- 0:45Speaker 2: That's quite an intro.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yes, I love it, cannot wait for you to see
- 0:51Speaker 1: my guests today. You all know are from the iconic
- 0:54Speaker 1: six feet under the Horrors of Dolores Roach one day
- 0:58Speaker 1: at a time and on Way Tony nominated for Real
- 1:02Speaker 1: Women have curves? I know or because she's my friend
- 1:05Speaker 1: and there's an abnormal amount of people on this planet
- 1:08Speaker 1: who think we are the same person.
- 1:10Speaker 2: So we're about to.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Blow your mind and show you that we are two individuals.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Justina Machina, who ya ah, my girl, Hello girl, literally
- 1:21Speaker 1: my sister from another mister.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Obviously, there we get mistaken all the time.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I love me and Goldta chronicles they love you on
- 1:28Speaker 3: one day at a time.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yes, that's just the way it happens with us.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I don't know anymore if anyone really loves my work,
- 1:35Speaker 1: or is it that they love your work.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I'm telling you what.
- 1:38Speaker 1: The first time that you you text me, You're like, girl,
- 1:42Speaker 1: someone just recognized me from Gordica Chronicles. I'm like, yes, one.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But I have been in the same room with you
- 1:49Speaker 1: and ten feet away and someone comes up to me like,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I really loved you on one day. God, I'm like,
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's great. You want to go and tell her. She's
- 1:56Speaker 1: gonna love to hear that. Yes, And I just recently
- 2:00Speaker 1: I was in the American Airlines lounge and this woman
- 2:05Speaker 1: is going on and on about my career and she's
- 2:08Speaker 1: so sweet, and then she goes and then on Law
- 2:12Speaker 1: and Order, not Law and Order, lawn order.
- 2:15Speaker 3: That's when you asked me, did you do a Law
- 2:16Speaker 3: and Order? And I said, yeah, like two years ago whatever.
- 2:19Speaker 1: The record just went. She does not.
- 2:20Speaker 3: By the way, I had straight hair in that one
- 2:23Speaker 3: and it was super dark.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I don't get it. I've never seen you with straight hair.
- 2:28Speaker 1: One film I did with straight hair one film, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know what. I at that point, I was like,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you know what. So I pulled up our pictures at
- 2:35Speaker 1: a party together and I'm like, this is I think
- 2:37Speaker 1: who you're thinking about. No, no, no, I know who you
- 2:39Speaker 1: are because you did.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Because they never want to admit they're wrong.
- 2:43Speaker 1: No.
- 2:43Speaker 2: It happens to me all the time when they're like
- 2:45Speaker 2: are you sure, I'm like, yeah, I'm pretty sure that's
- 2:48Speaker 2: not me who I am.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's amazing to me because we I mean, yeah, we
- 2:54Speaker 1: have curly hair. That's about about it. We have great laughs.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That's right. Okay, okay, we got place great.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I say, if I'm going to be mistaken for anybody,
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm glad it's you. Thank you. You are a true
- 3:06Speaker 1: powerhouse of an actor. But you're also a phenomenal woman,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and you're a good friend. And I do live by this.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Women need to know how to be good women to
- 3:16Speaker 1: other women, and you are a good woman to other women.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh, thank you.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I feel the same way about you. I mean, that's
- 3:22Speaker 3: why we're friends. I don't have anybody in my circle
- 3:24Speaker 3: that I don't think is that. No, I don't want
- 3:27Speaker 3: anyone in my circle that I don't think that is
- 3:30Speaker 3: is that.
- 3:30Speaker 1: No, this is one of the most refreshing things about you.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I have to tell this story. You know, you do
- 3:38Speaker 1: get to the stage in life and if you're lucky,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you give less fox and you are the queen of
- 3:43Speaker 1: less fox in the most delicious way. And I was
- 3:48Speaker 1: sitting at some event thing and we were sitting on
- 3:51Speaker 1: a couch together and I'm talking to her, and somebody
- 3:54Speaker 1: that you didn't know came up to talk to you,
- 3:56Speaker 1: and da da da, and they said, yeah, I was
- 3:59Speaker 1: I just did a whole event thing on I just
- 4:02Speaker 1: started this whole thing. And you're like, and they name
- 4:05Speaker 1: dropped so big, and you said, sweetheart, I don't give
- 4:08Speaker 1: a fuck.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Oh my god, when did I say that?
- 4:10Speaker 1: But it was just a drunk no, no, no, because
- 4:14Speaker 1: but you went on to say, like, I love what
- 4:16Speaker 1: you did, but I don't give a fuck who you
- 4:18Speaker 1: started with. Because the woman was giving highlight to this
- 4:20Speaker 1: big celebrity.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I knew where that was. I know where it was.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Oh shit, it told.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Me later, told me later, just so that person doesn't
- 4:27Speaker 1: recognize that.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Also, the funny thing is so many things people told
- 4:30Speaker 3: me I say and I'm like, I said that, But
- 4:32Speaker 3: also I think it's because I live in such the
- 4:34Speaker 3: moment and I'm like and.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, yeah, I did say that, you know which.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It's never it's never mean, no, no, it's just honest.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Because in that moment you went on. I started laughing
- 4:45Speaker 1: because you lost me once you said, sweetheart, I don't
- 4:47Speaker 1: give a fuck, and I'm like, oh my god. But
- 4:49Speaker 1: what you went on to do was uplift her.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Oh I remember who it was. We had just met her.
- 4:55Speaker 3: She was a young actress that we just met.
- 4:57Speaker 1: You went on to the work that she It did
- 5:00Speaker 1: not matter that she was doing it alongside this super superstar.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Remember, it was about her.
- 5:06Speaker 1: You made it full circle for.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Oh good God, who you are? Thank you, my love.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I remember this exactly. The congaroom.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yes, she said it totally.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Nobody will remember it, you know what I mean.
- 5:17Speaker 1: But that's that's that's your core. You are always there.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You take care of people, you show up, you support,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and you're blunt and refreshingly honest. And that's why we have,
- 5:30Speaker 1: Like you said, that's why we have this great friendship.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And it remind you from Chicago.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I was about to say, it's the Chicago yes.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And I'm for sure, Sinnati, which is only four hours away.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 5:38Speaker 1: There's a lot of there's differences, and then there's a
- 5:40Speaker 1: lot of that realness. Yes, we just we don't waste
- 5:42Speaker 1: time with lies.
- 5:43Speaker 3: No, the Midwest, and even though the funny thing is that,
- 5:46Speaker 3: you know, we always claim to be well, not claim
- 5:48Speaker 3: we are from these places, but we've been here longer
- 5:50Speaker 3: than we were from where we're from. But those kind
- 5:54Speaker 3: of I wouldn't say Midwest values because everything is so
- 5:57Speaker 3: jacked up right now, but I would say, you know,
- 6:01Speaker 3: just growing up and where you have to be around people,
- 6:04Speaker 3: where you have all this weather, you know, where you
- 6:07Speaker 3: have to know your neighbors, where there's no nonsense because
- 6:11Speaker 3: it's like sixty below zero, that's where you're like, it's cold.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's the truth. That's where my truth is coming from. Yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and out here or in our workplace, which is obviously
- 6:24Speaker 1: the same. It's it's such great value to have a
- 6:27Speaker 1: good friend like you and women need that, and they
- 6:31Speaker 1: do say that. You know, when you get into your
- 6:33Speaker 1: forties and fifties, you get a smaller and smaller group
- 6:35Speaker 1: of friends.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yeah, right, Well, I think that I always had the
- 6:39Speaker 3: same group of friends, and maybe my friends have even
- 6:41Speaker 3: grown a little bit more because I think I was
- 6:43Speaker 3: actually a lot more.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Anti socials, you know what I mean. Like I was
- 6:48Speaker 2: social with you.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Know, at work and everything, and but I would always
- 6:51Speaker 3: hang out with the same people, which are my people
- 6:54Speaker 3: from Chicago, all the people that I came to LA with.
