- 0:42Speaker 1: and Pudding. And today I have a wonderful guest and
- 0:46Speaker 1: my friends and a person that I just met recently
- 0:49Speaker 1: and we just clicked and hit it off, Miss Paul
- 0:51Speaker 1: at Sally, And I say, I just said your last
- 0:53Speaker 1: name the wrong way again. I was calling her. I'm
- 0:56Speaker 1: calling a Sally. It's Sally Sally. Yes, I just said
- 0:59Speaker 1: it right, it's and I've been saying telling everybody name
- 1:01Speaker 1: is Paul at Zela. So I finally said the right
- 1:04Speaker 1: way down that you corrected me. So welcome to my show.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Well, Jen, thank you for having me here, finally out here.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm excited here and in my office, and she's also
- 1:14Speaker 1: my client. Can I say that absolutely, that's I don't
- 1:16Speaker 1: want to they'll get in trouble hip hop.
- 1:18Speaker 3: No, No, absolutely. I love Jen and I'm so glad
- 1:22Speaker 3: to be here.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Thank you over you too. Yes, so tell us about
- 1:25Speaker 1: your journey. We know that we well, we're going to
- 1:28Speaker 1: know that you have. You were I had an issue
- 1:32Speaker 1: what issue with wait and lost a significant amount and
- 1:37Speaker 1: now you've been in magazines and have been talking about
- 1:41Speaker 1: your journey. So tell me about it.
- 1:43Speaker 3: So the journey actually began two years ago Tomorrow, twelfth
- 1:48Speaker 3: of two thousand and twenty.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Two before text day before tex Yes.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I did so. My family and I traveled to Florida
- 1:57Speaker 2: and East.
- 1:58Speaker 3: It was Easter Sunday at that time, and we decided
- 2:01Speaker 3: that we were going.
- 2:02Speaker 2: To go to a beach, Juno Beach to be exact.
- 2:05Speaker 3: And I automatically got nervous because I'm like, I am
- 2:10Speaker 3: not putting a bathing suit on. How I'm fifty nine now,
- 2:14Speaker 3: I'll be sixteen in July. Thank you very good, so
- 2:19Speaker 3: I said, okay, we'll go. And I was completely clothed,
- 2:24Speaker 3: like from head to toe, and you know, sitting on
- 2:27Speaker 3: the beach, and I'm looking around and it's a beautiful day,
- 2:31Speaker 3: and there's young kids, there's older women, older men.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, why am I sitting.
- 2:38Speaker 3: On this beach fully clothed like this, you know, and
- 2:41Speaker 3: in shame because at that point, I weigh two hundred
- 2:44Speaker 3: and fifty two pounds, being only five four inches, I
- 2:49Speaker 3: lost one hundred and five pounds.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And how did you do? How did you do? The way? Long?
- 2:53Speaker 2: So I did it naturally?
- 2:56Speaker 3: Well, originally I was going to have the gastric bypass.
- 2:59Speaker 2: You did it right. So I had seen the surgeon
- 3:02Speaker 2: and she said, so look, she says, you obesely overweight.
- 3:09Speaker 3: She says, I need you to lose at least twenty
- 3:11Speaker 3: pounds to help the surgery.
- 3:13Speaker 1: So you can't go into that surgery if you're too oldwaight,
- 3:16Speaker 1: because of you know, if they have to intibate you
- 3:19Speaker 1: and it can affect you your respiratory, you might not
- 3:22Speaker 1: be able to exactly exactly that's the problem.
- 3:26Speaker 3: So I said, okay, the reason I'm here is because
- 3:29Speaker 3: I don't I can't lose the weight.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You know, it's like a catch twenty it's a catch
- 3:34Speaker 1: twenty two.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So I said, okay, let me let me think about this,
- 3:40Speaker 2: let me see what I'm gonna do.
- 3:42Speaker 3: But going back to, you know, the day that I
- 3:45Speaker 3: had decided that this was going to be the first
- 3:47Speaker 3: day of the rest of my life.
- 3:50Speaker 2: That was that April twelfth of.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Twenty twenty two, sitting on the beach because I saw
- 3:55Speaker 3: all these people enjoying themselves in bikinis, in one piece
- 3:59Speaker 3: bathing suits.
- 4:00Speaker 1: But let's be honest, not everybody looked good in their
- 4:02Speaker 1: bikinis and their babies. So you're just thinking that you
- 4:05Speaker 1: in my mind, you're you're the one who looks horrible.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And it's great exactly because I see plenty of people
- 4:10Speaker 1: on the beach and I'm going, if they could stand
- 4:12Speaker 1: there and being a baby in a bikini, then I
- 4:15Speaker 1: should never be embarrassed at wall exactly because they're walking
- 4:19Speaker 1: around like who they are, and that's what I'm good
- 4:21Speaker 1: for them. And they're very good.
