- HV163.mp3 Look, I feel like we should do a bit of instant follow-up. Uh what the hell was up with 162, do you reckon? What was that what was that all about? 162. What uh what was that that? Was the last one? Our last episode. Yeah. I don't uh it seemed fairly normal to me. I don't know. Did did you but did you guys think it was not kind of a normal type forty five? Yeah, I mean I felt slightly thrown off because I mean were you you were actually talking to us, is that what was happening? You could see us and you could hear us, even though we were apparently on a different call. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You were both there. You were both uh uh engaging in banter. As far as you were concerned, we were there. I I th I thought it was I thought it was a splendid episode. It was um it was forty-five minutes even though it it looked like it was only like eighteen minutes. But that's just like a weird time thing. It's time zones is really what that is. Yeah. So like an eighteen minute time zone here is like a forty five minute time zone where you guys are. That's how that kinda works. That's time zone. Some sort of you know, Coriolis effect thing. I don't know. Right. Hence the name of this show. Yeah. Exactly. Explain to listeners what the hell went on. Was it like one of the only times we've ever not been able to actually line up or something went wrong? Like in the how many years we've been doing this? Yeah, like six years or something. This thing's been going on. And Jason said no, the show must go on and, fair enough, we were grateful to him that he did that. But then I remember, Jason, you sent in our chat, uh, you know, just top and tail it, maybe just put an intro or a theme, just explain what's going on, or maybe he'll do some crazy shit. And I read those words, crazy shit and I went. Yeah, I think I will. So Jason, here you were thinking, yep, I'm, you know, doing it for the team, I'm doing this apparently solo recording, we're actually talking to us. And then I went, you know what, I'm gonna go to town on this and make it some sort of weird soundtrack extravaganza and then put a twist at the end. So listeners, Jason did not actually know what was gonna happen at the end there. Was that a surprise to you? Or did you have an inkling something was gonna happen, Jason? I knew you were gonna screw with it in some way. There's just no there's no chance that you weren't. Unless if you literally were just... like I have three minutes I'm gonna put in the music and like call it good that was the only chance but I I didn't think you would be able to like hold back from the hearing what what the heck happened. Just didn't seem possible. Yeah, I just wanted to retain the spirit of your interesting recording, but also I don't know, put some audio in that would uh I don't know, frame or help along the vibe as I interpreted it when I finally heard your recording? Well, you did mention like what if this is the first thing someone hears? And God, that would just be great. That would be so good. Someone like hyped this thing up for some reason, and this person was like, Alright, uh you've convinced me, you haven't shut up about it. I'm diving in one six two, let's do this. Hear that, like what is A, what is wrong with this show? And then B, what is wrong with this person that recommended this to Yeah, is Jason actually talking to someone? Can we hear them? What's going on? Yeah. I wish one of the metrics we had was like download to delete timeline. Well you know when you see those like there's there's people try to have that quantitative metric in social media or something of like sentiment. We can measure sentiment. Of course. Of course you can. Yeah, that makes total sense you could do that. Not really. But maybe there could be a confusion metric. Well look, I wanna thank listeners for for getting through it. I wanna thank Jason for doing it when we couldn't all get there and for uh you know Andrew for helping me. kind of ruined Jason's idea in the end there. We all played a part, didn't we? Now the next topic that I have here, Andrew just a side point, if this is too long we can cut it out or if you want to make it a members thing, whatever. But um I thought this topic here was look, it's a first world problem. It could be me making more of a problem for myself than I need to, but at the same time that kind of make makes it to me feel like it's a good thing for the show. Those are my favorite problems. Yeah. For yourself. Yeah, the ones you make for yourself. Thank you, Jason. I'm glad you can relate to this. But I actually want your advice, okay? And maybe I'm overthinking this. I don't know. Maybe people in the listenership have an idea. But for some very quick context, okay, I think like Andrew, uh, I have an Xbox Series X and I've occasionally used it as a Blu-ray player. I made the switch to mostly digital media. Say what you will about DRM. I'm not a huge fan of it, but I didn't want to have a whole heap of space taken up with physical media an Consolidated the DVDs, not gonna do it. This much, but there are some things that only really come out on Blu-ray, right? Or these ultra HD4K things, or like foreign language stuff, or maybe certain things from like the Criterion Collection