- 0:00Chapter 17 from the book of Isaiah.
- 0:03Dear God, please help us as we read through this chapter and
- 0:07give us wisdom and insight to understand what you've inspired
- 0:12Isaiah to document for us. We ask for this in Jesus name,
- 0:17Amen. So I will read through this
- 0:19chapter first and then go through the questions and
- 0:22answers because I have a little bit of different information,
- 0:26not different, but additional information, insight that just
- 0:31came to mind when I was reading this.
- 0:33So I will share that at the very, very end.
- 0:36So let's start a prophecy against Damascus.
- 0:40See, Damascus will no longer be a city.
- 0:43So right when I read that, I think this is future because
- 0:47Damascus exists today. So it says, see, Damascus will
- 0:52no longer be a city, but will become a heap of ruins.
- 0:56The cities of Aror will be deserted.
- 1:01That's in Jordan and left two flocks which will lie down with
- 1:06no one to make them afraid. The fortified city will
- 1:09disappear from Ephraim. Now Ephraim is the northern
- 1:16tribe of Judah, not of Judah, I'm sorry, of Israel.
- 1:20And it's the 10 tribes. It's Ephraim is often referred
- 1:25to that. But Ephraim was one of the
- 1:27tribes that did team with modern day Syria at the time and they
- 1:33went against Judah. So it says.
- 1:37The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim and royal
- 1:40power from Damascus. The remnant of Aram or Syria
- 1:46will be like the glory of the Israelites in that day.
- 1:51The glory of Jacob will fade. The fat of his body will waste
- 1:57away. It will be as when reapers
- 2:00harvest the standing grain, gathering the grain in their
- 2:04arms, as when someone gleans the heads of grain in the valley of
- 2:08Raphaim. Yet some gleanings will remain,
- 2:12as when an olive tree is beaten, leaving two or three olives on
- 2:17the top most branches, four or five on the fruitful bows,
- 2:22declares the Lord the God of Israel.
- 2:25In that day people will look to their Maker and turn their eyes
- 2:31to the Holy One of Israel. They will not look to altars,
- 2:35the work of their hands, and they will have no regard for the
- 2:41Ashara poles and the incense alters their fingers have made
- 2:47in that day. Their strong cities, which they
- 2:49left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to
- 2:54thickets and undergrowth, and all will be desolation.
- 2:58You have forgotten God, your Savior.
- 3:01Savior, you have not remembered the rock, your fortress.
- 3:05Therefore, though you set out the finest plants and plant
- 3:10imported vines, though on the day you set them out you will
- 3:16make them grow, and on the and on the morning when you plant
- 3:20them you will bring them to bud, yet the harvest will be as
- 3:24nothing in the day of disease and incurable pain.
- 3:30Woe to the many nations that rage.
- 3:34They rage like the raging sea. Woe to the peoples who roar.
- 3:40They roar like the roaring of great waters, although the
- 3:43peoples roar like the roar of surging waters.
- 3:48When he rebukes them, they flee far away, driven before the
- 3:54wind, like chaffs on the hills, like tumbleweed before a Gale in
- 3:59the evening, sudden terror before the morning.
- 4:03They are gone. This is the portion of those who
- 4:07loot us, the lot of those who plunder us.
- 4:10And that's the end of chapter 17.
- 4:13I will read what the study Bible says 4/17.
- 4:18What kind of prophecy is this? The Hebrew word for prophecy
- 4:21here is related to a verb meaning to lift up, carry, and
- 4:25is possibly to be understood as either lifting up one's voice or
- 4:29carrying a burden. Such a prophecy often brings
- 4:32unwelcome news or judgment. How was Damascus reduced to
- 4:37runes in 732 BC? Assyrian The Assyrian king
- 4:43Tiglath Pillazer, the third, responding to pleas from Judas
- 4:48king Ahaz for military support, raised Damascus, and that's
- 4:55found in Chapter 7 verse 16 and 2nd Kings chapter 16 verses 7
- 5:00through 9. Where were the cities of Aror?