- 4:23Speaker 3: They were very confident in their skin, and I wanted
- 4:26Speaker 3: to be confident in my skin, but I just didn't.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Hey, what do you think that made you? Why did
- 4:29Speaker 1: you feel that way. Why I feel like, what are
- 4:31Speaker 1: some women or some certain people feel that way and
- 4:35Speaker 1: others don't don't care.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I'm glad you said that, because it's how people perceive you.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I've had people say to me, oh, you can't wear that,
- 4:43Speaker 3: you're too heavy, you're too too fat, you know, do
- 4:46Speaker 3: something with your face.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Who did that too? Did your mother or grandmother do that?
- 4:50Speaker 3: I had family members who did that. I have to
- 4:52Speaker 3: work good friends who did that to.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Me as well.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So I believed it.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I believed in what they were saying. You're fat and
- 4:58Speaker 3: you're ugly.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yep. And it's said that it comes from sometimes a
- 5:02Speaker 1: family member. My grandmother used to do that with us,
- 5:05Speaker 1: like she would pick our flaw and if we if
- 5:08Speaker 1: something like just say my sister Mary, she always had
- 5:11Speaker 1: a bat with with with weight. Like my grandmother would
- 5:13Speaker 1: be like, well, you know, Mary, you are gaining some weight.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Or with me, oh Jen, you know you you to
- 5:18Speaker 1: me too, you know you are gaining some weight. You
- 5:20Speaker 1: know because I was we I guess I was always
- 5:22Speaker 1: skinny and she would always point that out to us
- 5:26Speaker 1: all the time. And that's like coming from your grandmother, right,
- 5:29Speaker 1: that would be your grandma usually the one of us
- 5:31Speaker 1: to feed you, like, well, she did feed on pa,
- 5:35Speaker 1: but but she would tell us and she would be
- 5:38Speaker 1: you know, and that I think made my sister gain
- 5:41Speaker 1: more weight because she was always talked told about it,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and you know, it's kind of like what's instilled on
- 5:48Speaker 1: you exactly.
- 5:49Speaker 3: So that was my mindset all these years until that
- 5:52Speaker 3: day I said, Nope, this is going to be the
- 5:55Speaker 3: first day of the rest of my life. I'm going
- 5:56Speaker 3: to make a change. I'm going to lose this weight
- 6:00Speaker 3: no matter what. And I want to be able to
- 6:02Speaker 3: fit into jeans. That was my goal, is to fit
- 6:04Speaker 3: into jeans.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And how did you feel the first day you put
- 6:08Speaker 1: them on? So back on?
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yes, I'm going to say the first day I put
- 6:12Speaker 3: them back on, I was like, Wow, I'm looking at
- 6:13Speaker 3: myself in the mirror and I'm like, I.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Have a shape.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I have you know, I have hips, I have waists.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You know. I look great. I mean, and you're not
- 6:22Speaker 1: where you're losing too much weight. You're not going I did.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It very plea.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I'm still on my journey. But it's two years.
- 6:28Speaker 1: In and you still want to lose weight or you're
- 6:30Speaker 1: happy a little bit more.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I think you know, just a few more pounds here
- 6:34Speaker 3: and there.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The room for a while. Yeah, so if you eat
- 6:38Speaker 1: a little bit too much, yeah, but that's but that's
- 6:41Speaker 1: good that you're not putting this this on unattainable you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: uh goal on yourself because you know, yeah, I want
- 6:52Speaker 1: to weigh one hundred and ten pounds like I did
- 6:55Speaker 1: when I was in high school. But it's not attainable
- 6:57Speaker 1: because I'm going to look on my First of all,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I amazing sated, right, and we did not have the
- 7:01Speaker 1: body that we have now with the hormones. You know,
- 7:04Speaker 1: it's all about hormones. It's all about age, metopause. I mean,
- 7:07Speaker 1: there are so many things that so many factors that
- 7:09Speaker 1: cause exactly gain right, And it's very hard for women. Men.
- 7:13Speaker 1: It's so annoying that they could lose weight like this
- 7:15Speaker 1: a month they lose twenty pounds. I want to punch
- 7:18Speaker 1: them at a face like that. So true, right, and
- 7:20Speaker 1: they don't then they cod eat differently than the way
- 7:23Speaker 1: we do exactly. So you never did ozempic No, I've.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Never done any of the injections. I am insulin resistant,
- 7:32Speaker 3: so I know at some point I'm gonna plateau. So
- 7:35Speaker 3: it's something that maybe I'll be looking into because it
- 7:38Speaker 3: may help on the duel end.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but you might not be a candidate because that's
- 7:43Speaker 1: what it is. It's it's it blocks insulin. So I
- 7:46Speaker 1: don't know if you have to see if if you
- 7:49Speaker 1: are a candidate it because of that. I don't know.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I have to look. I've
- 7:54Speaker 1: done it. I lost forty three pounds. I know you
- 7:57Speaker 1: look great, amazing, and I'm gonna say that it I
- 8:02Speaker 1: have my blood pressure lowered. I'm not shouting out. It was.
