- 0:41Speaker 1: Okay, this is another instance of how old I am.
- 0:46Speaker 1: As if we needed more, but this song reminds me
- 0:50Speaker 1: of Miami Vice. This song was like a soundtry so
- 0:57Speaker 1: often of Miami Vice students. I see Dodd Johnson and
- 1:03Speaker 1: Tubbs cruising and that convertible right over the bridge, and
- 1:08Speaker 1: this song was blasting on the radio. Life in the past.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Blade gotta love that all right. This portion of the
- 1:18Speaker 1: program brought to you by Central Texas sports medicine. Coming up,
- 1:23Speaker 1: we're gonna hear from Bucky. He met with reporters today,
- 1:26Speaker 1: so did Jacari Lane. We've got a high school report.
- 1:32Speaker 1: You need to phone the neighbors for this one. I'm
- 1:34Speaker 1: gonna play a Dale Hansen rant. Dale Hansen, if you
- 1:40Speaker 1: don't know, is a long time anchor sports anchor at
- 1:45Speaker 1: WFAA Channelayton, Dallas. He did Cowboys color for the radio
- 1:50Speaker 1: for years until Jerry Jones wanted him out because he
- 1:57Speaker 1: dared to criticize Jerry. Uh but and we don't talk
- 2:03Speaker 1: about the NFL a lot. But I'm just telling you
- 2:06Speaker 1: when when And Dale has a little podcast that he
- 2:10Speaker 1: does and dialogue with Dale. You can get it on YouTube. Uh,
- 2:17Speaker 1: this was worth it, So we're gonna put We're gonna
- 2:19Speaker 1: play that. Uh. Mallory was going to be here, but
- 2:24Speaker 1: she has laryngitis and that is very difficult for the
- 2:29Speaker 1: radio when you can't talk and you probably couldn't see
- 2:34Speaker 1: her hand gestures. So we're giving her a couple of
- 2:39Speaker 1: days off so she can recover. We'll have a best
- 2:43Speaker 1: of And I'm I'm redoing an interview. I'm replaying an
- 2:48Speaker 1: interview I did with a legendary Texas Monthly crime writer
- 2:54Speaker 1: Skip Hollinsworth his book She Kills. It's a book about
- 3:00Speaker 1: female accused murderers and it's the stories are just wild.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So we're going to redo that one in the second hour.
- 3:15Speaker 1: All in all, a fairly entertaining show. I would say
- 3:20Speaker 1: there is not going to be an undefeated Power Conference
- 3:25Speaker 1: basketball team this year. The Arizona Wildcats succumbed to the
- 3:32Speaker 1: fog last night at Allen field House in Lawrence eighty
- 3:37Speaker 1: two seventy eight. That's without Darren Peterson, their NBA star,
- 3:49Speaker 1: who had the flu. He always has something. I'll be
- 3:54Speaker 1: honest with you, I'm not so sure this team isn't
- 3:57Speaker 1: better without him. I know it's crazy. He's probably going
- 4:00Speaker 1: to be the number one pick. He's wildly talented, but
- 4:05Speaker 1: they can't count on him. And I tell you, Kansas
- 4:12Speaker 1: is just getting better. They knocked off Arizona last night
- 4:17Speaker 1: and this just this stat I still can't believe this.
- 4:22Speaker 1: They put this up during the game. Kansas had never
- 4:27Speaker 1: beaten a number one team at Allen field House. That
- 4:32Speaker 1: just seems crazy to me. Bill self is forty and
- 4:40Speaker 1: zero on Big Mondays at Allen field House. You do
- 4:46Speaker 1: not want to play at Allen field House. If you're
- 4:49Speaker 1: watching that game last night.
- 4:53Speaker 3: There.
- 4:54Speaker 1: First of all, don't talk to me about Cameron. You
- 5:00Speaker 1: pick any building in America you want. There is no
- 5:05Speaker 1: better basketball arena than Allen field House, period period. And
- 5:13Speaker 1: I'm thinking about this last night, and I'm thinking there
- 5:16Speaker 1: might not be a better sports venue period than Allen
- 5:24Speaker 1: field House. They just don't lose there very often. I
- 5:33Speaker 1: think they've won like six or seven straight Big twelve games.
- 5:38Speaker 1: They haven't done that in forever. So this Kansas team announced,
- 5:43Speaker 1: if we didn't know already last night, that they are, Hey,
- 5:48Speaker 1: that's Allen field House. I've been to a couple of
- 5:50Speaker 1: games there and it was just A and M right,
- 5:55Speaker 1: So it wasn't necessarily jumping like it would be against
- 6:00Speaker 1: Kansas State or like the number one team last night,
- 6:08Speaker 1: but it was jumping enough. And that's a team that's
- 6:13Speaker 1: going to be reckoned with. So in the SEC tonight, Vanderbilt,
- 6:22Speaker 1: which has been struggling lately, is at Auburn, and Arkansas
- 6:28Speaker 1: is at lsu per Due and Nebraska a Big Ten matchup.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Husker seventh, Boilermakers thirteenth North Carolina visits Miami BYU is
- 6:43Speaker 1: at Baylor, Houston is at Utah, Duke is at pitt
- 6:51Speaker 1: Iowa State is at TCU, and the Zags are hosting
- 6:56Speaker 1: Washington State tomorrow night. And I'm we're gonna hear from
- 7:00Speaker 1: Bucky here a little bit tomorrow night, Aggie's and Missouri.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's an eight o'clock game on the SEC Network. In
- 7:10Speaker 1: case you missed it, Alabama's Charles Bettioco can't play college
- 7:16Speaker 1: ball anymore. That's from Judge Daniel Pruitt of the Circuit
- 7:22Speaker 1: Court denying a preliminary injunction that would allow Bettioco to
- 7:28Speaker 1: continue to play. He's actually forty seven years old. Now,
- 7:34Speaker 1: he's not really, but he played in the G League.
- 7:38Speaker 1: He played five games for the Tide. He averaged ten
- 7:45Speaker 1: and five, close to five rebounds a game. He played
- 7:49Speaker 1: the Aggies last week, but it ain't playing anymore. There's
- 7:54Speaker 1: some G players and international players that have granted eligibilla,
- 8:01Speaker 1: including James Najai from Wood to Baylor, but he had
- 8:09Speaker 1: not previously played in college or signed an NBA contract.
- 8:14Speaker 1: That's the difference here. What I think they should do,
- 8:18Speaker 1: and Alabama would certainly go to court immediately, is say
- 8:22Speaker 1: that Alabama has to forfeit the five games in which
- 8:25Speaker 1: Bettioco played. That may keep them out of the NCAA
- 8:31Speaker 1: tournament and would certainly discourage any other team even thinking
- 8:36Speaker 1: about doing that. It is a good day today. The
- 8:42Speaker 1: Texas Rangers had their first workout today. In surprise, Arizona
- 8:49Speaker 1: Major League Baseball started today. Those cheating Astros start tomorrow
- 8:55Speaker 1: in West Palm, Okay. Just in case you care, not
- 9:00Speaker 1: know why you would. Justin Verlanders, returning to the Detroit Tigers,
- 9:05Speaker 1: forty two years old, has signed a one year deal
- 9:09Speaker 1: with the place where it all started. So Verlander back
- 9:16Speaker 1: in Detroit at the Winter Games. The biathlon I'm looking
- 9:22Speaker 1: at right now from earlier today. But big news US
- 9:31Speaker 1: women hockey team five. The Canadian hosers nothing. It's the
- 9:39Speaker 1: first time the Canadian women's hockey team has ever been
- 9:44Speaker 1: shut out at the Olympics. They are thirty seven and
- 9:48Speaker 1: four in forty one games at the Olympics, all four
- 9:52Speaker 1: losses to the good old US of A. But its
- 10:00Speaker 1: mixed doubles curling gold medal match today, when the Swedes
- 10:07Speaker 1: came back and won six to five on the eighth
- 10:12Speaker 1: end after the Users had taken the lead in the
- 10:18Speaker 1: seventh very disappointing silver medal. No medal again from Mikayla Schiffrin,
- 10:26Speaker 1: who fell again at the team slalom event. So that's
- 10:35Speaker 1: not good. And you know, Breezy Johnson was really good.
