Benders & Brews - Episode 11 - When the Party is Over · Session Zero Heroes | TTRPG Actual Play Adventures & Improv Storytelling

0:00
Uh.
0:03
Jasmine, oolong, green
0:06
and white. Long ago, these four
0:08
teas were skilfully brewed at the Blissful Brew.
0:12
Then everything changed when the shop's
0:14
popularity threatened its existence.
0:17
All Mr. Okeron, the shop's owner and tea
0:20
master, could do was to recruit four teenage
0:23
orphans to learn his trade and staff his
0:25
shop. A, uh, year has passed since the orphans were
0:28
hired, and although their skills have progressed, they
0:31
still have a lot to learn before they can brew anything.
0:34
But I believe that they have the potential to make the
0:37
Blissful Brew the greatest tea shop in the
0:39
world. Last time on
0:42
Benders and Brews an Avatar Legends
0:45
Podcast there's a factory in.
0:47
Udao that has been repurposed to make
0:50
large scale weapons. We need you
0:53
to break into the facility and
0:56
hit them in several key points in order
0:59
to severely disable it. The furnace, the
1:02
assembly line, and the casters.
1:04
Nothing a trusty clipboard can't get us into.
1:07
I'm with OSHA, sir. I'm here to,
1:10
uh, do a little check of, uh, your
1:13
construction site, make sure everything's up to code. I'll tell
1:15
Guoha, uh, you go over to the assembly line.
1:18
Uh, Mika, you make your way over to the furnace,
1:23
poke a hole.
1:24
Yeah.
1:25
And I'm gonna put a sledgehammer on.
1:27
My shoulder and start walking towards the caster and just
1:29
break them. Whoa. You're over at the assembly
1:32
line.
1:33
Let's grab a whole tool belt.
1:36
So I'm going to take the crowbar
1:39
and try to pry off, like, the side
1:42
of the assembly line, like the
1:45
guard that's keeping all the stuff on the
1:47
belt. So Guo's going to use the
1:50
hammer now to start untightening,
1:53
uh, bolts underneath there.
1:55
And as you know, things start to buckle a little
1:58
bit on the assembly line and you can hear it
2:00
just to like a stop. You've
2:03
caused such a versatile amount of different
2:06
damage. Uh, a voice emanates from behind
2:09
you, he says, names mayu
2:11
Ninju.
2:18
And welcome back, everybody, to another episode of
2:21
Benderson Brews, season two. Uh,
2:24
we are on the final two
2:26
episodes of season two before we kind of
2:29
finish things up. And then I've got a bit of an
2:32
announcement that'll come your way in the form of kind of its own
2:34
little audio episode thingamaber, um,
2:37
about some changes about some cool new additions that we're adding to
2:40
the show. But whatever the case, we'll get into that later. For now,
2:43
we're doing episode
2:45
eleven of season two. So
2:48
we'll go around the table. We got all everybody's here today,
2:51
uh, get some interesting character facts, starting
2:54
with Connor, aka Brock
2:56
Lee, the earth bending
2:59
moonlighting fighter guy.
3:01
Yeah. Um, so
3:04
kind of pulling from real life here since real
3:07
life.
3:08
Yeah.
3:09
Uh, Brock is consistently late
3:12
to things that he is not told
3:15
about ahead of time. He needs to be
3:18
smacked across the face with the
3:21
plans in order to actually make it
3:23
on time.
3:24
Gotcha. Ah, gotcha is there. Uh, and this is
3:27
outside of Bill, like tricking him into thinking
3:30
like plans.
3:33
Mean, just independently. He's what
3:36
the kids call stupid. So he's stupid
3:39
enough on his own.
3:40
All right, fair enough.
3:42
Geez. Um, awesome. All right, moving.
3:45
He's what they base the expression dumb as a box of
3:47
rocks off of.
3:49
Yeah, that's the one. Uh,
3:52
moving on. We got, uh, Dave, aka.
3:55
GuoHan.
3:57
So GuoHan, he would travel city
4:00
to city with the carnival, and
4:03
he wouldn't always get fed the best. And what he
4:06
did get fed was kind of bland. It's like a
4:09
bowl of oats overnight
4:12
oats or something.
4:13
The cheap stuff.
4:14
Uh, some of the animals ate better than
4:17
he did, for sure. But
4:20
he picked up a bit of foraging skills
4:23
along the way. So as they were traveling, he
4:26
would look at what other
4:29
people were eating and stuff. And he
4:32
figured out what herbs and spices he could
4:35
or plants he could find along the trail
4:38
and add to.
4:38
His he's like he's like
4:41
Remy at the beginning of Ratatouille
4:44
where he finds that chunk of cheese. And he's like, you know what
4:47
would be great with this cheese? And then he found like some I don't even remember
4:50
what it was, some kind of grass or something. And then he
4:53
squeezed a little bit of
4:56
M residue or water or whatever from it.
4:59
Interesting. Oh, that makes sense. That makes sense.
5:02
He's a bit like Arthur Morgan.
5:05
Red dead, too.
5:09
Man. Globe's really making quite the chef
5:12
character.
5:13
He's turning into a bit of a foodie.
5:15
Yeah, he is. I love it. I love it. Awesome. Moving
5:18
on to Cameron, aka. Bill dore
5:22
slash. Uh, you said your real
5:24
name a couple episodes ago.
5:27
Yeah. Trying to remember what it was.
5:30
It was not Ash catch
5:35
as Goldberg blink.
5:37
It was ash unknown. Yeah, that sounds kind of cool,
5:40
actually. Ash Unknown.
5:41
That's his legal name. Okura.
5:47
Wasn't unknown.
5:47
A, uh, Pokemon.
5:50
Oh, no.
5:53
M. Uh, there's my fun
5:56
fact about Bill.
5:57
He's a Pokemon. No.
6:00
Isn't there a weird Pokemon theory that Ash's
6:03
dad is like Mr. Mime or something?
6:06
Well, yeah.
6:07
No, it's Professor Oak.
6:09
Yeah, but also, like, what's
6:12
the relationship between Mr. Mime and Ash's mom?
6:15
I don't know, because he does live.
6:17
There and does all the house chores and stuff. Um,
6:20
but yeah. Okay. Sorry. What is Bill's fan?
6:23
Oh, it was just that his real name is Ash.
6:26
Okay, what I was going to say
6:29
is
6:32
I'm actually going to say what his last name is
6:35
because that could show up later. I don't know. I feel like it's kind
6:38
of an important name.
6:39
Sure.
6:39
It's, uh, not in terms of the.
6:41
Uh don't hold your breath.
6:42
The fiction.
6:43
Well, there's my fun fact then.
6:45
You're just going to drop a no.
6:47
I'm not going to say his last name. I'm just going to drop a hint and say
6:50
that his last name is pretty important.
6:53
No, that's Bill or
6:56
sorry, ash pretty important.
6:57
Ash pretty important? Yes. No, he's
7:00
from a it's like the Clipboard.
7:03
Ash or Bill is from
7:06
a rich family. And that's what
7:09
I mean by he's.
7:10
Are we talking like.
7:14
No, no, not Daddy Warbucks. Is he part of the Shifu family?
7:17
That's why you were able to just.
7:18
Know where the kitchen was and make a sandwich. See, that
7:20
actually is part of it.
7:22
Uh, is that Phil is used to.
7:25
Living in a.
7:28
General ash.
7:29
Ash v bucks.
7:31
V. Bucks.
7:32
Ash lived in a mansion. Bill lives off the land
7:35
with his Bow staff.
7:35
Um, got that fortnite money.
7:38
But both Ash and so good at
7:40
building. But Ash and Bill both
7:45
love his Bow staff.
7:46
Sure.
7:47
Yeah.
7:48
Awesome. Fantastic. That's cryptic,
7:51
for sure. Uh, Michaela aka
7:54
Mika unknown.
7:58
Ah, what is Mika's interesting fact?
8:00
Um, Mika's interesting fact is she loves to
8:03
do puzzles. However, she's
8:06
never completed one. And it's not because she's
8:09
stupid and she can't put a puzzle together. It's because
8:12
there's always one piece missing she can
8:15
never find. You know, could be her fox
8:17
dog that's losing them. Maybe it's one of the boys
8:23
who knows.
