- 0:00Well, one thing that's going to
- 0:01definitely help visitation numbers, the
- 0:03Super Bowl's coming back market stuff is
- 0:06heating up. I'm not thrilled with this
- 0:07as I use uh some shake off.
- 0:12So, in the monkey see monkey do bucket.
- 0:16I I I'm surprised that they were able to
- 0:18put this together so quickly because
- 0:20last week it takes time to do these
- 0:22things.
- 0:26All
- 0:29right, guys. Today's lead story is kind
- 0:32of like a conglomeration of good news
- 0:34and bad news.
- 0:35>> Conglomeration.
- 0:36>> Yeah. It's like when you take more than
- 0:37one thing and put it together.
- 0:38>> I like when you use big words. Makes me
- 0:40think you're smart.
- 0:41>> I have time to plan this. That's That's
- 0:43how I can do it. Yeah. I like that.
- 0:45We're playing slots and I got to think
- 0:46of things off the cuff. I have to use
- 0:47the the small threeletter words. But
- 0:49>> Right. Right.
- 0:49>> It even says right here. Oh, it actually
- 0:51doesn't even say collaboration. Oh, no.
- 0:53I made that one up.
- 0:54>> Hey, listen.
- 0:56visitation finally grew for the first
- 0:57time 14 months. When we started doing
- 1:00this story,
- 1:02>> first episode, it's been a couple months
- 1:03now.
- 1:04>> It was like 11 months straight. I'm
- 1:06like, there's no way.
- 1:07>> But more people are coming to Vegas now
- 1:09because of our podcast.
- 1:10>> That's right.
- 1:12>> Yeah. I think that
- 1:13>> Can you count a half a person? It's like
- 1:15a half a person.
- 1:16>> At least one.
- 1:17>> Okay. At least one more person came
- 1:18here. So, yeah. So February numbers are
- 1:21in
- 1:22>> uh cuz it it always lags and so it's up
- 1:252.1% year-over-year. Again, uh the first
- 1:28time in 13 months we've had an uptick in
- 1:31visitation.
- 1:32>> Hotel occupancy hit 81%. That's really
- 1:35>> which is actually pretty good. You got
- 1:36to remember midweek from where it was
- 1:38and it's what's it's going up. Average
- 1:40revenue was up as well, 193 million. So
- 1:43all those things are good. Uh you know,
- 1:45it's showing that there's there's some
- 1:46rebound here. uh gaming overall one you
- 1:50know gaming take 1.23
- 1:53oh this is the actual revenue uh billion
- 1:55>> billion
- 1:56>> it's the 60th month in a row
- 1:58>> it's
- 1:59>> over a billion dollars
- 2:00>> yeah so it's insane you know that's
- 2:01stronger win jumped 44%
- 2:04>> uh
- 2:05>> I think that was all bluff
- 2:07>> yeah he's a little crazy this guy
- 2:10>> is crazy he is
- 2:11>> sports revenues down 14.4% 4%. I think
- 2:14that'll be up next month, right?
- 2:16>> Because of March Madness. Wait, wait for
- 2:17next month.
- 2:18>> You do have the Super Bowl in February,
- 2:20>> but you know, it's just one game.
- 2:22>> It's one game. Yeah. March Madness is
- 2:24much bigger.
- 2:24>> Yeah.
- 2:25>> So, we all expect Sports Book to be up.
- 2:27>> Um, yeah, it's it's interesting. So, the
- 2:30again the good news, bad news. Now,
- 2:31here's the here's the part that's like I
- 2:33was making a joke about foundations
- 2:34cracking or whatever last week,
- 2:36>> right?
- 2:36>> The airport traffic's still down, which
- 2:38has always been the bread winner here.
- 2:40Obviously like people coming in by car
- 2:42from SoCal, from Phoenix,
- 2:45>> you know, even up from like Utah,
- 2:46whatever.
- 2:47>> It's important. Don't get me wrong. It's
- 2:49important, but having these
- 2:51international visitors that is down
- 2:5310.9%.
- 2:54>> I think that's down a little bit from
- 2:56all this uh TSA garbage though, that
- 2:58people are just not wanting to fly right
- 3:01now cuz they've heard of how long the
- 3:03lines are, how bad TSA is right now.
- 3:05Hopefully that's
- 3:06>> remember these numbers are all in a
- 3:08rears. So it's uh
- 3:09>> it's this is February. I don't think
- 3:11that that was really an issue there. I
- 3:12think that it's just some like
- 3:13geopolitical tension stuff.
- 3:15>> A lot of people just don't want to go to
- 3:16the airport.
- 3:17>> Yeah.
- 3:17>> I mean you don't want to go
- 3:19>> private
- 3:20>> market
- 3:21>> private
- 3:23>> private planes. Is that down? I don't
- 3:25know. Is that down? I mean when we drive
- 3:27to the strip sometimes there is a
- 3:30parking area for private jets and I
- 3:32haven't noticed it overflowing like it
- 3:34does like during F1 and things like that
- 3:36but
- 3:36>> like Henderson
- 3:38Yeah, I'm not sure about the private
- 3:40jets.