- 5:05Aror was a city east of the Dead Sea on the Arnan River.
- 5:12Though located in Moab, it marked the farthest southern
- 5:16extent of Aram, or Syria's control.
- 5:20Why was Ephraim included in this prophecy concerning Damascus?
- 5:24Ephraim was another name for the northern Kingdom of Israel.
- 5:28The nation of Aram or Syria was represented by its capital,
- 5:32Damascus. Ephraim, or Israel, had joined
- 5:36in military alliance with Aram. As a result, this prophecy was
- 5:40given against both kingdoms. In fact, beginning in verse 4,
- 5:44the focus of this section shifts to Ephraim.
- 5:49How would the remnant of Arum be like the glory of the
- 5:52Israelites? Isaiah was being sarcastic.
- 5:55He went on to describe what he really meant, which was exactly
- 5:59the opposite. Glory described any power or
- 6:03splendor that gave social weight, respect and esteem.
- 6:06The remnant of Aram are Syria, those surviving Assyria's
- 6:10destruction of Damascus, and their nation would have no glory
- 6:13whatsoever. So that's the study Bibles.
- 6:17I kind of took it a different way and I'll explain that later.
- 6:22So why were the Ashira poles or what were the Ashira poles?
- 6:27These were large wooden idols that bore the image of Ashira, A
- 6:32Pagan fertility goddess believed by the Canaanites and sadly,
- 6:36many Israelites, to be the wife of El Chief God of the Canaanite
- 6:41pantheon. Fortunately, verses 7 through 8
- 6:45indicate that judgment on Ephraim would bring a spirit of
- 6:48repentance to at least some of the survivors whose strong
- 6:56cities was Isaiah referring to. After offering of ray of hope in
- 7:00verses 7 through 8, Isaiah returned to the theme of
- 7:04judgement. When the Israelites came into
- 7:06the land of Canaan many years before, the strong cities of the
- 7:10land were abandoned as as they were, as they, for example, the
- 7:18Canaanites left. The Lord was at work for His
- 7:21people, giving them the land of promise.
- 7:24However, the situation had changed and the same cities
- 7:27would be abandoned by the Israelites themselves as they
- 7:31were under the judging hand of God.
- 7:36And that those are all the explanations.
- 7:39So I saw some different things in here.
- 7:43And again, this is just a theory, this is my own theory,
- 7:46just things that came to mind when I was reading this and
- 7:49studying this. So they may or may not be
- 7:52accurate, but I will share those.
- 7:57So in this chapter, when it, you know, it says it's a prophecy
- 8:01against Damascus. So when I read it, that's what
- 8:05I, I read it as, that's what it is.
- 8:08It's against Damascus and it's not relating necessarily to
- 8:14Israel. It's spoken against Damascus.
- 8:17So that's how I am interpreting this.
- 8:20So it says Damascus will no longer be a city.
- 8:22Well, it's a city today. So to me, this means in the
- 8:25future it will no longer be a city but will become a heap of
- 8:30ruins. And perhaps this is a
- 8:34foreshadowing or a double fulfillment.
- 8:39It's, you know, if it just is meaning that it's just going to
- 8:41be destroyed, then that's one thing.
- 8:45But Damascus will no longer be a city, seems to be a little bit
- 8:51more than that. And right now there is some
- 8:55warring continuing on and and again I I see some future end
- 9:00times hints here which I could be mistaken by this, but this is
- 9:05what I see here. So it says then it refers to the
- 9:10cities of Aurora which are in Jordan will be deserted and left
- 9:15to the flocks which will lie down with no one to make them
- 9:19afraid. Flocks are often talked about
- 9:23with the sheep are God's people and they will lie down and no
- 9:27one will make them afraid. There's psalms that talk about
- 9:30that. So I see this as after the day
- 9:33of destruction, there's going to be this peace when Jesus reigns.