8:24
Brock, what are you doing with me? Because puzzle
8:26
pieces.
8:29
He's making a rock puzzle.
8:32
Takes one piece from a puzzle at a time and then
8:35
he just mashes it into one of the whatever.
8:38
He's slowly making a collage of
8:41
odd puzzle pieces.
8:42
He's like, these definitely go together. It's a purple and
8:45
a red. They match, they cry.
8:50
I like to think that, uh he thinks that
8:53
they're like missing pieces. He's like, whoa, I found another missing
8:56
piece for my puzle I'm putting together. And because like,
8:59
dude, it was literally in the box with the other
9:02
pieces. You monster.
9:08
Yeah. You took his piece.
9:09
Yeah. He just looks at and he goes, oh, my gosh, this is the piece I've been
9:12
missing. Smashes it into his
9:15
uh, hey, everybody, I'm Skyler. I'm the game master.
9:19
Interesting, uh, fact about me. I have a
9:22
pack of adult diapers at my work office.
9:25
And not for the reason you think.
9:28
All right, let's go.
9:33
All right. And we're back. Uh, it is
9:35
episode eleven. You guys had
9:38
just gotten to you dow
9:42
one gotten to you dow two.
9:44
You tried to find the mysterious
9:47
Mayu Yinyu that Mr. Okaran had told you about,
9:50
that he had some sort of friendship with. Um,
9:54
and the next clue was going to come from this
9:57
mysterious Mayu Yinyu. Uh, three. You
9:59
guys searched Mayu Yinyu and found the
10:02
theater, the local theater where you
10:05
sort of looked around to try to find answers, find out who he was. And
10:08
instead, you received a mysterious note that gave you
10:11
three options of some sort of job to do
10:14
for a.
10:14
Rebel organization that seems to be
10:17
residing in the city of Udao.
10:19
Uh, they are trying to stop the fire nations
10:22
that are and thank you, Connor Gentrifying.
10:26
Yeah, that was definitely the can you use it that way?
10:29
Gentrifying, I think so.
10:31
Moving people out so you can put in a new
10:34
yep, yep.
10:35
So, um awesome. Yeah, they were doing that to the city
10:38
of Udao, trying to kick out the earthbenders and
10:40
replace the sort of community with firebenders.
10:44
I think that was the biggest plot twist so far in this whole
10:46
show. Brock saying the
10:49
gentrification.
10:54
You know what, though? Given your past, it would kind
10:56
of make sense that you would know about that and what
10:59
happened.
11:00
To some extent, you learned it from the streets.
11:03
The streets.
11:04
Not from books or the fancy readings,
11:07
man.
11:07
People on the streets, they know the vocab.
11:10
We go over our Latin roots.
11:12
That's right. Slang.
11:14
Gentrification slang. Typical
11:16
slang.
11:18
Brock grew up on the corner of Maine and
11:21
Gentrification Street.
11:25
Um, once you guys found, uh, out about
11:28
this organization, like I said, you received that note. Um,
11:31
they asked you to do a job for them. You guys chose the option
11:34
sabotage, which sent you to go sabotage
11:37
a fire, uh, nation factory
11:40
where they were developing some sort of weapons. And thanks
11:43
to the power of Clipboards, uh,
11:46
and calling out the whole OSHA to help
11:49
you, you were successful in this
11:51
endeavor. Um,
11:53
congratulations to all you for that. As you guys were
11:56
leaving the facility, a voice called out
11:59
from behind you. You turn to find a man
12:02
that calls himself Mayu
12:05
Yinyu. And that's where we pick back
12:08
up. He stands there before I do this
12:10
whole pick back up, and it's like I just played for the
12:13
audience, like a whole recap of the episode.
12:16
But it's nice to sort of round
12:19
out that recap. But anyways,
12:22
that's where you guys are standing at. He stands before you, he
12:25
says, well, that was a pretty impressive
12:28
job you guys just pulled there. I gotta say,
12:31
uh, I wasn't thinking to be quite so successful,
12:33
but well done. My name is
12:36
Mayu Yinyu. Uh, what are your
12:39
names?
12:42
Well, names? Uh, Yinyu yuma.
12:45
Nice to meet you, Yin Yu
12:47
Yuma.
12:48
Now, hey, I gotta ask, you know the
12:50
gal, uh, that is your mother that gave you that name?
12:53
Uh, Shiver. Talk about me?
12:58
Uh, never actually met my
13:01
mother.
13:03
I'm pretty sure she must be a fan if she gave you a name
13:06
like that. Uh, nice to meet you. Uh,
13:10
sorry, what was it again?
13:12
I'm just kidding. My name is Glow.
13:14
Oh, you got me. You
13:17
got me good. Uh, but hey, you know what? That's a lot
13:20
easier to remember. Nice, uh, to meet you. Guo.
13:22
You'd be surprised.
13:26
I didn't think about that.
13:29
Uh, who are the rest of you, uh,
13:32
kids? I wasn't even expecting kids, to be honest with
13:35
you. I thought, uh, you guys would be full grown adults. But, uh, hey,
13:38
that's what I get for assuming.
13:40
And we assumed that you'd be a.
13:43
You know, assumptions go both ways and, uh,
13:46
they make us both look like
13:49
donkey ah, birds.
13:51
So I'm bill.
13:53
No. Bill. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you.
13:55
I'm Brock.
13:56
Brock. All right on you're tall glass
13:59
of water, my friend.
14:01
Yes, sir. And I still have my very powerful clipboard. Thank you for
14:03
noticing.
14:04
Yeah, that's quite the clipboard there. Looks, uh, like
14:06
genuine made out of rocks.
14:09
Yes, out of rocks. Is it heavy?
14:12
No, not really.
14:14
Right on. Hey, big strong guy like yourself, I
14:16
can't imagine it'd be much to you.
14:19
Yeah, it's nothing, really.
14:21
All right. On. And who's, uh, this, uh, little
14:24
lady right here? Mika. M
14:27
Mika. All right on. Nice to meet you, Mika. Uh,
14:30
well, fantastic. Where are you guys from? What made
14:33
you so interested in, uh, myself
14:36
and the rescue team squadron?
14:40
We worked for Mr. Okuron and, uh
14:43
Mr. Okuron.
14:44
Now, see, there's a guy. There's a guy.
14:47
There's a guy right there. There's a guy. There's a nice
14:50
guy. Good guy.
14:53
Still running that tea? Get that tea shop opened up.
14:56
I'm just kidding. I know he got that tea shop open up. I saw him a couple
14:59
of weeks ago. About a month ago. How long was it? That
15:02
was about a month ago. Maybe a little longer.
15:04
Do we tell him? Uh, sure.
15:07
Nothing to tell.
15:08
Yeah, there's plenty to tell.
15:10
He's discussing something to tell. It sounds
15:13
like there's something to tell.
15:14
Yeah, we're here about something important.
15:17
All right.
15:18
Mr. Okaron, right? He's dead.
15:22
And, uh, this guy has been
15:25
pretty smiley and chuckly
15:28
and real charismatic, but, uh, you definitely
15:31
see a, uh, real sadness kind of fall across his
15:34
face. This sort of, like, graven, uh,
15:38
physique, you could say, kind of comes over
15:41
him. And, uh, he looks down at the ground. He kind of just kind of
15:44
kicks at the dirt. And he's like, well, ah,
15:47
that's not cool. Uh, that's a
15:50
real bummer, for sure.
15:51
Uh, how'd you know him?
15:53
Oh, man, me and Okaron, man, we went way back.
15:56
He came to, uh you dow? I was
15:58
performing, but I had a
16:01
sore throat. And
16:04
not trying to brag or anything, but I'm a pretty big deal around
16:07
these parts, and, uh, I've been performing for a long
16:10
time. Not that I'm old or anything. I mean,
16:13
I'm only, like, 32 after.
16:16
Okay, 34, you got me. But I digress.
16:19
I'm only 34. Uh,
16:22
like I said, I'm pretty good at what I do, and, uh,
16:25
so it was a big nerve wracking
16:27
deal to know that I was about to go on stage,
16:30
perform in front of a bunch of people, and, I mean, my
16:33
throat was messed up and there
16:36
was nothing I could do, and I just left. I just ran out of
16:38
there. They had to do, like, an encore performance for my,
16:41
uh, opening acts because I wasn't there. And they're
16:44
freaking out. They're running all over. Only thing I could think of to do.