- 3:40>> Yeah, they don't they don't track that.
- 3:42This is, you know, Harry Reed public
- 3:43information. The private jet stuff is
- 3:46mostly private. I mean, they they do
- 3:47they do track landings and stuff.
- 3:49>> Uh but the airport had 3.88 million
- 3:51passengers in February.
- 3:53>> Again, down three and a third 3%
- 3:55year-over-year. Domestic travel down
- 3:572.8%. Again, the international being
- 3:59down. I again I attribute this to just
- 4:01geopolitical tensions. There's
- 4:03>> conflict in the Middle East. Yeah,
- 4:05>> you have uh
- 4:07>> you know we try not to get political
- 4:08with this stuff. We're just trying to
- 4:10state the facts for for people coming
- 4:12internationally. Passport checks are
- 4:14more scrutiny, visas are more difficult
- 4:16to get, etc., etc. And people do notice
- 4:19even though we don't talk a lot of
- 4:20politics, we do notice these things that
- 4:21are going around around the world and
- 4:24>> it's definitely having an impact. So
- 4:26>> So you I do see this being an issue
- 4:28because now we're relying on
- 4:30>> motor vehicle traffic from SoCal, etc.
- 4:34to go up and gas is now up. So, and that
- 4:36just happened. So,
- 4:38>> again, these numbers are kind of 6 weeks
- 4:39behind. So, we'll see
- 4:41>> how that affects things. It's going to
- 4:43make a difference. Like people coming
- 4:45from SoCal when the gas was $4 a gallon
- 4:47there.
- 4:48>> Now, it's it's $6ish, probably even
- 4:50closer to seven cuz we uh I just went
- 4:52with your wife for the first time to get
- 4:54gas yesterday. I didn't cuz I have an
- 4:55electric car and uh so I don't even pay
- 4:57attention.
- 4:57>> Was it five?
- 4:58>> Well, at Costco was like 450, I think.
- 5:00>> Okay. Costco gas is usually at least 50
- 5:02cents cheaper than
- 5:03>> but it was it's 50 like on all the poles
- 5:05around town it's it's five or more and
- 5:07oh my lord if you drive a diesel right
- 5:08now
- 5:09>> I used to have the RV with the diesel
- 5:11man that used to be cheaper
- 5:13>> used to be a buck cheaper
- 5:14>> I don't understand why it became more I
- 5:16don't know they're not making as much I
- 5:18guess
- 5:18>> well one thing that's going to
- 5:19definitely help visitation numbers the
- 5:21Super Bowl's coming back
- 5:23>> yeah but not for a while
- 5:25>> it's 2020 couple years
- 5:27>> yeah we got a few years
- 5:28>> I mean it's the this year Super Bowl
- 5:30will 2027, right?
- 5:32>> So, it's 2 years past that.
- 5:34>> Maybe we'll go to that.
- 5:35>> I would love to go to the Super Bowl. I
- 5:37haven't been to one in in 20 years. I
- 5:39was in Miami.
- 5:40>> Uh we we had won a trip through we were
- 5:42doing on on my poker affiliate stuff
- 5:44back then.
- 5:45>> But it was just it was neat. We got, you
- 5:46know, just just the excitement and and
- 5:48back then it was like 900 bucks a ticket
- 5:50and now I think it's like $9,000 a
- 5:51ticket. Things have really gone out of
- 5:53control. But the Super Bowl I think was
- 5:55a huge success here. We went to media
- 5:57day. That was a ton of fun just to just
- 5:59to go see it. that was free. Went in
- 6:00there and okay,
- 6:01>> uh,
- 6:02>> you know, the the Chiefs and 49ers were
- 6:04on the field and going from station to
- 6:06station doing interviews and stuff and
- 6:08there was a, you know, really good buzz
- 6:10in the in the building. We just kind of
- 6:12went down and did that. But yeah, it
- 6:13would be neat to
- 6:14>> to to go to that. But it had a billion
- 6:16dollar economic impact on the city. Drew
- 6:19over 330,000 visitors.
- 6:21>> Wow. Yeah.
- 6:21>> Which is nuts. Now, I mean, I think that
- 6:23what they're doing is they're, let's
- 6:24just say a typical Super Bowl draws a
- 6:26quarter million visitors. So now you got
- 6:2770,000 fans filling seats on top of that
- 6:30is probably how they come up with that
- 6:31number.
- 6:32>> Like a day of really large numbers here
- 6:34for this podcast today.
- 6:36>> These are some big numbers.
- 6:38>> Billion dollar impact. That's that's a
- 6:40lot.
- 6:41>> So it's it's cool to see Vegas getting
- 6:42this stuff. We talked about this last
- 6:44week. Just
- 6:45>> Vegas has not lost its edge on live
- 6:47entertainment,
- 6:47>> right?
- 6:48>> Uh and if that starts to fade, then
- 6:50we're going to have some really big
- 6:51problems here. But hopefully that will
- 6:53continue to uh to
- 6:56>> So if you're in college right now and
- 6:58you're thinking about a job,
- 7:00>> come help Vegas.