- 8:06Speaker 1: They should they should, definitely, they should definitely spot up pick.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I'm shouting you out. My blood pressure went down and
- 8:12Speaker 1: my cholesterol went down. And that's all lifestyle change. Just
- 8:15Speaker 1: because my diet changed.
- 8:16Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Same with me.
- 8:18Speaker 3: My blood pressure medication was decreased, my thyroid medication was decreased.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I'm off acid reflux medications.
- 8:25Speaker 1: It's it's I.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Had like maybe ten different medications.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Now I have to but it all and it's lifestyle,
- 8:31Speaker 1: lifestyle big And you know what, doctors don't push that
- 8:35Speaker 1: lifestyle change. No, they don't because they want you to
- 8:38Speaker 1: be on the medication, because they want you to come back.
- 8:40Speaker 1: They want to get the code page they want to put.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They want to The drug companies need to make money,
- 8:45Speaker 1: so they want to Most people that are on medications
- 8:48Speaker 1: don't need to be on them, right, they really don't.
- 8:50Speaker 1: They don't need to be on it.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Totally agree with you, and so just you know, swinging
- 8:56Speaker 3: back to the surgeon.
- 8:58Speaker 2: So I decided, okay, this is what I need to do.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I need to I was working with a nutritionist because
- 9:03Speaker 3: in order for you to have that surgery, you have
- 9:05Speaker 3: to work.
- 9:05Speaker 2: With a nutritionist.
- 9:07Speaker 3: So with a nutritionist, I went on a protein shake
- 9:10Speaker 3: in the morning replacement meal. I started to eat healthier
- 9:14Speaker 3: and everything steamed, grilled, nothing fried. I cut out a
- 9:19Speaker 3: lot of the complex carbs, pasta, as being Italian is
- 9:23Speaker 3: like the hardest.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Things, like to take it away. Italian bread is like
- 9:26Speaker 1: taking away life.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Right, exactly, Italian bread, your sauce, in your apasta life right.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I don't want to live anymore.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I don't want to live in right.
- 9:34Speaker 3: So the pasta left, the rice left, potatoes, you know,
- 9:38Speaker 3: I cut out a lot of that stuff and I
- 9:40Speaker 3: started eating very clean and so I by the time
- 9:44Speaker 3: I went back to the surgeon, She's like, paul Ette,
- 9:47Speaker 3: you lost forty pounds.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I can't do the surgery because she says, I just can't,
- 9:52Speaker 2: and you're not a candidate now for the surgery. Says
- 9:54Speaker 2: I lost all the weight. So I'm like, okay.
- 9:58Speaker 3: So it just says keep going, And so I kept
- 10:00Speaker 3: the nutritionist and we worked together, and I just kept going.
- 10:06Speaker 3: How I got into modeling and acting. I'm a science teacher,
- 10:11Speaker 3: so I teach chemistry and physics. That's my full time
- 10:14Speaker 3: job for one her eighth grade, believe it or not.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, age.
- 10:22Speaker 3: So I one day one of my students came up
- 10:27Speaker 3: to me and she said, Sally, actually I saw her
- 10:32Speaker 3: uh sweater that she was wearing, and I complimented her
- 10:34Speaker 3: sweater and I said, Sophia, I said, where did you
- 10:38Speaker 3: get that sweater?
- 10:39Speaker 2: I absolutely love it. She says, well, you can't buy
- 10:40Speaker 2: it in the stores. And I said, why not?
- 10:43Speaker 3: Did you buy in the store? She says, no designer
- 10:46Speaker 3: gave it to me because I model. And She's like,
- 10:49Speaker 3: you know what, Misselle, you lost so much weight. You
- 10:51Speaker 3: know you look really nice. Why don't you get in
- 10:54Speaker 3: contact with my agent and do like modeling?
- 10:58Speaker 2: This is something I've.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Always wanted to do forever and ever and ever, and
- 11:03Speaker 3: because my mom was a model for Chanel so back
- 11:07Speaker 3: in the day, in the sixties, and I always wanted
- 11:10Speaker 3: to do what my mom was doing, you know, at
- 11:13Speaker 3: least print and so, long.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Story short, I met with her, I met.
