- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Stephanie Kate Boucher, and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal chart,
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more about it,
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: but didn't know where to begin,
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: or it seemed too complicated and you didn't have the time or the resources to
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: invest in learning it.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Hey astrology lovers, welcome welcome.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: We are back for part two of our conversation from last week about hemispheres and
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: quadrants in the natal chart and what they mean for you.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Last week
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: We talked about the difference between the northern hemisphere in your chart or
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: houses 1 through 6 and how having a lot of planets there can make you more reflective.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And we talked about the southern hemisphere in your chart or houses 7 through 12
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: and how many planets there can make you more outwardly focused and tuned in to
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: whatever is happening in the larger world around you.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: We also talked about the eastern and western hemispheres and the way that the
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: eastern placements can make you more independent,
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: while a lot of western placements can make you more partnership or relationship focused.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And then, finally, we talked about how these four hemispheres overlap to create quadrants.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: and what each of those quadrants signify.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: So if you haven't listened to that episode yet, I would not go any further with this one yet.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: This one might not make as much sense if you haven't listened to the previous discussion.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: So if that's you, I recommend you go back and do that first.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: For anyone else who has listened to the last episode,
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: though,
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: we are going to shift gears just a bit and talk about day charts versus night charts.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I alluded to this topic last week and promised we would cover it next.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And we're essentially talking about the southern versus northern hemispheres again,
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: or the top half and bottom half of your chart.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Except this time,
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: instead of looking at where the majority of your planets fall in your chart,
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: or how all of the planets collectively are spread out in your chart to determine
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: the overall energy or flavor,
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: for our purposes in this conversation,
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: we're just going to be talking about your natal sun.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Where is the sun located in your natal chart?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: of course,
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: it still matters where in the chart the rest of your planets are too,
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: because of course we are impacted by all of the planets in our chart.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So if you have the majority of your planets in a certain hemisphere or a certain quadrant,
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: that is very much going to impact you.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: But for now, we're just going to be talking about the sun.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: I think we've probably all figured out by now that in astrology,
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: there are always many things that are coming into play simultaneously.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, so day charts and night charts.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Let's get moving on this and let's determine which type of chart you have.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: If your natal sun is in the top half of your chart,
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: if it's above the horizon line,
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: above the ascendant-descendant axis,
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: that would be anywhere from the 7th to the 12th houses.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Then you have a day chart.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: You can also call this a diurnal chart.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: That's the fancy technical term for a day chart.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And that just means you were born during the day, or at least sometime between sunrise and sunset.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And the sun,
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: theoretically,
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: would have been visible in the sky when you were born,
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: in the place you were born.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: And conversely,
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: if your sun is in the bottom half of your chart,
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: if it's below the horizon line,
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: or it's below the ascendant-descendant axis line,
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: and it's in houses 1 through 6,
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: then you have a night chart.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And the fancy term for that is a nocturnal chart.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Which means that you were born at night, or sometime after sunset and before the next sunrise.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: You can literally tell the general time of day someone was born by looking at where
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: in the chart their natal sun is,
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: what quadrant it's in.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Because the ascendant line, as we know, is where the sun rises.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So anything above that,
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: like say the fourth quadrant,
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: houses 10 through 12,
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: if your sun is there,
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: you were born sometime between sunrise all the way up to midday or early afternoons.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: The third quadrant,
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: a sun there is going to indicate a birth time sometime between mid-afternoon and sunset.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: And then once you dip down below that descendant line on the right side of your chart,
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: That, of course, is sunset.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: So that second quadrant below the descendant line on the right-hand side,
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: a sun there would indicate an evening birth or something between sunset and,
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: say,
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: I don't know,
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: somewhere around midnight,
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: okay?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: And a first quadrant sun would indicate a birth probably after midnight but before sunrise, okay?