- 10:43Speaker 1: She had given the team the lead before Schiffrin fell.
- 10:46Speaker 1: The most successful World Cup racer of all time one
- 10:51Speaker 1: hundred and eight career wins, seventy one of them in
- 10:56Speaker 1: the slalom. She has gone seven straight Olympic races without
- 11:05Speaker 1: a metal, really hard to do. In her first two
- 11:09Speaker 1: Olympics she has two golds and a silver, but since then, nada, zip, nothing.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And Lindsey Vaughn just said she's got to have a
- 11:27Speaker 1: lot of surgeries to fix what happened, a complex tibbia
- 11:34Speaker 1: fracture that she says will require multiple surgeries. But no regirts,
- 11:42Speaker 1: she said, and her blown out ACL had nothing to
- 11:48Speaker 1: do with her crash whatsoever. Ah, you know, I'm not
- 11:53Speaker 1: sure I believe that. But hey, there you go. All right,
- 11:57Speaker 1: that's all the news that's fit. Right now, we're going
- 12:00Speaker 1: to take a break, we're going to come back. We're
- 12:03Speaker 1: going to hear from Bucky. We've got a high school report.
- 12:10Speaker 1: The Great Dale Hands said you got to listen to
- 12:12Speaker 1: this on the Cowboys at Jakari lay in all this

- 13:42Speaker 7: I keep a close watch on this harder mine. I
- 13:47Speaker 7: keep my eyes wide open all the time.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I keep the ends up for the pilot. Fine, because
- 13:56Speaker 1: you're mind, I can't sure he missed four. I've never
- 14:02Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever seen anybody miss four the
- 14:04Speaker 1: Mayath moud before. Is that the Swede good because they
- 14:09Speaker 1: feed us today at Curly? Okay, I find my Scott
- 14:17Speaker 1: Clinton and is in tomorrow. I'll be back on Thursday.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I will, however, be visiting with Steve Denton tomorrow where
- 14:25Speaker 1: we have moved Steve to Wednesdays this year, So Wednesday
- 14:29Speaker 1: afternoons at four point fifteen, we'll talk to the men's
- 14:32Speaker 1: tennis coach. We'll have our first visit with him tomorrow
- 14:35Speaker 1: on the program. Okay. Earlier this afternoon, Bucky talked to
- 14:42Speaker 1: the media a little about Florida, mostly about Missouri coming
- 14:47Speaker 1: up tomorrow.
- 14:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, obviously very capable team. They're long, they're big,
- 14:54Speaker 8: they have shot makers, dangerous team, could beat anybody. You know,
- 15:02Speaker 8: they've they've they've shown at times that they could get
- 15:04Speaker 8: wins at home and shown at times they can play
- 15:07Speaker 8: well on the road. So be a fight, be a
- 15:09Speaker 8: physical game, you know, we just got to worry about
- 15:13Speaker 8: playing our best basketball. Obviously, usually things work out.
- 15:16Speaker 9: When we do that.
- 15:17Speaker 10: You spend more time talking about your team since Saturday
- 15:22Speaker 10: than your next opponent.
- 15:24Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, we kind of do do a mix
- 15:25Speaker 8: of both, but it's mainly us. I think at the
- 15:27Speaker 8: end of the day we talk about you know, we
- 15:31Speaker 8: played three games last week is Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, and
- 15:36Speaker 8: we played maybe the best game we played all year
- 15:37Speaker 8: at Georgia. We played one of the best games we
- 15:39Speaker 8: played all year at Alabama, even though we didn't win
- 15:42Speaker 8: at so irrelevant how we played. We played great and
- 15:45Speaker 8: put ninety seven almost one at a spot that no
- 15:48Speaker 8: one ever wins at with their whole roster and added
- 15:53Speaker 8: roster right and then we just didn't play a game
- 15:56Speaker 8: verse Florida. But you know, you can be short term
- 15:59Speaker 8: and forget that. A week before we played a great game.
- 16:00Speaker 8: In three days before that, we played an awesome game
- 16:02Speaker 8: as well. Uh games before that was Missisippi State in
- 16:06Speaker 8: South Carolina. We were phenomenal. So we just gotta, hey,
- 16:11Speaker 8: play play like we've been playing for the most part.
- 16:13Speaker 8: You know, iglay, No, I can't. I can't comment on it.
- 16:24Speaker 8: I jokingly say this in every single way. So don't
- 16:28Speaker 8: take one part of what I'm about to say, because
- 16:30Speaker 8: I don't want to know social media wars. A complete
- 16:33Speaker 8: joke was said. I don't want anything to be counted,
- 16:38Speaker 8: uh against ineligible player. I just want his points not
- 16:41Speaker 8: to count. And I think he scored like five or
- 16:45Speaker 8: five or six on us, so we win. That is
- 16:47Speaker 8: a joke, and nobody get out there. We'll have death
- 16:49Speaker 8: threats going on. That's not from It's not for me
- 16:51Speaker 8: to decide, as is a reality of it.
- 16:54Speaker 11: But to that point, when the committee looks at that
- 16:56Speaker 11: game in the future, do you hope that that is
- 17:00Speaker 11: factored in when kind of looking at resumes.
- 17:02Speaker 8: Everything, Well, the the you hope has got to be.
- 17:06Speaker 8: But like I, you know, we're trying to compete and
- 17:08Speaker 8: try to get the best seed for the sec urnam.
- 17:11Speaker 8: We'd love to get the one seat. We'd love to
- 17:12Speaker 8: go try to win the league. Right, we know that
- 17:15Speaker 8: I'm not talking about Alabama. I don't care about Alabama.
- 17:19Speaker 8: You know, how do they make it right for us?
- 17:22Speaker 8: How's it made right for us?
- 17:24Speaker 1: Right?
- 17:24Speaker 8: That's the only okay, I don't you know they could
- 17:26Speaker 8: do that. That's not my deal to well, how's it
- 17:29Speaker 8: made right for us? Because they're not going to be
- 17:32Speaker 8: able to play with their full roster against the other
- 17:34Speaker 8: teams when we had to play against their full roster.
- 17:36Speaker 8: And that's just that's something that you know, you hope,
- 17:39Speaker 8: you know, I don't know how that's made right for
- 17:41Speaker 8: us and for the NSA tournament, and also obviously, you know,
- 17:46Speaker 8: people say for the NCA tournament, well we got to
- 17:49Speaker 8: look at this for the NSAY tournament that you you know,
- 17:51Speaker 8: you ought to play against a team at full strength
- 17:53Speaker 8: in that regard. But let's just throw out the NSA tournament.
- 17:56Speaker 8: Let's talk about the SEC race and the SEC seeding,
- 17:58Speaker 8: and a reg in pursuit of regular season competing is
- 18:01Speaker 8: hot to to try to win the SEC. You certainly,
- 18:07Speaker 8: you know, you certainly, uh, you know that that playing
- 18:12Speaker 8: those guys at full strength there that is and they're
- 18:15Speaker 8: not able to play other teams at full strength. That's
- 18:17Speaker 8: a disadvantage us.
