- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes eight eighty eight through eight ninety
- 0:18Speaker 1: Sabo enraged, the tragedy of the Revolutionary Army officer Kuma.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Finally it starts the conspiracy filled Reverie and Marco, the
- 0:30Speaker 1: keeper of Whitebeard's last Memento. In these episodes, we are
- 0:37Speaker 1: still pretty flashback heavy, but we are getting a little
- 0:41Speaker 1: bit of what's going on currently, and Sabo sneaking about
- 0:46Speaker 1: doing his thing, and I am really not sure how
- 0:50Speaker 1: the straw hats are going to fit into things. Welcome
- 0:56Speaker 1: to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. Florian,
- 1:23Speaker 1: I think is still here in the chat. Sorry about
- 1:26Speaker 1: the weird start. Everybody who is here but seems to
- 1:29Speaker 1: be working okay now, So yeah, it's it is kind
- 1:37Speaker 1: of weird the number of episodes in a row we
- 1:42Speaker 1: get that are so flashback heavy. It makes sense because
- 1:45Speaker 1: we're the whole thing with the Reverie is that we're
- 1:47Speaker 1: getting a ton of people that we have met over
- 1:49Speaker 1: the course of the series, and so it is smart
- 1:53Speaker 1: to just refresh and make sure that we remember where
- 1:57Speaker 1: everybody is from, and you know why they're in important
- 2:01Speaker 1: basic things like what their names are. You all know me.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Despite this, I am still going to need some help
- 2:08Speaker 1: in the chat, so forgive me. If you have watched
- 2:10Speaker 1: the show a million times, please recall I haven't, so
- 2:14Speaker 1: I don't remember everything. But I for those who were
- 2:23Speaker 1: listening in the last episode, I actually watched this out
- 2:27Speaker 1: of order by accident. So I had already seen these
- 2:29Speaker 1: episodes before I recorded on the previous episodes and was
- 2:33Speaker 1: very confused about why Shira Ho Shehi was like, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 1: needing medical aid. And now I have the context for that,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and so I understand some things a little bit better.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So starting with eight eighty eight, Sabo enraged, we get
- 2:52Speaker 1: the reminder of the backstory of Kuma, and it's such
- 3:01Speaker 1: a weird thing because correct me obviously if I'm wrong,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I think I am right. Kuma didn't just get grabbed
- 3:17Speaker 1: up and turned into a robot. It seems that the
- 3:23Speaker 1: suggestion is he got slowly all of his parts replaced
- 3:29Speaker 1: until he was a robot like that. This is because
- 3:35Speaker 1: I think the turn of phrase, and again I'm checking
- 3:37Speaker 1: on this because I know that sometimes the translation is
- 3:42Speaker 1: going to be a little different than the original, so
- 3:44Speaker 1: I want to make sure I understand this. But the
- 3:46Speaker 1: way that the narrator in the dub describes it is
- 3:52Speaker 1: that like there was some remaining personality and will of
- 3:59Speaker 1: his own still in him when he helped the straw
- 4:04Speaker 1: Hats that time, So it wasn't like he his personality
- 4:10Speaker 1: had been totally eclipsed by what was being done to him,
- 4:14Speaker 1: But it was made to sound like this was a
- 4:19Speaker 1: bit of a struggle for him to break through whatever
- 4:21Speaker 1: was like controlling him or whatever his orders were, and
- 4:24Speaker 1: that it's sort of the last time that he was
- 4:27Speaker 1: truly himself that we saw at least. You know, Seraphim
- 4:35Speaker 1: from Fake Fan probably doesn't even know who mayor whoop
- 4:38Speaker 1: Slap is? Is that real? Who the fuck is mayor
- 4:42Speaker 1: whoop Slap? Sir Seraphim, Who's that? Uh? Saraphim says, yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it was a process that finished with him losing any
- 4:49Speaker 1: sense of self. Between Sabaudi and Marine Ford, Okay, I
- 4:55Speaker 1: thinking back to when the information is eventually dropped about
- 5:02Speaker 1: how Kuma is not himself anymore, I feel like I
- 5:08Speaker 1: had kind of I feel like I had a really
- 5:13Speaker 1: low key reaction because Kuma just didn't really mean anything
- 5:20Speaker 1: to me. At this point, I didn't understand where all
- 5:25Speaker 1: of this fit in in terms of the rest of
- 5:28Speaker 1: the narrative. You know, I think that now when I
- 5:35Speaker 1: come across this beat in the story, Oh it's the
- 5:39Speaker 1: mayor of Lufy's hometown, thank you, Sarah him. I think
- 5:45Speaker 1: that now when I come across this story beat, it's
- 5:52Speaker 1: a lot more affecting. It's not like trying to find
- 5:58Speaker 1: the way to like really describe vibe because I haven't
- 6:01Speaker 1: gotten to know more about Kuma. It's not really like
- 6:05Speaker 1: I'm more invested in him as a person, Like that's
- 6:08Speaker 1: not really it. It's more that the I think the
- 6:15Speaker 1: knowledge more of like the world government and what it's
- 6:18Speaker 1: willing to do, the links they're willing to go to.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I understand a little bit more about what potentially might
- 6:29Speaker 1: have been happening to him. We get a flashback with
- 6:34Speaker 1: Do Flamingo talking to I cannot remember their name, you guys,
- 6:41Speaker 1: the drag queen, the frankenfter, you know, the one what
- 6:46Speaker 1: is their name? But it's when Eva, thank you Florian
- 6:52Speaker 1: or Iva. I'm gonna say Eva, but the flashback is
- 6:59Speaker 1: Eva across Kuma and they had been old friends, and
- 7:04Speaker 1: Eva being like, why don't you recognize me? And Del
- 7:09Speaker 1: Flamingo has to explain to Eva that he isn't himself anymore.