16:47
Go get some tea. Maybe that'll help you get a sore throat. Get a
16:50
frog in your throat. Whatever the case, you drink some tea, put some honey in
16:53
there sometimes it helps work itself out. Sure enough,
16:56
uh, I see this little traveling, uh, this chunky guy
16:59
running a little tea stand or whatever, just make his
17:02
way through you down. I don't even think he was living here at the time. Well,
17:05
I know he wasn't. I talked to him afterwards. I digress. Anyway, so,
17:08
uh, he gives me this tea, and he's like, this will fix you
17:10
right up. He does a pretty good impression of, uh, Mr. Oak
17:13
Run, and, uh, I drink that, and, man, I
17:16
don't think I ever sounded better. I'm not going to lie to
17:19
you. Uh, it's pretty fantastic. I ran back to theater,
17:22
I gave him some tickets, he came along.
17:24
I think he left the show a little early because he just sold
17:27
tea to the people as they were leaving, which,
17:30
hey, got to love the Hustle, but, uh, yeah,
17:33
we had a couple of drinks, and, uh, offered to let him stay at
17:36
my place for a couple of days. We really got to know each other,
17:39
and he's just a generally great guy. Sometimes I go
17:42
down to Galing. Is that where you guys are from, then?
17:45
Uh, none of us are. Right.
17:47
That's where we live currently. Yeah,
17:50
that's where we came from.
17:51
Right. Okay. Right on. That's probably how
17:54
you met him.
17:55
We all worked at at his shop.
17:57
Oh, really? So he did get it up and go. Well, like I said, I knew
18:00
it, but I didn't know he had, like, a full staff. I mean, that's a
18:03
lot more than he kind of he said it was just, like, a little old tea shop, and
18:05
I'm just thinking his little mobile whatnot that he
18:08
had going and wow. That's awesome.
18:12
I guess it's not as awesome because he's
18:15
not around anymore, but, um, we.
18:18
All have our time.
18:19
Yeah, I suppose so. Yeah. Man, I'm going to
18:22
miss that guy.
18:23
But we're doing what we can to keep the shop
18:26
open. You see, after he died, they
18:29
wanted to close it. And the only
18:32
way that we can keep it open is if we can
18:35
get his will. But
18:38
he, for some reason, carefully
18:40
hidden his will behind a
18:43
series of riddles
18:46
puzzles. Like a will
18:49
scavenger, huh? Hunt and you
18:52
were the next clue.
18:56
What was the last clue that you found?
18:59
Gohan you
19:01
found this guy.
19:04
He has the last oh,
19:07
that's a good one.
19:09
No, we found, um,
19:12
this box with a letter.
19:15
Well, it had letters on the bottom. We had
19:18
to read between the lines.
19:19
Of the letter, right.
19:22
To find you. What was the last clue? I don't
19:25
remember.
19:26
Out of curiosity, uh, you mentioned
19:29
a box. It wasn't by any chance, like, a music
19:32
box, was it?
19:34
It was a music box, yes.
19:36
Interesting. Well, that would explain the
19:39
weird package I got from him a couple of weeks
19:42
ago.
19:43
A couple of weeks ago?
19:44
Yeah. He sent me this weird package. I opened it up
19:47
and there was a columba in there,
19:50
which I thought was OD, because he knows
19:53
I play, but it's not
19:56
like I've ever needed one.
19:59
And it didn't seem all that I'm not trying to
20:02
sound rude or anything, but it didn't seem different from
20:05
just like your typical everyday columba whatever,
20:07
but it was a nice gift. And there was, like a
20:10
weird letter in there and it mentioned something
20:13
about some kids that would come
20:16
asking for it, which
20:19
I've been talking this whole time, and that just didn't click with me
20:22
until just now. So, uh
20:25
hey, that's probably you guys.
20:28
Do you have that columba on you?
20:30
All right, so that's where things get a little bit
20:33
complicated. Um, hey,
20:37
we're really close to that factory. Why don't you guys come
20:40
with me back to the base? Now that I know that you
20:43
guys are pretty chill and you guys are friends with Okoran, I feel like
20:46
I can trust you guys. Uh, why don't you guys come with me to the
20:49
base and we can explain everything and I can help you figure
20:52
out how to get this columba. Uh, because I'm actually in a
20:55
little bit of a dilemma with it as well. Not the columba per
20:58
se, but something adjacent to it. And, uh,
21:01
I could probably use your guys'help. You guys could use my help.
21:04
I think it'll be a solid situation for everybody,
21:07
honestly. If that's cool with
21:10
you guys.
21:11
Sure. Yeah.
21:12
Awesome. So, uh, he leads the way, and
21:15
he takes a few twists and turns. Uh, but he kind of keeps you guys
21:18
just on the outskirts of the city. You guys go through
21:21
some bushes and some other stuff. Feels kind of weird. He's just,
21:23
like, leading you almost into the deeper into the
21:26
woods outside the city. Um, and so the
21:29
city itself kind of sits on top of a cliffside.
21:32
So he takes you over close to the edge of the cliffside and he
21:35
pulls back some bushes and you see what looks like
21:38
one of those mail shoots. Kind of like what you saw
21:41
in the Avatar show, right? The mail
21:44
shoots that they use to move little slides that they can
21:47
send packages all across the city on, right? And they got one of
21:50
these mail shoots and they got a little cart on the top of it's.
21:53
Pretty wide, large cart. You can probably fit a few people in it.
21:56
Um, there's like maybe three of these carts sitting up
21:58
there. And he's like,
22:01
all right, this is how we get to the base. Hop on
22:04
in. He hops into one of the front
22:07
carts. He motions for you guys to join him in
22:10
either his cart or one of the other carts.
22:12
I hop in the cart with him.
22:13
All right.
22:14
I feel like you should hop in the cart with him since you can't really bend your
22:17
way over there. I would imagine they
22:19
require have a bow staff.
22:22
I could hit that. Okay, fine. I'll hop
22:25
in this cart.
22:26
You can hop in any of the carts. I don't think everybody's going to fit in
22:29
one cart.
22:30
I'll hop in a different cart. Hop in the one with Bill, because otherwise we'll
22:33
probably get stranded there.
22:34
I'm not meek. Are you hopping
22:37
in? Rock your own cart. All right. I can use
22:40
my bow staff to paddle.
22:42
Okay, fine. I won't help. And you paddle this bow.
22:45
I don't think we need a paddle. It's pretty downhill.
22:48
That's true.
22:49
Oh, it's downhill?
22:50
Oh, yeah.
22:51
Oh, I thought it was like a railroad track.
22:53
So basically, it's going off the
22:55
cliff, like, almost over. Just
22:58
nothingness.
22:59
Right.
22:59
And then it seems to kind of curve off down towards
23:02
lower cliffside.
23:04
Brock, I think you're going to love this
23:07
for sure.
23:08
Um, all right, so stick your hands
23:10
up. More fun.
23:15
Mayu Yinyu pushes off his with glow in
23:18
it. Um, Bill, I'm
23:20
assuming you're pushing off with your stick as best you can.
23:23
It takes a little bit, but sure enough yeah, you're able to push it onto
23:26
the track. And once you're kind of on that, it starts to just kind of carry you
23:29
down. Um, Mika, what are you doing to get
23:32
yours going?
23:33
Um, I am using my water
23:36
from my thing,
23:39
my drink catcher.
23:41
How describe to me what this looks like.
23:44
Um, well, I'm using it to push
23:47
from behind, so it's just like, okay.
23:50
A whirlpool in it. And since pushing okay.
23:53
So then it's just kind of like, donking the back of it until it gets onto the
23:56
track. Okay, cool. All right. So you're able to push yours
23:58
onto the, uh, track as well. And that kind of,
24:01
again, inertia kicks in and you guys start going down. It is a pretty
24:04
wild ride, lots of speed. Some of you
24:07
may be lifting your hands up in the air because it feels kind of like a roller
24:10
coaster. So basically what it does is it curves off the
24:13
edge of this cliff over just nothingness you can see
24:16
just underneath as you look ahead on the track,
24:19
there are some tall, uh,
24:22
sections of wood that kind of hold this track up as you go
24:24
down. But, I mean, it's not big and
24:27
it looks super sturdy, so it's a little
24:30
bit nerve wracking. But as you guys kind of come around this
24:33
curve, you can see that what it does is it kind of just
24:35
shoots you right into the side of the cliff. There's a big
24:38
opening, and you just go right inside. Yeah,
24:41
you go right inside this big opening. And then once you get
24:44
into the opening, uh, everything's just pitch black. But you're still on
24:47
the move, uh, which is absolutely terrifying because you
24:50
don't know where you're going at the moment.
