- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Reality te The Cringe Podcast. I'm

- 0:15Speaker 1: real tight homegirl, and my daughter in law, the Contissimo.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Me.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We are here to recap Welcome to the Platform. This
- 0:27Speaker 1: is my favorite show, honey. Yes, I look forward to it.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm just so excited in my life generally when there's
- 0:34Speaker 1: a show on that I'm vibing with. The other show
- 0:37Speaker 1: that i'm vibing with currently that I don't think you
- 0:40Speaker 1: watch is Southern Hospitality. I need to watch some Bravo girl,
- 0:45Speaker 1: you've told me to watch it.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Good.
- 0:47Speaker 1: You never watched the original season of vander Pump Rolls,
- 0:50Speaker 1: did you? So this is kind of like that, but
- 0:53Speaker 1: it's set in South Carolina, so kind of a different
- 0:58Speaker 1: There's like a there's there's a different type of person
- 1:01Speaker 1: in the Carolinas, especially male people, a little bit more misogyny.
- 1:06Speaker 1: There's just like a lot going on, but they're young,
- 1:08Speaker 1: they're out of control. I really am enjoying it, but
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm also enjoying Welcome to Platform.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Now, before we get into this threecap, we do have
- 1:17Speaker 1: to just give you a warning, honey, we're out of control. Yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 1: we are recording late in the day, so we're already tired.

- 2:45Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Okay, before we get into our recap of the most
- 2:50Speaker 1: recent episode of Welcome to Plaith, Phil Beatrice, I do
- 2:53Speaker 1: have to ask you whether you have any takeaways.
- 2:55Speaker 3: My takeaway is going to be kind of tamed this week,
- 2:57Speaker 3: and it's I think Mariah is absolutely beautiful.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yes, I just love seeing her.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I think she is doing so well in Montana, obviously,
- 3:07Speaker 3: and I love that she's doing some inner work. I
- 3:10Speaker 3: love her wigs, I love her makeup. I think she
- 3:13Speaker 3: looks great.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Me too, and I love that she is working on
- 3:18Speaker 1: her inner world, trying to come to love and accept herself,
- 3:21Speaker 1: so she's not so attached to the outer appearance, which is,
- 3:24Speaker 1: as you say, gorgeous. Yes, so my takeaway is regarding
- 3:28Speaker 1: Ethan Plath, but I know we're going to get into
- 3:30Speaker 1: it during the episodes, so I'm going to shelve that
- 3:32Speaker 1: and just say I'm a little disappointed. I am disappointed
- 3:38Speaker 1: in mister Isaac Plath because my spidy senses, my vibrational
- 3:45Speaker 1: feelers are kind of giving me cheater, kind of giving me.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Isaac has done something that he should not have done.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And because he's a Plath and therefore cannot communicate, because
- 3:58Speaker 1: he's broken fundamentally in side, he has not told Calin
- 4:02Speaker 1: straight away that he's done this, and so instead he's
- 4:05Speaker 1: pulling away, and ultimately we see what happens in this episode.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He's going to break up with her. And I think
- 4:10Speaker 1: mister Isaac has modeled his bad behavior on his unfaithful
- 4:15Speaker 1: adulter's drunk mom Kim, and now he's doing the same
- 4:19Speaker 1: tipooky Bearer, and I don't like it.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I don't like it either. I agree with you. I
- 4:24Speaker 3: am disappearing on him too. Yeah, okay, definitely.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So that's my takeaway and without any further a jew,
- 4:31Speaker 1: let's get in chew this episode of Welcome to Plath
- 4:34Speaker 1: Bill season eight, episode four, In Tattle, episode two, episode two,
- 4:38Speaker 1: Sorry in tattooed.
- 4:40Speaker 3: You catch more flies with honey dot dot dot. Okay,
- 4:44Speaker 3: So we start the episode kind of finishing up the
- 4:46Speaker 3: conversation that we had last week with Lydia, Zach and
- 4:51Speaker 3: the entire Plath family, and we have Lydia saying that
- 4:55Speaker 3: her and Zach were really hurt because they found out
- 4:59Speaker 3: a lot of the shit talking after the wedding, which
- 5:03Speaker 3: you have talked about on last week's episode, that they
- 5:07Speaker 3: didn't know a lot of what was happening at their wedding,
- 5:10Speaker 3: during their wedding, even the night before their wedding until
- 5:13Speaker 3: it seems like the show aired correct and everything came out.
- 5:18Speaker 3: And Lydia says in this week's episode, if I find
- 5:21Speaker 3: out there's any more shit talking, there's any more gossiping
- 5:25Speaker 3: from you bitches, I will not tolerate it. She didn't
- 5:28Speaker 3: say it like that, she should have. She did.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I think she literally said I won't tolerate it.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yeah, she didn't call them bitches, but she should have.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yes, But what does that mean, Lydia? Does that mean
- 5:37Speaker 1: you're going to go no contact?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Does that mean you're going to call them out on
- 5:40Speaker 1: social media? That's the thing.
- 5:43Speaker 3: That's the thing that like a therapist would say, you know,
- 5:46Speaker 3: if you're going to set a boundary like that, you
- 5:48Speaker 3: need to have consequences that you're going to actually follow
- 5:51Speaker 3: through on, right, And I think that Lydia is too
- 5:53Speaker 3: passive to be like I'm gonna go no contact. I'm
- 5:57Speaker 3: like what do you mean You're not going to tolerate it?
- 5:59Speaker 3: Are you gonna say fuck you, mom? Because you should,
- 6:03Speaker 3: and I really want you to. I would love that
- 6:05Speaker 3: so much. Right, And then we get into a conversation
- 6:09Speaker 3: about what Kim said last year about the wedding colors.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So we're clearing this up because Kim had said last
- 6:18Speaker 3: year that basically Zach chose the wedding colors without caring
- 6:25Speaker 3: about Lydia's wants or desires, because Zach is controlling, and
- 6:30Speaker 3: Lydia and Zach obviously take issue with this because Zach
- 6:33Speaker 3: is not controlling at all, And so Lydia wants to
- 6:36Speaker 3: clear the air and say, you know, actually I wanted blue.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I wanted the blue colors. I liked blue. Originally I
- 6:45Speaker 3: did have a dress that was Hunter green, but you know,
- 6:48Speaker 3: it had a connection to another guy that I didn't
- 6:51Speaker 3: want to cloud my wedding day or cloud my judgment
- 6:55Speaker 3: or whatever. So I didn't want to go with Hunter
- 6:58Speaker 3: green because some other guy picked that up for me,
- 7:00Speaker 3: and so I wanted to go with baby.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Blue or Okay, but last week I thought she said
- 7:07Speaker 1: to the camera for all of us that it was
- 7:11Speaker 1: never going to be Hunter Green. Yeah, that Hunter Green
- 7:14Speaker 1: was never a thing. And so this week when she says, oh,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I did have a Hunter Green in mind, I had
- 7:20Speaker 1: a dress, we cut to Kim giving an interstitial, saying, well,
- 7:24Speaker 1: at least she admitted that Hunter Green was in play,
- 7:27Speaker 1: because previously she did not admit that, And so I
- 7:30Speaker 1: was like, huh, okay, Lydia, So maybe you are doing
- 7:34Speaker 1: some covering for Zach, and maybe there's a reason that
- 7:37Speaker 1: Kim and maybe other members of your family are a
- 7:39Speaker 1: little concerned about Zach, especially if you're gonna lie about it.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Why are you lie in about it?
- 7:43Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Was she lieing last week?
- 7:45Speaker 3: I think she was a little bit. I think she
- 7:47Speaker 3: was trying to like cover for Zak in that he
- 7:50Speaker 3: chose the colors because he looked the best in a
- 7:53Speaker 3: blue suit, and she's framing it like, oh, no, I've
- 7:57Speaker 3: always wanted it, But that's a lie.