- 7:15Speaker 1: His personality is gone. This isn't the Kuma that you knew,
- 7:22Speaker 1: And the way that he frames it is he volunteered
- 7:29Speaker 1: to be part of an experiment, which Eva is straight
- 7:34Speaker 1: up like, bullshit. I don't believe you. He hates the
- 7:39Speaker 1: world government. Why would he ever fucking do that. No,
- 7:45Speaker 1: that's not it. That's simply I just don't believe you.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And honestly, fair I agree, there is something about this
- 7:55Speaker 1: that feels really insidious and gross and something that I
- 7:59Speaker 1: there has to be an element in here of either
- 8:02Speaker 1: it was coerced or he agreed to something that they
- 8:07Speaker 1: lied about. Maybe he thought it was going to be
- 8:10Speaker 1: something and it turns out to be a different thing entirely,
- 8:15Speaker 1: I honestly I don't. I don't know, but I am
- 8:21Speaker 1: growing a lot more curious about what was going on
- 8:25Speaker 1: with Kuma in general now because I've grown more interested
- 8:32Speaker 1: in the dynamics of this world due to feeling a
- 8:37Speaker 1: little bit more settled in the story. I think, and
- 8:41Speaker 1: I believe having a little bit more of a frame
- 8:44Speaker 1: of reference of how one plot line is affecting other
- 8:47Speaker 1: plot lines. At the beginnings of one piece, there is
- 8:52Speaker 1: so much going on, and there are so many characters
- 8:54Speaker 1: dropped into your lap, and there's so many weird implications
- 8:57Speaker 1: of things that you can't really keep track of everything
- 9:00Speaker 1: in a way that makes sense in context, because most
- 9:03Speaker 1: of it is happening without context initially, and it's just
- 9:08Speaker 1: sort of putting a piece in place for the context
- 9:11Speaker 1: to eventually be given to us way later down the line.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And it was something that I had a lot of
- 9:18Speaker 1: trouble with, I'm sure y'all remember where it was just
- 9:22Speaker 1: like I didn't know what to pay attention to and
- 9:26Speaker 1: what not to pay attention to because I was so
- 9:29Speaker 1: caught up in certain things that didn't wind up going
- 9:32Speaker 1: anywhere right away, and then there were other things that
- 9:35Speaker 1: I wasn't really that engaged by, but it turned out
- 9:39Speaker 1: that was the plot line that ODO was going to
- 9:41Speaker 1: focus on now, and so whether I was interested or
- 9:44Speaker 1: not irrelevant, you know. And it could be really hard
- 9:47Speaker 1: for me to really connect sometimes with the arcs because
- 9:54Speaker 1: you just don't know what's going to be relevant where,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and the relevant sometimes just takes a very long time
- 10:03Speaker 1: to fucking manifest at all, you know. So all that
- 10:07Speaker 1: to say, everything coming back around with Kuma here is
- 10:13Speaker 1: really feeling like we're finally getting a payoff and a
- 10:19Speaker 1: context for a character that was presented in such a
- 10:22Speaker 1: way that obviously he was like important, but the import
- 10:27Speaker 1: of him was really at the time just about how
- 10:32Speaker 1: powerful he was, and eventually about how, oh, this isn't
- 10:38Speaker 1: him anymore, and it wasn't enough for me because I
- 10:44Speaker 1: don't care if it's still him. Really, I didn't get
- 10:46Speaker 1: to know him. I knew that he was like trying
- 10:49Speaker 1: to help us and that he was kind of on
- 10:51Speaker 1: our side, but even when he was on our side,
- 10:54Speaker 1: there was a weirdness to him that I was just
- 10:57Speaker 1: sort of like, what the fuck is going on with you?
- 10:59Speaker 1: And so when he turns up and he's not really himself,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I'm I don't really know what could possibly be going on,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and I'm just sort of like, oh, that's weird, you know,
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not getting it. And so this time around,
- 11:15Speaker 1: getting these flashbacks and this context, I was like a
- 11:20Speaker 1: lot more like, oh, yeah, something here is really really wrong,
- 11:26Speaker 1: especially considering that like he had told us that he
- 11:31Speaker 1: was a member of the Rebel army at some point,
- 11:34Speaker 1: so like he was friends with Sabo, which we see
- 11:37Speaker 1: later on the way that Sabo is reacting to seeing
- 11:40Speaker 1: him being brutalized. It's really really strange, y'all because the
- 11:52Speaker 1: impression again that I'm getting is that the Kuma that
- 11:57Speaker 1: they are brutalizing isn't really Kuma anymore. And I'm trying
- 12:04Speaker 1: to remember who it is that stops Oh, I remember,
- 12:08Speaker 1: because Sabo is like about to attack when he sees us.