24:53
Mayu um Yinyu shouts behind him,
24:56
don't worry. It's a little bit scary, but, uh, we're going to be
24:59
okay. Trust me. I just came down this earlier today,
25:01
and it's good to go. Don't worry. Um,
25:04
and sure enough, eventually, uh, you can see a light at the end
25:07
of the tunnel. And as you guys come to the end of that, it opens
25:10
up into this massive cave.
25:13
Um, I'm talking, like, city
25:16
sized. As you guys kind of slide
25:18
into this, you can see, um, small
25:21
buildings actually passing by you as you kind of come
25:24
in and you see people. There are people in there. There's
25:27
hundreds, probably, of people that are inside of this cave.
25:30
Um, they're moving from these buildings to buildings. It's
25:33
almost like a mini town inside of this
25:36
massive cavern that seems to sit underneath
25:39
the entire city of Udao. And eventually,
25:42
your cart slows to a stop, and there's kind of like a little end
25:45
of the track section as it slows. Um, and
25:48
as you guys reach that, there's a couple of guys, uh,
25:51
Earthbenders there wearing Earthbender
25:53
uniforms. And as you guys get out, they kind of,
25:56
like, use some Earthbending to kind of start pushing,
25:59
um, the carts back up the mail chute,
26:02
and you stand inside of this
26:04
massive rescue, uh, team squadron
26:07
base that, like I said, is almost like a small town
26:10
underneath the city of Yudao. And
26:13
Mayu Yinyu looks at you guys and he says, well,
26:16
I bet you guys are pretty surprised, right? We got quite
26:19
the operation going on down here. What do you think?
26:23
Kind of seems to be expected for a secret
26:26
group organization.
26:28
Well, she's not very easily impressed.
26:31
Fair enough.
26:32
Uh, well, I'll say this is a pretty solid
26:35
base. Cracking.
26:37
Thank you. See, now this guy gets
26:40
it. See, this is a lot better than our old base. We actually had
26:43
an above ground base, uh, before,
26:45
and this is kind of boring, right? Seems kind
26:48
of stupid, right? It
26:51
was. Uh, but this underground one is, like, way
26:53
cooler. And, uh, if I'm being
26:56
honest with you guys, this is actually the
26:59
rescue team squadron, like, their entire
27:02
organization's main base. This is, like, a
27:05
pretty big deal. Uh, the other one that we
27:08
had, the old one, that was just like the Udao base, but we ended
27:11
up moving it because we got found out.
27:14
Uh, that was awkward, so we came down here
27:17
instead. Uh, don't try
27:20
to go back through the tunnel. Just FYI,
27:23
you couldn't see me, but I was deactivating traps along
27:26
the way, so if you go back down there, they're going to be activated
27:29
again, and.
27:30
That'S not are you bluffing?
27:32
No. I mean, I'm just trying to keep you guys safe.
27:35
If you want to leave, let me know and we'll take the safe
27:38
way out.
27:38
Seems like you're bluffing.
27:40
Uh, hey, um,
27:44
you do you, man.
27:47
Like I said, I'm just doing this for your safety,
27:50
letting you know. But, uh, whatever the case. Yeah. Uh,
27:53
welcome. Welcome to the rescue team squadron base. Uh, I'll
27:56
take you guys over to kind of the main area. You uh, guys can
27:59
meet the other important people like myself
28:03
and uh, yeah, we can kind of get you guys informed
28:06
on what the plan is. So as you guys are walking
28:09
and make your way through this, like I said, practically a town,
28:11
um, you see a lot of different things. There's stations, uh,
28:14
where blacksmiths are working to make weapons.
28:17
There's training areas where rebel soldiers are working on their
28:20
fighting styles and they're bending. Uh, there's
28:22
medical bays where healers are taking care of the weak and
28:25
sick. Not all of them. You can look and you see that
28:28
not all of them are rebel soldiers. Some of them are just kind of general
28:31
citizens. There's children, there's elderly,
28:34
um, just like earth bending, water
28:37
bending and or sorry, Earth
28:40
Kingdom, Water Nation, et cetera.
28:43
Just individuals just kind of seem to exist here. It's
28:46
a very like melting pot of the Avatar
28:49
Society. Um, there's other similar
28:52
facilities you might pass by. It just a little too
28:55
fast to be able to see what it is that they do there. But I digress,
28:58
like I said, it's very much like an entire
29:00
city down here. Um, you actually
29:03
even watch as some earthbenders are just kind of using
29:06
their earth bending to kind of erect a uh,
29:09
little house for a small family that's just kind of
29:12
sitting there. And they go inside and you can see them doing a bunch
29:15
of stuff to make the furniture and
29:18
the other parts of the inside of the house and everything. So
29:21
you can tell that thanks to the Earthbender's ability to
29:24
manipulate the stone and manipulate the Earth, um,
29:27
it's really easy for them to put up a base like this, uh, to
29:30
really just build the buildings that they need and so on and so forth. So
29:33
as you guys uh, continue following Mayu, you come to
29:35
what looks like a big kind of open
29:39
concept facility, uh,
29:41
where there's a big circular table kind of in the middle
29:44
of this space and there's a number of
29:47
individuals that are kind of bent over it. And as you guys enter, you see
29:50
a map of what looks like, uh, it's kind of a 3d
29:53
map, actually, because, again, Earth bending. It's all little, like,
29:56
stone miniatures.
29:58
And you see them kind of like, pointing
30:01
at different spots on this, what looks to be a large
30:04
building or facility, kind, um, of
30:07
set inside of what seems to be like ruins.
30:10
Uh, and they're all kind of analyzing it or pointing out
30:13
spots and talking to each other. And as you guys are
30:15
walking in here, Brock, uh, you actually
30:18
notice a familiar face here?
30:20
Oh, do I?
30:21
Yes, you see. Sora your friend
30:24
who helped you break out of prison girl
30:27
back friend.
30:29
Do I know?
30:30
You do.
30:33
And she seems. To be kind of just standing,
30:36
um, kind, uh,
30:39
of just overseeing it. But as you guys approach, she looks up
30:42
and she sees you, and her eyes get really wide,
30:45
and she starts waving. And you hear a
30:48
shout out, oh, my gosh.
30:50
Brock Lee. What in the world are you doing
30:52
here? Did you finally decide to join up with us?
30:55
Actually, if I'm honest, I had no idea this place
30:58
existed until about ten minutes ago.
31:00
And by this point, of course, all the other individuals have kind of stopped their
31:03
planning or whatever it is they're doing. They're looking at you guys as you approach.
31:06
She says, Well, I for 01:00 a.m. So glad you found
31:09
us. How the heck have you been?
31:11
Uh, I've been doing all right ever since, uh, we broke out.
31:14
I've just been laying low, working at a tea shop,
31:17
and now we're on this sort of wild goose
31:20
chase treasure hunt to let us out here.
31:22
Right on. Look at you, making something of yourself.
31:25
Say, did you ever get into that fighting ring or
31:28
whatever it was you talked about to help you get stronger?
31:30
Uh, here and there, a little bit, but, uh,
31:33
yeah.
31:34
You gotten any stronger since the last time I saw you?
31:36
And she throws a punch at your
31:39
shoulder?
31:40
Uh, a little bit.
31:42
Well, you'll have to show me later. Right now, we're in the middle of
31:45
a planning session, actually. I'm glad he can make it.
31:48
What's going on?
31:49
And Mayu looks at me, he's like, hey, yeah, i, uh,
31:52
found these kids. Uh, they kind of answered our little,
31:55
like, help wanted ad. Remember what, uh, we were looking for
31:58
somebody to take down the factory? Yeah. These kids did it.
32:00
Sora's, like, I'm not even surprised knowing that
32:03
Brock was involved. He helped me bust out all those
32:06
Earthbenders out of that prison camp way back when. You all
32:09
remember that, right?