- 8:00Speaker 1: How about Yeah, he did choose and I love him
- 8:03Speaker 1: and I want him to be happy, and I look
- 8:05Speaker 1: bomb in blue, and so that's what we chose. Get
- 8:08Speaker 1: over it, y'all.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And if that was what actually happened, it would be
- 8:11Speaker 3: easy to say it that way. But I think that
- 8:14Speaker 3: Zach did have a little bit of a controlling thing
- 8:17Speaker 3: going on with the colors, and I think Kim was
- 8:20Speaker 3: probably right about that. Now, Kim shouldn't have said it
- 8:26Speaker 3: on TV. She shouldn't have said it in that way
- 8:28Speaker 3: on TV. She should have had a private conversation with Lydia,
- 8:31Speaker 3: because Kim this week does say, yeah, well, I chose
- 8:34Speaker 3: to share it on TV because I had heard it
- 8:37Speaker 3: from somebody who was there in the conversation with Lydia
- 8:40Speaker 3: talking about the wedding colors, and so I knew that
- 8:42Speaker 3: it was true, and so that's why I wanted to
- 8:44Speaker 3: share it on TV and not talk about it with Lydia.
- 8:47Speaker 1: So, Kim, you've got to be messy like that, you
- 8:50Speaker 1: don't And that kind of comes up in this family
- 8:53Speaker 1: meeting where they talk about how the family itself has
- 8:57Speaker 1: a propensity to just talk amongst themselves and what Lydia
- 9:01Speaker 1: calls straight up gossip, like instead of coming to the
- 9:04Speaker 1: person and in this case coming to Lydia, they're talking
- 9:07Speaker 1: to siblings, they're talking to parents, and it's just this
- 9:10Speaker 1: game of telephone, but it never gets to the person
- 9:13Speaker 1: who's actually involved. And Mariah in the moment co signs this,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and she's like, no, actually, I agree with Lydia. We
- 9:19Speaker 1: do that a lot and we shouldn't do that. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: then we have Kim and her interstitial saying again because
- 9:24Speaker 1: Kim was quiet during the meeting, she says nothing during
- 9:26Speaker 1: the meeting, but she's talking a lot to the camera
- 9:29Speaker 1: right after, and she's like, but we're a huge family,
- 9:33Speaker 1: and we have all of us have different relationships with
- 9:36Speaker 1: one another, and sometimes I see this kid and sometimes
- 9:39Speaker 1: I see that kid, and they see each other, and
- 9:41Speaker 1: we're gonna talk. So what we're not supposed to talk
- 9:43Speaker 1: to each other. And for me, yeah, I get that
- 9:48Speaker 1: that you're all going to have your own relationships and
- 9:50Speaker 1: you're all going to talk amongst yourself. But you know
- 9:53Speaker 1: what Lydia was saying, Yeah, you guys were gossiping about him.
- 9:56Speaker 1: You guys were being rude about him and calling into
- 9:59Speaker 1: question and his sexuality, which was very emasculating and embarrassing
- 10:03Speaker 1: for him. And you didn't need to do that. You
- 10:05Speaker 1: could have just come to us directly, which Ethan and
- 10:09Speaker 1: Mica did come to Zach. But they were also so
- 10:11Speaker 1: mean and talking amongst themselves too.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I get and like Kim's point about them being a
- 10:17Speaker 3: big family and they're all going to talk about each other. Yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 3: that's fine and dandy when you don't have a national
- 10:22Speaker 3: TV show, when you don't have cameras in your face
- 10:26Speaker 3: where they're going to see you talking about them and
- 10:31Speaker 3: talking about their relationship on national TV.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So what do you think her motive was.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I don't know, causin drama, it's a show.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And she tried.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 10:41Speaker 1: She seems so dull behind the eyes. Is she really
- 10:43Speaker 1: thinking that far out? But they say in this family
- 10:46Speaker 1: meeting that she comes up with a ton of ideas, yes,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and never executes any of them. And when you apply
- 10:52Speaker 1: that to the show, which made Kim and Olivia were
- 10:54Speaker 1: the ones that got the show off the road, right,
- 10:57Speaker 1: Maybe she's constantly thinking about how to create episodes and
- 11:02Speaker 1: the kind of content that they can put out there.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Maybe maybe, and maybe the rest of the family is
- 11:07Speaker 3: just so naive to think that, like, it's not going
- 11:11Speaker 3: to cause problems in the family if Kim is talking
- 11:13Speaker 3: about this stuff. But I don't know, it's just like
- 11:16Speaker 3: to me, if you're in a big family, yeah, okay,
- 11:19Speaker 3: you're gonna talk about each other, Okay, whatever, but you
- 11:23Speaker 3: shouldn't be doing that, and you shouldn't be airing out
- 11:25Speaker 3: all of your opinions and stuff about each other on
- 11:28Speaker 3: national TV if you haven't already talked to the person
- 11:31Speaker 3: about them. That's the issue. And I think that's the
- 11:34Speaker 3: issue that Lydia and Zach have, is like you could
- 11:36Speaker 3: have just talked to us about it first instead of
- 11:39Speaker 3: talking about it behind our backs when we were so
- 11:41Speaker 3: eager and so excited to have this wedding. So like
- 11:44Speaker 3: I understand Lydia and Zach's perspective on it. I do
- 11:48Speaker 3: think it's interesting though, that we still didn't talk about
- 11:50Speaker 3: the whole sexuality thing, Like maybe it was talked about
- 11:54Speaker 3: off camera, but just didn't seem mentioned at all in
- 11:57Speaker 3: this conversation.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Maybe Zach is really battered by that. Maybe maybe the
- 12:02Speaker 1: rest of the family is embarrassed that they did that.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I just feel like if it was such an inappropriate thing,
- 12:09Speaker 3: because it was to say, and if Zach wanted to
- 12:13Speaker 3: prove to the family like, look, no, I'm totally into Lydia,
- 12:17Speaker 3: Like why didn't we happen?
- 12:18Speaker 1: I'm into it so much?
- 12:24Speaker 3: Like I don't know why we didn't just have a
- 12:26Speaker 3: conversation about that it seemed like the most important thing
- 12:29Speaker 3: to them, and maybe the most important thing to Zach
- 12:32Speaker 3: was having the family and having the public know that
- 12:36Speaker 3: he's not controlling. And I'm just not fully convinced by that, agreed.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I wanted to also mention, and I'm sure you're gonna
- 12:44Speaker 1: bring it up, but let me just jump on step
- 12:46Speaker 1: on your toes. But like when Micah mentions that the
- 12:49Speaker 1: family in general does not know how to communicate and
- 12:53Speaker 1: that it was Barry and Kim that modeled this broken communication,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I felt like that really hit. Yes, you see Barry say,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know what, we didn't communicate, Well, we never did
- 13:03Speaker 1: in the house, and that's probably why you guys have
- 13:05Speaker 1: this issue now. And then later in this episode we
- 13:08Speaker 1: get into the Joshua of it all, and when the
- 13:12Speaker 1: moment when the family just stopped talking to each other. Yes,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and it was when Joshua passed away and Kim went
- 13:21Speaker 1: into her season of shocked depression. Everybody was shocked. Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 1: everybody was depressed and everybody just shut down at that time. Yes,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I thought that was poignant. Oh yeah, so before that happened,
- 13:34Speaker 1: were they communicating, were they interacting in a different way?
- 13:37Speaker 1: I wonder I.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Mean, they were all kids, you know, like they were
- 13:40Speaker 3: all young, so like, how much were the kids communicating
- 13:43Speaker 3: with the parents. I don't think that Barry and Kim
- 13:45Speaker 3: ever really communicated well at all, because obviously she became
- 13:50Speaker 3: a drunk fan and an adulterer, so like, they obviously
- 13:54Speaker 3: didn't have strong communication between the two of them, and
- 13:57Speaker 3: he was working all the time. So I thought it
- 13:59Speaker 3: was cool that Micah brought it up and Barry co
- 14:04Speaker 3: signed it and was validating of that, Like, I'm glad
- 14:07Speaker 3: that he didn't really pick up a fight with it
- 14:09Speaker 3: and be like, well, no, we did communicate.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Well I don't remember that correctly, Yeah, we were communicating
- 14:15Speaker 1: all the time. Nope, he owned it immediately.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I loved that Kim didn't really say.
