- 2:53Please do not respond. If they're part of the Bang
- 2:58gang, it's a different. Alright, so let's get into our
- 3:04hot topics for week 13. Let's do it.
- 3:08Alright, first hot topic for this week, we've got the Anaheim
- 3:12Ducks, specifically some guys like Troy Terry, Leo Carlson,
- 3:16Jackson Lacombe, Lukas Dostal. I'll highlight Terry and Dostall
- 3:20as two of the big ones that we've been hearing a lot about.
- 3:22The Ducks are in a bit of a tailspin, started off the year
- 3:25way hotter than anyone expected and have been way worse than we
- 3:29expected recently. And some people are saying, you
- 3:32know, do I drop Terry? Do I drop those style?
- 3:35What's going on with them and uh, what do you guys think?
- 3:40Yeah, I still I still think that they're like gonna make a push
- 3:45for the playoffs. It's it's definitely a
- 3:48different, different Ducks than we were used to seeing, you
- 3:50know, pretty much about a month ago.
- 3:52But it's a young team and I say this all the time with young
- 3:56players, very unpredictable. Goutier, also right, has been
- 4:01it's been a pretty bad last few weeks.
- 4:04Actually, I. Feel like he's the only one
- 4:07that's been like decent. His shots have been nuts.
- 4:10Gothier yeah, yeah, but like over the past two weeks, I mean
- 4:15since like the, you know, December 11th, he's has two
- 4:19games with points, 2 points in in each of those games.
- 4:22But like that's almost three weeks of continuous horrible
- 4:26points. But it's the whole team.
- 4:28They're not scoring much. They're letting in a lot of
- 4:30goals. Do I think they'll turn it
- 4:32around? Yes.
- 4:33Probably not going to be as hot as they once were.
- 4:35Overall though, yeah. I mean, I would say it's a buy
- 4:40low opportunity for some. OK.
- 4:43So which ones are buy lows and which ones are I'm avoiding?
- 4:46So let's say Lucas Dostal. That's a big one.
- 4:52Yeah, he's very polarizing right now.
- 4:54I think he's been the worst goalie in fantasy I think since
- 4:58coming back from his own injury. And this is a scary one because
- 5:03it feels like if you're sending any goalie for him, you're
- 5:06taking a massive, massive L in the immediate future.
- 5:09But I'm still willing to do that for I think the low end starters
- 5:12I'd be willing to do for the style knowing that I'm sending a
- 5:16better goalie and should be getting more value along with
- 5:18Dust Kyle. So I'm thinking of like if I had
- 5:20UC sorrows, would you do sorrows for the style plus?
- 5:26That's an interesting one. It's.
- 5:27Really scary right now. Conviction.
- 5:29Exactly. Yeah.
- 5:31Look, I do believe there's brighter days ahead for Dostal
- 5:33and the Ducks. They just cannot be this bad and
- 5:35he cannot be this bad. But I think you have to tap the
- 5:38expectations. I don't think he's gonna go back
- 5:39to what you know, I don't think the team is gonna go back to the
- 5:41start of the season. I think that was them vastly
- 5:43overperforming. So I think if you can get a
- 5:47decent plus, I don't mind doing this arrows for dose style plus,
- 5:50but at this point it should be a sizable plus.
- 5:55Yeah, what if it's like a what if it's like Sara's Ford Dustal
- 6:00Plus Chantilly? Yeah, I like that.
- 6:07I'm taking that. Yeah.
- 6:09I'm taking that's relevant. And that's a good one.
- 6:12Yeah, I think it's a realistic 1.
- 6:13You can do as. Well, doesn't that that is a
- 6:15really solid. Solid knowing that the Guida has
- 6:17the style in your league probably really needs the goalie
- 6:19help and it'll feel like holding the start.
- 6:22This point is like negative value.
- 6:24Yeah, absolutely. But but overall, like I think
- 6:26Terry is a big one, like people have been dropping him recently.
- 6:29He's got bumped down to line 3, power play 2.
- 6:32I think, I don't know if that's sustainable.
- 6:33I think he's gonna end up with a top six, it feels like.
- 6:35And back on people one at some point, they're kind of splitting
- 6:38their power play units right now.
- 6:39Like we're seeing even go to on Power Play 2 and they're using
- 6:42Crider on Power Play 2, and that's kind of like a big sign
- 6:45that this is a split unit. And I think Terry is the most
- 6:49dispensable of the bunch at the moment because he's fallen from
- 6:53so high. So you believe?
- 6:55I'm trying to, I'm trying to buy Terry, honestly.
- 6:57Absolutely buy Terry right now. People want to drop him so
- 6:59depends what you're willing to sell, but in your case Josh
- 7:02would be a perfect below for your team.
- 7:04I literally like I'm trying so hard, but the guy in our league
- 7:07who has him doesn't make trades. So and also obviously I sent the
- 7:11trade offer and then Terry immediately puts up a
- 7:12three-point game after being off for for a while, which is just
- 7:15the classic try by low curse. So probably be able to pull it
- 7:19off. But I do like Terry as a bi LO
- 7:21in certain situations. I don't think that this line 3
- 7:24power play 2 exposure is gonna stay.
- 7:26I think he's definitely the top 6 power play one rest of season,
- 7:30but it might take a few weeks for it to get back there.
- 7:33I don't want it to be like, I told you something, but like we
- 7:35did say to like, sell all your ducks, guys.
- 7:37And yeah, like, Leo Carlson, the Jackson Lacombe when he was
- 7:40popping off, like, even the terrorists and the critters,
- 7:42like, it felt really scary because they held the high value
- 7:46for so long. But look how bad it is right
- 7:48now. And like, it's not gonna be this
- 7:50bad forever. They'll go back to being good
- 7:52again, but they're not gonna hit the highest they were hitting at
- 7:55the beginning of the year. And let's not forget, like, this
- 7:57team is still in the process of becoming a competitive team.
- 8:00Like, I think we were all, like, writing them in the playoff
- 8:03picture being like, alright, this team is actually good now
- 8:05we have to treat them as such. But last year, they were so bad.
- 8:09Like you don't go from being so bad to like so good.
- 8:12Yeah, fully agree. Alright, next we've got another
- 8:16situation of guys, a team that was overperforming and now seems
- 8:19to be falling, and that is the Boston Bruins.
- 8:21So we've got some notable names like David Pasternak, Morgan
- 8:24Geekie, Charlie McAvoy, Jeremy Swagman.
- 8:26What do you think of these guys? Are these more bylaws or any of
- 8:29them? You know, I know that like
- 8:31Pasta, I have him on my team. He's been underwhelming.
- 8:34He's he's got like 3 points in his last four.
- 8:36Games three pasta. Yeah, I mean, that too was just
- 8:39absolutely ridiculous, geeky, slowing down a little bit.
- 8:42He's still, I mean, these guys have still been like, this isn't
- 8:44the same as the Ducks. It's like like, first of all,
- 8:47they were really hot, but also like passing geeky have still
- 8:50been solid the past couple of weeks.
- 8:51It's not like they're like completely falling off.
- 8:53Macavoy is having a slow return, but I think defenseman in
- 8:57general, like you can't expect him to be point per game and
- 8:59then swam in as the as the goalie for the Bruins.
- 9:01You know, if they're losing games, then you know, we're
- 9:03seeing Corpus also get some starts here and there.
- 9:05What do you guys think? So I actually like the Ducks as
- 9:09a team more than the Blues. This.
- 9:11Year Brilliant. Bruins, I'm sorry.
- 9:13Sorry. Thank you.
- 9:14Yes, I I was, I was about to catch myself.
- 9:18Yeah, I and the Blues. Yeah.
- 9:21To be fair, it's true. So.
- 9:23So it wasn't wrong there. I mean, when you look at their
- 9:29records, you could see that like they they both have similar
- 9:32amounts of wins. But the thing with the Ducks is
- 9:37that they're they I think have more of a spread out lineup,
- 9:41whereas the Bruins are extremely top heavy.
- 9:43So that to me means that I'm like less worried about
- 9:47Pasternak and geeky than I am about, you know, Leo Carlson and
- 9:52Cutter Goji or Troy Terry, whoever you want to put in
- 9:54there. I mean, I, I think that, like,
- 9:56you know, players have to score and the concentration to those
- 9:59guys is gonna be there. Pasternak is still going to be
- 10:01elite, even if he's fallen off a little bit.
