- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five whistle stock in
- 0:07Speaker 1: Sports and they go wear to whistle. Yeah it's do bad,
- 0:11Speaker 1: but what did you expect. It's a podcast called twenty
- 0:15Speaker 1: five Whistles. Did that work? I like it? Yeah? I
- 0:21Speaker 1: don't want to do it every time, so maybe I
- 0:23Speaker 1: just record you do a couple of dry sports here. Okay,
- 0:25Speaker 1: we can do that. Can we fit it in? Yeah?
- 0:27Speaker 1: By the way, the show twenty five Whistles brought you
- 0:28Speaker 1: by Draft King Sports Book. We're put in the promo
- 0:30Speaker 1: code Bobby Sports. Ready, I'm gonna give you a couple here,
- 0:33Speaker 1: all right, sports sports playoffs? I guess they could be
- 0:39Speaker 1: depending on what section we're in, right, Yeah, like the
- 0:42Speaker 1: NBA finals. Uh, college football, we're talking college football? Can
- 0:50Speaker 1: that fit? Hit that again? Let me see what I
- 0:52Speaker 1: can get a gay again. This is a podcast called fives.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm talking to the Olympics and that's like one second.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Well that's quick though, Yeah, okay, well that's what we'll do.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Then we'll just do for now, we'll just we'll just
- 1:10Speaker 1: do sports sports sports. Yeah, if some of those work,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and then we'll just do a sports one. Should we doing?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Like all three of us A big sports yeah, but
- 1:20Speaker 1: can you hear it? You think I say, we try it? Okay,
- 1:22Speaker 1: go one, two three? Sports? Yeah, pretty good, that's good.
- 1:27Speaker 1: All right, let's get to what we say we're doing that.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We're not it. We'll just talk about sports. I do
- 1:31Speaker 1: want to talk about Caitlin Clark at first. You know,
- 1:34Speaker 1: the more she talks even after they lost, the more
- 1:36Speaker 1: I like her because she's like for real. They had
- 1:41Speaker 1: said to her that maybe you go to the White
- 1:43Speaker 1: House as well. There was a suggestion that Joe Biden
- 1:46Speaker 1: had would invite Iowa to the White House as well
- 1:48Speaker 1: with LSU because the championship team used to go to
- 1:50Speaker 1: the White House. Yep, it doesn't matter who the president is.
- 1:53Speaker 1: If you win the Super Bowl, you win the World Series,
- 1:55Speaker 1: you can invite it to the White House. And Caitlyn
- 1:57Speaker 1: Clark was like, nat, I don't think we didn't win.
- 2:01Speaker 1: She was like, it's LSU. They won. Runner ups don't go.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I can appreciate that. Yeah, you can't do that. Well,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I appreciate her going runner ups don't go, even though
- 2:09Speaker 1: I was a runner up. So it's her going even
- 2:12Speaker 1: though we didn't win, we still shouldn't go. But this
- 2:14Speaker 1: it's still all about her. That's what's cool, crazy, annoying.
- 2:18Speaker 1: If you're an LSU fan. All of this is about
- 2:20Speaker 1: Caitlyn Clark and Iowa because we've never seen a player
- 2:23Speaker 1: like her before. But the two things that she said
- 2:25Speaker 1: that I liked, and look, we're starting to show off
- 2:27Speaker 1: with that. The two things she said over the last
- 2:29Speaker 1: few days that I really liked was one, we don't
- 2:31Speaker 1: deserve to go to the White House. We didn't win.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And then two guys trash talk all the time and
- 2:37Speaker 1: it's not a huge story. Okay, we did it. I
- 2:41Speaker 1: was trash talk too. It shouldn't be a hug story.
- 2:43Speaker 1: It's part of the game. I appreciated that too, because
- 2:46Speaker 1: she was like, we're cool me and you know, we're
- 2:48Speaker 1: all good. So that's what's up. I'm big Caitlyn Clark guy.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I guess, yeah, just competing out there, right, Yeah, I guess.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So she's a different standard on women, an unfair standard
- 2:58Speaker 1: on women that they're not supposed to react like that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But when guys do it, it's entertainment, but women do it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Oh that's that's a little too far. But God, think
- 3:05Speaker 1: she's so good. I mean, I sat with Eddie rest
- 3:07Speaker 1: in peace. I sat with Eddie. It was just showing
- 3:09Speaker 1: him all these videos off Caitlin Clark and he's like,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't watch a women's basketball and
- 3:13Speaker 1: I was like, dude, she's different. He was like, I
- 3:15Speaker 1: don't know, I don't watch mu's basketball. And it wasn't
- 3:18Speaker 1: like I'm super early on her. I started watching her
- 3:21Speaker 1: probably a third of the way through the season a
- 3:22Speaker 1: little bit by watching her looking for clips. I was
- 3:25Speaker 1: never sitting down to watch an Iowa basketball game on
- 3:28Speaker 1: a Thursday night, but I think I would. If they
- 3:30Speaker 1: were playing right now and they played, I think I
- 3:32Speaker 1: would turn it on and watch it. I have a confession.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I have major fomo because I still have not seen
- 3:36Speaker 1: your play. I didn't watch it all last weekend. And
- 3:38Speaker 1: it's different watching it live because you're just not watching
- 3:41Speaker 1: highlights and you don't expect those things to happen randomly.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You only expected to see in a highlight package, right
- 3:45Speaker 1: what she would shoot from, basically the logo, and you're like, well,
- 3:48Speaker 1: there's no, oh my god, that went in? How did
- 3:50Speaker 1: that go in? It's like when Steph does crazy stuff. Yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 1: so revolutionizing it. It's awesome. Love to see it. They
- 3:55Speaker 1: did put out the way too early. Top twenty five
- 3:57Speaker 1: minutes college basketball rankings for next year, and a lot
- 4:00Speaker 1: of this is gonna be tough because you don't know
- 4:03Speaker 1: what's happening with the portal. You don't know fully who's
- 4:06Speaker 1: going to be drafted or even go through the process.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But at number one, Yukon Snogo could opt to leave.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But if he doesn't, and I don't know what his
- 4:16Speaker 1: NBA draft stock would because he's not a huge dude. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 1: he doesn't. He's kind of a tweener where he's not
- 4:22Speaker 1: really a down low six to eleven seven foot center,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and he's not really like a stretch four type guy.
- 4:31Speaker 1: He's like Oscar Sheepway Kentucky, where in college he's dominating.
- 4:36Speaker 1: But even Sheepway went and went to the draft process
- 4:39Speaker 1: last year, I believe, and he'll probably I don't think
- 4:42Speaker 1: he's Stand of the Year Kentucky as well. But I
- 4:44Speaker 1: don't know that Snogo leaves, he's gonna make so much
- 4:46Speaker 1: aniol money as well. Yeah, and I don't think he'll
- 4:49Speaker 1: transfer to the NBA, like you said, almost like he's
- 4:52Speaker 1: got to find a Draymond Green role. But I don't
- 4:54Speaker 1: think he's even that athletic enough. Even Draymond had to
- 4:57Speaker 1: figure out that role though, meaning he kind of came
- 5:00Speaker 1: by that naturally. Yeah, he wasn't liked to no go
- 5:04Speaker 1: at all in college, right, he had to figure out.
- 5:07Speaker 1: He had time to spend in the NBA to figure out,
- 5:09Speaker 1: you know, what he was good at, why he was
- 5:11Speaker 1: good at it. The players around him mattered as well.
- 5:14Speaker 1: But Hurley's bringing back a really good recruiting class five
- 5:17Speaker 1: star kid, that Stephan Castle kid Marquette at two. They
- 5:21Speaker 1: won the biggest regular season and conference tournament. Boy, they
- 5:24Speaker 1: really asked the bed in the NC Double A tournament
- 5:28Speaker 1: and Marquette was had big expectations. And I mean, I
- 5:32Speaker 1: don't even consider them a really good team right now
- 5:35Speaker 1: only because they did they didn't do anything in the tournament. No,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I agree, And I'm looking at their projected lineup. So
- 5:41Speaker 1: they bring that coal at kid five or could come
- 5:43Speaker 1: back Shauka smart and you know with Marquet because they're
- 5:46Speaker 1: in was that Schols in Wisconsin right like Milwaukee? You
- 5:49Speaker 1: want to look that up because I only know that
- 5:50Speaker 1: from Shakas Mart being on like a live fiend. They
- 5:53Speaker 1: were like, Okay, we're gonna check out with Schauka smart.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Now it would always be like Milwaukee unless they were
- 5:57Speaker 1: there for a game. Milwaukee. Oh, thank god, because they
- 6:01Speaker 1: could have just been there for a game and he
- 6:03Speaker 1: was just happy to be piping in from there. Marquette
- 6:06Speaker 1: a two duke at three. Kentucky at four. Okay, I'm
- 6:10Speaker 1: not believing in Kentucky ever again until they give me
- 6:12Speaker 1: at least two reasons and two seasons to do so.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Same crap they say this year is what they say
- 6:18Speaker 1: every other year. Calipart a number one recruiting class in
- 6:20Speaker 1: the country. That's every year. Again, that's every year. Florida
- 6:24Speaker 1: Atlantic at number five. All five starters from the tournament
- 6:27Speaker 1: will be back, they say. But that's if nobody enters
- 6:30Speaker 1: the transfer portal Listen. I can't imagine that at least
- 6:35Speaker 1: one of those kids doesn't want to go to a
- 6:37Speaker 1: big power six school. Nicer amenities, knights or travel nights
- 6:42Speaker 1: or food in il deal. You know they're gonna get offered.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Wasn't Dusty May who's the head coach. Wasn't he saying
- 6:48Speaker 1: that they were getting poached during the tournament. Yeah, I
- 6:51Speaker 1: can't imagine all five state. If they do, they must
- 6:53Speaker 1: have got a good influx of money from their own
- 6:55Speaker 1: boosters to keep them staying and feeling comfortable with in Il. Yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I think I saw before the tournament they didn't have
- 7:00Speaker 1: any money at all, and then like through the tournament,
- 7:02Speaker 1: it was millions of dollars really all of a sudden. Well,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I hope personally they stay, but I can't imagine that
- 7:07Speaker 1: one of these big programs with a bunch of money
- 7:09Speaker 1: don't come knock and at least one or two of
- 7:10Speaker 1: those guys leave Michigan State, Kansas at seven, Arizona at eight,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Houston at nine, and Crating at ten. Arkansas does come
- 7:17Speaker 1: in at twelve, which is pretty good. I was because
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yukon wins. We haven't talked about this since, but Yukon
- 7:23Speaker 1: won obviously on Monday, and I did not win the
- 7:25Speaker 1: money with Coleman, which is extremely disappointing because I was
- 7:28Speaker 1: thirty five hundred dollars. Yeah huh, Fabian said, I feel
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yukon as a blue blood. We've been saying this for
- 7:36Speaker 1: weeks now. I felt like they were already there, but
- 7:39Speaker 1: now for sure there. I think they're there. Look up
- 7:42Speaker 1: Kansas all time national championships. Is it true? They only
- 7:44Speaker 1: have like three or four. I would have thought Kansas
- 7:48Speaker 1: would have had twenty, and I might be wrong about that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Right away, I'm seeing four. I just would have expected
- 7:56Speaker 1: them to have a lot more than that, a lot
- 7:58Speaker 1: of final fours. But blue blood for being in the
- 8:00Speaker 1: final four, I say we were vote Kansas and put
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yukon in there. Yeah, four, that's what it should be.