- 14:19Speaker 1: That I said nothing because she's a she can't take
- 14:22Speaker 1: responsibility for anything.
- 14:24Speaker 3: So frustrating. But I just I'm glad that it didn't
- 14:26Speaker 3: end up like in a fight, because if I would
- 14:29Speaker 3: have brought something like that up to members of my family,
- 14:33Speaker 3: totally would have ended up in a fight and everyone
- 14:35Speaker 3: would have been super defensive and been like, no, I
- 14:37Speaker 3: wasn't like that at all. That's why I don't bring
- 14:39Speaker 3: that shit up, right, So I think it's cool that
- 14:41Speaker 3: they have an environment where the kids can bring shit
- 14:44Speaker 3: up like that and they don't react in a negative way. Now,
- 14:48Speaker 3: granted this is on camera, so like, I don't know
- 14:50Speaker 3: what happened after, but I just thought it was cool
- 14:52Speaker 3: to see. And so then at the end of this
- 14:55Speaker 3: conversation with the family, I think it was Micah who
- 14:58Speaker 3: also brought up like, well, that's go around in a
- 15:00Speaker 3: circle and talk about things that we're bad at everything,
- 15:06Speaker 3: and this was kind of funny. So we have Amber
- 15:10Speaker 3: saying that Mariah never cleans her room, which is funny,
- 15:13Speaker 3: but Mariah doesn't even live at.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Home, so I don't know why she really cares.
- 15:16Speaker 3: We have Zach telling Lydia that she needs to be
- 15:18Speaker 3: better about waking up in the morning, which.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I thought was kind of fun and making me my breakfast.
- 15:22Speaker 3: No, damn, okay, Zach. We have Lydia telling Kim that
- 15:28Speaker 3: she needs to narrow down her ideas and follow through
- 15:31Speaker 3: with the shit that she wants to do, which is like,
- 15:35Speaker 3: this is echoed multiple times in the episode.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I really want to know where that originates from.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah, ballet studio affair.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Various places she's lived, a boat, exact stuff, yep.
- 15:46Speaker 3: The religion, kombucha, like all the things. We have Kim
- 15:50Speaker 3: telling Micah that she would like to hear from him more,
- 15:53Speaker 3: and Amber also says this as well, Like when Micah
- 15:56Speaker 3: brought up the whole communication comment, Amber's like, well, that's
- 16:00Speaker 3: rich cunning from Micah who lives in Florida and doesn't
- 16:02Speaker 3: talk to anybody.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe that's how he's healing. It's because he's not
- 16:07Speaker 1: talking to y'all.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Maybe he's trying to get his grounding going on. And
- 16:12Speaker 3: then we have Barry telling Zach to maybe stop saying
- 16:16Speaker 3: let's go amen.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I just want to co sign that let's go cringe.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And we talked about that last season. I think because
- 16:25Speaker 3: he said it in his vows he did cringe. And
- 16:29Speaker 3: then we have Micah telling Ethan that, hey, you're one
- 16:33Speaker 3: of the most hardworking people I know, but you need
- 16:35Speaker 3: to grow the fuck up base facts. I mean, Mike.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Drop Ethan is emotionally underdeveloped. There's something wrong with Ethan.
- 16:46Speaker 1: This was going to be my takeaway for the whole
- 16:48Speaker 1: episode because I was just watching him seen to scene
- 16:51Speaker 1: to scene and he's so closed down, he's so non emotive.
- 16:57Speaker 1: But there was something about it that felt put on
- 17:01Speaker 1: to me, like it wasn't it wasn't natural. It was
- 17:04Speaker 1: almost like performing brokenness or performing stoicism, or wanting everyone
- 17:11Speaker 1: to think he was a badass. My brother doesn't smile.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You never know when my brother's happy or sad, and
- 17:17Speaker 1: he's got these faces and they're all angry, like he
- 17:19Speaker 1: wants people to think that of himself for some reason.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I don't think it's true, though, I don't know. Something's
- 17:26Speaker 1: very wrong with Ethan Plath in my opinion.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I do agree there's something wrong. I don't know
- 17:31Speaker 3: if it's like as pathological as him performing like brokenness
- 17:35Speaker 3: or performing sadness. I think he's hashtag depressed. And we'll
- 17:42Speaker 3: get into it, Okay, I'll save my unhinged takes for
- 17:46Speaker 3: a little bit later, because I do have some opinions.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I just thought he acted weird this entire total episode. Yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 3: acted hella weird. And so then we end the conversation
- 17:56Speaker 3: with the Plaths by Zach saying in his talking head
- 17:59Speaker 3: that you know, he's glad that Kim said she accepts
- 18:02Speaker 3: him in the family, but he does believe that actions
- 18:05Speaker 3: speak louder than words, and so he hopes that Kim
- 18:08Speaker 3: will mean what she says with that, and I feel
- 18:13Speaker 3: like she won't.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And I think the way that Zach was communicating that
- 18:17Speaker 1: indicates that he doesn't think that she will.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I don't think he trusts her, which means Lydia doesn't. Yes,
- 18:23Speaker 3: And honestly, why would you write? Why would you? Then
- 18:27Speaker 3: we shift gears a bit and we go to a
- 18:30Speaker 3: wig shop with Mariah, Amber and Ethan, and this is
- 18:34Speaker 3: where we hear primarily from Mariah about her struggles with
- 18:38Speaker 3: her alopecia and her journey in accepting her disease basically
- 18:45Speaker 3: and accepting her baldness and everything. And it was a
- 18:49Speaker 3: really difficult thing for her because obviously she has always
- 18:53Speaker 3: been very insecure about her alopecia, always insecure about losing
- 18:57Speaker 3: her hair obviously, because it's been something that's been very
- 19:01Speaker 3: traumatic for her nearly her entire life. And so she
- 19:06Speaker 3: talks about losing her hair again. Now, the last time
- 19:09Speaker 3: she lost her hair was I think after Joshua passed, right, because.
- 19:14Speaker 1: She was kind of patchy when she was down in
- 19:16Speaker 1: Tallahassee dating the Humpty Dumpty guy for sure. Yeah, and
- 19:21Speaker 1: she's been patchy intermittently, but she's really not lost all
- 19:24Speaker 1: of her whole hair, like she.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Did after Joshua passed away up.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Until Lydia's wedding is when it started happening again.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Yeah, so she said she was losing her hair during
- 19:33Speaker 3: Lydia's wedding. That was when she had the patches and
- 19:36Speaker 3: it was really hard on her. We remember seeing that
- 19:39Speaker 3: last season. She was really sad about it and crying
- 19:42Speaker 3: a lot. And this was before her move to Montana
- 19:44Speaker 3: and it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Was on the heels of her breakup with the married
- 19:48Speaker 1: with the kid. Yeah, so I think that really traumatized her. Yes,
- 19:52Speaker 1: And when we look at Mariah as an innocent young
- 19:55Speaker 1: woman who doesn't have a lot of worldly experience because
- 19:57Speaker 1: her parents couldn't be arsed to give her an we
- 20:00Speaker 1: can see her falling in love with somebody like head
- 20:03Speaker 1: over heels and pinning her whole world on that guy,
- 20:06Speaker 1: only to have him return to his wife or to
- 20:09Speaker 1: see her in some way, and how traumatizing that could
- 20:12Speaker 1: be to a young lady like that. Yep, and then
- 20:14Speaker 1: triggering another alopecia episode, which is what she was going through.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And it's very sad.
- 20:20Speaker 3: That was very sad, totally sad, And so you know,
- 20:23Speaker 3: after she started getting more and more patches of hair loss.