- 6:58Speaker 3: And I've gotten a lot better better about Like in
- 7:01Speaker 3: my forties, I got a lot better about exploring other things,
- 7:06Speaker 3: which is interesting.
- 7:07Speaker 1: It is especially trying to figure out what to explore.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I want to ask you, as my icebreaker, did you
- 7:16Speaker 1: have an oh shit? Is this midlife moment? Small or
- 7:21Speaker 1: big can be chin hairs too. I don't want this
- 7:25Speaker 1: person in my life.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I think probably I had a lot of them, but
- 7:29Speaker 3: I don't look at them like just some an aha
- 7:32Speaker 3: moment that made me. It's just like a series of
- 7:35Speaker 3: events that have made me go, oh, Okay, this is
- 7:38Speaker 3: where I'm at. But I'm not fighting it, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 3: like because you can't. That doesn't mean I like it.
- 7:46Speaker 3: It's just I'm not going to fight it. I think,
- 7:48Speaker 3: if we're going to be superficial, if I can just
- 7:51Speaker 3: be superficial for a moment, that little, that little apron
- 7:55Speaker 3: that you get in your stomach that's so ugly poopa. Yes,
- 8:02Speaker 3: that thing that you're just like wait, what like all
- 8:05Speaker 3: the guys that are in here that are like thirty
- 8:07Speaker 3: to forty.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Like, what is this that poopa?
- 8:10Speaker 3: Because remember like it's like if you were get a
- 8:12Speaker 3: little way whatever, your stomach was just out like this
- 8:14Speaker 3: and now it's like a thing.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And I was like, what the hell is this? So
- 8:17Speaker 2: I will tell you that was weird. That happened overnight.
- 8:20Speaker 1: That happened overnight to me in Puerto Rico. Oh. I
- 8:23Speaker 1: was there to film Grdita Chronicles and by the time
- 8:25Speaker 1: I left them like.
- 8:26Speaker 2: What the fuck is Yes, that happened overnight. I don't
- 8:28Speaker 2: remember when it happened.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And that's why I'm like, whoa, yeah, that's probably the
- 8:33Speaker 3: one thing.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and then that's that's the that's the superficial one.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm the one that was more like hmm made
- 8:41Speaker 1: you stop and pause, well.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Listen, just turning fifty was.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I hated it and there was not anything that was
- 8:47Speaker 3: fun for me, Like you know, I was super depressed
- 8:50Speaker 3: about it, even though I was working and I had
- 8:52Speaker 3: an incredible birthday. I had just done Dolores Roach. I
- 8:55Speaker 3: think I just did the pilot when I turned fifty. Uh.
- 8:59Speaker 3: And then I had this big thing and I went
- 9:01Speaker 3: to the dr and with a bunch of friends and
- 9:04Speaker 3: it was fabulous. But I was not you know, I
- 9:07Speaker 3: was pretending to be okay with it. And then I
- 9:11Speaker 3: don't know what happened. I just became okay. I'm like,
- 9:13Speaker 3: what are you gonna do?
- 9:14Speaker 2: Like truly, it's like all I can do is just.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Stop thinking it's over, because I think I had a
- 9:21Speaker 3: moment of thinking like it's all over.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Especially, I don't know what it's like to be in
- 9:27Speaker 3: any other business. This is all I've ever done. I
- 9:29Speaker 3: have no idea. I don't know what it's like. I
- 9:32Speaker 3: just know that in this business, in this town, I
- 9:37Speaker 3: felt like, wow, this is like death.
- 9:40Speaker 1: But you know what's so interesting about that, because we
- 9:42Speaker 1: do a lot of us myself included hear this clock
- 9:47Speaker 1: that is, oh my god, I'm running out of time.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And I didn't do this that or the other. Or
- 9:51Speaker 1: it's over, I guess because the windows have closed. And
- 9:54Speaker 1: yet you went on to accomplish a life long dream
- 10:00Speaker 1: of yours. After that, I know, I know you became
- 10:05Speaker 1: You went on to Broadway, which was something you always
- 10:08Speaker 1: wanted to do.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Always and always wanted to originate a role and always
- 10:12Speaker 3: wanted to be nominated.
- 10:14Speaker 2: And I forgot to say I'd like to win it.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I said all those things. I'll say, Wait what I
- 10:20Speaker 3: forgot the win part. That's the part that was the
- 10:22Speaker 3: part I did not win. But all of that was
- 10:25Speaker 3: And even when I was in that, I guess I didn't.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I realize it now, what a big accomplishment that is.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I do realize that. And a life
- 10:35Speaker 1: lesson that our best years are not behind. Yes, as
- 10:39Speaker 1: our dear friend Eva says that she refuses to say
- 10:41Speaker 1: say that her best years are not behind.
- 10:43Speaker 3: He was so freaking optimistic though, you know, like if
- 10:46Speaker 3: we could all have that optimism, and really she really
- 10:49Speaker 3: is like everything and you're just like, oh, just let
- 10:51Speaker 3: me get a little bit.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Yes of that five foot two never ending, because that's
- 10:57Speaker 1: so she's yes, girl, she she over, she steps over you.
- 11:01Speaker 1: She's five too.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Well, she's a giant.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I never knew you were five foot five foot yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 3: might be four eleven and a half now because of
- 11:10Speaker 3: you know, you shrink as you get older, the bones
- 11:13Speaker 3: and all that.
- 11:14Speaker 2: You got to check all that the bone density.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, all those things.
- 11:17Speaker 2: That was also.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Surprising, Like I have like prescription medication though for your presidenity,
- 11:23Speaker 3: though for certain things, and I'm like, you know what
- 11:25Speaker 3: I mean, yeah for sure, which I never had any
- 11:28Speaker 3: of that, No, never.
- 11:29Speaker 1: But you know, this is the thing that one of
- 11:32Speaker 1: the things I'm learning in this podcast is that there's
- 11:34Speaker 1: so much there's such a lack of information and knowledge
- 11:39Speaker 1: and resources about what we need that when we when
- 11:42Speaker 1: we go and we're told at estrogen or bone density whatever,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you need this, and that we're like, oh, no, I
- 11:50Speaker 1: knew that, when in the reality is is a lot
- 11:53Speaker 1: of us needed. My daughter called me the other day.
- 11:55Speaker 1: She's going pre med and she has an anatomy class
- 11:59Speaker 1: with cadavers, and she called me. She's like, Mom, are
- 12:02Speaker 1: you taking estrogen. I'm like, yes, why, She's like, I've
- 12:06Speaker 1: seen so many cadavers of women with no estrogen and
- 12:08Speaker 1: they pointed out because their spined and their bone density
- 12:12Speaker 1: is for shit. So she was seeing physically what happens
- 12:16Speaker 1: to these cadavers that had hormone replacement and the lack thereon.