- 18:18Speaker 1: We know that.
- 18:19Speaker 11: So when you look back at the Florida game and
- 18:22Speaker 11: you look at the first half film or whatnot, how
- 18:25Speaker 11: do you did you kind of diagnose what was going
- 18:27Speaker 11: on with the shooting and how to prevent another over
- 18:31Speaker 11: twenty three streak again moving.
- 18:32Speaker 8: Forward, well, we we if we took half court shots,
- 18:35Speaker 8: we're probably gonna make more than one out of twenty seven.
- 18:37Speaker 8: We know that now they played. They played very good
- 18:39Speaker 8: defense in the game. You know, they have a lot
- 18:45Speaker 8: of length, they're good on defense. I think that our
- 18:48Speaker 8: guys were a little too amped in the game, which
- 18:50Speaker 8: which sometimes it takes a game with the great crowd
- 18:53Speaker 8: and all that for your guys for the next time.
- 18:56Speaker 8: They can settle in a little bit more. But you
- 18:59Speaker 8: got to focused on getting the right shots. You know,
- 19:01Speaker 8: early it's not so much the open shots that we missed,
- 19:04Speaker 8: but what about the shots that we got blocked that
- 19:07Speaker 8: we could have dropped it off to somebody. What about
- 19:09Speaker 8: the two on ones that we threw out of bounds,
- 19:11Speaker 8: What about the miss laips that we had. So besides those,
- 19:14Speaker 8: I mean, we missed several layups, had several two on
- 19:16Speaker 8: ones that we didn't convert. And you know, it's an
- 19:19Speaker 8: eleven point game in half and not only we were
- 19:21Speaker 8: missing those shots and they're blocking it and we're gonna
- 19:23Speaker 8: shoot a layup and be soft and just fall down.
- 19:25Speaker 8: They got a five on four on the other way,
- 19:28Speaker 8: so we spotted them. You know, six points there on
- 19:31Speaker 8: shots we should have been able to finish and maybe
- 19:33Speaker 8: we going a halftime with elite. I dang sure know
- 19:37Speaker 8: this the physical out of that game. You know, we
- 19:40Speaker 8: came out there were physical as you can be. That's
- 19:43Speaker 8: not a game where someone would poke their chest out
- 19:46Speaker 8: saying there is one team out physical. The other team
- 19:49Speaker 8: that shows up in rebounding and our guys battled being undersized,
- 19:53Speaker 8: were able to rebound at a very high level in
- 19:55Speaker 8: that game. I mentioned this to everybody. Our guys shouldn't
- 19:59Speaker 8: walk away from that game thinking we didn't play great
- 20:02Speaker 8: defense because for the first twenty five minutes of the game,
- 20:04Speaker 8: or twenty four minutes we did. We got down by
- 20:06Speaker 8: so much that they were gonna get some dunks because
- 20:09Speaker 8: the only way to get back in it trying to
- 20:10Speaker 8: score the ball was to pretty much go to we're
- 20:13Speaker 8: gonna steal it or you're gonna get a dunk mode.
- 20:16Speaker 8: So what as bad as it felt like I said,
- 20:19Speaker 8: but you know, it's a good team.
- 20:22Speaker 12: To your point about you know, feeling maybe a little
- 20:24Speaker 12: too empt up, do you do you change maybe a
- 20:27Speaker 12: little bit of how you you know, go into like
- 20:30Speaker 12: pregame routine at all I mean, I'm sure you guys
- 20:33Speaker 12: are hoping that, you know, playing some other big environments
- 20:36Speaker 12: at home this season as well.
- 20:38Speaker 8: I wouldn't you know, again, you know, I wouldn't change
- 20:40Speaker 8: too much. We've got to remind ourself that the same
- 20:42Speaker 8: routine we've done has been the same routine. That that's
- 20:45Speaker 8: you know, put us in a good position since since
- 20:48Speaker 8: you know and SEC play for sure, right, So I
- 20:53Speaker 8: just stay with it, and you know, if it became
- 20:55Speaker 8: a pattern, then I probably evaluate it.
- 20:58Speaker 13: Does your messaging change at all coming off back to
- 21:00Speaker 13: back losses? And do you use maybe what happened earlier
- 21:04Speaker 13: this season when you'll have back to back losses and
- 21:07Speaker 13: how y'all kind of bounce back and motivations.
- 21:09Speaker 8: Well, I didn't think we played well in our back
- 21:11Speaker 8: to back losses. We played early in the year. We
- 21:15Speaker 8: played Oklahoma State, we were not very good at all
- 21:18Speaker 8: Central Florida. We were actually good for about twenty five
- 21:22Speaker 8: minutes and not good. I think we we we played
- 21:24Speaker 8: really well at Alabama. We just we didn't play well
- 21:26Speaker 8: in the last game. But it wasn't an effort deal,
- 21:28Speaker 8: wasn't a physicality deal. So I don't I don't really
- 21:33Speaker 8: keep up I keep it with how we're playing more
- 21:34Speaker 8: than anything more than winsor losses, you know, So I'd
- 21:38Speaker 8: stayed with what we got and knowing that, like we
- 21:41Speaker 8: have to have the humility as a program to know that,
- 21:46Speaker 8: just like every other team every night, it's not going
- 21:49Speaker 8: to be perfect. I watched North Carolina State play Louisville
- 21:55Speaker 8: last night in North Constinate's been a great defensive team
- 21:58Speaker 8: and insay tournament team and got beat by about forty
- 22:01Speaker 8: and gave up hundred twenty points. Like you'll look up
- 22:05Speaker 8: and Alabama's a very good team and they lost, got
- 22:08Speaker 8: got pounded about thirty. You got Missouri Beach Florida, you
- 22:11Speaker 8: got Bandy's a great team, and Oklahoma goes in there
- 22:14Speaker 8: and gets them. It's just the way that it is.
- 22:18Speaker 8: You got to understand that, like, well, how could this
- 22:21Speaker 8: happen to us where we can't make a shot. That's
- 22:23Speaker 8: what it is. We got to have the humility to
- 22:25Speaker 8: understand that and know that the SEC the SEC race, man,
- 22:30Speaker 8: it's a gauntlet, and you gotta have perseverance to keep
- 22:33Speaker 8: going and get to the next game.
- 22:36Speaker 12: When when you look at eligibility stuff, just going back
- 22:39Speaker 12: to that real quick, how much of a topic of
- 22:41Speaker 12: discussion is Adam on other coaches that you maybe talk
- 22:44Speaker 12: with right now and just are there any things that
- 22:47Speaker 12: you guys are talking about trying to fix or change
- 22:51Speaker 12: as it's currently staying.
- 22:52Speaker 8: With eligibility stuff, there'll be topics in the off season.
- 22:57Speaker 8: I think the biggest deal with eligibility when it gets
- 23:00Speaker 8: down to so all this stuff is these ideas that
- 23:05Speaker 8: people have they're to take up in the off season, right,
- 23:11Speaker 8: I mean, that's where you take it up. It is
- 23:13Speaker 8: like if we think, for example, you know, if if
- 23:17Speaker 8: we think that you know, and you're asking the question
- 23:20Speaker 8: about discussing it or implementing it. I mean, if we think,
- 23:23Speaker 8: because we can make a lot of threes from thirty feet,
- 23:28Speaker 8: and yet they're giving people three points because they can
- 23:31Speaker 8: make three pointers at twenty three feet, why can't they
- 23:34Speaker 8: be four pointers at thirty feet. We'll use it as
- 23:36Speaker 8: something after the season we talk about, you know, we
- 23:39Speaker 8: we we're not going to go in the middle of
- 23:40Speaker 8: the season and say, well, we feel that they're making
- 23:43Speaker 8: twenty three footers, so let's make these worth four points
- 23:47Speaker 8: all of a sudden in the middle of the season.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:50Speaker 8: It's just that's not how it works. You go to
- 23:52Speaker 8: the end of the season and we discuss that and
- 23:55Speaker 8: then everybody kind of votes on it, and then we
- 23:56Speaker 8: go there, I guess kind of.