32:10
And they're like, oh, yeah. Wow. Yeah. Okay.
32:12
Very impressive. Yeah.
32:14
Me and Sora built the Underground Railroad together.
32:17
That's right, we did. Although we didn't have a
32:20
train.
32:20
There was no train. But I just have a feeling
32:22
that's, uh, a cool name.
32:25
Yeah, I like it. It's a great
32:27
name. Kind of has a cool Earthbender ring.
32:30
To, uh,
32:32
to or Mayo Yinyu kind of starts pointing everybody out, and he's like,
32:35
well, I better introduce all these guys. All uh,
32:38
right, so right over here you got General Ming. He's, uh, kind of
32:41
the lead figure. And standing before you, you see this very
32:44
stern, uh, gray bearded,
32:47
uh, Earth Kingdom dressed. You know, he's got a lot of
32:50
badges on his Earth Kingdom
32:53
armor. Uh, he's got, like, armor on, so.
32:56
He got a nice hat.
32:57
He is hatless, actually.
33:00
Which means that if you were to get a hat, you'd be,
33:03
I guess, a step ahead of him. I don't know, I don't really know.
33:05
How that works in your badges are pretty nice.
33:08
Oh, no, he switched the badges. But, uh,
33:11
yes, he looks very stern. And he just kind of gives you one of those
33:14
as he gives you a slight nod as you approach.
33:17
She points over. She says, over there, we got
33:21
sorry. Uh, then Mayu points at Sora
33:24
and he says, uh, this is Colonel Sora
33:26
Bola. Uh, it sounds like Brock,
33:29
you guys already know each other. So I mean, that's kind of helpful.
33:32
Uh, you guys see Sora, she's actually about your
33:35
age. Uh, but she, too, wears some very nice
33:38
earthbending kind of military clothes. She
33:41
has a couple of badges as well. They're different badges. If
33:44
you look back closely, they're different badges than what the General
33:47
has. But, um, she just kind of has a big old smile
33:50
on her face. Uh, she has like, blonde hair, if I remember
33:52
correctly. It's kind of short. It's about to like
33:55
her. I don't know, chin line. I don't know
33:58
how to her shoulders pretty close. Yeah, just
34:01
shy of her shoulders. Um, got a little bit of
34:04
freckles going on. And, uh, like I said, she's just got a big
34:06
smile on her face. She's pretty excited to see her old friend
34:09
Brock. Uh, mayu continues.
34:12
He points over. He says this is a major
34:14
sato. And Sato is wearing a
34:17
waterbender clothing. Uh, he is also
34:20
an older man, uh, very thin,
34:23
uh, unshaven. He has these large,
34:26
wide brimmed glasses on. And he reaches up and
34:29
he adjusts them with one of his
34:31
central fingers, like some sort of anime
34:34
protagonist character. And he
34:37
says, it's a pleasure to meet you.
34:41
Uh, he points over to the next person. He says. Uh,
34:44
this is Captain Lena. And you see a woman
34:47
standing there and, uh, she gives you all a smile and she's like,
34:49
hey, it's great to see you guys here. It's great to have, uh,
34:52
some more, uh, people helping us out.
34:56
She, uh, just seems like a bright person. Uh, she doesn't wear
34:59
clothing that alludes to being a part of any
35:01
oh, sorry, I'm going to have to
35:04
rephrase that. Uh, she doesn't wear anything
35:07
that gosh
35:11
the clothing she has on doesn't elude that
35:14
she's part of any particular nation. It's sort of like
35:17
gray colors mixed, uh, with
35:20
some, uh, maybe some neutral yellow. Uh,
35:23
sounds weird to pair with gray. I don't
35:26
know. She's sure, yeah,
35:28
orange, but she doesn't seem fire
35:31
nation, just based on the style. She just kind of
35:34
seems unaffiliated, let's say that,
35:37
uh, he continues. He says, over there we got Dr.
35:39
Takah. Uh, sorry, over there we got
35:42
Docker. Docker.
35:44
Dockers soccer. We got a pair of Dockers. If
35:47
anybody needs some pants, maybe
35:50
over there we got Dr. Takahashi.
35:53
Um, he's our
35:56
medic. And you see another man. He's, uh, just
35:59
kind of standing at attention. He's just got a nice smile, but he seems
36:02
very silent. And he just gives you a very kind
36:04
nod. Uh, next up we
36:07
got engineer, uh, Nakamura and
36:10
Technician Kim. Uh, I mentioned them both together
36:13
because and they kind of like, put their arms around
36:16
each other and they wave. It's a nice couple. They're
36:18
like, uh, maybe in their 40s, early
36:21
40s, um, because they're together, they're
36:24
married. Uh, so, yeah, Nakamura and
36:27
Kim, they're ah, like, well, it's
36:30
so great to have you guys here. Yes, it's always great to
36:32
see you next generation taking
36:35
part in what we do around here.
36:38
And then, of course, we get back to myself.
36:41
Mayu Yinyu. I'm kind of, uh, the
36:43
voice, some say the face of the
36:46
rebellion. Uh,
36:49
yeah, whatever the case, uh, I lead a lot of the protest stuff. Uh,
36:52
some of the more like putting up posters
36:55
that say, up yours to the Fire
36:58
Nation. That kind of good stuff. The stuff that really gets
37:01
the common folk going, yeah, I
37:04
like this guy. I like this guy. He says, Queen Eku. He
37:07
gets it. He sees my end of things. He sees what I'm
37:09
doing. He knows I'm working hard. He knows it's
37:12
important. Anyways, uh, anyway, that's everybody,
37:15
uh, uh, are you guys working on
37:18
the plans right now? And the General goes,
37:21
yes, in fact, uh, we've gotten quite a
37:24
ways through since you've been gone, Mayu. And
37:27
Mayu is like, well, this side of
37:30
things isn't really my side of the operations. And he's like,
37:33
well, we always appreciate having extra
37:35
input, so it's nice to
37:38
have you around. Well,
37:41
that's right, it is. And thanks for saying so,
37:44
General. And you guys again, like I said, you look
37:47
over and you see what seems to be, um, some sort
37:50
of a large building that's kind of built into
37:53
the ruins that seem to
37:55
exist, uh, somewhere. You're not really sure what this is.
37:58
Sora steps forward and she says, oh, right.
38:01
Sorry about that. So a, uh, basic rundown of
38:03
the current situation. This is actually our new
38:06
permanent base that you're currently standing in. It's a lot
38:09
better than our old base, which was actually above ground. And
38:12
because of that fact, it didn't really work out too well.
38:15
See, about a week ago, the Fire Nation actually caught
38:18
onto our activities and discovered our base. So we had to flee down
38:21
here, which wasn't a huge issue, except for the fact
38:24
that in our hurry to leave the old base, we left some pretty
38:27
important plans and documents behind. If the Fire
38:30
Nation gets their hands on them, we're going to be in hot water.
38:33
Thankfully, they haven't gone to anything currently.
38:36
They have a specialist coming who works with avoiding rebel
38:39
traps and cybering rebel codes. He's not here
38:42
yet, so we're planning a bit of a break in, or heist, if you will,
38:44
to steal back the important stuff before he gets here.
38:48
Is that where our music box is?
38:50
Mayu steps in, he's like, yes, uh, that's where I left
38:53
the, uh, columba. Unfortunately, it
38:55
wasn't among the things that I had time to grab on our way
38:58
running out of there. And so looks
39:01
like it's time to.
39:02
Dust off the old clipboard.

40:52
Let's get back to the show.
40:59
Everything that comes out of his mouth, I feel
41:02
like is a lie.
41:04
My m mouth.
41:05
Mr. M mayu Yingu
41:08
Yinyu.
41:10
Trust him.
41:11
He just seems too carefree and like,
41:14
yeah, man, that's totally where it's at.
41:16
Brock super carefree.
41:18
But Brock sounds more
41:22
what?
41:23
Go ahead, finish your
41:29
what.
41:32
Mayu Yinyu seems like a great guy, uh, to
41:34
me.
41:35
Mika quote you love everybody.
41:41
That's not true.
41:43
I hate some people.
41:45
Okay, who do you hate besides just a
41:48
general group of fire nation?
41:51
Uh, I never said I hate the fire.