- 12:22Speaker 1: And now listen, that's a whole.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Discussion, but also that discussion and I know that's a
- 12:25Speaker 3: whole discussion and we're not doctors, but but literally, they
- 12:28Speaker 3: wouldn't give it to women, right, they wouldn't give it
- 12:30Speaker 3: to women. They were like, oh, they did these studies
- 12:33Speaker 3: and they were like, it causes cancer. And then you know,
- 12:36Speaker 3: the male doctors would dismiss it as if you were
- 12:40Speaker 3: just depressed or had anxiety and instead try to hook
- 12:44Speaker 3: you on some stupid anti anxiety you know drug as
- 12:48Speaker 3: opposed to really like.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Dealing with the problem.
- 12:51Speaker 3: They've just flipped it where women are able to do this,
- 12:55Speaker 3: So they basically made us suffer.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean truly generations.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Absolute women that didn't have that opportunity. I can't even
- 13:03Speaker 3: imagine if I wasn't on hormone and I'm on the
- 13:05Speaker 3: lowest dosage because for certain reasons, I can only have
- 13:09Speaker 3: a low dosage of certain things. But literally it's changed
- 13:14Speaker 3: my life and I'm sure I could benefit from more,
- 13:17Speaker 3: but I can't do it. It has changed my life,
- 13:20Speaker 3: like with the sleeping and the hot sweats and yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 3: just not being able to sleep and not being able
- 13:27Speaker 3: to remember anything.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and that is something that we've obviously in generations before,
- 13:32Speaker 1: has have muscled through.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And they had to go to work like every day
- 13:35Speaker 3: like a regular I mean, like, you know, my.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Mom divorce during that time, because I'd be like.
- 13:40Speaker 3: My mom had to go She was an opn and
- 13:44Speaker 3: a nursing home in Chicago, Casa Central, which was the
- 13:47Speaker 3: only Latino nursing home in the city, and imagine her
- 13:51Speaker 3: having to do that every day all these kids. I
- 13:55Speaker 3: feel so bad thinking about Like I was like why
- 13:58Speaker 3: she I was so mad. I'm like, oh, I know now, Mommy,
- 14:03Speaker 3: I know now it is.
- 14:05Speaker 1: It is mind blowing and you're right. They have flipped
- 14:07Speaker 1: it and now the conversation is becoming more common place
- 14:10Speaker 1: and part of the part of the goal with this
- 14:13Speaker 1: podcast is to talk about all things midlife, menopause, not menopause,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you know whatever, sex.
- 14:18Speaker 3: All of that, just partners, yes, you know what I mean, Like,
- 14:22Speaker 3: you know, all of that. It's all fifty hit me
- 14:25Speaker 3: hard and then like I'm past fifty now and I
- 14:30Speaker 3: feel fine, you know, I feel good.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Less angry, Well, it offends, it depends on who when
- 14:39Speaker 1: the day.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Girl. No, not any of that. Less thinking my life
- 14:45Speaker 2: is over.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Okay, great question.
- 14:47Speaker 2: That's like I don't feel that way anymore.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I really felt like, oh, my god. I really really
- 14:53Speaker 3: felt like it was all over. It was so weird
- 14:56Speaker 3: somebody like me, who's not Who's I mean? I consider
- 14:58Speaker 3: myself an intelligent woman. I truly thought, oh my god,
- 15:02Speaker 3: I went down that that stupid patriarchal you know, massagy,
- 15:06Speaker 3: like what they say, what they say about us, how
- 15:10Speaker 3: the media talks about us, how all of.
- 15:12Speaker 2: These things, and and just the number was like, like,
- 15:17Speaker 2: how did I get here? How did I become fifty?
- 15:21Speaker 2: Whatever I am? Now, Yeah, it's bizarre.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I've been married twice. I was, you know, society says
- 15:38Speaker 1: I should have been married one time twice and then
- 15:40Speaker 1: but I'm on my third relationship and I'm like, I
- 15:42Speaker 1: don't need to get married, but he's my forever. You
- 15:45Speaker 1: have not been married, no, and it's been good for
- 15:47Speaker 1: you totally.
- 15:48Speaker 3: You've been It has been good for me, but I
- 15:51Speaker 3: will tell you that at this stage, and I'm it's
- 15:53Speaker 3: still good for me. It's it's exactly what I want,
- 15:56Speaker 3: what I wanted. I don't know what I want in
- 15:58Speaker 3: the future, but you do feel a certain kind of
- 16:02Speaker 3: way even if that's not what you want it because
- 16:04Speaker 3: everybody's kind of in their relationships now.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're like, oh, where's the.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Girl that's going to go with my girlfriend, who's going
- 16:11Speaker 3: to travel with me to this place or that place?
- 16:14Speaker 2: Oh, they have to clear it, you know that.
- 16:16Speaker 3: See if somebody can take care of the kids, you know,
- 16:18Speaker 3: some things like so it is a little bit like,
- 16:20Speaker 3: oh wow, this is where I'm noticing family now.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's still okay.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I never wanted to have kids, and I love, love,
- 16:29Speaker 3: love kids. I just never wanted to have them, and
- 16:32Speaker 3: I'm okay with not being married. But I do go like,
- 16:35Speaker 3: oh wow, I see you know the twenty years of
- 16:38Speaker 3: people being together where they're at now and how it is.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's beautiful. It is beautiful and there's no
- 16:45Speaker 1: you know. First of all, I just want to tell
- 16:46Speaker 1: you that all your friends that are married, don't worry
- 16:49Speaker 1: because we all plan on having a compound where we
- 16:52Speaker 1: all live together. Anyway.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I love that. I always hear that. I always hear that,
- 16:56Speaker 2: and I have yes.
- 16:57Speaker 3: No, no, I That's just something that I want to
- 17:00Speaker 3: be honest about, you know what I mean, Because no
- 17:03Speaker 3: matter even if that's the path I wanted and that's
- 17:05Speaker 3: the path I live, and it's still you still sometimes.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Get a little like oh.
- 17:10Speaker 1: You know what I mean, you still do for twenty minutes.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But ultimately though, there's a lot of women though that
- 17:16Speaker 1: have reached this stage and they did get married and
- 17:18Speaker 1: they're not married anymore and they're happy with that. Yes,
- 17:21Speaker 1: it's just it's not about you know. I told my
- 17:24Speaker 1: kids who are young adults now, first of all, just
- 17:27Speaker 1: go live. Go live and make decisions like that later.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Accomplish the things that you want to accomplish. Go explore
- 17:33Speaker 1: the things that you want to you know, obviously we
- 17:34Speaker 1: were hustlers. We hit the ground running with wrestling for
- 17:38Speaker 1: this career. So there's a lot of stuff that we
- 17:41Speaker 1: I don't know if we missed out on, but a
- 17:42Speaker 1: lot of things were delayed as far as certain experiences.
- 17:45Speaker 1: For me, there was a lot of travel that I
- 17:47Speaker 1: didn't get to experience yet. But I'm going to buy
- 17:50Speaker 1: in do that my best years are ahead.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Because when we were younger and we were here,
- 17:55Speaker 3: we didn't even think about going anywhere because in case
- 17:58Speaker 3: we missed an audition.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I mean, do you remember how crazy that was?
- 18:02Speaker 3: I was like, no, because that might be you know
- 18:05Speaker 3: audi exactly like you didn't even think about going living. No, No,
- 18:11Speaker 3: it was about coming here and grinding. Yes, I mean
- 18:13Speaker 3: imagine we had fun though we still had fun.