- 9:37So I'm looking at this as the Millennium after the the second
- 9:41coming of Jesus. And so that's when the flocks
- 9:45will lie down with no one to make them afraid because
- 9:48everything will be destroyed. So the fortified city will
- 9:52disappear from Ephraim and royal power from Damascus.
- 9:58Royal power I think about is in a spiritual sense because there
- 10:06is something other than the one true God that has power over
- 10:11Damascus at this point and that will be taken away.
- 10:17And so it says the remnant of Syria or Aram will be like the
- 10:24glory of the Israelites. Well, I read that as you know,
- 10:27the, the study Bible says it's, it's a it's sarcasm, but I read
- 10:32it as, you know, God has mercy to to many people and to he, you
- 10:43know that he will. There's going to be a remnant of
- 10:46several different nations. The temple will be a house to
- 10:50all nations. There are going to be survivors
- 10:53from many different nations, but not a lot.
- 10:56And that's what I read this as saying, that there will be some
- 11:00survivors from Syria and they're going to be like the glory of
- 11:04the Israelites. So there there will be a remnant
- 11:07from Syria that God saves. I don't see this as complete
- 11:12destruction. So in that day, the glory of
- 11:16Jacob will fade. So that's not going to be, as
- 11:19you know, it says the fat of his body will waste away.
- 11:23So like would would you consider fat as something unwanted, like
- 11:28the the stuff that doesn't make it good, like that's going to go
- 11:30away. The glory of Jacob will fade,
- 11:34the fat of his body will waste away, so the unwanted things
- 11:38will disappear. Now here's a really interesting
- 11:41comparison, a poetic comparison. It will be as when reapers
- 11:47harvest the standing grain, gathering the grain in their
- 11:51arms. OK, so this makes me think about
- 11:55the gathering, or what some people call the Rapture.
- 11:59And it says as when someone gleans the heads of grain in the
- 12:04valley of Raphaem. Well, the valley of Raphaim is
- 12:08is in Jerusalem. So the placement of this is kind
- 12:13of unusual in this prophecy against Damascus.
- 12:19But it was named after the race of giants, this valley.
- 12:24And it's often referred to as like the spirit of the dead.
- 12:28So it's like there are some that will not be among the spirit of
- 12:33the dead is the way I'm reading this.
- 12:36And it says, yet some gleanings will remain.
- 12:40So this is what I think. Again, this is a remnant as when
- 12:44an olive tree is beaten, leaving two or three olives on the top
- 12:49most branches, four or five on the fruitful bows or bows.
- 12:56So it's like there's just a few that are going to remain, but
- 12:59most of it will be destroyed. And that's the way I read this.
- 13:04So when it talks about reapers harvesting standing grain and
- 13:09gathering the grain in their arms, it reminds me of other
- 13:13scripture where this is talked about South.
- 13:16Jesus told a parable and he said that it's called the parable of
- 13:23the weeds or in the New International Version, or it's
- 13:27called the parable of the wheat and tares.
- 13:30So Jesus told them another parable.
- 13:32The Kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his
- 13:37field. But while everyone was sleeping,
- 13:42the enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.
- 13:47When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, the weeds also
- 13:51appeared. The owner's servant came to him
- 13:55and said, Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field?
- 13:58Where did these weeds come from? An enemy did this, he replied.
- 14:02The servants asked him, Do you want us to go and pull them up?
- 14:06No, he answered, Because while you're pulling the weeds, you
- 14:11may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the
- 14:18harvest. At that time, I will tell the
- 14:21harvesters first collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to
- 14:27be burned, then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.
- 14:34So then he explains later on in Matthew chapter 13 verse 36 he
- 14:41explains this. Then he left the crowd and went
- 14:44into the house. His disciples came to him and
- 14:47said, explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.
- 14:52He answered, the one who sowed the good seed is the son of man,
- 14:57Jesus. The field is the world and the
- 15:01good seed stands for people of the Kingdom.