- 10:04Zero worry there. But I do worry that the Bruins
- 10:08are just going to continuously not be good for the rest of the
- 10:12season. I don't think they have a very
- 10:13good team O the whereas the Ducks, they won't be what they
- 10:17were at the beginning, but they'll they'll steady out and
- 10:19they won't be this bad. And I think they'll be in the
- 10:21fringe playoff conversation, whereas the Bruins, I don't
- 10:23think are going to make it. I mean, I remember looking at
- 10:26this Bruins lineup, I think it was one of the first episodes
- 10:30when you went to Korea, Jakey. And I remember, I remember
- 10:34telling Josh, maybe it was even before that.
- 10:36Maybe we were all three of us still there.
- 10:37But being like, I look at this lineup, but this is not a
- 10:39playoff team to me. Like they were at the time.
- 10:41They were top of the division and felt like and we were all
- 10:44like, OK, like, I guess never count on Boston type of thing.
- 10:46And like, obviously I think Boston is a team that's always,
- 10:48always wants to compete and there's value to that.
- 10:51Where like their assets are going to be strong in the team
- 10:53itself is gonna try to pull one put wins together never gonna
- 10:55tank. But if you look on paper like
- 10:58Steve's line 1, like what what do we?
- 11:01I'm not in no shade against Steves himself.
- 11:03Like he actually has like kind of decent fantasy value for like
- 11:05the name and whatever, but there's just so much lack of
- 11:09depth here that I don't see this team being in the playoff race.
- 11:13And they were for so long. And now I think we're starting
- 11:15to see like their value kind of like regress, regress, regress
- 11:18boat goes down. We talked about both GOAT was
- 11:21really up, water drying out, both coming down.
- 11:24So I'm still I'm still happy with with Pasta and geeky and
- 11:28like, even though their production over the last two
- 11:30weeks has definitely faltered. I want them while my team for
- 11:33like the playoffs because they have like that elite playoff
- 11:35schedule. Like we talk about the Rangers
- 11:36all the time, like they have that 444 in week 21 to 23, but
- 11:40there only tempering expectations.
- 11:41And I think we we we're encouraging you guys to
- 11:44capitalize on the sell high and it fell.
- 11:47It feels bad because they were holding this value for like 2
- 11:49months, but at a certain point you have to trust like your gut
- 11:52and your projections on these players.
- 11:53And like I don't think Geek is a point per game player.
- 11:56That's what he was averaging for two months of the year.
- 11:59Now I think last year was a .7. Maybe he ends the season at .8.
- 12:03That's still really good for where you got them in your
- 12:05drafts or off waivers even. But if you could have
- 12:07capitalized on him selling at the .1 value, 1.3 in value, then
- 12:12yeah. But I'm I'm more happy with the
- 12:15Boston guys on my roster than the Ducks guys on my roster, if
- 12:18that makes sense. Yeah, I mean, one thing with
- 12:21Boston, like you mentioned, is that they have an elite playoff
- 12:23schedule weeks 21 to 23. They have four games all three
- 12:25of those weeks. So honestly, if they go through
- 12:28a rough stretch, then I'm trying to buy low on all these guys.
- 12:31I mean, obviously anytime you can buy low on Pasternak is a
- 12:33huge win. So if he keeps being slow for
- 12:35the next week or two and you can send, you know, like your second
- 12:38or third round pick who's over performing for pasta, I'm doing
- 12:41that in a heartbeat and geeky as well.
- 12:44If he slows down, then I wouldn't mind buying low on him.
- 12:47I definitely don't want to touch him with what he's been doing
- 12:48lately just because he's been so good.
- 12:50I actually sold high on him even though I still love him.
- 12:52I think he I think he's gonna be a really, really solid rest this
- 12:54season. But he was a clear cell high.
- 12:56Macavoy I think you can buy on. He's just a solid guy.
- 12:59Like to have on your team power play 1 and and gets good bangers
- 13:02and swim as well. Like just the really the playoff
- 13:04schedule and the fact that these top assets, like even if they
- 13:08might not do as well as they did at the start of the season,
- 13:10they're still going to be really good.
- 13:11I'm looking to buy all these guys if they keep being slow.
- 13:16For the right price. For the right price, always.
- 13:19OK, here's an interesting 1. I feel like this is just all
- 13:22throughout the year we're getting questions on some
- 13:24Colorado Avalanche guys such as Val Nichushkin, Gabe Landeskog,
- 13:28Arteria Lebanon, Brock Nelson. The reason I included these four
- 13:31guys specifically is because this is what it feels like is
- 13:33the the carousel of power play one, right?
- 13:35So you've got 2 open spots because the locks are McKinnon,
- 13:38Mccarran, Niches. And it just seems like on any
- 13:41given night, any given week, two of these four guys are going to
- 13:44be there and it's never going to be the same ones.
- 13:46So what do you say to people about, you know, how to value
- 13:49these guys? What should they do if they have
- 13:50one and he's on power play one, he's not on power play 1, they
- 13:54can drop, they can make a trade. Like, what do you, what do you
- 13:55do with these types of guys, huh?
- 14:00I mean, I was going to say like this, these values for these
- 14:03guys are are it's all deployment based, right?
- 14:06And the issue is that deployment fluctuates.
- 14:08So you don't wanna have to like make a move on waivers like pick
- 14:11up this guy, drop this guy, pick up this guy, drop this guy every
- 14:13time following the line combinations.
- 14:15So the ones that I think have the steadiest deployment, I
- 14:18mean, we know Nelson is going to be the line 2C.
- 14:21Like we know that's kind of set there.
- 14:23All these guys should be the top six.
- 14:24It feels like like that feels like a safe bet to make the big
- 14:27question on this call right now. Seems like the guy is like the
- 14:30one with the most sure thing deployment and it's been a few
- 14:34weeks now that he's on CPU one and that he's playing with
- 14:36McKinnon on line 1. And I think that's just such a
- 14:39valuable spot specifically because he's also left wing,
- 14:41right wing and getting face offs out of it as well.
- 14:43Like that's always a huge bonus. He's not even centre eligible
- 14:46yet and he's getting face off wins.
- 14:48So if you're in the accounts face off and I think he's even
- 14:50extra valuable and he's shooting a lot too.
- 14:53Like I'm very surprised by his shot quantity as well.
- 14:56So he's covering those bangs. It's very Boone Jenner
- 14:58reminiscent for me in my opinion, except with more points
- 15:01upside given who's playing with. I think she's the one that I
- 15:04want the most out of this group. Right now.
- 15:06For me, it's Landis Cog, Nelson, Lechner, Nichushkin.
- 15:10Yeah, but keep in mind, literally, let's say tonight,
- 15:14you know, yeah, news comes out, Nichushkin and Lacking are now
- 15:16on power play 1. Landeskog Nelson to power play
- 15:182, your value immediately flips. So for me, I don't particularly
- 15:22want any of these guys on my team.
- 15:24What I wanna be doing is I wanna be whichever ones I do have on
- 15:27my team, I want to sell while they're on power play 1.
- 15:31And if you got, if you have one of them and he's not on power
- 15:33play 1, then I'm depending on how deep league is, sometimes
- 15:36they could just be a drop. But for the most part I'm
- 15:38holding until they get that power play deployment back
- 15:40because it will happen at some point.
- 15:41Wait for them to rack up a week or two of solid points and then
- 15:44just sell them. Like I'm and the second one of
- 15:46these guys I have gets on power play 1 and puts on some good
- 15:49deployment, some good points. I'm selling them, it's just not
- 15:52worth the headache all year. Yeah, I think stand alone
- 15:57Nichushkin kinda has the least amount of reliance on the others
- 16:02to be good. Yeah, but he also has a pretty.
- 16:05Low floor, Yeah, he is the best player I sort of, but yet.
- 16:09But he's one of the least. Yeah, yeah, like, yet I still
- 16:12agree with your rankings in a way, because Nelson has the
- 16:15highest floor, I think has the lowest ceiling.
- 16:17And and Landeskog though, to me, there's like just something
- 16:23special about the fact that he's on the team again and stayed
- 16:28their captain the entire time he was away.
- 16:30And now he's playing with McKinnon.
- 16:32Like, it's not like they need to get it going.
- 16:34Like he's a team player, he'll wanna get it done regardless.
- 16:37But I I think that that Landeskog is the highest chance
- 16:41of playing with McKinnon for the duration of the season.
