- 0:29SPEAKER_15: Great music, superhero type guests, and Giggle 2.
- 0:33SPEAKER_15: Changing the world one smile at a time is Ren and David.
- 0:42SPEAKER_11: Hey, um Hi, Ren.
- 0:45SPEAKER_16: Hey Dave.
- 0:45SPEAKER_11: How's it going?
- 0:46SPEAKER_11: Good.
- 0:46SPEAKER_11: How was your week?
- 0:47SPEAKER_16: It's pretty good.
- 0:48SPEAKER_16: I'm a little sleepy, but always uh always in there swinging.
- 0:52SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 0:53SPEAKER_11: Well, it's better than the alternative, right?
- 0:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah, what's the alternative?
- 0:57SPEAKER_11: Uh in the ground.
- 0:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01SPEAKER_16: I thought you would have had a joke to like, what's better than being in there still swinging?
- 1:05SPEAKER_11: Uh I I don't.
- 1:07SPEAKER_16: Being out there still, being still.
- 1:11SPEAKER_16: Yes, never mind.
- 1:13SPEAKER_16: Let's abandon them.
- 1:14SPEAKER_11: Yeah, boy, that was a stretch.
- 1:16SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_11: Hey, uh, I I brought this too.
- 1:18SPEAKER_11: I wanted to show you this.
- 1:20SPEAKER_16: Um Desperado.
- 1:22SPEAKER_11: Desperado, and I wanted I wanted you to smell it.
- 1:24SPEAKER_11: Now, keep in mind that uh our my mail show, Male Encounters of the Life Kind, which you can get on our website, interwestconcepts.com, where this one is available as well.
- 1:35SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 1:36SPEAKER_16: If you're not listening to it on the Sunday morning wake-up call on KSJE.
- 1:40SPEAKER_11: On KSJE every Sunday morning, uh 90.9 here in Farmington.
- 1:46SPEAKER_11: New Mexico.
- 1:47SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:48SPEAKER_11: But uh, I had this lady that um we I've d I've had a candle developed now, and she's a new sponsor for our shows too.
- 1:55SPEAKER_16: Wow, she made you a whole candle.
- 1:57SPEAKER_11: Well, she made me several.
- 1:59SPEAKER_11: Oh, I was looking for scents, and she uses coconut wax.
- 2:02SPEAKER_11: Non what's that stuff called?
- 2:04SPEAKER_11: Cardigenic?
- 2:05SPEAKER_16: Carcinogenic.
- 2:06SPEAKER_11: Carcinogenic, so they're not dangerous at all.
- 2:09SPEAKER_11: Wonder like a regular candle.
- 2:11SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 2:11SPEAKER_11: And she uses coconut wax.
- 2:13SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 2:14SPEAKER_16: I feel like you can use that on your hands, but I might be wrong.
- 2:17SPEAKER_11: You probably could if you wanted to.
- 2:18SPEAKER_11: Now, this particular thing that I have here, she sent me several for us to choose from.
- 2:23SPEAKER_11: Ken and I are trying to decide what we want for and so this kind of goes with our theme today, too, because we're kind of, you know, although desperado, I don't know.
- 2:33SPEAKER_11: That's what this one's called, and this is the one that Ken and I have decided on.
- 2:36SPEAKER_11: So I want you to sniffer this and tell me what you think.
- 2:39SPEAKER_16: I'm excited because I kind of smelled something when I walked into the studio today.
- 2:44SPEAKER_16: Ooh, oh it's it's now it's supposed to be.
- 2:48SPEAKER_16: I smell a little bit of vanilla, obviously, a little bit of cinnamon, a little bit of like musky cologne.
- 2:53SPEAKER_11: Yeah, sandalwood, maybe?
- 2:54SPEAKER_11: I don't quite figure out.
- 2:56SPEAKER_16: It's almost juicy, too.
- 2:57SPEAKER_16: I almost smell a little bit of like orange in there or lime or something.
- 3:01SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 3:02SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 3:02SPEAKER_11: But we're gonna offer that for sale soon on the website.
- 3:07SPEAKER_11: Yeah, so we got t-shirts coming for the ladies.
- 3:09SPEAKER_11: They're gonna have their own.
- 3:10SPEAKER_11: Well, it's not really a t-shirt, it's like a nice ladies' shirt.
- 3:12SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 3:13SPEAKER_16: Fitted bag.
- 3:14SPEAKER_11: Fitted, kind of, yeah.
- 3:15SPEAKER_11: Yeah, it's more form-fitted than a regular men's t-shirt.
- 3:18SPEAKER_16: Yeah, not baggy.
- 3:19SPEAKER_11: No, no.
- 3:19SPEAKER_11: And that's gonna be for our ladies' male, uh the ladies uh what is it called?
- 3:24SPEAKER_11: Female encounters.
- 3:25SPEAKER_16: Females encounters.
- 3:26SPEAKER_16: I know I kept wanting to say lady encounters.
- 3:28SPEAKER_11: Yeah, lady encounters.
- 3:29SPEAKER_11: Oh, that doesn't sound quite right.
- 3:30SPEAKER_16: No, no.
- 3:32SPEAKER_11: But it's just all a part of what we're trying to do, some of our marketing stuff.
- 3:36SPEAKER_11: We're gonna have some stuff with uh the wake-up call too.
- 3:38SPEAKER_11: We're working on t-shirts with that, but we're gonna get a new picture taken, hopefully soon.
- 3:43SPEAKER_16: We're gonna dress up, dress to the nines.
- 3:45SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I don't know what we're wearing now.
- 3:46SPEAKER_16: I want to be a wizard.
- 3:47SPEAKER_16: I don't know, but I don't think I have a wizard cape.
- 3:50SPEAKER_16: You're the one who has the wizard costume.
- 3:52SPEAKER_11: Yeah, it's like a like, I don't know, it's like not a cape, it's like a full-on gown.
- 3:57SPEAKER_11: Oh, wow.
- 3:57SPEAKER_11: Full size.
- 3:58SPEAKER_16: Fine, I guess you can be the wizard.
- 4:00SPEAKER_16: You have the costume.
- 4:03SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 4:04SPEAKER_11: It's really, it's pretty silky kind of satiny.
- 4:06SPEAKER_11: Lovely.
- 4:07SPEAKER_11: Yeah, kind of.
- 4:08SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I don't know what I'm gonna dress up like though.
- 4:10SPEAKER_11: All right, well, before we get too far along, first of all, let's thank KSJE for uh allowing us to intervade their space.
- 4:16SPEAKER_11: Intervade?
- 4:17SPEAKER_11: Intervade.
- 4:18SPEAKER_11: Yeah, intervade.
- 4:19SPEAKER_11: I guess that's a word.
- 4:19SPEAKER_11: Yeah, that'll be Davenese.
- 4:22SPEAKER_11: That's the new Davonese right there.
- 4:23SPEAKER_11: Run the Run the sound.
- 4:27SPEAKER_11: But um, so you know, we've been talking back and forth.
- 4:30SPEAKER_11: We played Stump David.
- 4:32SPEAKER_16: Uh yeah, which uh kind of stumped both of us.
- 4:36SPEAKER_16: Because I think I overthought it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_11: You I think so too.
- 4:39SPEAKER_11: But I, you know, I got the whole theme, but I couldn't get the words that you were looking for.
- 4:44SPEAKER_16: Yes, and then I think next time I will try to, I don't know, make it less of a concept and more of a See here I go overthinking it again.
- 4:53SPEAKER_19: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_16: Maybe maybe you're the one who needs to stump me.
- 4:57SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I'd like to try.
- 4:58SPEAKER_11: I don't think there's any way, but I'd like to try.
- 5:00SPEAKER_11: All right, so um today though, I'm kind of at first when you sent me this, I was like, eh, maybe.
- 5:05SPEAKER_11: And then the more I thought about it, and then you sent the some artists that you wanted, and I'm like, oh yeah.
- 5:12SPEAKER_11: I'm down.
- 5:13SPEAKER_11: I it's kind of what are you gonna call the show?
- 5:16SPEAKER_16: I'm not sure because originally I was looking at jazz tunes, but it sort of went beyond that.
- 5:21SPEAKER_16: It's a little jazz, little soul, little RB.
- 5:24SPEAKER_16: So I figured we could just call it Sunday morning soul.
- 5:27SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_11: Yeah, because the last thing that you sent me was I thought, oh, that spoop, yeah, we're I'm in.
- 5:33SPEAKER_16: Oh, I'm so glad.
- 5:34SPEAKER_16: I had a feeling you'd like that.
- 5:35SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I I I like it.
- 5:36SPEAKER_16: I was kind of in a high key mood today, so something to sort of mellow us out.
- 5:41SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 5:41SPEAKER_11: I yeah, you had gymnastics today, didn't you?
- 5:43SPEAKER_11: You had to teach him, yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_11: Not gymnastics.
- 5:46SPEAKER_16: And they had them play in some sort of like the most extreme version of uh dodgeball you've ever seen.
- 5:51SPEAKER_11: Oh, it's called killer ball.
- 5:52SPEAKER_16: It's killer ball?
- 5:53SPEAKER_16: No, I don't know.
- 5:54SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay.
- 5:54SPEAKER_16: I thought you were serious because I would believe it.
- 5:57SPEAKER_16: No, it was um two kids were, you know, batting at once, and everybody was running around, and it was sure fun, but exhausting.
- 6:06SPEAKER_16: Chaotic.
- 6:07SPEAKER_16: I need something a little bit more mellow.
- 6:09SPEAKER_11: Okay, so let's mellow out.
- 6:10SPEAKER_11: Let's mellow out.
- 6:11SPEAKER_11: That's why you sent me this then.
- 6:13SPEAKER_16: I actually need to chill.
- 6:16SPEAKER_16: Precisely.
- 6:17SPEAKER_16: I actually messaged you during class, you know, when I had a minute and I was like, hey Dave.
- 6:22SPEAKER_11: Um Well, I love it.
