Transcript
- 0:03Hey guys, this is the Daily Ripples, and it is September 19th, accepting what it, what is, accepting what it is.
- 0:17The stone peace begins when I stop resisting reality and trust God with what I cannot change.
- 0:23Practical.
- 0:25Today I will accept life as it is instead of exhausting myself, wishing it were different.
- 0:31Acceptance is not giving up.
- 0:34It is choosing to face reality with faith.
- 0:37Faith, knowing God can work even though through difficult circumstances.
- 0:42Spiritual.
- 0:43As I accept the father's care instead of relying only on myself, the Holy Spirit replaces inner chaos with growing peace.
- 0:51Following Christ's example, trusting the Father's will, I discover that surrender opens the door to freedom rather than defeat.
- 1:00So when I think about like, man, I don't make too many friends like this, but I, uh, I hate thought of acceptance.
- 1:09Well, not the thought of acceptance because I think acceptance happens, right, when you formulate an opinion about it.
- 1:15It's that's somewhat of a definition of it.
- 1:18But so like, because like right when something happens, right, I'm either going to accept it for good and bad.
- 1:24That's what's happening.
- 1:26But I think acceptance, using the term of what people like to use it in these spiritual terms and rooms, is more of a place like I have the power to,
- 1:34Well, it's almost like making myself feel better about something like, oh, well, you just got to accept it.
- 1:40Well, does that mean, I got to change my 1st opinion about it and make it a lighter opinion because I don't have to like things.
- 1:49I don't have to like if somebody, uh, sleeps with my fiance, right?
- 1:57I don't have to like that.
- 1:58Um, I don't think anybody does, but you know, for someone in the rooms that I hang out in in AA, where Alcoholics Anonymous, it tells me it talks about like resentment.
- 2:10So if like something comes up and it's like resentful towards it, it says resentment is the number one offender.
- 2:15It destroys more alcohols than anything else.
- 2:19And that's why these things are kind of drastic.
- 2:21And when you look at page 65 in the big book, it talks, gives you the, uh, example of how to do a 3 columns of the 4 column inventory, just so you know, there is 4 columns.
- 2:34But Mr. Brown has attention to this dude's wife, told my wife of mistress, and Brown's getting my job.
- 2:41Well, man, Brown needs to no longer exist.
- 2:46You know what I mean?
- 2:48Because I'm going to be pissed.
- 2:49I'm going to be very upset at Mr. Brown.
- 2:51And then on the other down below, it says his wife likes Brown and wants put to put the house in her name.
- 2:58So in my view of the way I view things, I've already viewed it as Brown's moving into my house, Brown's banging my wife and taking my job, and now Brown's told my wife of my mistress.
- 3:12So my wife is really leaving me.
- 3:14Good for good and all.
- 3:16And, uh,
- 3:17But that's why it's drastic, right?
- 3:19That's why going through this work is a drastic thing.
- 3:22And so that's the other side of that pendulum is, is so like, well, I got to have accepted.
- 3:30No, well, that's not the deal.
- 3:32So we run this through the 4 column inventory and we get up to this place of, we realize that people who wronged us were perhaps spiritually sick.
- 3:44Though we did not like their symptoms and the way they deserved us.
- 3:48They like ourselves were sick too.
- 3:50Well, if I'm going off this Mr. Brown and my wife thing.
- 3:54Well, I've already, I have a mistress, so that means if I have a mistress, I've already done things to my wife that now she's doing back.
- 4:07But I'm mad.
- 4:10So the way this works is I just go and oh, as I go through this thing.
- 4:15I'm looking at, so it says we resolutely for, look for our mistakes.
- 4:21Well, I go look at, hey, I cheated on my life.
- 4:23Well, I go make amends to my wife and let her go on her about her business because like when I look at that and we're all God's kids.
- 4:30I'm not looking at the fact that, hey, well, this is what happened in this.
- 4:37Well, I set the ball rolling anyways.
- 4:39I mean, it talks about that, you know.
- 4:41On page 62, it says, sometimes they hurt us, seeming without provocation, but invariably we have found at some time in the past, we made decisions based on self.
- 4:52So that would be self through me having a mistress, right?
- 4:56of self.
- 4:58Which later puts places in a position to be hurt.
- 5:02So the next thing is, this is the, this is the Palmise of the 4th step.
- 5:07So if you haven't done a 4 step, it's not that good of a promise.
- 5:10So our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making.
- 5:13But for someone like me, they are basically of my own making, and that is important, because when it's of my own making and not of all 100 people, that's a lot of simpler thing, right?
- 5:24Because if I look back and or look forward, And this on page 64, it says, 1st we search out for the flaws in our own makeup, which caused our failure.
- 5:36Well, what about the thing of me not paying attention in class, so I didn't, I didn't pass school?
- 5:41So I didn't go to college, but I'm upset about me having a construction job.
- 5:44But I got to accept that.
- 5:47Well, I got to accept who I am and what the things I can do, maybe I have the opportunity to go back to school.
- 5:52But I don't want to look at those things because self-delusion tells me it was all y'all's fault.
- 5:57It was my circumstances fault that put me in this place.
- 6:00Because I've always wanted to blame everyone else until I come into that position, man.
- 6:05Nothing's going to change, especially with who I am.