- 15:06The weeds are the people of the evil 1 and the enemy who sows
- 15:12them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the
- 15:17age, and the harvesters are angels.
- 15:22As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will
- 15:27be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his
- 15:32angels and they will weed out his Kingdom, everything that
- 15:36causes sin, and all who do evil, they will throw them into the
- 15:41blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of
- 15:44teeth. Teeth.
- 15:46Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of
- 15:50their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.
- 15:54So again, the the reapers, the angels, remember the, the, the
- 16:01there are the gatherers, they go out to harvest the standing
- 16:05grain. So then in Matthew 3, it talks
- 16:13about this is what John talks about when he sees Jesus before
- 16:18he's going to baptize him and he says his winnowing fork is in
- 16:22his hand and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his
- 16:28wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable
- 16:34fire. So again, that's the another
- 16:37thing of symbolism. The wheat is the good the the
- 16:40God's people and the the chaff are the weeds are the extra
- 16:47stuff that is unwanted. The evil part is destroyed,
- 16:54burned in fire. And Luke says the same thing in
- 16:58chapter 3, verse 17. His winnowing fark fork is in
- 17:02his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat
- 17:07into his barn. But he will burn up the chaff.
- 17:12So those are a lot of different verses that to me talk about
- 17:18this about, you know, the, the angels going out.
- 17:25So I guess in Matthew 24, there's also some discussion
- 17:29about this. So I'm going to go to Matthew 24
- 17:31and find that section. I meant to do this before, but I
- 17:37forgot to look for this verse. But so it says that let's see.
- 17:53But about that day or hour, no one, not even the angels in
- 17:56heaven, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the
- 17:59Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah,
- 18:02so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
- 18:06For in the days before the flood people were eating and drinking,
- 18:09marrying and giving in marriage up to the day Noah entered the
- 18:13ark, and they knew nothing about what would happen until the
- 18:17flood came and took them all away.
- 18:19That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
- 18:24Two men will be in a field, one will be taken and the other
- 18:29left. Two women will be grinding with
- 18:32a hand mill, one will be taken and the other left.
- 18:35Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your
- 18:38Lord will come. But understand this, if the
- 18:41owner of the house had known what time of night the thief was
- 18:43coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house
- 18:47be broken into. So you must be ready, because
- 18:51the Son of Man will come in an hour when you do not expect him.
- 18:56Who then is the faithful and wives wise servant, whom the
- 19:00master has put in charge of the servants in his household to
- 19:03give them their food at the proper time?
- 19:05It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so
- 19:08when he returns. Truly, I tell you, he will put
- 19:10him in charge of all his possessions.
- 19:12But suppose that servant is wicked, and says to himself, My
- 19:15master is staying away a long time, and then he begins to beat
- 19:19his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards.
- 19:22The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not
- 19:27expect him, and in an hour when he is not aware of, he will cut
- 19:31him to pieces and assign him in a place with the hypocrites
- 19:35there, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
- 19:43So there's also other verses about what happens on when in in
- 19:52that time at the coming of the Son of man, the return of Jesus.
- 19:57So this is in Matthew 24, verse 31.
- 20:01And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they
- 20:06will gather his elect from the four winds from one end of the
- 20:11heavens to the other. And it says.
- 20:21For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud
- 20:24command, with the voice of the Archangel, and with a trumpet
- 20:27call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
- 20:34So there is. Let's see, I'm not finding where
- 20:40I wanted to. Angels gather.
- 20:50Yeah, so it was in Matthew 24, verse 31.
- 20:53And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they
- 20:56will gather his elect from the four winds, one from the from
- 21:00one end of the heavens to the other.