- 23:58Speaker 12: Though, is it tough when some of the leads through
- 24:01Speaker 12: into the season, throughout the middle of the season, Well.
- 24:04Speaker 8: Is anybody you gotta have clarity on on you know,
- 24:10Speaker 8: whether it's rules, whether it too you can recruit. There
- 24:13Speaker 8: has to be clarity, you know, like the Europeans for example, right,
- 24:19Speaker 8: everybody knew the Europeans were going to be eligible to
- 24:21Speaker 8: come over here.
- 24:22Speaker 11: We knew that.
- 24:22Speaker 8: In the recruiting cycle, every coach knew that. Everybody knew that,
- 24:26Speaker 8: So therefore everybody got to recruit the Europeans, right, So
- 24:30Speaker 8: like that was to me very fair. We all knew it.
- 24:34Speaker 8: So that's what's got to happen, you know, with with
- 24:36Speaker 8: any rule change. And I'm not talking I'm not talking
- 24:39Speaker 8: about any specific team. I don't want you know, I
- 24:41Speaker 8: don't even crying out there what I'm saying talking about
- 24:43Speaker 8: in general, Right, there's got to be clarity with what
- 24:47Speaker 8: you do where everybody has the ability to be playing
- 24:51Speaker 8: on a level playing field, right, And that usually is
- 24:55Speaker 8: done in the off season. So everybody's clarity going into
- 24:57Speaker 8: the next season.
- 25:00Speaker 10: Who played professional or what's the difference you know, while
- 25:04Speaker 10: they're eligibles to Yeah, because well, first off, it's it's
- 25:10Speaker 10: the rules are clear about the NBA draft, right, So
- 25:13Speaker 10: I'm not saying and then the the nature of the
- 25:16Speaker 10: European system is.
- 25:17Speaker 8: Totally different than here. There's no high schools. They they
- 25:19Speaker 8: come up in the farm system, in a pro style
- 25:22Speaker 8: farm system right there, they play for that club coming
- 25:25Speaker 8: all the way up, so they're essentially a sin as
- 25:27Speaker 8: they start high school, they're kind of a pro in
- 25:29Speaker 8: that regard, right, And that's and that's why. Now if
- 25:32Speaker 8: someone could argue, well that and I'm not disagreeing or
- 25:35Speaker 8: agreeing that, hey, well these people are eligible, why can't
- 25:39Speaker 8: we do this for these players or this for their players?
- 25:42Speaker 8: They're you know, well, okay, that's something to talk about
- 25:47Speaker 8: and then after the season we should talk about it.
- 25:49Speaker 14: You know.
- 25:54Speaker 11: Was there any conversation with the league offs or anything
- 25:58Speaker 11: about what happened after the game or is.
- 25:59Speaker 8: That prety much just uh, I think there's so there's
- 26:05Speaker 8: you know, just a blanket deal that they're trying that
- 26:07Speaker 8: people try to get into it. I didn't see much
- 26:09Speaker 8: of it, you know, like people ask me about it. Great,
- 26:12Speaker 8: I'm really glad when we have teams that are that
- 26:15Speaker 8: are you know or at one national championships, in the
- 26:19Speaker 8: first place in the league that if they if they
- 26:21Speaker 8: get a win, they're so freaking happy. Like that makes
- 26:25Speaker 8: that that that that means something like it's like they
- 26:28Speaker 8: if people got it, you know, if it's like, man,
- 26:30Speaker 8: we gotta be a lot of talking a lot John.
- 26:32Speaker 8: That meant so much because they value that we're pretty good, right,
- 26:37Speaker 8: So like the more that goes on, the more I'm like, good,
- 26:42Speaker 8: we're getting there. That means something to them, you know.
- 26:46Speaker 8: So I like that personally, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:49Speaker 8: And but but you know, you know, we'll we'll we'll
- 26:54Speaker 8: be good, be good.
- 26:57Speaker 1: So we did talk about this yesterday with the writers.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Is like the coaches doing the alligator chomp after the
- 27:05Speaker 1: game to the crowd, and Bucky's like, hey, I'm I'm
- 27:12Speaker 1: kind of honored by that because that means it was
- 27:16Speaker 1: a big win for them. It was a big win
- 27:18Speaker 1: for them. They're playing for first place in the league.
- 27:21Speaker 1: They're coming here and the place is packed against a
- 27:24Speaker 1: team that's been playing really well. So yeah, it was
- 27:28Speaker 1: a big win for Florida, and I like how he
- 27:35Speaker 1: spends it. It's like, hey, it'd be nice if everybody
- 27:39Speaker 1: celebrates like that. When if they beat us, that means
- 27:43Speaker 1: that we're pretty good. That means that they're excited to
- 27:47Speaker 1: get a win. And as we said, the second half
- 27:51Speaker 1: of the season, A and M's not going to be
- 27:53Speaker 1: hiding from anybody. Everybody is going to be ready to
- 27:58Speaker 1: play the Aggies because they know how good they are,
- 28:01Speaker 1: they know their record. They've watched them with the wins
- 28:05Speaker 1: that they've had, they've watched them with the losses that
- 28:08Speaker 1: they've had, and they're going, yeah, we better be on
- 28:10Speaker 1: our game. We'll lose by thirty. We'll hear from Jakari
- 28:17Speaker 1: Lane coming up here in just a little bit. And
- 28:20Speaker 1: this Missouri team, and Bucky didn't say the opposite that
- 28:24Speaker 1: he said they can't beat anybody, then that's true. My
- 28:28Speaker 1: thing is they can also lose to anybody. They're really inconsistent.
- 28:33Speaker 1: But like a lot of teams that shoot threes, and
- 28:36Speaker 1: we saw this Saturday, you're not making threes and you
- 28:41Speaker 1: live with the three. That's a problem. Missouri lives with
- 28:45Speaker 1: the three. In my mind more than A and M
- 28:48Speaker 1: does because they don't get as many looks at the
- 28:52Speaker 1: rim as A and M does. They don't run good
- 28:55Speaker 1: enough offense to get great looks at the rim. They
- 29:00Speaker 1: we've got four guards, and if two of those guards
- 29:03Speaker 1: are on, three of those guards are on hitting threes.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I mean they take out anybody. They've got talent. This
- 29:11Speaker 1: isn't this isn't South Carolina coming to town tomorrow. Let's
- 29:16Speaker 1: put it that way. Okay, this is a team beat
- 29:20Speaker 1: anybody in the lake. They're very athletic. I'll be anxious
- 29:25Speaker 1: to see what kind of crowd shows up tomorrow night.
- 29:29Speaker 1: After the packed house on Saturday, the disappointing loss, I'll
- 29:34Speaker 1: be interested to see how many students show up as
- 29:38Speaker 1: well tomorrow night. Galleria has been part of our community
- 29:45Speaker 1: since nineteen ninety three. They have been a big part
- 29:50Speaker 1: of the community because they've won every kind of best
- 29:53Speaker 1: of award you can win when it comes to spas,
- 29:58Speaker 1: because everyone knows they are the first name when you
- 30:01Speaker 1: think of Spas, when you think of Clash, you think
- 30:05Speaker 1: of Galeria. Okay, guys, here's the deal. I'm only have
- 30:10Speaker 1: like one other opportunity to remind you Valentine's Day is Saturday.