- 20:27Speaker 3: She ultimately decided to shave her head because she knew
- 20:30Speaker 3: she was just going to lose all of it. And
- 20:33Speaker 3: she talks about how when she made that decision, all
- 20:36Speaker 3: she wanted the only person she wanted to do that
- 20:39Speaker 3: for her was Ethan.
- 20:40Speaker 1: She wanted Ethan to.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Shave her head. And this was kind of an interesting
- 20:46Speaker 3: window into their relationship for me, because you know, I've
- 20:49Speaker 3: been seeing people online criticize this particular scene a lot,
- 20:54Speaker 3: and they were criticizing Ethan and criticizing Mariah's like quote
- 20:58Speaker 3: unquote obsession with Ethan because they're like, they're like, why
- 21:02Speaker 3: would she choose Ethan? He's such a piece of of shit.
- 21:04Speaker 3: I thought she was closer with Micah and blah blah blah,
- 21:07Speaker 3: and I'm like, I didn't get that vibe at all.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I actually was kind of emotional during this scene, and
- 21:13Speaker 3: I thought it was actually really sweet that she wanted Ethan,
- 21:16Speaker 3: out of all people, to shave her head. And Ethan
- 21:20Speaker 3: himself is like a little confused as to why she
- 21:24Speaker 3: wanted him to shave her head, but he ultimately agreed
- 21:28Speaker 3: to do it, and he did it, and then he
- 21:30Speaker 3: told her that she was beautiful, and he kissed the
- 21:32Speaker 3: top of her head and you know that he loved
- 21:34Speaker 3: her no matter what, and I just like, I think
- 21:36Speaker 3: that was really sweet. But people online are super critical
- 21:40Speaker 3: of it.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Well, people online won't allow these people to be actual
- 21:44Speaker 1: humans with facets to themselves, and so they're never going
- 21:48Speaker 1: to afford Ethan any kind of grace, and many of
- 21:51Speaker 1: them won't afford Mariah any kind of grace, And that
- 21:54Speaker 1: one I don't really get because Mariah just strikes me
- 21:56Speaker 1: as somebody who needs a lot of love. She's a
- 21:59Speaker 1: troubled young she's trying to find herself, she's working on herself.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Like I have every good feeling and thought for Mariah yep,
- 22:05Speaker 1: and I wish her nothing but the best. And these
- 22:08Speaker 1: types of stories about Ethan hearten me because he's not
- 22:13Speaker 1: completely lost, he's not completely down in some dark hole
- 22:16Speaker 1: being an absolute asshole all the time. He does have
- 22:19Speaker 1: the capacity to be gentle and kind sometimes. Yeah that
- 22:23Speaker 1: we just need to get him to access that all
- 22:26Speaker 1: the time so he can be a better person. But
- 22:27Speaker 1: that's his personal arc that we're watching in the show exactly,
- 22:31Speaker 1: which is what makes it interesting to me. And I'm
- 22:33Speaker 1: gonna shit on Ethan all day, every day, and he
- 22:35Speaker 1: deserves it. But when he does something right or when
- 22:39Speaker 1: he's moving in the right direction, we should all have
- 22:41Speaker 1: the maturity to acknowledge that. And that's what I thought
- 22:44Speaker 1: that was.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I agree completely, And Mariah even talks about it, like,
- 22:48Speaker 3: you know, not everyone gets to see this side of Ethan,
- 22:51Speaker 3: but she gets to see it, and she wants to
- 22:54Speaker 3: express that to the world and express that to other
- 22:56Speaker 3: people because she wants to convey that, yeah, isn't a
- 23:00Speaker 3: complete piece of shit all the fucking time. You know,
- 23:02Speaker 3: he has these moments where he really shines through. And
- 23:06Speaker 3: I thought it was really sweet, and I was thinking
- 23:08Speaker 3: about it, like, you know, why would she want Ethan
- 23:10Speaker 3: to do this for her? And I was thinking, like,
- 23:12Speaker 3: it's because he's stoic. I know he comes off very hard.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I know he is very He's got like a resting
- 23:19Speaker 3: bitch face all the fucking time, and I know a
- 23:21Speaker 3: lot of people perceive that to be like he's just
- 23:24Speaker 3: boiling in rage all of the time. But I think
- 23:27Speaker 3: that underneath that, he's got a lot of stoicism. And
- 23:30Speaker 3: I think that that's what Mariah probably needed in that
- 23:32Speaker 3: moment with her needing to shave her head, and she
- 23:35Speaker 3: wanted her older brother to do that, and I thought
- 23:37Speaker 3: that was sweet.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I don't think stoicism. Isn't that a philosophy. Isn't that
- 23:42Speaker 1: like a way of life? People choose sure in order
- 23:45Speaker 1: to like the way they pass through life. They are
- 23:47Speaker 1: non reactive, like it's a thoughtful stance you take in life.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And I just don't think that's what Ethan is doing,
- 23:54Speaker 1: because I don't think he's thoughtful. I think he's thoroughly reactive.
- 23:58Speaker 1: It's just happening almost entirely on the inside, you know,
- 24:02Speaker 1: the stuff that he's dealing with all the time, inner narratives,
- 24:05Speaker 1: his rage, what he's feeling that he doesn't know how
- 24:08Speaker 1: to control. So his culping mechanism isn't stoicism. It is
- 24:12Speaker 1: just not showing any emotions because I think the moment
- 24:15Speaker 1: that he does, he's going to be out of control.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And if we trust what Olivia Plath has said about
- 24:21Speaker 1: some of the arguments and disagreements that they got into
- 24:23Speaker 1: when they were married, like, yeah, he had a hot head,
- 24:26Speaker 1: he was out of control, and she claims he was abusive,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and so maybe this is his attempt to kind of
- 24:32Speaker 1: keep that all under wraps. But is it stoicism. I
- 24:35Speaker 1: don't think so.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I mean I didn't mean it like in
- 24:38Speaker 3: terms of the philosophy. I meant it in more of
- 24:40Speaker 3: like his energy, like he wasn't reactive, like he didn't
- 24:43Speaker 3: cry or whatever with her, like she just needed like
- 24:46Speaker 3: a stronger presence or like a stoic presence of just
- 24:49Speaker 3: like yeah, I'll do that for you and I'll be
- 24:52Speaker 3: there for you type of a thing, because Mariah is
- 24:54Speaker 3: more of an emotionally sensitive person, especially going through something
- 24:58Speaker 3: like this. So this is where it'll bring me to
- 25:01Speaker 3: my uncensored take.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear it.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Ethan Plath back from Uncensored with my inappropriate diagnosing of Ethan.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I'm a psychologist now apparently.
- 25:14Speaker 1: So by the way, if you want access to all
- 25:17Speaker 1: of our uncensored bits, you have to be a patriot. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: only for patrons. Come and join us. It's a lot
- 25:23Speaker 1: of fun and we say some unhinged things. Sometimes. I
- 25:26Speaker 1: didn't think that was too unhinged. I could actually see
- 25:28Speaker 1: your rational But back to the recap, babes.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So yeah, so everybody was critical of Ethan in this
- 25:33Speaker 3: scene because he was totally. He had his resting pitch
- 25:37Speaker 3: face on the entire time. It didn't seem like he
- 25:40Speaker 3: wanted to be at the whig shop, but he was
- 25:42Speaker 3: going because or I wanted him there. I mean, this
- 25:45Speaker 3: is a dude who works on cars, Like, do you
- 25:47Speaker 3: think he really wants to be at a beauty store
- 25:49Speaker 3: on his day off.
- 25:50Speaker 1: This is also his only job, so he has to
- 25:52Speaker 1: show up to film scenes and this is one of
- 25:55Speaker 1: the scenes he has agreed to film exactly.
- 25:57Speaker 3: But my main takeaway with all of this was I
- 25:59Speaker 3: thought it was sweet that Mariah has done so much
- 26:02Speaker 3: work on herself. She is learning to accept herself as
- 26:05Speaker 3: she is. She is embracing her wig era right now,
- 26:09Speaker 3: and I think she looks absolutely beautiful. She looks healthier too.
