  Speaker 3: That's that's that's true. And I'm going to take a

Speaker 3: that's what And I'll have that post here maybe during
• 2:57
Speaker 3: the commercial brace so you can see Rob is wearing
• 2:59
Speaker 3: today when you see it.
• 3:00
Speaker 6: The hardest thing about this is trying to wear headphones.
• 3:04
  Speaker 3: Huh.
• 3:05
Speaker 6: That's been quite the challenge this morning. Oh the TV
• 3:09
Speaker 6: Star TV's My Ambiolic just walked.
• 3:11
Speaker 3: Into the sea and contested pictures. Bobby Spry, from one
• 3:16
Speaker 3: of our sales weasels Blossom has today and I've been
• 3:18
Speaker 3: teasing her relentlessly. Yeah, yes, that's just who. And she's
• 3:22
Speaker 3: in here to take pictures of the of this turkey
• 3:24
  Speaker 3: on your head.
• 3:24
Speaker 6: Yes, as I told, as I told Keeso Grande Joe
• 3:29
Speaker 6: Parsons this morning. If we're not making a spectacle of ourselves,
• 3:33
Speaker 6: why are we doing this?
• 3:35
Speaker 3: We started at seven am this morning and just kind
• 3:38
Speaker 3: of review. See here on our parking not eleven eleven
• 3:40
Speaker 3: Virginia Street's and Charleston one of those two three four
• 3:43
Speaker 3: events we do each year when all the stations are involved, KWS,
• 3:47
Speaker 3: k Z one one hundred to Mountain the beat. Everybody
• 3:52
Speaker 3: is involved in this and what you can do. The
• 3:54
Speaker 3: great thing about our parking lot is it's circular, Yes,
• 3:57
Speaker 3: so you can pull in literally moved all of our
• 4:00
Speaker 3: vehicles off a lot except for the vans and do
• 4:02
Speaker 3: have a big giant mountain mission truck out there as well.
• 4:05
Speaker 3: You can literally pull into the lot here and make
• 4:08
Speaker 3: the circle. You don't even have to get out of
• 4:09
Speaker 3: your car. We've got our pilgrims, I mean, can we
• 4:13
Speaker 3: say that out there, I don't know what they are.
• 4:15
Speaker 7: He'll take that turkey from you, and we'll take your turkey,
• 4:18
Speaker 7: We'll take your cash, donations, you know, anything else you
• 4:21
Speaker 7: want to give us a mountain mission and those folks
• 4:23
Speaker 7: are on hand out here to put it directly into
• 4:24
Speaker 7: the truck for you don't even have to get out
• 4:26
  Speaker 7: of your car.
• 4:27
Speaker 3: We started at seven this morning and we're going to
• 4:29
Speaker 3: go till six p m. This evening. And I just
• 4:32
Speaker 3: stepped outside before I came in to the airchair here.
• 4:36
Speaker 3: I mean, like Woody Woods is out there. As I said,
• 4:38
Speaker 3: We've got sales weasels out there, the big Boss, Joe
• 4:40
Speaker 3: Parsons is out there. So everybody, everybody coming together to
• 4:44
Speaker 3: help out those who need this holiday season. But this
• 4:47
Speaker 3: was kind of your baby, you know, this is the
• 4:49
Speaker 3: second year we've done talk about what went into making
• 4:52
  Speaker 3: this decision.
• 4:52
Speaker 6: So way back when when I was a wee lad,
• 4:55
Speaker 6: I grew up in one of those families. The best
• 4:57
Speaker 6: way to explain this is Thanksgiving morning, we would go
• 5:00
Speaker 6: out turkey hunting, not so much because we wanted to,
• 5:03
Speaker 6: but because if we wanted turkey, we had to many
• 5:06
Speaker 6: a year picking buckshot out of my turkey at Thanksgiving,
• 5:10
Speaker 6: And there were some years that we didn't have turkey
• 5:12
Speaker 6: because we didn't bag one. That is a long way
• 5:16
Speaker 6: of saying that I know what it's like to be
• 5:19
Speaker 6: the kid who doesn't have the turkey on our table
• 5:21
Speaker 6: for Thanksgiving, to know that we don't have as much
• 5:25
Speaker 6: as others, that we might not have enough to be
• 5:27
Speaker 6: able to celebrate, and so to be in the position
• 5:30
Speaker 6: that I am being the face for radio what if
• 5:34
Speaker 6: we could get turkeys for folks? I know that when
• 5:37
Speaker 6: there are food drives, it's usually almost always non perishables.
• 5:41
Speaker 6: It's folks getting, whether it's the box stuffing or the
• 5:43
Speaker 6: mashed potato mix or the cans of vegetables or you know,
• 5:47
Speaker 6: it's not Thanksgiving unless you have the cranberry sauce that
• 5:50
Speaker 6: comes out of the can, that comes out and has
• 5:52
Speaker 6: the rings around it looks like alpo basically a little
• 5:55
Speaker 6: bit well, I mean it's the same sort of can.
• 5:57
Speaker 6: So all of those non perishable food items are great
• 6:00
Speaker 6: and Mountain Mission putting together baskets and boxes for folks,
• 6:04
Speaker 6: But the most expensive part of the meal, on the
• 6:06
Speaker 6: hardest part to get donated because of both the cost
• 6:08
  Speaker 6: and because it's.
• 6:09
Speaker 3: Perishable, is the turkey.
• 6:12
Speaker 6: So it was, well, why don't we take the Thursday
• 6:14
Speaker 6: before Thanksgiving and just see how many folks we can
• 6:18
Speaker 6: get to bring us frozen turkeys. I'll uh we call
• 6:21
Speaker 6: it the turkey drop because oh yeah, you remember that
• 6:23
Speaker 6: w k RP on the Cincinnati with the I swear
• 6:27
Speaker 6: I thought turkeys could fly. Yes, that's kind of the
• 6:29
Speaker 6: inspiration because a real radio station tried to do that once.
• 6:33
Speaker 6: They tried to turkey and it didn't go well. So
• 6:37
Speaker 6: we're hoping this goes better than that. Last year we
• 6:40
Speaker 6: had a great year, was wonderful to see so many people.