- 7:02>> Come revitalize the Vegas
- 7:06industry. Gaming
- 7:09title. Yeah. You come out here.
- 7:10>> Come help. Come help.
- 7:12>> What do you do? I come help Vegas.
- 7:12>> I come help Vegas. Start a start a
- 7:15>> job of your own. Maybe maybe you can
- 7:18consult and help.
- 7:19>> I think that we help. We do. Yeah, we
- 7:21do. Absolutely.
- 7:22>> No one seems to thank us.
- 7:23>> You said we got at least one person to
- 7:25come to Vegas.
- 7:26>> Yeah.
- 7:26>> Because of this podcast. So, I think
- 7:28it's more.
- 7:29>> I mean, I know cuz we they've come to
- 7:31meet us.
- 7:31>> Our our friends just came in. There's
- 7:33three friends that came,
- 7:34>> right? That's three people through the
- 7:35airport helping out the statistics. He's
- 7:38sitting here watching us.
- 7:39>> Yeah. He's like, "Hey, what about me?"
- 7:40>> Yeah.
- 7:41>> I love the impact.
- 7:42>> All right. Well, switching gears, we
- 7:43have uh we've been putting things in
- 7:45categories now. So, we have operators,
- 7:46infrastructure, and mobility. So,
- 7:48Downtown Grand uh is now in receiverhip,
- 7:52which is a fancy word for bankruptcy.
- 7:54>> Oh, that's Yeah, that's not a that's not
- 7:56a that doesn't mean bankruptcy.
- 7:57Receiverhip.
- 7:58>> Yeah, they not not in my mind.
- 8:00>> They defaulted on their loan. That means
- 8:02>> and now receivership. Yeah, the bank has
- 8:04taken over and
- 8:05>> I would have not thought that that
- 8:07>> meant bankruptcy.
- 8:08>> Yeah, receiver.
- 8:09>> They just sent me a email yesterday.
- 8:11Downtown Grand
- 8:13>> Please come help us out of our
- 8:14>> trouble. It was like It was like $100
- 8:18for a room, a $50 food credit, no
- 8:23parking fees,
- 8:24>> no resort fee.
- 8:25>> Okay.
- 8:26>> And uh I think there was something about
- 8:28the pool included, too, for the downtown
- 8:31Grand.
- 8:31>> Okay.
- 8:32>> So, they must be just trying to get a
- 8:34last money grab before they actually
- 8:36file the paperwork. They had a uh $82.5
- 8:39million loan uh that has now swelled to
- 8:4190 million because they got interest
- 8:42compounding and they're not paying their
- 8:44bill. So a report uh appointed receivers
- 8:46is making are marketing the asset to 160
- 8:49potential buyers. So again it's a
- 8:50bankruptcy. They're trying to liquidate
- 8:51the the assets. It's kind of a
- 8:54>> I mean it's it's a default on a loan.
- 8:55It's not exactly bankruptcy because like
- 8:57that's technically a different term but
- 8:59you know it's a fancy way or a different
- 9:01way they're bankrupt. They can't pay
- 9:02their bills and now they're trying to
- 9:04find people to bail them out. We're
- 9:05going to sell it.
- 9:06>> Okay.
- 9:06>> Uh for for scraps, you know, hopefully
- 9:08they can recover, let's say, 60 million
- 9:09or 50 million of their money. And
- 9:10>> and what if we could buy it
- 9:12>> and then we could film whatever we
- 9:14wanted in there. Oh, yeah.
- 9:15>> We would have no restrictions.
- 9:17>> It'd be like uh rounders in my in my
- 9:20casino. I can film whatever we want.
- 9:22>> Whatever I want. Okay.
- 9:24>> Uh the prediction market stuff is
- 9:26heating up. I'm not thrilled with this
- 9:28cuz I use Koshi all the time,
- 9:30>> right? Uh I understand why the two
- 9:35senators here uh Cortez Masto and Rosen
- 9:38are co-sponsoring a federal bill now.
- 9:40>> Yeah.
- 9:41>> Be even more upset if they passes a
- 9:42federal level.
- 9:43>> I get it. Nevada, you know, their their
- 9:46>> strength is is the sports book. I mean,
- 9:48obviously now 30 whatever other states
- 9:50have sports books, so it's not like it
- 9:52once was where they have a show called
- 9:53over the country,
- 9:54>> but what they do not want is to lose the
- 9:56Nevada,
- 9:57>> right,
- 9:57>> revenue. Well, it used to just be uh
- 10:00>> the Guido down at the corner that you'd
- 10:03>> you'd say, "Hey, I want the the Patriots
- 10:05this weekend and he'd in his little book
- 10:08he know."
- 10:09>> Well, that's a lot bigger system now
- 10:11that they have
- 10:13>> and it's stealing a lot of Vegas money.
- 10:15>> It's a lot.