- 6:08Because if it's a flaw in my own makeup.
- 6:11Can I now view that as something that can actually, and we flip over in deeper in the book, right?
- 6:17So if I go to page, I think it's 124.
- 6:22124.
- 6:24So it says, well, on page 124, we grow by our willingness to face of rectifiers and convert them into assets.
- 6:31Well, if I can face these errors.
- 6:34And rectify those, make them right with the people, and go convert that to asset, and go do something.
- 6:40Because like, you know, it, man, I think Jordan Peterson, uh, the way he uh, breaks down how to tame a dragon, I think that's what it is.
- 6:51How to tame a dragon.
- 6:53Anyway, so like the way I was under, you know, it could be off a little bit, but this is how the story goes.
- 6:58to me, and this is how the story's going to go to you.
- 7:00So there's a little kid and he goes opens his closet and there's a little baby drag.
- 7:06Well, goes down to his parents, his parents like, no, there's not, just, da, da, da.
- 7:13And they don't believe it.
- 7:14Anyway, so, The dragon's now underneath the kid's bed, it's grow.
- 7:21It's a little bit bigger.
- 7:22needed to get out of the closet.
- 7:24So now it's sleeping underneath the bed with the kid.
- 7:27The kids like, hey guys, there's a dragon underneath the bed.
- 7:30My bad.
- 7:31But I know there's not, da, da, da.
- 7:34Anyways, long story short, the dragon keeps on growing.
- 7:36The kid keeps on saying stuff, but that, so the parents, though, or me pushing things away because I'm not looking at them.
- 7:43I'm not searching out the things in my falls.
- 7:46I'm only looking at the good stuff and mannoring everything else.
- 7:49And I think, you know, so and eventually the dragon takes over the house, no more house.
- 7:53You know, it's the same thing with Noah's Ark, right?
- 7:56There's, they get ready for a flood.
- 7:58Are you ready for the flood?
- 8:00Because there's always going to be a flood in your line.
- 8:02Right.
- 8:03So the thing is, am I willing to look at that stuff?
- 8:06Because, you know, man, for me, something that I found interesting, I mean, very weird is like when I'm writing inventory in the beginning, especially when I 1st doing some did some inventories, I wouldn't even barely be able to look at the paper.
- 8:20Look at the name.
- 8:22Man, song to a dude the other day and he was like, man, I can't even write their names, though.
- 8:27I like, well, they're just letters.
- 8:29But they because it's touching me, right?
- 8:32Man, I just sent a text message to a person to make it a approach to making amends to this person. And man, I've been thinking about this for a long time.
- 8:43I've had it rode out in my phone notes and, you know, I just pushed sin not too long ago.
- 8:50Oh, now the wait, right?
- 8:53Because I've been living in this, you know, because I don't know how that other person's going to react.
- 8:57And usually my, their reaction, I'm not going to be able to judge because they're human and they, everybody has a different thing going on their life.
- 9:05And when you look at the way the book, you know, explains that.
- 9:11It says, sorry, I'm not a, I don't really get prepared too much, so we're kind of just, to kind of just go how, how I think about it.
- 9:23Oh.
- 9:27Anyways, this says 9 out of 10, the unexpected, or it says in 9 cases, in page 78, in 9 cases out of 10, the unexpected happens.
- 9:37Why?
- 9:37Because I have no idea what someone else is thinking, doing, what's going on in their life, et cetera, right?
- 9:43And that's the deal, right?
- 9:45I could never think about however someone else is thinking, but I think I'm smart enough to do that.
- 9:51So in reality, I think I'm gone.
- 9:52Which I'm not.
- 9:54So like back to the ripple, right?
- 9:57Because it says something about, to now, accept the life as it is instead of exhausting myself, wishing it were different.
- 10:04Man, I wish you were different.
- 10:08So it would, and I could, like, you know, for what?
- 10:11Man, this is a beautiful world and a beautiful time to just be a person.
- 10:17You know, with every, there's things going on in the world, whatever, but like, man, like, you know, we're all just a part of this God's world to be a part of God's people.
- 10:28just, you know, it's such a cool thing to just love people for who they are.
- 10:33Anyways, I, uh,
- 10:35You know, man, I got my book open right here that says, you know, page 73, the alcoholic leads a double live.
- 10:42Well, in my life, I've lived 5 different lives of once.
- 10:47Man, when I started nipping away at that and making things right with God's kids and people that I'm affected and being loving God's kids, man.
- 10:57I start knocking down those lives and start becoming who God wanted me to be.
- 11:02And that is a loving person in this world.
- 11:05So, man, don't worry about the acceptance because, you know, the bad good and bad's going to happen.
- 11:10No, this is my opinion, whatever.
- 11:12But good and bad is going to happen.
- 11:14But the objective nature of this work and the structure and the disciplines of waking up, getting on my knees and everything else stays the same. And for some reason, too, that God takes care.
- 11:27Anyways, a prayer.
- 11:29Where's the prayer?
- 11:31Prayer, Father, God, help me accept what I cannot change and trust you with, trust you with what lies ahead through your Holy Spirit.
- 11:40Fill me with peace as I walk in your will.
- 11:43Shape me through the example of Jesus.
- 11:45Amen.
- 11:46Thank you guys.