• 6:42
Speaker 6: We're looking to get as many turkeys as we can
• 6:45
Speaker 6: to get them on tables for folks this holiday.
• 6:47
Speaker 3: So that's the whole idea. And again it's going to
• 6:49
Speaker 3: be going until six o'clock this evening. And you were
• 6:52
Speaker 3: really blessed when you did your walk to Markettown with
• 6:56
Speaker 3: the weather not so much today, not so much. I mean,
• 6:59
Speaker 3: could be worse. We could be like in Pocahontas County
• 7:02
Speaker 3: where they're getting eighteen to twenty inches of snow. We
• 7:04
Speaker 3: get some rain and snow mixing. And actually it's not
• 7:07
Speaker 3: too bad out there right now other than being cold.
• 7:09
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 7:09
Speaker 3: But but we're gonna be bundling up out there today.
• 7:12
Speaker 6: It will be blustery later today we'll get a wintery mix.
• 7:16
Speaker 6: All the pavement in place is probably warm enough in
• 7:18
Speaker 6: downtown Charleston that nothing's gonna stick there. Yeah, so you
• 7:21
Speaker 6: know you'll get a dusting on the grass, certainly. But yes,
• 7:26
Speaker 6: Mountain Mama is giving me payback for all of the
• 7:28
Speaker 6: wonderful weather I had. I had two fantastic weeks walking
• 7:32
Speaker 6: from Charleston to Morgantown.
• 7:35
Speaker 3: And so this is uh, this is this is it
• 7:37
Speaker 3: coming due. This is.
• 7:40
Speaker 6: This is mister Potter wanting the eight thousand dollars, the scurvy,
• 7:45
Speaker 6: a little spider that he is.
• 7:46
Speaker 3: It's much better for the if you have to pick
• 7:48
Speaker 3: and choes not that we can pick and choose the
• 7:50
Speaker 3: weather because we can always duck back into building. We
• 7:52
Speaker 3: can always grab a cup of coffee, you know, or whatever.
• 7:55
Speaker 3: Mountain Plus we got. Plus we've got a whole lot
• 7:56
Speaker 3: of people here too.
• 7:57
Speaker 6: We can we could, we can do in shifts like
• 7:59
Speaker 6: like Hockey Mountain Missions actually got one of those heater
• 8:03
Speaker 6: things out there and you know the like they have
• 8:08
  Speaker 6: on the side.
• 8:08
Speaker 3: Okay, well I understand now, and then uh.
• 8:13
Speaker 6: I know there's somebody out there like Dave your your
• 8:16
Speaker 6: parking line isn't circular, it's ovular. Okay, so fine, it's
• 8:19
Speaker 6: an oval. You can still drive in it and you
• 8:21
Speaker 6: can be a good egg and drop off a frozen tury.
• 8:23
Speaker 3: Geometry was not Yeah, it was not my strong suit.
• 8:26
Speaker 6: It's elliptical, and neither one of us has been on
• 8:28
  Speaker 6: an elliptical.
• 8:29
Speaker 3: And I used it to hang clothes on. That's that's
• 8:31
  Speaker 3: that's what I used. It's exactly so. So so let's
• 8:34
Speaker 3: talk about our list yes, sir, because I have said
• 8:37
Speaker 3: we have the greatest listeners in the world. And whether
• 8:40
Speaker 3: it's the station, your station, any of the stations in
• 8:42
Speaker 3: the building, uh, they always come through for us. But
• 8:45
Speaker 3: last year when we did the sock drop last year
• 8:48
Speaker 3: in January was that January lst we did that. It
• 8:50
Speaker 3: was a pretty nasty day that, I mean, we had
• 8:52
Speaker 3: to had real snow that between snowstorm, between snowstorms, we
• 8:55
Speaker 3: did it and they just came out like you wouldn't believe.
• 9:00
Speaker 6: We're fifty five gallon drums full of new socks.
• 9:02
Speaker 3: That's what they did, you know, for us to give
• 9:04
Speaker 3: to those in need. And I know based I got
• 9:07
Speaker 3: to the office as I normally do, around seven thirty
• 9:09
Speaker 3: this morning, and of course the tents are all up
• 9:11
Speaker 3: out there, and demands are already in place and whatever,
• 9:13
Speaker 3: and I already saw people coming in when I went outside,
• 9:16
Speaker 3: as I said, right into eight fifty eight to fifty
• 9:18
Speaker 3: five or so, just before I came down to the studio,
• 9:21
Speaker 3: walked outside and there were like three or four vehicles.
• 9:24
Speaker 3: Big shout out to the folks that at the WWK
• 9:27
Speaker 3: TV thirteen. They were here filming when I got here.
• 9:30
Speaker 3: They're a great partner of ours and we have a
• 9:34
Speaker 3: great relationship with them, and they had their photog out
• 9:36
Speaker 3: here doing and I think they're going to do a
• 9:37
Speaker 3: live shot from here, which helps us out a little
• 9:39
Speaker 3: bit so. But but again the bottom line is this
• 9:43
Speaker 3: is kind of Rob's idea. It started on a KWS thing,
• 9:46
Speaker 3: but then it's kind of gone throughout the building. We're
• 9:48
Speaker 3: all out there. As I said, the general manager, Joe Parsons,
• 9:51
Speaker 3: was out there this morning taking donations. This is this
• 9:55
Speaker 3: is a great thing that you can do to help out.
• 9:57
Speaker 3: And look, if you can't afford a turkey, that's okay.
• 10:00
Speaker 3: Just we'll take a cash donation. And you know, we'd
• 10:03
Speaker 3: like for it to be you know, a substantial obviously,
• 10:06
Speaker 3: but you got two bucks, we'll take it. We're not
• 10:08
Speaker 3: gonna turn you away. You know, if you've got two
• 10:10
Speaker 3: or three bucks, we can put it with another two
• 10:12
Speaker 3: or three bucks and eventually.