- 6:24SPEAKER_16: Me too.
- 6:25SPEAKER_16: I got I got this first one, will get us kind of in a groovy mood.
- 6:29SPEAKER_16: Anne Peebles.
- 6:31SPEAKER_11: And what is it?
- 6:32SPEAKER_16: Anne Peebles, I can't stand the rain.
- 6:34SPEAKER_11: Oh, I love this song.
- 6:35SPEAKER_11: I didn't know that's her name, though.
- 6:37SPEAKER_16: Well, I think this is a different version than maybe the one we're familiar with, the like five-minute long one.
- 6:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that's really this one might be the original, but I just think this one's very groovy.
- 6:46SPEAKER_11: I like the name Anne Peebles.
- 6:48SPEAKER_16: Me too.
- 6:50SPEAKER_11: Sounds like a fun lady.
- 6:51SPEAKER_16: She's the voice of the Peeble.
- 6:54SPEAKER_17: I can't stand away.
- 7:02SPEAKER_17: Bringing back sweet memories.
- 7:09SPEAKER_17: Do you remember?
- 7:14SPEAKER_17: How sweet it should be.
- 7:50SPEAKER_17: Bring him back, sweet memory.
- 8:02SPEAKER_17: Oh, he's not a kill with me.
- 8:50SPEAKER_17: Bringing back sweet memory.
- 8:53SPEAKER_17: I can extend right.
- 9:02SPEAKER_17: Just keep stone haunting me.
- 9:10SPEAKER_11: You know all that song needed was a little Dave Oz bass.
- 9:15SPEAKER_16: Little Dave Oz.
- 9:16SPEAKER_16: Now who's Dave Oz?
- 9:17SPEAKER_11: He's a friend of mine, plays bass.
- 9:19SPEAKER_11: He's one killer bass player.
- 9:22SPEAKER_11: So that song needed a little Dave Oz bass, a little more thumping.
- 9:26SPEAKER_11: They didn't have quite enough thumping in there.
- 9:27SPEAKER_11: I love the song.
- 9:29SPEAKER_16: Oh, I'm with you.
- 9:30unknown: But the thumping.
- 9:31SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it it was that I was thinking, what year did this come out?
- 9:36SPEAKER_16: Because there seemed to be a time in, I don't know if it was RB or soul, but where bass wasn't prevalent.
- 9:44SPEAKER_16: Prevalent, yeah.
- 9:44SPEAKER_16: It was a lot of uh singing, a lot of um guitar, a lot of um keyboard, organ, but no bass.
- 9:52SPEAKER_16: And I personally like that sound.
- 9:54SPEAKER_16: It sounds bare bones and kind of like otherworldly to me.
- 9:57SPEAKER_11: Well, see, uh, as being a uh a party DJ uh in the past, and I can tell you point blank, and and running sound for some from for some big bands, I can tell you point blank, I can get people on the dance floor in a heartbeat by just pumping the bass and the kick drum.
- 10:18SPEAKER_11: And before you know it, they're on the floor.
- 10:21SPEAKER_16: They're on the floor.
- 10:22SPEAKER_11: Because you can feel that bass in your panel, you know, it vibrates your panel everything.
- 10:26SPEAKER_16: Oh, it's it's primal.
- 10:27SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 10:28SPEAKER_11: But you know, that was the kind of song I would dance to, but that would be the one that you just kind of reminds me of those hippies and woodstock, just kind of swaying.
- 10:38SPEAKER_16: Yeah, what was it?
- 10:39SPEAKER_16: You said something the other day, you're like, it's not a dance, it's not a song you can dance to, and I went, No, it's a song that you can sway to.
- 10:47SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 10:47SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that's that's why I think that's it's always interesting doing shows with you because you have that like uh you said party DJ point of view, and I have that sad teenager listening to music in her bedroom point of view, which is perfect.
- 11:02SPEAKER_16: They meet in the middle.
- 11:03SPEAKER_11: Then isolated.
- 11:04SPEAKER_16: The isolated um Lauren, I respect this song, but you can't dance to it.
- 11:10SPEAKER_16: It's not supposed to be danceable, Dave.
- 11:12SPEAKER_11: You're supposed to make things.
- 11:14SPEAKER_11: So let me ask you something.
- 11:15SPEAKER_11: If we if you know, like if you were in your bedroom and a jamming song came on out in the living room, wouldn't you come out and dance?
- 11:21SPEAKER_11: Absolutely, yes.
- 11:21SPEAKER_11: Okay, then I rest my case.
- 11:23SPEAKER_16: See, there you go.
- 11:23SPEAKER_11: You got you got jam in you.
- 11:25SPEAKER_11: That I oh yeah, it must be peanut butter, but you got jam.
- 11:29SPEAKER_16: I've got jelly.
- 11:30SPEAKER_16: It must be jelly because jam don't shake.
- 11:34SPEAKER_16: Sorry, that's a RuPaul.
- 11:35SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 11:35SPEAKER_16: RuPaul is I like that too.
- 11:37SPEAKER_11: Thank you.
- 11:37SPEAKER_11: Thank you.
- 11:38SPEAKER_16: But uh, let me see if I got one with more of a bass that we can play next, or at least one you can groom.
- 11:42SPEAKER_11: Oh no, I whatever you got, I'm good for.
- 11:44SPEAKER_11: Play one on me.
- 11:45SPEAKER_16: Okay, cool.
- 11:46SPEAKER_16: Well, I've got I got a little bit of Ella Fitzgerald for you.
- 11:49SPEAKER_11: Oh, Rick!
- 11:50SPEAKER_16: I know, I'm bringing I'm bringing the hits today, baby.
- 11:53SPEAKER_11: Oh my god.
- 11:54SPEAKER_11: This is uh Ella Fitzgerald.
- 11:56SPEAKER_11: I got goosebumps.
- 11:58SPEAKER_16: Only a paper, just the sound of her name, right?
- 12:00SPEAKER_11: I know.
- 12:01SPEAKER_16: Only a paper moon.
- 12:02SPEAKER_11: I don't know if I've heard this one I might have.
- 12:06unknown: Oh yeah.
- 12:07SPEAKER_11: I like this.
- 12:08SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Say it's only a paper moon sailing over cardboard sea, but it wouldn't be make believe if you believed in me.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's only a canvas camp hanging over a muslin tree, but it wouldn't be make believe if you believed in me.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: Without your love, it's a hunky tongue for raid without your love.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: It's a melody flate in a belly arcade.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: It's a barn and belly word, just as funny as it can be.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: But it wouldn't be make me live if you believed in me.
- 13:24SPEAKER_05: Sailing over the sea, bubble beep, but it wouldn't be make me leave if you believe in me.
- 13:37SPEAKER_05: Yes, it's only a canvas car.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: But it wouldn't be make me believe in me.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: It's a git-a-with in a baby lucky! It's a vulnerable baby work just as phony as it can be.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: If you believed in me.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: It's phony, it's plain to see how happy I would be if you believed in me.
- 14:43SPEAKER_11: I don't know, I I thought I remembered her voice being a little raspy, but that's not raspy at all.
- 14:49SPEAKER_11: That's just nice and smooth.
- 14:50SPEAKER_16: That was also when she was very young.
- 14:52SPEAKER_16: That was the war years, so during World War II.
- 14:55SPEAKER_16: So she probably her voice had not yet gone through all that singing and exercises.
- 15:01SPEAKER_16: You know, do you know the story between um Marilyn Monroe and Ella Fitzgerald?
- 15:07SPEAKER_11: I do not.
- 15:08SPEAKER_16: Oh, it's fascinating and goes to show, you know, Marilyn Monroe was just a lady who was a little bit ahead of her time.
- 15:14SPEAKER_16: Um, Ella Fitzgerald, obviously a fabulous singer.
- 15:18SPEAKER_16: There was a huge club in Hollywood that she wanted to perform at all the best people did, but she was black, and racism was heavy back then.
- 15:31SPEAKER_16: I think it was before the civil rights movement, and they wouldn't let her play they wouldn't let her sing.
- 15:37SPEAKER_16: Marilyn Monroe heard about this, and she was a huge Ella Fitzgerald fan, and she called up the owner of that club and said, if you book Ella Fitzgerald, I will be in the front row of your club every single night for an entire week with photographers all around me.
- 15:52SPEAKER_16: So I'll be taking pictures of me at your club.
- 15:56SPEAKER_16: Oh, wow.
- 15:56SPEAKER_16: And he said, Yeah, of course, biggest movie star in the world.
- 15:59SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 16:00SPEAKER_16: So, because of that, Ella Fitzgerald got a gig at that big fancy club, and she never had to beg for a gig ever again.
- 16:06SPEAKER_16: Oh, I believe.
- 16:07SPEAKER_16: No one ever denied her ever again.
- 16:10SPEAKER_16: So good on you, Marilyn.
- 16:12SPEAKER_11: Nice job.
- 16:12SPEAKER_11: You Marilyn was ahead of her time.
- 16:14SPEAKER_11: Problem was she was too smart for her own good.
- 16:16SPEAKER_16: She was.
- 16:16SPEAKER_11: Most people thought she was dumb blonde, but she was far from that.
- 16:20SPEAKER_16: She it was a character.
- 16:21SPEAKER_11: Yeah, exactly.
- 16:23unknown: Exactly.
- 16:23SPEAKER_11: And you know, we were talking about that earlier, too, about Lady Gaga.
- 16:27SPEAKER_11: I was talking with Julie about uh body image.
- 16:30SPEAKER_11: And you know, Lady Gaga has not got the perfect body, but I'm crazy about her.
- 16:34SPEAKER_16: Oh, she's gorgeous.
- 16:35SPEAKER_11: And Marilyn Monroe is the same way.
- 16:37SPEAKER_11: Everybody thought in those days that was the perfect body.
- 16:40SPEAKER_11: Nowadays they would think that she was too heavy or they would probably call her fat or too curvy or whichever.
