- 0:00Hey, it's Corey Glover from Living Color. We are on tour with Extreme

- 0:10today, my friend. How are you doing? Oh? Very well?
- 0:14Thank you so good good, very good good dear. Here's let's you say.
- 0:19Living Color hit Australia with Extreme for a run of show starting in Longbood
- 0:23on September fourth, before hit in Perth and Adelaide and then back to Melbourne
- 0:27and Sydney and finishing in Brisbane on September thirty eight. So she's getting cos
- 0:32you're packard ready to go. Yeah, well, we're already on the road.
- 0:37We us an extremer on the road in North America right now during parts
- 0:42of the Northeast right now and hitting west right But there's a decent run of
- 0:48shows for you too, bro, Like you're a long way from home with
- 0:50a decent run of show. So how do you prepare eventually and physically for
- 0:54a choll like this? Will? You just have to be You just have
- 1:00to know you're not going home, you know, you have to feel aware
- 1:04that you know you're gonna be away from home for a long time, and
- 1:11you have to get your family situation right. You have to get your mind
- 1:18right and know that you're gonna be out here, just out here, sleeping
- 1:23on a bus and you're lost out of here. Very a couple of years
- 1:30ago might So what's change with anything? Nothing really has changed. It's all
- 1:37the same, folks, it's all the same, the same music. We're
- 1:40gonna we're going to try and you know, we have a good time when
- 1:42we come to Australia. We always have a good time there. We always
- 1:46have a good time on stage with each other. So you can expect to
- 1:49have a good time and both bands are on point and it's gonna be a
- 1:55really good time. So what can we expect from you sides? You saw
- 1:59them? I'm pretty sure if mamby last time you're out you played the whole
- 2:01album anniversary chow yes. So what's what do we expect this son? Well,
- 2:09it depends on what's going on when we get there, you know.
- 2:15As like you said, we have a catalog of a lot of songs that
- 2:21we are going to put into the hopper and see what comes out. And
- 2:25plus we're gonna try to work in some new, newer things and stuff from
- 2:30newer albums. Stuff some maybe even some maybe even some new songs that we're
- 2:37like sort of road testing to see what happens. And a last a much
- 2:42you guys, they've wielded an awesome drum solo in the darky actlowsticks structure his
- 2:46drumsticks and it looks fantastic, Like have you got anything special? Any surprises
- 2:52like that lined up this sn if if it was a surprise, you wouldn't
- 2:55you wouldn't know about it now. Very good answer And as we said earlier
- 3:05on, are you going to be toured with extreme? Like what? Why
- 3:07do YouTube bands make good touring partners? Do you think? You know?
- 3:12I think we have. We share the same sort of musical uh ethos that
- 3:16that you know it's and the way it's set up is very similar. It's
- 3:22based drum, guitars and vocals. We're both doing that. Both amazing guitar
- 3:28players you know, doing their things and a really good and a really good
- 3:32band and it just seems to work really really well thus far. So if
- 3:37you go back in history a little bit with living Tali made like Burdon started
- 3:40the band back in nineteen eighty four, with you joining two years later,
- 3:44Like when do you join. What did you bring to the band like this
- 3:46was it? Did you have the same visions as Burdon back then? I
- 3:52think yeah. I think initially we we all wanted to. You know,
- 3:57we're all coming from particular sort of i uh, ideological sort of bent musically,
- 4:06and we're really trying to deal with the emotional impact of being where we
- 4:14were, how we were at that particular point in time, you know,
- 4:18to be sort of outsiders and sort of uh sort of add living outside the
- 4:26box and trying to throw rocks at the box and trying to get in the
- 4:30box and then trying to get out of the box. It's all all weird
- 4:33metaphors that we sort of all agreed on. Any of the chimes A band,
- 4:40like the music industry, I guess in the music scene has undergone a
- 4:43lot of changes. Mate, like I Live in Color the sort of band
- 4:46who tried to adapt and change with the chimes or any more stuck to your
- 4:49own path. I think we can. You know, as time goes,
- 4:55we evolve and things do evolve. We and if our records or any evidence
- 5:04of what we where we are Vivid is not the same as Kaleidoscope is not
- 5:10the same as staining is not the same as cheering the doorway. So none
- 5:16of our records sort of truck on our past, so we try to keep
- 5:24evolving. And you mentioned Vivid like that was your dayoo author came out in
- 5:29ninety eighty eight, and it's fair to say that changed the landscape of music
- 5:32forever, mate, Like when do you guys finish recording that? Or what
- 5:35are you in the process recording that? Like did you have any eighth way
- 5:38that there was going to be such a game changer? We knew if we
- 5:43stuck to our guns and we just kept hacking away and playing our our dynamic
- 5:51musically was enough to was very compelling that people when when we played people listened,
- 5:58and that we thought that if we kept doing that and maybe enough people
- 6:01would hear us. It wasn't it wasn't our game plan to sort of take
- 6:04over the world immediately. We were trying to do it in steps, very
- 6:11gradual steps. It just so happens that we sort of hit on something that
- 6:15really sort of really resonated with people, and our success came from that.
- 6:25And it's fair to say that you definitely took a lot of risks on that
- 6:29album, like you said, there's a lot of things musically there that hadn't
- 6:30been done before at any stage during that process. If you think maybe you've
- 6:35gone too far, or maybe people might not get what you're going for,
- 6:41I don't think we weren't concerned as much about going too far. We were
- 6:47trying to figure out where the limit was. Every day we are looking to
- 6:54see what we can take and how we can push it further. Even now,
- 7:01even what songs that we've already are already recorded, so we limits are
- 7:05not are not the issue. It's where can it how far can it go?
- 7:12Now? You've actually need me to get a future so it's not made
- 7:14that you have actually started working on a follow up album. Were we're in
- 7:18the very very beginning stages of making a new album. Yeah, we're going
- 7:25and song the song and seeing what works and what doesn't work, and what
- 7:29we can add and or subtract to it, and just doing all the math
- 7:33that's required to making songs that we can we would be satisfied with, because
- 7:41you know, when we make a record, uh song or whatever, that's
- 7:46just the that's the basement of its musical expression. We're trying to take it
- 7:50all the way to the top of what it is live, so that the
- 7:57the actual song is a actually recorded song is the foundation and we'll figure out
- 8:03whether where we can go. And you mentioned you might be playing a few
- 8:07of the new songs when you're over here. Is that right? Maybe and
- 8:11maybe not. You never know. We're trying to figure out what works and
- 8:15what doesn't work. So again here there's a surprises you've been asking about.
- 8:20Thanks buddy, you're just a new thinking with having Russian bands that we interview
- 8:24for a few songs for a Spotify playlists are three different playlists that we're making
- 8:28up. So can you give us they're all your songs? Can you give
- 8:31us a living color song to get your fired up to party, living color
- 8:37song that's gonna save your marriage, and a living color song that could potentially
- 8:41end your marriage? Okay, so you said a song that gets me up
- 8:46get fired up to party's fired up to party? I like freedom of expression
- 8:54for that. You said something that would get me married or sing the marriage
- 9:01would saved my marriage. Nothing could save my marriage. That just want to
- 9:05let you know there's no amount of music that saved my marriage. Your mom
- 9:09and you're there, believe in music was not the problem. But let's see
- 9:16what nothingness I think would probably help and what would end my marriage other than
- 9:26me asshole? Cool well answer all right, come, well, thanks very
- 9:37much for your time today. Let me thank you with extreme from September the
- 9:41fourth, so I'll be at the Brisbane show mode so I'll be waving at
- 9:46you from the crowd. Cool, I'll see you there