• 10:13
Speaker 6: It start stacking up. It becomes real money. Yeah, air quotes,
• 10:16
Speaker 6: I talk about couch cushions and cup holders. And I've
• 10:20
Speaker 6: just said before, I've lived in seventeen states. I've lived
• 10:23
Speaker 6: in three other countries. I came back to West Virginia
• 10:26
Speaker 6: for a reason. It's because I know how much the
• 10:29
Speaker 6: people here embrace helping our friends and neighbors. And it
• 10:33
Speaker 6: is amazing to me that the folks who are who
• 10:35
Speaker 6: are just a step above getting by and putting a
• 10:38
Speaker 6: turkey on their own table, are the folks who come
• 10:40
Speaker 6: across with another turkey for another family to do because
• 10:44
  Speaker 6: they're like I've been there, I know what it's like
• 10:46
Speaker 6: the kids shouldn't be crying on Thanksgiving because we don't
• 10:49
  Speaker 6: have a turkey.
• 10:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're gonna have a turkey. We're gonna make sure
• 10:51
Speaker 3: of that. To Dave Allen showing five any live broad
• 10:53
Speaker 3: to part bagger hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds.
• 10:56
Speaker 3: The Birds and Selango Law continue with Slanglo laws Light
• 10:59
Speaker 3: the Night every night except Christmas Night through New Year's
• 11:02
Speaker 3: Night at the Gomart Ballpark. Details available on Facebook or
• 11:06
Speaker 3: more importantly, get your tickets ahead of time Dblightthnight dot coms.
• 11:09
Speaker 3: And I also want to throw this out there, big
• 11:11
Speaker 3: shout outs to folks at Chick fil A because they
• 11:13
Speaker 3: gave us a whole big old couple of handfuls of
• 11:17
Speaker 3: coupons for breakfast sandwiches. So while supplies last, if you
• 11:20
Speaker 3: come down here and you give us a donation of
• 11:22
Speaker 3: a turkey, cash donation or whatever, we're going to give
• 11:25
Speaker 3: you a coupon courtesy of Tom Men turned into folks
• 11:28
Speaker 3: at Chick fil A that you can also get yourself
• 11:30
Speaker 3: a free breakfast sandwich as well. If our lawyers are.
• 11:32
Speaker 6: Listening, if you make the donation to Mountain Mission, yes.
• 11:36
Speaker 3: Yes, I just I'm going to being that guy for
• 11:39
Speaker 3: a second cover the basis man exactly.
• 11:41
Speaker 6: So yeah, I would love to see as many people
• 11:43
Speaker 6: as possible today. And I know the weather's going to
• 11:45
Speaker 6: be kind of crummy, so.
• 11:47
Speaker 3: You don't have to get out of your car. No,
• 11:49
Speaker 3: we had a text here, says Dave Kroger has turkey
• 11:52
Speaker 3: seventy nine cents a pound with a twenty five dollars purchase.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: So there you go. I mean, so you're we've had
• 11:58
  Speaker 3: you on.
• 11:59
Speaker 6: The fence thinking about that, and you're like, I gotta
• 12:01
Speaker 6: go get my stuff for next week anyway, So you're
• 12:03
Speaker 6: already going to spend more than twenty five bucks getting
• 12:05
Speaker 6: your own turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravies
• 12:09
Speaker 6: and the gams and the green beans for the cast right.
• 12:12
Speaker 3: Stop just stop right there, yits.
• 12:16
Speaker 6: So as you get all that at seventy nine cents
• 12:18
Speaker 6: a pound, you can maybe afford one other turkey and
• 12:22
Speaker 6: bring it to us. If you can afford two, that's
• 12:24
Speaker 6: even better. Ten however many you can. I don't know
• 12:28
Speaker 6: what your budget's like, but I know the desire for
• 12:31
Speaker 6: West Virginians to help West Virginia exactly.
• 12:33
Speaker 3: And also before we let you go. I do want
• 12:35
Speaker 3: to give a big shout out to Johnny Rutherford and
• 12:37
Speaker 3: the folks of Metro nine to one one because Josh Rjr.
• 12:40
Speaker 3: He called me a couple of days ago and he said, look,
• 12:42
Speaker 3: we want to make a donation, and I think it
• 12:44
Speaker 3: was like seven hundred and I think or something like
• 12:45
Speaker 3: seven seven fifty. I'm just gonna keep raising that. Thank
• 12:48
Speaker 3: you for the four thousand dollars donation now I think
• 12:50
Speaker 3: it was seven or seven fifty is that they said about.
• 12:53
Speaker 3: And that was from the employees of Metro nine to
• 12:56
Speaker 3: one one that they went in on that and John
• 12:58
Speaker 3: also challenge all of the other agencies in the area,
• 13:02
Speaker 3: similar type agencies, if they would like to ask their
• 13:05
Speaker 3: employees if they would like to make some donations as well.
• 13:08
Speaker 3: So John's supposed to stop by I think around eleven
• 13:10
Speaker 3: or so this morning, and we're going to do a
• 13:13
Speaker 3: little photo op with him. But that's not why we're
• 13:14
Speaker 3: doing it, because I've known John for a long time.
• 13:17
Speaker 3: He and the folks there at Metro nine to one one,
• 13:19
Speaker 3: they do awesome work and they believe in giving back
• 13:21
  Speaker 3: to the community.
• 13:22
Speaker 6: They are the ones doing the most to help our
• 13:24
Speaker 6: friends and neighbors to keep us safe and healthy. And
• 13:27
Speaker 6: yet here they are stepping up and doing even more.
• 13:30

• 17:56
Speaker 3: How are you today? Doing fine? Thank you so much? Now,
• 17:58
Speaker 3: you guys, I was telling you when I set up

Speaker 3: the interview, I said that you'd be on on a
• 18:04
Speaker 3: special day because it's Turkey Drop Day. Here WVRC media Charleston.
• 18:07
Speaker 3: But you guys are also doing some great things for
• 18:10
Speaker 3: the holiday season. I'll give you a minute to talk
• 18:12
Speaker 3: about what you folks are doing.
• 18:14
Speaker 10: We do. We do a project Thankful for our students.
• 18:17
Speaker 10: Any of our students can sign up. This year, we
• 18:19
Speaker 10: had thirty seven different families sign up, and the other
• 18:24
Speaker 10: students and faculty and staff adopt those families and provide
• 18:27
Speaker 10: Thanksgiving dinner for them. It's really a lot of fun.