- 16:46SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 16:46SPEAKER_11: But uh to me, those yeah, that's sustenance.
- 16:50SPEAKER_16: Sustenance.
- 16:51SPEAKER_16: Oh, do you want to be angry with me about something?
- 16:54SPEAKER_11: I not really, but uh Well, you're going to be.
- 16:57SPEAKER_16: So you know the dress that Marilyn Monroe wore during the very infamous Happy Birthday.
- 17:05SPEAKER_16: Yes, I did.
- 17:06SPEAKER_16: Mr.
- 17:06SPEAKER_16: President.
- 17:07SPEAKER_11: White, right?
- 17:07SPEAKER_11: Pearl white or something.
- 17:09SPEAKER_16: It was it's basically her skin tone.
- 17:12SPEAKER_16: So, and she was sewn into it.
- 17:13SPEAKER_16: So it was this beautiful nude illusion that looked like she was just covered in diamonds.
- 17:18SPEAKER_11: Oh, I guess I didn't see it.
- 17:19SPEAKER_16: So Ripley's Believe It or Not had the dress, and uh, Miss Kim Kardashian asked to borrow it for the Met Gala this year.
- 17:26SPEAKER_16: Oh no.
- 17:27SPEAKER_16: And um I guess uh what's it?
- 17:30SPEAKER_16: The uh Ripley's Believe It Or Not didn't know that she did this, but the dress, like I said, was sewn onto Maryland, so they had to rip it, like cut the seams, right, and and add in some laces so that it would fit onto Kim Kardashian's.
- 17:46SPEAKER_11: I would think so, yeah.
- 17:46SPEAKER_16: So she pretty much just destroyed this irreplaceable piece of American history just so that she could Ripley's letter get away with that?
- 17:55SPEAKER_16: They didn't know she was gonna do it, as far as I know.
- 17:57SPEAKER_11: Why would they even loan her the dress?
- 17:59SPEAKER_16: I don't know, Dave.
- 18:00SPEAKER_16: Doesn't it make you I know, and it didn't even look good on her because her skin tone is obviously not the same as Marilyn's.
- 18:07SPEAKER_11: A lot darker.
- 18:08SPEAKER_16: Yeah, no.
- 18:09SPEAKER_16: I mean, if you want to dress like Marilyn Monroe, just get somebody to recreate it.
- 18:12SPEAKER_16: You have all this money, lady.
- 18:14SPEAKER_11: Yes, sir.
- 18:14SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 18:15SPEAKER_11: Really, that is too bad.
- 18:16SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_16: Eh, it's okay.
- 18:18SPEAKER_16: I mean, the dress is still, you know, functional.
- 18:20SPEAKER_16: It's just been altered.
- 18:22SPEAKER_16: For Kim Kardashian, too.
- 18:24SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_11: Anybody but Kim Kardashian.
- 18:29SPEAKER_16: Sorry.
- 18:30SPEAKER_11: I'm not a fan either of any of the Kardashians, but that's just me.
- 18:33SPEAKER_16: I'm with you.
- 18:34SPEAKER_16: I don't have any respect for them.
- 18:36SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 18:37SPEAKER_16: The end.
- 18:38SPEAKER_11: Oh my god, we're gonna get thrown off the air.
- 18:40SPEAKER_16: Oh, they're gonna mob our house, Dave.
- 18:43SPEAKER_16: All those Kardashians.
- 18:44SPEAKER_11: So, you folks that are listening, make note now.
- 18:46SPEAKER_11: And if we leave, you need to start a petition.
- 18:50SPEAKER_11: We get thrown off the air.
- 18:51SPEAKER_11: You need to pass the Kardashians.
- 18:53SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 18:54SPEAKER_16: Protect us from their ridiculous.
- 18:57SPEAKER_11: I know they listen.
- 18:58SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, they are.
- 18:58SPEAKER_16: They're huge fans.
- 18:59SPEAKER_16: Courtney was texting me last night.
- 19:01SPEAKER_16: No.
- 19:03SPEAKER_11: I hope one of them's named Courtney.
- 19:05SPEAKER_11: Alright, so what do we call it?
- 19:06SPEAKER_11: What is the theme of the show again?
- 19:07SPEAKER_11: Sunday morning soul.
- 19:09SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I love that.
- 19:10SPEAKER_11: Alright.
- 19:11SPEAKER_11: Oh, I'm so glad.
- 19:12SPEAKER_11: So uh hit me with some more soul.
- 19:13SPEAKER_11: I do.
- 19:14SPEAKER_11: Big Rin.
- 19:15SPEAKER_16: This one is uh very soulful.
- 19:17SPEAKER_16: This is a Miss Peggy Lee.
- 19:18SPEAKER_16: And I hope you're not feeling sick.
- 19:20SPEAKER_11: Oh my god, I love Peggy Lee too.
- 19:22SPEAKER_16: Because she's got a fever.
- 19:23SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_11: Oh, is this the one I think it is?
- 19:26SPEAKER_16: Oh, you bet it is.
- 19:28SPEAKER_11: Oh, I love this song.
- 19:39SPEAKER_14: Never know how much I love you.
- 19:43SPEAKER_14: Never know how much I care.
- 19:46SPEAKER_14: When you put your arms around me, I get a fever that's so hard to bear.
- 19:52SPEAKER_14: You give me fever.
- 19:55SPEAKER_14: When you kiss me fever, when you hold me tight.
- 20:00SPEAKER_14: Fever in the morning, I fever all through the night.
- 20:08SPEAKER_14: Sun lights up the daytime, moonlights up the night.
- 20:14SPEAKER_14: I light up when you call my name, and you know I'm gonna treat you right.
- 20:20SPEAKER_14: You give me fever when you give me a fever when you hold me tight.
- 20:29SPEAKER_14: Fever in the morning, a fever all through the night.
- 20:36SPEAKER_14: Everybody's got the fever.
- 20:40SPEAKER_14: That is something you all know.
- 20:43SPEAKER_14: Fever isn't such a new thing.
- 20:46SPEAKER_14: Fever started long ago.
- 20:57SPEAKER_14: Romeo loved Juliet, Juliet, she felt the sad when he put his arms around her, he said, Julie, baby, you're my flame, thou givest fever.
- 21:13SPEAKER_14: When we kiss a fever with thy flaming use, fever, I'm afraid.
- 21:21SPEAKER_14: Fever, yea, I burn for sooth.
- 21:32SPEAKER_14: Captain Smith and Pocahontas had a very mad affair.
- 21:39SPEAKER_14: When her daddy tried to kill him, she said, Daddy, oh don't want to dig in me fever.
- 21:48SPEAKER_14: Weird as kisses, fever when he holds me tight.
- 21:53SPEAKER_14: Fever?
- 21:54SPEAKER_14: I'm his missus.
- 21:56SPEAKER_14: Oh, daddy, won't you treat him right?
- 22:00SPEAKER_14: Now you've listened to my story.
- 22:03SPEAKER_14: Here's the point that I have made.
- 22:07SPEAKER_14: Chicks were born to give you fever.
- 22:10SPEAKER_14: Be it Fahrenheit or Sandra, they give you fever.
- 22:16SPEAKER_14: When you get them fever if you live alone.
- 22:25SPEAKER_14: What a lovely way to burn.
- 22:28SPEAKER_14: What a lovely way to burn.
- 22:32SPEAKER_14: What a lovely way to burn.
- 22:35SPEAKER_14: What a lovely way to burn.
- 22:44SPEAKER_16: Just her voice is so controlled.
- 22:47SPEAKER_16: It feels like she's giving us only 10% of her power, but it's so I know.
- 22:52SPEAKER_11: It's uh yeah, it's hard to explain.
- 22:54SPEAKER_11: But you know, I'll tell you, um I I've I've got goosebumps.
- 22:58SPEAKER_11: Everything you plant of giving me goosebumps.
- 22:59SPEAKER_16: Thanks.
- 23:00SPEAKER_16: I'm glad.
- 23:00SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I'm already feeling much more mellow than I was before.
- 23:04SPEAKER_11: Hey, yesterday I met a girl.
- 23:05SPEAKER_16: You did?
- 23:06SPEAKER_11: I did, I met a girl, and she runs a battery kiosk at our local park.
- 23:10SPEAKER_16: A battery kiosk at the park?
- 23:12SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I guess kids are bringing their iPads and stuff, and so she's got batteries to sell at the parking lot.
- 23:18SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay, for like toys and stuff, yeah.
- 23:20SPEAKER_11: Yeah, that's right.
- 23:20SPEAKER_11: She sells C cells down by the seesaw.
- 23:24SPEAKER_16: Shut up.
- 23:25SPEAKER_16: Get out.
- 23:26SPEAKER_16: You're fired.
- 23:27SPEAKER_16: I'm firing you.
- 23:30SPEAKER_16: I believed you, Dave.
- 23:34SPEAKER_16: What kind of lady sells batteries at a park?
- 23:37SPEAKER_16: I'm excited to hear this story.
- 23:40SPEAKER_16: What a fool I am.
- 23:44SPEAKER_11: No, you just here's the deal.
- 23:45SPEAKER_11: Like, and I shouldn't, I shouldn't take advantage, but you do trust me.
- 23:49SPEAKER_16: I'm very believed.
- 23:50SPEAKER_16: I believe you.
- 23:51SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I I know.
- 23:52SPEAKER_11: I could probably I could probably sell you uh ocean front property in Arizona, I think.
- 23:59SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 24:01SPEAKER_16: Because why would why would Dave lie to me?
- 24:04SPEAKER_16: Well, now I now things have changed.
- 24:06SPEAKER_11: Oh crap.
- 24:07SPEAKER_11: Story of my life.
- 24:09SPEAKER_11: I get a good woman, to get a good partner.
- 24:14SPEAKER_16: And but then you just uh blow it.
- 24:16SPEAKER_16: You just blow it.
- 24:17SPEAKER_11: My m my alligator mouth overruns my canary rear end.