- 10:16>> It is. It is. Absolutely. I mean, you
- 10:18look at the uh
- 10:18>> stealing
- 10:19>> the uh what was it the you know, earlier
- 10:21here the the the sports book handle
- 10:24>> uh you know, it's still hundreds of
- 10:25millions of dollars a month. Yeah. And
- 10:28they don't want that to, you know, get
- 10:29eaten up because like that's taxed and
- 10:31goes to the state of Nevada,
- 10:32>> right?
- 10:33>> You know, Cali is a public, you know, a
- 10:35registered company and they're doing
- 10:36things by the book illegally paying
- 10:38taxes, but that's not helping Nevada.
- 10:40>> Not the same.
- 10:40>> And it hurts
- 10:43seizures. It help hurts MGM. It hurts
- 10:45the people that really are entrenched
- 10:47with lobbying here. And so,
- 10:49>> you know, they do use some of that money
- 10:51for Nevada roads,
- 10:53schools, things like that that are kind
- 10:56of important here in Las Vegas. And
- 10:59>> I don't know. I mean, it makes sense. I
- 11:01understand it. But it's it's tough that
- 11:03if you were the one with the business
- 11:05that they just kind of shut you down.
- 11:07>> I'm pretty sure the money goes towards
- 11:08cones.
- 11:09>> Cones. Yeah. The state flower. Yeah.
- 11:11>> It's a state flower.
- 11:12>> Yeah.
- 11:12>> They're orange cones. They're
- 11:13everywhere.
- 11:14>> No one's ever working on the road. They
- 11:15just They put the cones out. They're
- 11:16everywhere
- 11:17>> in our neighborhood right now. They're
- 11:18they're doing like they report a curb
- 11:21>> and there's two turn lanes. It's a
- 11:23really important
- 11:24>> busy intersection.
- 11:25>> One of the the lanes has been closed for
- 11:27weeks.
- 11:27>> Yeah. And they're not doing anything.
- 11:29>> Nothing. You never you don't ever see
- 11:30anybody there.
- 11:31>> No, never. It doesn't make sense.
- 11:33>> The cones are paid for.
- 11:34>> They're preparing. They're preparing
- 11:36>> for when they will work on it.
- 11:37>> The temporary injunction still in in in
- 11:40force. We talked about that last week.
- 11:41Uh there is a pending hearing on April
- 11:433rd.
- 11:44We'll see where things go. I I'm in
- 11:47favor of Koshi staying in the sports
- 11:49market here because their lines are
- 11:51better and more broken,
- 11:52>> right?
- 11:52>> Than, you know, because you think about
- 11:54>> a bookie, you know, a sports book here,
- 11:57>> they have
- 11:58>> all this money behind them. The smartest
- 11:59people are setting the line.
- 12:01>> The line gets set when it opens usually
- 12:03pretty dead on and then
- 12:05>> the the line will move one way or the
- 12:07other based on what side the money's
- 12:08coming.
- 12:08>> All they're trying to do is make 10%
- 12:10>> trying to equalize. So is that like it's
- 12:13exactly equalize if there's money here
- 12:16>> someone wants to bet then it's going to
- 12:17force it the other way and it's going to
- 12:19constantly eb and flow
- 12:21>> and it becomes pure
- 12:22>> what people are betting right
- 12:24>> but there are a lot of emotions with
- 12:26individuals and so those lines can be
- 12:28can be broken you can also hedge
- 12:30>> cowi versus sports books so I was
- 12:33enjoying those opportunities and then
- 12:35they went away
- 12:36>> so
- 12:37>> we'll see what happens whenever I figure
- 12:38out a way to make money they always
- 12:39figure out a way to stop
- 12:41freaking people, I tell you.
- 12:42>> I know.
- 12:43>> Uh I think that this is an interesting
- 12:45and exciting story as well. Zuk, which
- 12:48is one of the autonomous vehicle
- 12:50services here in Vegas, they are now
- 12:52doubling their zone,
- 12:53>> doubling.
- 12:54>> So, it's covering like all the strip
- 12:55now, right?
- 12:56>> The Sphere, T-Mobile, and almost all
- 12:59major resorts.
- 13:00>> We just talked about this the other
- 13:01night because we went to the Sphere and
- 13:03I was like, man, it'd be so much better
- 13:04if you didn't have to walk all the way
- 13:06from the Spear to Las Vegas Boulevard to
- 13:08get back into the Palazzo. It's such a
- 13:10pain when they close that corridor.
- 13:12>> Yeah.
- 13:13>> Pick up a zoot. Pick up a zoots and take
- 13:15it
- 13:16>> right.
- 13:16>> Have it drop you off at when you could
- 13:19just cross the street right there
- 13:21>> or and or you could just have it take
- 13:22you to Plaza.
- 13:23>> And the zoo's not going to complain. It
- 13:24just took you no
- 13:25>> 3/10en of a mile.
- 13:28>> It's not going to tell you, hey, you're
- 13:29lazy. I'm not taking you three miles.
- 13:30>> I think it's a little more than 310.
- 13:31>> Yeah. A regular cab driver would be all
- 13:33mad at you.