• 18:30
Speaker 10: We run it through our Nest, which is the food
• 18:33
Speaker 10: pantry here on campus, so that students, no matter what,
• 18:37
Speaker 10: can have a happy Thanksgiving.
• 18:38
Speaker 3: Indeed, last time I had you on, you were promoting
• 18:42
Speaker 3: your purse bingo. That happened last week. How did that go?
• 18:46
  Speaker 11: It was terrific.
• 18:46
Speaker 10: We raised nine thousand dollars for our Student Opportunity Fund,
• 18:50
Speaker 10: which is our fund that we have through our foundation
• 18:54
Speaker 10: so that students who have some unexpected expense can help
• 18:57
Speaker 10: get those covered. One of the things we talk about
• 18:59
Speaker 10: is that students could be a flat tire away from
• 19:02
Speaker 10: having to drop out of school, and we really don't
• 19:04
Speaker 10: want that. So we use philanthropy as an opportunity to
• 19:07
Speaker 10: be able to help keep people connected to the college
• 19:10
Speaker 10: and have that Opportunity Fund that we raise money for
• 19:12
Speaker 10: pretty regularly, so that we have money so that we
• 19:15
Speaker 10: can help families with emergencies as those arise.
• 19:18
Speaker 3: And doctor Sachs, I think it's very important to point out,
• 19:20
Speaker 3: as you said you every time I have you on
• 19:22
Speaker 3: use that term that the student could be a flat
• 19:24
Speaker 3: tire away or a dead battery or whatever the case
• 19:26
Speaker 3: may be, from not gonna say completing their education, but
• 19:30
Speaker 3: putting a little monkey wrench into the thing. And I
• 19:32
Speaker 3: think with an institution like Bridge Valley, you probably see
• 19:35
Speaker 3: a little bit more of that because you don't always
• 19:37
Speaker 3: have the quote unquote traditional students that are at Bridge Valley.
• 19:41
Speaker 3: Sometimes you get some older folks and folks that are
• 19:43
Speaker 3: changing careers, and you have a wide range of students
• 19:46
Speaker 3: that you serve at Bridge Valley.
• 19:48
Speaker 10: That's true. Bridge Valley really is for everyone. Our average
• 19:51
Speaker 10: age is thirty. A whole bunch of our students are
• 19:55
Speaker 10: single parents. So we do see a few different needs
• 19:59
Speaker 10: for our community than you might see for a traditional
• 20:02
Speaker 10: eighteen year old eighteen year old college student.
• 20:05
Speaker 3: Talking to you know, with doctor Casey Sacks of Bridge Valley,
• 20:07
Speaker 3: I'll remind you that West virgin enriched in collaboration with
• 20:09
Speaker 3: Huntington invite you to witness transformative power Special Olympics. Take
• 20:13

• 20:17
Speaker 3: It's a movement of hope, inclusivity, and trying for reminded

• 20:27
Speaker 3: Special Olympics Facebook dot com, slash five eightwcchs Now with
• 20:31
Speaker 3: all this other stuff you got going on, doctor, you're
• 20:33
  Speaker 3: now taking blood.
• 20:35
  Speaker 2: So to speak.
• 20:36
Speaker 10: We are so once the semester we partner with bond
• 20:39
Speaker 10: fees and do a blood drive so that our students,
• 20:41
Speaker 10: faculty and staff can I'll give blood right here on campus.
• 20:45
Speaker 10: We always have terrific participation, and I actually think one
• 20:48
Speaker 10: of the reasons is that to qualify for state financial aid,
• 20:51
Speaker 10: our students have to do some community service, and giving
• 20:54
Speaker 10: blood counts as community service. So we really try and
• 20:57
Speaker 10: make it easy. We want to promote it. It's one
• 20:59
Speaker 10: of those things that we never know which one of
• 21:01
Speaker 10: us is going to need blood or who's going to
• 21:03
Speaker 10: have an emergency and need that and their families or
• 21:06
Speaker 10: in their own lives, and so it's something we really
• 21:08
Speaker 10: like to promote here on campus.
• 21:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, and so if you get an out and when
• 21:11
Speaker 3: was it again, I'm sorry I was thinking out loud
• 21:13
  Speaker 3: to miss that.
• 21:15
Speaker 10: Our blood drive was on Tuesday.
• 21:17
Speaker 3: It was on Tuesday.
• 21:18
Speaker 10: Enjoyed every semester, So make sure to give you more
• 21:21
Speaker 10: notice next time, Gabe.
• 21:22
Speaker 3: All right, all right, And here's the thing about what
• 21:24
Speaker 3: I've done a lot of work in my career with
• 21:25
Speaker 3: folks with their Red Cross and different blood drives and
• 21:28
Speaker 3: so on and so forth. Sometimes during the holiday season,
• 21:31
Speaker 3: you know, people are running back and forth. They're thinking
• 21:33
Speaker 3: taking care of Thanksgiving. They're thinking, you know, Turkeys and
• 21:36
Speaker 3: Christmas and New Year's and all of the suffen the
• 21:39
Speaker 3: office parties and all this stuff that goes on with it.
• 21:41
Speaker 3: That kind of gets put on the back burner sometimes.
• 21:43
Speaker 3: So always make sure that you get out there and
• 21:46
Speaker 3: you're giving blood. You get some open houses or you've
• 21:49
Speaker 3: had some open houses going on, talk about that both.
• 21:52
Speaker 10: We have had open houses all week and continue into
• 21:55
Speaker 10: next weekend, even into January. We're really gearing up for
• 21:59
Speaker 10: the spring semester and want to encourage people if you're
• 22:02
Speaker 10: thinking about a career change or thinking that you want
• 22:04
Speaker 10: some additional education, there's no time like the present, and
• 22:07
Speaker 10: so we've been really intentional. Building two thousand, the big
• 22:11
Speaker 10: building up on the hill at the Tech Park is
• 22:13
Speaker 10: where most of our health science programs are, so we
• 22:15
Speaker 10: do special open houses for health science and that building.