- 18:15Speaker 2: We had fun.
- 18:16Speaker 1: We haven't had doll lives, not at all. But it
- 18:19Speaker 1: was a continuous discussion on with our styles. On am
- 18:23Speaker 1: I living presently? Because at the end of the day,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I know you agree with me. When I'm on my
- 18:29Speaker 1: deathbedd and I'm taking my final breath, I will not
- 18:32Speaker 1: give a shit about this television series or that film
- 18:37Speaker 1: that will be way in my rear view mirror. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: will care whether or not I have a good relationship
- 18:42Speaker 1: with my kids if I did those things that bring
- 18:46Speaker 1: me joy, And do you do things that still bring
- 18:48Speaker 1: you joy?
- 18:49Speaker 3: Yeah, Well that's the beauty kind of not being attached
- 18:54Speaker 3: to anyone or anything.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Do everything that brings me joy. That's the way I
- 18:59Speaker 2: am a joyful life girl. I do. I mean yes,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I do whatever brings me joy. I really do.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Like, what what are you doing these days?
- 19:07Speaker 2: Well, I mean, believe it or not.
- 19:09Speaker 3: With everything that's going on, and it's so crazy. I've
- 19:11Speaker 3: been traveling a lot, but like little things like I've
- 19:14Speaker 3: been going to Puerto Rico a lot, and you know
- 19:16Speaker 3: I'm Puerto rican but the first time I went to
- 19:18Speaker 3: Puerto Rico. I wasn't. I was like twenty years old.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I'd never I never went when I was little, And
- 19:24Speaker 3: so I did that movie. And you know, we've been
- 19:27Speaker 3: to Puerto Rico, we've done things, but when I did
- 19:29Speaker 3: that movie, I just got this new found love for it.
- 19:33Speaker 2: So I've been going a lot to Puerto.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Rico, you know, always going to I guess being traveling
- 19:39Speaker 3: and seeing my family brings me a lot of joy. Chicago,
- 19:42Speaker 3: going home and seeing people, and my home brings me
- 19:48Speaker 3: a lot of joy.
- 19:49Speaker 1: You do talk about your home because you know, and
- 19:52Speaker 1: that's the great thing.
- 19:53Speaker 2: My home brings me so much.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It's supposed to be your sanctuary. So it's good to.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Hear that it is. And it's not just.
- 19:59Speaker 1: An endless project for you, Like you enjoy it.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I enjoy it.
- 20:02Speaker 3: But also I don't even know what an endless project
- 20:05Speaker 3: is because I'm really bad with that stuff.
- 20:06Speaker 2: You know, I'm like, wait, is that messed up? Okay,
- 20:09Speaker 2: well I'll deal with that later.
- 20:10Speaker 1: You know what, I really it brings you joy.
- 20:12Speaker 3: My house brings me a lot of joy, like just
- 20:15Speaker 3: waking up and and being in I just love my
- 20:18Speaker 3: space and that brings me joy.
- 20:21Speaker 1: That's important.
- 20:22Speaker 2: But I think that's the most that. I think that's
- 20:24Speaker 2: the thing.
- 20:24Speaker 1: You know, and you have the people in your life
- 20:26Speaker 1: that you want to have in your life for sure,
- 20:28Speaker 1: My girlfriends who I adore, my family.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I mean, I am a lover of Los Angeles.
- 20:34Speaker 3: A lot of people are not, and and a lot
- 20:36Speaker 3: of people don't want to be here anymore because there's
- 20:40Speaker 3: really no industry here anymore and there's no reason to
- 20:43Speaker 3: really be in LA anymore.
- 20:45Speaker 2: But I love La.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Well, then that's I love La.
- 20:49Speaker 3: And it's like I will drive around professing my love
- 20:52Speaker 3: to La NonStop.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I love you.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I love the one on one.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Oh god, I'm gonna call you when I'm on one
- 21:00Speaker 1: on one at four o'clock. I'm like, talk me down
- 21:02Speaker 1: off this ledge, justinea because I'm ready to start driving
- 21:05Speaker 1: east and never to look back. What are you giving
- 21:08Speaker 1: yourself that? Are you giving yourself anything new? Like is
- 21:11Speaker 1: there something that you haven't done yet that you want
- 21:13Speaker 1: to do?
- 21:14Speaker 2: Oh my god? As far as like.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Working career personal, I mean.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I think, I I mean i'd like to I would.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I think I'm ready to find a partner, you know
- 21:23Speaker 3: what I mean. So that that's that's something that I'm
- 21:26Speaker 3: open to a romantic, you know, romantic, long term kind
- 21:29Speaker 3: of situation. And no, I think I'm doing everything I
- 21:33Speaker 3: want to do. I'm working towards stuff, you know, I'm working. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 3: I mean, i'd like to go back on Broadway. You
- 21:43Speaker 3: know the thing about when when I'm asked these kind
- 21:45Speaker 3: of questions, I always go like, work and I have
- 21:49Speaker 3: to start finding out other things that's interesting.
- 21:52Speaker 2: But I always wait to work.
- 21:53Speaker 3: I always going to work because I'm like, well, you
- 21:55Speaker 3: know the Yeah, it's like I'm not going to talk
- 21:57Speaker 3: about you know, like sensitive shit, you know what I mean.
- 22:03Speaker 3: You know, like when I was on Dancing with the Stars,
- 22:05Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, yes, it was like a cry fest,
- 22:08Speaker 3: you know, not for me, but anybody I'm when they're
- 22:11Speaker 3: telling the stories, I was like, that is not gonna
- 22:14Speaker 3: be me.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Justine is like, I don't give a fuck, girl, believe me.
- 22:18Speaker 2: They couldn't believe it. When I would say that, I
- 22:20Speaker 2: was like, I don't care.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm not telling you that.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Who cares? They were like, Okay, that's what's.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So glorious about you. If you don't put weight and
- 22:29Speaker 1: stock into a lot of stuff, you get to not
- 22:31Speaker 1: give a fuck.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Judy Reyes does an incredible impersonation of me.
- 22:34Speaker 1: She's like, I would have loved to have seen that
- 22:37Speaker 1: when she was there, but because you just reminded me,
- 22:40Speaker 1: because she was like, I'm like, so, what is it
- 22:41Speaker 1: what she's like?
- 22:42Speaker 2: And her impersonation was.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Like, girl, I don't give a fuck. Girl, I do
- 22:49Speaker 3: not give a fuck. That was her impersonation of me.
- 22:52Speaker 3: And that's exactly what I said. I'm like, I'll give
- 22:53Speaker 3: a fuck.
- 22:55Speaker 1: That's what I heard in the conger room.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. I know I could probably tone down on that.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I could probably bring.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Some more feminine energy to myself. I feel like I
- 23:08Speaker 3: wouldn't mind some more feminine energy.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You know, let me tell you about feminine energy. I
- 23:13Speaker 1: when I started dating again, you know, you met my guy.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I love your guys.
- 23:18Speaker 1: A good guy.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Everybody loves him.
- 23:19Speaker 1: He is a good guy. Ironed it.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yes he did.
- 23:22Speaker 1: He deserves me. But when I started dating again and
- 23:28Speaker 1: I went on the dating apps, I was like.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I'm not doing that shit.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I'm not doing that shit that is we ear okay,
- 23:36Speaker 1: But I found my guy. But but I'll tell you
- 23:37Speaker 1: how I found my guy because I chose I'm like everybody,
- 23:40Speaker 1: sit down, I'll tell you. And I went through my
- 23:42Speaker 1: south and I'm like, how about you, let's talk, And
- 23:45Speaker 1: that was it because there were too many weird There
- 23:47Speaker 1: was a lot of good guys that were kind of
- 23:49Speaker 1: slipping in my dms. Not my type, but very viable gentleman.
