- 0:00So here's some unexpected signs of autism in women and girls.
- 0:03Stay tuned. All coming up guys, welcome back
- 0:05to the Aspy world. My name is Dan and I have autism
- 0:07and ADHD. I make weekly videos all about
- 0:09this stuff. So if you're new around here,

- 0:13below by clicking the notification bell and following
- 0:15away other social media platforms to see daily videos
- 0:17that I upload on there for every single day, which is crazy.
- 0:20Now guys, it's really interesting.
- 0:21I've done a lot of videos talking about women and girls
- 0:24and autism, right? And there's a big whole kind of
- 0:27shift happening right now where for years we only had data, we
- 0:31only had real long term data that was using boys or males as
- 0:37a test subject for testing for autism, right?
- 0:39And so all the data in the research was backed up from 1942
- 0:42to 1980s on males. And then we realized, hey, women
- 0:46have autism too. And so now they're kind of
- 0:48backtracking and trying to figure out all this data to get
- 0:50all this research in, which is really interesting.
- 0:51Takes a lot of money to hold time, I get it.
- 0:53But that doesn't stop the fact that we have an abundance of
- 0:58females who left off the autonomous spectrum kind of
- 1:00diagnostic criteria because of various different things.
- 1:02I mean, this could be done from just ignorance from doctors to
- 1:04actually lack of data and research within the the protocol
- 1:08for diagnosing and the nomenclature for autism in
- 1:11females. So here's a little overview.
- 1:13I'm going to leave some links down below as well to ask you to
- 1:15read that too, all about kind of unexpected signs of autism and
- 1:19women. Because I think that there are
- 1:21some telltale signs of autism and women that people will just
- 1:24brush off as other issues because a lot of women will
- 1:27actually get diagnosed as bipolar or ADHD or the true
- 1:31anxiety disorder when actually it's autism.
- 1:33But we don't really come across it that often because a lot of
- 1:36the time women on the autism inspection will actually display
- 1:38or exhibit signs that are not commonly associated with autism
- 1:41specifically. So some of the signs for autism
- 1:44women kind of include difficulty with social interactions, but
- 1:48not limited to social interactions.
- 1:50One way by this is that they may have issues with social
- 1:52interactions, but because you can be masking or, or, or hiding
- 1:58kind of behind a, a mask, so to speak in a social situation, a
- 2:02woman or a female can can move past the awkwardness of the
- 2:06situation to kind of like just struggle through that social
- 2:09interaction even though they're struggling.
- 2:10But then the struggle will come out when they're home, when
- 2:12they're trying to chill, it will just kind of come out and
- 2:14they'll have an emotional outburst at home after
- 2:17pretending to socialize all day because they have issues with
- 2:19this. The others are sensory
- 2:21sensitivities where, you know, some women can't wear certain
- 2:24perfumes or they can't wear certain types of clothing is of
- 2:27the sensitivity to that. And because this becomes come up
- 2:29to do with autism that you have sensory processing disorder and
- 2:33processing with senses as you know, clothing or, or, or smells
- 2:37or even food. This can actually prevent women
- 2:39from doing things like buying the perfume, like going out to
- 2:42dinner, like buying certain clothes and those things.
- 2:45A lot of people would be like oh they're just fussy or they don't
- 2:47like that. But in actual fact, this is down
- 2:48to an autonomous fashion condition and a trait of autism.
- 2:52Another one is issues with executive function.
- 2:54Now this could be like anything from like organising your
- 2:57clothes to organising your life, organising your finances, being
- 3:00able to organise your kitchen, cook food.
- 3:02All of these things are executive function skills and a
- 3:05lot of the time autism presents self in women with executive
- 3:08dysfunction skills. This could be anything from even
- 3:10just picking up the phone and ordering a pizza to going out in
- 3:13a grocery shop and actually making sure to pick everything
- 3:15off that list because it can be quite challenging for females on
- 3:18the spectrum to have issues with autism and executive functions.
- 3:23So these are some of the things that you can kind of take away
- 3:27from this. But one of the other main
- 3:29telltale signs is, you know, issues with things like routine
- 3:34and, and change in routine, like struggling with changes or
- 3:37unexpected changes is something that impacts autistic people
- 3:40quite, quite a lot. And, and especially women.
- 3:43If you have unexpected change within a day or routine or a
- 3:47route or a something that is supposed to be happening for
- 3:50that person on the autism spectrum, then there is a
- 3:52possibility you're going to come across a meltdown and other big
- 3:55major issues. Now these happen with boys as
- 3:58well, but I think that it's more prominent to see these in
- 4:01females. And a lot of people brush it off
- 4:03because there is always some bizarre war on women, which I
- 4:07can't stand. And I'm also an ally.
- 4:09So like, yeah, I'm big up to big up to women and women's rights.
- 4:13It's it's super important we do that.
- 4:15So that being said guys, if this video was good, please share it
- 4:20if you think somebody can get something out of it and leave me