• 22:19
Speaker 10: More of the manufacturing engineering related programs are in Toyota
• 22:23
Speaker 10: Hall down a little bit farther on the hill at
• 22:25
Speaker 10: the Tech Park, and then we have a few specialized
• 22:27
Speaker 10: programs in Montgomery. We do a diesel program, in HVAC program,
• 22:31
Speaker 10: alignment program, CDL training, all in Montgomery. So we do
• 22:34
Speaker 10: specialized open houses in each location. And so depending on
• 22:38
Speaker 10: what's of interest to you, certainly you could come to
• 22:41
Speaker 10: any open house, but maybe pick the site that best
• 22:45
Speaker 10: fits your interests and come check us out.
• 22:47
Speaker 3: Indeed, before we let you go, I want to talk
• 22:50
Speaker 3: about the WIN Academy a lot of the wi in Academy.
• 22:53
Speaker 3: For those that may be listening to you, doctor Sachs
• 22:55
Speaker 3: for the first time, what exactly is the WIN Academy
• 22:58
Speaker 3: And now you're signing up for people for spring, right.
• 23:01
Speaker 10: So the Win Academy is a public high school. It's
• 23:03
Speaker 10: for students who are in eleventh and twelfth grade who
• 23:06
Speaker 10: are ready to start community college while they're in high school.
• 23:09
Speaker 10: And so it is geared towards nursing and manufacturing. And
• 23:13
Speaker 10: we take high school students and we start them on
• 23:16
Speaker 10: a program of study that's really specific for one of
• 23:19
Speaker 10: those degree program areas. And we picked those because there's
• 23:22
Speaker 10: such huge workforce demands. So we work backwards to support
• 23:25
Speaker 10: our industry partners and are trying to get people into
• 23:28
Speaker 10: the workforce sooner. So if you have a student who's
• 23:31
Speaker 10: in high school who feels like, gosh, I really am
• 23:33
Speaker 10: ready for something different, sign them up. It's a really
• 23:36
Speaker 10: terrific opportunity. You can earn sixty credit hours while you're
• 23:39
Speaker 10: still in high school, completely free to your family.
• 23:42
Speaker 3: All right, can't beat that. Also, Yeah, the Fame program.
• 23:46
Speaker 3: We want to talk about the Fame program.
• 23:48
Speaker 10: Yeah, thanks for asking, Dave. So, fame is we love
• 23:51
Speaker 10: acronyms in higher education. Indeed, the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing
• 23:57
Speaker 10: Education it was something that Toyota started and they they
• 24:00
Speaker 10: started it because what they saw was that manufacturers were
• 24:03
Speaker 10: stealing each other's talent. And rather than steal each other's talent,
• 24:06
Speaker 10: they wanted to grow the entire group of people who
• 24:09
Speaker 10: could work in manufacturing. So they started Fame And what
• 24:12
Speaker 10: it is is they chose Bridge Valley as their education partner.
• 24:17
Speaker 10: So students come to work at one of the manufacturers
• 24:20
Speaker 10: who's in the consortium three days a week. They come
• 24:23
Speaker 10: to Bridge Valley two days a week for their related education.
• 24:26
Speaker 10: They get paid while they're working with their manufacturer, and
• 24:29
Speaker 10: then once they graduate, they can either continue working for
• 24:32
Speaker 10: their employer, or they can decide that they want a
• 24:35
Speaker 10: different employer, and they'll apply for jobs like anybody else.
• 24:38
Speaker 10: But most of our students decide to stay with whoever
• 24:40
Speaker 10: it is they worked for in college because they already
• 24:43
Speaker 10: know the culture and they already know the job. But
• 24:45
Speaker 10: it's a terrific way to get people immediately working in
• 24:49
Speaker 10: the industry where they're going to school. And it's a
• 24:51
Speaker 10: terrific partnership with those businesses, and those applications are open
• 24:55
Speaker 10: right now. They do interviews throughout the spring semester, and
• 24:58
Speaker 10: then students will start in the fall of twenty five.
• 25:01
Speaker 3: All right, doctor Casey Sacks a Bridge Valley always a
• 25:04
Speaker 3: lot going on before I let you go totally unrelated
• 25:06
Speaker 3: to higher education. Give me your favorite thing on the
• 25:10
Speaker 3: Thanksgiving menu for you.
• 25:12
  Speaker 10: Cranberries, for sure.
• 25:13
Speaker 3: Cranberry cranberries. You don't get that a whole lot from people.
• 25:17
Speaker 10: Yeah, they're so good. They're really tart and sweet at
• 25:20
Speaker 10: the same time. It's like candy. But that's maybe a
• 25:22
Speaker 10: little bit better for you than candy.
• 25:23
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, give us the website to where people
• 25:26
Speaker 3: want more information about Bridge Valley.
• 25:28
Speaker 10: It's Bridge Valley dot edu.
• 25:29
Speaker 3: All right, doctor Casey Sacks a Bridge Valley. I appreciate
• 25:31
Speaker 3: you being here. We'll talk again soon. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
• 25:34
Speaker 3: We'll talk to you sometime during the month of December.
• 25:36
Speaker 10: Thank you so much.
• 25:37
Speaker 3: Dave dow To Casey Sachs a Bridge Valley. I've asked,
• 25:40
Speaker 3: you know, from time to time, I'll ask people what
• 25:42
Speaker 3: their favorite party should best Rob, But with radio people,
• 25:46
Speaker 3: you know, what's your favorite part of Thanksgiving? It's well,
• 25:48
  Speaker 3: whatever's on my plate. That's the way I mean. I
• 25:51
Speaker 3: should have probably have asked Rob about that. Maybe I'll
• 25:53
Speaker 3: text him during the break and asking some sure's back

• 25:57
Speaker 3: But what is his favorite part. I've never I don't

Speaker 3: are Biden nominees? Well, mister, mister, well he's still a mister.