- 26:14Speaker 3: She does, in my opinion, like a couple seasons ago,
- 26:17Speaker 3: she was looking pretty rough. And I'll just leave it there.
- 26:21Speaker 3: So I'm glad that she is working on herself. I
- 26:23Speaker 3: think she's doing great. I think it's great that Amber
- 26:26Speaker 3: and Ethan were there for her, and that's that well.
- 26:30Speaker 1: She also took off her wig and showed yes, America
- 26:34Speaker 1: she did, and she said, this is the first time
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'm taking off my wig. In public. Yeah, so she
- 26:39Speaker 1: took it off in front of the store clerk. She
- 26:43Speaker 1: took it off in front of her family, and she
- 26:45Speaker 1: took it off in front of all of us. And
- 26:46Speaker 1: I would imagine that takes a lot of bravery, especially
- 26:50Speaker 1: when this is something that is so sensitive and tender
- 26:53Speaker 1: for her. And she did it. And she tried on
- 26:57Speaker 1: her wigs. I loved like the coppery one. I didn't
- 27:00Speaker 1: like the black one, which she seemed to love. It's
- 27:02Speaker 1: too harsh on her. It's very goth, it's very vampiric.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I like the softer waves and colors.
- 27:08Speaker 3: But you do you boo, I know, I'm like, you
- 27:10Speaker 3: embrace it, And I think it's kind of fun, Like
- 27:12Speaker 3: how fon would it be to like pick out a
- 27:14Speaker 3: different hairstyle all the time? Me and the Hello, the green?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Right?
- 27:19Speaker 3: She needs to get one of these?
- 27:20Speaker 1: She sure does.
- 27:22Speaker 3: And then we shift gears entirely and we go to Georgio's,
- 27:26Speaker 3: a restaurant in beautiful kro where Lydia and Kim apparently
- 27:32Speaker 3: work out. Yeah they worked their last year too, right, Yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 3: Lydia's like a hostess. Okay, she probably works at the
- 27:39Speaker 3: bar or something, serves drinks. Or whatever. But yeah, so
- 27:41Speaker 3: Lydia and Kim both work at this restaurant, except Kim
- 27:44Speaker 3: is not working tonight. It's her day off, and so
- 27:46Speaker 3: she's going to have a party or whatever to celebrate
- 27:49Speaker 3: this new era of her life with her new hot man,
- 27:52Speaker 3: Ken Palmer, and Lydia happens to be working this night.
- 27:56Speaker 3: She's going to be their server, and you know, we
- 27:59Speaker 3: kind of start off the conversation with like Kim being like, yeah,
- 28:03Speaker 3: maybe a little awkward because there's some tension between me
- 28:06Speaker 3: and Lydia, but like hopefully it'll be okay. And we
- 28:09Speaker 3: have a bunch of rando producer planted friends that are
- 28:12Speaker 3: at this party.
- 28:14Speaker 1: The brain Trust of Cairo has shown up for this event,
- 28:17Speaker 1: the Roast of Kim Plath.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Which okay, they introduce this like we're gonna roast Kim,
- 28:24Speaker 3: and it wasn't even a roast. It was like, let's
- 28:26Speaker 3: you're so awesome and I really look forward to like
- 28:29Speaker 3: the rest of your awesome life. I love you, mom,
- 28:32Speaker 3: You're great. You're such a great mom. I'm so glad
- 28:35Speaker 3: you're in my life. Like this was not a roast
- 28:37Speaker 3: at all. Can we talk? Can we actually roast her?
- 28:40Speaker 1: We could roast her. I've got shit to say.
- 28:42Speaker 3: We did a little bit last week, but anyway, so
- 28:47Speaker 3: Kim wants to celebrate this new era of her life
- 28:49Speaker 3: with her new man because she loves Ken Palmer for
- 28:51Speaker 3: some reason, and she's really glad that the divorce is final.
- 28:55Speaker 3: She can move on with her life and live in
- 28:58Speaker 3: the farmhouse Ken, which I'm just like, he is not
- 29:02Speaker 3: a prize. Why are we acting like at all? This
- 29:05Speaker 3: is such a great era of your life.
- 29:07Speaker 1: So he's retired.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yeah, so he's.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Unemployed, he's homeless and truthless, and now he's living under
- 29:14Speaker 1: Barry's roof. Yeah, because I'm not convinced to own that
- 29:17Speaker 1: farm outright, Kim.
- 29:19Speaker 3: We did get comments last week. Yeah, people were saying
- 29:22Speaker 3: that apparently Kim inherited that farm from her family. But
- 29:27Speaker 3: I was trying to fact check that on the interwebs
- 29:30Speaker 3: and I couldn't find anything about it. I guess people
- 29:33Speaker 3: were saying she said this in the earlier seasons. I
- 29:36Speaker 3: don't remember that at all. Me neither, And I don't
- 29:39Speaker 3: know what that really means, Like did she inherit it?
- 29:42Speaker 3: And did her and Barry, like, do they co own it?
- 29:47Speaker 3: Is his name on the title.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I think once you get an inheritance and then you
- 29:52Speaker 1: commingle it with the family stuff, then it becomes something
- 29:56Speaker 1: that he has access to in a divorce or you
- 29:59Speaker 1: have a that precludes that. I don't know how interesting.
- 30:03Speaker 3: I had not heard that, and I don't remember that
- 30:06Speaker 3: in the earlier seasons whatsoever, like, so I don't know
- 30:09Speaker 3: how true it is. I was trying to fact check it,
- 30:11Speaker 3: like to see if there's articles about it, and it
- 30:13Speaker 3: was really just people on Facebook talking about it.
- 30:15Speaker 1: So interesting that I don't know. Maybe she owns it.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I guess maybe it's her joint. And if it's her joint,
- 30:21Speaker 1: she can install the one eyed Ken Palmer there if
- 30:23Speaker 1: she chooses to. I don't know why she would.
- 30:27Speaker 3: I guess in my opinion. Yeah, when you raise your
- 30:30Speaker 3: whole family on this farm.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're still raising young children there.
- 30:35Speaker 3: And you had a thirty year marriage with this dude and.
- 30:38Speaker 1: You cheated on it, and you cheated on him with
- 30:40Speaker 1: Ken Palmer.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Like, it's still inappropriate.
- 30:43Speaker 1: It's entirely inappropriate, but whatever, And so to be further inappropriate,
- 30:49Speaker 1: I think we need to discuss kim Plath's unfortunate style choices. Yes,
- 30:56Speaker 1: has she gained weight, indeed she has. Is that wrong
- 30:59Speaker 1: of us to say? You know, it's not because it's
- 31:01Speaker 1: going to be a plot point for the season. She's
- 31:03Speaker 1: going to address it herself. She's gonna be working with
- 31:05Speaker 1: a kettle all st Yes, we have eyes and everything.
- 31:09Speaker 1: So you can be heavier set and wear nice clothes,
- 31:14Speaker 1: fashionable clothes, wear fashion that is suitable for your figure.
- 31:19Speaker 3: For sure.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I don't know what Kim is doing. We're talking. It's
- 31:24Speaker 1: not even Cole's level. It's not it's like.
- 31:27Speaker 3: It's like Walmart.
- 31:28Speaker 1: It's Walmart, but I mean you can find nice things
- 31:30Speaker 1: at Walmart. You can shop for some things that are
- 31:32Speaker 1: cute or whatever. It is so dowdy, so matronly. Yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 1: And it's either because she feels really insecure about her figure,
- 31:41Speaker 1: maybe because she's gained weight or whatever, or she just
- 31:44Speaker 1: has absolutely no fashion sense. And she wears those big
- 31:47Speaker 1: sandals and like crocs and like old lady slash from
- 31:52Speaker 1: JC Pannies. It's bizarre. I know, she looks like a
- 31:56Speaker 1: lunch lady.