- 30:16Speaker 1: If you want a really good Valentine's gift and you
- 30:19Speaker 1: don't know what you want, then you need to go
- 30:23Speaker 1: to Galleria and get a gift certificate. You need to
- 30:28Speaker 1: go get yourself a gift certificate at Galleria and they'll
- 30:32Speaker 1: put it in this nice little gift bag. They'll tie
- 30:35Speaker 1: a nice little ribbon on it. It'll make it look
- 30:37Speaker 1: like that you have gone to a lot of trouble
- 30:40Speaker 1: for this, and I'm telling you it will be well received.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Trust me when I tell you you can go to
- 30:48Speaker 1: the Rock Prairie location across from Scott and White, or
- 30:51Speaker 1: to the Century Square location. But go get the gift
- 30:57Speaker 1: certificate for Valentine's Day and go online at Galleria, spa
- 31:02Speaker 1: salon dot com.
- 31:05Speaker 15: You know, every time we do one of the CNJ
- 31:07Speaker 15: barbecue commercials, they tell us to come up with something clever,
- 31:10Speaker 15: but honestly, I never knew what to say.
- 31:12Speaker 16: How about we're CEINGJ barbecue. We make barbecue. It's good.
- 31:16Speaker 16: People like it. That's why we've been here smoking meats
- 31:19Speaker 16: and filling belly since the eighties.
- 31:21Speaker 15: Well, I guess that sums it up.
- 31:22Speaker 2: So if you're hungry, come see us.
- 31:24Speaker 16: If you need more convincing. Well, maybe you just don't
- 31:27Speaker 16: like happiness.
- 31:28Speaker 15: Either way, we'll be here smoking meat like we always do,
- 31:31Speaker 15: serving up happiness on a tray.
- 31:33Speaker 16: CNJ Barbecue.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Let's see it, j'ron from Bomberham.
- 31:37Speaker 14: Previously from Paul Faing Bomb Show Old School, Paul, I
- 31:41Speaker 14: want to ask you a question.
- 31:42Speaker 17: Do you ever take Tom for you?
- 31:44Speaker 16: Do self?
- 31:44Speaker 15: All me?
- 31:45Speaker 14: Bay, Paul.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I don't want to sell on either two self serving
- 31:47Speaker 1: or disserving, but I cannot.
- 31:49Speaker 9: Remember the last time I had a me day.
- 31:51Speaker 16: You need to do that, bro.
- 31:52Speaker 3: You need to take Tom for yourself, enjoy yourself for
- 31:55Speaker 3: you you brother.
- 31:57Speaker 18: It's the Paul Fine Bomb Show powered by Polaris Fun
- 32:00Speaker 18: Center two to four Weekday's homer Zone.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I've got a good one.
- 32:19Speaker 19: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 32:22Speaker 19: today we're jumping out to the Player's Fun Center phone
- 32:24Speaker 19: line to visit with the head coach of the A
- 32:26Speaker 19: and M Consolidated softball team, Miss Heather Slayton, coach, thanks
- 32:30Speaker 19: for joining.
- 32:31Speaker 20: Me today, Hi Caleb, thanks for having me on today.
- 32:34Speaker 19: Absolutely, this is my favorite time of year, and you know,
- 32:37Speaker 19: getting the softball and baseball seasons going. Those are my
- 32:41Speaker 19: favorite sports to watch, So I'm really excited to get
- 32:43Speaker 19: to talk to all of you softball and baseball coaches
- 32:47Speaker 19: this season coming up. So last year, your Lady Tigers
- 32:51Speaker 19: twelve and nine on the year, made the playoffs, did
- 32:54Speaker 19: have an early exit unfortunately. So one of the biggest
- 32:58Speaker 19: challenges in high school sports, as you know, the roster
- 33:02Speaker 19: changes every year. So what are your thoughts on your
- 33:05Speaker 19: team this year?
- 33:07Speaker 17: Yeah, you're so right, Like every year, we have to
- 33:11Speaker 17: kind of work that puzzle together. You know, you want
- 33:13Speaker 17: to be a program that stays relevant and has a legacy.
- 33:17Speaker 3: To pass on.
- 33:18Speaker 17: But the the truth just about you know, high school
- 33:21Speaker 17: sports and high school students is sometimes they decide to
- 33:25Speaker 17: move on from things, or sometimes they decided.
- 33:27Speaker 20: That, you know, they need a year off and injuries
- 33:30Speaker 20: and things like that.
- 33:31Speaker 17: So what I'll say about our group this year is
- 33:33Speaker 17: we're really excited about the upperclassmen. We have four seniors
- 33:37Speaker 17: that have been with us kind of from the jump,
- 33:38Speaker 17: and so it's gonna be fun to watch them play
- 33:41Speaker 17: out there, you know, senior year.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Three of those four are committed, and.
- 33:45Speaker 17: Then we are really excited about the underclassmen that are
- 33:48Speaker 17: coming as well. We've got, you know, a handful of
- 33:51Speaker 17: freshmen that are going to end up helping us on
- 33:53Speaker 17: varsity this year.
- 33:55Speaker 3: They're they're going to skip that whole jv.
- 33:58Speaker 17: You know, kind of tears, and they're just gonna have
- 34:01Speaker 17: to jump up and really catch up to the speed
- 34:03Speaker 17: of the game.
- 34:03Speaker 3: So we're excited.
- 34:05Speaker 17: By no means what I say that our team is
- 34:07Speaker 17: you know, quote unquote stacked, but we're excited to see
- 34:10Speaker 17: what these young kids can do.
- 34:11Speaker 3: And it's a fun group to be around.
- 34:14Speaker 19: And you mentioned three of your four seniors are committed.
- 34:18Speaker 19: What is the coach's role in today's world of you know,
- 34:22Speaker 19: college athletics and recruiting. What does what does your role
- 34:24Speaker 19: look like when throughout those those players' careers they're trying
- 34:29Speaker 19: to get recruited by colleges.
- 34:31Speaker 3: You know, it's so different for each sport.
- 34:35Speaker 17: The parents really deserve a lot of credit, and then
- 34:40Speaker 17: these kids, of course deserve a lot of credit because
- 34:43Speaker 17: what they're doing.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Really all summer.
- 34:47Speaker 17: Long is going to exposures and getting seen by college coaches.
- 34:50Speaker 17: Hopefully it makes sense to everybody out there listening that
- 34:53Speaker 17: softball season for high school is the same as softball
- 34:57Speaker 17: season for college so college coaches aren't doing a whole
- 34:59Speaker 17: lot of recruit rooting from our field, you know, they're
- 35:03Speaker 17: not coming on campus in that role. College coaches certainly
- 35:07Speaker 17: do reach out to me about kids they're interested in,
- 35:10Speaker 17: and they asked me, you know, hey, is this a
- 35:11Speaker 17: kid of good character?
- 35:13Speaker 20: Is this a kid that I would want to have?
- 35:14Speaker 20: You know, what can you tell me about their parents?
- 35:16Speaker 3: You know, all of those things. But we really do
- 35:21Speaker 3: have more of a supporting role in that.
- 35:23Speaker 17: And then you know, I take on a lot of
- 35:25Speaker 17: responsibility for signing day for them because I want it
- 35:28Speaker 17: to be special. We only get one shot at that.