- 12:11Speaker 1: You know, I have to do this now, right, This
- 12:15Speaker 1: is the it's the crow man, whose name I already forgot,
- 12:18Speaker 1: but I'm using my sound effects anyway. But he stops
- 12:22Speaker 1: Sabo just before bro is about to light up some
- 12:25Speaker 1: folks' asses. And I mean that very literally. I keep
- 12:28Speaker 1: forgetting Sabo's eating the flame flame fruit, and so when
- 12:31Speaker 1: he has his fist turn on fire, I'm just like what,
- 12:34Speaker 1: oh right, But he stops Sabo just before he really
- 12:39Speaker 1: puts himself out there, and he says to Sabo, even
- 12:45Speaker 1: if we were to save him right now, he isn't
- 12:49Speaker 1: the same person and we can't undo what was done
- 12:52Speaker 1: to him. Oh that fucking sucks like so then, like
- 13:02Speaker 1: I so much of the way that this story works. Overall,
- 13:10Speaker 1: it tends to be in a way that I criticized
- 13:16Speaker 1: a lot with like Doctor Who, but which I accept
- 13:18Speaker 1: with one piece because it takes itself much less seriously. Overall,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it tends to be we find a way out of
- 13:28Speaker 1: a seemingly impossible situation eventually and it just turns into
- 13:33Speaker 1: its own mission. And so while it seems like there's
- 13:37Speaker 1: no hope for a certain thing, eventually it turns out
- 13:41Speaker 1: there is something to be done that can undo it.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And like I said, there are properties in which I
- 13:49Speaker 1: do not have patience for this trope, and I think
- 13:51Speaker 1: that things need to be like need to fucking happen
- 13:53Speaker 1: and stay having happened, and not be easily undone one piece,
- 14:00Speaker 1: For the most part, I'm fine with that. There there
- 14:03Speaker 1: have been a few times that pell is here in
- 14:08Speaker 1: this episode. There have been a few times where I
- 14:10Speaker 1: haven't liked the way that's been handled, But I have
- 14:16Speaker 1: to assume something can be done eventually to bring back
- 14:23Speaker 1: the Kuma that we know or or kind of new.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I say no, but I didn't really know. It's more
- 14:31Speaker 1: that Sabo new, you know, and I don't have any
- 14:37Speaker 1: idea what that is. If, like it's supposed to be
- 14:41Speaker 1: that his personality is in there somewhere, but it's just
- 14:44Speaker 1: been really suppressed. And if something were to be you know,
- 14:48Speaker 1: if they tweaked something, there would be his personality rising
- 14:53Speaker 1: to the surface again somehow, maybe, And Saraphim's says, Karasu
- 15:02Speaker 1: who is which is Japanese for murder of crows? I
- 15:06Speaker 1: will never remember that name. I'm so sorry, guys. I'm
- 15:08Speaker 1: just just gonna be crow guy for me, But I'm
- 15:10Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna try Karasu, Karasu Karasu. I am assuming
- 15:20Speaker 1: that part of the reason that we did this to
- 15:23Speaker 1: Kuma is purely to fuck with the rebel army. Like
- 15:32Speaker 1: what I'm thinking is we want to show them our
- 15:36Speaker 1: power and that we can take their friends from them,
- 15:39Speaker 1: they're loyal followers, true believers, and turn them into a
- 15:44Speaker 1: tool that doesn't even have like any agency anymore, and
- 15:49Speaker 1: that it's just kind of a humiliation thing for the
- 15:52Speaker 1: fun of it. It's interesting to see how because we've
- 15:58Speaker 1: got a couple of the select Jill Dragon's here who
- 16:02Speaker 1: are talking about the one Kuma that they have got
- 16:06Speaker 1: custody of, which I think is the original because there's
- 16:09Speaker 1: been a bunch of copies made of him. By now
- 16:12Speaker 1: they take turns having custody of him, and he is apparently, like,
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know, a very sought after book at the library
- 16:26Speaker 1: where there's just a wait list that's like months long,
- 16:28Speaker 1: and everybody is very excited for when they get their
- 16:31Speaker 1: chance to have Kuma as their slave, and also mount
- 16:37Speaker 1: because they evidently like ride him places. It's something and
- 16:47Speaker 1: when Sabo sees them, he is like watching them beat
- 16:51Speaker 1: up Kuma, who does bleed, which I wasn't expecting. I
- 16:57Speaker 1: kind of thought he was going to end up fully
- 17:04Speaker 1: a robot, but it seems like he's a cyborg, kind
- 17:07Speaker 1: of like Frankie, So there's actual bleeding, but there's no reaction.
- 17:13Speaker 1: And it's such a weird thing because bullies who like
- 17:21Speaker 1: to beat on people all have their own weird motivations
- 17:26Speaker 1: for doing this. Right, Some people are doing this because
- 17:31Speaker 1: they were laid low by that person and they're enjoying
- 17:34Speaker 1: getting a bit of their own back. Some people are
- 17:37Speaker 1: just bullies who like to feel like they have power
- 17:40Speaker 1: over other people and they just get off on this.
- 17:43Speaker 1: In general, some people it's a means of transferring their
- 17:49Speaker 1: frustration at like being bullied by someone else in their
- 17:53Speaker 1: own life, and so they take advantage of a chance
- 17:57Speaker 1: to bully when they get it, because it's like five,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I am not on the receiving end. What it feels
- 18:05Speaker 1: like is purely with the celestial dragons is that they
- 18:08Speaker 1: are simply assholes who love power and love exercising that
- 18:13Speaker 1: power over other people. It's like, if not something that
- 18:17Speaker 1: they are literally born with, at least something that they
- 18:19Speaker 1: are taught to be so thoroughly that it takes a
- 18:24Speaker 1: hell of a lot of undoing that brainwashing for them
- 18:28Speaker 1: to turn back into a person with empathy, which we
- 18:31Speaker 1: do see the one who there comes a point. I
- 18:37Speaker 1: can't remember who it is that says it, but they're
- 18:39Speaker 1: they're talking to the celestial dragon who turned on his family,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and I think she says something like, do I have
- 18:46Speaker 1: permission to beat the fuck out of some celestial dragons now?