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Of course,
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: the exact times of day involved in this,
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: there's some variation there depending on the house system you're using and the
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: time of year you were born in and where you are on the planet and all of that.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So you have a day chart or a night chart depending on whether you were born during
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: the day when the sun was up in the sky or whether you were born at night when the
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: sun was set below the horizon and not visible to you.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I want to take just a moment to speak to anyone who might be listening whose sun
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: might be conjunct the ascendant or descendant line.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Because I know at this point,
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: you're all either looking at your charts or thinking about where your sun is.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And if you're one of those rarer cases where your sun is really,
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: really conjunct one of those angles,
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: it's very closely conjunct,
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: like at the same degree.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: You might be wondering how you can even determine if you have a day chart or a night chart.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And I would say you need to look at the exact degree and the exact minute of each
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: of those things,
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: because a lot of times it looks perfectly conjunct visually on the wheel,
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: but there's actually a small difference in placement.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: A difference of one degree is still one degree.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: One degree above or below the horizon is still either above or below the horizon.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: If the conjunction,
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: though,
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: is less than one degree,
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: then I think there are a couple of different ways to go with this.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: One very simple one is to look at the minutes.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Jennifer Lopez, the singer, may have a chart like this.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And I say may because I think you always have to take any chart you find online with a grain of salt.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Because when you look at celebrity charts on the internet...
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: one can never be for sure that the birth time presented is their correct birth time
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: and that this is in fact their most accurate chart.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: So this one that I'm looking at,
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: it might not be,
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know,
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: because I've actually seen a different chart for Jennifer Lopez where she's a Libra
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: rising rather than a Leo rising.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: But
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: I don't know, that one looked kind of made up to me just looking at the birth time.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: But let's assume for a second that the chart for Jennifer Lopez that I saw today on AstroSeek is correct.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Let's just go with that for now because this particular chart illustrates perfectly
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: what I want to explain.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm linking this chart in the show notes, by the way, so you can look at it in this chart.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: She has her natal sun exactly conjunct her ascendant line.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Her ascendant line is that one degree of Leo.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: And her natal sun is at one degree of Leo.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: That's an exact conjunction.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: But when you take into account the minutes in addition to the degree,
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: her ascendant is at one degree and 16 minutes of Leo,
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: while her sun is at one degree and 18 minutes of Leo.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: That's two minutes.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: And it's one of the smallest differences I think I've ever seen in a conjunction,
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: but it's still a difference.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: When you look at it this way, the sun is still slightly lower than the horizon line.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: It's below the ascendant, which could make this a night chart.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: if her sun were at 1 degree and 14 minutes instead of 18 minutes,
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: that would put the sun 2 minutes above the horizon line,
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: which would instead make her chart a day chart.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: But it's not.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Not this one, at least.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: This is a very technical way of looking at things.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: And you may like doing it that way.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: There's also a more metaphorical or symbolic way of looking at it, though.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: And that is to think about what it symbolizes or what it would symbolize to have
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: her son rising at the time of her birth.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: She was born, again, if this chart is accurate, she was born at pretty much the exact moment of sunrise.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: The sun is your identity in astrology.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: So this is someone whose sun, whose identity was rising.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: And the sun was headed for daytime.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Nighttime was complete.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: That journey was done.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: And what lied ahead was a new day and many hours of daylight.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: So I suspect some astrologers,
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: at least,
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: could interpret this as a day chart because that's the overall direction the sun
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: was moving in.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Daytime was where the sun was headed.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: So you could certainly make an argument,
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: I think,
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: that her chart may in fact function more like a day chart.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: And having a day chart would make sense for her,
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I think,
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: at least from an outsider's point of view,
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: because she's a very public figure.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: And she's been a pretty visible public figure throughout her life.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Her personal life has been in the spotlight a lot.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Having a sun conjunct the ascendant, by the way, is a pretty good position for fame.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: There's a very strong potential for fame with that placement.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Again, it's symbolic of your identity rising and being extremely visible to the world.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: And the conjunction is just so tight with this one.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: She's also got Mercury conjunct there too.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: That's about communication or even more specifically a person's literal voice.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: And of course, she's a singer.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Just looking at her whole chart, there are all kinds of other things.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: She was born to be famous and she was born to have this life that she has.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: But I digress.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Let's not get off topic.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: If you have this going on in your chart with one of these angles and you're not
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: sure which direction to go,
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: you could either look at the exact minutes of the sun versus the exact minutes of
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: the ascendant or descendant line,
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: or you could consider where the sun was actually headed.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Was it headed towards day on the ascendant or was it headed towards night at sunset?