in the US. And the Criterion Collection is where this story comes in because I saw that the Criterion Collection had a movie called Bringing Up Baby, which is this screwball comedy with Cary Grant and I think uh Audrey Hepburn from years ago, unless I've mixed up my names, and it's this kind of precursor to one of my favourite films. Called What's Up Doc, right? Peter Bogdanovich is the director, and I thought I finally want to see this movie. I've never never had a chance to see it, and they've done this great restoration. That's the one. I'm not a huge Amazon user. Yeah, exactly. Well, there's uh bit of a bugs bunny uh motif in there. What's up, Doc? And I thought, I'm gonna check out where I can get this. And I saw that on Amazon Australia, which I don't use too much, uh, they had it there, shipping to Australia from the Criterion Collection, and right there it says because I've done my region Research, region A warning, this will not work in the US, etc. And I'm like, oh, ships to Australia, it says it's not destined for the US and all this stuff. I'll buy it. Sure enough, it arrives, it's region locked to the US, the very opposite of the wording that was on Amazon, and now I can't play it. But me being me, I don't want to send it back. I've waited to see this movie. I've got this beautiful edition. Now I'm thinking multi-region Blu-ray players. You know, how can I make this work? I want to know, is it actually worth it? Andrew or Jason, do you have experience with this? Do I go down this rabbit hole? How do I do it without spending hundreds of dollars and building a gigantic physical media collection that I don't necessarily want? Am I overthinking it? Should I pull out? Now can I just clarify, this is Blu-ray, isn't it? Because I'm I I'm so old, I'm more familiar with multi region D V D. I was just gonna say Andrew's so old, he's gonna remember when you had five opportunities to change your D V D region and then it would become locked. That was nerve wracking. Wha w Yeah, for context you can get multi region Blu-ray players and there is a very affordable one made by Laser locally in Australia. They do lots of kind of weird and wacky things that fill in certain market gaps, I suppose. But they do like a ten eighty p one and I'm like, do I just spend that and just not worry about the 4K or I don't know laser with an S or a Z or have you with an S have you all come up with an S yet another letter to use there? No, no, no, it's laser as you would expect. Okay, just checking because you know, you guys do things sometimes and it's Yeah. Yeah we do that, yeah. We do things, yeah. It's like laser L A Q E R. Like what? Okay. Where uh Andrew, go ahead. Uh uh I'd love to hear your take. I've got a take. Obviously 4K is preferred. There's no doubt about it. So if you can get a 4K option, do that. It's the whole point of Blu-ray, isn't it? Is that it's meant to be high definition. So you're missing out. But I'm conscious that you're buying this for a movie which is old, right? It is a four K restoration though. And there are other movies floating around out there that you can't really just buy readily in Australia. So I'm thinking, is it worth diving into this for certain titles if you can't get anywhere else? That's what I'm wondering. this from a um cost per disc um analysis. Here we go. Yeah. How many let's let's suck all the fun out of this real quick. How many how many how many non Australian region Blu-ray disks are you planning on buying? Well Well I'm sorry to kind of stomp on your function. I don't have a number because there are things that have popped up, things that I've seen at film festivals or just things generally that I've seen in Criterion Collection that I would like maybe to attain. Okay. Ten over ten years. Okay. And how much is the four K versus ten eighty P? Well, this is the thing. Apparently you can spend a few hundred dollars on eBay and get like some sort of modified thing that they send to you, or you're looking at like eight or nine hundred Australian dollars for some souped up. Panasonic thing that apparently doesn't make too much noise when you play the disc. Okay, so the delta's five hundred dollars between the two. So five hundred five hundred dollars divided by ten discs you're gonna buy, that is fifty dollars per Blu-ray. You need to ask yourself the question, are you willing to allocate fifty dollars to watch a movie? I mean, it's cheaper than going to the cinema. Um but yeah you're kinda talking me out of it. hear what Jason says. But so so you would go down this uh because I'm Jason's like, go for it. But Andrew, you you would quantify it that way, like you know, unless you can get some sort of used thing or whatever, it's probably not going to be worth the cost. Yeah okay. I appreciate that. That's some good reality check right there. Was there anything else on your side, Andrew? That's all I got, mate. It's helpful. He'll forward you he'll he'll share the Google sheet with you later. with all the calculations so you can you can run it yourself to double check. Jason give Maurice some good news. Okay. First of all, you only have one disc that you can't play, so don't craft your life around one disk. Worst case, throw it in the garbage, get the correct version, and be done