- 35:31Speaker 17: I want it to be special. I want it to
- 35:32Speaker 17: be something that they're proud of and something that they're
- 35:35Speaker 17: excited about, you know, just kind of bragging on our
- 35:39Speaker 17: kids and all the great things that they're doing. So
- 35:40Speaker 17: this past signing day that we had in November, we
- 35:44Speaker 17: had the largest class sign across the board. We had
- 35:48Speaker 17: athletes from not only softball and baseball, but we had volleyball,
- 35:53Speaker 17: we had soccer, we had swim we even had gymnastics
- 35:57Speaker 17: represented there.
- 35:58Speaker 20: And so it was just such an exciting thing for
- 36:00Speaker 20: me to be a part of. As far as that
- 36:02Speaker 20: goes all right.
- 36:03Speaker 19: Well, moving on to this season specifically started out the
- 36:08Speaker 19: year with a six to three win over Harker Heights
- 36:10Speaker 19: at home last Tuesday. So how would you evaluate performance
- 36:14Speaker 19: from that game? What were some of your takeaways?
- 36:16Speaker 17: You know, we try to schedule all different times for
- 36:22Speaker 17: our scrimmages and all different you know, types of schools
- 36:27Speaker 17: that we're going to compete against.
- 36:29Speaker 3: So Harker Heights is a six A you.
- 36:31Speaker 17: Know, from the Colleen area, so they're not a school
- 36:33Speaker 17: that we typically see, but we try to schedule them,
- 36:35Speaker 17: and we wanted to show off our new field as well,
- 36:39Speaker 17: and just you know, some takeaways.
- 36:40Speaker 20: From that is like we don't turn the scoreboard on
- 36:42Speaker 20: during scrimmages.
- 36:43Speaker 17: It's a practice where we're both getting better, you know,
- 36:47Speaker 17: both sides are working on some things, and we're able
- 36:49Speaker 17: to to do some free substitutions and see some kids
- 36:52Speaker 17: in roles that they might not normally get to take on.
- 36:55Speaker 3: But overall, real happy with our performance.
- 37:00Speaker 17: It's at the plate, I think offensively, you know, this
- 37:02Speaker 17: group is a hard working group and so you know,
- 37:06Speaker 17: hopefully we'll see that as this season progresses and we
- 37:09Speaker 17: just keep getting better and better with our offensive prowess.
- 37:13Speaker 19: So is this game against Eton, is that going to
- 37:15Speaker 19: be a scrimmage as well? Or is that is that
- 37:17Speaker 19: are y'all treating that as a game?
- 37:18Speaker 3: Nope, that's a game.
- 37:19Speaker 17: So as far as softball goes in the state of Texas,
- 37:23Speaker 17: Uil says, we start real games this week and so
- 37:27Speaker 17: you'll see some teams who are scheduled to play in tournaments,
- 37:30Speaker 17: some teams who just schedule you know what we call
- 37:32Speaker 17: friendly against each other.
- 37:34Speaker 3: But these are real games.
- 37:35Speaker 17: So on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we'll host at our
- 37:40Speaker 17: field and take part in one of the biggest tournaments
- 37:43Speaker 17: in Texas. It's the NFCA Leadoff Classic that we host
- 37:49Speaker 17: here in Texas. So we'll have ten locations with over
- 37:52Speaker 17: one hundred and fifteen teams that are competing, and each
- 37:56Speaker 17: high school that's involved will be around robin location with
- 38:00Speaker 17: our times set just for travel purposes. So Kansas, we'll
- 38:04Speaker 17: play at nine am and eleven am all three days
- 38:08Speaker 17: we're here, so we'll be the first first teams to
- 38:11Speaker 17: show up, but we'll have, you know, multiple games on
- 38:15Speaker 17: our field.
- 38:16Speaker 20: As far as the tournament goes this weekend.
- 38:19Speaker 19: The district this year, you know, it's I think it's
- 38:22Speaker 19: been pretty similar throughout the last few realignments. But College
- 38:26Speaker 19: Station Brenham Montgomery Rudder, what are your thoughts on your
- 38:30Speaker 19: district monk mates this year.
- 38:32Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean, we think we have the toughest district
- 38:34Speaker 17: in five A, you know, seventeen to five A has
- 38:37Speaker 17: you know, multiple state contenders, and so there's not a
- 38:45Speaker 17: game that you can just take lightly. Every single school
- 38:49Speaker 17: in our district can compete, and we just have to
- 38:53Speaker 17: come out, you know, and take it one game at
- 38:55Speaker 17: a time and not be overly you know, overly district
- 39:00Speaker 17: by all the outside noise and all the outside things,
- 39:02Speaker 17: and really kind of focus where we're.
- 39:05Speaker 3: At and where our feet are and play that game.
- 39:08Speaker 19: All right, coach, last question for you here, what are
- 39:10Speaker 19: some of your goals for this season? What does a
- 39:13Speaker 19: successful season look like in twenty twenty six for you?
- 39:16Speaker 17: Well, I think everybody wants to talk it up to wins,
- 39:18Speaker 17: you know, that's that's the easiest thing for them to say.
- 39:21Speaker 17: But I think what we're looking at is the growth
- 39:23Speaker 17: of our young players, because they are going to have
- 39:26Speaker 17: some big shoes to fill at the end of this season.
- 39:30Speaker 17: You know, our freshman sophomores and juniors coming up are
- 39:32Speaker 17: really going to have to take some ownership in that.
- 39:36Speaker 17: On a personal note, I've got two hundred and fourteen
- 39:40Speaker 17: wins on my career, so I'm looking to hit another
- 39:43Speaker 17: milestone here soon. So I'm excited about the girls helping
- 39:47Speaker 17: me get there. Maybe we'll have a pizza party or
- 39:50Speaker 17: something after that first one. But just looking at this group,
- 39:54Speaker 17: we're looking for a lot of growth.
- 39:57Speaker 20: And understanding that you know, it is what it is.
- 39:59Speaker 17: Some of these young kids are going to have to
- 40:01Speaker 17: catch up to the speed of the game and it's
- 40:03Speaker 17: not always about what the scoreboard says at.
- 40:05Speaker 20: The end of the game.
- 40:06Speaker 19: All right, coach, Well, I appreciate your time today and
- 40:08Speaker 19: I wish you luck throughout this season.

- 43:55Speaker 1: and we'll be in tomorrow. I'll be visiting with Steve Ditton,
- 43:59Speaker 1: our first Steve Denton show of the year Tomorrow afternoon
- 44:05Speaker 1: Scott will carrys in. I'll be back on Thursday. I
- 44:08Speaker 1: mentioned earlier. I saw this on the social media from
- 44:14Speaker 1: a friend and Dale Hanson does a little podcast dialogue
- 44:21Speaker 1: with Dale Hanson. You can get it on YouTube, and
- 44:25Speaker 1: Dale had some thoughts in the Dallas Cowboys, as he
- 44:27Speaker 1: usually does, and we don't talk a lot about the Cowboys,
- 44:31Speaker 1: but I had to let you listen to this. This
- 44:35Speaker 1: is Dale Hanson on the Dallas Cowboys.
- 44:41Speaker 14: This has proven to be a little bit harder to
- 44:43Speaker 14: write than I thought it would be. Not that I
- 44:45Speaker 14: don't have something to say about another lousy Cowboys season,
- 44:48Speaker 14: but that I've been saying it for thirty years now.