- 13:33>> Yeah. Exactly. They don't they don't do
- 13:35it. I've had it happen. Yeah. I asked
- 13:37the cab driver to drive me from
- 13:38Tropicana to MGM one time cuz it was
- 13:40raining. He said no.
- 13:42>> He wouldn't do it. Told him I give him
- 13:44$20.
- 13:44>> Which still go?
- 13:45>> Said, "Don't even turn the meter on.
- 13:46I'll give you $20 cash right now." He
- 13:47goes, "Nope."
- 13:48>> It's weird.
- 13:49>> It's actually illegal.
- 13:50>> It's illegal for them to do that
- 13:52>> to tell you no.
- 13:52>> To turn down the fair,
- 13:53>> right?
- 13:54>> Yeah. And he did it.
- 13:55>> They don't like tall people.
- 13:56>> I don't know. He just wasn't a nice guy.
- 13:58>> Yeah.
- 13:58>> Like it's raining. I don't want to walk
- 13:59in the rain. He didn't care.
- 14:00>> He didn't care. He's like, "I don't want
- 14:01to drive in the rain."
- 14:02>> Yeah. So uh I think it's interesting
- 14:05from a perspective of just from a
- 14:06technology perspective. You have AI,
- 14:08robotics, auton autonomous stuff coming
- 14:12>> 350,000 passengers that's moving through
- 14:14the city
- 14:15>> uh right now. I mean that's just going
- 14:17to now probably double or more. You got
- 14:19now especially when it's going to be at
- 14:20venues like T-Mobile and Sphere when
- 14:22there's like a big influx of people
- 14:23coming out. Uh the thing that is really
- 14:25interesting is coming up is the Tesla
- 14:27loop and all of a sudden
- 14:38over Tesla like come in and swoop that
- 14:41away to be like bang bang bang.
- 14:42>> So all these people are going to lose
- 14:43jobs.
- 14:44>> So there's they're going to put a lot of
- 14:46people out of work.
- 14:48>> There's uh some shakeup down
- 14:51>> Cortez. uh Adam Weissberg who is now the
- 14:54VP and GM. Uh I just wanted to mention
- 14:57this story. He was one of the very first
- 14:59people that we ever reached out to
- 15:02>> in this industry. We uh you know had
- 15:04seen Vegas Matt and and Bluff and all
- 15:07these guys that are constantly recording
- 15:08at Elcortez and this is before we even
- 15:12>> really even started. You we're just like
- 15:13oh wow like this is the place to be.
- 15:14This is the place.
- 15:15>> And uh you we thought we would do more
- 15:17way more table games way back then.
- 15:20>> And eventually Green Valley Ranch and
- 15:21Station Casinos gave us permission to to
- 15:24record here. And we had our stint of
- 15:26doing a bunch of table game stuff, but
- 15:27we we realized that that slots is really
- 15:29our bread and butter. So we mostly film
- 15:31slots, right?
- 15:32>> And and the the rules for filming slots
- 15:33are much more relaxed. But I I reached
- 15:35out to Adam
- 15:36>> and he got right back to me.
- 15:37>> Right back to you
- 15:38>> through through LinkedIn and uh he said,
- 15:40"Sorry, son.
- 15:41>> Let us know. No, you know, you're
- 15:43>> you're a little bit too small right now.
- 15:44>> So, but he was very professional and
- 15:46sweet about it and and you know, and it
- 15:48makes sense cuz he was just like, we
- 15:49have and it just goes to show you how
- 15:51well uh
- 15:53>> or good of a job that he had done
- 15:54promoting that casino and it funded this
- 15:57awesome expansion and remodel there.
- 15:58>> Got hundreds of people that want to come
- 16:00and play there and record. He's like, I
- 16:02just can't do it.
- 16:03>> You got to have 50,000 subscribers to
- 16:05even be considered at Elcortez.
- 16:08>> I'm going to message him soon.
- 16:10>> Yeah. Well, we're almost there. We got
- 16:12the 50,000. Tell them we don't need to
- 16:14record table games anymore cuz we don't
- 16:15do that. But I just want to let you know
- 16:16we got the 50,000 and I appreciate
- 16:18>> and then are you just going to hang up
- 16:19on them or
- 16:19>> No, not one bit. I actually I appreciate
- 16:21I mean he was super professional. I
- 16:23wanted to make sure he really couldn't
- 16:24have been I mean just because you got an
- 16:25answer that you didn't want. Doesn't
- 16:27mean the person's not
- 16:28>> That's what I'm saying. I'm making sure
- 16:29that you're not bitter.
- 16:30>> No, it wasn't bitter at all.
- 16:31>> Good. I'm glad.
- 16:32>> Uh if he was just, you know, if he was
- 16:34rude about it, which he was not.
- 16:36>> He was very
- 16:37>> professional. Professional. He's just
- 16:39like we have thousands of people Well, I
- 16:41said hundreds. You just said thousands.
- 16:43>> Well, no, he had actually said
- 16:44thousands.
- 16:44>> Oh, he said thousands.