- 25:03SPEAKER_16: Well, luckily for you, my feelings regenerate at twice the speed of a normal human, so I forgive you now.
- 25:10SPEAKER_11: You're like that guy on the Men in Black where they shoot his head off and comes right back.
- 25:14SPEAKER_11: Are you like that?
- 25:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah, Tony Shaloub.
- 25:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 25:16SPEAKER_16: I'm just like Tony Shaloob.
- 25:19SPEAKER_16: Did you know that's not even like um a CGI effect in Men in Black?
- 25:23SPEAKER_16: Then Tony Shaloub can just do that.
- 25:27SPEAKER_11: That's you're so full of crap.
- 25:31SPEAKER_11: Are your eyes brown?
- 25:34SPEAKER_16: Not yet, they're not.
- 25:36SPEAKER_16: Give me a few more minutes, though.
- 25:38SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I'm afraid I'm rubbing off on you for the case.
- 25:40SPEAKER_16: Give me a few more drinks and they'll be turning brown.
- 25:42SPEAKER_16: Because I'll be full of it.
- 25:45SPEAKER_11: All right, so I know we're almost to break time, I think, but um, I just I love this idea.
- 25:50SPEAKER_11: I'm so glad we decided to do this.
- 25:51SPEAKER_11: And you know what?
- 25:52SPEAKER_11: It's really making my day.
- 25:53SPEAKER_16: Me too.
- 25:54SPEAKER_11: You know, I'm so glad.
- 25:55SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I feel like, oh yeah.
- 25:57SPEAKER_16: Life is okay.
- 25:59SPEAKER_11: You know, I used to think I had to have those that upbeat music playing all the time and you know, heart racing, but this is kind of nice.
- 26:05SPEAKER_11: I'm kind of like, yeah.
- 26:07SPEAKER_16: Because it still has all the things you like.
- 26:09SPEAKER_16: You can still groove to these songs.
- 26:10SPEAKER_16: Oh, absolutely.
- 26:11SPEAKER_16: It'll just be a little slower.
- 26:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_16: But other than um I can't stand the rain, there's a lot of bass, a lot of drums.
- 26:17SPEAKER_16: So I'm glad you're gonna be able to do that.
- 26:18SPEAKER_11: Oh, that one's a lot of bass in there.
- 26:21SPEAKER_16: Uh bass of every kind.
- 26:22SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that's right.
- 26:23SPEAKER_16: That's right.
- 26:24SPEAKER_11: All right.
- 26:25SPEAKER_11: I think um I think uh according to your calculation, we had time for one more before we uh go to break.
- 26:31SPEAKER_11: Is that right?
- 26:32SPEAKER_16: I I believe so.
- 26:33SPEAKER_16: This one's another feel good song.
- 26:34SPEAKER_16: This is uh he does not have the most technically perfect voice, but it's still very uh pleasing to listen to.
- 26:40SPEAKER_16: This is Louis Armstrong.
- 26:41SPEAKER_11: Oh, I I think he's got a nice voice.
- 26:44SPEAKER_11: I agree.
- 26:45SPEAKER_16: I love that it's unique.
- 26:47SPEAKER_06: Hello, Dolly.
- 26:49SPEAKER_06: Dolly.
- 26:50SPEAKER_16: Okay, maybe that's a little more demonic.
- 26:52SPEAKER_06: It's the Louis Armstrong.
- 26:54SPEAKER_06: There you go, that'll work.
- 26:56SPEAKER_16: I'm sorry, Louis, wherever you are.
- 26:57SPEAKER_11: What tome are you doing as uh uh La Vie en Rose?
- 27:01SPEAKER_11: Oh, I don't think I've heard this one.
- 27:03SPEAKER_16: The the rosy life.
- 27:04SPEAKER_11: Love it.
- 27:06SPEAKER_16: You heard this one.
- 27:07SPEAKER_16: It's just usually French.
- 28:45SPEAKER_10: The magic spell, you kiss, this is lovey and rose.
- 28:54SPEAKER_10: When you kiss me up front sides, and though I close my eyes, I see love and rose.
- 29:08SPEAKER_10: When you press me to your heart, and in a world apart, a world where roses bloom, and when you speak, angels sing from above.
- 29:29SPEAKER_10: Every day void seems to turn into love song.
- 29:35SPEAKER_10: Give your heart and soul to me, and life will always be love and roll.
- 30:57SPEAKER_04: It's a new dawn, it's a new day.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: It's a new life for me.
- 31:05SPEAKER_04: It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me, and I'm feeling good.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 33:31SPEAKER_11: You hit the nail on the proverbial head.
- 33:35SPEAKER_15: Thank you.
- 33:36SPEAKER_11: Uh I don't know you know, I cranked it up in my headset really loud.
- 33:40SPEAKER_11: If I listened to anything else, whether it be country or modern, more modern, or rock and something like that.
- 33:48SPEAKER_11: Um you would have a hard time uh differentiating between the different instruments, and the voice would kind of get lost in the sound.
- 33:58SPEAKER_11: I could hear every frickin' instrument.
- 34:01SPEAKER_11: It was loud, loud.
- 34:02SPEAKER_11: I mean, but I could hear everything.
- 34:04SPEAKER_16: That's beautiful.
- 34:05SPEAKER_16: And Nina Simone's voice is like we talked about somebody uh Peggy Lee, how she sounds like she just has such a powerful voice, and in Fever you're only hearing 10% of it.
- 34:17SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 34:17SPEAKER_16: In that song, Nina Simone, she gives a phenomenal performance, and I feel like that's not even half of what she can do.
- 34:24SPEAKER_16: Yeah, not even a quarter of what she can do.
- 34:26SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I don't I don't feel like she's holding back.
- 34:29SPEAKER_16: I think it's just more of the song itself is very mellow.
- 34:32SPEAKER_16: Yeah, she's not holding back.
- 34:34SPEAKER_16: Yeah, she's just not uh as the kids say, she has not reached her final form yet.
- 34:39SPEAKER_16: Have you heard that before?
- 34:41SPEAKER_16: No.
- 34:41SPEAKER_16: It's a thing for I hope I never do.
- 34:44SPEAKER_16: It's a good thing.
- 34:46SPEAKER_16: Your final form.
- 34:46SPEAKER_16: It's like, you know, Pokemon.
- 34:48SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 34:49SPEAKER_16: And you know they're the little monsters and they get they evolve and change.
- 34:53SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 34:53SPEAKER_11: So as they as they grow, right?
- 34:55SPEAKER_11: I mean, as they go.
- 34:56SPEAKER_11: Yeah, they get different levels, they get bigger and they get bigger, they get more fancy things.
- 35:01SPEAKER_16: Well, you know, their final form is their most powerful form.
- 35:05SPEAKER_16: So when somebody says, I'm reaching my final form, you know, it means they're really powerful and feeling good about themselves.
- 35:11SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 35:12SPEAKER_16: All right.
- 35:13SPEAKER_16: Yeah, so you could say Nina Simone was feeling good.
- 35:16SPEAKER_16: She she was reaching her final form.
- 35:19SPEAKER_11: Good point.
- 35:19SPEAKER_16: I'm so sorry.
- 35:21SPEAKER_11: Well, to I apologize.
- 35:23SPEAKER_16: Because I feel like that was a terrible joke to make for a legend like Nina Simone.
- 35:28SPEAKER_11: I didn't get it then.
- 35:29SPEAKER_11: Which is fine.
- 35:30SPEAKER_16: Okay, good.
- 35:31SPEAKER_11: I I everybody else is going, you idiot.
- 35:33SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 35:33SPEAKER_16: Me, to me.
- 35:34SPEAKER_16: It's like it's whatever.
- 35:36SPEAKER_16: I'm just talking out of talking out of nowhere these days.
- 35:39SPEAKER_11: I'm still kind of goosebumpy.
- 35:40SPEAKER_11: I mean, I just I don't know.
- 35:41unknown: Yeah.
- 35:42SPEAKER_11: It's made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
- 35:44SPEAKER_11: I I don't know.
- 35:44SPEAKER_11: This is good stuff, Maynard.
- 35:46SPEAKER_16: Maynard.
- 35:46SPEAKER_16: See, now there's a joke I don't get.
- 35:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I don't I that's a that's a really old thing.
- 35:51SPEAKER_11: I used to work for a guy named Maynard, too.
- 35:54SPEAKER_11: And worked at Kilroy's Kilroy's.
- 35:58SPEAKER_16: Kilroy was here.
- 35:59SPEAKER_11: Yes, that's right.
- 36:00SPEAKER_11: He was here.
- 36:01SPEAKER_16: You know, there's a store in um Nebraska called Menards.
- 36:06SPEAKER_16: Oh, yes, I do.
- 36:07SPEAKER_16: So good idea, Menard.
- 36:10SPEAKER_11: Menard?
- 36:11SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 36:11SPEAKER_11: Nerd, that's like a geek, right?
- 36:13SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 36:14SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 36:15SPEAKER_16: I don't think people really use that word anymore, but definitely.
- 36:18SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I can remember.
- 36:19SPEAKER_11: I mean, it wasn't in my time.
- 36:20SPEAKER_11: My time and even geek wasn't there.
- 36:22SPEAKER_11: It was nerd, I think, is what we call people, yeah.
- 36:25SPEAKER_16: Nard.
- 36:26SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that sounds very 80s.
- 36:27SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 36:28SPEAKER_16: Like some dude bro is gonna shout it from his his convertible.
- 36:33SPEAKER_19: Nard! Better do my homework.
- 36:37SPEAKER_11: Yeah, from his convertible.
- 36:39SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 36:40SPEAKER_11: They have convertibles in the 80s.
- 36:42SPEAKER_16: Right, yeah.
- 36:44SPEAKER_16: They hadn't been invented yet.
- 36:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 36:49SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 36:50SPEAKER_11: Alright.
- 36:51SPEAKER_11: Um so this is uh smooth jazz.
- 36:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah, Sunday morning soul.