- 16:45You know what I mean? Like it'll still fluctuate, but
- 16:48and even if the the power plays in the question, I think that
- 16:50the the short, the even strength exposure that Landeskog is gonna
- 16:54have to McKinnon makes him my favorite of the bunch because I
- 16:58think that's the most likely. And then there's nature, who's
- 17:00just the best person ever made so.
- 17:02Yeah, no, I mean, like I agree with you guys as rankings.
- 17:06It's just in my mind, like, do you wanna hold a guy who like
- 17:10and the playoffs could just get demoted to properly to and
- 17:12immediately lose all value? Or would you rather bank it for
- 17:15a guy who's just guaranteed to have that deployment?
- 17:17You know, so like, even though. The upside of the bank it I want
- 17:21to, but it's like who are you? Who's realistic in the trade
- 17:25that it's raining? Here, but you might not agree
- 17:27with I'd rather have Troy Terry than any of these guys.
- 17:31Hmm. I'd rather have more detail,
- 17:35obviously, but I think that's probably.
- 17:36Yeah, would I think I'd rather land this cog over over Troy
- 17:40Terry. Yeah.
- 17:42Maybe I'm just, maybe I'm just buying too much into the hype of
- 17:44the recent production. I just, I just don't believe
- 17:47that it's gonna be the whole season.
- 17:48I think as long as Landeskog has this deployment, I prefer him
- 17:51over Terry, especially because Terry has the bad deployment
- 17:53right now. But if you like, I had to guess
- 17:55which one of. Them, I'm assuming Terry, like
- 17:57line 2 power play 130. Yeah, that's what I'm kind of
- 18:00assuming. Yeah, come play off time, I
- 18:02don't, I think the deployment you'd much rather have Troy
- 18:04Terry. But then if if come playoff
- 18:06time, Landeskog is line 1P1, to me it's like not even a
- 18:09question. I'd rather him.
- 18:10So I'm taking the chance on. I'm taking the gamble.
- 18:13I just don't think it's worth taking the gamble because even
- 18:15line one power play 1 Landeskog is not going to be point per
- 18:17game. Troy Terry can be point per
- 18:19game. OK, but give me, let me give you
- 18:22the situation. You're stuck with Troy Terrace
- 18:24with the playoffs, or you're able to have Landis Cog and if
- 18:28he loses deployment, you're able to pick up Mason Marchman who is
- 18:31line 1P1. But I mean that that situation
- 18:33doesn't make sense because I can also pick up Mason Marchment if
- 18:36I have Troy Terry instead of Landeskog.
- 18:37I know, but you're saying that you're less likely to do that if
- 18:40Troy Terry has a good deployment because you're gonna be like,
- 18:42OK, I'm not gonna drop Troy Terry for another guy that has
- 18:43equal deployment. I'm just gonna take the chance
- 18:45on the guy that I rolled with the whole season where land is
- 18:48call. You won't feel bad about cutting
- 18:49if you gets the bad deployment. Yeah, but I mean, Terry has the
- 18:52good deployment then. Then I'm happy to hold him.
- 18:55Like I'd rather have him than mice Marchman.
- 18:57But I think, I think the difference is so small that I
- 19:00don't I don't care if that's my backup option, whereas I want
- 19:04the chance that the upside Atlanta is called is gonna give
- 19:06me if he has a good deployment come playoff time.
- 19:09I guess I disagree. I think I think you're too low
- 19:11on Terry. I saw you telling people to to
- 19:13drop him in the discord and I'm just like OK, like if you look
- 19:16at. This game log and people were
- 19:17dropping for like actually good players.
- 19:19No, I know, I know. But for me?
- 19:21Like somebody was. Nobody had Horvat and Elise
- 19:23Peterson on their waivers, and I was.
- 19:25Just like, yeah. You could cut Troy Terry for
- 19:27them, you know. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:28But in a league as deep as ours, like I'm, I'm trying to buy
- 19:31super hard and I would take him over any of these Colorado guys,
- 19:33but but that's just me. Let's got to go to the one.
- 19:38I think Landeskog is the one that I would just rather take A
- 19:40chance on over, but I agree with the other 3.
- 19:43The thing is, even Landeskog, like I like what he's been doing
- 19:45in Bangers Cats, but I think if he loses his deployment that
- 19:48goes down as well. So I don't think any part of
- 19:50what he's doing is guaranteed. But it's a mixture of like early
- 19:55season, like he wasn't necessarily playing at his full
- 19:57potential yet either. So like now he's like full
- 19:59potential plus good deployment. What does full potential with
- 20:03lesser deployment look like too? Like we don't know that that's
- 20:05scenario yet. But I don't know, I just.
- 20:08Also Colorado just an insane team.
- 20:09Like if I have the chance of getting a guys playing with
- 20:11McKinnon and Mccarr, like I want that chance.
- 20:14I guess I don't know, I just think that Landeskog ceiling is
- 20:17what Terry's just gonna do. So that's why I'd rather just
- 20:20take Terry. But uh, but I can see, I can see
- 20:23why you know, you want that deployment for sure something
- 20:25it's it's guaranteed. Alright, let's go to the next
- 20:28one we've got. I mean this we've touched on on
- 20:30a decent amount, but felt like I just had to include as a hot
- 20:33topic. You've got Steven Stamkos, UC
- 20:34Cyros, Ryan O'Reilly. What's going on with Nashville?
- 20:37Is this real? Is it not?
- 20:39Do we sell? Do we just enjoy?
- 20:42What do you think you sell? You sell as soon as possible.
- 20:44Guys like where were you? Just lived it with Anaheim.
- 20:46We lived it with all these other teams that were so hot that were
- 20:49not as good as they were playing as Nashville is just the team
- 20:53right now that over the last month or so, like they've been
- 20:55elite. It's it's crazy to say like with
- 20:57how bad their Rosser looks and, and you know how bad it's been
- 21:01in the last few years right now over the last month or like
- 21:03winning a lot of games and it's giving you the opportunity to
- 21:06sell on these guys whether you can actually, like a lot of
- 21:09people still have the stink like Rhino Riley, still less than 40%
- 21:12owned. So like who's realistically
- 21:13buying at that point? I think Stamkos 2 is available
- 21:15in the in a lot of leagues and he's probably the the national
- 21:18predator with the most value right now.
- 21:20So I'm I'm trying to sell for anything I can.
- 21:23And I think that your best opportunity to sell isn't a
- 21:24package like make it a 2 for two where you know he's not the
- 21:27centerpiece of the trade, but he's pulling a lot of weight as
- 21:29like the 1B of the trade and get something done sorrows.
- 21:33I'm highlighting it as a cell highlight.
- 21:35He was a drop earlier in the year.
- 21:36Now you have the opportunity to sell high on him and get a guy
- 21:38that you know he's gonna be on your offer the whole season that
- 21:41listen, all goalies are inconsistent.
- 21:43So when anybody showing any kind of consistency either way like
- 21:46it's due for regression. Yeah.
- 21:49Yeah. So so I I actually do agree for
- 21:53fantasy with that for sure. The one thing though, is like
- 21:57IRL, and I don't think they're a good team.
- 21:59Like I'm pretty sure I had them bottom of the central in my
- 22:02predictions this year. But we also know that when they
- 22:07traded for all these guys, like they were, they were like they
- 22:10were supposed to be pretty good. Did it just take this long to
- 22:13come together? And are they now going to like,
- 22:15make a push for the playoffs? No, I, I don't think so, but I
- 22:22get, I think that storyline and that possibility is why you
- 22:25could possibly sell high on these guys because you can be
- 22:28like, look, this isn't like just a random garbage team of garbage
- 22:30players that is randomly turning it on.
- 22:32These were guys who were supposed to be good, then became
- 22:35garbage and now they're playing good again.
- 22:36So you can be like, look, it's, it's happening.
- 22:38They just took them a year to, to figure it out.
- 22:40So I think I don't believe in that, but I do think you can use
- 22:43that to your advantage. Yeah, I I learn where you guys
- 22:46are with that. The thing is that I I mean, you
- 22:49saw Trotz said he was like, I need more out of this group.
- 22:52I know there's something there like we can, we can.
- 22:54What's he gonna say to being a good team?
- 22:56Well, it could just, I mean. Less out of this group and
- 23:00everybody. So do you do you think that this
- 23:02like behind the scenes, this recent production from Stamkos
- 23:05is essentially just an audition to like get traded somewhere
- 23:07else? I don't think it's only an
- 23:09audition like, but I think it it ends up being one.