- 8:06Speaker 1: We should have a set number of blue bloods. And
- 8:08Speaker 1: if you lose your citizenship, you get you get sent out.
- 8:11Speaker 1: What is it relegated? Yeah, yeah, you get relegated down
- 8:14Speaker 1: to light blue bloods. The portygum. Yes, I didn't know
- 8:18Speaker 1: Kansas long with four national championships, Yeah, that doesn't seem right.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Look all time national championships in college basketball, because is
- 8:26Speaker 1: there anybody that's won four or so that we don't
- 8:28Speaker 1: even consider in that category of the greats of all
- 8:31Speaker 1: time college basketball program? When UCLA is that's blue blood
- 8:34Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah, go ahead, they have eleven Ucla, North Carolina, Duke, Indiana,
- 8:40Speaker 1: Kentucky with eight, that's a blue blood. Go ahead, Okay,
- 8:43Speaker 1: North Carolina was six nailed it. I'm surprised there aren't
- 8:46Speaker 1: more than this though, Go ahead, Yukon, Indiana and Duke
- 8:48Speaker 1: all have five. Okay, yeah, U con texts Kansas place,
- 8:51Speaker 1: they're out of there, go ahead, yep. And then Kansas
- 8:55Speaker 1: is number five with four. Anybody else at four? No,
- 8:59Speaker 1: anybody anybody at three who's sneaking up on Kansas. That's
- 9:03Speaker 1: the top five right there. That's all they have listed.
- 9:06Speaker 1: We pull Kansas out of blue bloods. I'm suggesting it now.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You contact is their place. We can't have an unlimited
- 9:13Speaker 1: blue blood list. Yeah you can't beat Yeah, No, you
- 9:16Speaker 1: gotta pull him out. You need five. We're doing it.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You need five championships to be a blue blood. Kansas
- 9:21Speaker 1: out have a lot of Kansas friends. You know what.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry to say. You're no longer a blue blood?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Who three last year? They did one last year. That
- 9:30Speaker 1: was they'd only won three until last year. That is
- 9:33Speaker 1: crazy too. You Seela at twenty five, same Mary's at
- 9:37Speaker 1: number twenty four, or Tennessee at twenty three, San Diego
- 9:39Speaker 1: State at twenty two, Gaza I get twenty and Baylor
- 9:42Speaker 1: Za I got twenty one and Baylor twenty. As far
- 9:44Speaker 1: as the top twenty five, way too early, but there's
- 9:46Speaker 1: just so much Until you know the draft, it's time
- 9:50Speaker 1: to go through the process. I think that is in
- 9:52Speaker 1: like late April, yeah, the twenty seventh. Yeah, and then
- 9:55Speaker 1: they'll know within a couple of weeks. Remember Jayla Williams
- 9:57Speaker 1: with it last year Arkansas, and I was like, for
- 9:59Speaker 1: sure he's coming back, but his gray just kept getting
- 10:01Speaker 1: better and better and better. And then he got to
- 10:02Speaker 1: that guaranteed money stage, which is either first round or
- 10:07Speaker 1: early early second round, and you get guaranteed money. I
- 10:10Speaker 1: get it, go jump. It's those guys that are gonna
- 10:12Speaker 1: get picked in the mid to second round, mid to
- 10:13Speaker 1: late second round, that's not guaranteed money. The two ways
- 10:16Speaker 1: you go as if one you're getting guaranteed money, or
- 10:18Speaker 1: two you actually can't improve your draft stock because you're
- 10:20Speaker 1: already old and by old I mean twenty one twenty two,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and you had a great season. There's really nothing you
- 10:25Speaker 1: can do. But you're getting a year older. So I
- 10:28Speaker 1: can see that being a reason as well. It is
- 10:30Speaker 1: Villanova with three by the way, Okay, so Villanova creeping
- 10:35Speaker 1: up on Kansas and they're blue knocking them further down
- 10:37Speaker 1: and out of the blue blood list in Kansas. Okay,
- 10:40Speaker 1: let's go. Let's go over the tittle tattle tattle I'll
- 10:50Speaker 1: say this too. Coach Bilam is coming up. Coach Brett Bilama,
- 10:53Speaker 1: head football coach at Illinois. Also blue, that's blue ray orange.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But they're blue too, orange and blue. Yeah, you're right,
- 11:01Speaker 1: the color blindness. You could convince me that they're not blue,
- 11:04Speaker 1: but I feel like they're We're to coach be coming up,
- 11:05Speaker 1: who had a great season Illinois last year, but now
- 11:07Speaker 1: over to Kevin playing much better as of late. What
- 11:10Speaker 1: do you think the Lakers ceiling in the playoffs is?
- 11:12Speaker 1: When at all? Baby, I think that's the ceiling if
- 11:17Speaker 1: Davis stays healthy, Lebron doesn't try to be a one.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I think if Lebron is two, the second option and
- 11:28Speaker 1: there's a healthy Anthony Davis. Man, when Anthon Davis is on,
- 11:31Speaker 1: he's Yannis like because he's so strong, he's not he's
- 11:37Speaker 1: not Yannis like, and that he can play as far
- 11:40Speaker 1: back and as far outside as Yannis can and not
- 11:43Speaker 1: the Yannis is busting three. He's like Steph. But you
- 11:44Speaker 1: have to at least respect a little bit that deep
- 11:47Speaker 1: mid range from your honest But Anthony Davis is dominant,
- 11:50Speaker 1: So I'm gonna say they can. I must say they
- 11:53Speaker 1: can win at all but Phoenix is gonna be tough
- 11:55Speaker 1: on their side. Wouldn't that be fun? First round? I
- 11:59Speaker 1: don't want a first roun. I want to see them.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'm glad they're making playoffs, gonna make a bunch of
- 12:02Speaker 1: money because I bet the Lakers just to make the
- 12:04Speaker 1: playoffs when they weren't looking so good. But I think
- 12:06Speaker 1: if Lebron's not to not having to be the number one,
- 12:09Speaker 1: but if Russell plays, there's just a lot of guys
- 12:11Speaker 1: that are that need to know their roles and not
- 12:13Speaker 1: try to be a superstar because they ain't really superstars anymore,
- 12:15Speaker 1: but they used to be superstars. That kind of vibe.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But I really do think if Lebron's healthy and he
- 12:20Speaker 1: doesn't have to be the first option, that they can
- 12:23Speaker 1: get to the Western Conference finals or championship. The ceiling
- 12:26Speaker 1: for me is it probably won't. But the ceiling is
- 12:28Speaker 1: I do think if things go right health wise, they
- 12:31Speaker 1: can win it. I wouldn't bet them to win it.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I'm not saying they will, but I think they can.
- 12:35Speaker 1: That's their absolute ceiling. Hey, you, I think second round
- 12:40Speaker 1: would be their ceiling. All depends on who they play.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Aft they are winning it, no getting there, I think
- 12:44Speaker 1: winning one round, I think that's their ceiling. I mean,
- 12:46Speaker 1: if they gotta play Phoenix, I'm gonna try to think it.
- 12:49Speaker 1: But again, and like you said, it is on a
- 12:51Speaker 1: d whatever, whatever however he wants to play, is going
- 12:54Speaker 1: to take them however far they can go. If they're
- 12:56Speaker 1: the six, it's they're the five. If they're the four,
- 12:59Speaker 1: can they even get the fourth spot? You know? And
- 13:01Speaker 1: again we were talking about them being eight or nine
- 13:03Speaker 1: just two weeks ago. Yeah, that West is just so
- 13:06Speaker 1: you know, cluttered up. Okay, you think getting to the
- 13:08Speaker 1: second round. I think winning the whole thing is the ceiling.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I love it all right. Next up, do you think
- 13:13Speaker 1: the new sixty five game minimum for players to receive
- 13:16Speaker 1: awards will actually work on cutting back with load management?
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think what it'll do, especially early in the season,
- 13:21Speaker 1: it will cut back on players taking load management breaks
- 13:24Speaker 1: because what if they're hurt later in the season, what
- 13:27Speaker 1: if they need it later in the season. It's almost
- 13:29Speaker 1: like you got to play a whole bunch up front
- 13:30Speaker 1: to make it, to make it okay that you can
- 13:32Speaker 1: actually take load management breaks or be injured in the
- 13:34Speaker 1: back half of the season, because if you take load
- 13:37Speaker 1: management breaks, early ish, nobody does the first week. Let's
- 13:40Speaker 1: say you take load management breaks early week three, week five, Well,
- 13:44Speaker 1: then you're out of days and all of a sudden,
- 13:46Speaker 1: you're hurt for three weeks and you had a great season.
- 13:48Speaker 1: You can't win MVP because you took many days off
- 13:50Speaker 1: at the beginning. It's like using all your vacation days
- 13:52Speaker 1: up before June. Yeah, you get to the end of
- 13:55Speaker 1: the union, like, we can't go on vacation, We'll use
- 13:57Speaker 1: them all up already. I feel like that's the same thing.
- 13:59Speaker 1: So I do think it will affect some guys some
- 14:03Speaker 1: And the only guys that really want to take load
- 14:05Speaker 1: management are the older guys in the superstar guys because
- 14:07Speaker 1: other people they got to keep their spot in the league.