- 36:57SPEAKER_11: Sunday morning soul.
- 36:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I just said soul because there's smooth jazz in here, a little bit of R and B.
- 37:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I was gonna say this it's kind of a nice mixture, but I think it's a nice fit.
- 37:06SPEAKER_11: And uh I and we and we hope that the folks at uh our K SJE listeners will will enjoy it, and I hope that the folks on our webpage, Interwest Concepts.com, will enjoy it as well.
- 37:15SPEAKER_16: Indeed.
- 37:16SPEAKER_16: I mean too.
- 37:17SPEAKER_16: This next song is one of my favorites.
- 37:19SPEAKER_16: Okay by Miss Billy Holiday.
- 37:23SPEAKER_11: You're killing me, Red.
- 37:24SPEAKER_11: Oh I'm gonna be in a just a little puddle on the floor soon.
- 37:27SPEAKER_16: Have you ever heard of a video game called Fallout?
- 37:30SPEAKER_11: I have not.
- 37:31SPEAKER_16: It is a very cool concept, basically.
- 37:33SPEAKER_16: Um nuclear fallout happened in the 1950s, and so America has become this like dystopian post-apocalyptic world, but uh American culture never really evolved past the 1940s, past the 1950s.
- 37:47SPEAKER_16: So there's all this like hyper uh futuristic technology right next to you know, um, like ladies in pearls and and curlers in their hair.
- 37:56SPEAKER_16: And so on the radio, they're always playing old-timey music like Billy Holiday.
- 38:01SPEAKER_16: And that was my first introduction to all this music was that soundtrack for that video game, which I think is just isn't that so fun?
- 38:08SPEAKER_16: Something so modern could introduce me and start a love for something so classic.
- 38:12SPEAKER_11: No kidding.
- 38:13SPEAKER_16: This is this was my favorite song from the soundtrack.
- 38:15SPEAKER_16: Easy Living.
- 38:17SPEAKER_11: Oh, I I'm familiar with the song.
- 38:19SPEAKER_11: Like this song a lot.
- 38:21SPEAKER_11: Good piano in this one.
- 38:22SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 38:23SPEAKER_11: Oh tickle the keys.
- 38:24SPEAKER_16: Tickling the ivories.
- 38:26SPEAKER_11: There you go.
- 40:03SPEAKER_18: When you love and love, so in love.
- 40:08SPEAKER_18: There's nothing in life but you.
- 40:15SPEAKER_18: I'm your only quick.
- 40:24SPEAKER_18: When you're in love, I'm happy to whatever I do.
- 40:45SPEAKER_18: People say you ruin me with one.
- 40:49SPEAKER_18: Wave your hand, drop it rain, it's just so on the stage, it's it's for you.
- 41:02SPEAKER_18: He's delivering it easy to this.
- 41:07SPEAKER_18: And you're in love, and I'm so in love.
- 41:12SPEAKER_18: There's nothing in life for you.
- 41:19SPEAKER_16: That was the original star named Billy.
- 41:22SPEAKER_16: Sorry, Billie Eilish, but this, yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_16: This is Billy Holliday.
- 41:26SPEAKER_11: I wonder if Billie Eilish got was named for Billy Holiday.
- 41:29SPEAKER_16: It very well could be.
- 41:30SPEAKER_16: Her parents are artists, but as far as I know, they're super Irish, too.
- 41:33SPEAKER_16: So I think Billy is an Irish name.
- 41:35SPEAKER_11: Could be.
- 41:37SPEAKER_11: Could be.
- 41:37SPEAKER_11: Well, I uh yeah, this is great.
- 41:39SPEAKER_11: I mean, we need we need to figure and do more of this kind of stuff.
- 41:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah, maybe we should do like every couple of weeks, we'll just do another Sunday mellow.
- 41:46SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 41:47SPEAKER_16: Sunday mellow.
- 41:48SPEAKER_16: It doesn't have to always be like this, but whenever we're feeling it, we should just pull out the soul.
- 41:53SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I agree.
- 41:55SPEAKER_11: Um you know, there's lots that they can add to that.
- 41:57SPEAKER_11: Being Crosby, uh Dean Martin.
- 42:00SPEAKER_11: I mean, there's a bunch that we could actually uh there's a bunch I I left out.
- 42:05SPEAKER_16: Uh I definitely did do more of the the classic, like when you think of jazz and soul, you think of these people, but I know for a fact that there's more.
- 42:14SPEAKER_11: I w let's do this too.
- 42:16SPEAKER_11: I w I'd love for the listeners to let us know what you think.
- 42:18SPEAKER_11: I mean, we if you got some ideas or some songs.
- 42:21SPEAKER_11: I heard a song today that I have never heard, and that uh I'm going to try to get it put on our playlist at the station.
- 42:28SPEAKER_11: Uh at the station that I work at for in Durango.
- 42:31SPEAKER_11: It's a uh Mr.
- 42:33SPEAKER_11: Mr.
- 42:33SPEAKER_11: DJ, I think, or the last DJ by um Um Tom Petty.
- 42:39SPEAKER_11: Have you heard?
- 42:39SPEAKER_16: Oh, I don't know if I have.
- 42:41SPEAKER_11: Yeah, uh oh.
- 42:43SPEAKER_11: It's me, to the T.
- 42:45SPEAKER_11: To the T.
- 42:47SPEAKER_16: That's Dave's theme song.
- 42:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_11: Mr.
- 42:49SPEAKER_11: D.
- 42:49SPEAKER_11: Matter of fact, I might try to get them to at least let me download it so I can play it for the beginning of my show.
- 42:54SPEAKER_16: Yeah, or or just get um get Eric Campbell to do a little riff for you.
- 42:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, there you go.
- 42:59SPEAKER_16: Then it's royalty-free.
- 43:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 43:01SPEAKER_11: Well, see, there we don't have to worry about that because we got the licensing.
- 43:05SPEAKER_16: Oh my gosh, you're right, yeah.
- 43:07SPEAKER_11: So yeah.
- 43:08SPEAKER_11: And we don't have to worry about it here either, but also we do think about it because we want all the artists to get their just dues.
- 43:14SPEAKER_16: And with just about any other creative endeavor like YouTube or movies or whatever, you have to pay out the no's to use certain music.
- 43:22SPEAKER_16: But at a radio station, you already got the license.
- 43:26SPEAKER_11: Bye, Miss Julie.
- 43:27SPEAKER_16: Bye, Julie.
- 43:28SPEAKER_16: We love you.
- 43:29SPEAKER_11: Felicia's already gone, so we can't say bye, Felicia.
- 43:32SPEAKER_11: So the new catchphrase now is bye Julie.
- 43:35SPEAKER_16: Bye, Julie.
- 43:36SPEAKER_11: Pajouli.
- 43:37SPEAKER_16: Patchouli, bye patchouli.
- 43:40SPEAKER_16: Julie's least favorite smell.
- 43:42SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 43:43SPEAKER_11: Julie does not like patchouli.
- 43:45SPEAKER_16: It's unfortunate because patchouli is a cute name.
- 43:47SPEAKER_11: It's a cute nickname.
- 43:49SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I like it.
- 43:50SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I agree.
- 43:51SPEAKER_11: And we kind of think that's what the can candle smells like.
- 43:54SPEAKER_11: A little bit.
- 43:55SPEAKER_11: Paulie.
- 43:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 43:56SPEAKER_11: Something like that.
- 43:57SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 43:58SPEAKER_11: Desperado.
- 43:59SPEAKER_16: It's a good smell.
- 43:59SPEAKER_16: It's got a lot of smells going on in it.
- 44:01SPEAKER_11: Do you think it's a male candle?
- 44:03SPEAKER_11: Is there too many smells going on?
- 44:05SPEAKER_16: I think it's male overall.
- 44:06SPEAKER_16: It's definitely, but it almost smells unisex.
- 44:09SPEAKER_16: It almost smells like both men and women.
- 44:12SPEAKER_11: Oh no, see, that's not what I wanted.
- 44:14SPEAKER_11: No!
- 44:15SPEAKER_16: No, well, it does kind of be like if I'm being honest, it smells like a couple of things.
- 44:19SPEAKER_11: No, not being honest.
- 44:21SPEAKER_16: Okay, well then I'll lie to you.
- 44:22SPEAKER_16: This is the greatest candle I've ever smelled, and there's no other candle like it.
- 44:26SPEAKER_11: And you're gonna be able to get it on our website.
- 44:30SPEAKER_16: I was just gonna say if I'm being honest, it's got smells that are both male and female, but overall, it smells like a very sensitive worldly man.
- 44:39SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 44:40SPEAKER_11: Okay, well, I don't know how worldly I am, but I am a little sensitive, sometimes a little too sensitive.
- 44:46SPEAKER_16: Well, with you and Ken, your powers combined, you might be described as worldly.
- 44:51SPEAKER_16: Okay, yeah.
- 44:53SPEAKER_11: Ken is definitely worldly.
- 44:55SPEAKER_11: He was in the service, and I think he's been overseas.
- 44:57SPEAKER_16: So I'm sure.
- 44:59SPEAKER_16: He runs his his uh dragon.
- 45:00SPEAKER_11: I've been to Mexico and I've been to Canada, so there we go.
- 45:03SPEAKER_16: You're international! That's right.
- 45:05SPEAKER_16: There's a there's a drag queen called Mrs.
- 45:07SPEAKER_16: Kasha Davis, and she goes, My name is Mrs.
- 45:10SPEAKER_16: Kasha Davis, international drag queen, because of the time I uh performed in Canada that one time.
- 45:17SPEAKER_16: That one time at Canada.
- 45:19SPEAKER_16: That one time in Canada.
- 45:20SPEAKER_16: It counts, folks.
- 45:21SPEAKER_16: It counts.
- 45:21SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 45:22SPEAKER_11: All right.
- 45:23SPEAKER_11: What else you got there?
- 45:24SPEAKER_11: Oh, uh-blah ba-buh.