- 31:58Speaker 3: She does look like a.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Lunch Oh, lady, Kim, you're on a television show. This
- 32:03Speaker 1: is your eighth season of broadcasting. You're telling me. You
- 32:07Speaker 1: can't afford even one day with a stylist at the
- 32:10Speaker 1: Macy's or something. This is terrible.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Well, it's like she's the one that initiated the divorce
- 32:16Speaker 3: because she was unhappy, and like normally when you're the
- 32:18Speaker 3: one that initiates the divorce, like you have a glow
- 32:21Speaker 3: up era. I remember what my parents divorced, Like both
- 32:24Speaker 3: my parents were like, let's get hot, let's get skinny,
- 32:27Speaker 3: Like they went and dressed to the nines like it
- 32:29Speaker 3: was a thing.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And I'm just like, Kim is going in the other
- 32:33Speaker 1: direction then, but it.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Kind of matches like her new partner, old man Ken.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but apparently he doesn't like it. I guess.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I don't know either. I just had to raise this
- 32:46Speaker 1: issue because it's disturbing me every time I see her,
- 32:48Speaker 1: Like when she was out in last week's episode by
- 32:52Speaker 1: the boat. Yeah, she was wearing some like crocs or
- 32:55Speaker 1: orthopedic shoes with like some black polyester slacks and Cole's top.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I was just like, what's going on?
- 33:03Speaker 3: Look, I guess it's better than the mini skirts that
- 33:06Speaker 3: we had last season.
- 33:07Speaker 1: That's true.
- 33:08Speaker 3: I'd rather see her in some Kmart slacks and some
- 33:11Speaker 3: grandma lunch lady attire than watch her full ass.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I wonder if she is like following the blogs, if
- 33:19Speaker 1: she's reading on Reddit because she has been roasted so
- 33:22Speaker 1: thoroughly about those skirts and those mini skirts and her fashion.
- 33:27Speaker 1: If she listens to our podcast, Well, I'm sorry, I
- 33:32Speaker 1: just would like to apologize from one human to another.
- 33:35Speaker 1: And I don't I don't mean it. I'm not sorry,
- 33:37Speaker 1: but I am concerned.
- 33:39Speaker 3: It's bad.
- 33:40Speaker 1: It is, it's bad.
- 33:42Speaker 3: So anyway, we're back at Georgio's, and you know, we
- 33:45Speaker 3: have this whole like introduction to the roast of kim
- 33:48Speaker 3: Plas from one of her friends, and it's like, okay,
- 33:53Speaker 3: so dumb because nobody actually roasts her. We have Ethan saying,
- 33:58Speaker 3: you know, yeah, you've got more ATVs than children, But like,
- 34:02Speaker 3: I love you, mommy, and I'm so glad that you're
- 34:04Speaker 3: in my life. And then we have somebody else, Ken saying,
- 34:09Speaker 3: you know, I'm retired.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to living on the farm, dude, being
- 34:17Speaker 2: racist together and doing all the projects that you want
- 34:20Speaker 2: way to do and watching you get fatter, eat all
- 34:24Speaker 2: that sugar, playing my juke box. God, what a dynamic couple.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Can you imagine, like you leave Barry and Barry gets jacked. Yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 3: he gets super fit, loses all this weight, He's super
- 34:38Speaker 3: muscly and look, Berry's not like super attractive or anything. Indeed,
- 34:43Speaker 3: but compare if you had to pick between Barry.
- 34:45Speaker 1: And Barry all day. People bought Barry all day every day.
- 34:49Speaker 3: I'm just like, I know this is inappropriate, but I'm like,
- 34:52Speaker 3: can can even get hard?
- 34:56Speaker 1: That is so inappropriate? He probably has to have to
- 34:58Speaker 1: pla I don't know.
- 35:00Speaker 3: But like, can he really like, Well, he can't get.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Hard for her, his brittley sugar hips. He can't get
- 35:07Speaker 1: hard for her because he's not attracted to her according
- 35:10Speaker 1: to Kim in the season preview. So not only is
- 35:13Speaker 1: he too old to get hard according to Beatrice with
- 35:16Speaker 1: hit problems, but he also is not attracted to her,
- 35:19Speaker 1: so he can't get hard. So there's no sex happening
- 35:22Speaker 1: in that relationship.
- 35:23Speaker 3: So then you left this marriage for what you left.
- 35:26Speaker 1: That Dynamo Barry for Ken Palmer, the racist Kim Palmer.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Good on you, Kim making good choices out in the world.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I feel like she's just at this point where she's like,
- 35:38Speaker 3: I've just got to accept this is what I gotta do?
- 35:40Speaker 1: What else can I do?
- 35:41Speaker 3: And I'm like, you could break up with Ken Palmer and.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Then what and then do what?
- 35:48Speaker 2: Go on?
- 35:48Speaker 3: Plenty of fish, find someone else.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Listen. Kim is fundamentally foundationally a beautiful woman. Yeah, like
- 35:56Speaker 1: she could get her groove back. Yeah, she could get
- 35:59Speaker 1: a bit healthy, she could start being active or whatever.
- 36:02Speaker 1: She should lose two or three hundred pounds. I'm sorry,
- 36:05Speaker 1: that is so rude coming from a fat chick just
- 36:08Speaker 1: just wilding out over here. But she could live a
- 36:10Speaker 1: little weight. Yeah, she could slim down, Yeah, she could,
- 36:12Speaker 1: just the eyelighter could not be as smudge. She could
- 36:16Speaker 1: like maybe get a style, she get a different lip
- 36:18Speaker 1: bomb in her fifties or sure, pretty woman, but she
- 36:21Speaker 1: is going the wrong way with that Ken Palmer. Honey.
- 36:25Speaker 3: She just can't, man, I just can't. And then we
- 36:28Speaker 3: also had one of her friends like give her a
- 36:30Speaker 3: bottle of wine. And this was like kind of a
- 36:33Speaker 3: dig to Barry because I guess last year when they
- 36:36Speaker 3: had their final conversation after the divorce was final, you know,
- 36:39Speaker 3: Barry said that he bought her a bottle of wine.
- 36:42Speaker 3: I was so didn't and she was bitter about it.
- 36:45Speaker 3: And so her friend bought her a bottle of wine,
- 36:47Speaker 3: and I'm just like, Kim, do you really need more wine?
- 36:49Speaker 1: Though I don't think she does. Do you really need
- 36:51Speaker 1: a bottle of wet? You see that red face, you
- 36:53Speaker 1: see that inflammation.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I feel like that's part of your issue, but you
- 36:57Speaker 3: know whatever, So we continue with the row. You know,
- 37:01Speaker 3: Ken Saundra's bag must we Ken Sondra's back on to
- 37:05Speaker 3: the table. He kisses Kim in front of everybody, and
- 37:08Speaker 3: I feel like this is the first time we've actually
- 37:10Speaker 3: seen them kiss, like in public and on camera, and
- 37:13Speaker 3: I'm grossed out. I don't want to see any more
- 37:15Speaker 3: of it. Then we have Lydia who stands up to
- 37:19Speaker 3: roast her mom, but she doesn't really I mean she
- 37:21Speaker 3: kind of a little bit. She says, you know, we've
- 37:23Speaker 3: had her ups and downs and our relationship, but I'm
- 37:27Speaker 3: ready to start a new chapter. And you know, Mom,
- 37:30Speaker 3: you know you could just maybe not have so many ideas.
- 37:38Speaker 1: What does this mean?
- 37:39Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 37:40Speaker 1: She keep mentioned. They keep mentioning this.
- 37:42Speaker 3: They talk about how Kim has all these ideas and
- 37:44Speaker 3: then she never really follows through with them, or she
- 37:46Speaker 3: just makes too many choices or something, and so I'm like,
- 37:49Speaker 3: are you guys referencing the ballet studio or are you
- 37:52Speaker 3: referenced it.