41:55
Hey, that is trader. No, I'm just
41:58
kidding.
42:03
Well, for one, the carnival
42:06
owner. M okay, not
42:09
too funny.
42:10
Can't blame you there.
42:11
Why?
42:13
Because he treated me like a garbage
42:16
slave dog and
42:19
a lot of words. Made me do all sorts of nasty
42:22
stuff cleaning up the place.
42:24
Oh. I was like, Man, I hope he follows that up, because, uh, that sounds
42:27
really bad.
42:30
He just stops.
42:32
He made me do all kinds of disgusting things. It's
42:34
like, oh, are you okay, buddy?
42:38
Poor GuoHan. Yeah, no wonder you hate him.
42:41
He's been through some stuff.
42:42
He's been through us.
42:43
I don't know, I just think you're not very trusting,
42:46
Mika.
42:47
Why would I be?
42:49
At least she's honest about that.
42:51
Well, I mean, this is a guy that Mr.
42:53
Okaron specifically told us to go talk
42:56
to. And if Mr. Okeron
42:59
trusts him, I feel like we should as
43:02
well.
43:02
Yeah, but we never heard of him. Just because it was friends with him.
43:05
Years ago doesn't mean there's a lot.
43:07
Of people Mr. Okaron knows that we have never heard
43:10
of.
43:11
He seems like great father material.
43:13
Not that I'm looking.
43:14
Not that I'm looking.
43:17
Here's the thing. Uh, old Mayu here is
43:20
probably the father to many, but, uh, I didn't know he could
43:22
hear.
43:28
I have to go to the bathroom.
43:31
It's right over that way there, little.
43:33
Buddy guo runs
43:36
up scampers,
43:38
scampers, hiding his face.
43:42
Uh, the general continues. He says yes.
43:44
Uh, the specialist isn't expected
43:47
until tomorrow morning, so we have a narrow
43:50
window tonight to break into the facility.
43:52
Specialist is, uh, a fire Nation guy?
43:55
Yes.
43:55
Do you know who it is?
43:57
Yes. Our sources
44:00
tell us that they've called for none other
44:03
than Wang Long. No.
44:06
What?
44:07
Wang Long?
44:09
General Wang Long? Yes. We've,
44:11
uh, had dealings with him quite a few times,
44:14
actually. Uh, sora you're familiar with him? And she
44:17
goes know him.
44:18
He was a guy Brock and I had to get through in order to escape that prison
44:21
camp.
44:23
He ran the prison? He ran the prison camp, if I
44:26
remember right.
44:27
Uh, so you were the first. The first
44:30
to outsmart him and one of the last.
44:33
He's kind of spent his time ever since then
44:35
hunting down members of the rescue team
44:38
squadron. It's become sort of his personal
44:41
goal. And apparently he's talked to the
44:44
Fire Nation leaders, and they've kind of allowed him that as
44:47
an assignment to just specialize
44:50
in us, I guess.
44:52
So he ran a prison camp?
44:54
Yeah, he ran a prison camp.
44:56
Is that all he did? No, that's not all.
44:58
I think that was his beginnings in the Fire
45:01
Nation leadership, you could say.
45:04
Oh, I know of
45:07
him, but that's not how he started.
45:11
How do you know of him?
45:13
Well, last I heard of the guy, he was taking a bunch of
45:15
weapons over to the Earth Kingdom to go destroy
45:18
countrysides. Well, he
45:20
used did he do that, too?
45:23
Take down the city that he turned into
45:26
a prison camp?
45:27
So he did do that?
45:28
Yes. It was a horrible, horrible thing.
45:32
He, uh, moonlighted, uh, as a prison camp
45:34
warden. The
45:37
memory is a little fuzzy. It's been so long
45:40
since I've tried to repress it
45:43
in my mind.
45:45
So my eustops were he's like, wait a minute. So let me
45:47
get this right. So timeline. You got this
45:50
guy Wang Long becomes some sort of big shot. For
45:53
whatever reason, in the Fire Nation has a
45:56
bunch of big mass weapons
45:59
of destruction built over the Fire Nation
46:02
brings them across the water into the Earth
46:05
nation uses them to attack the village that
46:08
Brock apparently lived at.
46:11
Turned it into a prison camp where Brock was
46:13
held. We send Sora in to
46:16
bust him out, and,
46:19
well, I guess the rest is history. Well, not just
46:22
you. Uh, just to clarify, there
46:25
it was.
46:25
The whole got everybody?
46:27
Yeah. Wow.
46:30
And then, of course, Bill,
46:33
you knew about the weapons and stuff?
46:36
Yeah.
46:37
Really?
46:37
I was apparently on the ship with the
46:40
weapons. Really? Yeah.
46:42
What a small freaking world.
46:45
Yeah.
46:45
And then we ran into pirates.
46:47
Who's we? You and Wang Long? No.
46:50
Okuron.
46:52
Get out of town. Mr. Okeron was on the
46:55
boat with you and Wang Long and
46:58
the weapons, correct?
46:59
Yeah.
46:59
Holy crap. Give me a moment,
47:02
everybody. Just give me a moment. I'm thinking on this
47:05
one. Wow.
47:07
Yeah. It's a small world, isn't it?
47:09
Talk about origin stories. I gotta
47:12
say.
47:15
You couldn't write it any better.
47:17
You couldn't write this any more.
47:19
Connected. Hold on, hold on. Whoa. Do you know
47:22
Wang Long?
47:27
Mika. Do you know Wang Long? No,
47:31
I just took a simple
47:35
huh. Uh, all right, well, okay, we're not all connected, but hey, that's
47:38
all right. That's all right. Uh, we're connected now. That's what's
47:40
important.
47:41
Are we?
47:42
Sure? Yeah. I mean, we're all here. We all know Mr. OCar.
47:45
Together. Yeah. Mr. Okaron. Yeah.
47:49
All right. Yeah. I wonder if Guo knows
47:51
him.
47:52
Maybe Guo knows a lot of people.
47:55
Maybe he likes going to carnivals. Then maybe Guo know him.
47:58
Maybe Guo comes back from the bathroom,
48:01
smells like connecting exposition in here.
48:07
You've heard of my
48:09
cologne?
48:10
Miami turns to you and he's like, guo,
48:13
I got a story for you. And he just starts, like,
48:16
relaying that quietly to you in the corner while
48:19
the rest of you guys are all sitting around the plan.
48:22
No, that's his name?
48:26
Yeah. And he didn't like people making and.
48:28
Then you just see Maya Yinyu kind of, like, stops for a second, and
48:31
he's like, what? I didn't even
48:34
think about that. What a stupid name. Can
48:37
you imagine parents? Maybe that's why he turned
48:40
into an angry, hateful Fire Nation
48:43
general. I guess that'd do it to
48:46
me, too.
48:47
Wait, so is that the
48:50
guy who sold the scepter? No.
48:55
That was the Pirate Captain, uh, that
48:58
later attacked the ship.
49:00
I don't know Wing Long, do I?
49:02
No. Okay. Your
49:05
backstory is only the furthest disconnect.
49:09
Only two of us know Wang Wong.
49:11
Yes, I've heard rumors of Wang
49:14
Long.
49:15
I've heard of.
49:20
The locker room.
49:23
I never thought I'd hear that name again, though.
49:25
Uh oh, yeah, uh, he's become a pretty
49:28
big thorn in our side, that's for sure.
49:30
How long has he been terrorizing the Earth Kingdom?
49:32
Oh, man. Well,
49:35
let's see. The planning that he was initially
49:38
doing leading up to it probably spanned back
49:42
a decade. Almost.
49:44
He's been growing for a while, but now we think he's at his
49:47
peak.
49:49
Stop, whatever the case.
49:53
Uh, yeah, he's been terrorizing. Would have been, like,
49:56
is he the only five years
49:58
maybe?
49:59
Is there other Fire Nation
50:02
dudes generals who are terrorizing
50:05
the Earth Kingdom, or is he, like, one of the lead ones?
50:07
He's kind of one of the lead ones.