- 23:14OK. Yeah, Sense.
- 23:15Yeah, I mean, the one thing that I kind of like about their
- 23:19fantasy value more now than I did before is that at least like
- 23:22they're all playing on the top line together.
- 23:24Four, Yeah. O'Reilly and Stamkos, that's
- 23:26something that they haven't done.
- 23:28So that can actually also add to the cell high of it all.
- 23:32But yeah, I mean, I, I don't believe in them.
- 23:35But I wouldn't think Soros needs to be traded like.
- 23:38Yeah, he's the biggest. Selling.
- 23:40I mean, you gotta try it, try to treat him.
- 23:42Yes, he's the biggest seller to me because I don't think they're
- 23:44gonna win that many games, but it doesn't necessarily mean that
- 23:47Stamkos is production is going to be as horrifically bad as it
- 23:51has been in the past. Year and a half, right?
- 23:53Look, I can see him being someone that actually stays on
- 23:55your roster, which is way more than I've said about him for the
- 23:58past few months. I don't think he's gonna be
- 24:00anywhere near what he's doing now, though.
- 24:02Yeah, yeah. Alright, lastly, we've got Zach
- 24:06Hyman slash, Ryan Nugent Hopkins, AK McDavid and
- 24:09Draisaitl beneficiaries that those two guys are going nuts.
- 24:13McDavid Dreidel, they've got like 55 points combined in the
- 24:17last like 12 games. It's just nuts.
- 24:19And when you've got a guy in human and Ryan Nugent, Hopkins
- 24:21who are on that power, play one with them, get to play with them
- 24:24at even strength, they're going to get a bunch of points as
- 24:26well. So these guys are doing really
- 24:27well too. So what do we think about them?
- 24:30Do we think they're sell highs? Do we think that we're just
- 24:32happy to be along for the ride, McDavid and Dreidel, and just
- 24:35enjoy having guys with that deployment?
- 24:37What do you think? I mean, I'm happy that I have
- 24:40them on my roster, but you're selling high like you.
- 24:43You can't make Davis averaging close to three points per game
- 24:45over the last month. This is ridiculous.
- 24:48Yes, McDavid is arguably the best player in hockey.
- 24:52Like it's him and McKinnon the top 2.
- 24:55And if McKinnon was doing this, I'd still say the same thing.
- 24:58I'd be like all the surrounding assets are benefiting from his
- 25:00production right now. Like, yeah, that means they're
- 25:02still elite assets. Like they're still top 20
- 25:05players potentially like in in fantasy, but I'm trying to trade
- 25:09them for guys that I know are gonna be there.
- 25:11Even when the production regresses from a from Hyman and
- 25:14and like I think Nuge, he's a consistent sell high every time
- 25:17he hovers around a point per game trying to get him off my
- 25:19roster because he doesn't have any category coverage, just part
- 25:21of the merchant. Cyman has some category coverage
- 25:23to him. I feel he's like a better asset
- 25:26to own. But I'm still trying to
- 25:27capitalize on this extra production right now and get
- 25:29somebody that I actually can be really good rest of season that
- 25:32I know is gonna have the same ceiling but the higher floor as
- 25:36well. Yeah.
- 25:38Yeah, it's just, it's like I, I mean, and, and Kevin's been the
- 25:43highest, I would say on Hyman of all of us.
- 25:47Like maybe when he. Yeah.
- 25:49And like, you know, like, yeah, and even that's yeah, you know,
- 25:55it's crazy that he just doesn't hit at all anymore.
- 25:58Like what is that? He has like over his past five
- 26:04games, he has one hit that yeah, it's crazy.
- 26:07It's actually absurd. So while I while I think that
- 26:11they're obviously gonna slow down and that's part of it.
- 26:14I mean, it's it's tough because Hyman could could have these
- 26:19like a season average is a point per game.
- 26:21Like I don't think that that's crazy impossible.
- 26:23His last two weeks average is basically 1 1/2 points per game,
- 26:27which is ridiculous. So you you should sell, but it's
- 26:32got to be a very good return. Like do you think it's out of
- 26:35the question to get natures back?
- 26:38Michael still been really good. So I think that I know that's
- 26:40tough. You could get like you Hyman,
- 26:42Hyman or Nylander. I'll definitely take Nylander.
- 26:46Yeah, can easily get done right now.
- 26:48I like that a lot, yeah. I yeah, I mean Nylander, I mean,
- 26:53it's just been super tough in Toronto overall, but yeah, I
- 26:56think that I I'm much. More familiar with Joe?
- 27:00Johnston for sure. Johnson I'm more confident
- 27:02having hymen than than nudge, though.
- 27:05Like, I like him. Yeah, yeah, 100% huge.
- 27:07So I'm gonna bring it more. Brat.
- 27:11People are going crazy for saying that.
- 27:13People say we're crazy for saying that you could get Brad.
- 27:16Plus, absolutely you could. I think that would be an amazing
- 27:18trade. Yeah, I would do that.
- 27:20That's a really good bylaws so high.
- 27:22Yeah, those were all great names.
- 27:24OK, let's hop into some questions for this week.
- 27:28So let's kind of rapid fire some of these if we can.
- 27:31Joshua Furon on Discord asked how does FAB work and what's
- 27:34your strategy for using it? So FAB is free agent bucks in
- 27:38our league. We get $100 budget to start this
- 27:40season and then all our pickups are next day pick up.
- 27:43So we put in a claim for tonight and then it'll come in the next
- 27:46day. And then you could choose to put
- 27:47in $0.00 or you could choose to put in however many dollars you
- 27:50want from your limited budget. And then if you and another
- 27:53person both bid on the same person, whoever put in the most
- 27:55money will get that player and waiver priority is the
- 27:58tiebreaker. So that's kind of a quick
- 28:00rundown of how FAB works. What's your strategy?
- 28:02For me personally, I think there three big times where you want
- 28:05to be spending FAB. One is the start of the season
- 28:08when values are kind of all over the place and you can really
- 28:10find gold. 2 is trade deadline. I think crazy stuff happens at
- 28:15the trade deadline and that's where you know you want to have
- 28:17some FAB to to spend. And three is the playoffs.
- 28:20If you want to make good streamer pickups, then your
- 28:22opponent you know is going to pick up similar people, then you
- 28:24can use your FAB to to get the edge there.
- 28:26So for me, that's kind of my strategy.
- 28:29Yeah. And I think the FAB system, I
- 28:31think it's very unpopular in fantasy hockey.
- 28:35I know I started from fantasy football where FAB is like very
- 28:38popular. And when I came to hockey, it
- 28:42was kind of like it was hard to convince people that I think the
- 28:46FAB system is is worth it and and useful.
- 28:50But when in our league of record, like people were staying
- 28:53up until 3:00 AM or like going to bed at 10, putting alarms to
- 28:56wake up in the middle of the night to make pickups for
- 28:58separate days. And some people are on the West
- 29:00Coast. So for them, like it's a huge
- 29:01advantage too because for them it's midnight, whereas East
- 29:03Coast is like 3:00 AM. So to me it was like a no
- 29:07brainer. It removes the first come first
- 29:09serve aspect of hockey in general, where it's like, OK,
- 29:14because you were on your phone at the time of like a injury,
- 29:18you're able to get this guy that's like gonna be a game
- 29:20changer. Like imagine Mackenzie Blackwood
- 29:22got traded last season and you were the you have owner at the
- 29:27time, I guess, or whatever and and you miss out on that because
- 29:31you were at work. You know what I mean?
- 29:32Like it's just one of those things that it kind of evens the
- 29:35playing field and allows people to also have a strategy in terms
- 29:38of like, how much money am I worth?
- 29:40Am I gonna spend on this guy? Same opportunity I dropped 51
- 29:45fab of our $100 fab budget on Blackwood and it ended up being
- 29:50like the best pickup of the year like totally worth it.
- 29:52So it's. Just save Joshua season because
- 29:54he went pure 0G and he was able to pick up like a guy that ended
- 29:57up being like a top five at goalie for his fantasy team.
- 29:59So all these are pros for the fab system in general.
- 30:02I think yeah, there's something nice about waiting day of the
- 30:06senior goalie getting confirmed and picking up and for a stream
- 30:08or or whatever. Like that's a very fun aspect
- 30:10too. But I think in terms of like the
- 30:12competitive integrity, that system is not as good as the fab
- 30:16system. And I think that's kind of like
- 30:18when you're playing for a lot of money, especially in your
- 30:20fantasy leagues or you know, you're trying to just be
- 30:22competitive in general, I think you want to kind of prioritize
- 30:25competitive integrity. And I think it was.