- 16:45>> Yeah. He's like, "We got thousands of
- 16:46people that want to come to court here.
- 16:48>> You know, we're a relatively small
- 16:49casino. There's procedures,
- 16:52>> etc. Like, we've had to set the bar at
- 16:5450,000
- 16:55>> and now it might be higher.
- 16:56>> It might be.
- 16:57>> It might be. Maybe we should wait till
- 16:58we get to 75."
- 16:59>> Oh, yeah. Anyway, congratulations, Adam.
- 17:01>> Yes, that's awesome.
- 17:02>> Like, there lots of people say really
- 17:04good things about you in this industry.
- 17:05So,
- 17:06>> absolutely.
- 17:06>> We wish you the best. So, in the monkey
- 17:09see monkey do bucket segment.
- 17:11>> I I I I'm surprised that they were able
- 17:13to put this together so quickly because
- 17:15last week
- 17:17>> takes time to do these things.
- 17:18>> We're trying to get some deal casino
- 17:21that we're heading to like and just
- 17:23getting one like promotion out of the
- 17:24kiosk seemingly being
- 17:26>> and they put this whole thing together
- 17:27this whole thing together like oh my god
- 17:29like MGM is
- 17:30>> maybe they've been working on it. Maybe
- 17:31they heard about the MGM stuff. I see.
- 17:33And so they've in the back they've been
- 17:35they've been hearing that okay we got to
- 17:37get this stuff going.
- 17:38>> So Caesar's now released a all-inclusive
- 17:40summer package right
- 17:41>> at Harris Link and Flamingo. So at MGM
- 17:44it was Excalibur and Luxor. So
- 17:48>> mimicking their lower
- 17:48>> New York New York also
- 17:50>> well New York New York New York I
- 17:50believe was only for
- 17:52>> some shows the roller coaster
- 17:54>> it was part of the of the all-inclusive
- 17:56>> but it's not a part of the
- 17:58>> the cost of the rooms. Right.
- 17:59>> Right. So like I think you
- 18:00>> Yeah. You could take advantage of a few
- 18:01things.
- 18:02>> Right. So, they had the roller coaster,
- 18:03they had restaurants, they had a couple
- 18:04shows there, right?
- 18:05>> Uh they're like basically you can come
- 18:07here, but you can't sleep here.
- 18:08>> You can't sleep here. We don't really
- 18:09>> Our rooms are too are $10 more than the
- 18:12room
- 18:12>> because we're worried if you if you
- 18:13sleep here, then you're you're too close
- 18:15and gamble
- 18:16>> to park MGM in Arya. We don't want you,
- 18:18you know, you know, so like if you if
- 18:19you stay over at Luxto and you end up in
- 18:23New York, New York, you're going to come
- 18:24back.
- 18:24>> You'll come back. Yeah.
- 18:25>> You know, so that area, I'm just
- 18:26kidding.
- 18:27>> Uh their bundle uh their
- 18:32put publishing a window April through
- 18:33August the A month starting at 200 bucks
- 18:35a night if you come here solo. I
- 18:36actually like some of these tweaks
- 18:38because Yeah, because the other one was
- 18:39double occupancy. Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:41>> Uh if you want to uh includes the resort
- 18:43fees and all the stuff, meals,
- 18:44>> two meals.
- 18:45>> Yeah.
- 18:45>> The other one was three meals.
- 18:47>> Bottomless well drinks. That's the part
- 18:48that uh
- 18:50>> I'm surprised.
- 18:52>> But well, just cuz
- 18:54>> the the MGM one was one drink per meal.
- 18:56>> Oh, one drink per bottleless. Well,
- 18:58yeah. If it's if it's all-inclusive, it
- 19:00should be bottomless. We don't go to
- 19:02Mexico.
- 19:03>> Makes this makes it a true
- 19:04>> all-inclusive thing. If if this is
- 19:06actually accurate and they don't cut you
- 19:07off and there's no aster, right?
- 19:09>> Uh if this just came out, like literally
- 19:11uh late last night as I was putting this
- 19:13together, I was like, "Oh man, like
- 19:14let's get this in here." They're also
- 19:15going to give you 20% off the link
- 19:16cabanas,
- 19:18>> uh free high roller tickets, and then if
- 19:20you want to bring an extra person, it's
- 19:21an extra $100 a night. So if you have a
- 19:23double occupancy, it works out to 150
- 19:25bucks per person per night. Uh, and it
- 19:28also looks like you can book it for more
- 19:30than two nights where MGM was had some
- 19:32other weird things for a week.
- 19:33>> Um,
- 19:34>> so it's like kind of a direct response
- 19:36to the Vegas is too expensive,
- 19:38>> right?
- 19:39>> Dialogue that's been going on around
- 19:40town.
- 19:41>> Did this one not have Sunday through
- 19:42Thursday? Is that all seven days a week?
- 19:45>> Again, that's how I'm reading.
- 19:46>> They just announced it.