- 18:49Speaker 1: And he actually says yes, I will take full responsibility
- 18:54Speaker 1: for whatever happens. You can protect your people as aggressively
- 19:01Speaker 1: as you see fit, which I admit I was kind
- 19:05Speaker 1: of impressed by. There was almost a part of me
- 19:06Speaker 1: that was suspicious, like, are they being set up? You know,
- 19:14Speaker 1: him saying I take full responsibility. How much is he
- 19:19Speaker 1: allowed to take full responsibility? What I mean by that
- 19:23Speaker 1: is it's one thing to say you'll take it, but
- 19:26Speaker 1: it's another thing for them to actually let you do that.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Where somebody attacks them to defend a friend, and you
- 19:33Speaker 1: come forward and be like I told them, they were
- 19:36Speaker 1: allowed I take responsibility. They can still just kill that
- 19:40Speaker 1: person and then slap the shit out of you. You
- 19:44Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, It's not It is not at
- 19:47Speaker 1: all a mutually exclusive situation. So I was just sort
- 19:54Speaker 1: of like, I appreciated the thought, but I'm not really
- 19:58Speaker 1: sure in practice exactly how useful this is going to be.
- 20:06Speaker 1: And I bring up like the motivations behind bullying, because
- 20:13Speaker 1: I find it interesting that the celestial dragons are enjoying
- 20:18Speaker 1: beating up a kuma who doesn't seem to know what
- 20:21Speaker 1: is happening to him, or a kuma who is at
- 20:26Speaker 1: the very least not reacting. And that is what one
- 20:29Speaker 1: of them specifically says, is like he doesn't scream or anything.
- 20:32Speaker 1: He's the perfect slave, like which there are folks out
- 20:36Speaker 1: there who when they hit somebody, want the screaming. You know,
- 20:40Speaker 1: that's the appeal to them is getting the reaction of
- 20:46Speaker 1: fear and pain out of another person, and so if
- 20:49Speaker 1: they don't scream, that person doesn't feel satisfied. The fact
- 20:57Speaker 1: that they are satisfied despite the fact that he doesn't
- 21:00Speaker 1: scream or have really any reaction at all, seemingly leads
- 21:06Speaker 1: me to believe they knew him before and maybe that
- 21:13Speaker 1: there is a spark of the original in there that
- 21:16Speaker 1: they know is powerless. So what they are enjoying about
- 21:25Speaker 1: it isn't overt to me viewing it, but it is
- 21:29Speaker 1: due to some kind of knowledge of the situation that
- 21:32Speaker 1: they have that makes this feel really satisfying, despite a
- 21:37Speaker 1: lot of the usual hallmarks of bullying not being present
- 21:43Speaker 1: as like a consequence, you know. So that makes me
- 21:50Speaker 1: think that Kuma is maybe in there, and maybe we
- 21:53Speaker 1: can get him back out. I don't know what again,
- 21:56Speaker 1: what that would even look like, And I don't know
- 21:59Speaker 1: what that means for the bunch of other robot Kumas
- 22:02Speaker 1: that we have made, whom I am assuming those Kumas
- 22:06Speaker 1: don't bleed. Maybe they do, and I'm just but that
- 22:10Speaker 1: was my assumption. It's like that those are straight up robots,
- 22:14Speaker 1: but maybe they're cyborgs too. I don't know anyway, Suffice
- 22:20Speaker 1: to say, we get a bunch of the flashbacks about
- 22:25Speaker 1: Kuma and what he was like when he first encounters
- 22:29Speaker 1: Zoro and helps all of the straw Hats out, and
- 22:34Speaker 1: you know, the way that he has clearly been taken
- 22:37Speaker 1: control of, and that pretty much is like all of
- 22:41Speaker 1: episode eight eighty eight, then eighty nine. Finally it starts
- 22:47Speaker 1: the conspiracy filled reverie. It's sort of an odd one
- 22:53Speaker 1: because so sorry, I'm trying to skip the intro here,
- 22:59Speaker 1: crunchy roll is not reacting well to me, pausing and
- 23:04Speaker 1: then going over to the tab where my life is
- 23:07Speaker 1: happening so that I can see the chat. It keeps
- 23:10Speaker 1: going to the full like episode menu when I stay
- 23:14Speaker 1: away for too long, so I have to like restart
- 23:16Speaker 1: it and rEFInd my place in it. So anyway, the
- 23:26Speaker 1: chat between Sabo and the rest of his crew, he
- 23:30Speaker 1: is saying like, we're bringing Kuma home, and everybody is saying, obviously,
- 23:37Speaker 1: we'll see this mission through. He saved your brother, didn't he,
- 23:41Speaker 1: if I recall correctly, And he says, yeah, at a
- 23:45Speaker 1: time when I was helpless, back when I still had amnesia.
- 23:52Speaker 1: It was at the sabah Odie Archipelago. We get this like,
- 23:55Speaker 1: you know, recap of everything that happened here, and we
- 24:00Speaker 1: have when Lufy is like telling everybody not to fight.