- 11:18Speaker 3: With the team, and they signed me and I went
- 11:23Speaker 3: into I went into school with them. I learned how
- 11:25Speaker 3: to walk, you know, runway. And my first break was
- 11:30Speaker 3: the New Jersey Fashion Week. It was a fundraiser for
- 11:34Speaker 3: you know, for cancer patients and amazing. It was amazing,
- 11:38Speaker 3: and the North Jersey newspapers did a huge article, two
- 11:42Speaker 3: page article on me in the lifestyle section. And from
- 11:46Speaker 3: there I received an email from Lisa max Bauer from
- 11:55Speaker 3: First for Women magazine. I'm so proud of So I'm
- 11:59Speaker 3: not on the cover on that one, but I'm on
- 12:02Speaker 3: the cover of the next one.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So you're sharing the magazine with one of my favorites,
- 12:06Speaker 1: Mary Osby, my favorite shows.
- 12:11Speaker 2: So but I'm in the middle section. And they did this.
- 12:16Speaker 1: They had the.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Makeup artists come, they flew in the photographer. Uh, it
- 12:20Speaker 2: was just an amazing thing. And they did it at
- 12:22Speaker 2: my house and from there everything just started to snowball.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I have been on a TV series American UH Gladiators
- 12:33Speaker 3: American sports story Gladiator. So I had a special scene
- 12:37Speaker 3: with Patrick's uh Schwarzenegger and it's just it's just amazing.
- 12:43Speaker 3: You know, I'm learning so much in this industry because
- 12:47Speaker 3: teaching is very different from this industry. And you know,
- 12:53Speaker 3: I have an upcoming movie that I'm going to be in.
- 12:55Speaker 3: It's called King three Alonso.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Where is that gonna? Where is that? Where was that filmed?
- 13:00Speaker 3: And so it's going to be filmed in the Newark area.
- 13:05Speaker 3: It's about a man who was a detective improvement. He
- 13:09Speaker 3: became a mayor of Newark, and it talks about like
- 13:13Speaker 3: all of the the baggage that came with him and
- 13:17Speaker 3: what happens you know, through the movie. So I'm excited
- 13:21Speaker 3: to not only be in front of the camera, but
- 13:23Speaker 3: I'm also behind the camera. So I'm part of his
- 13:26Speaker 3: line production.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Wow, Yeah, that's amazing. I do. I'm also I also
- 13:31Speaker 1: stought on my own production coup, and I think I
- 13:32Speaker 1: told you that. So we just put out a new
- 13:35Speaker 1: show called Great Kills on On and now Netflix is
- 13:38Speaker 1: very interested in it. And I made my official acting
- 13:42Speaker 1: debut on on the on the series. So I'm excited
- 13:46Speaker 1: and we worked with Eric Roberts, we worked with Kathy
- 13:48Speaker 1: Moriarty and yeah, so's yeah, it's exciting. So that's that's
- 13:52Speaker 1: what that's my has always been my dream in my life,
- 13:56Speaker 1: in my second life career is to do production and
- 13:59Speaker 1: do that that's always wanted to do. So, yeah, it's
- 14:01Speaker 1: an exciting time.
- 14:02Speaker 2: It is.
- 14:03Speaker 3: It is, and you know, at a message for us
- 14:06Speaker 3: and at the age I was just going to say, so.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It's aver fifty guys, it's not over, not over.
- 14:13Speaker 2: At all, as a matter of fact, just beginning.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Thank you. Second life career, that's what it is.
- 14:18Speaker 2: And it's a mindset.
- 14:19Speaker 3: So I want to tell people listen, at fifty or
- 14:22Speaker 3: over fifty, it's not over, like you can change your
- 14:25Speaker 3: life now. You can right here and then you can
- 14:28Speaker 3: change your life.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You know, you can.
- 14:31Speaker 2: See the before picture of what I was looked.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Like before, you know, and when I am now it's
- 14:38Speaker 3: like two different people and my mindset, my whole outlook
- 14:41Speaker 3: of life. I thought life was over, Like at two
- 14:44Speaker 3: hundred and fifty two pounds, life was over for me, and.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Now you're sitting on your life has just begune. Now
- 14:51Speaker 1: you're on.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I'm so happy to be here.
- 14:55Speaker 1: This is amazing. Thank you, I appreciate it. So tell
- 14:58Speaker 1: how about your family? How was it? How would they
- 15:01Speaker 1: involved in the journey?
- 15:02Speaker 3: And yes, I had a big support system. So the
- 15:05Speaker 3: one thing you've really made So I have one daughter,
- 15:07Speaker 3: she's forty, and I.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Can't believe you have a forty year old. That's not crazy.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You have a granddaughter she's ten.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You do not look like it should be a grandma
- 15:17Speaker 1: or a non No, I'm a nonny.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they called me.
- 15:21Speaker 1: That's so cute. Yeah.