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: That would probably make you very partnership-oriented, by the way, to have it on the descendant line.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now that you know whether you have a day chart or a night chart, why do we care about that?
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: What difference does it make what time of day you were born?
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: So this whole idea of diurnal versus nocturnal charts and determining which sect
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: your son is in is rooted in Hellenistic astrology or ancient Greek astrology.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: And the idea is that some planets function better during the day or have more pull
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: or weight or significance during the day,
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: while other planets function better and have more pull or weight or significance at night.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: And if you were born during the day,
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: there are going to be planets that can function better and work toward your advantage,
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: where some
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: If you were born at night, then other planets will be working more toward your advantage.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: And you are also going to have different planets creating challenges for you.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: So let's start with day charts.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: If you have a day chart, the sun is, of course, your ruling luminary.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: The sun is the ruler of the sky during the day.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: So you yourself are going to take on more of the sun's energy.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Day chart people are pulled even if they happen to be more introverted or appear
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: more introverted based on other stuff going on in the chart.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: They're going to feel pulled to participating in public life.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: These tend to be fairly goal-driven people with some kind of clear direction in
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: their lives who have a desire to achieve something.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: They're more achievement-oriented, and they may have at least some desire for public recognition.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Like the sun itself, these people want to shine.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: They are also driven by a sense of purpose in the world.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: They want their accomplishments or their achievements to be acknowledged or at least appreciated.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: And they want to ultimately contribute to something that they find important.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: and that also impacts or hopefully benefits other people.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: And their work is often visible to other people.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: These people like to develop a sense of authority with what they're doing.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: They also tend to be people who think more rationally rather than emotionally.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And of course,
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: this part can depend on what else is happening in the chart,
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: but that's going to be the general assumption here.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: So if you have a day chart, the sun's placement is extra important.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: And the sun's transits throughout your life are also important.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: They matter for everyone.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: But these folks might feel the sun's transit to an even greater extent.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: So when the sun is moving from sign to sign, you may feel that more.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Now, there are also other planets that are important in day charts.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: You might remember from other episodes that certain planets are referred to as benefics or malefics.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: That means they're generally considered friendly or unfriendly, right?
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Jupiter is considered the greater benefic, while Venus is considered the lesser benefic.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: They're both generally considered to be friendly planets that don't cause people too much trouble.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Of course, they still have shadow sides, but they're not all that challenging generally, okay?
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: Saturn,
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: on the other hand,
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: is considered to be the greater malefic,
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: while Mars is considered the lesser malefic.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: These are planets that can tend to challenge people more.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Doesn't mean that they're bad.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: The positive sides of these planets are great, and we need them.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: But their shadow sides can create challenges for us.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: If you have a day chart, the benefic that typically has more pull in your chart is Jupiter.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And that's because Jupiter is more powerful during the day.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: So day chart people are thought to be especially adept at reaping Jupiter's
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: benefits like optimism,
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: expansion,
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: abundance,
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: wisdom,
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: and external success.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: They're really good at wide scope thinking or big picture thinking.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: And they may do very well or find really smooth paths to go down in terms of like academia,
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: the law,
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: philosophy,
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: and all of these things that are related to Jupiter.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: So you'll want to take a very close look at where Jupiter is in your chart.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Its placement and the aspects it makes are going to be more strongly felt in your life.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: And also the transits Jupiter makes in real time are going to be something you feel more.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: And again, it's not that other people don't feel it.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: We're all impacted by Jupiter.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: It's just that day chart people, it's going to feel a little more profound and a little more impactful.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: one piece of good news for day chart people is that Saturn,
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: because it's the other planet that functions better during the day,
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Saturn is probably going to be less problematic and much more manageable for you
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: than it is for night chart people.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: And it has more potential to become something very constructive.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Day chart people are really able to tap into Saturn's better qualities,
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: its easier qualities like discipline,
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: persistence,
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: a strong work ethic,
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: maturity,
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: and a strong sense of responsibility,
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: and then use those qualities to their advantage.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: they're less likely to get pulled into using Saturn's shadow qualities,
