- 0:07The feast of Saint Camillus de Lellis, July 18 in the year of our Lord 2026. The Holy Ghost who has manifested himself in all manner of ways in the souls of the saints whose names have appeared in the cycle since the feast of Pentecost proposes to our admiration on this day, Saint Camillus, whose charity towards his neighbor had specially Jesus in view. Born in 1550 in the kingdom of Naples of the noble family of Lellis, Saint Camillus entered the Capuchin order, but twice he had to leave it on account of a sore on his leg For God intended him to be the founder of a congregation of regular clerks consecrating themselves to the service of the sick. He obtained from the apostolic see approbation for his order.
- 1:19Inspired by the example of Jesus who died for us and who has declared that there is no greater proof of love than to give one's life for others. These religious promise to tend the sick, even those stricken with the plague. Saint Camillus, as well as his institute, received from God a special grace to help souls to emerge victoriously from the death struggle. Wherefore the name of this saint has been included by the church in the litany for the agonizing. St.
- 1:57Camillus died at Rome on 07/14/1614. Commemorated today, St. Symphorosa of Tivoli, spouse of the martyr Saint Githoulus, was the mother of seven sons to whom she taught the faith. Arrested at Tivoli by the order of Emperor Adrian, she was hung up by the hair and then thrown into the river Tevaron with a stone tied to her neck. All her children stretched on stakes by means of pulleys imitated her constancy and were martyred in the year of our Lord 01/2020.
- 2:49In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
- 2:59The Introit. This is the greatest love a man can show that he should lay down his life for his friends. Blessed is the man who takes thought for the poor and the destitute.
- 3:13The Lord will keep him safe in time of trouble. Glory be to the father and to the son and to the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning, is now and will be, through all ages of ages. Amen. This is the greatest love a man can show that he should lay down his life for his friends. The Collect.
- 3:44Let us pray. O God, who didst adorn Saint Camillus with a special gift of charity to help the dying in their last agony. Inspire us, we pray thee, through his merits, with the love of thee, so that in the hour of our death we may be found worthy to vanquish the enemy and obtain a heavenly crown. A commemoration of Saint Simferroza and her seven sons. O God, who permits us to celebrate the anniversary of the death of your holy martyrs Simferroza and her sons, grant that we may enjoy their companionship in everlasting happiness through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
- 4:46Amen. A lesson from the first letter of Saint John the Apostle. Brethren, do not be surprised that the world should hate you. Remember that we have changed over from death to life in loving the brethren as we do. Whereas if a man is without love, he holds fast by death.
- 5:16A man cannot hate his brother without being a murderer. And you may be sure that no murderer has eternal life dwelling in him. God has proved his love to us by laying down his life for our sakes. We too must be ready to lay down our lives for the sake of our brethren. And now suppose that a man has the worldly goods he needs and sees his brother go and want.
- 5:47If he steals his heart against his brother, how can we say that the love of God dwells in him? My little children, let us show our love by the true test of action, not by taking phrases on our lips. The gradual, right reason is on the good man's lips. Well weighed are all his counsels. His steps never falter because the law of God rules in his heart.
- 6:28Alleluia. Alleluia. A blessed man is he who fears the Lord bearing great love to his commandments. Alleluia. A continuation of the holy gospel according to John.
- 6:50At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, This is my commandment, that you should love one another as I have loved you. This is the greatest love a man can show, that he should lay down his life for his friends. And you, if you do all that I command you, are my friends. I do not speak of you anymore as my servants. A servant is one who does not understand what his master is about.
- 7:28Whereas I have made known to you all that my father has told me, and so I have called you my friends. It was not you that chose me. It was I that chose you. The task I have appointed you is to go out and bear fruit, fruit which will endure so that every request you make of the father in my name may be granted you. The offertory.
- 8:05Well, may the just man rejoice, oh, Lord, in thy protection. Well may he triumph in thy saving power. Never a wish in his heart hast thou disappointed. The secret. May this unspotted victim with which we renew the great work of our Lord Jesus Christ's infinite charity be through the intercession of blessed Camillus, our saving remedy against all infirmities of body and soul, and in the last agony, solace and protection.
- 8:53A commemoration of Saint Simferroza and her seven sons. We offer you, O Lord, the gifts of our service. May they be pleasing to you for the honor of your just ones and through your mercy bring us salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. The Common Preface Just it is indeed and fitting, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, O holy Lord, father almighty, everlasting God, through whom the angels praise thy majesty, the dominions worship it, the power stand in awe, The heavens and the hosts of heaven, together with the blessed Seraphim, joyfully do magnify.
- 10:07We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
- 10:35Hosanna in the highest. The communion. I was sick and you cared for me. Believe me, when you do it to one of my brethren here, you did it to me. The post communion.
- 11:01Let us pray. Through this heavenly food which we have reverently and devoutly taken in celebration of the feast of thy confessor, Saint Camillus, grant, we pray thee, oh, Lord, that at the hour of our death, we may be strengthened by thy sacraments, purged of all our faults, and counted worthy to be taken up rejoicing into thy merciful embrace who liveth and reignest with God the father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of Saint Simferroza and her seven sons. Grant, we pray thee, O Lord, at the intercession of thy holy martyrs Simferroza and her seven sons, that we may receive in purity of heart that which has passed our lips through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
- 12:30Amen. Saint Camillus Lellis, pray for us. Saint Simferroza and her seven sons, pray for us.