- 37:52Speaker 1: It sounds like they're scared to actually roast her. There's
- 37:55Speaker 1: a million things right in this moment that I could
- 37:57Speaker 1: roast on and that I have already roasted her on.
- 38:00Speaker 1: You guys can't say any of those things.
- 38:01Speaker 3: It's kind of weird. It is strange how they don't
- 38:04Speaker 3: want to actually be critical of her, because I feel
- 38:07Speaker 3: like if the tables returned, like if it was Barry,
- 38:09Speaker 3: Barry wouldn't care, Like Barry, you're bald. He would laugh
- 38:12Speaker 3: about it, like you wouldn't care, Barry, you worked too
- 38:16Speaker 3: much when we were kids, Like he would be like, yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: True, yeah, But I mean, Ki Kim was tense just
- 38:23Speaker 1: having Lydia there because of all the things Lydia could say, yeah,
- 38:27Speaker 1: if Lydia wanted to say them, and she knew there
- 38:29Speaker 1: were a lot of things that Lydia could say yes,
- 38:31Speaker 1: but Lydia was gracious.
- 38:33Speaker 3: She was way too gracious in my opinion. And then
- 38:35Speaker 3: in her talking head she talks about how she's reflected
- 38:39Speaker 3: on the last year or so about how she was
- 38:42Speaker 3: upset that Kim didn't really accept Zach immediately, you know,
- 38:47Speaker 3: with their fast engagement and fast relationship, and Lydia, to
- 38:52Speaker 3: her credit, is like, well, I didn't do that with
- 38:54Speaker 3: my mom and Ken, because when they got together, it
- 38:57Speaker 3: was also fast, and it was also rushed.
- 38:59Speaker 1: And it was also adultery. It was also a sin
- 39:02Speaker 1: against the Lord. It was also a statement that was
- 39:05Speaker 1: completely antithetical to everything Kim ever taught her entire family.
- 39:09Speaker 1: So there's a lot more going on with that.
- 39:11Speaker 3: So like Lydia using this as a way to be like, oh,
- 39:15Speaker 3: I understand my mom, and you know I didn't accept
- 39:18Speaker 3: her and Ken, and now I do. So you know,
- 39:20Speaker 3: through this acceptance acceptance, maybe my mom will accept Zach.
- 39:24Speaker 3: And I'm just like girl, No, it's two different things, entire.
- 39:27Speaker 3: It's two different things. Your mom broke up your entire
- 39:29Speaker 3: family for Ken.
- 39:32Speaker 1: She cracked it open for a one eyed racist, then
- 39:36Speaker 1: wrapped her car around a tree, embarrassed, your entire family left,
- 39:40Speaker 1: Your father is drunk all the time. It's different than
- 39:45Speaker 1: her not accepting Zach.
- 39:47Speaker 3: But God bless Lydia is such a kind I'm going
- 39:51Speaker 3: to be tired of it if this is what it's
- 39:52Speaker 3: going to be.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Episode to episode is just Lydia bending over backward to
- 39:57Speaker 1: understand Kim an agent of chaos, to come into this
- 40:02Speaker 1: situation and tell him the truth and be ruthless about it,
- 40:06Speaker 1: for sure. Is there anybody on this cast who can
- 40:08Speaker 1: do that or that would.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Maybe Amber she's got the fire in her a little bit. Yeah,
- 40:12Speaker 3: she's kind of sassy, but she's living with her mom
- 40:15Speaker 3: right now and she's kind of taking her mom's side.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I don't know. I guess I kind of related to
- 40:20Speaker 3: Lydia a bit in this scene because I've totally done
- 40:23Speaker 3: this with my own family, where I've been like so
- 40:26Speaker 3: understanding about things that like I really shouldn't have been
- 40:30Speaker 3: understanding about, and you know, to you, you've told me
- 40:34Speaker 3: to not be like that. My wife's told me not
- 40:37Speaker 3: to be like that, and I'm just like, no, Like
- 40:38Speaker 3: I can see their perspective. I love them, I care
- 40:42Speaker 3: about them, so like I relate to Lydia in that way,
- 40:44Speaker 3: But I do think she needs that righteous rage for sure.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Well, there is a difference between being gracious and being
- 40:51Speaker 1: a doormat and letting somebody walk all over you, yeah,
- 40:55Speaker 1: and letting somebody rewrite history, which with Kim Plath is
- 40:58Speaker 1: what I think she's trying to do, especially as it
- 41:00Speaker 1: concerns Ken Palmer and their relationships. She's trying to get
- 41:03Speaker 1: us all to buy into this new romance. Absolutely not.
- 41:07Speaker 1: It was born in sin and it's going to end
- 41:09Speaker 1: in sin and then judging the fuck out of it.
- 41:12Speaker 3: It is sinful, that's right. So we end that stupid
- 41:16Speaker 3: roast without actually roasting anything, and then we go over
- 41:20Speaker 3: to Ethan, who is playing guitar with his friend Austin,
- 41:24Speaker 3: who we have never seen before until just this moment,
- 41:26Speaker 3: but apparently they've been best friends for like five years
- 41:30Speaker 3: or something. Sure, John allegedly and.
- 41:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 41:34Speaker 3: This was kind of like a nothing burger.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Let's just get right through it. Ethan singing a dumb
- 41:39Speaker 1: song about Olivia, and then he's talking about a dumb
- 41:42Speaker 1: song that he wrote about Teagan because he misses Teagan
- 41:46Speaker 1: and he wants to do something about Teagan, and Austin
- 41:49Speaker 1: is encouraging him to just let it go. If it's
- 41:52Speaker 1: not meant for us, we should just let it go.
- 41:54Speaker 1: If it comes back it was meant to blah blah
- 41:56Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Moral the story, Ethan's depressed thinking a lot about Tegan.
- 42:01Speaker 3: He's thinking a lot about Tigan. Everything that he does,
- 42:05Speaker 3: everything he experiences, reminds him of Teagan, and I kind
- 42:08Speaker 3: of felt bad for him a little bit, But at
- 42:10Speaker 3: the same time, I'm like, dude, you ruined.
- 42:11Speaker 1: He fucked it up. You fucked it up, and this
- 42:13Speaker 1: is the consequence of your action. Plus you lied to her,
- 42:16Speaker 1: said you're gonna move to Wisconsin. You never did that.
- 42:18Speaker 3: He never she moved on.
- 42:19Speaker 1: She's a bombshell. Isat waiting around for your paleass Ethan.
- 42:23Speaker 3: But he is so buttered about it. It seems like
- 42:26Speaker 3: she probably broke up with him. He didn't break up
- 42:28Speaker 3: with her, So he's just he's sad, he's depressed. He's
- 42:31Speaker 3: playing guitar good. And then we get to the last
- 42:36Speaker 3: portion of the episode where we have like a spooky
- 42:39Speaker 3: Halloween corn maze with Mariah, Ethan, Isaac, and Kaylan aka
- 42:44Speaker 3: Pooky Bear. And at first it's just Ethan and Mariah
- 42:49Speaker 3: and Kaylan that are at the corn maze. Isaac comes
- 42:53Speaker 3: a little bit later and he's allegedly coming after work
- 42:57Speaker 3: that he has been at.
- 42:58Speaker 1: For fourteen hours picking peanut.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Picking peanuts in the hot sun. I guess he's exhausted.
- 43:04Speaker 3: He's like not happy about being there.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Can Berry not send his son to college?
- 43:09Speaker 2: No?
- 43:10Speaker 1: Was there no college fund for any of his children.
- 43:12Speaker 1: We've got to have our strapping young man who flies
- 43:16Speaker 1: planes work on a farm picking peanuts for fourteen hours
- 43:20Speaker 1: in the hot sun, instead of sending him to university
- 43:23Speaker 1: where you got to go. Barry, you got to graduate
- 43:25Speaker 1: from college and Kim, you work this piece of shit?