• 27:07
Speaker 3: I guess President Biden has got some possible judicial nominees
• 27:11
Speaker 3: to make on the way out the door. So Jared
• 27:13
Speaker 3: and Ryan of Fox News Radio will be on with
• 27:15
Speaker 3: Hobby to talk about that. Everybody talking about snow not
• 27:18
Speaker 3: so much here in the Kanaal Valley, all right, folks,
• 27:22
Speaker 3: to just calm down a little bit on that matter
• 27:24
Speaker 3: of fact, As I said on the show a couple
• 27:25
Speaker 3: of days ago, with what we're gonna have later this
• 27:28
Speaker 3: afternoon into the overnight hours come January February, you're gonna
• 27:31
Speaker 3: think this is nothing because it's not a big deal,
• 27:33
Speaker 3: but it is when you have the first one of
• 27:35
Speaker 3: the season. So you are going to see some snowflakes
• 27:37
Speaker 3: flying here in the Kanawl Valley later today, possibly mixing
• 27:41
Speaker 3: with some rain, a little accumulation on the grass. They're saying,
• 27:44
Speaker 3: it's pretty much it for us. So if you're waiting
• 27:46
Speaker 3: on the big snowstorm for the valley. This ain't it? However,
• 27:50
Speaker 3: a different story if you live in places like Randolph
• 27:53
Speaker 3: or Pocahontas County, Webster County, portions of Greenbrier County, Tucker County,
• 27:56
Speaker 3: those areas they're gonna get hammered eighteen to twenty inches
• 27:59
Speaker 3: or so. Simone Lewis from the National Weather Service will
• 28:02
Speaker 3: be on to talk about that with Hoppy and More
• 28:04
Speaker 3: and your calls and texture always welcome to Hoppy church

Speaker 3: Will Metro News talk Line TENO was six from the
• 28:08

• 28:12
Speaker 3: Text this actually came in yesterday on the show. Says
• 28:15
Speaker 3: I think Dave voted for Trump, but says he didn't,
• 28:19
Speaker 3: so we still has a sense of non cult loverness
• 28:21
Speaker 3: to his moderate or left listeners. Look, I gave everyone
• 28:27
Speaker 3: I'll be you asked, but I host the show my
• 28:30
Speaker 3: opinion on former President Trump. Before I voted for President
• 28:34
Speaker 3: Trump in twenty sixteen, I voted for President Trump in
• 28:36
Speaker 3: twenty twenty. I did not this time around. But he's
• 28:41
Speaker 3: a president of the United States and I'm I'm not
• 28:43
Speaker 3: a Trump hater. I just I disagree with him on
• 28:47
Speaker 3: some not so much policies, but just the way he
• 28:49
Speaker 3: conducts himself. And that's not going to change. However, Donald
• 28:51
Speaker 3: Trump is a president of the United States, and I
• 28:54
Speaker 3: will not be one of those people as I said
• 28:56
Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago that says, that's not my president. No,
• 28:58
Speaker 3: Donald Trump is my pre and I wish him and
• 29:01
Speaker 3: I wish the country the absolute best, because I just
• 29:04
Speaker 3: the kind of guy. But Dave Alan showing five and
• 29:07

• 42:07
Speaker 5: Hey Dave? He always makes me sound good, brother. How
• 42:09
  Speaker 5: you doing that?
• 42:10
Speaker 3: I don't need to make you sound good man, you
• 42:12
Speaker 3: are the man. How are things going out on the
• 42:14
Speaker 3: parking lot. I'll be out there in about fifteen or
• 42:16
Speaker 3: twenty minutes, But how are things going right now? Bum?
• 42:19
Speaker 5: Hey day they coming through. My brother, you know, we
• 42:21
Speaker 5: looking for about a thousand turkeys. And what's the big
• 42:24
Speaker 5: thing about this. We always talk about non perishonal food
• 42:27
Speaker 5: items and we know they need those, but the biggest
• 42:30
Speaker 5: thing on the table, Dave, it's the turkey. If you
• 42:33
Speaker 5: wake up Thanksgiving or Christmas and you ain't got a turkey,
• 42:36
Speaker 5: you probably don't have a great holiday. So that's what
• 42:38
Speaker 5: we're looking for. And the best thing. I was talking
• 42:40
Speaker 5: to Joon Roberts with the mount Mission. If you want
• 42:43
Speaker 5: to drop off cash, he can make ten dollars turn
• 42:46
Speaker 5: into forty dollars. I told him, let's go to the
• 42:47
Speaker 5: casino and he can help me out there. But they
• 42:50
Speaker 5: can stress that out with the partners like Bigley, Tickley
• 42:53
Speaker 5: Whitney and the partners they have. So they coming through, David,
• 42:56
Speaker 5: everybody come through. Check this out. We got free tick
• 42:59
Speaker 5: for Lane. How about free chick fil A?
• 43:02
Speaker 3: Absolutely, yeah, I got you. I got free chick fil A. Yeah,
• 43:08
Speaker 3: we talked about that a little bit earlier. Yeah, free
• 43:12
Speaker 3: chick fil a, Woodrow, free chick fil A. That's it.
• 43:16
Speaker 3: So let's talk about I mean, and I say this
• 43:18
Speaker 3: every time, and Rob and I talked about this top
• 43:20
Speaker 3: of the show. Well, let's talk about the listeners of
• 43:22
  Speaker 3: wv RC media.
• 43:23
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 43:23
Speaker 3: I mean, you've been around a lot longer than than
• 43:26
Speaker 3: a lot of us here. You know, we got the
• 43:27
Speaker 3: greatest listeners in the world.
• 43:29
Speaker 5: My friend, I always say, it's not about me or you,
• 43:34
Speaker 5: is about us. Will we get us together? Will we
• 43:36
Speaker 5: just put the us together? We put everything aside, and
• 43:40
Speaker 5: when us come together, that's how we can raise a
• 43:43
Speaker 5: thousand testes. That's how we can make sure that my
• 43:45
Speaker 5: mission go for one hundred years. I don't know if
• 43:47
Speaker 5: you know, they've been serving our valley for ninety eight years.
• 43:50
Speaker 5: They've been serving the valley for ninety eight years. It
• 43:53
Speaker 5: comes from us, not me or you. But once we
• 43:56
Speaker 5: pull us together. And I was telling John Roberts, listen
• 43:59
Speaker 5: to this, brother, Hey, we because a lot of people
• 44:02
Speaker 5: like thinking a thousand turkeys, that's a lot of turkeys. Butudy,
• 44:04
Speaker 5: but think about the Canan River when it gets low
• 44:07
Speaker 5: and when it gets high, it takes a couple of raindrops.