with it. Um 4K versus 1080p? This may be controversial. Uh I'm totally fine with 1080p all day long. I am Not super fussed about 4K. Uh maybe in 20 years I'll be upset that I didn't do everything in 4K, but I f 1080p felt like the uh what's the metaphor I want? The the top of the mountain or the the whatever like we got to where we needed to be and then from here on out it's like fine. Sure, there's 4K H D R Dolby at most bla bhla bla bhlah, but like uh Uh it's fine. It's 1080p. I I would just stick with 1080p personally. Um and as far as the DVD player thing, I would really not even bother with that disc that doesn't play. It like don't get a thing don't get a player just for that one disc if the other if the disc does actually exist in your region. Like if you can get this in your region, I'd be like forget the other one. I do have an idea for you. So So send the disc to Jason. get him to play it on his USB Blu-ray. He can also rip it for you. Put it on his Plex server at full quality. And then you can watch it. That that would actually be the real answer is is get a get a Blu-ray disk drive that doesn't care about region and just rip them all. Okay. So that's the better way to go about it. And then maintain a kind of digital existence that way. Because full quality, ten eighty p four K, whichever you You can get drives for both. Like the four K drives are more for sure. The ten eighty p ones are probably talking for one that has the correct firmware and everything, which again you just go on eBay, make MKV disc drive hundred bucks probably. And then you can rip it I.'ve considered something works forever. Yeah. See, I'm glad I spoke to you both about this because I I know the ridiculousness of buying a new player based on one disc, but in my mind I was like, I moved away from physical media because I didn't accumulate DVDs anymore. But if there are meaningful, decent things that don't exist. tier and that it like is that worth it but yeah maybe not. You know what I mean? Like I think you can get a D V D of this movie, but it's not like the restored version of like, well, you know, have I gone through all this rigmarole for nothing. Why do region codes exist? Oh of course market control. So yes. Wonderful. Thank you so much. Uh I mean wouldn't people wouldn't you think they just want you to buy their movie and play it? Like isn't that kind of the point of sales in the first place? No, it's it's customer last, Martin. Pause our conversation here for a moment. I I need to do a production check on Jason's audio. Jason, can you just confirm that you are indeed recording through your nice microphone? Because you sound very terri you sound very terrible by this signal call. I am indeed, but I bet Signal settings. The signal call is not. Oh so much better. So in order for the show to make sense now Andrew has to a edit Jason's audio up until this point to sound like shit so everyone can use it. The recording itself is is the right uh is the right microphone the whole time. It just was the signal call. Oh no, we understand, but he's gonna degrade it deliberately now. Just toy with you. I w I will r take our backup recording of just the signal track, just to let people experience what I've been hearing for the last ten minutes. It's been horrendous. Actually please don't do that. You should have told me nine and a half minutes ago. Oh my God, I actually can hear what you're saying now. You sound like you're in a toilet Oh I was actually that's Maybe he was. Maybe they have a bird statue. That's why I had video off. He was appreciating fine art. Oh my goodness, there is crying in the background. Was that the MacBook uh microphone that was being used? No, it was going through my headphones. Oh, okay. 'Cause gonna say don't the MacBook the advertiser like studio quality microphones? That's what they said. That was not studio. That was not studio quality, whatever we were getting. Well tech technically anything is studio quality if it's in a a studio, right? So a tin can is studio quality if it's in a studio. Yes. Yeah it's not high or premium. You're just saying the moment it enters the physical studio space. That's so now I can focus on on Martin's question. Getting back to his clue ray issue. Oh no no. I think you've answered it. I'm happy with that. Yeah, we're done. I'm happy to move on to the next ridiculous thing. We haven't done one of these for a while. And this wasn't so much a counter chat of Oh, here's Martin. You know, standing boring someone over a counter for 15 minutes or like I would just do on this show to both of you. Um, this was back to that, you know, age-old topic of ordering coffee. You know, we've talked about ordering coffee. What's your coffee name again? And I I I recall mentioning I used to give well, it used to be Vladimir, then I gave up on that because my own name, and I'm glad you asked that because generally my own name is not as misunderstood as it once was, right? And recently I went to a different coffee shop. I've been there before, a while ago for pastries or something. And I was like walking through town, I was like, I'm gonna go to this place. And I walked in and uh the guy behind the counter, I can't say with any certainty, but he did sound Germanic, we'll put it that