- 23:52Speaker 1: So that made me feel good. I'm like, thank you, okay,
- 23:55Speaker 1: but thank you, and then like you're younger than my son.
- 23:57Speaker 1: That's unacceptable. Okay. But anyway, when I started dating, I
- 24:02Speaker 1: started getting into that total dating app thing because I
- 24:04Speaker 1: didn't date. I didn't want to go on multiple dates.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I was uncomfortable with that. I thought, how am I
- 24:10Speaker 1: going to find this person that exists for me? He
- 24:13Speaker 1: has to be okay with my masculine energy because I'm
- 24:16Speaker 1: a very strong woman, but yet treat me like a
- 24:19Speaker 1: woman and yet be man enough to do one thing
- 24:23Speaker 1: or the other but not break when I get very
- 24:26Speaker 1: masculine because I am am I going to find them
- 24:28Speaker 1: in la? I don't know because I don't eat you know,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I eat gluten and I don't do yoga under a waterfall,
- 24:36Speaker 1: and I'm just a little you know, I love me
- 24:41Speaker 1: a good beer, and that's not really I don't find
- 24:45Speaker 1: a lot of men in LA that.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Like that girl.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:47Speaker 3: I don't know, because we've only been in the world
- 24:52Speaker 3: of actors and producers and directors.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Kind of didn't want one of those either, And that's
- 24:57Speaker 1: my problem. And I grew up in the Midwest, Honors.
- 25:00Speaker 1: My dad taught us how to mow the lawn. We
- 25:02Speaker 1: didn't live on a farm, but everybody had properties. I'm
- 25:05Speaker 1: taught my son how to tie a tie, mow the lawn.
- 25:07Speaker 1: My daughter had to mow the lawns. Like listen, God forbid,
- 25:09Speaker 1: you have to know your own, Laine. So I'm like,
- 25:11Speaker 1: how am I going to find that here?
- 25:13Speaker 2: I found?
- 25:14Speaker 1: I know, amazing, I love him, I have thank you.
- 25:17Speaker 1: But I let's talk about this. The dating apps can
- 25:20Speaker 1: work because you can see what they are and what
- 25:23Speaker 1: they did.
- 25:23Speaker 2: I'm going to be honest.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, embarrassing to to say you're on one. Yeah, well
- 25:28Speaker 1: you had to tell nobody.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Well also that somebody could see me on one. That's
- 25:31Speaker 3: embarrassing to me, you know what I mean. It's just like,
- 25:34Speaker 3: I don't know. I just feel like just because I
- 25:36Speaker 3: come from such a different world, you know, Uh, I
- 25:40Speaker 3: just I don't know, And then not only that, I
- 25:43Speaker 3: think it's bizarre that you tell everybody everything about yourself
- 25:46Speaker 3: and like some paragraph look at the paragraphs.
- 25:50Speaker 2: This is big.
- 25:50Speaker 3: But also I know that I'm outdated, and I know
- 25:53Speaker 3: that it's not I know that everybody does it, and
- 25:55Speaker 3: I know that I'm in the I'm the minority. Yes,
- 25:59Speaker 3: I know that. I absolutely know that. I don't think
- 26:01Speaker 3: I'm right about it or anything. I'm just being honest
- 26:04Speaker 3: of how it feels to me. But all my friends
- 26:09Speaker 3: have done it. I mean people have gotten married off
- 26:11Speaker 3: of it, you know. So it's not even anything like shameful.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It's just something that I would have to get over.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I agree with you, and I will tell you that
- 26:19Speaker 1: I only spent two weeks.
- 26:21Speaker 2: On the dating app.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It's amazing because I didn't want to be on the
- 26:25Speaker 1: dating app. And the only reason I gone on it
- 26:26Speaker 1: is because I lost a bet with a friend. She said,
- 26:29Speaker 1: if you lose, you're going on the dating app, and
- 26:30Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm on, let's do it. And I lost. Oh,
- 26:33Speaker 1: so she was like, we're gonna take this picture and
- 26:35Speaker 1: this picture and that's shit too. Yeah, no, all of that.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Like I was on that Raya for like a month.
- 26:41Speaker 1: You heard my complaint about Rya Raya. If you don't know,
- 26:45Speaker 1: is this high flutin motherfucker dating app for people who
- 26:48Speaker 1: are in public eye So it's private blah blah blah.
- 26:52Speaker 1: It's only like actors.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Or visible breatheople. I thought it was okay, that's great.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I love it.
- 26:57Speaker 2: But it didn't do well.
- 26:59Speaker 1: It didn't didn't even let me in.
- 27:02Speaker 2: They made me.
- 27:02Speaker 1: They put me on a wait list for two and
- 27:04Speaker 1: a half years.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah okay.
- 27:07Speaker 1: And then, by the way, I didn't mention this because
- 27:09Speaker 1: I know you heard this story. When they finally I
- 27:12Speaker 1: was I had met Carrie off Hinge, Thank you Hinge.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Contrast Hello, Yeah, I mean I met Carrie on Hinge,
- 27:20Speaker 1: and about a year into our relationship, I get an
- 27:23Speaker 1: email congratulations you are accepted into RAYA. I'm like, Raya,
- 27:29Speaker 1: I found my guy on Hinge.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Rayah. It was interesting.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So but you got in?
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I got it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: And what kind of what kind of memory we're hitting
- 27:38Speaker 1: you up.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Old white men, which was interesting. I was like, oh okay,
- 27:42Speaker 3: I mean like no other color, no other whatever, just
- 27:45Speaker 3: like like a whole bunch of old white guys. I
- 27:47Speaker 3: was like, well, all right, a white guy let me see.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And you know why, because I told the truth about
- 27:53Speaker 3: my age.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Those fuckers, you know what I mean. I'm like, I'm
- 27:57Speaker 2: telling you.
- 27:58Speaker 3: It's like they're like, oh, she's fit, digel blah blah blah.
- 28:01Speaker 2: You gotta be like for a thirty eight and shit
- 28:03Speaker 2: for the first year old.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Yeah, basically, basically I had like sixty year olds to
- 28:08Speaker 3: seventy year olds. I was like, because I said I
- 28:11Speaker 3: was fifty something and the picture was super cute, I'm like,
- 28:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry, what's not matching here. I'm not gonna lie
- 28:17Speaker 3: about my fucking age. By the way, I can't lie
- 28:19Speaker 3: about it because it's stupid ass IMDb and all these
- 28:22Speaker 3: other places that started telling our age in the early
- 28:26Speaker 3: two thousands.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Well, you don't put your last name, obviously, my child,
- 28:29Speaker 1: what do you mean you don't put your you don't
- 28:31Speaker 1: put a last name, You just put Justina.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Okay, And then like I didn't know that, I put
- 28:36Speaker 3: the whole fucking thing up.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I was like, what are you talking about.
- 28:43Speaker 3: I'm like, Houstina Milo Maio nineteen seventy two September six, virgol.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Girl. I give them all the informations.
- 28:57Speaker 3: They're like, old bitch, oh, like I don't feel that way. Obviously,
- 29:01Speaker 3: I don't look that way. I don't feel that way.