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: like being overly stern or authoritarian or cold or overly calculated or even heartless.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: So looking at wherever Saturn is in your chart, pay attention to it.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: It could become a real source of strength for you, and it's meant to be something constructive for you.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean there aren't going to be challenges, though.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: You still have to put in the effort to make that happen.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Remember, Saturn is always, always about effort, but it can definitely help things along.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Day chart people are also less negatively impacted by difficult Saturn transits.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: Saturn retrogrades are probably not going to be as difficult for you, for example.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Your Saturn return,
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: meaning that Saturn has made one full revolution around the chart in the time since
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: your birth,
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: returning to its original position,
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: which happens around the age of 28.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And it brings up lessons about adulthood and responsibility and maturity.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: it's generally considered a really tough transit to go through,
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: that may not be as jolting for a day chart person.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: And the experience of it may not feel quite as tough.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Now, the challenge of having a day chart comes from Mars.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Mars is stronger at night.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: So if you were born during the day,
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: you could find yourself experiencing the shadow side of Mars a little more often.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Mars's energy may be a little more difficult for you to tap into,
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: and its transits,
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: particularly challenging transits,
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: may be harder for you to work through,
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: or they may bring tougher lessons sometimes.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Mars retrogrades,
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: for example,
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: they happen about every two years or so and last for a few months,
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: and we're actually approaching one soon later this year.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: These can be a little tougher for day chart people.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I don't say that to alarm anyone.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Having a day chart certainly doesn't mean that these next months are going to be
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: terrible or anything like that.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: But you could have,
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: a little trouble with things like assertiveness during this time or lower energy or
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: motivation or some feelings of anger that kind of bubble up and you're wondering
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: where they came from,
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: and those kinds of things.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Now, night charts are a whole other story.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Night charts have different planets that tend to work really well for them and
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: others that can present challenges.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: If you have a night chart, your ruling luminary is the moon, of course.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: The moon is the ruler of the night sky.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: If you think about the moon as having dominion over your inner life,
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: your inner world,
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: and your emotions and emotional landscape,
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: you can begin to dissect what having a night chart means.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: Night chart people are often emotionally oriented thinkers and feelers.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: How they feel about something might make much more sense to them than whatever the
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: conventional logic is or what people are saying the facts are,
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: okay?
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: They're very intuitive.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: And because the moon is also about nurturing,
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: they place a very high value on emotional connection with other people,
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: their personal life,
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: and how all of that feels and how it's going.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: is going to be much more front of mind on a regular basis than their outward goals
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: or achievements or public recognition of any kind.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: And having a sound and fulfilling personal life is going to be very important to
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: their overall sense of security.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: The benefic that tends to be most significant for you as a night chart person is Venus.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Venus as a planet is more powerful at night.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: And Venus's gifts,
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: because you are oriented towards your personal life,
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: her gifts tend to show up as having more abundance in your personal life.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Venus's gifts will likely show up as abundance in the form of beauty,
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Beauty in both yourself and your immediate surroundings, like your home, perhaps.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: And it will show up as abundance in relationships and an ability to find harmony in
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: your dealings with other people and the people close to you.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Love is a source of abundance for you.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Inner peace and contentment are sources of abundance for you.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: the ability to enjoy life and find pleasure in your life.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: Just enjoy the experience of being here.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: These are some of Venus's gifts to night chart people.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: And you also might be very creative.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: That's another source of abundance that Venus offers.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: You're also likely to find Mars to be more manageable, even though it's a malefic.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: In the same way that day chart people can use Saturn very constructively,
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: night chart people can use Mars very constructively.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: So you can really tap into Mars's better qualities,
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: like being assertive in a really healthy way,
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: because there's this line that can be crossed very easily with Mars between
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: assertiveness and aggression.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: And you can be really good at leaning towards assertion rather than either
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: aggression or the opposite,
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: which is passivity.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Mars can also be a really healthy source of vitality,
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: physical vitality,
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: energy and motivation and passion.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Mars rules passion in all its forms.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Mars is also about going after what you want.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: So you can use that to drive you forward and accomplish things.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: But for you,