50:10
That's the biggest difficulty that we've been having with,
50:13
uh, the rescue team squadron is he
50:16
just keeps attacking these border
50:20
to the ocean cities, these small little
50:22
cities, earth Nation
50:25
cities out on the outskirts of the Earth
50:28
Kingdom. And
50:31
they just claim that we're dealing with pirates
50:34
or we're doing this or stopping criminals
50:37
or so and so is a refugee from the
50:40
Fire Nation mainland and all this other stuff. And
50:42
so higher ups in the
50:45
Earth Kingdom just don't take it seriously.
50:48
And they're prone to agree with these
50:51
Fire Nation claims to try to
50:54
avoid any kind of major confrontation when we
50:57
know the truth is they're trying
51:00
to take over. I mean, they're doing things to try
51:03
to take over. And
51:06
like I said, that's been our biggest challenge, is trying to relay that
51:09
and help people understand that this is a lot more
51:12
than just a few little attacks here and there.
51:15
This is something big.
51:20
I've heard tell that they're doing some
51:23
crazy stuff out in the secluded
51:25
air nomad, uh,
51:27
areas. Um, some pretty dark
51:30
stuff, but we just don't have any
51:33
connections out there. I mean, they're so secluded. North,
51:36
south, east, west. All the air
51:39
temples are just so distant.
51:42
Wow. So we can only hope and pray that whatever's
51:44
happening out there isn't
51:47
the rumors.
51:48
So are there Fire Nation people inside your old
51:51
base?
51:52
Um, there's probably a couple of guards posted out, but I
51:55
don't think there's anybody. Like I said, the Specialist doesn't get here
51:58
till tomorrow. I don't think it's going to be a huge issue to
52:01
get in there, get the stuff, get out, so long as we do it
52:03
fast. Like I said, as soon as the Specialist gets here, he's bringing
52:06
probably a small squadron himself. They're going to be
52:09
well armed, they're going to be well trained. It's going to be a
52:11
hassle.
52:12
You think he's bringing more weapons?
52:16
Big weapons? Yeah, probably. Uh,
52:18
not at the moment. He's probably coming from another Earth
52:21
Kingdom area. Um, like I said, they called him
52:24
in because this is kind of his specialty. We are.
52:28
So we got to move fast.
52:29
Yes.
52:30
Tonight.
52:31
Tonight? Yes. Huh? Here soon. Honestly,
52:34
probably next couple of hours, if.
52:35
You guys let's go.
52:36
Willing to be a part of it. Yeah, maybe. Like I said.
52:39
Sure. Um, they kind of point out,
52:42
uh, this diagram of this
52:45
facility that they used to have. Um, there's
52:48
a variety of different areas leading from front to back.
52:50
There's kind of this medical, um,
52:53
facility. There's a Guild space where they had, like,
52:56
the tanners and the Blacksmiths and so on and so
52:59
forth that were putting the weapons together for them. They had an armory, they had a
53:02
training area, they had stables. Uh, there was the living
53:05
quarters for the members because this was just
53:08
a base for the rescue team squadron
53:11
team. Right. This whole city that they've got going
53:14
on down here, I mean, it's so much bigger. And they've
53:17
got refugees and people that have survived
53:19
attacks that just don't have anywhere to go, things like that, living here. But this
53:22
was explicitly for just the rescue team
53:25
squadron. Uh, they had bathhouses
53:28
and of course they had like a big front courtyard. And
53:31
overlooking that was a large building
53:33
that kind of sort of encompassed the
53:36
outside of this courtyard. And
53:39
there's a small room in the top of that. That was the
53:42
command center. And that's where the plans are being stored.
53:45
He said, uh, unfortunately we made
53:48
it so that you really can't come in through the back. There's no
53:51
openings, there's no windows or whatnot in the back. So unless we
53:54
broke something down, which obviously that would alert the
53:56
guards, it's going to be kind of tricky to get in there
53:59
from that end, but, uh, we could definitely hit it from the
54:02
side, pop in from one of the windows,
54:06
like I said, run in there, grab the plans, bada bing, bada
54:09
boom. Be out of there, uh, by midnight. No big
54:11
deal. Uh, if you guys are down for that.
54:14
Sounds good to me. Sounds like a plan.
54:16
Let's get out of here.
54:18
Uh, as you guys are kind of nodding and he's like, well,
54:21
hey, if you guys are ready, we can head on
54:23
now if you guys are cool with that.
54:26
Sure.
54:26
Yeah, I'll go. Uh, you guys
54:28
go. I mean,
54:31
smaller team is probably better.
54:33
Yeah, let's just us go.
54:35
So like, uh, pulling a mission like this
54:38
off, that's got to be worth like two
54:40
badges.
54:42
Yeah. And the General goes,
54:46
m sure we'd be willing to, uh,
54:49
yes, absolutely. It's an important mission. We'd be willing
54:52
to give you respectable badges to
54:55
represent your achievement. If you can
54:58
bring back to plans, not get caught, so
55:01
on and so forth.
55:03
Of course. Yes.
55:05
All right. I didn't know badges meant so
55:08
much to you, but, uh, I'll have them ready.
55:11
He's collecting a wardrobe. A
55:14
wardrobe from, uh, all of our
55:16
adventures.
55:17
Trophies.
55:18
You saw the hat?
55:20
No.
55:23
Yeah, he lost the hat. He had
55:26
Dilbert as a hat, though.
55:27
That's true.
55:28
Where is Dilbert?
55:29
Probably just he's right here. He's tired from all
55:32
that.
55:33
Ah, that's true. Awesome.
55:36
Um, as you guys are kind of know, hands in
55:39
the middle, break kind of level energy. Turning
55:42
around. Ready to go. Mika. Uh, ah,
55:45
you hear a voice no.
55:48
As you turn around and it
55:51
simply says Mika. And
55:54
you turn around and none other than
55:57
your dad shut up. Is standing
55:59
there and he
56:02
sees you and
56:05
his legs literally just, like, tremble,
56:08
and he just falls. Like, he just buckles. They can't keep
56:11
him up anymore. Um, and he just holds out his
56:14
hands.
56:14
He's like, Mika, is that really.
56:20
Um.
56:23
Just I just fall to the ground where I'm at.
56:26
Oh, man, this is really awkward.
56:30
You're both just laying on your knees there
56:32
and reaching out to each other, and neither of you is able
56:35
to okay, fine.
56:38
I have to pinch myself, though, to make sure I'm not.
56:42
He picks himself up and he just runs
56:45
over to you and he gives you a big old hug.
56:47
He says, Mika,
56:50
uh, I never thought I'd see you again.
56:54
I thought you were dead.
56:57
I, uh, thought you were dead.
56:59
You're the one who disappeared in
57:02
a giant avalanche.
57:06
Woke up at the bottom of the mountain covered in
57:08
snow. And I spent days just digging through the
57:11
powder in hopes that you were okay.
57:14
But I never found you. So I
57:17
figured you must have come down on a different slope.
57:20
And I went searching, thinking you must have gotten
57:23
lost in the woods. I spent a week
57:26
wandering through the woods, hoping maybe I'd
57:29
find you or even some tracks
57:31
that you left behind. I ran into three
57:34
hunters that claimed they saw a witch that was disguised
57:37
as the little girl.
57:39
I came across some weirdos, but they are mean.
57:44
They said this witch caused them
57:47
a lot of trouble, and I was glad to
57:50
know you were still safe.
57:51
Thanks.
57:53
But I don't understand. Where did you go?
57:57
How did you get here?
57:59
Um, I found some old man, and he
58:02
took care of me for a while.
58:03
Well, that's certainly
58:06
a strange direction to go,
58:10
but as long as he took good care of you
58:13
yeah, I worked.
58:14
At his tea shop for a while.
58:16
You worked at a tea shop?
58:17
But now he's dead.
58:20
Oh, I'm sorry to hear
58:22
that. I wish I could have had
58:25
the chance to thank him for taking care of
58:28
you.
58:28
There's cat nod on my head
58:31
and, uh, you guys spend some time kind of sharing
58:34
your stories up until this point back and forth. He tells you
58:37
about how after he couldn't find you, he managed
58:40
to sort of make his he just kind of wandered into
58:43
Udao, and
58:45
the people know he saw the Fire Nation
58:48
influence and such like that. He heard some of the stories about what was
58:51
happening and how they were attacking,
58:54
even to the Water Tribe. Um, and he knew that wasn't
58:57
safe, and he wanted to be a part of trying to stop
59:00
them, but he also wanted to be a part of finding you. And they talked
59:03
about how, uh, he managed to find members of the
59:05
Rescue Team squadron. And they talked about how they had
59:08
some, um, organizations that would go out to some of
59:11
these cities and towns that were being attacked or were
59:14
under some level of fire nation control.