- 21:03And he will send his Angel angels and gather his elect from
- 21:06the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the
- 21:10heavens. And that's in Mark chapter 13
- 21:13and Matthew chapter 24. So these are, you know, it says
- 21:19coming on the clouds. That's another verse that coming
- 21:23in the clouds is another one that talks about these, this
- 21:28event that is to happen. So back in the book of Daniel,
- 21:37Chapter 7, in my vision at night, I looked and there before
- 21:41me was one like the Son of Man coming with the clouds of
- 21:44heaven. He approached the Ancient of
- 21:46Days and was led into his presence.
- 21:48So that's Jesus and then again Matthew 24 verse 30, then will
- 21:55appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then all the
- 21:58peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man
- 22:02coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
- 22:06And then mark chapter 13. At that time, people will see
- 22:09the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
- 22:14So there's there's several things that make me think about
- 22:19the end of time here. Just that the harvesting,
- 22:23because there are, you know, the wheat and tears, but then
- 22:26there's another harvest of grapes, which is about the time
- 22:29of wrath. And that's in the Book of
- 22:31Revelation. And then it also compares this,
- 22:35you know, this remnant it it's talking about when an olive tree
- 22:40is beaten, is beaten. Now an olive tree symbolizes
- 22:45God's people. And if you think about it,
- 22:49olives are what when they're crushed, they make olive oil.
- 22:55Oil is used to anoint people. So there are some of you know
- 23:02God's people are those who turn to him that remain anointed
- 23:08ones. In that day the people will look
- 23:11to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
- 23:15So sometimes God uses disasters to turn people towards him.
- 23:21When people don't get the the quieter hints along the way or
- 23:25the the gentle whisper from God when they're not paying
- 23:31attention to God, he will send calamities or allow calamities
- 23:36to happen. And that causes some people to
- 23:40turn to God. It's when they hit rock bottom
- 23:42that they finally turned to God. So God will use whatever he
- 23:47needs to use to get the attention of people.
- 23:51And it says in that day they will look to their maker and
- 23:53turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
- 23:56So that could be that they have disaster.
- 24:01So then they turn to God. It could also be that they see
- 24:05Jesus coming on the clouds. They turn their eyes to the holy
- 24:08one of Israel, and then they realize they're not going to be
- 24:11looking at their altars, the work of their hands.
- 24:14They're not going to be going to their false gods.
- 24:17So it, you know, it talks about the wife of El was who they
- 24:23worshipped. And then we talked about in the
- 24:25prior chapter like Kimosh and all these different gods, which
- 24:30I believe are evil spirits that present themselves as God.
- 24:36You know, whether this is Satan or it's another evil spirit that
- 24:41was a fallen Angel basically from heaven.
- 24:44The ones who rebelled against God, that's who I believe, like
- 24:47all these religions who don't believe in Jesus or who deny
- 24:53Jesus as the Son of God, they, they deny salvation basically.
- 25:00And when someone denies Jesus, they are eliminating their
- 25:06potential for salvation because Jesus is the one who made
- 25:11salvation possible. Jesus made it possible for us to
- 25:15be in God's Kingdom. So of course the enemy is going
- 25:18to create all these different religions to get people to not
- 25:23focus on Jesus. Let's create all these
- 25:25distractions, you know, like all the things that are were, I
- 25:30guess, originally intended to recognize Jesus, even like
- 25:35Christmas, you know, the enemy takes and distorts that.
- 25:40Now it becomes all about gifts and Jesus's birth doesn't even
- 25:46seem like it's forefront in in that event.
- 25:50It's kind of like hidden away. Sure, people go to church on
- 25:54that day. They may go and do that.
- 25:58But then the other fact is that in a lot of a lot of scholars
- 26:04say that Jesus wasn't even born in December.