- 14:09Speaker 1: You don't have a bunch of second teamers on a
- 14:13Speaker 1: team like Utah, who's pretty good ish taking a bunch
- 14:20Speaker 1: of breaks. So I'm gonna say it will affect it,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but I don't know that it will overall affect it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But I think early in the year you won't have
- 14:25Speaker 1: as many guys. First half of the year, you won't
- 14:27Speaker 1: have as many guys taking breaks because they gotta play
- 14:30Speaker 1: sixty five games in order to meet all those requirements
- 14:32Speaker 1: for MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year,
- 14:34Speaker 1: and a lot of those things are built into people's contracts. Yeah,
- 14:37Speaker 1: where if you hit this or you hit sir, then
- 14:39Speaker 1: you get paid. And if you know you're having a
- 14:41Speaker 1: great season, I just think you probably don't just in case,
- 14:43Speaker 1: because if you get hurt for a few weeks and
- 14:45Speaker 1: you've had an MVP season, you get hurt for a
- 14:47Speaker 1: few weeks three quarters ways with the year and you
- 14:49Speaker 1: come back strong, you still win the MVP right now
- 14:50Speaker 1: because there's not a minimalize games. So overall, no, not really,
- 14:57Speaker 1: but early in season, yes, I think it's more. Also,
- 15:00Speaker 1: quick note the NBA kind of just letting everybody know, hey,
- 15:02Speaker 1: we're trying to do something here rather than actually, Karen,
- 15:05Speaker 1: if the players sit or not only eleven times this
- 15:07Speaker 1: nineteen sixty eight, have any player want any of those
- 15:10Speaker 1: big awards while playing less than sixty five games. So
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's not something that happens a lot anyway. But I
- 15:14Speaker 1: do think it'll keep these players that happen in their contract.
- 15:17Speaker 1: You have a shot at it from taking all the
- 15:18Speaker 1: days off just in case of what might happen later
- 15:20Speaker 1: in the season. Yeah, all right, next up going to
- 15:22Speaker 1: the NFL with reports, So the Patriots apparently shopping mac
- 15:26Speaker 1: Jones right now? Do you think it's crazy? Relationship is
- 15:28Speaker 1: kind of getting unreparable. I'm asking you're the Patriots fan.
- 15:31Speaker 1: It's weird because I'm seeing all this stuff this week
- 15:34Speaker 1: nationally with all these people saying they're shopping them. You know,
- 15:36Speaker 1: there's these teams that they want to get them to
- 15:38Speaker 1: maybe what are they gonna do though, they think they're
- 15:40Speaker 1: gonna try to sutd Lamar and that that would be
- 15:42Speaker 1: literally the only thing. But there's no way Belichicks is
- 15:44Speaker 1: gonna give up that paycheck for Lamar. There's just no way.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't think there's any way he would do something
- 15:48Speaker 1: like that. And so to not have a backup plan
- 15:51Speaker 1: is the most It was the weirdest thing to me.
- 15:53Speaker 1: And then a bunch of local reporters are saying it's
- 15:55Speaker 1: not true. So I don't know what to believe. But
- 15:58Speaker 1: I think just this being out there will really anger
- 16:01Speaker 1: mac Jones. Well, between last season with old Zappi and yeah,
- 16:06Speaker 1: Lamar and your owners talking about it, I mean, they
- 16:10Speaker 1: don't feel good. It isn't and sure they're all professionals,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but still didn't feel good. It's still a human. He's
- 16:15Speaker 1: like heang everyone. I love people like talking about who's
- 16:16Speaker 1: gonna replace me, who might replace me? It would be
- 16:18Speaker 1: funny if this person replace me. Heck, this guy did
- 16:20Speaker 1: replace me for a little bit. Yeah. Do they not
- 16:22Speaker 1: believe in mac Jones? Do you read the message boards? Yeah?
- 16:26Speaker 1: A little bit. And like I said, it's it's just
- 16:28Speaker 1: hit or miss. And I think you gotta give them
- 16:31Speaker 1: one more with Bill O'Brien at least and try to
- 16:33Speaker 1: see how that goes, because last year was just I mean,
- 16:35Speaker 1: it was just a mess all around. Raiders, Texans, Bucks
- 16:38Speaker 1: and Commanders are the rumored of potential destinations. Although it's
- 16:42Speaker 1: rumored and its potential, so that's what's up. It means
- 16:45Speaker 1: nothing yet, but i'll before there's fire though, there's usually
- 16:49Speaker 1: some sort of smoke. Not all smokes real fire, but
- 16:51Speaker 1: before there is fire, there's always some sort of smoke.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And they've just not been respectful to Mac Jones, not
- 16:57Speaker 1: at all. I mean, I kind of feel bad for
- 16:59Speaker 1: even if they felt that way. It just feels like
- 17:01Speaker 1: there's been too much out there where they don't believe. Yeah,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and I just kind of wonder. Okay, you're leading up
- 17:05Speaker 1: to the draft, or they just trying to get something
- 17:07Speaker 1: out there, so maybe they can get something possibly, who knows,
- 17:09Speaker 1: they could just be reports just to get him out
- 17:11Speaker 1: there for fun. That's it all right, next one going
- 17:13Speaker 1: to the Masters here. What would you consider a win
- 17:15Speaker 1: for Tiger this weekend? A win? That would be awesome.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You know everybody's watching that. I'm watching for Tiger. I'll
- 17:23Speaker 1: watch Day one for Tiger. I'll try to watch Tigers.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I mean today, I'll try. I mean, I don't even
- 17:27Speaker 1: know what I should have just paid attention, but I
- 17:30Speaker 1: will watch Tiger until Tiger is not there anymore. What's
- 17:35Speaker 1: a win to make the cut? Probably to be um
- 17:40Speaker 1: one of the pairings after eleven am, that's a that's
- 17:46Speaker 1: a big win on Sunday. Yeah, make the cut and
- 17:50Speaker 1: top ten. I mean, it just gets better and better.
- 17:53Speaker 1: But it's Kenny actually walk the course? O kay? Does
- 17:57Speaker 1: he have the stamina after the injury to not only
- 18:02Speaker 1: walk it, because I'm sure he's done a lot of
- 18:03Speaker 1: walking in exercise, but to stay as mentally sharp, to
- 18:07Speaker 1: stay as strong while doing that. And the answers, yes,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I think so. I believe I believe, I believe anything
- 18:13Speaker 1: called Tiger three major short of Nicholas's record, He's three.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Will he do it? I don't think he'll do it.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I think the Rex got him. I think the Rex
- 18:23Speaker 1: and the waitresses got him. Yeah, the waitress what led
- 18:26Speaker 1: off the other stuff. I would love to see it though.
- 18:29Speaker 1: All right, next question, outside of Tiger what is your
- 18:31Speaker 1: favorite story or headline this weekend? Well, the storylines that
- 18:35Speaker 1: I look for now, I've listed them in order. Number one,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Tiger back, that's it. That's number one, easily now that
- 18:43Speaker 1: one could die off. I do look forward to all
- 18:47Speaker 1: the live golfers competing, the ones that are able to play,
- 18:49Speaker 1: obviously one because they're allowed to play too. Will they
- 18:52Speaker 1: be Will it be as contentious as it was a
- 18:54Speaker 1: bit where they play the US Open? Was that's the
- 18:55Speaker 1: last major that they got to play that major? Could
- 18:59Speaker 1: be wrong, but you know, but the so far, and
- 19:01Speaker 1: have a couple of friends that that are there and
- 19:04Speaker 1: they would be into the practice rounds. Their reports to
- 19:07Speaker 1: me are that it's not super contentious. At least you
- 19:11Speaker 1: can't tell by the driving range or the playing. But
- 19:13Speaker 1: I will like to see that. There are some other
- 19:16Speaker 1: things now that I watched Full Swing, Like they're certain
- 19:20Speaker 1: golfers I'm just into like Tony you know Tony Fee now,
- 19:25Speaker 1: Like I've always liked to watch them, but I didn't
- 19:27Speaker 1: know anything about him, But now I love that dude. Right,
- 19:31Speaker 1: did you like it? Did you watch Full Swing? Yeah?
- 19:32Speaker 1: I haven't seen all of them, but I did see
- 19:34Speaker 1: his episode of his family. Yeah, he's like, you know,
- 19:37Speaker 1: my wife parent died, So am I not as good
- 19:41Speaker 1: right now? Probably because I haven't spent a lot of
- 19:43Speaker 1: time with her. My family's first because his parent died.
- 19:45Speaker 1: He's crying at the go. I'm all in, yeah like
- 19:49Speaker 1: me Now he's that's It's a dude like more Kawa,
- 19:51Speaker 1: better than I ever did even watching him. I don't
- 19:56Speaker 1: forget what you've been. It was when he was doing
- 19:57Speaker 1: the play by play, like the commentary is wearing it
- 20:00Speaker 1: while he's playing a golf tournament, brought out of his personality,
- 20:03Speaker 1: like I'm in. It's awesome. So the guys that I
- 20:06Speaker 1: now like from Full Swing, I like to watch them.
- 20:09Speaker 1: That's my third favorite. That's my third storyline. Okay, all
- 20:11Speaker 1: those guys from that docuseries on Netflix, even Scotty Scheffler,
- 20:15Speaker 1: who we talked with Roddick about it a little bit. Obviously,
- 20:19Speaker 1: if you watch golf on any level, you see how
- 20:22Speaker 1: dominant he's been. But to know that he'd never won
- 20:25Speaker 1: anything and then all of a sudden boom of coming
- 20:29Speaker 1: down and he's like the most normal dude. It seems
- 20:32Speaker 1: that way, right. Yeah. So like I like Sheffle, I
- 20:35Speaker 1: don't want him to win though, again, you want somebody else. Yeah,
- 20:37Speaker 1: let somebody else win. Chaos and then you know, Rory,
- 20:42Speaker 1: if he wins this, he wins the Grand Slam of
- 20:45Speaker 1: you know, the Tiger Slam. Yeah, and that's what they call,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you know, when Tiger hit all of them within a year.
- 20:50Speaker 1: He did whan the Tiger somebody hits all of them? Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 1: isn't his only one? He has a one? Yeah, Rory yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 1: The match is awesome. I love Thursday and I love Sunday.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I like Friday and Saturday. Thursday's awesome because it's like
- 21:07Speaker 1: day one of the NC doable A tournament. Everybody's in,
- 21:09Speaker 1: You're seeing what's happened, who's having a good day up front.
- 21:11Speaker 1: You can't actually win it on Thursday. You can't win
- 21:13Speaker 1: the NC doable A tournament on that first day, but man,
- 21:16Speaker 1: you can lose it. So I like that, and that
- 21:18Speaker 1: like Sunday when we're finally seeing who's there and who
- 21:20Speaker 1: can win it, and you can look the best on Thursday,
- 21:22Speaker 1: just like in the NCAA tournament, and then the next game,
- 21:24Speaker 1: next round. Yeah, you could be the worst. A freaking men,
- 21:27Speaker 1: I'm pumped for today. Let's go all right, that's tittle tattle.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Thank you the tattle. Let's get reminder of the twenty

- 21:59Speaker 1: that I know that. You guys said that, and I
- 22:02Speaker 1: was like, dang, I should have picked somebody else. Jordan's
- 22:04Speaker 1: Speek to finish in the top forty. Those who are four, Mike,

- 22:45Speaker 1: Now we go over see he's done at all. Defensive
- 22:50Speaker 1: coordinator Wisconsin, head coach at Wisconsin, head coach at Arkansas
- 22:54Speaker 1: went to the Patriots for a little bit after the Arkansas.
