Speaker 1: Today, this chapter is about the law of Dharma, and I just have to say first that whenever I hear that word now, I can't help but think of the TV show Lost, which had a plot involving something called the Dharma Initiative.
• 1:42
Speaker 1: But this is not that so far as I know.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: This is about purpose in life, one of the points that Deepak Chopra makes in the Law of Dharma is that you have a unique talent and a unique way of expressing it.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: There's something you do better than anyone else in the whole world.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: He says that for every unique talent there's a unique set of needs, and when those needs are matched with your talent, that's where true affluence is.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: So he says there are three components to the law of Dharma, and here they are.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: One is that each of us is here to discover our true self, our higher self, our spiritual self.
• 2:33
Speaker 1: He reminds us that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and part of our journey is to discover on our own what that higher self is.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: The second component says that we're here to express our unique talents.
• 2:52
Speaker 1: If you've ever been in the middle of doing something you love doing and you just lose track of time, that's you expressing your unique talents.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: The third component is service to humanity, to serve your fellow human beings.
• 3:08
Speaker 1: He reminds us to ask the question how can I help?
• 3:12
Speaker 1: Instead of asking what's in it for me, we ask how can I help?
• 3:16
Speaker 1: How do we then put all of this into practice?
• 3:20
Speaker 1: Well, first, he says, focus on our spiritual practice, anything that brings you to a closer awareness of that spiritual essence of who you are, whether it's meditation or getting quiet that's going to remind you that you are a spiritual being and take you closer to that spiritual self.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: Second, you make a list of your unique talents.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: What activities cause you to lose track of time?
• 3:48
Speaker 1: When you do those, you are putting the law of Dharma into effect.
• 3:52
Speaker 1: Finally, you ask yourself how can I serve, how can I help?
• 3:59
Speaker 1: I close this episode, and in fact this entire series, with these words from Deepak Chopra's Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.
• 4:06
Speaker 1: He writes this when your creative expressions match the needs of your fellow humans, then wealth will spontaneously flow from the unmanifest into the manifest, from the realm of the Spirit to the world of form.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: You'll begin to experience your life as a miraculous expression of divinity, not just occasionally, but all the time, and you will know true joy and the meaning of success, the ecstasy and exaltation of your true own spirit.