- 44:51Speaker 14: This isn't about Super Bowls anymore. Thirty years have come
- 44:54Speaker 14: and gone with the Cowboys not even playing at a
- 44:56Speaker 14: conference championship game, the only team in the NFC that has,
- 45:00Speaker 14: and one of only four of the thirty two NFL
- 45:03Speaker 14: teams that haven't made it to at least the NFL's
- 45:06Speaker 14: Final four since nineteen ninety six. Houston, Cleveland, Miami, and
- 45:12Speaker 14: your Dallas Cowboys. A Cowboys team valued at around thirteen
- 45:16Speaker 14: billion dollars, the highest value team in the NFL for
- 45:18Speaker 14: the nineteen consecutive year, has a streak of thirty years
- 45:22Speaker 14: on the field of play, matched only by Houston, Cleveland
- 45:26Speaker 14: and Miami. If you want to make money, Jerry Jones
- 45:29Speaker 14: is your guy. You want to win football games. You
- 45:32Speaker 14: need another guy. It's a lousy football organization and I
- 45:36Speaker 14: blame him for that. Jerry Jones has had nine coaches
- 45:39Speaker 14: since he bought the team in eighty nine. Only two
- 45:41Speaker 14: of the nine wanted by anybody else, and he ran
- 45:44Speaker 14: those two off because, as he has said, when Jimmy
- 45:47Speaker 14: Johnson and Bill Parcells were coaching, it wasn't fun for him.
- 45:51Speaker 14: Jones has also said he would write any check and
- 45:54Speaker 14: do almost anything to win another Super Bowl, anything except
- 45:58Speaker 14: hire a new general manager. Of course, I said this
- 46:02Speaker 14: to Jones in a live TV interview years ago. Can
- 46:05Speaker 14: you name any team in any sport that would hire
- 46:08Speaker 14: you to be their general manager? He said he could.
- 46:11Speaker 14: I said I'll wait, and he never did because he can't.
- 46:15Speaker 14: The man who insists on being the general manager of
- 46:17Speaker 14: one of the most iconic teams in all of sports
- 46:20Speaker 14: could never get another GM job anywhere on the planet,
- 46:24Speaker 14: and that simple fact should drive every Cowboys fan absolutely nuts.
- 46:29Speaker 14: He pays too much for free agents who can't play,
- 46:32Speaker 14: wanted to draft Johnny Manziel to play quarterback and that
- 46:35Speaker 14: would have worked out so well. And when he found
- 46:37Speaker 14: Dak Prescott to replace Tony Romo, he made him the
- 46:40Speaker 14: highest paid player in the game, Dak Prescott, a quarterback
- 46:45Speaker 14: I like and have always defended when others didn't, but
- 46:49Speaker 14: the league's highest paid player, as the great Jimmy Johnson
- 46:53Speaker 14: would say, please, this is how the Cowboys general manager
- 46:58Speaker 14: has made a mess of this. Once great French, the
- 47:00Speaker 14: only way you could play defense in this game anymore
- 47:03Speaker 14: is with the pass rush, and Jones traded away one
- 47:06Speaker 14: of the very best to ever do it. After that
- 47:08Speaker 14: Michah Parsons trade, Jones and his allies were saying Parsons
- 47:12Speaker 14: had to go because he couldn't stop the run. He
- 47:14Speaker 14: disappears in a big game, not a leader and says
- 47:18Speaker 14: we weren't winning super bowls with Micah Parsons anyway. Well,
- 47:21Speaker 14: if that's the standard, he needs to trade everybody on
- 47:24Speaker 14: that football team, a fifty three man roster, and only
- 47:28Speaker 14: eight of the fifty three or even alive when the
- 47:31Speaker 14: Cowboys won a Super Bowl. But here's the question I
- 47:34Speaker 14: have about Parsons that I haven't heard or seen anyone ask.
- 47:37Speaker 14: And if you did and I missed it, I apologize
- 47:39Speaker 14: for that. But Jones has tried to defend the Parsons trade,
- 47:44Speaker 14: saying it made financial sense to get more players and
- 47:47Speaker 14: draft picks instead of paying one of the league's premier
- 47:51Speaker 14: pass rushers. If that's true. If that's really true, then
- 47:55Speaker 14: why did Jones offer him forty million a year to stay.
- 47:59Speaker 14: Jones was willing to pay forty million a year for
- 48:03Speaker 14: a player who can't stop the run, disappears in a
- 48:06Speaker 14: big game, not a leader, and couldn't win a Super
- 48:09Speaker 14: Bowl anyway. The ignorance of that football argument is staggering
- 48:14Speaker 14: to me. And while Jones wasn't willing to pay the
- 48:16Speaker 14: higher price for Parsons, the Cowboys fans have been paying
- 48:19Speaker 14: the price of four playoff wins in thirty years. Jones
- 48:24Speaker 14: will argue, and he has, that you can't pay everybody
- 48:27Speaker 14: because of the NFL salary cap. But I think that
- 48:30Speaker 14: cap is like our government's national debt. It's only a
- 48:33Speaker 14: problem when you want it to be money for the poor.
- 48:37Speaker 14: Our money is tight. Blow up a vote at the
- 48:40Speaker 14: Caribbean or our military in the streets. Oh, we have
- 48:43Speaker 14: more than enough money. Jones didn't have the money from
- 48:47Speaker 14: Michaeh Parsons, and we saw what that did to the
- 48:49Speaker 14: Cowboys defense. But Prescott and Tony Romo before him the
- 48:53Speaker 14: money flows like Johnny Walker blue in the owner's suite.
- 48:57Speaker 14: The Cowboys change their quarterbacks and co players we used
- 49:01Speaker 14: to cheer at the Super Bowl or getting close to
- 49:03Speaker 14: Social Security and Medicare now, but the general manager never changes.
- 49:08Speaker 14: There's an old saying that goes back almost six hundred years.
- 49:11Speaker 14: A fool and his money are soon parted. But like
- 49:14Speaker 14: a lot of old things, it's just not true. Jones
- 49:17Speaker 14: has his money and he's a fool, an absolute football fool.
- 49:23Speaker 14: I'm disgusted by thirty years. Maybe next year because I
- 49:27Speaker 14: don't have that many next years left. But I can
- 49:30Speaker 14: always tell my thirty year old granddaughter and her husband
- 49:34Speaker 14: I was there and have seen the Cowboys win super Bowls,
- 49:37Speaker 14: although I know you haven't because it was thirty years ago.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Okay, So I hope you like that. Dale is a
- 49:48Speaker 1: terrific writer. He's terrific doing editorials. He did in his
- 49:53Speaker 1: entire career. He always has an opinion on everything, like
- 49:58Speaker 1: it or not. He doesn't really care. But I thought
- 50:04Speaker 1: that was worth a listen. And I know you're gonna
- 50:08Speaker 1: find this hard to believe, but he and Jerry aren't
- 50:11Speaker 1: the best of Frid's. In fact, he tells that story
- 50:15Speaker 1: on air live. They were on air when he asked, Jerry,
- 50:17Speaker 1: is there any other professional sports team in the world
- 50:21Speaker 1: that would hire you as general manager? And Jerry apparently
- 50:27Speaker 1: kept this cool kind of during the interview, but afterward
- 50:32Speaker 1: his people called Dale to let them know they were
- 50:35Speaker 1: not happy about that question. It's a great question, a
- 50:40Speaker 1: fair question, all right. Now for something completely different tomorrow
- 50:46Speaker 1: evening eight o'clock, Aggie's Missouri. Missouri is jackal and Hyde.
- 50:53Speaker 1: They shoot a lot of threes, they play a lot
- 50:55Speaker 1: of guards, they can light it up. They're better at
- 51:01Speaker 1: home than they are on the road. But dangerous. Nonetheless,
- 51:04Speaker 1: you don't know what team you're getting. You better be
- 51:07Speaker 1: ready for the best one or you'll get beat. That's
- 51:11Speaker 1: tomorrow night. Here is Jakari laid for from earlier this afternoon.
- 51:18Speaker 12: Well, your courage is how do you feel like he's
- 51:20Speaker 12: lost a couple of days?