- 22:58Speaker 1: After that he was out there. I really liked the guy,
- 23:02Speaker 1: like as a dude, loved him as a coach, loved him.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But coach Brett Beelam, who had an amazing season last
- 23:08Speaker 1: year Illinois he is on with us. Let's go over
- 23:10Speaker 1: now and talk to coach Bilma. Coach, what up? What's up? Bobby?
- 23:13Speaker 1: How you doing? Man? Good? Let me start by saying,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I really liked him Wisconsin. I loved him at Arkansas,
- 23:18Speaker 1: and you know what the love affair, I stayed at Illinois.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I'd never rooted for Illinois in my whole life, and
- 23:22Speaker 1: here I am watching games after games messaging coach like,
- 23:26Speaker 1: don't don't talking about it was I never watched a
- 23:29Speaker 1: full Illinois game in my life, coach. But congratulations, thanks Bobby. Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 1: obviously really excited. You know, the familiarity. I'm from Illinois originally, right,
- 23:40Speaker 1: so that was kind of cool from the get go.
- 23:41Speaker 1: But to come back and being in a conference where
- 23:44Speaker 1: we've had success and you know, really grew from my
- 23:46Speaker 1: opportunity to Arkansas really then the three years after that
- 23:49Speaker 1: with the Patriots and the Giants really got to see
- 23:51Speaker 1: some things and you know, like as we all probably are, right,
- 23:55Speaker 1: as we get older, we get the best version of ourselves.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So it's kind of kind of a fun time to
- 23:58Speaker 1: be a head coach again. What is it like when
- 24:01Speaker 1: you go and you're an assistant with an NFL team,
- 24:04Speaker 1: or you're a consultant or whatever role that you're having
- 24:06Speaker 1: because a lot of different coaches do a lot of
- 24:08Speaker 1: different things, and obviously you're coaching with the NFL squads there.
- 24:10Speaker 1: When you go in, the level is just it's like
- 24:13Speaker 1: all your best players, but every one of your best players,
- 24:15Speaker 1: because it's all non stop super athletes. Does it take
- 24:18Speaker 1: a second to adjust how fast and big they are?
- 24:20Speaker 1: You know, Bobby, It's kind of funny. So you know,
- 24:23Speaker 1: when I went to New England, we had quite a
- 24:25Speaker 1: few Arkansas guys right in the d line room. There
- 24:27Speaker 1: was Trey Flowers, there was Dietrich Wise. We had a
- 24:31Speaker 1: couple other guys that I had at Wisconsin were there
- 24:33Speaker 1: with me. And I remember literally literally the first time
- 24:37Speaker 1: we were going to be on the grass, like first coaches,
- 24:39Speaker 1: you you talk about when you get on the grass
- 24:41Speaker 1: right for the practice the first time. And I remember
- 24:44Speaker 1: pulling into the parking out that day. It was like
- 24:46Speaker 1: a little bit four or five and Soun wasn't alan
- 24:49Speaker 1: or anything, and I ran into good Belichick. He pulled
- 24:52Speaker 1: it in at the same time and I can't wait
- 24:54Speaker 1: to get on the grass today, and he goes, yeah,
- 24:55Speaker 1: you're gonna love it. You know, it was basically just
- 24:58Speaker 1: a It was an OTA, which is really kind of
- 25:00Speaker 1: like basic skills, drills, fundamentals, no footballs or anything, just
- 25:04Speaker 1: kind of working with the players. And I remember going
- 25:07Speaker 1: into the locker room afterwards after practice and I sat
- 25:10Speaker 1: down and I'm like, Jesus, these guys are good, right,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and they all started laughing, And I thought about it. Right,
- 25:16Speaker 1: Like in college, you'll have as a position group or
- 25:20Speaker 1: even as a head coach, you have some really good
- 25:22Speaker 1: players that kind of stand out. You know that you're like, Okay,
- 25:25Speaker 1: that guy, that guy's gonna be pretty good. That guy's
- 25:27Speaker 1: gonna be an NFL player, this guy is an NFL player.
- 25:30Speaker 1: And then you get to that level there and you
- 25:33Speaker 1: realize you're working with the elite of the elite, right,
- 25:35Speaker 1: every drill you did, every kid from the first kid
- 25:38Speaker 1: to the last kid is just at a different level
- 25:40Speaker 1: of play. And that that's probably the game changer that
- 25:44Speaker 1: really makes a statement, is just how good those players
- 25:47Speaker 1: really are. You're dealing with the best of the best.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Does that give you a new perspective when you're back
- 25:52Speaker 1: at a Power five school and a major conference obviously,
- 25:55Speaker 1: and now that you've worked with the NFL players and
- 25:58Speaker 1: adult men that it helps you differentiate like who can
- 26:02Speaker 1: really make it at the next level or what they
- 26:04Speaker 1: need to do to make it at the next level.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It does to a certain level of certain content, but
- 26:10Speaker 1: it also probably makes you appreciate how much growth a
- 26:13Speaker 1: kid can make, right, Like everybody has a certain level
- 26:15Speaker 1: of talent, everybody has a certain level of gifts. But
- 26:18Speaker 1: it's how you can kind of give those guys the
- 26:20Speaker 1: tools to play at a higher level. And you know
- 26:23Speaker 1: it kind of when I was walking into building, I'd
- 26:25Speaker 1: asked a friend of mine that had coached at both
- 26:27Speaker 1: levels and said, what's the number one thing you can
- 26:29Speaker 1: give me, you know? And he said, literally, it doesn't
- 26:32Speaker 1: matter college, high school, pro. If you can give players
- 26:36Speaker 1: something that he can feel he can improve his game
- 26:39Speaker 1: to a different level, play at a different place than
- 26:42Speaker 1: he'd played the day before, they're gonna love you forever.
- 26:44Speaker 1: And that's that's very, very true. The only difference in
- 26:47Speaker 1: college are trying to get playing time, and there is
- 26:49Speaker 1: the nil world now as we know it. But in
- 26:51Speaker 1: the NFL, if you can make them that much better
- 26:53Speaker 1: so they can play one more year longer or get
- 26:55Speaker 1: one more bigger contract or do something that they can
- 26:58Speaker 1: provide for their family. That's that's worth it's weight in gold.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Do you have a kid that you think of now
- 27:04Speaker 1: when you just think of development and they came in
- 27:06Speaker 1: maybe red shirted even and by the time they left
- 27:09Speaker 1: their junior or senior year, you actually watched and took
- 27:12Speaker 1: part in so much development that you were so proud
- 27:15Speaker 1: of them. But again you could use them as an
- 27:17Speaker 1: example of somebody who you know, maybe it was a
- 27:19Speaker 1: two or three star kid, and then by the time
- 27:21Speaker 1: they left like they were thriving in the NFL. You know,
- 27:24Speaker 1: I so literally when I walked on and walked into
- 27:27Speaker 1: the job at Arkansas, I put a little presentation together
- 27:31Speaker 1: and I showed them three players. I showed them Joe Thomas,
- 27:35Speaker 1: J J. Watton, Russell Wilson. And the reason I did
- 27:38Speaker 1: that is I at the time they were one of
- 27:39Speaker 1: the three hottest NFL players, right and they were their jerseys.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I looked at NFL dot Com and the three bestselling
- 27:46Speaker 1: jerseys where those three of those guys were in the
- 27:49Speaker 1: top ten. And I showed that to my Arkansas crew
- 27:51Speaker 1: because I said, hey, right now, sitting in this audience,
- 27:54Speaker 1: sitting in this team meeting room. The next Joe Thomas, J. J. Watton,
- 27:58Speaker 1: Russell Wilson are here right like, I promise you they're
- 28:01Speaker 1: going to either be here, colonel, or they're coming in
- 28:03Speaker 1: the room shortly. And then when I came here to Illinois,
- 28:06Speaker 1: I showed them those three guys again. But I also
- 28:09Speaker 1: showed them then, you know, Trey Flowers, Frank right now
- 28:13Speaker 1: on Hunter Henry, and you know, you know, I took
- 28:17Speaker 1: Trey Flowers, who had signed a contract for ninety million
- 28:20Speaker 1: dollars right I had taken Hunter Henry, who became the
- 28:23Speaker 1: first tight end in the draft and was now one
- 28:24Speaker 1: of the highest plate tight ends in the NFL. And
- 28:26Speaker 1: Frank right now, who we recruited out of high school
- 28:29Speaker 1: and developed. He was literally the highest plate center in
- 28:32Speaker 1: NFL history. And I told them, listen, when I took
- 28:34Speaker 1: over Arkansas, I showed them these Wisconsin, I'm taking over Illinois,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and I'm showing you the last two places I've been.
- 28:40Speaker 1: And I just know in this room, these players already
- 28:44Speaker 1: are sitting. We just have to discover, develop and build them.
- 28:47Speaker 1: And then now the things are coming to truth here
- 28:50Speaker 1: right like I have a corner that you know at
- 28:53Speaker 1: the time when I came in the room, he had
- 28:54Speaker 1: started five games as a college football player, and he
- 28:57Speaker 1: may go into this year's draft, is one of the
- 28:59Speaker 1: top time ten fifteen picks in the NFL draft. His
- 29:02Speaker 1: life's going to change overnight. And that's when you begin
- 29:05Speaker 1: to see those things take place, you know, speaking of
- 29:08Speaker 1: Devin Watherspoon, which who you're referring to there, Like what
- 29:11Speaker 1: makes him because I was looking at some boards. I mean,
- 29:13Speaker 1: he's the top rated corner on a lot of these
- 29:16Speaker 1: draft boards. Obviously you can run. He's an athlete, but
- 29:19Speaker 1: what makes him special where these teams go like, that's
- 29:21Speaker 1: the guy we need. You know what, Bobby, I think
- 29:25Speaker 1: it it parallels a lot with your story. It parallels
- 29:28Speaker 1: a lot with my story. You know. I think when
- 29:32Speaker 1: kids start with little and achieve the things at the
- 29:36Speaker 1: highest level that they can, they can realize the benefits
- 29:38Speaker 1: of that come back tenfold. Right, And it doesn't matter
- 29:41Speaker 1: your profession. Obviously you've taken an arena and turned it
- 29:45Speaker 1: into something that you know. I go back all the time.
- 29:48Speaker 1: I talk about a quote what I got when I
- 29:50Speaker 1: was early on in coaching, where Confucius says, to the
- 29:53Speaker 1: job you love, you will never work a day in
- 29:54Speaker 1: your life. Right, and I've been coaching thirty years. I
- 29:57Speaker 1: don't know if we're today yet, right. I know you
- 29:59Speaker 1: have parlated into a business and an opportunity that has
- 30:02Speaker 1: been financially rewarding for you, but also the way you've
- 30:04Speaker 1: give him back. And I think Devin Whitnisman's the same thing.