- 24:03Speaker 1: We can't win, we're too weak. But some of them
- 24:06Speaker 1: just didn't wouldn't hear of it. But yeah, evidently that's
- 24:13Speaker 1: like the reason that we're here for the Rebel Army
- 24:19Speaker 1: is to get Kuma back, which, uh, I'll be honest, guys,
- 24:27Speaker 1: until we get the flashback with the actual dialogue, I
- 24:32Speaker 1: didn't remember Kuma saying that he was part of the
- 24:37Speaker 1: rebel army. I had completely forgotten about that. Once it
- 24:41Speaker 1: was mentioned, I did remember, it wasn't sort of like,
- 24:43Speaker 1: oh did he say that? I was like, very I
- 24:46Speaker 1: very quickly kind of went oh, yeah. But I somewhere
- 24:53Speaker 1: along the way he just became somebody who was like,
- 24:57Speaker 1: he's working with the enemies. But I know he's not
- 24:59Speaker 1: an enemy. And I can't remember details about it, you know,
- 25:03Speaker 1: And I am so curious what he fucking did. I'm
- 25:07Speaker 1: so curious why they targeted him the way they did,
- 25:10Speaker 1: how they caught him, how this whole thing was done
- 25:15Speaker 1: to him in such a way, Like did they have
- 25:19Speaker 1: a really terrible hostage that they were like hanging over
- 25:23Speaker 1: his head, that they were going to hurt if he
- 25:26Speaker 1: didn't comply with what they were doing to him. I
- 25:30Speaker 1: feel like that's the only all of this, assuming it
- 25:37Speaker 1: wasn't a physical overpowering of him and like essentially tying
- 25:45Speaker 1: him up and taking him away, which it may have been.
- 25:50Speaker 1: He was just so powerful. I'm really not sure who
- 25:53Speaker 1: all is going up against him and winning, you know
- 25:57Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I keep thinking about, like it's not
- 26:01Speaker 1: that there aren't folks out there that we have seen
- 26:04Speaker 1: who had a power set that could compete with his,
- 26:06Speaker 1: because we definitely did have that. But he is allowed
- 26:12Speaker 1: to go out into the world partially finished, so to speak,
- 26:17Speaker 1: you know, partially like all his parts replaced, but not
- 26:23Speaker 1: fully transformed yet. And they were like evidently fairly confident
- 26:29Speaker 1: that he was going to come back and that he
- 26:31Speaker 1: was going to continue on with whatever it was they
- 26:34Speaker 1: were doing, which just leads me to believe they are
- 26:40Speaker 1: holding something over him, and I may just have it wrong,
- 26:45Speaker 1: and that there was something about you know, what I
- 26:49Speaker 1: keep thinking of in this case, guys, is in the
- 26:54Speaker 1: Michael Crichton book Jurassic Park, not in the movie, there
- 26:59Speaker 1: is a mechanic that they've built into the dinosaurs where
- 27:06Speaker 1: a certain nutrient in food. I think it's loutine. They
- 27:14Speaker 1: will die if they don't get like kind of an
- 27:17Speaker 1: excessive amount of it in their diet, and that is
- 27:20Speaker 1: only provided artificially through the feed from the park, which
- 27:26Speaker 1: is allegedly supposed to keep them from being able to
- 27:32Speaker 1: leave the park itself and survive. Seraphim says Lycene. And
- 27:38Speaker 1: that was in the movie too, was it? I didn't
- 27:41Speaker 1: remember that, okay, So I'm wondering if it was something
- 27:47Speaker 1: like that where he could not survive if he was away,
- 27:53Speaker 1: for like, there was something that only they could provide
- 27:56Speaker 1: for him, and if he didn't come back and get it,
- 28:00Speaker 1: he would die. I don't feel like that's enough. I
- 28:04Speaker 1: feel like the way that I have grown to know
- 28:08Speaker 1: the members of the the Rebel Army, that leads me
- 28:17Speaker 1: to believe that they would much prefer letting themselves die
- 28:21Speaker 1: than to undergo something like this or betray their friends,
- 28:25Speaker 1: you know. So I feel like that doesn't really But
- 28:30Speaker 1: maybe or perhaps they thought they were sending him in
- 28:34Speaker 1: there to be like a double agent, and they didn't
- 28:37Speaker 1: realize that he was going to get caught perhaps. I
- 28:45Speaker 1: don't know anyway. I know I'm spending a lot of
- 28:47Speaker 1: time on this, but like I said, I just find
- 28:50Speaker 1: myself much more engaged and invested by this story than
- 28:55Speaker 1: I was before. I'm trying to scrub through because so
- 29:00Speaker 1: much of this second episode is a series of flashbacks
- 29:05Speaker 1: that trying to go to the part where there's actually
- 29:07Speaker 1: new things happening, it's so much flashback. Holy shit. Okay,
- 29:16Speaker 1: oh right, Sabo, because he saved my brother's life in
- 29:19Speaker 1: because he's our friend, and everybody is very much on board,
- 29:26Speaker 1: but it was looking like he was about to just
- 29:28Speaker 1: ruin the whole mission by attacking out of nowhere. So
- 29:30Speaker 1: I'm glad that somebody was there to talk some sense
- 29:32Speaker 1: into him, because he was gonna fuck it up for everybody. Sabo,
- 29:37Speaker 1: You've got to maintain control of yourself, sir. We go
- 29:43Speaker 1: briefly to the Sunny and Lufy is just obsessing over
- 29:48Speaker 1: this poster where his bounty is up to one point
- 29:52Speaker 1: five billion, so he's just kind of it's almost like
- 29:56Speaker 1: he's in a catatonic state, but in a positive way.