- 19:48>> And I I have a feeling
- 19:50>> cuz it says starts. I have a feeling
- 19:51it's just like MGM where it's showing
- 19:54you the lowest rate for like the one
- 19:56Wednesday in August when it's 120
- 19:58degrees and no one wants to be here and
- 20:00then the yellows are 250 or 300 or
- 20:02something, right? Yeah.
- 20:03>> So, we might have more on this next
- 20:05week.
- 20:05>> Resorts World, that's how they did it.
- 20:07>> Yes.
- 20:07>> Yeah. So,
- 20:08>> except it's 450 and I think
- 20:09>> it's a little bit more expensive.
- 20:10Resorts World
- 20:12>> really nice property. Very nice
- 20:13property. Uh so in addition to the cowi
- 20:16and prediction markets getting pressure
- 20:18from Nevada lawmakers uh there's also a
- 20:21crackdown on sweep states casinos which
- 20:23seems to be happening uh in other places
- 20:26around the country. I've heard that uh
- 20:28California is now putting pressure on
- 20:30this and trying to shut it down.
- 20:31>> Uh it wasn't really relevant to us until
- 20:33now all of a sudden that it is. of
- 20:34course they keep on trying to make us
- 20:36not be able to make money course
- 20:37>> because there's uh some advertising and
- 20:39stuff that we we're looking at doing
- 20:41with some of these sweeps casinos and
- 20:42then of course as soon as we get a deal
- 20:44in place they're going to get rid of
- 20:45California which is the biggest state
- 20:47>> potentially Nevada which is where we
- 20:48live so we'd have to go someplace else
- 20:50to demo it which would be really
- 20:51annoying
- 20:52>> um the uh looks like New York Montana is
- 20:55also on this bandwagon really
- 20:58>> so it could be one of these things where
- 20:59in 30 states it's allowed in 20 it isn't
- 21:01just similar to sports books and other
- 21:04So, we'll see how things go here, but
- 21:06this is pretty high cuz sweep stakes
- 21:08casinos uh have been pretty prevalent.
- 21:11>> Yeah.
- 21:11>> You know what? At the end of the day,
- 21:14it's weird. It's a weird tug of war
- 21:16because in general, I just want people
- 21:17to be able to do what they want to do.
- 21:18You're an adult.
- 21:19>> Leave them alone.
- 21:20>> But at the same time, this is an obvious
- 21:22loophole.
- 21:23>> Yeah.
- 21:23>> You know, it's just such ridiculous.
- 21:24It's like if you're you're not you're
- 21:26not gambling cash. You're gambling
- 21:28coins. How do you get the coins? You buy
- 21:29them with cash.
- 21:30>> You buy them with cash. Yeah. Exactly.
- 21:32>> It's weird. I mean, it's a loophole.
- 21:34>> So, anyway, we'll see how this story uh
- 21:36shapes up. It it hasn't uh taken effect
- 21:39yet, but I I do think
- 21:41>> it's coming. Just again,
- 21:42>> yeah, as as states have their own
- 21:44casinos and gambling products
- 21:47>> that they get full taxes and revenue on,
- 21:49>> right,
- 21:50>> there's going to be way more of like
- 21:52pushing back on these things where they
- 21:53don't get to take a piece of the pie.
- 21:54>> Everyone wants their bigger piece,
- 21:56>> right? So, Koshi, you know, Poly Market,
- 21:59Sweeps, Casinos, etc., right?
- 22:01>> Uh, you know, are going to I think are
- 22:03going to run into some roadblocks from
- 22:04that,
- 22:05>> you know, especially if it's strawberry
- 22:06pie.
- 22:08>> Everyone wants a bigger piece of the
- 22:09strawberry pie.
- 22:10>> Is that that's all gone now, right?
- 22:12>> Oh, it's Well, there might be. Is there
- 22:14a Marie Calendarer still over on the
- 22:16other side of town?
- 22:17>> I think there might be one left inside
- 22:19>> inside thing, but Marie Collander
- 22:22strawberry pie
- 22:23>> when they're available.
- 22:24>> Funny story. I mean, not I don't know we
- 22:26really tell stories on the podcast, but
- 22:28we'll take a break to tell a story.
- 22:29>> I ate a whole strawberry pie.
- 22:30>> Yeah. Well, no, that's not true. I had a
- 22:31slice.
- 22:32>> You had one slice,
- 22:33>> right? And then I went to get seconds.
- 22:34He's like, "You can
- 22:35>> you can stay in your seat cuz I've
- 22:37already finished."
- 22:38>> I was like, "This I'm going to go get
- 22:38another piece of pie." Like,
- 22:40>> smile. I smirked.
- 22:42>> You ate the entire rest of the pie.
- 22:43>> I ate three quarters of a pie.
- 22:45>> What the heck?
- 22:45>> It was delicious.
- 22:46>> If you ever can get a Marie Collers pie,
- 22:48I highly recommend it.
- 22:49>> Oh, man.
- 22:50>> All right. So, uh, penny rounding.