59:17
And he volunteered to be a part of that in hopes that maybe one of these
59:20
towns that he would get sent to, he'd find you
59:23
there. And
59:25
he chuckles about how ironic it is that
59:28
he's been on this away team so much, and yet
59:31
he finds you right here in the rescue team
59:34
squadron base, and he thinks
59:38
whatever gods or spirits or whatever are, out
59:41
there that he was here now because he was
59:44
gearing up to leave in the next couple of days for another
59:46
mission out to another town. And he's like,
59:49
man, if I had missed you and
59:52
you went on your way and that whole thing had been missed
59:55
and he found out about it somehow, he would just
59:58
be a little bit torn apart, but also, to some extent,
1:00:01
happy to know that you
1:00:04
but, um, nevertheless, you guys share this touching
1:00:06
moment. And eventually, uh, Mayu
1:00:09
Yinyu walks over and he says, well, I don't mean to break
1:00:12
up this beautiful reunion,
1:00:15
uh, between father and daughter, but then don't.
1:00:21
And, uh, your dad says, oh, no.
1:00:23
Mika, it's all right. Mayu has been a close friend
1:00:26
and was a big part of getting me involved in the Rescue Team
1:00:29
squadron. Mayu, what can I do for
1:00:32
you?
1:00:32
He says, well, uh, we were actually getting ready to head out.
1:00:35
I wasn't sure if Mika was going to come with us. I mean, you'll still be
1:00:38
here when we get back, so, um, not to, like
1:00:41
I said, pull her away while you guys are having such an important
1:00:44
reunion, but, uh, we can get that done and
1:00:47
then come back here and then
1:00:49
go from there, if that works for you guys. It'd be great
1:00:52
to have, from what your father's told me, a
1:00:55
pretty talented waterbender on our
1:00:58
team.
1:01:02
He can just come with.
1:01:04
Well, I
1:01:07
could come with you all if you'd
1:01:10
like.
1:01:11
Okay. Let's go.
1:01:12
All right. Sure.
1:01:14
All right. So you've recruited your dad.
1:01:18
He's going to come along. It's going to be interesting.
1:01:21
Awesome. Sounds good. So, uh, there's
1:01:23
actually a sort of Earth elevator that you guys
1:01:26
take to get back up to the surface. And Mayu
1:01:29
says, uh, yeah, this is, uh, usually how we get back up.
1:01:32
We like to come down the chute, uh, because
1:01:35
it's really secluded and hidden and stuff. But,
1:01:38
uh, we like to leave through this because it's more
1:01:40
direct and, uh, it's
1:01:43
a little bit more convenient. Um, but we usually don't use
1:01:46
the elevator both ways because we don't want to draw
1:01:49
suspicion. So
1:01:52
just to justify that, because I'm sure you guys are sitting
1:01:55
there wondering, like, well, why didn't we just come down this way?
1:01:57
I mean, the slide was fine. Slide was fine.
1:01:59
Can't blame it was great for morale.
1:02:02
Exactly. And we haven't had any incidences with it, which is
1:02:05
a good sign. Yeah.
1:02:06
The elevator is okay, I guess.
1:02:11
Are you hoping for, like, an up roller
1:02:14
coaster.
1:02:16
Of course, Bill.
1:02:18
All this is being said as you.
1:02:20
Guys slowly make your feel like rocks. Like you're like Cipher
1:02:23
rock elevators. Like.
1:02:30
It doesn't matter as long as it's a rock rock
1:02:33
man. Awesome maker. Who's.
1:02:35
This guy kind of freaked
1:02:38
out when you saw him.
1:02:39
No offense, old man, but, uh oh, no problem
1:02:42
whatsoever. I'm very glad to meet all of you. I'mika's
1:02:45
dad.
1:02:46
What?
1:02:48
It's my dad.
1:02:51
I'm going to whisper to Mika.
1:02:53
I thought you said your dad's dead.
1:02:55
No, I never said that.
1:02:56
Okay, you didn't have a dad.
1:03:04
That, uh, random goth chick that was on
1:03:07
the Wild Coyote board, you, uh, told
1:03:10
her you didn't have a dad. You guys were bonding over
1:03:12
it, sort of. Because she had a dad.
1:03:15
How can you be so sure? It's not like
1:03:18
three fox dogs in a waterbender cloak,
1:03:21
is it?
1:03:25
Oh, uh, this is a bit
1:03:28
awkward.
1:03:29
That's a hairy cat.
1:03:30
Okay.
1:03:33
Calf.
1:03:35
That's a hairy cat. Is it my
1:03:38
dad?
1:03:39
Is it my dad or is it just three fox
1:03:42
dogs?
1:03:43
It's just three cats.
1:03:46
Oh, don't worry, Mika. Your dad
1:03:49
says, Three fox dogs.
1:03:55
You seem so sure he was dead.
1:03:58
He seems so sure I was dead.
1:04:00
Well, I never gave up hope,
1:04:03
he.
1:04:04
Says as he puts his hand on your shoulder. Wow.
1:04:06
Now, how long ago was this?
1:04:08
Probably like a year. Yeah, probably like a year, maybe not
1:04:10
even. Mika was one of the last
1:04:13
orphans to kind of be taken in by Mr. Oakland.
1:04:16
I ain't no orphan. Now, that's true.
1:04:20
Uh,
1:04:28
see, that was one of the biggest struggles I had when I had
1:04:31
to write the description, is I'm like four
1:04:34
orphan, moody teenagers. And I was like, well, they're
1:04:37
not really orphans, but there's not really a word for
1:04:39
it.
1:04:40
Parentless.
1:04:41
Parentless.
1:04:43
I suppose mine could be out there, too.
1:04:46
That's true.
1:04:47
I never knew my parents.
1:04:48
I mean, I guess orphaned kind of.
1:04:50
Just they're kind of just a dust
1:04:52
streaked memory in my mind
1:04:56
way back.
1:04:57
There, getting real deep.
1:04:59
Uh, Mika's dad kind of, like, looks over
1:05:02
at Glow and he says, well.
1:05:03
Hey there, little buddy. Maybe someday you'll
1:05:06
find your parents. Maybe
1:05:09
they're out there looking for you right now.
1:05:11
I don't know if I'd want to.
1:05:15
You could come live with us. My
1:05:18
dad will drop you.
1:05:23
I have to go to the bathroom.
1:05:26
We're in an elevator
1:05:29
at this point, and my union has been, like, just kind of leading you
1:05:32
guys towards where the old base is, but yeah.
1:05:35
I got to go to the bathroom. Oh, uh, do you need
1:05:38
to use, uh, the?
1:05:42
Yes. Yes, I do.
1:05:44
All right, everybody, I know it's only been five
1:05:47
minutes in walking, but, uh, let's take a short break so that
1:05:50
Guo can go to the bathroom because, hey, nobody wants
1:05:53
to do a mission while you had a full bladder.
1:05:56
It is a bladder thing. Yeah. Oh, okay,
1:05:59
good. All right. Should be a short break, everybody
1:06:02
polishes nose. Uh,
1:06:05
Guo goes to the bathroom real quick and then comes back, and
1:06:08
Mayu continues to lead you guys on
1:06:11
as you guys approach the area where
1:06:14
this rebel base, this old rebel base,
1:06:16
rather, is located at. Um,
1:06:19
Mayu Yinyu stops and he says,
1:06:22
quiet, I hear something. And
1:06:25
he looks over at Mika's dad and he gives him a
1:06:28
nod. And using some of the very
1:06:30
capable, sort of Water Nation trained stealth
1:06:33
tactics, mika's um dad kind of just disappears into some
1:06:36
bushes very quietly, and a couple moments
1:06:39
later, he comes back and you can hear voices kind
1:06:42
of up ahead. Someone, uh, seems to be,
1:06:45
um, shouting orders at people. And he comes back and he
1:06:48
says, I'm not sure what happened, but it seems
1:06:51
we're too late. The specialist, Wang
1:06:54
Long is already here. And with
1:06:57
that, we'll end episode eleven.