• 44:09
Speaker 5: That said, a lot of rain drops, A few rain
• 44:11
Speaker 5: drops here, and the river ride. So that's what we're
• 44:14
Speaker 5: gonna do. We need you, you and you and we
• 44:16
Speaker 5: gonna become us, and that's what the listeners do in
• 44:19
Speaker 5: our valley, brother and along our state.
• 44:20
Speaker 3: Man should check this out. I just got a text
• 44:22
Speaker 3: from Bobby Spry, who's probably out there on the parking
• 44:25
Speaker 3: lot with you right now, said we have people coming
• 44:27
Speaker 3: at ten o'clock bringing a one thousand dollars check.
• 44:31
Speaker 5: Somebody matching, Dave, you got the richest listeners in the world.
• 44:35
Speaker 5: You know what I'm gonna call out, mister Riggs. I'm
• 44:37
Speaker 5: gonna call out Mark Ridgs. Hey, mister Riggs brings out
• 44:40
Speaker 5: because Ridgs love your show, Like he told me yesterday
• 44:42
Speaker 5: we went to lump Sesss that he loved listen to
• 44:44
Speaker 5: the show. Hey, Mark Ridge, that's one thousand dollars. I'm
• 44:48
Speaker 5: calling out Ridge, Mark Ridge, bring up check for one
• 44:52
Speaker 5: thousand dollars, Mark Ridge. So, if you know Mark Riggs,
• 44:55
Speaker 5: you telling what he call calling him out. I think
• 44:57
Speaker 5: he's calling me on my cellphone right now.
• 45:00
Speaker 3: All right, Well, anybody, I'll let you go. I'll see
• 45:02
Speaker 3: you in about ten to fifteen minutes.
• 45:04
Speaker 5: Man, yay, how many times that I got Jal Roberts
• 45:06
Speaker 5: out here? All right?
• 45:07
Speaker 3: Go ahead, put him on, man, put him on, Put
• 45:09
  Speaker 3: him on.
• 45:09
  Speaker 5: Heyday dollars.
• 45:11
Speaker 3: Hey day, buddy, you doing man? I love live radio.
• 45:15
Speaker 17: How you doing, John, I'm good, I'm good man. Thanks
• 45:19
  Speaker 17: for having us.
• 45:19
Speaker 3: Thanks you, thank you for being here. You keep an
• 45:21
Speaker 3: eye on Woodrow out there in the parking lot.
• 45:23
Speaker 17: Hey, somebody's got to do that. I'm gonna pull overtime.
• 45:26
Speaker 17: Keep an eye on here.
• 45:28
Speaker 3: Look, I just uh, I just told the listeners here
• 45:30
Speaker 3: that we uh, I got a check from Bobby Spry
• 45:33
Speaker 3: out on the parking lot. So they have people coming
• 45:35
Speaker 3: at ten o'clock rand a one thousand dollars check. Man,
• 45:37
  Speaker 3: that's pretty cool.
• 45:39
Speaker 17: Yeah, yeah, we're excited about that. He was going to
• 45:41
Speaker 17: load up one thousand dollars worth of turkeys, and he thought, well,
• 45:45
Speaker 17: I can take that thousand dollars gift to them and
• 45:47
Speaker 17: they can maybe buy, you know, twelve thirteen hundred dollars
• 45:51
Speaker 17: worth of turkey. So that's what he's going to do.
• 45:53
Speaker 17: And Daryl Rolston Rolston Associates, he's a commercial real estate agent.
• 45:58
Speaker 17: Uh and actually he's on our board of directors. So
• 46:01
Speaker 17: we appreciate their all stepping up and doing that for us.
• 46:04
Speaker 3: And I also understand that the folks from Pigley, from
• 46:07
Speaker 3: Pigley wiggily coming around eleven thirty this morning. Huntingson Bank
• 46:11
Speaker 3: has told us that they're going to come in around
• 46:13
Speaker 3: noon with the donation People's Bank. Not to be outdone.
• 46:16
Speaker 3: We'll get the battle. The bank's going here, John, I
• 46:18
Speaker 3: understand People's Bank. Bobby tells me it's going to come
• 46:20
Speaker 3: in around one o'clock. But again, we appreciate these corporate sponsors,
• 46:23
Speaker 3: but we also appreciate the lady that was out there
• 46:26
Speaker 3: earlier that pulled up into parking lot and said, I
• 46:28
Speaker 3: got five dollars, and I said, we'll take it. We'll
• 46:30
  Speaker 3: take it.
• 46:31
Speaker 17: Aw bless her heart, bless or heart. Yeah, hey, look,
• 46:34
Speaker 17: if you give with the right heart, I tell him
• 46:36
Speaker 17: Woody while I go, if you give it the right heart,
• 46:38
Speaker 17: God will bless it and we'll do some good with it,
• 46:41
Speaker 17: and we'll make sure it all goes together to bless
• 46:44
  Speaker 17: people in need.
• 46:45
Speaker 3: All right, I'll be out there in about ten or
• 46:46
Speaker 3: fifteen minutes, so we'll let you get back to taking
• 46:49
Speaker 3: care of Woody and Rob and Steve, Anal and all
• 46:51
Speaker 3: the other personalities that are out there. Steven, Jenny, we're
• 46:53
Speaker 3: all out there today. John, I'll see in a bit, man.
• 46:56
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot, Okay, thanks man, and Drew, what do
• 46:59
Speaker 3: you thinks you as well? We'll let you go go
• 47:01
  Speaker 3: collect some stuff.
• 47:02
Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, hey Dave, Yeah, Martin Riggs, he gonna match
• 47:07
Speaker 5: the one thousand dollars. We're gonna get it real.
• 47:09
Speaker 3: How cool is that? Martin Riggs got called out on
• 47:13
Speaker 3: the spot and Martin Riggs said, I will come up
• 47:16
Speaker 3: with another thousand dollars to match that. So what do he?
• 47:18
  Speaker 5: Uh?
• 47:19
Speaker 3: You know, when this whole radio thing is gone, you're
• 47:21
Speaker 3: gonna have to get with my buddy Marlon Collins, because
• 47:23
Speaker 3: I think you've got a career in raising money for
• 47:25
Speaker 3: churches or something. Buddy.