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: these accomplishments are less about external validation and more about being
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: internally driven.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: It's about what you want and it's coming from inside of you.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Now, you can experience more difficulty with Saturn, and Saturn can present more of a challenge for you.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: It doesn't work quite as constructively in the same way that with a day chart person,
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: Mars doesn't work as constructively.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: So Saturn's lessons could feel a little tougher to navigate at times.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: You'll want to keep an eye out for that and develop more self-awareness around that.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: And you may be a little more sensitive on occasion to difficult Saturn transits.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: If transit Saturn is forming a square or an opposition with a natal planet,
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: for instance,
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: you might feel that more or have to spend some extra time addressing whatever that
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: brings up for you.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: And also your Saturn return or returns, because most people get more than one in a lifetime,
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: could feel a bit more significant to your overall development.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Now, I love the day chart, night chart concept.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: I think it gives us some really interesting information,
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: especially if we wanna follow transits and things like that.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: I do wanna emphasize though,
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: that like everything else in astrology,
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: it's just one thing,
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: one detail about your chart.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: It doesn't tell us everything.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: It's just, it's a layer.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: And there are always many layers.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: I also wanna point out
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: that you can have a very successful career or job or profession and you can
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: accomplish a lot with either a day chart or a night chart.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: If you look at the charts of very successful people,
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: you're going to find a lot of both because just about everyone has the potential to
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: be successful at what they do.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: The difference you'll find,
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: I think,
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: is what motivates them to do the thing they're doing and how they respond to the
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: success that they get.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: I mentioned last week that there are celebrities who are pretty famous,
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: but you don't actually know that much about them other than their public-facing
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: work themselves.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: because they like to stay out of the limelight.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you're familiar with the band Bon Jovi.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: I could be really dating myself here,
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: but Jon Bon Jovi,
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: whose natal chart I've linked in the show notes,
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: so if you want to see that,
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: just scroll down wherever you're listening and click the link.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: He has a night chart.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: And again,
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: we take this chart with a grain of salt because we can't know for sure if the
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: online sources are correct,
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: but assuming it is for a moment,
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: let's think about this.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: He has a fifth house son.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: That's all about self-expression and creativity.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: It's a great placement for the performing arts, for music, for creativity.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: It can very much be a house that propels one toward fame and success because of all of these reasons.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: It's the natural house of Leo, after all.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: But he's not really been in the mainstream tabloids all that much throughout his
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: life compared to a lot of other celebrities,
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: even back in his heyday.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: And unlike most other celebrities who go through a myriad of romantic entanglements
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: with other famous people and creating a media frenzy around that,
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: He has spent his whole life married to his high school sweetheart.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: And they still live in New Jersey, where they are from.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: Not Los Angeles, not New York City, where most other celebrities live.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And you can see that he has his moon, the ruler of night charts, in the fourth house.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: So he feels secure staying very close to his roots and home and family.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: And as a night chart person,
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: he's likely to place a much higher value on his emotional security,
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: his intimate relationships with loved ones,
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: than he is on his public persona or career accomplishments.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: He is very accomplished, but his chart would indicate that he's passionate.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: Remember, night chart, Mars, passion about his music because he's got that sun and night star's
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Venus and Mars in that fifth house position.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Mars is actually technically in the fourth, I think, but it's right on the cusp.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: So using Placidus, many people would move that on over to the fifth.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: He's got all of that in his house of self-expression and creativity and enjoyment.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: So he does all of that work for himself because it brings him joy.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: But he doesn't care, probably, all that much about where it goes from there.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: He likes his private world.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: You can contrast that to lots of other celebrities with date charts, like Madonna, possibly J-Lo, right?
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: Tons of celebrities have 10th house sons.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: That goes on and on.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: These might be the folks that are not only famous for their work,
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: but that tend to be in the public eye more outside of their professional contributions.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: And that could be because they don't work as hard to remain private because they're
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: so externally focused.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: And for some...
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: They don't mind the attention as much.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: It doesn't rattle them to get the attention.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: They may find it intrusive at times, the way we do fame in the society, right?
