We've covered a lot of shapes lately: circles, squares, ovals, rectangles, stars. Luna: And hearts and diamonds too, right? But I always mix them up. Lucas: That's perfect because today we're focusing on just those two: diamond and heart. Luna: Okay, great. So let's start with diamond. How do you say that? Lucas: Diamond in Cantonese is 菱形. Say it with me: 菱形. Luna: 菱形. Lucas: Good. And heart is 心形. Try it: 心形. Luna: 心形. That sounds like 'heart shape' literally. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's put them in sentences. To say 'this is a diamond', you say 呢個係菱形. Luna: 呢個係菱形. Lucas: And 'this is a heart' is 呢個係心形. Luna: 呢個係心形. Lucas: Let's practice with some objects. Imagine I have a diamond-shaped sticker. I'd say 呢個係菱形. Luna: 呢個係菱形. And if I have a heart-shaped cookie, I say 呢個係心形? Lucas: Exactly. And if the heart is pretty, you can add 好靚 at the end. Luna: So 個心形好靚. Lucas: Perfect. 個心形好靚 means 'the heart shape is beautiful'. Luna: I love that. Let me try: 個心形好靚. Lucas: You sound great. Now, can you say 'this is a diamond' again? Luna: 呢個係菱形. Lucas: And 'this is a heart'? Luna: 呢個係心形. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're at a gift shop and you see a diamond-shaped keychain. What do you say? Luna: Hmm. 呢個係菱形. Lucas: Right. And then you see a heart-shaped mug. What do you say? Luna: 呢個係心形. And maybe 個心形好靚. Lucas: Exactly. You're getting it.