- 29:04Speaker 3: But that's what that whole experience kind of. I mean literally,
- 29:08Speaker 3: the men were sixty five to seventy years old.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I cannot tell you how many of our girlfriends and
- 29:15Speaker 1: some that you haven't met yet that have been on
- 29:17Speaker 1: the show that disclosed that they are on dating apps.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Because this town is impossible. That is, it's really if it's.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Still have hope though you should have a home and
- 29:26Speaker 3: it doesn't have to be in this town, you know,
- 29:28Speaker 3: like like you know.
- 29:30Speaker 1: You put on that like you like New York Chicago.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I only did that for three weeks. I didn't put
- 29:35Speaker 2: anything on it except your whole name exactly. Who's seen.
- 29:40Speaker 3: That's not even my acting name. My act name is
- 29:42Speaker 3: just just Sina Machado. I just give them the whole thing.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Everything here, it's all here.
- 29:48Speaker 2: You tell me from Chicago. There you go figure it out.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Cut the ship, let's go. Yeah, Oh my god, that's
- 29:54Speaker 4: so funny. Oh my god, girl, I did not know that.
- 29:56Speaker 4: That's hilarious.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Do you give yourself credit for all that you have
- 30:11Speaker 1: done and.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Become rarely because I'm always and this is not a
- 30:17Speaker 3: good thing searching for more?
- 30:19Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean to accomplish more?
- 30:21Speaker 3: I mean, it's a nice thing to be to be ambitious,
- 30:24Speaker 3: but it's not a good thing to not. You need
- 30:27Speaker 3: gratitude or nothing's going to happen for you. Yeah, and
- 30:29Speaker 3: I know that sounds like so cliche and like granola,
- 30:33Speaker 3: but if you don't have gratitude, nothing is.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Going to happen for you.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I agreed.
- 30:38Speaker 3: So I have to like sometimes go oh, yeah, you know,
- 30:42Speaker 3: but people don't understand that, yes, this is a profession,
- 30:44Speaker 3: but it's also your life. And I don't think people
- 30:47Speaker 3: they're always like, yeah, you're not what you do. You're right,
- 30:49Speaker 3: But you be an actor in this city for thirty
- 30:52Speaker 3: years and you tell me that. They don't just start
- 30:55Speaker 3: to go like this with each other. Of course they do.
- 30:58Speaker 3: And then you have to remind yourself and take yourself
- 31:00Speaker 3: out of it and say yes, but you know, I
- 31:03Speaker 3: don't look at sixty like people look at it or
- 31:05Speaker 3: whatever the age is that you're supposed to retire, if
- 31:08Speaker 3: there's anything left when people retire, I don't look at that.
- 31:12Speaker 2: We don't think about things like that.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Now. I my retirement is looking at when can I
- 31:18Speaker 1: have enough money to build a guest house in the
- 31:20Speaker 1: back from my parents. That's my retirement. When I get
- 31:24Speaker 1: to that point, yes, and I'm just like, hurry up,
- 31:27Speaker 1: because you know they're getting They're totally viable, and they're
- 31:31Speaker 1: fit and they're fine. But I know that's what I
- 31:33Speaker 1: want in my future, and I measure that by where
- 31:35Speaker 1: am I in my career?
- 31:36Speaker 3: Yeah, right, because that's what that's what dictates our future financially,
- 31:41Speaker 3: you know what I mean, if we could step away
- 31:43Speaker 3: from the money and then I would be very very
- 31:46Speaker 3: proud of everything that I've done. And I'm sure you
- 31:49Speaker 3: feel the same way about yourself, because I mean very
- 31:52Speaker 3: proud of our accomplishments and you know, and and it's
- 31:55Speaker 3: when you put the money in that you just like,
- 31:58Speaker 3: you know, I got to keep moving.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I gotta keep Yeah, there is I do think that
- 32:03Speaker 1: that's something that happens in midlife, though, that do we
- 32:06Speaker 1: stop and get off the treadmill for half a second
- 32:09Speaker 1: and take a look and see all that we've done
- 32:11Speaker 1: so that we can accurately measure where and what we
- 32:15Speaker 1: want to put our efforts and energy into this next chapter.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Because one of the things that I keep saying over
- 32:19Speaker 1: and over again is obviously society puts this template on
- 32:23Speaker 1: us as middle age is you're almost done, You're on
- 32:25Speaker 1: the downside, and like, no, I have I'm still sporning
- 32:29Speaker 1: children or you know, one of them, the other ones
- 32:32Speaker 1: has flown the coop. But the and then a lot
- 32:35Speaker 1: of us have aging parents and we're moving into that
- 32:37Speaker 1: chapter and so we cannot retire, We cannot even think
- 32:41Speaker 1: about it. We have so much on our plate and
- 32:44Speaker 1: just trying to identify then what's left for me and
- 32:47Speaker 1: what do I want with whatever's left of me? How
- 32:49Speaker 1: much do I want to put into not wasting my
- 32:51Speaker 1: time in doing this?
- 32:52Speaker 3: That is, yes, yes, And I think that's a hard
- 32:54Speaker 3: question for us because it's like then we're in this
- 32:57Speaker 3: business where they kind of start telling you you're not
- 33:00Speaker 3: viable anymore, and so then you're and you know, it
- 33:03Speaker 3: hasn't been that bad. I don't want it to sound
- 33:05Speaker 3: like it's been so horrible for me, because it hasn't
- 33:06Speaker 3: been bad for you or for me.
- 33:08Speaker 2: It's just been different.
- 33:10Speaker 1: It is Society does that in general, the entertainment industry
- 33:15Speaker 1: or not. Society does that to women all the time. Yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 1: telling them that they're not viable or that they're the
- 33:20Speaker 1: old person, or yeah, being called a boomer when you're not, Oh.
- 33:24Speaker 3: God, enough with that boomer ship. Like I'm like, I'm
- 33:27Speaker 3: generation Eggs. Okay, boomer, I'm like what does that mean?
- 33:31Speaker 3: And like it's a boomer. I don't even it was
- 33:34Speaker 3: like I don't even know parents people. Okay, Well, why
- 33:37Speaker 3: they're calling us boomers?
- 33:39Speaker 1: That's the slam. That's the generation eggs, you know, the
- 33:43Speaker 1: serah fox given.
- 33:44Speaker 3: That's right because we had to basically do everything ourselves.
- 33:49Speaker 2: It's it, that's it.
- 33:50Speaker 1: And that's and that's why I say, it's just it seems,
- 33:52Speaker 1: you know. I'm on this question to ask all my girlfriends.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Do you stop and ask yourself if you've done enough?
- 33:57Speaker 1: And what else do you want to do? And where
- 33:59Speaker 1: do you want to put your your time and attention
- 34:03Speaker 1: do you do? Are you good with self care?
- 34:06Speaker 2: Yeah? I just like I'm kind of I think I
- 34:10Speaker 2: am good with self care. I just have.
- 34:12Speaker 3: A little a little bit of add So I jump
- 34:15Speaker 3: around a lot, like I start this and I'm like
- 34:17Speaker 3: oh this, and then I'm like oh that. So I'm
- 34:19Speaker 3: like this like a fluttering little person in my house
- 34:22Speaker 3: but yeah, I mean I think I'm good at it.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I mean, especially when in my old place, I was
- 34:28Speaker 3: really close to my acupuncturist, so I would see her
- 34:30Speaker 3: once a week and I would, you know, I would
- 34:33Speaker 3: do those kind of things that were very important for
- 34:35Speaker 3: me once a week acupuncture, you know, the face stuff,
- 34:40Speaker 3: and we have to you know, so I think.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I am I forget you.