• 47:27
Speaker 5: Hey, we just go do what we gotta do for
• 47:30
Speaker 5: I don't care how we do it, where we do it,
• 47:32
Speaker 5: but we're here for this community because we lot of community,
• 47:35
Speaker 5: and the community glove us brother, all.
• 47:37
Speaker 3: Right, man, I appreciate it, and I will be out
• 47:39
Speaker 3: here in about ten or fifteen. Thanks a lot, man, Hey.
• 47:41
Speaker 5: Day, Thank you brother, keep up with show what.
• 47:44
Speaker 3: He woulds from his sister station to beat John Roberts
• 47:47
Speaker 3: from Mountain Mission again, and thank you so much for
• 47:49
Speaker 3: Martin Riggs who just matched We had somebody. As I said,
• 47:51
  Speaker 3: I got a text somebody said they're coming with a
• 47:53
Speaker 3: check with a for a thousand dollars and Martin Riggs, Uh,
• 47:56
Speaker 3: just loyal listener to the show said I'll match it.
• 47:59
Speaker 3: So there's one thousand dollars right there. I appreciate it

• 48:20
Speaker 3: So I want to mention a couple of news items here.
• 48:23
Speaker 3: Briefly mentioned this on the show yesterday, and we have
• 48:26
Speaker 3: it online and the story WCSS network dot com. And
• 48:28
Speaker 3: it has to do with now former Putnam County Commissioner
• 48:32
Speaker 3: and former sheriff Steve Dewesze. Dewice named in an information
• 48:35
Speaker 3: filed this week of Putnam County Circuit Court by a
• 48:37
Speaker 3: prosecutor out of Wayne County who was appointed special prosecutor
• 48:41
Speaker 3: in the matter. Dewise according to the special prosecutors, alleged
• 48:44
Speaker 3: to have entered into an agreement for four straight years
• 48:47
Speaker 3: with a calendar company to allow the use of a
• 48:51
Speaker 3: Sheriff's department picture for a calendar that the company would
• 48:54
Speaker 3: then use to sell ads on. Now, according to court documents,
• 48:57
Speaker 3: the calendar company would then send a check, believing that
• 49:00
Speaker 3: that check would benefit the Sheriff's Department in Putnam or
• 49:03
Speaker 3: the Putnam County Deputy Sheriff's Association. Special prosecutor says that
• 49:06
Speaker 3: money never made it to either the Sheriff's Department or
• 49:09
Speaker 3: to the Deputy Sheriff's Association. Now the court case pretty
• 49:14
Speaker 3: much is over as best I understand it. Early in
• 49:17
Speaker 3: the week, Steve dewis entering what's commonly known as a
• 49:20
Speaker 3: Kennedy plea, meaning basically, it's a plea of no contest. Now,
• 49:24
Speaker 3: under the law, the plea means there is sufficient evidence
• 49:27
Speaker 3: to potentially convict the party of a misdemeanor crime or
• 49:30
Speaker 3: fraudulent schemes. But in this case, Deuice admits no guilt
• 49:35
Speaker 3: and as part of his deal, he has to pay
• 49:38
Speaker 3: back the money to the Putnam County Deputy Sheriff's Association
• 49:42
Speaker 3: of the four grand is how much it was, and
• 49:44
Speaker 3: to resign his seat as a Putnam County Commissioner, which
• 49:47
Speaker 3: he has done effective. I understand at the end of
• 49:49
Speaker 3: this month. Also he cannot run for public office again.
• 49:52
Speaker 3: Against story posts about that, wv Metronews dot com text says, Hey, Dave,
• 49:58
Speaker 3: are we going to walk the big check to the
• 49:59
Speaker 3: Mountain Mis in North Charleston. Possibly, but I don't know
• 50:03
Speaker 3: if rob Reel wants to do anything associated with walking
• 50:05
Speaker 3: right now. After walking that big old check for WVU
• 50:07
Speaker 3: Children's Hospital from eleven to eleven all the way to
• 50:10
Speaker 3: the Children's Hospital in Morgantown last month, we might walk
• 50:14
Speaker 3: a check to Mountain Mission, but I don't think Robriel
• 50:17
Speaker 3: is going to be the one to do it. Just
• 50:19
Speaker 3: saying I don't. I don't think that is going to happen.
• 50:21
Speaker 3: The discussions and public meetings over Peia continue. Big one
• 50:28
Speaker 3: held Tuesday night in Morgantown, and the next one is
• 50:31
Speaker 3: an in person event tonight at the Culture Center in Charleston.
• 50:34
Speaker 3: Now in Morgantown, there were union protests prior to the event,
• 50:39
Speaker 3: which was held on Tuesday night at the Ericson Alumni
• 50:42
Speaker 3: Center of WVU. Of course, you know the numbers PIA
• 50:46
Speaker 3: is increasing or try you know, if it's a fourteen
• 50:49
Speaker 3: percent increase from what I understand, fourteen percent increase in premiums,
• 50:54
Speaker 3: forty percent in deductibles, and also the increase and the
• 50:58
Speaker 3: charges for spouse who fall under those plans now sets
• 51:04
Speaker 3: I think I think the figures one hundred and forty
• 51:07
Speaker 3: seven dollars if I'm correct, And now that would raise
• 51:09
Speaker 3: from one forty seven to three point fifty. So obviously
• 51:13
Speaker 3: some state employees are are pretty upset about that, and
• 51:16
Speaker 3: there are other increases that go along with that as well.
• 51:20
Speaker 3: And again, this hearing is going to be tonight on
• 51:23
Speaker 3: the grounds of the Capitol and the Culture Center, and
• 51:25
Speaker 3: it starts at six o'clock. They've done some virtual meetings
• 51:29
Speaker 3: and they had a big old crowd. I saw the pictures.
• 51:32
Speaker 3: And again Mike Nolton's got a story posted about a
• 51:34
Speaker 3: WV metronews dot com on the event that happened in
• 51:37
Speaker 3: Morgantown on Tuesday evening. This one is in Charleston. Expected
• 51:42
Speaker 3: to be a capacity crowd there tonight. I don't know
• 51:44
Speaker 3: about protesters, but I do know there is going to
• 51:46
Speaker 3: be a capacity crowd there. It starts at six to
• 51:48
Speaker 3: night at the Culture Center. We of course will be
• 51:50