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: But it doesn't necessarily feel as jarring and they don't necessarily feel as exposed in the limelight.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: all of this thinking about day charts and night charts led me to wonder,
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: are more people born during the day or are more people born at night?
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: Is there any difference?
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: Or are new births just spread kind of evenly across the hours?
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: So I did a little bit of research on this.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: I did a bit of sleuthing.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: And here's what I found.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: In the United States, more babies are born during the day.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: And specifically, more babies are born on weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: and noon.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: That is mostly because of C-sections.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Because, of course, most C-sections, and especially planned C-sections, are scheduled during the day.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: And more specifically, they're scheduled during the morning hours.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: So that's going to lead naturally to more day charts.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: I find that really interesting because when you think about the culture here,
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: we as a people are so hyper-focused on ideas like success,
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: achievement,
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: being driven towards a goal,
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: Gaining authority in your career, productivity, and all of those related concepts, right?
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: This is capitalism.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: So I find it interesting,
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: energetically,
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: that we're actually orchestrating,
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: subconsciously,
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: of course,
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: because we're not doing it on purpose,
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: because most people don't even believe in astrology,
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: but we're unknowingly orchestrating
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: orchestrating births that reinforce cultural norms and values, especially pertaining to the workplace.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: But if you take C-sections out of the equation,
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: for example,
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: in the United States on Saturdays and Sundays,
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: because there were fewer planned C-sections performed then,
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: or if you look at home births with midwives,
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: or if you look back historically before medical interventions became more common,
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Or if you look at quite a lot of the rest of the world where medical interventions
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: are still less common than they are here,
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: then there are more night births than day births.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: According to a study done at City University in London,
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: for example,
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: less than a third of births took place between the hours of 9 a.m.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: and 5 p.m.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: There,
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: most spontaneous births,
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: meaning there was no medical intervention affecting the time of the birth,
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: took place between 1 a.m.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: and 7 a.m.,
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: I saw a similar study from the Netherlands where babies are also born mostly at night.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: And this leads me to wonder if having a society with primarily night chart people
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: can make it more likely that a culture or a society will become more communal,
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: or even that policies will be designed that support a more healthy personal life,
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: such as more vacation time or longer guaranteed or paid maternity leave and things
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: like that.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: Food for thought, I think.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: The final thing on this topic that I'd like to have you consider,
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: because I'm thinking it's going to come up for some of you,
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: is what it means or how it impacts you if your sun is not in the same sect as most
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: of your other planets.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: So for example,
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: if you have a day chart,
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: which might make you more externally focused,
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: but the majority of planets in your natal chart are actually below the horizon,
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: which could be an indicator of being more inwardly focused or focused on your
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: personal life.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Because last week we were talking about where the majority of your planets are, right?
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: Or if the opposite is true and you have a night chart,
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: but most of your planets are located in the top half of your chart.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Or maybe it's just that your sun and moon, two different parts of your identity, are in different sex.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: If you have something like that, you might wonder what that means.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: And I would say what I've learned and what I've experienced,
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: because my chart is kind of like this,
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: a little bit split like this,
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: that this can be an indicator that your desires and motivations could be a little
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: more divided.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: Like your direction in life isn't as clear sometimes.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: You might want contradictory things.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Like you might want to achieve some big things and you might be goal-driven.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: But in practice,
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: that's kind of difficult because you're also so pulled to work so much on your
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: personal life too and work on your relationships too.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: And doing both at the same time can feel really hard.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: So if that's you,
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: I would suggest that you think about where your goals and desires contradict each
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: other and then consider how to frame your perspective so that you're making room
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: for both without sacrificing one or the other.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like learning a lesson in how to balance your life.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: That's the lesson.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: All right, that wraps up today's episode.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: Please take a moment to make sure that you're following the show on whatever app you like to listen on.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: That will ensure that you never miss an episode and it will also ensure that more people can find it.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: Also, if you could take a moment to leave a review, that helps the show a great deal also.
- 36:25SPEAKER_00: That's all for now, everyone.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for being here today.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: Have a great week and I will see you next time.