- 15:23Speaker 3: So, but they were super supportive, and even my colleagues
- 15:27Speaker 3: were super supportive.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You know.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I would do my way in every single week and
- 15:31Speaker 3: I would text everybody in this group chat and I
- 15:34Speaker 3: lost four pounds, I lost ten pounds.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I lost You know, they would be like, yay, they're
- 15:38Speaker 2: my cheerleaders.
- 15:39Speaker 1: You know that's a big deal to have people who
- 15:41Speaker 1: are behind Joe supporting you. Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Absolutely, you have to have that support.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And the interesting thing is how how did I announce
- 15:48Speaker 3: it to my family that I was starting this journey.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Was that Easter Sunday we went to a restaurant, Italian restaurant.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Uh and we uh, that's rough's.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Right, because you know we're ordering pasta. Everybody's ordering pasta.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question, do you I'm sure,
- 16:05Speaker 1: do you give yourself at least one day that you
- 16:08Speaker 1: can absolutely have to Yes, yes, because honestly, eating this
- 16:12Speaker 1: way is not you know what that's not going to be.
- 16:14Speaker 2: It's the same exactly.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And this is what I tell patients too, even the
- 16:18Speaker 1: patients that I put on the semi glutide, which is
- 16:21Speaker 1: a form of a zempic. It's portion control and that's
- 16:26Speaker 1: really why it works, you know. And and and I
- 16:30Speaker 1: feel like you can't be uncertain, dy's you can It's
- 16:32Speaker 1: not sustainable, right exactly, just not like so you see
- 16:35Speaker 1: yourself like now moving into.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Absolutely so I introduced reintroduced it the pasta and the
- 16:42Speaker 3: rice and the potatoes.
- 16:44Speaker 2: But important like it's portioned.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Because you really shouldn't eat I know with me, as
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm older, I cannot eat a lot of cobs anymore.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm sick, I get I get nauseous from eating too
- 16:54Speaker 1: many cobs. I don't feel good. It makes me feel lousy, lousy, right,
- 16:58Speaker 1: because really our bodies are not meant to digest them,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you know, really go into the if you really go
- 17:03Speaker 1: into like the physics of the whole thing, the physiology
- 17:07Speaker 1: of the whole thing. We as as human beings cobs,
- 17:11Speaker 1: we can't digest them properly. That's why we feel so
- 17:14Speaker 1: bad with the cobs and the sugars exactly.
- 17:17Speaker 3: But on a Sunday when I went to my grandmother's house,
- 17:20Speaker 3: right when I went to Nonea's house.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Fday, we don't care if you don't.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Have two bowls of pasta with the regatta, with the
- 17:26Speaker 2: grated cheese, with the you.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Know, it's like insulting them if you don't.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I get Yes, she got insulted. Are you full of
- 17:31Speaker 3: time of sicilians? Und I understand it all. So the
- 17:35Speaker 3: funny thing is I understood everything. My grandmother would would
- 17:38Speaker 3: speak to.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Me and.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I would speak English so she would understand. So she's
- 17:43Speaker 2: a crazy thing. But so yeah, so now I don't
- 17:47Speaker 2: have two bowls of pasta. Now I'll have a side
- 17:50Speaker 2: dish of pasta.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Which you probably couldn't even eat that big bull of
- 17:53Speaker 1: it if you.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Wanted to, not at all.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the way I feel now too. I now
- 17:58Speaker 1: that now that when I was I've been doing since
- 18:01Speaker 1: I've lost the weak if I if I eat too much.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I don't right, it makes me feel bloated, and I
- 18:09Speaker 1: don't want to feel like that. You know, you don't
- 18:10Speaker 1: realize how much it does affect you. Exactly. Stop eating
- 18:14Speaker 1: it exactly. You know, it's so it's so true. So
- 18:16Speaker 1: you now you're making better choices.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Now, exactly.
- 18:19Speaker 3: And the other component is I'm in the gym three
- 18:21Speaker 3: at least three times.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Oh my god, I wish I had the time to go.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I got it, n I got it. And I could
- 18:27Speaker 1: never do it at night because I'm so exhausted by
- 18:30Speaker 1: the end of the day. I have to start going
- 18:32Speaker 1: in the morning. But now that the weather is nice,
- 18:33Speaker 1: so I'm going to start doing outside activities like I
- 18:35Speaker 1: like to roll a blade, I like to bike ry.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Oh that's great.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I like to roll the skate. So those are things
- 18:40Speaker 1: that I like to do on the outside. You know.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I used to be really big into sports when I
- 18:45Speaker 1: was younger, but I have too many sports injuries. I
- 18:48Speaker 1: can't even begin to play play like sports anymore.
- 18:51Speaker 3: And it's funny because I do feel tired at night myself,
- 18:54Speaker 3: but once I get in the car and I go
- 18:55Speaker 3: to the gym, you feel I feel.