- 45:26SPEAKER_11: Oh, unless you had were you getting ready to say something?
- 45:28SPEAKER_11: No, I want to make a point.
- 45:30SPEAKER_16: Um, my point is that I'm awesome.
- 45:34SPEAKER_11: Yes, you are.
- 45:35SPEAKER_11: I would okay, I'll second that point.
- 45:37SPEAKER_16: Thank you.
- 45:37SPEAKER_16: So I don't know why we're even questioning it.
- 45:39SPEAKER_11: So, what about the rant?
- 45:41SPEAKER_11: We're gonna do the rant in the next thing.
- 45:43SPEAKER_16: I do have a rant.
- 45:44SPEAKER_16: It's not a new movie at all.
- 45:45SPEAKER_11: Okay, so so so.
- 45:47SPEAKER_16: Do you want to hear it?
- 45:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah, no, no, not the rant, but what's the movie?
- 45:50SPEAKER_16: Oh, the movie is 1975's Grey Gardens.
- 45:54SPEAKER_11: Grey Gardens.
- 45:55SPEAKER_16: You m I don't know if you've heard of it.
- 45:56SPEAKER_16: It's kind of a cult classic documentary about Jackie Onassis' extended family.
- 46:02SPEAKER_11: Oh, I would love.
- 46:03SPEAKER_11: Okay, yes, fantastic.
- 46:04SPEAKER_16: And there it's very eccentric, it's not a political thing.
- 46:07SPEAKER_11: Okay, super.
- 46:08SPEAKER_11: Well, I want I'm gonna give you one that I would like you for you to see if you have not seen it.
- 46:11SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 46:12SPEAKER_11: And it stars Nicolas Cage.
- 46:14SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 46:14SPEAKER_11: And he's like an old hermit.
- 46:17SPEAKER_16: Is it pig?
- 46:18SPEAKER_16: It is.
- 46:18SPEAKER_16: I know of pig, I haven't watched it.
- 46:20SPEAKER_16: I'll watch it.
- 46:21SPEAKER_11: You've got to watch it.
- 46:22SPEAKER_11: It's gonna break your heart.
- 46:23SPEAKER_11: It's kind of sad.
- 46:24SPEAKER_16: I know the ending.
- 46:25SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 46:25SPEAKER_11: Do you?
- 46:26SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 46:26SPEAKER_16: Because anytime a movie has an animal in it, because it's named Pig, spoiler alert, it's about a man and his pig that he loves.
- 46:34SPEAKER_11: Truffle pig.
- 46:35SPEAKER_16: Truffle pig.
- 46:36SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 46:36SPEAKER_16: Um anytime a movie has an animal in it, I check to see if anything happens to that animal.
- 46:42SPEAKER_11: Before you see the movie?
- 46:43SPEAKER_16: Yes, whether it be good or bad.
- 46:45SPEAKER_11: So you're prepared.
- 46:46SPEAKER_16: So I'm prepared.
- 46:46SPEAKER_16: So I know what happens in pig, and uh it sounds like a beautiful film.
- 46:50SPEAKER_16: I should watch it.
- 46:51SPEAKER_11: Oh, I'm telling you.
- 46:52SPEAKER_11: It's one of those.
- 46:53SPEAKER_11: I bought it.
- 46:54SPEAKER_16: Oh, you did?
- 46:55SPEAKER_11: I did, I did.
- 46:56SPEAKER_11: But oh my God, it's so I don't know.
- 46:59SPEAKER_16: Derek saw it.
- 47:00SPEAKER_16: My my boyfriend, Derek, my friend, I don't know where we're at.
- 47:03SPEAKER_16: It's not important.
- 47:04SPEAKER_16: We're best friends.
- 47:05SPEAKER_16: There you go.
- 47:05SPEAKER_16: He saw it and he loved it, and he had the same reaction.
- 47:08SPEAKER_16: He's like, you should watch it, but also, you know, it might be sad.
- 47:12SPEAKER_11: Yeah, be prepared.
- 47:13SPEAKER_11: It's uh it's a kind of a tearjerker, but yeah, it's it's and I've never seen Nolte, not Nick Nolte, uh Nicolas Cage.
- 47:19SPEAKER_11: Uh I've never seen him like that.
- 47:21SPEAKER_16: Yes, I am such a defender of Nicolas Cage.
- 47:24SPEAKER_16: Everybody thinks that he's a hack, you know.
- 47:26SPEAKER_16: Oh, he'll do any movie.
- 47:28SPEAKER_16: No, he makes all these crazy, weird, low budget movies because he just likes to work.
- 47:33SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 47:33SPEAKER_16: But when he really sits down and focuses on a role, he is fabulous.
- 47:37SPEAKER_11: Okay, so you're gonna have to watch that so then so that you can do I would like to hear your take on it.
- 47:43SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 47:44SPEAKER_11: I I fell in love with it.
- 47:45SPEAKER_11: But I'm anxious to hear what you gotta say about this other one, too.
- 47:48SPEAKER_11: Um, because I'm interested.
- 47:49SPEAKER_11: I well, I love Jackie O.
- 47:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah, well, and it's not about her actually.
- 47:54SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:54SPEAKER_16: She's mentioned in it, and it's just fascinating to think that she had this, I don't know.
- 47:58SPEAKER_11: Influence?
- 47:59SPEAKER_16: Uh no, it's about her her cousin and her aunt.
- 48:03SPEAKER_16: Um they're it's kind of complicated how they got there, but it's a true story?
- 48:08SPEAKER_16: It's a true story, and it's it's they're it's a documentary, so they go into this old rundown.
- 48:13SPEAKER_11: Well, hold on now.
- 48:13SPEAKER_16: You don't want to give a whole But you don't even know what it's about yet because you still think it's about Jackie Oh.
- 48:19SPEAKER_16: It has nothing to do with her.
- 48:21SPEAKER_11: I don't any longer think it's about Jackie O'S.
- 48:23SPEAKER_11: Okay, cool.
- 48:23SPEAKER_11: It has nothing to do with Jackie Onassis.
- 48:26SPEAKER_16: Stop soiling her name.
- 48:29SPEAKER_16: Stop it.
- 48:30SPEAKER_16: No, okay.
- 48:30SPEAKER_16: Anyway, sorry.
- 48:31SPEAKER_16: I was getting very heated because I f really like that movie, and it's just about two very unique, different people.
- 48:36SPEAKER_11: Perfect.
- 48:37SPEAKER_11: All right.
- 48:37SPEAKER_11: I'm glad I'm I'm glad.
- 48:38SPEAKER_11: I can't wait to hear about it.
- 48:40SPEAKER_16: Thank you.
- 48:40SPEAKER_11: You just got, you know, you still when you because uh for some reason, oh, I saw a Seinfeld episode where Elaine gets hired because she looks like Jackie O.
- 48:48SPEAKER_11: So that's forward in my mind, kind of.
- 48:51SPEAKER_11: Okay, cool.
- 48:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 48:52SPEAKER_16: Oh, she's yeah, I love Jackie O.
- 48:54SPEAKER_16: I could talk about her all day too.
- 48:56SPEAKER_16: Did you ever see that Natalie Portman movie where she played Jackie O?
- 48:59SPEAKER_11: I don't think I have, no.
- 49:00SPEAKER_16: I haven't either.
- 49:03SPEAKER_16: I just know everybody was giving her a really hard time.
- 49:07SPEAKER_11: You're a typical date for me.
- 49:10SPEAKER_11: You're not allowed.
- 49:12SPEAKER_16: I couldn't find it.
- 49:13SPEAKER_16: Oh, well, everyone was giving Natalie Portman a hard time because she was doing Jackie O'Nassis's very unique voice, and everyone was like, why does she sound so weird?
- 49:21SPEAKER_16: And it's like, that's how Jackie O talked.
- 49:23SPEAKER_11: She had a very unique voice.
- 49:25SPEAKER_12: Yes, there's There's no other there's no other, there'll never be another Kiev in Lot.
- 49:29SPEAKER_12: There'll never be another Kiev in Lot.
- 49:31SPEAKER_16: That's a that's a terrible impression, but it's close.
- 49:34SPEAKER_11: It's close.
- 49:37SPEAKER_11: You're you're you are a character actor for sure.
- 49:40SPEAKER_16: Thank you.
- 49:40SPEAKER_16: I'd love to learn her accent because it doesn't exist anymore.
- 49:43SPEAKER_16: It was very high, like uh rich people in Boston spoke that way.
- 49:48SPEAKER_11: Boston, no, it's Boston.
- 49:50SPEAKER_16: No, it's uh pack the cat, have it yet.
- 49:53SPEAKER_16: There you go.
- 49:55SPEAKER_16: I'm from Boston.
- 49:56SPEAKER_16: I'm sorry, where?
- 49:57SPEAKER_16: Uh pack the cat, have it yad.
- 49:59SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay.
- 50:00SPEAKER_16: I understand now.
- 50:03SPEAKER_11: All right.
- 50:04SPEAKER_16: Now that we're thoroughly off track.
- 50:06SPEAKER_11: Yeah, so uh we're we're Sunday morning morning souls.
- 50:10SPEAKER_11: Soul.
- 50:11SPEAKER_11: I got a lot of.
- 50:12SPEAKER_11: And it's gonna fit with our program.
- 50:13SPEAKER_11: It here's 11 o'clock on K SJE.
- 50:16SPEAKER_19: Mm-hmm.
- 50:17SPEAKER_11: I I I expect a couple of brownie points from you today because I haven't once got the call letters incorrect.
- 50:24SPEAKER_16: I would give you brownie points, except you haven't gotten them incorrect for like the last three shows.
- 50:29SPEAKER_16: So Really?
- 50:30SPEAKER_11: I've done that good?
- 50:31SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 50:31SPEAKER_11: Oh my god, you've got a rose pinning on my nose.
- 50:34SPEAKER_16: There you go.
- 50:35SPEAKER_16: I would give you brownie points, but I mean you need to cash them in for something better.