way. He sounded German. Um and he said, Oh, you know, what would you like? And took the order and then he said, Your name, please. And I said, Martin. And he said, Was that Martin? Like confirming what I said. And I said, Yes, Martin. And he went, Oh, Matt. And then my name was Matt for the order. And I didn't dare. Correct him at this point because he asked me to confirm, I confirmed, and then he confirmed with the wrong name. And so then I had to stand there listening out for the name Matt, and I've gone, This is interesting. And so I don't say with any certainty that you know the fact that he was German altered it. I was just surprised because Martin, right, is quite a common and understood name. But how he got Martin from my confirmation to make Matt, I'll never quite understand. Have you ever had something like that before where people have misheard what they already heard What? I don't I get like okay, you say you say Martin and he says nothing and then writes Matt on the cup. Okay, sure. They both start with M. But the verbal confirmation like is one plus one two. Yes, one plus one is two. Okay, cool. Six. Like what? Exactly. Yeah. And and I didn't dare jump in and say no it was Martin in the first place 'cause I've said my I've said my name how many German. D was he German or kind of that angry German accent? Oh no, he was very friendly. I'm just uh the fact that he was, I think, German is not necessarily crucial to the story. It was just a fun extra detail so people can imagine how it might have sounded. I thought maybe he was a bit like soup Nazi and a bit maybe you wouldn't challenge him because of his strong Germanic No, no, no exacting. He was a very polite. Is there any chance he thought you were introducing yourself I'm Matt. And I've just riddled said, yeah, right, see you later. Like he was actually trying to reverse counter chat you and you just walked away. Maybe. when he was actually just handing you the coffee cup. That's a deep cut. That's a deep cut there. That's one of the greatest things of all time. I think it's that only happens if they serve kebabs, Andrew. That's only kebab shops. Yeah. This was a Burek shop. This is not related to counter chat, it's real more related to purchasing coffee. Um I bought a coffee the other day and was horrified. What's happened to our economy? Yeah, it was I was a captured audience. I had nowhere to I was an hour early for a meeting. I had nowhere to go and it was kind of in an isolated area and there was just a coffee shop there. It was seven dollars fifty for a cup of coffee. Yeah. For a coffee. What what was the what was the coffee? Like this we're talking what? My standard order. My standard order, Jason, which okay, I'll hit you up with this is possibly very Australian. I don't know. Almond flat white. I was just gonna say flat white almond. Oh, there you go. Yeah, that seems right. That's it. Seven dollars fifty. Oh I almost like cancelled my order and walked away, but I felt a bit savage. I just went through it's too much. What's like this is the world economy that we're living in now. This is I mean I can understand like an alternative milk choice costs slightly more, like ordering a little bit. Extra shot or something, but uh yeah, were they growing the almonds out the back and then extracting things and mixing in the xanthem gum or whatever it is that they're into? They were they were hand hand milking the almonds. They must have been. It was Oh like little just just like that little Ben Stillamate the Parent thing. You can just milk the milk the almonds out the back. Right into the flatweight. The almond teeth. The almond teeth, yes. So when he asked for my name, I told him my name was Bend Me Over. And he said, All right, sounds good, Matt. Are you joking? You didn't actually say that. But uh that's what I felt. I'm just wondering if this is like some sort of extra level of Perth humour. Like I'm a personality, I can say what I want. Huh. Do you get that reference, Jason? I Australian thing? Yeah, that's no. That's worldwide. That's global. Yeah. I just just really needed to confirm that it was a joke. It was a joke, but seven dollar fifty wasn't 'cause you know, odd odd things come out of countercheck. Well at least gas is cheap. Oh, we have an audience request. A basketball. Is it audience the basketball or is it actually from the audience? It's from the it's from my audience. Yeah. Oh you oh spectrum your audience. Okay. Sorry. Okay, so hundred and sixty three episodes in, Jason. He's finally said we are accessories. Okay, off you go. Andrew, glorious leader, please tell me. So there's the broader audience circle and then there is the uh the inner circle of the Andrew audience specifically. Okay. Let let us hear from Andrew's audience. So friend of the show, uh, Bruce. Bruce, I was sitting on the couch with watching the Freo Dockers win another match a couple of weeks ago. Is a real person. This is a real person. Hello. And when you say friend of the show, this is friend of the show kind of parentheses Andrew. Audience, right? Yeah, so he's a friend of mine. And I think he l he listens to the show. Okay. So he has to be a good thing. It's nice to meet you, Bruce, if we're allowed to communicate with you. I don't know if we're if we