- 30:27There was some obstacles in the beginning of getting people on
- 30:29board, but I feel like now it's been three years we have in our
- 30:31league, I think everybody's happy with it.
- 30:33Yeah. It's amazing, like it used to be
- 30:36in our league that you pick up somebody and then you could pick
- 30:39him up the day of, but he's only on your roster the next day.
- 30:42And then some other leagues that I've been in have it, you pick
- 30:45them up and then these on your roster the same day.
- 30:48So what we did was essentially you can add and then they're
- 30:51they're only on your team the next day, which like, of course,
- 30:53sometimes, like you said, it's OK waiting to have the goalie
- 30:56confirmed. It's great.
- 30:57But this works a lot better. And you can also draw up a
- 31:00player on the same day. So if you have to activate
- 31:02someone from IR, it's that way. So it's what's called continuous
- 31:05rolling waiver system. That's like the important thing
- 31:08is that you can, there's always you have to wait till the next
- 31:12day for the pickup. There's a good amount of
- 31:14strategy that's involved in that.
- 31:15Like you said, it's evens the playing field almost entirely
- 31:18and as far as how I spend my FAB, I agree with Josh's list of
- 31:23three. The goalie 1 is also I would say
- 31:25like a nice fourth there. The one thing is that for
- 31:29football, the first two weeks of FAB, like people spend all of it
- 31:32basically for hockey, you have to actually be so much strategic
- 31:34and how you even it out. I've probably spent a total of
- 31:37like 17 on shelves this year and he's not.
- 31:39Even on my team anymore. So you you can't be too afraid
- 31:42of making mistakes, but also don't do that.
- 31:46And at the same time, like, I got busy, like, I don't think
- 31:48like 3. And now he may be the starter on
- 31:50Carolina. So sometimes it's like, not an
- 31:52exact science. Hello Tails.
- 31:54Before the injury though, obviously but.
- 31:55Yes, yeah, yeah, exactly. But but yeah, there's like right
- 32:00now he would be worth like 30 type thing, which is let's say
- 32:033030% of your FAB or 40. So yeah, it's really fun and you
- 32:07should try it in your league if you haven't it.
- 32:09It makes it a lot more interesting and strategic.
- 32:12Yeah. And all the bigger management
- 32:13leagues next year will have the same fab system as our banking
- 32:16management lease. So everybody can look forward to
- 32:18that. Yeah, alright, Frank on Discord
- 32:21asked what's your opinion on brackets versus reseeding as
- 32:24playoff formats for both fantasy and in the real NHL.
- 32:27For me, it's receding should be always.
- 32:30I hate that the NHL changed to brackets.
- 32:32I think it makes it so boring. Like we're gonna get another
- 32:34year of Edmonton, LA and it's just dumb.
- 32:37And it's a we're also going to get you have Colorado, Dallas
- 32:40and Minnesota, 3 best teams in the NHL.
- 32:43Only one of them is making it to the third round.
- 32:45Only two of them are making it to the second round because of
- 32:46the way that that the brackets work.
- 32:49So for me receding is is definitely the best.
- 32:52Yeah, that'd be fun. I think for fantasy as well, I
- 32:54think reseating is is great. It adds an extra element to, you
- 32:58know, make you care about the regular season and like a lot of
- 33:03leagues probably have six teams making the playoffs.
- 33:05So you already care about, you know, being in the top 2 so you
- 33:07can get that by week. But in our league of record, we
- 33:09have 14 teams, 8 make the playoffs.
- 33:12So having the reseeding really helps because you don't get a
- 33:14bye week if you're in the top, but you end up playing against
- 33:18doors teams. So you get an advantage there.
- 33:20And what I really love about category leagues as well is
- 33:23that, you know, you don't have to buy week, but you get the
- 33:26tiebreaker. So we have 15 categories in our
- 33:29in our league of record. One of them is shut out, one of
- 33:32them shorthanded points, which have the most like the, the
- 33:35smallest number of quantity in that, you know, category.
- 33:38So very often times those end in draws.
- 33:40So 13 categories up for grabs. But if you end up getting 1 and
- 33:44you get a tie breaker, a lot of matches and like 7-7, it'll be
- 33:48tiebreaker for whoever has the higher seed.
- 33:50So it's like an added incentive. I I really like that element of
- 33:53category leagues where, you know, receding plus a
- 33:56tiebreaker. Yeah.
- 33:59Cause in points it's gonna be like never that too.
- 34:01Yeah, gonna are gonna end up with the same amount of points
- 34:03on the at the end of the week. Like it's almost impossible.
- 34:05Yeah, OK, Ace on Discord asked dynasty question for when Jake
- 34:09he returns. It's like he he called it.
- 34:12Who are three younger players slash prospects you're excited
- 34:16about across the league? OK, well, I'll put you on the
- 34:22spot, but. Well the man was out of out of
- 34:25the country for like the last like 3.
- 34:26Weeks. So I would say like, like to me,
- 34:30if you're starting a dynasty league right now, there's a
- 34:34world in which I have Celebrity and Bedard in my top three.
- 34:40OK, sure, drawing would be 1. Over Siddle, it really over
- 34:45Mcdata. Dynasty, yeah.
- 34:48I'm, I'm still taking McDavid, McKinnon, Macar, Dry Sidal like
- 34:53in in dynasty, even though it's dynasty, I was just treated for
- 34:58celebrity. That's little biased, but like
- 35:00these guys are all first round picks.
- 35:01But I'm taking the guys that have been averaging a 1.5 points
- 35:04per game for like the last 10 years and I'm thinking on them
- 35:07doing that for like the next five years at.
- 35:08Least I think this question was more geared to like who are guys
- 35:11who may be having small broken into the NHL that you'd be
- 35:14excited for over the coming years.
- 35:16And that's why he asked Jake, because Jake knows all the
- 35:18junior guys. Yeah.
- 35:22So I, I think, I think one name to think about is James Higgins.
- 35:29He has the opportunity to play with Pasternak for the next few
- 35:33years depending on when he comes up to the NHL.
- 35:35Because they like, I, I know Lynn home has been serviceable,
- 35:37but like really they don't have like a solid #1C.
- 35:42And I think they dropped him to be that guy.
- 35:44I also that that's that's one from this past draft class.
- 35:50Another one. I mean, I think Misa could be.
- 35:53About anything Misa as well. Yeah, MISA could be amazing,
- 35:57especially considering how incredible you already see
- 36:02celebrity is, so that could be really, really nice.
- 36:05And you can easily take one big spot on that power Play 1.
- 36:09Yes, yeah, fully. I mean, I wouldn't even be
- 36:11surprised if he makes an appearance later this year.
- 36:14But like, like, don't judge that for what's gonna be in the
- 36:19future. And someone who hasn't really
- 36:23broken. Oh, actually, I haven't.
- 36:26I haven't. Even better name Cole Hudson.
- 36:29Now, now, this is a believer. Spicy.
- 36:31Yeah, this is spicy because like, unlike Lane Hudson, who
- 36:34came into an ideal situation in Montreal, Kohl's going to a
- 36:38situation that has Carlson, at least for now.
- 36:40And and Jacob Chicken is going to be a solid part of their
- 36:42future. So I just, I just see that they
- 36:47have similar collegic productions laying in coal.
- 36:49They're both in really, really good and.
- 36:52Same DNS. Yeah, I mean, it seems like they
- 36:56could they could have like similar career trajectories,
- 36:58even if it may take a little bit longer.
- 37:00So right now, like, I mean, he's definitely on your dynasty
- 37:05roster. I would assume in in football we
- 37:07have something called a taxi squad where you don't have to
- 37:09play the guy and you could just sort of keep him there.
- 37:12So he's like, yeah, he's like the number one taxi squad guy.
- 37:16Like I would say he could be really good.
- 37:18It just may take a little bit of time in the NHL.
- 37:20But once he gets going like I'd say like 2 years into his
- 37:23career, he could be really, really fun to have.
- 37:25Nice. We'll do a lot of dynasty
- 37:27content in the offseason. I think that's kind of like
- 37:29gonna be a lot of fun. A lot of people are really into
- 37:31that. That's where a lot of leagues
- 37:32start, before you know all the redrafts that get back into the
- 37:37fold. OK.
- 37:38Yeah, and let me just give me just give really quickly.