- 30:07Speaker 1: He came in as an unrated He wasn't a one star,
- 30:10Speaker 1: a two star, a three star. He was not rated
- 30:12Speaker 1: zero stars. And he may be the first corner taking
- 30:15Speaker 1: in the draft, if not definitely one of the best,
- 30:17Speaker 1: one of the first corners in the draft and beat
- 30:21Speaker 1: out all those five stars, four stars, three stars that
- 30:23Speaker 1: he was ranked behind of coming out. And he's just
- 30:26Speaker 1: he's taking that personal challenge of what people said he
- 30:30Speaker 1: couldn't do and turn it into what he could do.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And that's probably what sets him apart now. He's incredibly gifted.
- 30:36Speaker 1: He's explosive, he's range, he's very athletic, he's got great
- 30:39Speaker 1: football like you, and awareness. He's got some intangibles that
- 30:41Speaker 1: are hard to find. But I think it's that hunger
- 30:44Speaker 1: to be successful that has really setting him apart. You guys,
- 30:47Speaker 1: defense was awesome last year. But when you lose a
- 30:49Speaker 1: guy like that, obviously you're losing something that do you
- 30:51Speaker 1: try to find a guy that tries to replace that.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Was he able to like mentor someone or is it
- 30:57Speaker 1: kind of an effort by committee? Yeah? You know, he's
- 31:00Speaker 1: very close with probably our best returning corner a Tas Nicholson.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Both of them Florida guys. They got back connection. They
- 31:06Speaker 1: hung out all the time when they're here. And I
- 31:08Speaker 1: know Spoon recently got a Nike contract also, and I
- 31:12Speaker 1: saw a tremendous spike in Tazar's Nike apparel as well,
- 31:16Speaker 1: So I think the mentoring has continued, but also with
- 31:18Speaker 1: their younger players. And then one of the things I
- 31:21Speaker 1: really start to preach on the back half of the
- 31:22Speaker 1: season and then especially when we go into the last
- 31:26Speaker 1: month of the season, your life as a college football
- 31:29Speaker 1: player when you leave this building is going to change forever. Right.
- 31:31Speaker 1: You have literally the opportunity to have breakfast, lunch, and
- 31:35Speaker 1: dinner with guys on a daily basis that after you
- 31:38Speaker 1: leave the program, you may never see him except for
- 31:41Speaker 1: once a year. Sometimes you may not see him for
- 31:42Speaker 1: years or ten years. Right, And we always say in
- 31:46Speaker 1: college football, you know there's one thing. Seniors graduate, but
- 31:50Speaker 1: a tradition never does right. And I've asked Devin Witherspoon
- 31:53Speaker 1: as well as you know, all of our other seniors
- 31:56Speaker 1: that are moving on, make sure you pass the things
- 31:58Speaker 1: that you've been great at onto the players that are returning,
- 32:02Speaker 1: and more importantly, pass along to the players the things
- 32:05Speaker 1: you failed at and what you wish you could have
- 32:07Speaker 1: changed you're walking out the door because those other things
- 32:09Speaker 1: that will really matter. So next year, defensively, are we
- 32:12Speaker 1: looking at a squad again? Are we looking at early on?
- 32:16Speaker 1: We're gonna figure it out until we get a squad, Like,
- 32:17Speaker 1: are we starting strong? I think we're going to be.
- 32:21Speaker 1: It's gonna be a squad. It looks very similar to
- 32:23Speaker 1: what we did a year ago. It'll be different faces.
- 32:25Speaker 1: But one of the advantages we had is I have
- 32:28Speaker 1: a couple of players returning up front that literally probably
- 32:32Speaker 1: are going to be some of the best in college football.
- 32:34Speaker 1: And on the back end, because you know, the Spoon
- 32:37Speaker 1: didn't play in a bowl game, I also had another
- 32:39Speaker 1: safety that or another safety that didn't play in the
- 32:41Speaker 1: bowl game. We did have some guys get injured at
- 32:43Speaker 1: the end of the year last year, especially in the
- 32:45Speaker 1: back end. So a lot of our younger players got
- 32:48Speaker 1: valuable experience in the back half of the season last
- 32:50Speaker 1: year and are that much more ahead of the curve.
- 32:52Speaker 1: So of course the standard is going to be the same,
- 32:55Speaker 1: the faces are going to change. My defensive coordinator got
- 32:57Speaker 1: the head coaching job at Purdue and duleys. They've done
- 33:00Speaker 1: a heck of a job, and I promoted from within.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Now I have on defense shows how old I'm getting, right.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I have three former players that now coach for me
- 33:08Speaker 1: and on the defense side of the ball, who were
- 33:09Speaker 1: outstanding football coaches who I met when they were sixteen,
- 33:12Speaker 1: seventeen years old, and now they're in their mid thirties, right,
- 33:15Speaker 1: and I've really truly seen them development and the young
- 33:18Speaker 1: man that can lead others and hopefully take them to
- 33:20Speaker 1: a high level of success. The few times I've been
- 33:23Speaker 1: to another country, and I didn't go anywhere at all
- 33:25Speaker 1: early in my life. But then once I started to
- 33:27Speaker 1: have some success, I would travel a little bit and
- 33:28Speaker 1: I would realize when I go to places, I liked it,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but I wasn't super comfortable. I wouldn't say a whole
- 33:33Speaker 1: lot because I didn't want to mess up or I
- 33:34Speaker 1: didn't want to insult the culture that was there. And
- 33:37Speaker 1: my question is that, let's say you go into a
- 33:38Speaker 1: new program. It can be Arkansas, I could be Illinois.
- 33:40Speaker 1: How quiet are you at first because you don't know
- 33:44Speaker 1: all the little idiosyncracies about like the holocaus gotta be
- 33:46Speaker 1: weird for people at Arkansas that've never done it. Or
- 33:48Speaker 1: you go to Illinois and you don't know the history
- 33:49Speaker 1: of it really because maybe you got hired a week ago,
- 33:52Speaker 1: so you don't want to say anything wrong. How long
- 33:54Speaker 1: does it really take you before you understand like what
- 33:57Speaker 1: Illinois is and what all the fans love out the program?
- 34:01Speaker 1: You know, A great question, Bobby, I think, first off, right,
- 34:05Speaker 1: like I did make an opening statement, I went and
- 34:07Speaker 1: watch these guys played their last regular season game. I
- 34:09Speaker 1: had just gotten a job. I was with the Giants.
- 34:12Speaker 1: The AD picked me up. I signed my contract with
- 34:14Speaker 1: FO to Penn State and watched the guys play at
- 34:16Speaker 1: Penn State during COVID. It was really weird empty stadium.
- 34:20Speaker 1: But I flew back the next day and I met
- 34:21Speaker 1: with that entire team in a team meeting room, and
- 34:24Speaker 1: I remember looking out a bunch of nameless, faceless kids.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I hadn't known, and from that day forward they were
- 34:30Speaker 1: a part of our family. And I literally said at
- 34:31Speaker 1: the time, listen, the thing I know is I'm the
- 34:34Speaker 1: newest family member to walk in this room. But from
- 34:36Speaker 1: this point forward, we're all family, right, and I'm going
- 34:38Speaker 1: to accept you onconditionally. We may be together a year
- 34:41Speaker 1: from mount we may not. Right, that's going to be
- 34:42Speaker 1: in what we do from this day forward, but let's
- 34:45Speaker 1: start off on the same page. And that was kind
- 34:47Speaker 1: of a moment that a lot of our kids reference
- 34:49Speaker 1: back to. I would say the introduction press conference in Illinois.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I knew from playing against Illinois they had a chant
- 34:58Speaker 1: that went, I lll I and I right in at
- 35:00Speaker 1: night chant. I watched a couple of videos. I had
- 35:03Speaker 1: that one down pretty clean. It was a lot easier
- 35:04Speaker 1: than the alcohol thing doing so it was a little
- 35:09Speaker 1: bit easier transition from Illinois. But it's a great point.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I commonly referenced and hopefully gave credit to the coaching
- 35:16Speaker 1: staff that was here, Lovey Smith. I gave credit to
- 35:19Speaker 1: you know, like overly in the first you know, several months,
- 35:23Speaker 1: just being very appreciative of the players you brought in
- 35:25Speaker 1: the building. If there was ever anything negative. I just
- 35:28Speaker 1: always spoke about what we're doing forward, not what's been
- 35:30Speaker 1: done in the past, and so far as worked out
- 35:33Speaker 1: pretty well. You know, always feel like great people do
- 35:35Speaker 1: fundamentally great things, and sometimes you don't understand what they're
- 35:37Speaker 1: doing or why they're so great until you get really
- 35:40Speaker 1: down on the weeds and you have two coaches either
- 35:42Speaker 1: you played for or you worked under, being Hayden Fry
- 35:46Speaker 1: who you played for, then Barry Alvarez who you worked under.
- 35:49Speaker 1: What is a similarity between those two great football coaches.
- 35:53Speaker 1: You know, it's been amazing, Bobby, I've actually worked under.
- 35:57Speaker 1: You know, four guys that are either currently in a
- 36:00Speaker 1: Hall of Famer will be the first. Me and Hayden Fry.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I played for him, I coach for him. The day
- 36:04Speaker 1: he retired, he gave me a note card that I
- 36:06Speaker 1: still carry my daily binder that says, you're going to
- 36:10Speaker 1: be a great head coach, just make sure you're prepared
- 36:12Speaker 1: when you get there, right. And he saw that in
- 36:15Speaker 1: me at an early age, ten to twelve years before
- 36:17Speaker 1: whatever happened. And you know what I took from him
- 36:20Speaker 1: was he was a player's coach and motivated me very well.
- 36:23Speaker 1: He handled me as well on the football field. So
- 36:26Speaker 1: I had some emotional things. I lost a sister when
- 36:28Speaker 1: I was in college. I had a mom diagnosed with
- 36:30Speaker 1: breast cancer. I had some personal adversity, had a torn
- 36:33Speaker 1: acl like. He helped me in those moments just as
- 36:36Speaker 1: well as he had me in the championship moments right
- 36:38Speaker 1: when we won games. Unfortunately for me, I was an
- 36:41Speaker 1: unbelievable experience then to play a coach. And then I
- 36:44Speaker 1: worked for Bill Sneyder at Kansas State, who ironically worked
- 36:47Speaker 1: under Hayden Fry, right, so a lot of the same continuations.