- 43:28Speaker 1: You got to go to university. I think you dropped out.
- 43:30Speaker 1: You didn't even finish, because you don't finish things apparently. No,
- 43:33Speaker 1: but you can't send your son, who's nineteen years old
- 43:36Speaker 1: and who has all the promise and potential in the
- 43:38Speaker 1: world to community college. I hate them for this.
- 43:41Speaker 3: I know it pisses me off. And I'm just like,
- 43:43Speaker 3: why is he working in the field if he's got
- 43:45Speaker 3: his pilot license. I thought he had his license and
- 43:47Speaker 3: everything he can fly planes. I'm like, why don't you
- 43:49Speaker 3: work at the airport?
- 43:50Speaker 1: Does he own the farm? Is it like one of
- 43:52Speaker 1: his own projects or is he working for somebody? I
- 43:55Speaker 1: would like more information.
- 43:56Speaker 3: I would like more information too, But obviously Isaac is
- 43:59Speaker 3: fun looking tired. He's been doing hard, backbreaking work. All day,
- 44:03Speaker 3: fourteen hours in the field, cheating and now probably cheating,
- 44:07Speaker 3: and now he has to come to another field and
- 44:10Speaker 3: he even says this, he's like not happy about being there.
- 44:12Speaker 3: He just wants to go home, take a shower, go
- 44:14Speaker 3: to bed. But he's there anyway. And so then they
- 44:17Speaker 3: go through this stupid corn maze and Mariah is like, I'm.
- 44:21Speaker 1: So scared, will you? That was a little tedious to
- 44:25Speaker 1: be cured.
- 44:25Speaker 3: It was so dramatic. I'm like, chill out, it's not
- 44:27Speaker 3: that big of a deal. Why are you here if
- 44:29Speaker 3: you're just scared. But while they're going through the maze,
- 44:32Speaker 3: we have this like little discussion about who needs to
- 44:34Speaker 3: be in the front and who needs to be in
- 44:36Speaker 3: the back. Kayln is like, I don't want to be
- 44:38Speaker 3: in the front or the back. I want to be
- 44:39Speaker 3: in the middle. I want to be protected by the
- 44:41Speaker 3: men Ethan be in the front as of be in
- 44:43Speaker 3: the back or whatever. And ultimately she ends up in
- 44:47Speaker 3: the very back, and she senses that this is an
- 44:50Speaker 3: indicator that something is wrong, specifically between her and Isaac.
- 44:54Speaker 3: They've been together for about a year now, but only
- 44:57Speaker 3: recently within the last few weeks there communication has started
- 45:01Speaker 3: to suffer and this is an indicator of that because
- 45:04Speaker 3: she's in the back and Isaac's in the front or what.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Cause he's cheating on her. He probably is cheating because
- 45:08Speaker 1: he's getting his pencil wet.
- 45:10Speaker 3: And so the episode ends with Isaac being like, Hey, Caylin,
- 45:13Speaker 3: can I talk to you in my truck for a second,
- 45:15Speaker 3: and he tells her to pull off her mic, so
- 45:18Speaker 3: they have a private conversation off camera, off mic, and
- 45:21Speaker 3: ultimately he fucking dumps her ass at the end of
- 45:24Speaker 3: the episode, which is so out of left field and
- 45:28Speaker 3: so weird and like it came out of nowhere. So
- 45:32Speaker 3: then we get to the preview for next week where
- 45:35Speaker 3: Isaac says he broke up with her because they were
- 45:37Speaker 3: moving too fast and he's too young, which means he's
- 45:41Speaker 3: probably wanting to fuck other people mm hmm, and Caylen
- 45:44Speaker 3: is blindsided because she thought he was the one. Oh,
- 45:48Speaker 3: I feel bad for her in love I feel I seriously,
- 45:51Speaker 3: they're like nineteen. I feel bad for her. And it's
- 45:54Speaker 3: weird because this is like filmed in Halloween time, and
- 45:57Speaker 3: I was on their instagrams and they had posted that
- 46:00Speaker 3: they were together in January of this year.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Well, in the season preview, we saw them together in Montana, right,
- 46:07Speaker 1: so they're going to get back together. And I thought
- 46:10Speaker 1: we saw in the preview Isaac apologizing for something. Hmm,
- 46:14Speaker 1: what could that be?
- 46:15Speaker 3: Sorry, I put my dick in someone else in.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Pooky number two. I had to give it to Pooky
- 46:21Speaker 1: number two.
- 46:21Speaker 3: That's what it seems like.
- 46:22Speaker 1: It seems so weird.
- 46:24Speaker 3: And so then also in the preview for next week,
- 46:26Speaker 3: we have Barry who's talking about dating and apparently Zach
- 46:30Speaker 3: Wise is gonna be helping.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Him the wingman, okay, because he's got so much game,
- 46:36Speaker 1: He's got so much riz play on play Okay, sure.
- 46:39Speaker 3: All right, whatever, And then we have the conversation with
- 46:44Speaker 3: Lydia and Kim where they're getting their hair done or whatever.
- 46:48Speaker 3: I think Lydia's doing Kim's hair, and Lydia tells Kim
- 46:52Speaker 3: that it feels like, you know, I'm talking to a
- 46:55Speaker 3: brick wall when I'm talking to you, And there's a
- 46:58Speaker 3: lot of a lack of transparent in a lack of vulnerability,
- 47:01Speaker 3: and we see Kim Plack crying about it. M M,
- 47:04Speaker 3: poor me.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I think that's going to be interesting, and I think
- 47:08Speaker 1: that Lydia is onto something I think I've mentioned how
- 47:13Speaker 1: Kim seems to be numbed out most of the time.
- 47:16Speaker 1: I don't think Kim has been herself since the accident
- 47:20Speaker 1: with Joshua. Agree, it's the moment that communication broke down
- 47:24Speaker 1: with absolutely everybody. It's when she started to go somewhere
- 47:29Speaker 1: else in her mind and in her heart, which ultimately
- 47:31Speaker 1: led her to break up the entire family. I think
- 47:33Speaker 1: she's truly damaged, and she keeps herself from feeling things. Yep,
- 47:37Speaker 1: and that is what Lydia is talking about, asking for
- 47:40Speaker 1: some vulnerability and some openness from Kim. She does not
- 47:43Speaker 1: know how to do it. She needs to go to therapy,
- 47:45Speaker 1: which we also saw her doing fake therapy yes in
- 47:48Speaker 1: the season previews. So maybe we're going to get into
- 47:50Speaker 1: some of this stuff.
- 47:51Speaker 3: I hope.
- 47:52Speaker 2: So.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I think that it's very interesting and I hope we do.
- 47:54Speaker 3: I agree completely.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Well, we're going to go on after this recap for
- 47:59Speaker 1: our patrons to watch Miss Olivia's most recent video because
- 48:04Speaker 1: she has a thing or two to say about some
- 48:06Speaker 1: of the things Ethan said in the last week's episode.
- 48:08Speaker 1: We're gonna watch that together and we're gonna comment on that.
- 48:11Speaker 1: But other than so, stay with us if you're a patron,
- 48:13Speaker 1: and if you're not a patron, definitely join us for
- 48:15Speaker 1: the convo. Is there anything else that we should say
- 48:18Speaker 1: to these beautiful raccoons before we get up on ada here?
- 48:21Speaker 3: Beatrice, Well, if you love our podcast, please show your
- 48:24Speaker 3: support by going to your favorite podcast platform and leave
- 48:27Speaker 3: us say glowing five star review really helps us grow
- 48:30Speaker 3: the pod some more. Puple can join us in the dumpster,
- 48:32Speaker 3: we would really abridge it. It's a the web.
- 48:34Speaker 1: We're gonna be back next week to talk sister wives
- 48:37Speaker 1: and continue the conversation about Welcome to Platt and tell
- 48:41Speaker 1: them please do not forget that we have nothing but
- 48:44Speaker 1: love for you
- 48:45Speaker 3: And please a night