have to go through an intermediary, but good to meet you. Thin ice Jason. It's Andrew's audience, alright? Bruce has asked a question. He would like all of us, not just me, because he can get my opinion anytime actually on the couch while watching the football. Football. Um, so really my my view is a bit worthless. But he wants to know what is our view on any future iPhone fold or whatever it might be called? Do are we into it? Do we think it'll be good? Do we think it will be worth upgrading to? Do we think it'll be nice, useful? What's our take on it? I think Jason is the one who actually owns a folding phone and has something to say, but left iPhone. So you go first, Jason.. I'll add whatever Yeah, I've been using a semi-f. Several of them for I don't remember when it was maybe six months ago, eight months ago, I don't remember. Maybe it's been a year, who knows? Um I love 'em. I think they're great. Uh if if it's not foldin', I'm not holding is my tagline at this point. Um I thought it was I didn't know when to fold 'em and when to hold 'em. Oh. Well, I didn't want to get arrested, so I had to kind of Yeah. Um, I mean, I don't know. It's maybe they'll do one. I'm not I don't actually think they will. I don't think they have any interest in doing one other than just chasing to say, look, we did it now and now it's somehow better. Um if they would have done this three years ago and had like a really, really kick ass one, I think that would have been one of those quote unquote apple moments where it's like people were doing stuff and then they were like actually here's how you do it correctly. But everyone else is so incredibly far into this, like four, five, six, seven generations into doing it, which means of course they can do one as well. But I just don't see them having interest in this. I I I would feel like they would need to focus on it and I don't feel like they really focus on like they did the Vision Pro, and then it was like, what happened to that? I don't know. No one really seems to care. Um and then we did the whole software thing for everybody and that kind of didn't really work. It doesn't feel like a good time to do it. It also feels like a weird product fit of it's a phone and an iPad when they really want you to have a phone and they want you to have a $1,500 phone and they want you to have a $2,000 iPad. So I guess maybe if the phone is thirty five hundred dollars, that works out, which spoiler, it probably will be, cause like the other like the Android folding phones are upwards of $2,000. And that's You know, generally those are way cheaper than iPhones. So I'll be surprised if they do it. It'd be cool if they did something unique or novel with it that hasn't been done. You think it might be like a phone on the front and then you open it and it's an iPad. Is that essentially where you're going with this? That seems like the the logical step for them, given that they have a phone operating system, a tablet operating system, both of which are very mature. Whereas on the Android side, it's not as mature. So that could be like a real benefit. To say it's a phone, now it's an iPad, and then maybe when you plug it into a four thousand dollar Apple monitor, now it's a computer as well, because the Neo thing happened and that can run Mac OS. So that would be a like holy shit feature. Again, that probably be like three thousand dollars or four thousand dollars, but it that's price has never been a problem for them. So I think Jason's wrapped it up really perfectly. I do want to say that you know people have spent years obsessing and now see the consequences of oh what happens if you iPadify the Mac or Macify the iPad. The iPhone and the iPad are so similar in their origins that it would make more sense to have a device that is the crossover of those two things or one becomes the other. I'm not offended by folding phones, it doesn't really affect me. Um, they don't set my world on fire, but I'm glad that they exist for those who want them. I can see the utility of expanding something to have a bigger device that's nice for just scrolling through photos or being able to look at a spreadsheet or a video larger, that that's fine. But in all honesty like I would like an iPhone mini again that is smaller than the first one. And I know that's really unpopular. I don't want a bigger thing. I don't want I don't want to to unfold a tent of a phone. I would like something that's the size of the iPhone 3G that goes edge to edge. That to me would be a more revolutionary thing of wow, you can have a decently sized device, you know, with a decent screen on something that is not the size of, you know, a silver platter. I would like that. Um I know that that's unpopular so if they do it, I think it'll be a typical thing of the We got to it later, we've done it better in some way, people can agree with that or not, and uh we can just move on and they'll make heaps of money from it. I've never used really used a folding phone at all. Does the fold become visible and is it annoying? Is it tac is it tac tac can you feel it? So in the early days, absolutely. It was a it was a horrific crease. Um the the one that just came out, the Oppo Find N6, they did they call it a like a touchless cr I don't know whatever. They