- 36:51Speaker 1: And then I jumped into coach Albarez and worked under
- 36:54Speaker 1: him as a decordinate and then worked as his head coach,
- 36:56Speaker 1: as a as a a d And what commonly happened
- 37:01Speaker 1: with those three coaches was all of the things that
- 37:04Speaker 1: that had Hayden Fry had established. I had saw bits
- 37:07Speaker 1: and pieces. Hayden was a great, great motivator, great strategist.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Bill Snyder was an unbelievable work ethic, leaving no stone
- 37:13Speaker 1: unturned and doing it over again. And then what I
- 37:16Speaker 1: learned from Barry Alvarez really truly was just the complete picture.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Right he walked into the room everybody knew he was
- 37:22Speaker 1: a head coach at tremendous Barbarado. He had confidence. One
- 37:26Speaker 1: of the sayings we say all the time in this
- 37:27Speaker 1: business is volume reflects confidence, right, And if you don't
- 37:30Speaker 1: speak with volume, it's usually because you're not very confident.
- 37:33Speaker 1: And Barry definitely gave me that. And I had a
- 37:35Speaker 1: great fortune of going and working under Bill Belichick, who
- 37:38Speaker 1: might be one of the best that's ever coached the game,
- 37:41Speaker 1: for two years and learning from him as well. And
- 37:43Speaker 1: I had to stop with Kirk Farens even though I
- 37:45Speaker 1: was at Iowa. So I've literally been around five Hall
- 37:48Speaker 1: of Fame coaches that have been the best and the
- 37:49Speaker 1: best in their business. I've only got three more questions
- 37:52Speaker 1: for you, and I'll let you get back to whatever.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I'm sure you're doing something you're recruiting or coaching, or
- 37:56Speaker 1: watching a show on Netflix sekle in your office. That's
- 37:58Speaker 1: probably what I would do, is like busy all day.
- 38:01Speaker 1: But whenever I look at like your schedule all year long,
- 38:06Speaker 1: there's really not three months of an off time, you know,
- 38:09Speaker 1: So what are you doing when you do get a
- 38:12Speaker 1: day or a couple of days, Like what do you
- 38:14Speaker 1: play golf? Do you play video games? What is it?
- 38:16Speaker 1: Because a little bit you gotta have something. Yeah, you know,
- 38:21Speaker 1: obviously since last time we've talked to Bobby, you're a
- 38:23Speaker 1: married man now. You know. When I first got to Arkansas,
- 38:26Speaker 1: Jen and I had been married for one year, but
- 38:27Speaker 1: we had our first child when we're at Arkansas. So
- 38:30Speaker 1: now I have a second child, Riella Rexley, five and
- 38:33Speaker 1: four respectively, that you know, just have tremendously changed my outlook,
- 38:38Speaker 1: my perspective, my daily walk in life. Right. So that's
- 38:41Speaker 1: that's been a you know, So my spring break back
- 38:44Speaker 1: in the day, I used to go to a certain
- 38:45Speaker 1: part of the world and fish a fish that I
- 38:47Speaker 1: never caught before, right, whether it be a marlin or
- 38:49Speaker 1: a group or a snapper or a red snapper or whatever.
- 38:53Speaker 1: It was like it was just different. Now my spring
- 38:56Speaker 1: break this past week, this past month was in Disney
- 38:59Speaker 1: getting you know, may keep any and goofy. Right, So
- 39:02Speaker 1: that's changed a lot. Because I have small kids, I
- 39:05Speaker 1: really don't do much golf. We build a beautiful home
- 39:07Speaker 1: here on the edge of town, and I think COVID
- 39:09Speaker 1: taught us a lot, right. So in my home I
- 39:11Speaker 1: have an office now outside and I have a little cabanna,
- 39:15Speaker 1: and then I have an office attached to it that
- 39:17Speaker 1: really allows me to do a lot of functional work
- 39:19Speaker 1: at home. So even though I may not come into
- 39:22Speaker 1: the office all day, I can just put a three
- 39:24Speaker 1: or four hour work day in in my odysseas. And
- 39:26Speaker 1: so we do get about six weeks out of the
- 39:29Speaker 1: year that we can kind of relax a little bit.
- 39:32Speaker 1: As a hand coach, I don't ever get to totally relax,
- 39:34Speaker 1: but there are moments that you've got to take full
- 39:35Speaker 1: advantage of. And if I can steal a moment where
- 39:38Speaker 1: I can, you know, drop my girls off for school,
- 39:40Speaker 1: if I can go to a school function, a parent
- 39:43Speaker 1: teacher conference for a half hour and get away for
- 39:45Speaker 1: a little bit from the office, I've really tried to
- 39:47Speaker 1: capitalize on and keep a balance that hopefully makes this
- 39:50Speaker 1: thing great. Two questions left. So TCU and Georgia playing
- 39:53Speaker 1: the championship game, and you know they had made some
- 39:55Speaker 1: shirts as a TCU national champion, just like in the
- 39:57Speaker 1: NBA in the finals, they have shirts to say whoever
- 40:00Speaker 1: lose his national Champion and they send those shirts off
- 40:02Speaker 1: or they burn them. When you leave a school and
- 40:03Speaker 1: you've got so much gear if that's what's cominsent or Arkansas?
- 40:06Speaker 1: Where does all that go? Usually first, sometimes I just
- 40:10Speaker 1: returned to the equipment room to players. I do keep it,
- 40:14Speaker 1: you know, like, um, I think it's very important. Maybe
- 40:17Speaker 1: you don't wear it out in public, but but you know,
- 40:20Speaker 1: because obviously I'm Illinois. Why anything I wear now is Illinois?
- 40:23Speaker 1: Even you know, come from the Patriots and Giants. I
- 40:26Speaker 1: really didn't wear that equipment much. It's just, you know,
- 40:29Speaker 1: I've never met a successful man who wasn't proud of
- 40:31Speaker 1: where he came from. Right. I was reading the biles
- 40:33Speaker 1: of the guys that are on this show with you,
- 40:34Speaker 1: and they got ties to you and the Arkansas and
- 40:37Speaker 1: to football and the things that you love, obviously with music.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I think there hasn't been a successful man who isn't
- 40:44Speaker 1: defined more by his moments of adversity than he is
- 40:47Speaker 1: by his moments of success. Right. I mean, I know
- 40:49Speaker 1: we learned things when we do well, But I learned
- 40:51Speaker 1: a lot through some adversity, you know, of every step
- 40:53Speaker 1: of my and walk in my life. And because of that,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I kind of keep onto those memories because because they're
- 40:58Speaker 1: they're the things that making who you are today. Our
- 41:01Speaker 1: final question is this. Let's say someone's coming to a
- 41:04Speaker 1: game and it's let me just insert two teams here.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Let's say it's Illinois and it's Iowa, and like, I'm
- 41:10Speaker 1: gonna go big game, but I'm a fan of Fresno
- 41:13Speaker 1: State and they decided to wear a Fresno State jersey
- 41:15Speaker 1: to an Illinois Iowa game. Isn't that the dumbest thing
- 41:18Speaker 1: you ever heard? There's no need to wear another team.
- 41:20Speaker 1: That is a pet peeve of mine. When you are
- 41:22Speaker 1: a team that doesn't even matter to a game of
- 41:24Speaker 1: two others, just to prove that this is my team,
- 41:27Speaker 1: you also hate that, right, Coach? I think neutrality is
- 41:30Speaker 1: always good, right, Like, if you're not going to wear
- 41:32Speaker 1: the orange and blue of Illinois and the black buld
- 41:34Speaker 1: of Iowa, neutral is good. It was funny I played
- 41:36Speaker 1: at Iowa, right, and now coach of Illinois. So I
- 41:40Speaker 1: have a group of college buddies, about five guys that
- 41:42Speaker 1: come every year to a game, you know, whether I
- 41:44Speaker 1: was at Iowa, whether I was at Kansas State, whether
- 41:46Speaker 1: at Wisconsin, Arkansas Patriots Giants, And of course this year
- 41:50Speaker 1: we're getting ready to play and they're like, oh yeah,
- 41:51Speaker 1: we're coming to the Iowa Illinois game. I'm like, come on, man,
- 41:55Speaker 1: like what are you doing right? And the consensus of
- 41:58Speaker 1: that group was obviously they love me and love it
- 42:01Speaker 1: about me, but they couldn't put on the orange of blue,
- 42:03Speaker 1: and I told him they can't wear a black and gold.
- 42:05Speaker 1: So there was a lot of neutral colors in that
- 42:08Speaker 1: in that tailgate before and after. So see that's what
- 42:10Speaker 1: you did. Neutrality is often good. Just be neutral. You
- 42:12Speaker 1: don't have to show off the team that's not even there.
- 42:15Speaker 1: That burns me up. Coach. I'm rooting for you. I
- 42:17Speaker 1: was watching you last year. You know, I love you.
- 42:19Speaker 1: A big year ahead for you, guys. I don't know
- 42:22Speaker 1: what else to say except you know, I love that you.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I love the family with the two ls. I think
- 42:26Speaker 1: that's a really cool whoever did that in your marketing?