- 50:38SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 50:39SPEAKER_16: So we'll we'll we'll cash them in for you.
- 50:42SPEAKER_11: Okay, super.
- 50:43SPEAKER_11: Give me another Go ahead.
- 50:45SPEAKER_11: No, what were we gonna say?
- 50:46SPEAKER_16: I was just gonna make another dumb joke.
- 50:47SPEAKER_16: I was gonna say, we'll cash them in, we'll get you the convertible.
- 50:51SPEAKER_16: But without further ado, I do have some another song.
- 50:55SPEAKER_11: That was just a lot of doo-doo.
- 50:57SPEAKER_11: Without further do do.
- 50:58SPEAKER_16: Without further do do, here's something nicer.
- 51:01SPEAKER_16: This is Mr.
- 51:02SPEAKER_16: Nat King Cole.
- 51:04SPEAKER_16: Oh, I love him too.
- 51:05SPEAKER_16: And I'm so glad you remembered him because I personally think he's unforgettable.
- 51:09SPEAKER_16: Oh nice, nice segue.
- 51:12SPEAKER_11: Thanks.
- 51:32SPEAKER_09: Unforgettable, only our fat of love that clings to me, how the father you does things to me never before has someone been bore unforgettable in every way and forevermore that's how you stay.
- 52:25SPEAKER_09: That's why, darling, it's incredible that someone so unforgettable thinks that I am unforgettable to the bigger.
- 53:40SPEAKER_09: And forevermore that's how you stay.
- 53:50SPEAKER_09: That's why, darling, it's incredible that someone so unforgettable thinks that I am unforgettable too.
- 54:18SPEAKER_11: You're the you you you have the best picker.
- 54:20SPEAKER_16: Thank you.
- 54:21SPEAKER_11: Is your nose clean too?
- 54:23SPEAKER_16: It's way too clean.
- 54:25SPEAKER_16: I I am a good picker.
- 54:28SPEAKER_11: Obviously so.
- 54:29SPEAKER_11: Hey, I've got to cover something real quick.
- 54:31SPEAKER_11: Because I'm gonna get your opinion.
- 54:32SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 54:33SPEAKER_11: But um my counterpart for male encounters, my co-host, Ken.
- 54:38SPEAKER_11: Ken Collins, Marketing! I swore I wasn't gonna do that for him again.
- 54:43SPEAKER_11: Anyway, um she thinks maybe I'm a little too pretentious or egotistical.
- 54:50SPEAKER_11: Egotistical.
- 54:52SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 54:53SPEAKER_16: Um self-centered.
- 54:57SPEAKER_11: Yeah, probably.
- 54:57SPEAKER_11: And I know that I am somewhat.
- 54:59SPEAKER_11: I I'm okay with that.
- 55:00SPEAKER_11: I own that.
- 55:01SPEAKER_16: My thing is I think everyone's a little self-centered because that's how you survive in this world.
- 55:05SPEAKER_11: Exactly.
- 55:05SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 55:06SPEAKER_11: But uh, I don't think she understands that you know, trying to get hosting and y you get it because you pick up when I'm not doing your like right there.
- 55:18SPEAKER_19: Uh-huh.
- 55:19SPEAKER_11: And sometimes I interrupt you, your thought, uh, and that's where I need to get better at to to back off and let you finish your thought.
- 55:26SPEAKER_16: Oh, well, a lot of the times, um I if I do have a thought that I need to finish, I trust you enough to like trust me to listen to me.
- 55:36SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 55:37SPEAKER_16: Trust you to trust me.
- 55:39SPEAKER_16: Um, I don't know, maybe it's because I know you, but I don't feel like you step on me or step on my words.
- 55:45SPEAKER_16: Often I am thankful for when I'm talking too much and you go, okay, well, let's go to the next thing.
- 55:51SPEAKER_16: And then I'm like, oh yeah, okay, yeah, I was talking a lot.
- 55:55SPEAKER_16: So I'm not offended when you talk over or do that.
- 55:58SPEAKER_11: I I I have tried to let you run, you know, and and Ken, I I love Ken, don't get me wrong.
- 56:04SPEAKER_11: But he has a tendency, he wants to think before he speaks.
- 56:08SPEAKER_19: Yes.
- 56:08SPEAKER_16: So there's this like even just that made me uncomfortable.
- 56:16SPEAKER_11: So you get you're a radio person.
- 56:17SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 56:18SPEAKER_11: And that's what I try to explain to her.
- 56:19SPEAKER_11: As a radio person, it's not that I like to hear myself talk, because I really don't like the sound of my voice.
- 56:25SPEAKER_16: I don't either.
- 56:26SPEAKER_11: And I know people are gonna laugh, like, oh BS, but it's the truth.
- 56:30SPEAKER_11: Um I never I never thought I had a great voice.
- 56:33SPEAKER_16: Other people tell me my voice is okay, and that's why I continue to do radio.
- 56:37SPEAKER_11: Your voice is stellar.
- 56:38SPEAKER_11: Thank you.
- 56:39SPEAKER_11: So thank you.
- 56:40SPEAKER_16: I disagree, but thank you.
- 56:41SPEAKER_11: Well, you have the right to do so.
- 56:43SPEAKER_11: It's your voice.
- 56:44SPEAKER_11: You can do with it whatever you want.
- 56:45SPEAKER_16: Thank you.
- 56:46SPEAKER_11: But anyway, alright, so I just want to get that off my chest.
- 56:50SPEAKER_11: Um, I'm gonna try the next show that I do with Ken, I'm just gonna I'm gonna do the introduction and then I'm just gonna sit there and look at him.
- 56:59SPEAKER_11: Not to be mean, but just to see what he does with it.
- 57:03SPEAKER_16: To test him.
- 57:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 57:04SPEAKER_16: And I think that's something people forget a lot when you're running a show, is it has to be entertaining.
- 57:10SPEAKER_16: And it's it's a little I get so frustrated when I'm recording with somebody who's doing it for the first time, and they just keep going on and on and on and on about inane little details.
- 57:21SPEAKER_16: And I want to be polite, obviously, and I also want to encourage them to speak more.
- 57:27SPEAKER_16: It's just you have to remember like this isn't just a conversation with your buddy.
- 57:32SPEAKER_16: People are listening to this, and you want to make it interesting so that they will continue to listen.
- 57:37SPEAKER_16: And so the dial, please.
- 57:40SPEAKER_16: Yeah, and even just a moment of silence on the radio can uh make people bored enough to switch.
- 57:47SPEAKER_11: All right, here's what we're gonna do.
- 57:48SPEAKER_11: Uh, I think we're almost out of time.
- 57:50SPEAKER_11: We got time for one more song, though, right?
- 57:51SPEAKER_16: Uh we yes, we do.
- 57:52SPEAKER_11: Okay, so here's the deal.
- 57:54SPEAKER_11: Say our goodbyes, and then invite everybody to join us uh on uh the uh after the show.
- 58:01SPEAKER_11: After the show show.
- 58:02SPEAKER_11: Well, the internet version.
- 58:03SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 58:04SPEAKER_11: Uh we used to call it after the show show, but it's not really still a part of the show.
- 58:08SPEAKER_16: To me, that's what I call it in my head.
- 58:10SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 58:11SPEAKER_11: Um but it's a continuation.
- 58:13SPEAKER_16: The okay.
- 58:14SPEAKER_11: There could be cussing because we try not to cuss on KSJ.
- 58:18SPEAKER_16: KSJE Sunday morning wake up call extension number 4432 on internet.
- 58:24SPEAKER_11: That's what this show is called.
- 58:25SPEAKER_11: There you go.
- 58:26SPEAKER_11: All right.
- 58:27SPEAKER_16: So, anyway, it's the Sunday morning smooth.
- 58:33SPEAKER_16: Uh the uh what did I call it?
- 58:35SPEAKER_16: Sunday morning soul.
- 58:36SPEAKER_11: Soul, yeah.
- 58:37SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 58:38SPEAKER_11: You know, that gives me goosebumps every time we say, and just the way you say it, you're like excited about it.
- 58:42SPEAKER_16: Sunday morning soul.
- 58:43SPEAKER_11: Alright, so give our last song for this show, and then we'll we're gonna have a Rin rant.
- 58:48SPEAKER_11: We've already told you what we're gonna rant or what she's ranting about.
- 58:50SPEAKER_11: I'm just gonna sit around and go, uh-huh.
- 58:51SPEAKER_11: Uh-huh.
- 58:53SPEAKER_11: And uh then we'll have a couple more songs, I'm sure.
- 58:56SPEAKER_16: I got a little bit of wisdom for us, though, before we head out.
- 58:58SPEAKER_11: Oh, lay it on me.
- 59:00SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 59:01SPEAKER_16: This one comes to us from Annie Dillard.
- 59:04SPEAKER_16: You've got to jump off of cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.
- 59:09SPEAKER_16: Ooh.
- 59:11SPEAKER_16: That's how life feels like for me every day.
- 59:13SPEAKER_11: I have done that more than I care to mention.
- 59:16SPEAKER_16: You gotta do it.
- 59:17SPEAKER_11: I've got lumps on the head because I didn't get those damn things built before I hit the ground.
- 59:22SPEAKER_16: But some of those times you did.
- 59:23SPEAKER_11: I absolutely, and I got glided like an angel.
- 59:27SPEAKER_11: What was that metaphor?
- 59:28SPEAKER_16: That was beautiful.
- 59:29SPEAKER_16: Just don't fly too close to the sun.
- 59:31SPEAKER_11: No.
- 59:32SPEAKER_11: Burns your ass.
- 59:36SPEAKER_16: Well, Dave, I'm so glad we had this time together.
- 59:41SPEAKER_11: We got a little bit more time to play this song.
- 59:43SPEAKER_11: Oh.
- 59:45SPEAKER_16: I thought we were saying our goodbyes.
- 59:47SPEAKER_11: We are, but we get for the K SJE listeners.
- 59:50SPEAKER_16: Yeah, exactly.