call it, but it's very smooth because they've done some weird 3D printing engineering of like 3D printing this thing for every single phone that matches the opposite side of the display. Like they did some crazy stuff and it's completely flat and looks incredible. It doesn't really feel like anything. If the phone is off and black and you shine it at a light and kind of find the right angle, yeah you General and daily use, not an issue at all. And it it has a digitizer layer, so it works with like a pen. So it's got like all the cool stuff you would expect. Um, I was I forgot to mention too, like previous to that, I would always have a phone and a tablet. And I was always kind of mad at one or the other because they either weren't in sync or like things weren't the same. When I went to this, it I got rid of the tablet because it's not a huge tablet when it's opened, but it's right in that good enough space to where I'm on my phone and it's kind of cramped and I can just break it open, do whatever I want to do on the big screen and then slap it closed again and throw it in my pocket instead of pulling a tablet out of my bag. Oh it',s dead. Cool. Let me charge it. And then wait for it to sink because I haven't used it in three days. And like that was generally my workflow with a tablet, and now I don't have that. And I for one, thank you for getting rid of your iPad if that's what you're referring to as a tablet because Oh yeah. Exactly. Yeah. I'll be interested to see what they do. Whatever they do, it will be the most revolutionary thing that no one has ever seen or done in the history of humanity. And then we can get over that and then it'll be fine. But what it won't be a blow away product, because that's Tim Cook's thing. So what's John Turnus' line gonna be? We got rid of glass. A turning point or a turnus point. A turning point, is that what you said? It it's a turn points. We can't wait to see what you're gonna do with it. Well there you go, Bruce. Thank you. You get what you ask for. You got a solid, solid review there of a product that's remote. And it at twenty nine ninety nine US, that's gonna be what, like eighteen thousand AUD? Probably something like that. It's gonna be a lot. Or or three flat whites. If you want to do it that way instead. Okay, so Jason, I I think I already know the answer to this because you mentioned earlier that you were in the toilet and this is probably that's probably the answer to my question. But coming back to the USA I understand where Andrew's going with that. I don't, but I'm curious. So let me ask I'll re I'll phrase the question completely for the benefit of the audience. Please. Jason. Coming back to the United States of America. What do you miss most from Japan? Whoo most. That is you know it's not gonna be one item. You're asking me a question. Well, I'm looking at the clock. It's gonna have to be, yeah. You'd see why I said the toilet, right? 'Cause those toilets are robotic amazing things. Oh, we have those in our house. We we did that at our house too. Okay. Yeah, that was cool. That was like the first after the first trip coming back the first time we went to Japan in twenty Whatever, 2015, I think it was. That was like the first thing we bought when we got back. Cause like new toilets, you gotta get new toilets. Yeah. See, I feel like I could see the future here because I I knew what Andrew was talking about, and I could see why Jason was misunderstanding, but I knew that when Jason mentioned it, it's almost like he does miss the toilet so much that now he goes to Japan technically when he goes to the bathroom. That's how he relives Japan. So that is the answer. Okay. So what's this thing thing you that what's the next best thing you miss? Uh tr transit system, trains, probably. Love the trains. Right. I mean it's hard if food food and trains is kind of like neck and neck. Um and eating food on the trends. And just how incredibly affordable everything was compared to here. It's like we go out to like lunch here and it's like forty-eight dollars. And that's like how much I spent in like a week. I mean I'm being You know, it's I'm be I'm exaggerating, obviously, but you know, you could just pop into any old little hole in the wall, sushi place, ramen place, whatever, and it was like four dollars fifty. It was like the most incredible food ever. Uh yeah. So food and I'll go food and trains before I derail the conversation and go too deep into things. But yeah, food and trains, I I miss the trains all the time. Nice pun. And the fact that they run on time. So nice. How how apologetic and upset they are when it's like eighteen seconds late. It's a great shame. Yeah. They're just like I we are so oh we're so sorry. Like it it's a minute late, we so sorry. Yeah. Bicasally the conductors just goes and walks in front of the tracks. He's like, I've I'm done, I'm fired, I'm out of here. Yeah. So food foods and train foods, f trains and food would be my my next answer. What about workers in jumpsuits? Do I miss them? Well, is that still gets? I mean, that's one of the things I noticed when I went to Japan is that all the so many workers wore jumpsuits. Oh, there's a like uniform. Yeah, coveralls with integrated high vis, integrated like helmet thing, and a