- 26:07I think there's some, I guess there's a couple different
- 26:10opinions. One of them is that he was
- 26:12possibly born in September and another ones that he was
- 26:15possibly born in April are somewhere, you know, the in the
- 26:19springtime. And so but nobody says that
- 26:22Jesus was born in December, yet we had we celebrate his birthday
- 26:27in December. So, you know, it just shows how
- 26:31the world has just trying to take away everything that
- 26:34recognizes Jesus. Then the most significant event
- 26:38that Jesus did was when he defeated death and he rose from
- 26:44the dead and was seen by hundreds groups of like 500 or
- 26:49or more people at one time and showed up to various different
- 26:52people, think for 40 or 50 days and and you know, interacted
- 26:59with people and ate and drank with them.
- 27:00Like there are so many eyewitnesses to the fact that
- 27:04Jesus did resurrect from the dead.
- 27:09And so this gets downplayed too. Now the resurrection of Jesus is
- 27:15celebrated on a holiday that we call Easter and somehow all of a
- 27:21sudden Easter eggs start becoming and the Easter Bunny
- 27:25and these other things start taking away our focus on Jesus
- 27:29and start making it into something that it was never
- 27:32intended to be. But those are the ways that the
- 27:35Evil 1 gets into our lives and tries to distract us from the
- 27:44real message, the message of salvation, the recognition of
- 27:48who Jesus is as the Son of God. He came here to for the sinners.
- 27:55He came here to tell people about the Kingdom of God and to
- 28:01tell people what they needed to do, because we do have to do
- 28:06something. We have to repent.
- 28:07We have to reject sin and then have God send His Holy Spirit to
- 28:15begin to change our life, to give us the power over sin by
- 28:19the Holy Spirit. Jesus took care of the thing
- 28:23that none of us could do to make it into into God's Kingdom by
- 28:27dying on the cross. He was the one sacrifice that
- 28:31was required. He was the substitute life, the
- 28:35perfect life who was given up for us because there is a law
- 28:39that a life can be given up for another life.
- 28:43And so that's what Jesus did for us.
- 28:45He died for us. He gave up his life for us so
- 28:48that we could be his brothers and sisters in God's Kingdom.
- 28:52And so he came to earth to make that known to everyone.
- 28:57So of course he's the one that everybody's going to try and
- 29:02cover up and not let anybody hear about it, mock him, you
- 29:07know, make him into something lesser just so that we are
- 29:13destroyed because the enemy hates us.
- 29:15The enemy hates humans because humans are going to get what the
- 29:20enemy cannot have any more. Because the enemy of God was
- 29:25interested in being worshipped himself.
- 29:29That's why I believe he and the people that he can, the not
- 29:32people, the spiritual beings he convinced to rebel against God,
- 29:36they will all wanted to be worshipped.
- 29:37So they became all these different gods of different
- 29:40religions that deny Jesus. And so people who worship other
- 29:48in other religions and they don't recognize Jesus as the Son
- 29:52of God and the one who made it possible for us to be in the
- 29:54Kingdom of God. They are being deceived by evil
- 29:59spiritual forces who want people to be destroyed and for the only
- 30:06reason is just hatred of people because it's just like a
- 30:09jealousy that God is letting us into the Kingdom.
- 30:14And the enemy lost his privilege to be in the Kingdom of God
- 30:19because he was selfish. And so that's, that's the thing
- 30:24that's happening in this world. And that's, I don't know how
- 30:28much clearer I can make it, but the Bible really brings us out.
- 30:32The more that you study it, you realize what it is.
- 30:35I mean, we definitely are in a battle, an unseen battle, a
- 30:39spiritual battle for God's Kingdom.
- 30:45And, and the enemy seeks to kill and destroy and deceive and
- 30:52manipulate and he's really good at it.
- 30:55So lots of people, probably their their pride will not want
- 31:01them to admit this because they don't want to look like they
- 31:05were deceived. They were manipulated.
- 31:07They were not, you know, they just didn't understand it.
- 31:11But The thing is, the enemy is so good that it'll happen.
- 31:14It says even to the elect it can happen.
- 31:17So we have to, you know, don't. I mean, we've all been deceived
- 31:22to some degree by thinking some things are unimportant,
- 31:26unimportant in this world and thinking it doesn't matter when
- 31:31it really does. And how we are in our
- 31:34relationship with God is so important.