- 37:41I just want to give names from the past three draft classes
- 37:44that are already in the NHL that haven't done too well yet.
- 37:47Ryan Leonard. Lev Chanov And from this year
- 37:53it's a little bit tougher because the ones that are in the
- 37:55NHL, I mean like it's pretty much just a just Matthew
- 37:59Schaefer and I think he's gonna be insane so.
- 38:01Yeah, that's. That's that's kind of it.
- 38:03But those, those two that have already been in the NHL, I think
- 38:06that they're gonna have like really good careers.
- 38:08Yeah, I like that. OK Bertos, Pink sucker on
- 38:12discord asked who are the guys you end up drafting every year?
- 38:16Also, who have you kept drafting expecting a breakout but kept
- 38:18failing for the second part of it?
- 38:21I feel like Lafreniere Classic, right?
- 38:23Yeah, like every year. I mean, it's just answer to both
- 38:26parts of the question. Like I usually like stay away
- 38:30from Lafreniere but I fell for it this year because of the
- 38:32Rangers sick playoff schedule and I thought he had a shot at
- 38:35power play one because of what the coach was saying in the off
- 38:36season and they still have the six playoff schedule.
- 38:39He got time and power play one. Turns out he just sucks.
- 38:41So I fully have no more interest in Lafreniere because if he was
- 38:45never going to get more opportunity than this year.
- 38:48So that's my my breakout guy guy keep drafting every year.
- 38:52This year was the first year in like a while that I haven't
- 38:54drafted Romania OC. I got burned last year and I was
- 38:56like alright, never again. But but he used to be a guy who
- 38:59always finds his way on my team. I always draft the Bark Off.
- 39:03Bark Off is my guy. This year I did not have the
- 39:06opportunity to draft him. We drafted right after he got
- 39:08hurt, so he wasn't on my board. But every year I want Barkov on
- 39:12my team. I feel like he was the staple of
- 39:14my Ross, like the last three years it feels like.
- 39:15So she had last year Jackie had him, but he's he's my favorite
- 39:21player in the NHL. So I'm always trying to get him
- 39:22on my roster. I was even drafting with my a
- 39:24first round pick felt like 3 or 4 years ago.
- 39:28Yeah. And you were able to get him
- 39:30like the second in recent years. But he's still just always a
- 39:33stud. I always end up with him on my
- 39:35roster. I was also end up, I feel like
- 39:36killing Cousins in recent years or Josh Norris, like these guys
- 39:39always end up on my roster somehow.
- 39:41And in recent years? Yeah.
- 39:45This year I have all two of them.
- 39:47Yeah, what about you, Jakey, who always ends up on your team?
- 39:50Forsberg. Phil Yeah, that's.
- 39:52True, true. Yeah.
- 39:54I think he's just super good for Shaw's hits.
- 39:56And like every year also, I really want Brady to Chuck in
- 39:59the first round, and I don't take him because you're just.
- 40:03Too. Exactly.
- 40:04Yeah, sorry, things are too early, so poor Jake doesn't get
- 40:08to grab him. Kenan or McDavid or.
- 40:12Matthews or whatever, that's it. And I mean, I'm trying to come
- 40:15up with another name but but Laugh is the perfect perfect
- 40:19name for part. 2 of this question Slough like no laugh
- 40:22for like to break. Out.
- 40:23No, no, but yeah, too. Yeah.
- 40:26Sloth. Is kind of getting good though,
- 40:29and like the second-half every year he's decent.
- 40:34It's about laugh. OHS yeah Lafreniere just cause
- 40:39it's laugh and laugh are way too way too.
- 40:41Close. Yeah, I feel too oftentimes get
- 40:44Fiala, Josh or is that just last year?
- 40:48Um, I'm not sure if it was if it's more than last year, but I
- 40:51do feel like he always drops lower than I would expect for a
- 40:55guy who can like get close to point per game.
- 40:57But yeah, I'm trying to think if there's anyone else who like
- 41:00ends up on my team a lot, but I. Mean, I mean it's, but it's.
- 41:04Not find a way to trade top guys.
- 41:06Yeah exactly. I feel like McDavid and Matthew
- 41:08no Matthews actually ends up on my team almost every year at
- 41:12some point. Yeah, yeah, he does.
- 41:16He does. I wish I was gonna say it.
- 41:18Not exactly a breakout, but Lionel, I always think is gonna
- 41:20be good. It never is.
- 41:21Yeah. Lately I know he had a.
- 41:23Great day. So he had an amazing start to
- 41:25his career. But I keep thinking like new
- 41:27opportunity, new chance, like there's always a new storyline
- 41:30that makes me believe in lying. And it's just.
- 41:31Like, nice, it's just all right? Renkan on Discord asked.
- 41:36With Ketchup and Hughes coming off IR, who are the new best IR
- 41:39stashes to Target? JT Miller, Connor Bedard.
- 41:43I think JT Miller is one of the most accessible right now
- 41:45because he wasn't even popping off that hard before getting
- 41:47hurt. Yeah, you have the best playoff
- 41:49schedule and he's a banger beast.
- 41:51So in bangers, these really wanna target him.
- 41:53I think Bedard is still hard to acquire him because like how
- 41:56good he was before the injury. But he's a guy that like, if the
- 41:59team that has bad artists near the bottom of the table and then
- 42:01you need the production, they can't wait for him to get
- 42:03healthy again. He's one of the better stashes.
- 42:06Edmond, I think is a tricky one. Somebody was trying to trade.
- 42:10He was asking me if it was OK to trade Marchenko for Headman.
- 42:13That was like this is not even close like.
- 42:16I'm not interested in the admin unless unless you can get him
- 42:18for like peanuts or pick him up for free.
- 42:21So I, I really, I think JT Miller is, is the best one you
- 42:24can target. Would you trade Choice Terry for
- 42:26Hedman? Honestly, I'd rather have Terry,
- 42:29but but if you believe in headmen, it's not the end of the
- 42:32like. I think that's a fine trade to
- 42:33make. Yeah.
- 42:34I just don't particularly believe in heaven.
- 42:36Kempers are good, prices low. That's it.
- 42:40Like hopefully he comes back soon.
- 42:42Trying to think of guys who like might be a bit longer term, but
- 42:45I think JT. Fox used to be one of the best
- 42:47dashes, but now he's about to come back as well so.
- 42:49Yeah, alright, let's. Watch Jarvis.
- 42:54So that's actually a really good one.
- 42:55You're right. Jarvis is probably stops here
- 42:57one. It's still still unclear what
- 42:59his timeline is, but I tried to get him from Jackie and in our
- 43:03trade, but Jakey said no, even though he could be out for, you
- 43:07know, the whole season. But.
- 43:10My favorite is still JT just cause I think like he's the one
- 43:12that has the highest value and the most the most easily to
- 43:15acquire as well. Yeah, exactly.
- 43:17OK, SAC Notch on Discord asked As a recent member of the Bangor
- 43:21management community. Can you describe your imaginary
- 43:24friend Jake to me? He psychologist joined from the
- 43:30Apples and Gino's collab. So happy to have a happy to have
- 43:33people join the community and listen.
- 43:35You finally get to meet our third host that we were not
- 43:38lying about that is fully real and actually not AI or.
- 43:41Any show them your hands so they can show us not AI.
- 43:45Shake that booty jiggly so we know it's real.
- 43:48Exactly. Yeah, yeah, I'm a, I'm real
- 43:54life. That's all skills about
- 43:57yourself. People want to get to know you.
- 44:01I like long walks on the beach, I suppose.
- 44:04OK, nice. So he's very original.
- 44:09Let's move on. We've got Brian on Discord to
- 44:11ask this question earlier this year, but he wants to know if
- 44:13our answers have changed since then.
- 44:15Keep five of these guys for next year.
- 44:17Goals, assists, plus minus pin, probably points, game-winning
- 44:19goals, face off, win shot, hit blocks are the cats.
- 44:22He's 100% keeping Crosby. So keep four of the following
- 44:25guys. Reinhart, Forsberg, Genther
- 44:27Batherson, Dalene Bouchard. OK, so wait, is Crosby included
- 44:32in the five? Always keeping it so so like
- 44:35croppies, but he's. Saying so, four other ones.
- 44:37Out there for. Exactly.
- 44:38To me, Reinhart is a 100% you're keeping.
- 44:40Yeah, to me, Bouchard is a 100% you're keeping and Alina is a
- 44:43100% you're keeping. Agreed.