- 34:43Speaker 1: You recommend that acupuncturist and I went, I think once
- 34:46Speaker 1: or twice. I love so bad at getting at staying
- 34:49Speaker 1: with that, but that is really something.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I and that was something that I did all
- 34:53Speaker 3: the time. Now because I'm in a different place in
- 34:55Speaker 3: the city. I'm just trying to find, you know, my
- 34:57Speaker 3: stuff and where I'm at so I don't have to
- 34:59Speaker 3: be the.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Four or five for forty five minutes to an hour.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Did your mom talk to you about midlife menoponds never
- 35:06Speaker 1: need no?
- 35:07Speaker 3: And this is why when this started to happen to me,
- 35:09Speaker 3: I asked every single girlfriend my age, and every single
- 35:12Speaker 3: girlfriend was like, I'm in the same boat you are,
- 35:15Speaker 3: because I think I even asked you, yeah, and you
- 35:17Speaker 3: gave me your doctor's name, and I kept asking, and
- 35:19Speaker 3: I remember I was getting my hair done, and Katie
- 35:21Speaker 3: Sagal was there and I even asked, Katie Sigal, did
- 35:24Speaker 3: you know?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Did you know?
- 35:26Speaker 2: I love Katy, Katie, I just want to know, how
- 35:30Speaker 2: did you deal with this? Did you do with it?
- 35:31Speaker 1: Now? That little apron? Did you get an apron?
- 35:33Speaker 2: You know? She did it?
- 35:34Speaker 1: No?
- 35:34Speaker 2: I love her.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I love Katie. And that's how desperate I was. I
- 35:39Speaker 3: mean I never had a conversation. I mean, she was
- 35:41Speaker 3: getting her hair washed.
- 35:42Speaker 2: And I was like, Katie, have you ever done hormones?
- 35:46Speaker 3: She's like, oh, honey, I started that, you know, and
- 35:48Speaker 3: she was giving me, like answering me stuff that nobody
- 35:53Speaker 3: had ever. They don't talk about it because my mother
- 35:55Speaker 3: didn't get hormones because they wouldn't give it to her.
- 35:58Speaker 3: My mother's seventy two years old. They wouldn't give it
- 36:00Speaker 3: to her. She just had to like muscle through it.
- 36:03Speaker 3: And there are things that people just didn't talk about.
- 36:05Speaker 3: All I heard was that you were gonna sweat. That's
- 36:07Speaker 3: all I thought.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I didn't even get that. I didn't even get that.
- 36:10Speaker 1: And it's amazing they first of all, they didn't have
- 36:14Speaker 1: titles like fuupus, you know, like they didn't like that's
- 36:17Speaker 1: just that's now sticking with us for the rest of
- 36:19Speaker 1: our lives. Yeah, they got to walk past that. But
- 36:22Speaker 1: my mother always says that she didn't feel a thing.
- 36:24Speaker 1: She had a doctor point out to her, like you're
- 36:26Speaker 1: a menopause.
- 36:27Speaker 2: She's like, I am, oh, that's actually great.
- 36:29Speaker 1: It's so great, and she reminds me of it often
- 36:31Speaker 1: and it's like I'm but I and I admire her.
- 36:35Speaker 1: My body did not go through the same experience. It
- 36:37Speaker 1: hasn't been as brutal as some of my girlfriends that
- 36:40Speaker 1: I've heard.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Mine hasn't been as brutal either. And I think the
- 36:44Speaker 3: hormone therapy has a lot to do with it. And
- 36:47Speaker 3: I think reminding yourself that give you know what I've done.
- 36:49Speaker 3: I've given myself a lot of breaks because sometimes I
- 36:52Speaker 3: get real angry and I'm like, girl, are.
- 36:54Speaker 2: You so mad? You know?
- 36:55Speaker 3: Or like real and I just have to remind myself
- 36:57Speaker 3: it's the hormones. It's the hormones, or just really emotional,
- 37:01Speaker 3: you know, it's the hormones. It's the hormones that that's
- 37:04Speaker 3: you're just all over the place. Imagine that you don't
- 37:07Speaker 3: have the thing that helps you. The men didn't have
- 37:10Speaker 3: their testosterone or whatever.
- 37:12Speaker 1: They fix that problem.
- 37:13Speaker 3: You know, they always fix a man problem. You know
- 37:15Speaker 3: that there's a shortage of progesterone in the country right now, Yes,
- 37:18Speaker 3: I do.
- 37:18Speaker 2: And do you think there's a shortage of viagra? No,
- 37:21Speaker 2: I'm probably not. I'm pretty sure that. Yeah, there's a
- 37:25Speaker 2: shortage of progesterone.
- 37:27Speaker 3: I mean, if you don't take progesterone with the estrogen
- 37:30Speaker 3: that can cause cancer. And there's a worldwide shortage right now.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Because honestly, at the end of the day, I hate
- 37:37Speaker 3: to say that, but a lot of times they don't
- 37:38Speaker 3: give a shit.
- 37:39Speaker 2: About a woman that is definitely don't give a.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Shit, and it's like, oh, well, too bad, deal with it.
- 37:45Speaker 3: A shortage of I mean I couldn't believe it, and
- 37:47Speaker 3: luckily I got it because you know, you're privy to
- 37:52Speaker 3: certain pharmacies or privy to certain doctors that can help you.
- 37:56Speaker 2: But imagine just like in.
- 37:59Speaker 3: The Midwest, in Chicago and whatever, and there's a shortage
- 38:02Speaker 3: of progesterone.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and we don't even and and the fact that
- 38:04Speaker 1: there hasn't even been the information hasn't been made readily
- 38:09Speaker 1: available enough for women across the country and across other
- 38:12Speaker 1: countries are far exceeding their excuse, their knowledge and their
- 38:16Speaker 1: their resources distribution than than than us. Imagine them not
- 38:20Speaker 1: knowing because the conversation hasn't become everyday household conversations.
- 38:24Speaker 3: It hasn't, it hasn't. So yeah, oh yeah, I just
- 38:28Speaker 3: got a brain fuck. I forgot we were talking.
- 38:29Speaker 1: About were right on track this track.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I was like, wait, I kind of forgot what she just.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Said we're just talking about about.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I forgot this is?
- 38:41Speaker 1: This is a Tuesday for us? Where's our medication? This is?
- 38:49Speaker 2: And this is it?
- 38:49Speaker 1: Like we have been muscling through. And part of the
- 38:52Speaker 1: brilliance about the fact that we have survived this so
- 38:55Speaker 1: far is because we happen to be a generation that's
- 38:57Speaker 1: really resourceful and we're very resilient.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Oh my god, are we ever?
- 39:01Speaker 1: So we don't even realize how much we're carrying on
- 39:05Speaker 1: our shoulders that we don't have to.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good one. That's that's one that I'd
- 39:09Speaker 2: like to.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Start getting rid of stuff that I don't have to carry, Yeah,
- 39:14Speaker 3: and just focus on the stuff that needs to be
- 39:17Speaker 3: done and feel good.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Yeah, what's one thing that you think you don't have
- 39:22Speaker 1: to carry that you should put down.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I don't have to carry that.