- 30:02Speaker 1: And they get the newspaper about how the Reverie is
- 30:07Speaker 1: starting today, and this is when we get the narrator,
- 30:09Speaker 1: so the much anticipated event, the Reverie commences. The seas
- 30:16Speaker 1: of the world are divided into four bodies of water,
- 30:18Speaker 1: split one way by a massive continental well known as
- 30:21Speaker 1: the Red Lineings, but the other way by a dangerous
- 30:23Speaker 1: stretch of sea known as the Grand Line. Within these
- 30:26Speaker 1: waters lines the New World where Luthy is traveling. The
- 30:31Speaker 1: World Government is a massive organization encompassing most of the
- 30:34Speaker 1: world's nations one hundred and seventy in total. Every four years,
- 30:40Speaker 1: fifty chosen rulers are sent to the Holy Land to
- 30:43Speaker 1: represent their nations in important negotiations. And all of this
- 30:50Speaker 1: is accompanied by clips of different people who are taking
- 30:54Speaker 1: seats at this like in this huge sort of almost
- 30:59Speaker 1: like a really upscale castle like conference room. We have
- 31:04Speaker 1: a dude sitting down who looks like straight up Dracula.
- 31:07Speaker 1: There's a woman sitting down next to him, who I
- 31:09Speaker 1: guess is supposed to be with him because they have
- 31:12Speaker 1: similar very angular features, but she doesn't seem to have
- 31:15Speaker 1: the teeth that he has. We Uh, let's see, there's
- 31:22Speaker 1: somebody who sits down, a woman with like this blonde
- 31:25Speaker 1: hair piled up, and I couldn't tell if I was
- 31:27Speaker 1: supposed to know who she was, because so many of
- 31:29Speaker 1: these women really do have the exact same face. And
- 31:35Speaker 1: let's see, oh right, there's a mention of some pirates
- 31:41Speaker 1: that were terrorizing the Dracula's island, and he mentions that
- 31:47Speaker 1: Sakazuki like managed to gather up these pirates and put
- 31:51Speaker 1: them in impelled down. And then they like wind up
- 31:56Speaker 1: talking about Loofy, and you know, he's a very topic
- 32:00Speaker 1: of conversation right now because of his bounty going up
- 32:03Speaker 1: and the fact that he is went up against Big
- 32:08Speaker 1: Mom and survived. She didn't beat her, but I think
- 32:13Speaker 1: it's pretty clear to everybody the fact that he got
- 32:17Speaker 1: away with his life is remarkable in itself. And then
- 32:24Speaker 1: somebody says, rumor has it that they're going after Kaido next.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I am really I know that Kaido got a call
- 32:37Speaker 1: from Big Mom about Loofy, but I don't remember the
- 32:42Speaker 1: straw Hats setting their sights on Kaido. I feel like
- 32:48Speaker 1: I forgot a beat, a story beat somewhere, because this
- 32:52Speaker 1: guy is saying like he really knows, and I don't
- 32:55Speaker 1: know what's been said publicly that people know about that
- 33:01Speaker 1: would lead them to this conclusion. If everybody knew about it,
- 33:07Speaker 1: my assumption would be that there would be a trap
- 33:09Speaker 1: laid for him there, because they're trying to catch him. Right.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Let's see, Oh, yeah, this guy, I must raise the
- 33:18Speaker 1: question can we even consider them a nation? Perhaps we
- 33:22Speaker 1: should make that our business? And oh my god, fucking woppole.
- 33:29Speaker 1: He is so weird looking right now. I hate this
- 33:31Speaker 1: guy so much. But yeah, he is very much the
- 33:35Speaker 1: topic of conversation, and just everybody is sort of viewing
- 33:39Speaker 1: him as a destabilizing force that leaves chaos in his wake,
- 33:44Speaker 1: and we probably should handle him. But we've got King Kobra,
- 33:50Speaker 1: who is it seems, really trying to deflect this conversation
- 33:56Speaker 1: because he is, you know, he's a buddy of Loofy's
- 34:01Speaker 1: and just jumps in and it's just like, oh, we
- 34:05Speaker 1: have a new chair person and just fully derails this conversation.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Let's see. Sarah M says, we know they were the
- 34:15Speaker 1: ones who weren't on hole Cake went to Wanta to
- 34:17Speaker 1: start laying the groundwork for dealing with Kaido. Oh I
- 34:22Speaker 1: forgot about that. God, that was such a while ago.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Now I really can't even remember what led to them
- 34:31Speaker 1: wanting to do that setting a trap there would require
- 34:34Speaker 1: being in Kido's territory, and he's not going to like
- 34:37Speaker 1: having marines nearby. Fair But why were they going after him?
- 34:45Speaker 1: Or is it because he was the one who attacked
- 34:51Speaker 1: the Animal Island? Oh my god. I I'm sorry, guys,
- 34:58Speaker 1: because it's just like the split happened so long ago,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and I just completely lost track of the fact that, like,
- 35:06Speaker 1: there were a couple of missions happening, and didn't I
- 35:11Speaker 1: do not remember to help Momo and the Samurai get
- 35:15Speaker 1: revenge for killing Mom's dad Momo's dad and the attack
- 35:20Speaker 1: on Shoe Shoe Uh okay, yes, now I remember fucking Momo.
- 35:29Speaker 1: That's right, Florian says. Also Law wants him down right,
- 35:37Speaker 1: Trafalgar Law is still out here in the mix, Okay.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I wonder what they're making of all of this news.