- 42:28Speaker 1: That's cool. I like that. And mostly I hater on
- 42:30Speaker 1: all that stuff because I'm like that was lame, but
- 42:32Speaker 1: that one's really cool. Coach. We always say that we
- 42:34Speaker 1: just got a little more love in our family, right,
- 42:36Speaker 1: That's why we put an extra el in there. But Bobby,
- 42:38Speaker 1: big fan of yours. Man, Let's do it all the
- 42:40Speaker 1: time and continue success. Congratulations on your marriage and we'll
- 42:44Speaker 1: pay gulll. Thanks coach, see us Soonboddy. Thank you to
- 42:50Speaker 1: coach Bielema love it. Appreciate him coming on. I'm already
- 42:54Speaker 1: ready for football, college football. I know, let's go, NFL,
- 42:56Speaker 1: let's go. I'm also into the portal right now too,
- 43:00Speaker 1: so I'm still in college basketball as well. And I
- 43:01Speaker 1: also see in which of our guys at Arkansas specifically
- 43:04Speaker 1: are going to the NBA or so far we've bought
- 43:08Speaker 1: a couple, but nobody that we didn't expect so far.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I see Davis? Is it Davis returnaming? So Devo Davis
- 43:14Speaker 1: is not portaling? He yes, he's going to test the
- 43:16Speaker 1: waters of the NBA draft, but leave his eligibility open,
- 43:20Speaker 1: so hopefully he comes back, or hopefully he gets a
- 43:22Speaker 1: great grade and goes plays in the NBA. Ope, it's
- 43:24Speaker 1: one of the two. Either gets a great grade, not
- 43:26Speaker 1: a good grade, but a great grade, or he comes
- 43:27Speaker 1: back and plays another year. All eyes were on Augusta,
- 43:30Speaker 1: though Augusta Golf's first major. Join the action for a

- 44:25Speaker 1: for full to tells. All right, big news. First of all,
- 44:27Speaker 1: I'd like to break some news here. Jim Nance gave
- 44:29Speaker 1: me a cell phone number. What that's correct? I love
- 44:32Speaker 1: how you're acting like you don't know. I texted it
- 44:34Speaker 1: over yesterday Kevin. I was like, look what I got.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Jo got Jim Nance's cell phone number. So pretty excited
- 44:39Speaker 1: about that. I'm not gonna hit him up this week
- 44:40Speaker 1: he's working the Masters, although I was going to and
- 44:42Speaker 1: I forgot he's doing the Masters. Yeah, hit him up
- 44:44Speaker 1: on Saturday. He's probably free. Yeah, Sunday about four pm.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Should call him to get his voicemail and see what
- 44:49Speaker 1: that sounds like, Like, Hey Jim, what's up buddy? Um
- 44:52Speaker 1: So no, because I've been ready to answer, honest to God,
- 44:55Speaker 1: and I don't want him to have to answer because
- 44:57Speaker 1: I'd be embarrassed. But I was gonna try to get
- 44:58Speaker 1: Jim Nas on the show and so, and I've met Jim,
- 45:02Speaker 1: let's call him Jim. I met Jim a couple of
- 45:04Speaker 1: times when we were in Pebble Beach earlier this year,
- 45:06Speaker 1: and so I had one of the guys that I
- 45:09Speaker 1: work with, I like on my management team. I's like, hey,
- 45:11Speaker 1: can you try to find Jim Nance's team and reach
- 45:14Speaker 1: out and see if he'll do a show. And I
- 45:16Speaker 1: got a message back going, hey, Jim just hays call
- 45:17Speaker 1: a cell. No big deal, no big deal and the
- 45:21Speaker 1: So now I'm probably never gonna call it, but after
- 45:24Speaker 1: the Masters we will go and try to get Jim
- 45:27Speaker 1: nance on, which is pretty cool or in he lives here,
- 45:30Speaker 1: but if he came in, does it? Oh yeah really
- 45:33Speaker 1: yeah one of his many houses. I'm sure No, I
- 45:35Speaker 1: think his main residence is now here. He's moving here
- 45:37Speaker 1: like the end end wow, because he's coming off of
- 45:41Speaker 1: college basketball. So he's go do it. That was his
- 45:43Speaker 1: final final four and is he done doing He's still
- 45:47Speaker 1: going to do NFL on the Masters. I think those
- 45:48Speaker 1: were his last two things. Yeah. I think I heard
- 45:50Speaker 1: him to say once he's going till twenty thirty five.
- 45:53Speaker 1: I believe on the Masters because it's their one hundred something,
- 45:58Speaker 1: twenty thirty five that's long. I believe. Yeah, yea, so
- 46:01Speaker 1: he still got some time. Jim Nancy is the man.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I feel like you'd read his text in his voice. Hello, Bobby.
- 46:07Speaker 1: It's so early in the Masters as we're doing this
- 46:10Speaker 1: part of the show that it doesn't matter except for
- 46:13Speaker 1: Tiger is plus two after eight when we're reading this,
- 46:17Speaker 1: but it was all basically from one three he three
- 46:20Speaker 1: putted I think on like seven or eight. I'm just
- 46:23Speaker 1: reading this. We just finished one part of the show.
- 46:24Speaker 1: We're going to another, but he's the the featured pair,
- 46:30Speaker 1: him and gen Ram and so I'm trying to watch.
- 46:33Speaker 1: But I was trying to do the show. But I'm
- 46:35Speaker 1: rooting for Tiger. He looks like he's walking pretty good.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I know it's only day one. I don't want to
- 46:38Speaker 1: get too excited, but right now, Victor Hoveland, I don't
- 46:44Speaker 1: even know who that is. I'll be honest with you.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Do you know Victor Hoblin? I've heard the name. Shane
- 46:48Speaker 1: Lowry's second, Patrick Creed is that third? Patrick Greed makes
- 46:50Speaker 1: me laugh because it seems like he's always cheating at something.
- 46:53Speaker 1: There's always the video of him cheating. Oh yeah, Adam
- 46:55Speaker 1: Scott of four, Cameron Young at five, But that doesn't
- 46:58Speaker 1: matter because it is so early. Speed hasn't even teat
- 47:00Speaker 1: off yet. Yeah, did they ever put our parlay up? Mike?
- 47:03Speaker 1: You know they did not? Oh, how are people gonna
- 47:06Speaker 1: bet it? If we got to make it simpler than
- 47:09Speaker 1: if they're not gonna put it up because I would
- 47:11Speaker 1: never track all that crap down that we said, Yeah,
- 47:13Speaker 1: you know, one to top ten, one, top twenty one,
- 47:15Speaker 1: top thirty one, top forty. Oh that's stinks. Okay, all right, whatever.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Let me roll through some headlines. Ex. Cardinals VP Terry
- 47:22Speaker 1: McDonagh accuses owner of cheating. Now it's not talking about
- 47:25Speaker 1: the Baseball Cardinals. We're talking about the Arizona Cardinals. Kevin,
- 47:27Speaker 1: what do you know about this story? It seems like
- 47:30Speaker 1: McDonagh just came out and said that when come got
- 47:33Speaker 1: suspended a few years ago, he got a duy. He's
- 47:35Speaker 1: spend it for five games, I believe, and they weren't
- 47:37Speaker 1: allowed to talk to him at all, but the owner
- 47:39Speaker 1: gave them burner cell phones and said, no, you guys
- 47:42Speaker 1: need to still talk to him. Is that even cheating?
- 47:44Speaker 1: I mean, yes, it's it's I would say that's that's
- 47:49Speaker 1: I don't know about cheating, because cheating to me, feels
- 47:51Speaker 1: like something you're doing in order to like win the game, right,
- 47:55Speaker 1: Like they should just be fined by the league for
- 47:58Speaker 1: not following suspension protocol. That doesn't feel like cheating. If
- 48:01Speaker 1: the headline's cheating, it's like no offense, Kevin to you,
- 48:05Speaker 1: but like deflating footballs, or it's recording other teams practices,
- 48:10Speaker 1: and why are they all Patriots. I'm going to all
- 48:12Speaker 1: these cheating things that ain't cheating, but it is funny,
- 48:16Speaker 1: and that crafts probably happening all the time. Yeah, Joel
- 48:18Speaker 1: Embid leads seventy six ers past by the way, up,
- 48:21Speaker 1: I was watching some of this game. Yeah, I mean
- 48:25Speaker 1: Embiid crushed. He scored what he's order fifty fifty two points,
- 48:30Speaker 1: went twenty for twenty five as Philadelphia one, and I
- 48:34Speaker 1: saw the clip two afterwards. I didn't stick around and
- 48:36Speaker 1: watch the post conference, but I saw the clip where
- 48:40Speaker 1: he's like, it's over. The MVP race is over. I mean,
- 48:43Speaker 1: I don't know that it's over, but Imbid now is
- 48:46Speaker 1: at minus two thirty in is your MVP favorite, where
- 48:50Speaker 1: Yoki's just two forty and Jannie is plus six hundred.
- 48:54Speaker 1: So if you believe the odds, then it's over. But
- 48:59Speaker 1: that'd being said. The carol of Panthers to draft the CJ.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Stroud at number one wasn't like minus four fifty for
- 49:06Speaker 1: a long time. While I'm doing this next story, we
- 49:09Speaker 1: could look at that because sometimes these odds flipped like crazy,
- 49:12Speaker 1: and I thought Dank CJ Strout like minus four fifty
- 49:15Speaker 1: the heavy favorite for the Panthers to draft him at
- 49:17Speaker 1: number one. I was like, somebody must know something. But
- 49:19Speaker 1: then I saw the line chart to change a little bit,
- 49:22Speaker 1: So then somebody must not have known what somebody thought
- 49:24Speaker 1: they knew. But let's look at the line now. But yeah,
- 49:27Speaker 1: MBID seventy six ers went again the first four days
- 49:31Speaker 1: of Major League Baseball and the new rules, and here
- 49:34Speaker 1: they are by the numbers this year versus last year.
- 49:36Speaker 1: So I've been through about fifty games both this year
- 49:38Speaker 1: and last year. Average game time last year three hours
- 49:42Speaker 1: and nine minutes, this year two hours and thirty eight minutes.
- 49:46Speaker 1: That's pretty good as somebody who grew up loving baseball,
- 49:51Speaker 1: and I still love baseball, but I didn't love watching
- 49:53Speaker 1: games for that long. It was tough to watch a
- 49:55Speaker 1: three hour and fifteen minute game. Honestly, it is exciting
- 49:59Speaker 1: for me to hopefully be more excited about watching just
- 50:03Speaker 1: a random game, or at least more of it, if
- 50:06Speaker 1: you can only have an hour to watch the game exactly.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Batting average last year two thirty average this year two
- 50:13Speaker 1: forty five not only are they going faster, more hits,
- 50:17Speaker 1: more action, stolen bases. Last year twenty nine, this year
- 50:21Speaker 1: seventy wild action, action in action. We want action and
- 50:26Speaker 1: act boom boom boom io boom boom boom. Pitchclock violations
- 50:31Speaker 1: last year none because it didn't exist. This year forty,
- 50:34Speaker 1: which is not even one per game. Yeah, and with
- 50:38Speaker 1: all the new rules, you would think it'd be more
- 50:40Speaker 1: than that. But it's going great. I say we shot
- 50:42Speaker 1: clock it even quicker next year. Let's see how far
- 50:44Speaker 1: we can get it. Yeah, let's get it to fifteen
- 50:47Speaker 1: fifteen seconds. You have two pitchers back to back, they
- 50:49Speaker 1: rotate in switch it up. Let's try some new stuff, babe.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Let's see. When you think a major sporting event, you
- 50:57Speaker 1: expect there to be some high concession prices. And I
- 51:00Speaker 1: got the concessions from the Masters here, which I've been
- 51:02Speaker 1: to the Masters. I can tell you I couldn't believe
- 51:03Speaker 1: I cheap it was. You walk into the it's not
- 51:06Speaker 1: a tent, it's like a big shed thing. And they
- 51:10Speaker 1: have different places to get it. But they got this
- 51:11Speaker 1: huge place. It almost looks like a Bucky's. But it's
- 51:14Speaker 1: all the stuff from the Masters, all non alcoholic drinks
- 51:18Speaker 1: are two dollars, beers, five bucks, wine six bucks. Sandwiches
- 51:22Speaker 1: range from a dollar fifty eggs alum pimento cheese to
- 51:25Speaker 1: three dollars for barbecue pork three dollars for their high
- 51:29Speaker 1: end sandwich. Sign me Up. Breakfast ranges from a dollar
- 51:32Speaker 1: fifty to three bucks and has a blue ray, muffins,
- 51:35Speaker 1: fresh fruit, breakfast biscuits. So you go and you eat here.