- 39:32Speaker 3: God, there's so many, but I think I don't have
- 39:35Speaker 3: to carry that, my number, my number, the age, I
- 39:40Speaker 3: don't have to carry that. It doesn't mean anything, you
- 39:43Speaker 3: know what I mean. I'm timeless, and like we're all timeless,
- 39:47Speaker 3: and I don't have to go into something because that
- 39:50Speaker 3: happens a lot of Oh Jesus, Like or even if
- 39:52Speaker 3: a guy I'm like.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Well, how old is he?
- 39:53Speaker 3: I mean, I mean with forty, Well I'm fifty three,
- 39:56Speaker 3: I'm like, who cares, girl.
- 39:57Speaker 2: He's forty.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Go for it. That's right, that's right, you.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Know, or stuff like that, or or just or just like, oh,
- 40:05Speaker 3: they're never going to consider me for this because even
- 40:07Speaker 3: though they do that a lot here, but still like
- 40:10Speaker 3: not helping them and not putting that energy out there,
- 40:12Speaker 3: that this number is going to stop me in some
- 40:15Speaker 3: way of accomplishing the stuff or stop me from being
- 40:19Speaker 3: me just because I have a number that I've never
- 40:24Speaker 3: imagined before.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yep.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Yeah, So I think that is something that's a big one.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think it'll help all of us because
- 40:31Speaker 3: that when we start stop focusing on that, then everybody
- 40:35Speaker 3: else stops focusing on that.
- 40:36Speaker 1: That's it if that, you know, they say, actually to
- 40:40Speaker 1: like in the theater and you're holding a pen and
- 40:44Speaker 1: you drop it on the floor, And if you don't
- 40:47Speaker 1: pick it up and live in that moment and just
- 40:48Speaker 1: put it back, what's everybody going to start focusing? Yeah,
- 40:51Speaker 1: you know, just just just pick it up and throw
- 40:53Speaker 1: it away. And it's it's dumb analogy maybe, but the
- 40:57Speaker 1: fact is that we can. We can sit there and
- 41:00Speaker 1: highlight something or spotlight something that no one would have known.
- 41:03Speaker 3: No one's talking about it. And for me, you know,
- 41:06Speaker 3: like going up and like my manager.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Gets so angry at me.
- 41:09Speaker 3: I mean, we're very good friends, we love each other,
- 41:11Speaker 3: and she's always like, would you stop.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Telling people how old you are? Like, oh, I don't know.
- 41:16Speaker 3: I just felt like I should say it because of
- 41:18Speaker 3: the case they were, you know, because it was because
- 41:20Speaker 3: it's so weird to me that that's what I have
- 41:22Speaker 3: to let go of.
- 41:23Speaker 2: It's like, girls, stop it's boring, keep it moving, girl.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I will say that I have called out girlfriends to
- 41:29Speaker 1: quit introducing us as the old bitches.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Girl or calling us the theas. I'm like, I'm good
- 41:35Speaker 2: with that, but look at yourself before you call me.
- 41:37Speaker 1: All how old.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Are you my friends? We say, what do you mean?
- 41:41Speaker 4: We?
- 41:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's called us the old bitches.
- 41:46Speaker 1: We have a few of our friends. I loved it.
- 41:48Speaker 1: It's always in jest. It's funny. But one time somebody said,
- 41:51Speaker 1: because we're we're older than dirt. I'm like, who you
- 41:54Speaker 1: talking about? Older than that?
- 41:56Speaker 3: Older than dirt would be like, you know, my dear
- 41:59Speaker 3: fabulous friend who loved I loved so much, who passed away,
- 42:02Speaker 3: Norman Lear.
- 42:03Speaker 2: He was one hundred and one years old.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He was dirty. Yes, he's like he was.
- 42:06Speaker 2: One hundred and one. I mean, if we're saying that,
- 42:09Speaker 2: but we're nowhere near. Yes, he was the best man,
- 42:12Speaker 2: the most.
- 42:12Speaker 1: But if you're going to be one hundred and one,
- 42:13Speaker 1: be one hundred and one like him.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Come on, man by what a life and what a
- 42:18Speaker 2: vibrant man. But you know him and Rita, my god,
- 42:22Speaker 2: Rida's going to be ninety five.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Rea is the epitome of beauty inside and out. And
- 42:28Speaker 1: every time I do see her at one of our things,
- 42:31Speaker 1: I just can't. She's just staring at her.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I loved you in one day. Oh no, you're not
- 42:38Speaker 2: just and you know what I would do?
- 42:44Speaker 1: You're like, yes, Rita.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, yes, just Sita.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yes, I would go with it. Oh my god. I
- 42:52Speaker 1: can't stop staring at her because I look at her
- 42:54Speaker 1: and I'm like, god, she's so beauty.
- 42:56Speaker 2: She's insanely gorgeous.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Oh my god, and she's going to be ninety five
- 42:59Speaker 3: years You would never know.
- 43:01Speaker 1: You know why, because she doesn't. She didn't talk about that. No,
- 43:04Speaker 1: she does. She says it with pride and she moves on.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Now she says it exactly, and I think that that's
- 43:10Speaker 3: I think I'm at a point where I don't even
- 43:12Speaker 3: want to say it. No one's asking me, don't make
- 43:15Speaker 3: it a deal, and I think that's the biggest thing
- 43:17Speaker 3: for me.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Don't make it a big deal.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I agree, all right. But then to bring this to
- 43:22Speaker 1: a close, because you have a lot of good answers,
- 43:25Speaker 1: do you have any questions? And I like to close
- 43:28Speaker 1: it with you posing the question of is it just
- 43:32Speaker 1: me or is anybody else? Blank? And it could be
- 43:37Speaker 1: anything like you know, uh, is.
- 43:41Speaker 2: It just me?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Or is anyone else who is of my age? Thinking
- 43:47Speaker 3: how much time they waste it when they were young
- 43:51Speaker 3: and super hot and fabulous and literally thought you weren't. Yes,
- 43:55Speaker 3: so ridiculous. I try to tell every young woman. I
- 43:59Speaker 3: feel more confident about myself than I did when I
- 44:03Speaker 3: was younger, and I looked way better back then, and
- 44:06Speaker 3: so like, I just try to like tell these young
- 44:09Speaker 3: women to just oh my god, just appreciate where you are,
- 44:12Speaker 3: you know what I mean, and know you're your worth
- 44:15Speaker 3: and your power, because there's so much power and so
- 44:19Speaker 3: much worth, and what a waste of time? What a
- 44:22Speaker 3: waste of time? And so I think about that constantly.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I look at pictures and I'm like, what when I
- 44:28Speaker 3: literally was dogging my self out? Yeah, And then I'm like,
- 44:34Speaker 3: how what a waste of time?
- 44:36Speaker 1: Definitely, And we all know that in fifteen years, we're
- 44:40Speaker 1: going to look back on this moment. We're like I
- 44:42Speaker 1: was a hot piece of ass.
- 44:44Speaker 2: I feel like that right now.
- 44:45Speaker 3: I'm like, you know what, I might have a little
- 44:47Speaker 3: bit of a home, and I'm not opposed to getting
- 44:50Speaker 3: rid of that. By the way, I'll go under the
- 44:52Speaker 3: knife real quick.
- 44:54Speaker 1: You said we're going to do it together, we want I'm.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Good with going under the knife. I don't. I'm not
- 44:59Speaker 2: one of those women that's like, ah, no, do it all.
- 45:01Speaker 3: I will walk out like this, I'll walk out like that,