- 59:50SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 59:51SPEAKER_16: Oh, okay.
- 59:51SPEAKER_16: Well, goodbye.
- 59:53SPEAKER_16: For some reason I thought there was more to it.
- 59:55SPEAKER_11: No, I don't know.
- 59:57SPEAKER_11: Maybe there is.
- 59:57SPEAKER_11: I've I've forgotten.
- 59:58SPEAKER_11: Who knows?
- 59:59SPEAKER_16: Here's a little Frankie Sinatra for you.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_11: Oh, lovely.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_16: Oh, blue eyes.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_11: Yes, indeed.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_03: Fly me to the moon.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_03: Let me play among the stars.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_03: Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_03: In other words, hold my hand.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_03: In other words, baby, kiss me.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_03: Fill my heart with song, and let me sing forevermore.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_03: You are all I long for, all I worship, and a dog.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_03: In other words, in other words, I love you.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_20: You let other people make a fool of you.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_20: Why don't you do right?
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_20: Like some other men do.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_20: You sitting down wondering what it's all about.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_20: If you ain't got no money, they will put you out.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_20: Why don't you do right?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_20: Like some other men do.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_20: Get out of here.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_20: Get me some money too.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_20: If you had prepared years ago, you wouldn't be wandering now.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_20: From dog to door, why don't you do right?
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_20: Like some other men do.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_20: Get out of here, get me some money too.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_20: We ain't got the mother, they will put you out.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_20: Why don't you do?
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_20: Do do right.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_20: Like the motherman do.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_20: When I found you in all you got to offer me is a drink of gin.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_20: Why don't you do right, baby?
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_20: Like those other men do.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_20: Get out of here.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_20: Get me some money too.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_20: I said, get out of here, and get me some money too.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_20: Do right by me.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_11: I'm not bad.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_11: I'm just strong.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_11: I'm not bad.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_11: I'm just strong that way.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_16: That's that is uh Natalie Cole singing uh Why Don't You Do Right, which is of course the song Jessica Rabbit sings in Roger Rabbit.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_11: And oh that was that was hot.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_16: That was pretty amazing.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_16: Natalie Cole, who as a kid I would always call Natalie King.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_16: Cole, because her dad's not King Cole.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_11: Yeah, Natalie King Cole.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_16: And I was like, Oh, that's her name.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_11: King Cole is the last name, hadn't it?
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_16: Exactly.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_11: Oh, you know, we had such great.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_11: We were talking too off mic.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_11: I I just the the Roger Rabbit.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_11: I'm gonna watch it.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_11: I'm gonna go and watch it.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_16: Please do, yeah.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_16: Who framed Roger Rabbit?
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_16: Like treat yourself.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_16: Because um, I think adults and kids can like it.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_16: As a kid, adored it.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_16: As an adult, I love it, and I I appreciate the jokes that I didn't get when I was a kid.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_11: Well, you know, it's funny because it is definitely animated, and we were talking, oh, we were talking about which has been my salvation of most of my life until recently.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_11: But why does why does she like Roger?
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_11: He was such a goofball.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_16: Yeah, because he makes her laugh.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_11: That's right.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_11: That was her quote.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_16: And that has always been to me, Roger Rabbit and Jessica Rabbit being a couple was never weird for me, other than being a rabbit.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_11: I never thought it was weird either, other than height.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_16: But of course, she's gonna love the guy who likes her as a person and loves her.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_16: I'm sure everybody's after her.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_16: No.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_16: She's focusing on the little goofball who makes her laugh and makes her feel important.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_11: That's right.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_16: Anyway, that's that's that's true.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_16: Love right there.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_11: I'm not mad.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_11: I'm just drawn that way.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_11: Nice job.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_16: Man, and okay, never mind.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_16: Sorry.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_16: Now I'm gonna go on a different Ren rant.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_16: But I actually have a Ren rant for you.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_16: Oh, let's see.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_16: Let's lay lay it on you, man.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_11: Paid to talk on that radio.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_13: Time for film rant with Ren.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_13: Tate 'em or love 'em.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_13: New or classic, Ren Rants on them all.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_16: La la la la la la la Ren Rants.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_16: What's up, everybody?
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_16: Today we're talking about a not so classic y Hollywood movie.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_16: Um, this one is Gray Gardens, 1975, documentary, and is a total cult classic.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_11: Um before you go too far, I want to ask one thing.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_11: Because I I want to know this up front because I haven't asked that before.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_11: Because the last rant a couple rants ago, you didn't like the movie at all.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_16: Yeah, Uncharted.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_11: Okay, so yeah, so did you like this movie?
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_11: Loved it.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_11: Okay, so really loved it.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_11: Okay, now continue.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_16: Okay, so um Great Gardens is the uh documentary about uh Big Edie and Little Edie.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_16: Those aren't their real names, but it's a mother and a daughter who are living in this dilapidated, run-down manor that used to be their family's home until um uh the big Edie's husband sort of abandoned their family, and they just were living in this house while it was sort of falling apart around them until uh the state was like, You gotta fix this or else we're tearing down the house.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_16: And Jackie O heard about it, and she's like, Oh, my poor family.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_16: So she goes in and she fix up the house.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_16: And that got these two uh uh characters, Big Edie and Little Edie, a lot of national attention.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_11: Well, of course.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_16: And um so these documentarians came in and st and made a movie about them, and it really is just their day-to-day life.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_16: You just see what they're doing, but in this giant old falling apart house that has raccoons in it and and cats, and I mean obviously they're not um they're not degenerates, these two people are they're the mother is just old and the daughter is like in her fifties and not a lot of money left, and um they're just kind of surviving.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_16: Little Edie is just the most interesting person I've ever seen portrayed on a movie screen.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_16: She is uh developed alopecia, so she's bald, and so she ties these elaborate scarves around her head and creates these really ridiculous, elaborate outfits, and runs around the house dancing and singing and talking about all of her missed opportunities.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_16: Oh, if only mother let me marry that one boy.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_16: And it's just like fascinating.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_16: And I really related to little Edie.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_16: She she and she's got that, she's got that weird accent that that Jackie Ow had.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_16: Oh, I the label on the can is faded.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_16: I can never tell if it's giblets, if if it's if it's chicken or giblets for the cats.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_16: You know, she's talking like that.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_16: She's got she she can't read, so she's got a little tiny magnifying glass.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_16: It's a very funny movie, very like heart, pulls my pulled it by heartstrings, and uh a little a little tragic because I wouldn't say either of these two people are like crazy or or um, you know, they're not horrible people, they're just weird who have been given a weird lot in life and are still surviving somehow together.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_16: So great gardens, I love it.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_16: It's so funny.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_11: They own the weirdness.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_16: They own it, yeah, 100%.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_11: Cool.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_11: All right, well, that's another one I'm gonna have to put in my category to watch.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_16: Yeah, if you're in the mood for like an artsy 70s documentary, that's the one, baby.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_11: I always love your rants, Rin.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_16: Thank you.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_16: I mean that that's why you hired us, right?
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_13: That's right.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_13: Be listening each week for yet another ranting with Rin.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_11: And you, sweetheart, you are just playing mean.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_13: She's relentless.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I've got to work on that so that uh that we don't have that non-music in there.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_11: I'll figure something out.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_16: I we could probably if you just make the gap in between shorter, because I'm usually pretty quick on that button.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_16: If I just I'll stop it and start it again.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_11: Yeah, you are.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_11: Once we've you're you're getting more accustomed to the board, I think.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_11: To the new board.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_11: Yes, right, to the new board.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_11: All right, so uh I think we uh gotta do one more song, and then I think it's time to go home.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_11: It's time for me to go to bed.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you you've been up all day.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_16: Twelve hours.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_11: No, beyond that, up since three.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_16: Oh my god, 14 hours, this man is going on.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_16: Well, God bless you.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_11: Well, it's a typical day.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_11: It's a typical day in my world.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_11: I get up at three, I go to bed at eight.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_16: We're pretty close to your bedtime.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_16: I guess uh these days I don't get up too far after you either because I get up at like 5 45.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_11: You're going back to school.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_11: I mean, to teach, obviously.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_16: But well.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_16: Let's get us out of here.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_16: I I have one of your favorites, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_16: Figure ended on a high note.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_11: Good.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_11: Now listen, let's reinform.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_11: This is the Sunday morning.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_16: Uh, this is Sunday morning soul.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_11: Soul, yeah.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_16: So this is.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_16: Well, that I told you jazz.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I like soul better.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_11: Me too.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_11: So, yeah.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_16: It encompasses a bit more of the theme.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_11: And I think this was a great pair-up to uh Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_11: I mean, come on, their voices uh butter.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_16: And it was definitely the album that made people realize my dad especially couldn't stand Lady Gaga, thought she was just a gimmick, listened to the Tony Bennett album, and he was like, oh no, this is an artist.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_11: Well, she can't, she can do anything, really.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_16: And anything you goes, you know.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_16: Cole Porter classic from the 1920s.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_11: All right, Ryan.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_11: Oh, I belched at the same time.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_11: Sorry.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_11: All right, Rand.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_11: Excuse me.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_19: All right, Dave.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_11: Yeah, you said something about your dad, and so you know, the dad in me comes up.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_11: Yeah, we better hurry.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_11: I'll be farting soon.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_19: All right, all right.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_11: Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, take us out of here.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_11: Bye bye.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_11: Have a good week, you guys.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_00: In old in days a glimpse of stalking was looked down as something shocking.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_00: Now heaven knows.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_00: Anything goes.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_07: Now only use for letter words, writing promes.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_07: Anything goes.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_07: The world is coming mad today, and goods bad today.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_07: And this point today, I'm like split today.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_07: The most common today, the woman promised today.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_07: I just romancer.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_00: I know you're bound to end the when we prove it.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_08: I guess about today.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_08: I guess quite today.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_08: What's my today?
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_08: My most nice today, the woman prize today.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_06: Anything goes! Anything go! Anything goes.
