- 0:46Speaker 1: calles them to understand faith in all of its complexity,
- 0:50Speaker 1: then even laugh a little bit and have a great time.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I think that Jumping the Broom is going to be
- 0:55Speaker 1: the kind of movie that is going to have a
- 0:57Speaker 1: long shelf life and people are going to be talking
- 0:59Speaker 1: about it years to come. So if you're watching this
- 1:02Speaker 1: and you're thinking about what am I gonna do with

- 1:32Speaker 1: angela bath and TD Jakes coping crazy. I'll be looking
- 1:36Speaker 1: for you.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Be there, Bishop Jakes. What inspired you to get into
- 1:55Speaker 2: the movie business.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You know, the movie business was not really a first
- 2:00Speaker 1: writch for me. When you think about it. We've had
- 2:02Speaker 1: years of doing gospel plays. I grew up being involved
- 2:05Speaker 1: in plays in church and entertainment, and so this was
- 2:09Speaker 1: an opportunity to continue our brand. When I think about it,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I think of it in terms of communication, whether you're
- 2:15Speaker 1: doing it through books or through preaching or through speaking
- 2:18Speaker 1: or motivation, or doing it on film. It's all about
- 2:21Speaker 1: finding unique ways to communicate with an every increasing and
- 2:25Speaker 1: diverse audience of people.
- 2:27Speaker 2: How has Hollywood received your films thus far?
- 2:31Speaker 1: You know, I've been amazed how well Hollywood has received
- 2:33Speaker 1: our films, and the very idea of faith based and
- 2:36Speaker 1: family friendly films a bit of a novelty to them,
- 2:39Speaker 1: but they're very open minded. The actor of them particularly,
- 2:43Speaker 1: are appreciative of quality films that they can participate in.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Particularly minority actors often find it difficult to find a
- 2:51Speaker 1: job that they can be cast into, be employed, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: more importantly, walk away feeling good about the thing that's
- 2:58Speaker 1: been really exciting to us is that we get to
- 3:01Speaker 1: write the stories that we tell, and we get to
- 3:03Speaker 1: control how we are seen in our images and how
- 3:07Speaker 1: they're projected, and that as a community that we are
- 3:10Speaker 1: far more diverse than what Hollywood often depicts, not only
- 3:14Speaker 1: faith people, but black people in general. To understand that
- 3:18Speaker 1: we're not all gangbang earths, we're not all drug dealers,
- 3:21Speaker 1: we're not all murderers. To give us an opportunity to
- 3:24Speaker 1: say that we have families, that we are not a
- 3:27Speaker 1: monolithic society that we are intellectual and we are creative
- 3:31Speaker 1: and we are diverse. It's kind of taking the reins
- 3:34Speaker 1: of our own destiny back and wow, that can be
- 3:36Speaker 1: a lot of fun