- 51:21Speaker 8: Have been a few guys come last week.
- 51:24Speaker 24: It's definitely been a test for our team. But you know,
- 51:27Speaker 24: like every team in college basketball will go through adversity.
- 51:29Speaker 24: It's about the toughest team's gonna stay together, grind together,
- 51:32Speaker 24: you know, throughout the adversity and just you know, overcoming
- 51:35Speaker 24: and that's.
- 51:35Speaker 9: What we're doing right now. What does it take to
- 51:38Speaker 9: overcome everybody?
- 51:40Speaker 24: We gonna need everybody from from the first man on
- 51:43Speaker 24: the roster the last man on the roster, and most importantly,
- 51:46Speaker 24: just keep putting confidence in each other on the court.
- 51:48Speaker 9: You know, it's starting.
- 51:48Speaker 24: Practice, just having great practices back to back, just getting
- 51:51Speaker 24: ready for the next game.
- 51:53Speaker 11: Y'all been able to kind of diagnose why the shooting
- 51:57Speaker 11: struggles happened so much and how to make sure that
- 52:00Speaker 11: an athlete and moving forward.
- 52:01Speaker 9: Uh, I mean, it's definitely gonna happen again. It's a
- 52:04Speaker 9: part of basketball.
- 52:04Speaker 24: You know, we're not gonna come out shooting good every game.
- 52:07Speaker 24: And like I said, the most important part is just
- 52:10Speaker 24: you know, stay uh stay stay to the grind, stay connected,
- 52:13Speaker 24: and just you know, keep putting in the work.
- 52:17Speaker 12: You guys got a chance to really scouting this very much,
- 52:19Speaker 12: and if so, just to be noticed about their team.
- 52:23Speaker 24: Definitely definitely a long athletic team. You know, the guys
- 52:28Speaker 24: very athletic in the passing the lanes a lot. So
- 52:30Speaker 24: we're just gonna have to keep doing what we do
- 52:32Speaker 24: and play our game and drag them into our game.
- 52:36Speaker 12: What have you seen from especially Mark and Sam Pop
- 52:39Speaker 12: his last few games.
- 52:41Speaker 24: And just their ability to score particularly just just confidence
- 52:46Speaker 24: showing the showing that they they're one of the best
- 52:49Speaker 24: players in this uh in this conference. And I think
- 52:51Speaker 24: just them just playing off each other, just giving each
- 52:53Speaker 24: other confidence. That's that's helping our team alife. They can
- 52:56Speaker 24: keep doing that along the way, and so so the
- 52:58Speaker 24: other guys too, would be will be good.
- 53:01Speaker 8: You know what to kind of think about Missouri when
- 53:04Speaker 8: you see a team that goes out and beats Kentucky
- 53:05Speaker 8: and Beach Florida than loss l SU miss they're kind
- 53:09Speaker 8: of like all of them.
- 53:10Speaker 9: Yeah, this league, this league is crazy this year. You know,
- 53:12Speaker 9: anybody can be anybody.
- 53:13Speaker 24: And that's why we got to come out and just
- 53:15Speaker 24: you know, play our game, don't take don't take no
- 53:17Speaker 24: game for granted. You know, come out and do do
- 53:20Speaker 24: exactly what the coach is given us. And like the
- 53:21Speaker 24: Sky report, so just being able to come out and
- 53:24Speaker 24: just focus, stay connected the whole forty minutes and you
- 53:26Speaker 24: know we'll have success.
- 53:30Speaker 9: Always.
- 53:31Speaker 12: The biggest thing you learned after that for the game.
- 53:33Speaker 25: About the team.
- 53:35Speaker 24: Really just how close and connected we were after that game.
- 53:39Speaker 24: Nobody like nobody was in shock. Nobody was in panic mode.
- 53:42Speaker 24: You know, Like I said, team's gonna go through adversity.
- 53:44Speaker 24: It's about the teams that can stay together, stay connected
- 53:47Speaker 24: through that time.
- 53:47Speaker 9: So that's what we're doing. Everybody is still positive and
- 53:50Speaker 9: we're just we're just ready for tomorrow. You want to
- 53:53Speaker 9: work on in your game, really just being more confident
- 53:57Speaker 9: shooting the ball.
- 53:57Speaker 24: I know last game I kind of got in my
- 53:59Speaker 24: head a little bit by shooting the ball, and Coach
- 54:01Speaker 24: Bookie kind of got on to me and was telling me, like,
- 54:03Speaker 24: you know, you're you're a great shooter, so just take
- 54:05Speaker 24: those shots of confidence.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:07Speaker 12: I feel like after the game, Buck he was saying,
- 54:08Speaker 12: you'd have to go back and watch the film and
- 54:10Speaker 12: kind of look at the shot selection. Y'all had a
- 54:13Speaker 12: chance to kind of review that. We're pleased with the
- 54:15Speaker 12: shots selection. It wasn't it wasn't that shots were falling
- 54:19Speaker 12: or where y'all taking shots that you weren't really liking
- 54:23Speaker 12: to take.
- 54:23Speaker 24: I think I think it was kind of both, Like
- 54:25Speaker 24: we were getting the shots we wanted, but at saying
- 54:27Speaker 24: time the shots weren't falling, but the shots we were
- 54:29Speaker 24: taking we were kind of like rushing. I guess rushing
- 54:32Speaker 24: a little bit, so the shots weren't really you know,
- 54:34Speaker 24: online enough, So I think it's just just stand poised
- 54:37Speaker 24: and just you know, stand focused.
- 54:40Speaker 13: Why do you think you guys were able to bounce
- 54:42Speaker 13: back so well from back to back losses earlier this season?
- 54:45Speaker 13: Is there anything you could take from that experience that
- 54:47Speaker 13: you can kind.
- 54:47Speaker 9: Of carry over here? Because you repeat that, I'm sorry
- 54:50Speaker 9: kind of you.
- 54:51Speaker 13: Guys had back to back losses earlier in your real
- 54:53Speaker 13: estate and UCF and bounce back so well from that.
- 54:57Speaker 13: What can you take maybe from that experience that you
- 54:59Speaker 13: can maybe you replicate here.
- 55:02Speaker 24: Really, just like I said, just staying connected, keep trusting
- 55:05Speaker 24: each other. You know, the coach is giving us a
- 55:07Speaker 24: blueprint in the sky report, you know, just focusing on
- 55:10Speaker 24: that and just you know, paying attention to the details,
- 55:13Speaker 24: and that's what we got to do for this game.
- 55:16Speaker 12: Coach mentioned y'all like may have been a little antsy
- 55:18Speaker 12: in that Florida game. Did you think y'all were a
- 55:20Speaker 12: little antsy?
- 55:21Speaker 24: Uh, yeah, a little bit in the first half, but
- 55:23Speaker 24: second half kind of calmed down. But you know, sotomoren't falling,
- 55:26Speaker 24: so there's nothing we can do about that. We just
- 55:29Speaker 24: got to control the controllables, all right.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Jakari Lane Tomorrow night eight o'clock read Arena, Aggie's and Missouri.
- 55:38Speaker 1: You know, marvel Craft has been part of our community
- 55:41Speaker 1: for over twenty five years. Joe and the staff every
- 55:45Speaker 1: single day are doing remodels, construction, installing granted countertops and
- 55:52Speaker 1: kitchen and bathrooms. You can go buy the showroom at
- 55:58Speaker 1: West Carson and Finfest and Brian and check out examples
- 56:03Speaker 1: of the work that they do, and you'll.
- 56:05Speaker 16: Go, that's pretty good.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Eight four six three eight eight one eight four six