- 44:45So for me, that's 4. Then it's between.
- 44:47You have to choose one between Forsberg, Gunther and Batherson.
- 44:50Honestly. Like, I think you'll have a
- 44:52better idea near the end of the year, but if you have to choose,
- 44:55like in the near future, I think I'm leaning.
- 44:59I mean, Forsberg is the guy that you have to, like, convince
- 45:01yourself not to take. It feels like, right.
- 45:03It's just like, OK, yeah, the numbers point towards keeping
- 45:05Forsberg. But like, how big of a jump can
- 45:07the other the other guys take? I'm leaning Gunther Hayes.
- 45:12Gunther Forsberg. Batherson.
- 45:15Yeah, that's the world where Forsberg is the worst.
- 45:17Then this is my last race of the three, not because he's bad, but
- 45:19just I prefer the other two guys.
- 45:20Yeah. And then Forsberg I think is the
- 45:23more like guaranteed. Like it just feels crazy and not
- 45:25keep him again, they're just still feels like he's got that
- 45:27crazy upside and he's still super young, so he can just have
- 45:30that breakout year any year where it's going to be just
- 45:32insane. I'm still going Forestburg, I
- 45:34think, just to be on the safe side with the floor of the shots
- 45:36and hits. Yeah.
- 45:37But again, there could just pop off next year.
- 45:40Maybe, maybe and end of season like, you know, they traded Ryan
- 45:43O'Reilly, they traded Stamkos and you'll see is like still
- 45:47dealing with his injury stuff. Marshall was gone.
- 45:49Like maybe you deadlines you more Gunther than Forsberg at
- 45:52that point, but I agree Forsberg is the safer point.
- 45:55Yeah, yeah, I, I, I'm just gonna go with the same ones, except to
- 46:00me, like it's, it's a clear Forsberg unless like I, I think
- 46:07even with the trade, I, I mean, I just feel like they're
- 46:09stealing is what Forsberg kind of just does.
- 46:12Yeah, yeah. So that's that's it.
- 46:15So I'm just gonna yeah, those are mine as well.
- 46:17OK right now just what? Also asked what are your fantasy
- 46:20team names? He said his are the Crosby Show
- 46:232, Kachaks 1 Cup and Happy Kemper.
- 46:27Took the truck for One Cup. It's great, yeah.
- 46:29They're all, really. You have to make sure you have
- 46:32both of the contracts on your team or else or else doesn't
- 46:35count in my opinion, like does somebody in our in our league of
- 46:37record that has like a natural skin name that doesn't even have
- 46:39the true skin on their roster. And I'm just like, you can't,
- 46:42you can't do that man. That's.
- 46:43Not you gotta have the guy who you're making a pun off of.
- 46:46So for me, I yeah, go ahead, go for.
- 46:49OHS in mine is I have Panarin and my team was very tied to the
- 46:54success of the Rangers early on. So mine is the bread man rises.
- 46:58That's not the best name. I have a picture of bald
- 47:00Panarin. So it's also great because like
- 47:03with all your injuries, you were lowering the standings and it
- 47:05kind of like implies like the Reds gonna rise to the top, you
- 47:08know? So I think it's I think it's a
- 47:10great pun. I've got just like usually I do
- 47:14a pun on one of my players names.
- 47:16I often end up with Matthew. So I've been Stone cold Steve
- 47:19Austin for a bit, But but this year I'm just just went with
- 47:23Benjamin's dad's team because I had a baby and I figured a use
- 47:27that that good. And then I have a picture of my
- 47:29my my team picture is a picture of my baby sitting on the couch
- 47:32and then a Photoshop beer in his hand.
- 47:35It wasn't a real beer. Unfortunately not.
- 47:41Yeah, mine, mine is just like cause it's been that for awhile.
- 47:45It's Canada A, but I have another league that's actually
- 47:49like I'm partnered with one of my friends.
- 47:51That league name is Christopolis Michael.
- 47:56Oh my God, I love that. Should.
- 48:02Credits for all to him, but like, I thought that was
- 48:06actually hilarious. It's a mix of Rick and Morty and
- 48:10Mike Kostopoulos, the goat of the Habs.
- 48:11So. I've changed, I've tried to do
- 48:14the whole pun thing and every time I do my team just loses
- 48:18weeks. So I've just, I'm not.
- 48:20You gotta stick with. Superstitious, but yeah, just.
- 48:23Little stitches. Yeah, this is the.
- 48:25Team that I lose in the finals with almost every year so I
- 48:28gotta stick with it. Gotta stick with what works
- 48:34alright. Berto's Pink Soccer on discord
- 48:36asked how many players is too many to stack on the same team.
- 48:39Slash line slash power play. For me it's the Max I'm going is
- 48:433 and even that I feel is a lot. But before the end of the day,
- 48:47at the end of the day, I'm not going to like lose value to
- 48:51avoid a big stack, but I'm also like, I really don't want to
- 48:55have more than three guys off of a stack.
- 48:58Yeah, I mean, I have multiple stacks on my league record team
- 49:01this year. I mean, I started the year with
- 49:03the I had Sanderson, Brady Kuchuk, Drake Batherson and
- 49:06Dylan Cousins. So that's not all playing.
- 49:09Too much. But that was 4 out of the five.
- 49:11I mean, I would still be happy with if I still had Sanders on
- 49:13my team. I ended up being able to trade
- 49:14him and got Reinhart and Brat. Not the one for two.
- 49:18It was a pretty forward. It was not.
- 49:22But yeah, I think 3 is a good number.
- 49:25Also on on the Rangers, I have Panarin, tro chicken, Will
- 49:28Cooley, who that's surprisingly three 3/5 of the Power Rangers,
- 49:33which I did not expect. I thought that would be 1/5 of
- 49:35the power play, one for the Rangers.
- 49:36So. Yeah.
- 49:38Yeah, I'm happy with. The three, but I don't like
- 49:40having three on the same line. That's one thing if like I'd
- 49:44rather 2 forwards in a defenseman.
- 49:47Yeah, I'm never avoiding it, but I'm never like consciously like
- 49:52overlooking a player if I think the value is right because I
- 49:55have played on the same team. But if I have the option, then I
- 49:59don't hate diversifying a little bit.
- 50:01Yeah. OK, Joshua, if you're on Discord
- 50:04asked who would you want most to be a guest on your podcast?
- 50:07Is it Jakey? I am a part of the trio, I
- 50:12think. I'm.
- 50:14I think I'm the fries. I can't remember.
- 50:16Josh is the most. Like I said burger cause I got 2
- 50:23cheeks 2. Buns.
- 50:27That's exactly what you meant when you said I was a burger.
- 50:29Right. Yeah, and I bring all the boys
- 50:33to the yard, so. I just like fries.
- 50:40Yeah, who? Who would be a good podcast?
- 50:42Guy for me, so non hockey player I would think like Elliott
- 50:47Friedman would be cool, right? That's that would be great.
- 50:50That would be really cool hockey player wise.
- 50:53What hockey player would you guys want on the pod the most?
- 50:56I'm trying to think it would be like who has like the best like.
- 50:59Person I would want to do a podcast with Seth Jarvis.
- 51:02Oh yeah, that's a good one. Like I love his personality is
- 51:05one of my favorite players. I think the.
- 51:09Interview. It's such a good.
- 51:10Personality. If you hear this somehow we know
- 51:12you're on IR for a bit. So if you, if you wanna just
- 51:14come to you, if you go to Montreal, I'll go to Montreal
- 51:17and we'll all do it in person together.
- 51:19You know, we'll come to you Even so.
- 51:22So yeah, that's our. If anyone knows anyone who knows
- 51:25Seth Jarvis or anything like that, let's make this happen.
- 51:29The second on top of the list definitely gave say majority did
- 51:35Belardi. That would actually be insane.
- 51:39You have a large. Steve Baines.
- 51:41Oh my God. Or Brandon Bussey.
- 51:46These are all great answers. Yeah OK smell is 007 on Reddit
- 51:53asked is lacking in worth holding on to and A10 team
- 51:56league if he's my worst player and I want to open a streamer
- 51:58spot? I think he's easy to drop in A10
- 52:00team league if he's your worst player, especially without the
- 52:02power play one look, drop him and then you can pick him up
- 52:04later if you get to the deployment back.
- 52:07Yeah, yeah, this definitely power play one guys available on
- 52:09your on your waiver wire in 10 team league and be.