baton with lights on it. Yeah. The convenient or not convenience, the over efficiency of things I very much appreciate. Like it's they're doing a construction job. I I don't even have to worry about it. You're you've got it handled. Everything's good. It's blocked off appropriately. I'm not gonna fall in a hole. I'm not gonna get hit by a crane. It's all good. Yeah, every yeah, very good. That's good. Okay.. Thanks for that Just curious. And look, and and we've been more efficient than ever. I have to congratulate Jason on the most efficient answer. I think that's a good thing. It's going to keep going. on my list would probably be the shouldn't have said anything. Type forty five. Hey, like I'm saying that like I'm efficient when I'm speaking. Type forty five I go forever. My last basketball um just wanted to bring it up to speed. I mentioned Slay the Spire number two a few weeks ago as a game. I continue to play it. Um but I just last night I bought another game on Steam. It's called Inscription. Man, what's going on over there? It's like gamer central. Do you have like a do you have a RGB? monitor now and like a keyboard that lights up or what? Nah, I'm not a real gamer because I still have to make sure that they run on Mac, you know, which is limits my choices significantly. But Steam was having a sale on um roguelike games and card building games and that's kind of my genre that I kind of enjoy. And so this was recommended to me. It was it's kind of like a described as a card building escape room sort of game. So I'm I'm intrigued. I have bought it. I have not yet loaded it. So I haven't even played. So I have not so you brought it up on the show and you haven't played it. Ten out of ten. Gaming corner. Played on Mac, on sale. Can't tell you about it. It's my kind of gaming. But Slade the Spire too is still good. I'm still enjoying that. Did did you buy is inscription is this some sort of shorthand thing? Like you got nostalgic? No, not really. Although it's like Mavis Beacon, but it's handwriting or what's I've beacon teaches taught. Um no, but what if you want to get I still do get nostalgic about games and one of the Reddit forums I look at is uh slash Amiga and there's a lot of games in there are people still playing Amiga games and that's my um retro memory. Well while you while everyone is on Steam downloading the games that Andrew has recommended and not played yet, um please also wish list Big Walk is a game that's coming out and it's very Very fun. Is that like so like like a really long stroll or a large instrument for cooking various ideas? Oh the first one. The second one might be included in there. Big walk, right? And yes, Andrew, it is the panic one. Yes, I saw a trailer for that a while ago. It looked kind of cool. I I played it yesterday and it's absolutely phenomenal. Is it out? No, it is not. So how'd you play it? I played it at a playtest. At panic. Valerie and I went over there yesterday and we both we played together actually and it was so fun. That's just a little humble brag. Leave any stickers of hemisphere views lying around. Because you know that's our poor audience. That's our demographic. right there If anybody in that office looks around, they may find some surprise Easter eggs. We have so many more audiences than what I thought. We've got a core audience at Panic. We've got Andrew's audience that we're not allowed to touch, which is consisting entirely of a man called Bruce who sits on his loun That is a hyper focused uh group there. Panic and Bruce. We got Maggie who will hate this entire episode because it's way too technical. Well we did start off with D V D play. Hi Margie. So that might that might not help. Yeah, I gotta go on born attacha at the end of this recording about what I heard. Should be like, please leave me alone. But Margie's still using um composite, you know, R C A cables out of a VHS blow. Wow. Good on you, Margie. Just keep it up if it's working. Why why stop? She change over? Just when the thing that she changes over to is gonna go obsolete. Stereo 480i. Love it. So Andrew, how do we do? You're sandwiched between events. You've been to one, you've come to record with this, and you're gonna go to the next one. We've done it, we've achieved it. Do you know the great do you want to know the great irony? And then what I've got after the next event, what I've got later on tonight is dinner. Guess who I'm having dinner with? Bruce. Bruce? Hey He'll be like, What can I expect? Will the audience. When you see him, do you go? Ey Bruce. Bruce. It's such a such a good Australian name, isn't it? No, but like finding Lima. Do you Martin, do you do you th don't listen to this, Andrew? Martin, do you think Bruce is real? Where are you at? Are you like 50-50? Is this kind of like a Yeah, I mean let's just let this episode get out and we'll see what happens and then we'll I don't want to open up some sort of pandas box or you know uh traumatize Andrew during this record I'm expecting a Selfie from Andrew with his arm up as if it were around someone, but there's no one there. Bruce might just become chapter artwork. Great. Thanks, Bruce. Well, in typical Andrew fashion, he will no longer be listening so there you go at least he pronounced his name correctly it's