- 18:56Speaker 2: So much better coming out. Yeah, well, like I got
- 18:59Speaker 2: to push.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I wish, you know, I should try it and see
- 19:04Speaker 1: if I could do it at nighttime because it probably
- 19:07Speaker 1: but I just I'm like so sluggish at night.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I just want to, I know, just go to sleep.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I watch Netflix, you know, I watch my watch watch
- 19:17Speaker 1: your documentaries.
- 19:19Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 19:20Speaker 1: What do you do for fun? Be So it's you know,
- 19:23Speaker 1: are you are you? Are you? You're miss still married? Yes?
- 19:27Speaker 2: I am, Yes, I am beautiful.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So forty almost forty one years.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, that's a long timing.
- 19:37Speaker 2: It's a long time.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And he's very supportive.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Of the weight loss journey, yes, very supportive.
- 19:42Speaker 1: About the other No, no, he does no, rather not.
- 19:47Speaker 2: No, he's modeling. Well, he's very old school like modeling.
- 19:51Speaker 3: No, Stevie, No, No, I'm like, yes, you know what
- 19:56Speaker 3: I've become since this whole weight loss journey, I have
- 19:59Speaker 3: become very into which is something that I've always wanted
- 20:02Speaker 3: to do. You know, I've known him since sixteen, you know,
- 20:08Speaker 3: got married at eighteen, had my daughter at nineteen, and
- 20:11Speaker 3: so you know, it's very codependent for a very long time.
- 20:14Speaker 3: And so part of that mindset changed once I made
- 20:19Speaker 3: the decision and so now I've become a lot more independent.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You know, when I find that, it's so funny because
- 20:24Speaker 1: especially women are Italian women, I know, it's it's it's
- 20:28Speaker 1: so funny that no matter what how successful we become,
- 20:31Speaker 1: we always seem to be with the same that with
- 20:34Speaker 1: what we know, right, we always still have those core
- 20:38Speaker 1: that expectations or core values that we have that we
- 20:41Speaker 1: still like. Even with me, I'm like, but I have
- 20:44Speaker 1: I have, i have four businesses, I'm opening up another one,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'm doing all these things, i have a cop podcast,
- 20:49Speaker 1: and I still have to be held to the same Uh,
- 20:54Speaker 1: what's the word, I'm looking for, the same rules, the
- 20:56Speaker 1: same standard. Thank you. Maybe standards are expectations right of
- 21:03Speaker 1: what it what it is to be a wife or
- 21:06Speaker 1: a mother, you know, and sometimes feel shamed about it
- 21:09Speaker 1: if you're not doing as much right as you su
- 21:12Speaker 1: I mean, my kids are all grown, and I'm like,
- 21:14Speaker 1: you're not gonna cook them dinner. I'm like, no, I'm not. No,
- 21:18Speaker 1: they should be cooking me dinner.
- 21:19Speaker 2: They should be cooking you dinner exactly.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Taking care of me now, you know, and helping me out.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So I think it's funny like how it is and
- 21:28Speaker 1: it's it's I think it's still like that for Italian women.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think it's still just a culture.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It's a culture. It's definitely a culture.
- 21:36Speaker 3: You know, men see the women see Italian women in
- 21:39Speaker 3: a certain place, and that's such old school minded that
- 21:44Speaker 3: you know, when there's change, they start to kind of rebel,
- 21:48Speaker 3: you know, and lash out. And so you know, kind
- 21:51Speaker 3: of going through that for the last couple of years.
- 21:53Speaker 3: But you know, as far as the weight loss, super supportive,
- 21:57Speaker 3: you know, just for health, health reasons. Anything else but that,
- 22:02Speaker 3: but health reasons. You know, he's just like, you're off medications.
- 22:05Speaker 3: This is great, that is amazing. So he's just really
- 22:07Speaker 3: happy for me, you know, for that. But you know,
- 22:11Speaker 3: like I said, I'm an independent woman now, so.
- 22:14Speaker 1: And you keep being that an independent woman. Girl. You're amazing.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You're such a light. You're such a pleasure. Thank you.
- 22:21Speaker 1: You have such a great energy. I love talking to you.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And I'm saying, it's it's so nice how people just
- 22:27Speaker 1: come into your life and you know, I know, you
- 22:29Speaker 1: get you connect with them and.
- 22:30Speaker 2: They come into your life for a reason.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I believe that. I believe that too, people come in
- 22:34Speaker 1: to your life for some kind of journey, whether they're
- 22:36Speaker 1: there for a long time for a short time, there's
- 22:39Speaker 1: always a reason why somebody comes in and out. Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Absolutely, And so through the magazines, I've gained a lot
- 22:45Speaker 3: of Instagram followers, yes, and they've been asking me, you know,
- 22:49Speaker 3: all these questions like you know, what did you do?