- 35:47Speaker 1: So yeah, I guess everybody is like, ohware that that's
- 35:49Speaker 1: going on. And I'm just wondering because like I've been
- 35:54Speaker 1: sort of assuming that somehow the straw Hats are going
- 35:57Speaker 1: to wind up at the reverie. I maybe not, maybe
- 36:03Speaker 1: that's not happening at all. I just I thought there
- 36:06Speaker 1: was going to be something that like required that you
- 36:10Speaker 1: know what I mean. But I think it makes more
- 36:14Speaker 1: sense that they're doing their own thing and we're when
- 36:18Speaker 1: we're at the Reverie, the thing that's going on is
- 36:21Speaker 1: really Sabo and the rebels, because Loofy would just show
- 36:26Speaker 1: up and announce at the gate, hey, I'm here to
- 36:28Speaker 1: beat the shit out of all of you, and it
- 36:31Speaker 1: would turn into something that I don't think they could win.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Even now the straw hats, even after getting stronger, I
- 36:38Speaker 1: don't think it's gonna work out. So I just don't
- 36:41Speaker 1: see that being narratively something that works. But maybe I
- 36:47Speaker 1: don't know. Sabo is somebody who is actually capable of subterfuge,
- 36:52Speaker 1: you know, Loufy just doesn't do that. So Sabo being
- 36:57Speaker 1: the main antagonist here and I mean antagonist to all
- 37:02Speaker 1: of the members of the world government obviously not an
- 37:05Speaker 1: antagonist in our eyes, that does seem like it would
- 37:11Speaker 1: make more sense and be easier to deal with. Like
- 37:13Speaker 1: story wise, Sarahim says, aside from all that, he's also
- 37:18Speaker 1: got one of the four road ponoglyphs. They need to
- 37:21Speaker 1: find the one piece, right, these ponoglyphs. Yeah, I feel
- 37:29Speaker 1: like there's sort of the vestige of me kind of going,
- 37:33Speaker 1: I guess I just don't quite care about the ponoglyphs.
- 37:40Speaker 1: It's still not really sinking in for me. It's the
- 37:44Speaker 1: sort of thing that I think the idea of actually
- 37:49Speaker 1: like finding them all and finally being able to just
- 37:52Speaker 1: read it just seems so outlandish that we'll ever find
- 37:56Speaker 1: the one piece. Like I just sort of went into
- 37:59Speaker 1: this show assuming the one piece is the friends they
- 38:03Speaker 1: made along the way, and we're not. Actually there's not
- 38:05Speaker 1: going to be a treasure. Now allegedly there is, and
- 38:11Speaker 1: I feel like this has been confirmed somehow that this
- 38:14Speaker 1: is like a thing I am not spoilt. So if
- 38:17Speaker 1: they do end up finding it within the show that
- 38:19Speaker 1: we have so far, I don't know that, but I
- 38:23Speaker 1: feel like I I don't remember anyway. I just the
- 38:31Speaker 1: idea of like finding these things that lead us to
- 38:34Speaker 1: the one piece seems like very low priority to me
- 38:41Speaker 1: story wise, because I don't believe we are going to
- 38:46Speaker 1: get there, and so it's a difficult place to be
- 38:50Speaker 1: in as a reader where allegedly the whole thing is
- 38:53Speaker 1: supposed to be find the one piece and become King
- 38:56Speaker 1: and the Pirates, and I have pretty much internally shelved
- 39:01Speaker 1: that happening at any point, and so the pony glyphs
- 39:06Speaker 1: and the urgency in finding those is something that just
- 39:09Speaker 1: has absolutely no impact on me when it comes to
- 39:15Speaker 1: caring about that like subplot. You know, Saraphim says Oda
- 39:23Speaker 1: has said many times there is an actual treasure there,
- 39:26Speaker 1: and ironically this is one of the few stories that
- 39:29Speaker 1: actually could make a the friends we made along the
- 39:31Speaker 1: Way things work. Like, just for the record, the friends
- 39:35Speaker 1: we made along the Way isn't an inherently bad thing.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Like the show has just been going so long, you
- 39:42Speaker 1: know that assuming they don't find it is reasonable. I
- 39:47Speaker 1: wouldn't be mad about it. It wouldn't bother me. I
- 39:50Speaker 1: pretty much kind of like went into this feeling like
- 39:54Speaker 1: that's not what we're here for, you know. So I
- 39:59Speaker 1: want to say, like, in no uncertain terms, I am
- 40:02Speaker 1: not I don't have the attitude of like, if there's
- 40:05Speaker 1: no actual treasure and if he doesn't become King of
- 40:09Speaker 1: the Pirates, I am going to be pissed and feel
- 40:13Speaker 1: like this is a waste of time. Not at all
- 40:16Speaker 1: that I don't feel that way at all. It's just
- 40:18Speaker 1: that I have so completely assumed that part of the
- 40:23Speaker 1: story isn't going anywhere that whenever we sort of circle
- 40:28Speaker 1: back to plot lines that have to do with achieving
- 40:31Speaker 1: that or missions that have to do with achieving that,
- 40:36Speaker 1: it feels like this is not nothing is going to
- 40:40Speaker 1: come of this. We'll find one more piece of the
- 40:43Speaker 1: puzzle and it'll tell us one more thing, and then
- 40:46Speaker 1: we will have another three hundred episodes before we find
- 40:49Speaker 1: the next one, and it's just going to be like
- 40:52Speaker 1: that for maybe ever. And that's fine, but it does
- 40:56Speaker 1: result in me not being at all invested in finding
- 41:00Speaker 1: the treasure, because as much as Oda has said that
- 41:03Speaker 1: there is a treasure, when do we get there? Maybe
- 41:08Speaker 1: not for a very long time still, So the only
- 41:13Speaker 1: thing that could get me feeling like, really really invested
- 41:18Speaker 1: is the concept of Oda saying I'm wrapping up one piece,
- 41:23Speaker 1: by the way, like this year's the last run and
- 41:28Speaker 1: we're going to be reaching the end of the series finally,
- 41:30Speaker 1: And then I would start to pay attention to this
- 41:32Speaker 1: because I would feel like we've got some sort of
- 41:36Speaker 1: you know, measuring stick to use. But otherwise, the whole
- 41:42Speaker 1: thing with that is I'm just letting it wash over me.