- 51:40Speaker 1: That's the good thing. You can eat all you want. Also,
- 51:43Speaker 1: the good thing is if you have a chair, you
- 51:44Speaker 1: can run it out and put it wherever you want
- 51:46Speaker 1: as long as you get it there. You don't have
- 51:47Speaker 1: to sit in it. Just it's your chair. You can
- 51:48Speaker 1: go back to at any point, Okay, but it has
- 51:52Speaker 1: to be that that specific chair, like the master's chair.
- 51:54Speaker 1: You can't bring all these blue and green You have
- 51:56Speaker 1: your chair. You have one. You can run and sit
- 51:59Speaker 1: it wherever you want, and then you can leave it.
- 52:01Speaker 1: No one can take that spot in that chair. Yeah,
- 52:03Speaker 1: it's awesome. That's cool. Another cool thing was you actually,
- 52:10Speaker 1: when they hit the ball in certain places, you can
- 52:13Speaker 1: go to the ball, just not in the middle of
- 52:15Speaker 1: the fairway. But if they hit it to the side
- 52:16Speaker 1: and then they bring people and there I could get
- 52:18Speaker 1: back up, back up, but you're standing right there, which
- 52:20Speaker 1: is crazy the bad parts of you. It's hard to
- 52:22Speaker 1: see people if you're moving. It's it's a big golfer.
- 52:25Speaker 1: It's hard to get to them because there are people
- 52:27Speaker 1: have kind of been traveling with them the whole time,
- 52:29Speaker 1: and unless you have been, it's hard to keep up.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Or if you just like jump in the how you
- 52:32Speaker 1: cheat Sometimes you pass the cards that are getting off
- 52:34Speaker 1: the exit. You jump, get to the front, then you
- 52:36Speaker 1: get off. You can cheat a little bit, but people
- 52:38Speaker 1: kind of watch out for that there. You also can't
- 52:40Speaker 1: have your cell phone out. You can't have your cell
- 52:42Speaker 1: phone really at all out at all, no cell phones.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Watch today, see if anybody on the cell phone up.
- 52:47Speaker 1: I don't. I never knew that. They didn't let us
- 52:51Speaker 1: and I went with Roddick who was on the show
- 52:53Speaker 1: on Monday. We all went together and stayed in the
- 52:56Speaker 1: house name Drop is me, him, John Legend, and a
- 52:59Speaker 1: couple other friends of ours. Geez, yeah, it was pretty
- 53:03Speaker 1: awesome now that I think back is pretty awesome. It was.
- 53:05Speaker 1: It was awesome then, but now I don't even know
- 53:08Speaker 1: that I appreciated how freaking cool it was all in
- 53:13Speaker 1: as much as I do now. I did, but Andy
- 53:16Speaker 1: and I just used to roll all over the place
- 53:18Speaker 1: together and he was killing it and everything, so I
- 53:21Speaker 1: was just along for the ride. So we were doing
- 53:23Speaker 1: all kinds of crazy stuff. You guys hang out the
- 53:25Speaker 1: whole time there, like you're walking around the course, or
- 53:27Speaker 1: once you get in you kind of separate and do
- 53:28Speaker 1: your own thing. I think we probably stayed together. We
- 53:31Speaker 1: were betting on We were sitting on a green, I
- 53:34Speaker 1: remember which one of the back nine, and we didn't
- 53:38Speaker 1: like walking around hard to get that up to people,
- 53:41Speaker 1: so we just sat and we'd wait for players to
- 53:43Speaker 1: come through and we'd bet closest to the whole, me,
- 53:46Speaker 1: Andy and John. And then they got really competitive and
- 53:49Speaker 1: they started betting a little more. I was pretty broke
- 53:51Speaker 1: at the time, so I got out of that. Yeah,
- 53:53Speaker 1: and they just kept betting. It was just fun because
- 53:57Speaker 1: they would bet close and we too was and if
- 53:59Speaker 1: it was super close, you wouldn't know, so you would
- 54:01Speaker 1: just go whoever putted first was out okay, because you know,
- 54:05Speaker 1: a person that's out the most puts first, So if
- 54:07Speaker 1: it was like super close, you couldn't tell you would
- 54:09Speaker 1: just go okay, Well, I guess we had to wait too,
- 54:11Speaker 1: puts first, and that's who ended up losing. You just
- 54:13Speaker 1: didn't want your guy to get up on the ball,
- 54:15Speaker 1: were you, guys ever, like as they're walking up, Oh
- 54:17Speaker 1: he's gonna get close. Oh yeah for sure, Yeah, for sure.
- 54:20Speaker 1: And then we played ping pong in the house that
- 54:22Speaker 1: Andy rented, and he I just remember being so good
- 54:25Speaker 1: at ping pong, like Tom Hanks, Furst Gump good. But
- 54:30Speaker 1: there was nobody that could hit it back with him,
- 54:31Speaker 1: really honestly. I mean he's a tennis player, was still
- 54:34Speaker 1: playing professionally, so you expected to be just I think,
- 54:38Speaker 1: and I'm okay, I could probably score a couple of points,
- 54:41Speaker 1: but I remember just getting dominated by him and then
- 54:44Speaker 1: being like upset because he was also like super competitive
- 54:47Speaker 1: and obnoxious even though he was killing me. It's like, bro,
- 54:50Speaker 1: you don't have let me be competitive. He was just
- 54:52Speaker 1: he was just demolish me. Really Yeah again, I respect
- 54:55Speaker 1: that more now too, but I was like, you can't
- 54:56Speaker 1: only get a couple of points, right, But the matter
- 54:59Speaker 1: was awesome. I've only been once. It was that time,
- 55:01Speaker 1: never tried to go back. But now that I talk
- 55:04Speaker 1: about how fun it was. It would be cool. Ben,
- 55:06Speaker 1: one of my friends, Ben's out there now. He loves it.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Him and his dad go, that's great, chill and watch him. Finally,
- 55:12Speaker 1: before we get to our final thought here, the NBA
- 55:14Speaker 1: and the NBAPA reached an agreement on a new seven
- 55:17Speaker 1: year collective bargaining deal. This is a big deal and
- 55:20Speaker 1: so for a bunch of reasons. But I'm gonna say
- 55:22Speaker 1: what I think is the best reason for last basketball
- 55:24Speaker 1: fans have to worry about it. He's sort of strike
- 55:26Speaker 1: or lockout for the rest of the decade, which is good.
- 55:28Speaker 1: After all their negotiations, the league and the players, I'll
- 55:33Speaker 1: do the best rule first, have decided not to change
- 55:35Speaker 1: the one and done draft rule. The word was before
- 55:38Speaker 1: this you're gonna be able to go from high school
- 55:40Speaker 1: right to the NBA again like it used to be.
- 55:43Speaker 1: I don't want that to happen. I like at least
- 55:45Speaker 1: a year in college. I'm selfish because I love college
- 55:48Speaker 1: basketball more than I do NBA. But they are not.
- 55:51Speaker 1: You have to play. You have to be out of
- 55:53Speaker 1: high school year so you can go g league. You
- 55:55Speaker 1: can just sit out, I guess go to the beach
- 55:56Speaker 1: but you've got to be out of high school year.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Why wouldn't you want to go to college though, Because
- 56:00Speaker 1: if you're eighteen in America and you can get a
- 56:02Speaker 1: job doing anything else, and you get a job as
- 56:04Speaker 1: at rock Star at eighteen, you can get a job
- 56:05Speaker 1: as an influencer. If you're good enough to play pro basketball,
- 56:08Speaker 1: you should be able to go play pro basketball. I
- 56:10Speaker 1: get it. Yeah, but that's like the capitalist version of me,
- 56:14Speaker 1: like the real version. But like the college basketball fans like,
- 56:15Speaker 1: make him play four years? Same yeah, yeah, ike miss
- 56:18Speaker 1: that make him play two? Yeah, that would be the best. Yeah.
- 56:21Speaker 1: High school graduates will have to wait one year be
- 56:23Speaker 1: nineteen years old. And the league has ditch marijuana from
- 56:25Speaker 1: the drug testing program completely, which is good. So if
- 56:29Speaker 1: you're do a meth though, be careful, be aware. It's
- 56:32Speaker 1: that be aware. Okay, that's it. Had a great show.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Kind of had a breath here. Final thought, Kevin, I
- 56:41Speaker 1: am just looking forward to this weekend. I have zero plans.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Nice and those weekends are always very nice and the
- 56:48Speaker 1: Masters on. Hopefully the weather is not too crappy out
- 56:51Speaker 1: here in Nashville, but we'll see. So I just want
- 56:53Speaker 1: to say I can't wait to do nothing this weekend
- 56:55Speaker 1: and just enjoy the Masters and relax. Yeah, Eddie has
- 56:57Speaker 1: not been here. Is he quit on ut freaking loser?
- 57:00Speaker 1: I know, you know it's been sad without him. But
- 57:04Speaker 1: we're trying to play golf tomorrow, Eddie and I are.
- 57:06Speaker 1: And it's been raining. You mentioned the weather, it's been terrible.
- 57:09Speaker 1: It's been so wet. I've kind of started like walking
- 57:11Speaker 1: and playing golf now because I've done it a few
- 57:14Speaker 1: times because we kind of had to Pebble Beach and
- 57:16Speaker 1: it's been winter. So maybe we walk instead of like
- 57:19Speaker 1: take a cart and then walk all the way to
- 57:20Speaker 1: the ball because they stay on the cart rule sucks. Yeah,
- 57:24Speaker 1: no carts off the car path. That rule sucks. I
- 57:27Speaker 1: get it, and it should actually be a rule, but
- 57:29Speaker 1: it sucks for a golfer because you basically walk the
- 57:32Speaker 1: same amount of distance unless you hit it over by
- 57:34Speaker 1: the path. Yeah, So I'm gonna propose to Eddie we'd
- 57:36Speaker 1: get a poll card if we play tomorrow. I just
- 57:38Speaker 1: pull our clubs. And I've never actually suggested that out
- 57:42Speaker 1: of the gate. Mostly if it's like we have to walk,
- 57:46Speaker 1: we have to, or he had to caddy for me
- 57:48Speaker 1: and then I felt guilty. He was having to carry
- 57:49Speaker 1: my clubs, and I'd be I'll caring for a couple
- 57:50Speaker 1: of holes and he's like, no, I'm supposed to be
- 57:52Speaker 1: the caddy now. I'm like fine. Then he'd forget to
- 57:54Speaker 1: give me the club. He'd be off talking to somebody.
- 57:55Speaker 1: I'm like, bro, I need the club and I need
- 57:57Speaker 1: you to come over here. Yeah, and also want to
- 58:00Speaker 1: shout out read because that he's not here. So Red
- 58:01Speaker 1: has been running the cameras today. How's it been going.