- 22:52Speaker 2: You know, how did you do it? What foods did
- 22:55Speaker 2: you cook?
- 22:56Speaker 3: How did you cook you know certain foods. So I'm
- 22:59Speaker 3: thinking of maybe possibility of doing something with a cooking show,
- 23:03Speaker 3: maybe on Instagram, like you sure, Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That would be because people, especially for women our age,
- 23:09Speaker 1: they would love to you know, because those are the people.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And I'm not every age would connect, but those women
- 23:14Speaker 1: our age who think that they that's done for them,
- 23:17Speaker 1: right and they can't do it, And here you are,
- 23:20Speaker 1: You're sitting here saying that you can do it. You know,
- 23:22Speaker 1: that would be inspirational living watch. So I would totally
- 23:27Speaker 1: watch that with you. And I bet you have some
- 23:29Speaker 1: great recipes from you, and I do.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I have great Italian recipes that I've modified, the Sicilian recipes, Yes,
- 23:37Speaker 3: the Bishop Mile Creek.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yes, that is like a Staples did your does your
- 23:44Speaker 1: does your grandma? Grandpa? That they pigs for pickled peaks.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Oh my god, yes, and every August and the turk
- 23:50Speaker 3: and the next the turkey necks, the.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Gizards like what are you eating? You know what when
- 23:54Speaker 1: they didn't have anything, they didn't have anything right when
- 23:57Speaker 1: they came over here, and they will pour.
- 23:59Speaker 2: In and every August, the bold can the bone arrow.
- 24:07Speaker 1: What do you want? Freaking carnivore?
- 24:09Speaker 2: You can't.
- 24:11Speaker 3: But the tomato canning, you know, every every August would
- 24:16Speaker 3: be and it was It's like a chipmunk, right, you
- 24:19Speaker 3: just gathered the nuts for the whole winter, you know.
- 24:22Speaker 1: The squirrel. It is such a big you can't. First
- 24:25Speaker 1: of all, it's like gold, right, it's gold. It's gold.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Did you So there's a there's a Brooklyn locket they
- 24:31Speaker 1: have they have the best. I got the best electric
- 24:35Speaker 1: uh tomato mill that you could ever bought. Really, and
- 24:39Speaker 1: we I'll tell you a funny story quick before we're done.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Me and my ex husband used to grow the tomatoes
- 24:45Speaker 1: in our garden and we didn't always have enough. So
- 24:47Speaker 1: you want them getting more from you know whatever, your
- 24:49Speaker 1: other friends or whatever. So we would it would take
- 24:51Speaker 1: a few days, right days, And this is a d
- 24:56Speaker 1: and when you it's like the jaws were gold because
- 24:58Speaker 1: you'd have to you have to put them a pot
- 25:00Speaker 1: to seal the to seal the lins on the Mason
- 25:03Speaker 1: jaws because you can't get.
- 25:04Speaker 3: The air otherwise it's spoils. Its spoil things.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So it's a whole process. So I gave my neighbor
- 25:10Speaker 1: a jaw. When I tell you, he came home from
- 25:13Speaker 1: work and he was like, and I'm I'm making I'm
- 25:16Speaker 1: making dinnerman of making our sauce or whatever. And he's like,
- 25:21Speaker 1: my neighbor wants to say, oh, and tom, thank you
- 25:23Speaker 1: so much for the jar resauce. Your wife gave it
- 25:26Speaker 1: to us. He comes in the door, How do you
- 25:29Speaker 1: give us that jar sauce away? Because literally it takes days,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Like you don't know how much work.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Right that goes behind a.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Job, behind this this jar, this this mason jar of tomatoes.
- 25:41Speaker 1: He literally took the pot with the ladle off the
- 25:44Speaker 1: stove and walked out of the house. And I had
- 25:46Speaker 1: nothing to put on my boss. He drove away with it.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Oh no, I literally drop me and my kids were
- 25:51Speaker 1: sto the laugh and we're like, are you kidding me?
- 25:53Speaker 1: He literally took it at us and drove away, and
- 25:56Speaker 1: we were crying. We were crying. It was so funny.
- 25:58Speaker 1: He was that mad that I gave my name about
- 26:01Speaker 1: jar sauce.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It's a thing that is in the Italian culture. It's
- 26:04Speaker 3: a thing like I went but my grandmother.
- 26:06Speaker 2: And she here, bullet take take a jar sauce.