- 31:37And it's just the influence of of the world can make you get so
- 31:42busy that you don't think about it, that you don't focus on God.
- 31:46And that is all from the enemy. Invisible, evil spiritual forces
- 31:52can influence us today. They influence people in the
- 31:55Bible. They still influence us today.
- 31:58The more you get into the Word of God and your eyes are opened
- 32:02to the spiritual aspect of it, you will begin to have
- 32:07discernment and to be to recognize what spirit is
- 32:11influencing a person. Because just like the evil
- 32:14spirits can influence a person, God's Holy Spirit can influence
- 32:19a person. And that's when you see someone
- 32:22who what as I call it, Jesus said in John chapter 3 being
- 32:27born again, that's when a person becomes like a new person.
- 32:33They change, they're a different person.
- 32:35They have, they have, they reflect God, they start to
- 32:39change. There's a, there's a drastic
- 32:40change between a sinful worldly person and one who the Holy
- 32:46Spirit is changing. And the only way that a person
- 32:49can change is by getting rid of their pride, humbling
- 32:54themselves, and allowing God to do work within us.
- 32:58Because it says that our flesh is weak and but the Spirit is
- 33:02strong. So the spirit can do the things
- 33:04that we can't do on our own. But it requires us to not think
- 33:10that I can do it on my own. I don't need any help.
- 33:13Don't think like that. Recognize limitations.
- 33:16Recognize that we are only humans.
- 33:18We aren't spiritual from the heavenly realms and that we need
- 33:23the help of God's Holy Spirit which He gives to us.
- 33:27Jesus will give us the Holy Spirit when we're sincere about
- 33:30wanting to rid sin out of our life, but knowing that we're
- 33:34probably not strong to do it on our own.
- 33:36We aren't, I mean not probably we are not strong enough to do
- 33:39it. So when we ask God, He will give
- 33:41us the Holy Spirit to help us do that.
- 33:44So it's relying on God for all things, pursuing God, seeking
- 33:48God, and staying in the Word. And the more we stay in the
- 33:51Word, the more these things become clear and the more our
- 33:56life can change and the more peace in our life as we stay in
- 34:00the word. So I invite you, if you're not
- 34:02already following this podcast, to follow it.
- 34:05I try to do a chapter every single day and talk about how it
- 34:10affects our life. And especially like when we're
- 34:13in the book of Isaiah, it's talking about a lot of future
- 34:16things that will be happening. So this will give us things that
- 34:20we can look for. Like right now, Damascus still
- 34:23exist, but it says that the city will be destroyed.
- 34:27Will we see this? Will this just happen when Jesus
- 34:29returns? Maybe it's going to be at the
- 34:31very end that it'll be destroyed.
- 34:33We don't know. There's a lot of things, there's
- 34:34a lot of speculation, a lot of theories, and we can only learn
- 34:40more by having things revealed to us by the Holy Spirit and
- 34:44staying in God's Word. Because Scripture often
- 34:48interprets Scripture and gives us insight where we didn't have
- 34:51it before. And people who studied the Bible
- 34:54for over 40 years say they still learn from the Bible.
- 34:58So there, it's like a hidden treasure that the more you get
- 35:02into it, the more things that you find.
- 35:04So I invite you to join this podcast, sign up for it, and
- 35:09listen when you can. I know these podcasts can be
- 35:11long at times, but hopefully these things will bless you and
- 35:17bring goodness into your life and help you help others to
- 35:23enter into the Kingdom of God, to give them the knowledge of
- 35:27what's in the Scripture. And hopefully everybody just
- 35:29opens up their own Bible and begins to read and seek God
- 35:34because it's a relationship with God.
- 35:36We don't do it through another person.
- 35:38It's something that we need to have that relationship with God.
- 35:42So hopefully you will do that and join me next time.