- 22:53>> But it's official now. So, uh, there's
- 22:57like an official ruling and and
- 22:58everything everything here is so
- 22:59regulated, right? There's a gaming
- 23:01control board and you know, they
- 23:03scrutinize everything and so a casino
- 23:05can't just decide I'm going to keep two
- 23:07cents,
- 23:08>> which I'm surprised that they haven't
- 23:09done that with the tickets yet. I mean,
- 23:11they make you go to the cashier's cage
- 23:12if you have change on your ticket,
- 23:14except for Ellis.
- 23:16change still comes out of the machine.
- 23:18But
- 23:20>> I don't I'm surprised that they haven't
- 23:21just said instead of do you want a
- 23:23donation, it just says your change is
- 23:26going towards donation. I'm surprised
- 23:28they haven't done that yet.
- 23:29>> Or do would you like to have your change
- 23:31or would you rather donate it at least
- 23:33give you the option to get the darn
- 23:34change?
- 23:34>> Now it doesn't even give it to you. You
- 23:35got to go to the cashier, wait in line
- 23:37for 20 cents or whatever. So
- 23:39>> it's annoying. Usually stack of tickets
- 23:41this tall.
- 23:42>> Usually I print the ticket. I never do
- 23:43the donation. I print the ticket and
- 23:45then the closest person to the machine,
- 23:47I put it in their machine, right?
- 23:48>> That's what I do.
- 23:50>> Yeah. Okay. Start doing that. One day
- 23:52we'll win a million dollars off our
- 23:55>> What a video that would be.
- 23:56>> That would be pretty cool. Anyway, so
- 23:57the rule basically is that the casino
- 23:59has to have a policy,
- 24:00>> whatever the policy is, and they have to
- 24:03stick with it. It has to be consistent
- 24:04for everybody. Okay. So, basically what
- 24:05most people in town are doing, if it's
- 24:07like uh, you know, 72 cents, you're
- 24:09going to get 70. If it's 74 cents,
- 24:12you're going to get 75. Okay,
- 24:14>> they're going to round up or down. Uh,
- 24:16you know, it's not really that big of a
- 24:17deal. There's a lot of uh chatter now
- 24:22penny machines going away.
- 24:23>> I don't see that happening. Again, like
- 24:25it's it says penny denomination.
- 24:27>> Yeah.
- 24:28>> Uh
- 24:29bet, right? You can't play one penny.
- 24:31>> Now, there are three real penny games
- 24:32out there. Uh there's a joke that we
- 24:34talk about this 9-cent game here that we
- 24:36play
- 24:37>> uh as a joke every now and then. I try
- 24:39not to to do it much anymore cuz it was
- 24:41just a painful segment that we did one
- 24:43time.
- 24:43>> We had a huge win like $9.40,
- 24:46>> right? We should have been betting $9.
- 24:47We would have $9,000 win.
- 24:49>> That would have been insane.
- 24:50>> At any rate, so just keep a lookout for
- 24:52that if you're if you're in Vegas or
- 24:53coming to Vegas.
- 24:54>> Uh no more pennies. A lot of casinos.
- 24:57They're going to round up or down.
- 24:58>> I don't think it's going to be that big
- 24:59of a deal.
- 25:00>> It's really not. But
- 25:01>> it's uh
- 25:02>> I don't know. It just kind of goes to
- 25:03show you that I think the penny finally
- 25:05is slowly.
- 25:06>> It cost more to make a penny than it's
- 25:08worth. doesn't make sense to have
- 25:09pennies anymore. Like I can't think of
- 25:10any justification for a penny in society
- 25:13anymore.
- 25:13>> No, I can't do that.
- 25:14>> It just just everything gets rounded to
- 25:16I mean there's
- 25:17>> there's nothing that you buy for a
- 25:19penny. There's nothing that's like 9
- 25:20cents or 10, you know,
- 25:22>> you buy something for 99 cents, it could
- 25:23be a dollar. It doesn't have to be
- 25:24>> back in the 50s you could go to the
- 25:27>> corner store and get a piece of gum for
- 25:29a penny.
- 25:30>> So it made sense. You can't you can't do
- 25:32that now.
- 25:32>> Did you know that there was
- 25:33>> even a half penny? Yeah, I've seen one
- 25:36in the 1800s. I have I have one.
- 25:38>> Oh, do you really?
- 25:38>> Yeah. I used to. I don't know where it
- 25:39is anymore. Who knows where stuff goes
- 25:41when you move all the time. So,
- 25:42>> Right. Yeah.
- 25:43>> That's about it.
- 25:45>> You don't like apple pie?
- 25:47>> I do like apple pie, but I like
- 25:48strawberry pie the best. Marie
- 25:50Colanders, folks, I think there's one
- 25:51left in Vegas. Go visit Marie Collers.
- 25:53Get us But it's seasonal.
- 25:55>> It is seasonal.
- 25:55>> Yeah. And they I mean they use real
- 25:56whole
- 25:58I'm getting myself hungry. We got to go.
- 26:00All right.
- 26:00>> We'll see youall next week. Thanks for
- 26:02watching. Bye, everybody. Byrons.