- 26:09Speaker 1: You know, Okay, if they give it to you, he
- 26:12Speaker 1: would I gave if I took it, forget it. No,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I took it. And he was very angry because he
- 26:18Speaker 1: was the one turning the tomatoes like he was doing,
- 26:21Speaker 1: because it's a big job. So that's funny. But but see,
- 26:24Speaker 1: that's something that that people would like to hear. I
- 26:27Speaker 1: think yes, and you can talk about your recipes and
- 26:31Speaker 1: talk about maybe a little tidbit with your grandma, and
- 26:34Speaker 1: if she taught you how to make something, they would like.
- 26:37Speaker 3: They would like the billion recipes, you know, the noodle cake.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Did you have you make pizza?
- 26:43Speaker 2: No, I've never made it, but my grant she's made it.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's amazing. That's the we make that for EA.
- 26:49Speaker 1: The pizza game. It's with the it's the pizzasta is
- 26:54Speaker 1: like a little and it has it has it has
- 26:59Speaker 1: a super tar.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Like well the sounds familiar.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, with the with the pepercorns.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's what we call me pizza gain.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I don't know if that's uh, it's it's a different yeah.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And then also the macaroni pie. Yes, so that's the
- 27:15Speaker 1: I think that little cake, yeah, the little cake.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So do you hear how many calories are in this that.
- 27:21Speaker 1: You eat a piece this big? There's about six thousand galleries? Right,
- 27:25Speaker 1: so goddamn good. How good is it?
- 27:28Speaker 3: It's like with them when it's like when it gets cold,
- 27:32Speaker 3: looks so disgusting.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Look, we're actually ingesting this, all right, No wonder why
- 27:38Speaker 1: we will have that. But you know what's funny, my
- 27:43Speaker 1: grandparents never had problems with high cholesterol.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Or it's crazy genetics, some genetics.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Well you know what, I think it's because they just
- 27:50Speaker 1: ate three square meals a day. They drank the drink. Yeah,
- 27:53Speaker 1: and they never over ate. They always ate. Just just
- 27:57Speaker 1: that's it. They never ate in between they that that
- 28:00Speaker 1: was one thing about my grandma. But my grandmother and
- 28:02Speaker 1: grandfather they were a little bit more modern, you know.
- 28:06Speaker 1: My girl, my father's mother was the typical Ellis Island
- 28:09Speaker 1: black dress, the bun on her head, like, you know,
- 28:12Speaker 1: didn't speak a word of English. But my grandmother was
- 28:15Speaker 1: a fashion designer. She was very progressive for her. She
- 28:18Speaker 1: worked for Henry Bendal, So yeah, awesome. I think I
- 28:22Speaker 1: kind of emulate her. And it's funny when my mother
- 28:25Speaker 1: was more of a stay at home mom, and you know,
- 28:28Speaker 1: she wanted to be that Italian mother stay at home.
- 28:30Speaker 1: But my grandmother was was out.
- 28:31Speaker 2: She was entrepreneurs.
- 28:32Speaker 1: She was entrepreneur. She had her own she worked, she
- 28:35Speaker 1: had a stores, she had two clothing stores on Fifth Avenue.
- 28:40Speaker 1: You know, she was pretty pretty savvy. So that's probably
- 28:44Speaker 1: why we get it from getting from your mom. Yeah,
- 28:46Speaker 1: I see what my grandmother she was pretty before her time.
- 28:50Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 28:51Speaker 1: So and that's that's Italian women. Oh yeah, cookies, because
- 28:56Speaker 1: we'll beat you up. We'll beat you up with that.
- 28:59Speaker 1: We we'll cook you. We'll cook you with the best.
- 29:02Speaker 2: We'll cook it exactly, and what's tough exactly.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I want you to tell everybody where they can find
- 29:10Speaker 1: you and hopefully well the way out to see you cooking.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Okay, yes, absolutely so. My instagram is p zally zero one.
- 29:18Speaker 3: So it's p s z a l a y zero one.

- 29:41Speaker 1: do you have anything special that's on the rights? And
- 29:43Speaker 1: besides the movie, is there anything else that it's coming out?
- 29:46Speaker 3: So I'm also competing for summer cover Heart of Hollywood Magazine,
- 29:53Speaker 3: So I'm competing for that as well. The contest ends

- 30:03Speaker 1: for the same cover and.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Oh yes, the fab but that was good.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I actually got nominated for that, which I didn't even
- 30:09Speaker 1: It was pretty cool. But yeah, listen, it's awesome. It
- 30:12Speaker 1: was where I want somebody, there's a somebody. I thought,
- 30:15Speaker 1: somebody else besides me deserved it more than I would
- 30:18Speaker 1: even to even push to try to to try to win.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And it's it's fun.
- 30:22Speaker 3: It's like, you know, it's a healthy competition. Women are
- 30:25Speaker 3: helping women, so I think it's a great thing.
- 30:28Speaker 1: And it's good that women some women help women because
- 30:30Speaker 1: some some women do not want to help each other.