- 52:12Exact Windows. OK Griffin 281109 on Reddit asks
- 52:17what's going on with Malkin. Is he worth holding in my only
- 52:20IR spot or are there other IR stashes I'd be better off
- 52:22replacing him with? So first of all, I haven't heard
- 52:25any news about Mac and I don't know about you guys.
- 52:27I'm about timeline. So I feel like it's the type of
- 52:29thing where it's going to turn out of nowhere at some point.
- 52:32But in terms of our stashes, we mentioned kind of our top ones
- 52:35already. So, but I doubt those guys are
- 52:37available in terms of like IR guys who are like less than
- 52:41let's say 50% owned. I don't know if there's anyone
- 52:44that that like jumps to mind. I mean, Dylan Holloway, I'd
- 52:48rather have Holloway than Malkin.
- 52:49Is that a hot take? No, I thought too, I feel the
- 52:52same. So Zucker.
- 52:55I like soccer a lot, and that's one that he should return like,
- 52:58relatively soon, Yeah, rather than sucker arrest this season.
- 53:02But like, I still like Zucker a lot.
- 53:05We didn't talk about Will Smith as an IR stash.
- 53:08Oh true, that's a really good one.
- 53:10He's he's week to week as of as of mid-december he was week to
- 53:13week. So maybe I'm anticipating like a
- 53:16mid January return type of thing?
- 53:18OK, damn. Thing would rather would get
- 53:20even better than. Will Smith comes back.
- 53:22Yes, you will. And Matthews is officially
- 53:25day-to-day, so everything is sad I.
- 53:30Also honestly I also do like the Eden hill IR stash like I tried
- 53:34to get wire him the the manager was like.
- 53:36He doesn't do trades. He doesn't, he doesn't do
- 53:39trades. He also has like a full IR, like
- 53:42really would have helped him out.
- 53:44But no, no dice for me. But I really like that.
- 53:46I really like taking the chance on a 5050 goalie on one of the
- 53:49best teams in the league. I think that's great.
- 53:53Yeah, Great opportunity. OK Jet ski king 2292 on Reddit
- 53:57asked what's going on with Tavarus and BRAT.
- 53:58Are they worth holding Both these guys are huge billows.
- 54:01Absolutely worth holding onto if you don't have them.
- 54:03I would honestly target them if you have them, you just gotta be
- 54:06patient. Don't.
- 54:07Do not sell low on them. Massive, massive opportunity to
- 54:10buy low. If I have them, I'm not getting
- 54:12them. I'm not letting them get off my
- 54:13roster, to be honest, because you'll never get enough value
- 54:15that it makes sense. And these guys are about to
- 54:17bounce back, I can guarantee. You yeah, the only way to trade
- 54:20them is if like you can trade them with the other person
- 54:22baking in their full value and that would be a big mistake on
- 54:24the other person's part. So I don't think it really.
- 54:26Happens and if I don't have them, I'm really trying to
- 54:29acquire them guys like it's I think these are two of the
- 54:32surest bets to bounce back to being near point per game value.
- 54:35Yeah, well, Tavarus is actually sort of heated up.
- 54:38Like, yeah, he's massive by low from the last month.
- 54:42Like we even highlighted them on this podcast in our recent bylaw
- 54:45episodes. Bylaw Episodes.
- 54:47Yeah alright, last question Soup Ziegler on Reddit asked in a
- 54:51bangers league without face off win keep 3 of McDavid, Larkin,
- 54:53Trocheck, Norris, Kevin say the line for us because I want you
- 54:57to admit that who the not keep is?
- 55:00Listen, I'm not, I'm not a crazy person.
- 55:02Obviously it goes McDavid, Larkin, maybe you like out.
- 55:09No, obviously, obviously Norris is the cut you out of this for
- 55:12especially with no face off wins.
- 55:13I think and I think it'll maybe even the playing field a little
- 55:17bit. But I mean, no, I mean, these
- 55:19other three guys are way better than Norris, Yeah.
- 55:21So no, no question there, alright.
- 55:23I actually think Soup asked that question specifically.
- 55:27Like where's the line with Kevin and John this was?
- 55:30This was an easy question for Josh to just answering this
- 55:33score, but he wanted to put this in the podcast to hear me say
- 55:35this out. Loud.
- 55:36Actually, this is. This is such a Yeah.
- 55:39Like we could get, we get a lot of questions.
- 55:41We're trying to like tailor them and choose the ones that I think
- 55:43we can bring value or that are like not time sensitive.
- 55:45Like this is an easy one. I'm just like, Oh yeah, just no,
- 55:47don't keep Josh Norris. But.
- 55:49Josh, you heard that. You heard him say it.
- 55:51Everyone has a record that. It's gonna be a bit now, but
- 55:56yeah, no. Yeah, no, that, that's good.
- 55:58But that wraps us up for our Hot topics and mailbag episode.
- 56:02Thank you to everybody for listening, it's really great to
- 56:07be back with you all. I am not an imaginary friend, so
- 56:11that's real, but I just wanted to really hammer that point
- 56:16home. Follow.
- 56:18Wait, Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 56:20Don't. Follow.
- 56:22Yeah. Since you are the fries of the
- 56:25podcast, what type of fry are you?
- 56:30This was urgent. We had to, he had to stop and.
- 56:33Before before we wrap it up. Wait, wait.
- 56:36Important. What what?
- 56:38What fries are you, Josh? What milkshake are you?
- 56:42And then what burger am I? I like to think I'm a sweet
- 56:47potato fry. Wow, I see.
- 56:50Classy. I'm definitely a an Oreo vanilla
- 56:57based Oreo milkshake. That's a good answer.
- 57:00I was gonna say, I think I'm a, I'm a, I'm a Five Guys burger.
- 57:04Nice. That's the best one.
- 57:06Because you get some free peanuts thrown in.
- 57:10OK. I guess those free peanuts, it's
- 57:14the thing. I know, I know, I just never
- 57:15have the peanuts when I go. What, are you kidding me?
- 57:17That's my favorite part. I go scoop up way too many.
- 57:19I'm like, you can't stop me. These are free.
- 57:21You don't even get a burger, you just go and get peanuts and you
- 57:24leave. I just want there's like a whole
- 57:25trough of peanuts. You just go and you just grab
- 57:27them and put them in a bag. They can't do anything about it.
- 57:31You heard it here first. OK, employees are not paid
- 57:34enough to stop you. OK, Kevin and I went to like a
- 57:40wedding one day because basically our our friends and my
- 57:44girlfriend were invited to this wedding and they were invited to
- 57:47the whole thing. We were invited to the drinking
- 57:48and dancing after. So we went to a soccer game
- 57:50during the day. And then after that we were
- 57:52like, hey, are we gonna have any food by the time we go there?
- 57:54You know, let's just be safe. Let's go to five guys.
- 57:57So we go to five guys. Sorry.
- 57:59We were. In Spain, handfuls and handfuls
- 58:03of peanuts and like burger and then we're like, wow, that was
- 58:06good on the walk. Oh, bleep.
- 58:09He's like, what? I'm like, the bride has a severe
- 58:12peanut out. Like.
- 58:14I'm drinking, just ate like 2 tons of peanuts.
- 58:20And that's how Jake and Kevin ruined the wedding.
- 58:25So like I go home I think I brush my teeth like 5 times I I
- 58:29showered, I washed my face and like like when I saw the bride
- 58:34like I was about to just like bow and say congratulations.
- 58:39Anyway I gave her a hug she's fine.
- 58:41The wedding was great before now Five guys story I was I was a
- 58:48scary, scary few hours so. It's also like we were in Spain
- 58:52and we went to Five Guys for food.
- 58:54Like I feel like that's just so. Yeah, don't.
- 58:56Take it out for sure. Yeah, yeah.

- 1:00:02That was mine. Matthews is officially
- 1:00:04day-to-day. This is just so bad.
- 1:00:05This is like. You know this.
- 1:00:08Maybe this will undo the first trade where you completely
- 1:00:11fleeced me. OK, so.
- 1:00:12If anything even didn't fleece you, you just said it yourself.
- 1:00:16So much better than culture of Josh.
- 1:00:18Yeah, the Gus is far is the best player in the entire league.
- 1:00:21He's also. Her.
- 1:00:23Yeah, yeah, yeah. True.

- 1:00:35end of the season. Trade back.
- 1:00:37Can't wait to see. What count is 1?
- 1:00:39Yeah. You're well.