- 41:44Speaker 1: And anytime that I'm reminded of it. I'm just like,
- 41:47Speaker 1: oh yeah, and like it's unfortunate because Robin is so
- 41:54Speaker 1: nothing in so many ways for me, and I wanted
- 41:56Speaker 1: her to be a little bit more. And the fact
- 41:58Speaker 1: that a lot of what she brings to the table
- 42:01Speaker 1: is her knowledge surrounding all of this stuff and her
- 42:04Speaker 1: interest in the ponoglyphs. It's just too bad that a
- 42:08Speaker 1: character that often doesn't get lots to do is very
- 42:13Speaker 1: much like tied in with the plotline that I don't
- 42:18Speaker 1: give a shit about. So it's just sort of a
- 42:22Speaker 1: one two punch for a character that I feel like
- 42:24Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be this way, you know, but anyway,
- 42:29Speaker 1: I just I am trying to jump ahead into the
- 42:35Speaker 1: we have that fucking Uncle Sam. Dude. Guys, this dude,
- 42:41Speaker 1: I'm assuming in the live watch or the live action
- 42:47Speaker 1: the meeting that Vivi gets knocked down by Woppole is
- 42:51Speaker 1: the Reverie, But that's where they are at the time,
- 42:55Speaker 1: because we're seeing a lot of these same people in
- 42:57Speaker 1: that like when the camera you know, goes from face
- 43:01Speaker 1: to face and yeah, we've got the narrator chiming in here.
- 43:08Speaker 1: The most influential leaders and all the seas will begin
- 43:13Speaker 1: their discussion and reshape the world. And for seven days,
- 43:20Speaker 1: my fellow nobleman, we shall speak of this beautiful world
- 43:25Speaker 1: of ours. And we see the doors closing. It's very
- 43:29Speaker 1: much giving in the room where it happens, you know.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So then we go to this like group of people
- 43:36Speaker 1: that are The guy is in the subtitles labeled Elder
- 43:42Speaker 1: Star D, and he says, it seems like it has started. Cobra,
- 43:51Speaker 1: the king of Alabasta, is requesting a special meeting with us,
- 43:56Speaker 1: and somebody else says, interesting, they are like one of
- 44:02Speaker 1: the only families that stayed in the lower world. And
- 44:06Speaker 1: the other guy is saying, oh, so they're traitors, that's
- 44:10Speaker 1: what you're saying. Uh, these guys are the leaders of
- 44:14Speaker 1: the world government itself, right like oh, Saraphim says, yep.
- 44:20Speaker 1: It was one of the previous ones regarding the live
- 44:22Speaker 1: action the Garossi, the five Elder Stars, who are the
- 44:25Speaker 1: old white guys that run the world. Okay, right, right right?
- 44:32Speaker 1: And yeah, Big Mom and Caido are in trouble. This
- 44:36Speaker 1: started with the War of the Best and now I
- 44:39Speaker 1: fear it can't be stopped. It's most worrisome. Elderstar D says.
- 44:44Speaker 1: The balance can't be maintained forever. This we all know.
- 44:48Speaker 1: With that in mind, I believe the time has come
- 44:51Speaker 1: for a great cleansing, gentleman. Which anytime that a person
- 45:00Speaker 1: in power uses the word cleansing, it's bad. It's a bad,
- 45:07Speaker 1: bad thing. So at this point we have someone kneeling
- 45:14Speaker 1: and saying, great Emu. They have arrived and they're kneeling
- 45:22Speaker 1: in this sort of it's like a butterfly sanctuary. We
- 45:29Speaker 1: have this shadowy figure that is letting a butterfly land
- 45:32Speaker 1: on their finger. And I think, I'm like, so you
- 45:39Speaker 1: guys had me read that weird story that had and
- 45:43Speaker 1: now the uh, the lightning god type, you know, ruling
- 45:51Speaker 1: over the moon. I think that I keep like weirdly
- 45:58Speaker 1: thinking that this is him, and I know that that's
- 46:02Speaker 1: not right, Like it wouldn't make any sense with the
- 46:04Speaker 1: way things have gone so far. And the name, why
- 46:08Speaker 1: would he have like a different name at this point,
- 46:11Speaker 1: you know? But I don't know what keeps making me
- 46:14Speaker 1: think that does he have like a name like Enu
- 46:18Speaker 1: or something that's a different name for the original and
- 46:23Speaker 1: Annell is like the dub name or something. I feel
- 46:26Speaker 1: like there's something there that I'm half remembering, and that's
- 46:29Speaker 1: what's mixing me up. But this this being is standing
- 46:37Speaker 1: up at one point and is standing in such a
- 46:39Speaker 1: way that until the camera kind of shows them a
- 46:45Speaker 1: few times at different angles, I did not realize that
- 46:49Speaker 1: that was like a person. It looks like the silhouette
- 46:52Speaker 1: of a tree, like a dead tree that's blasted by
- 46:58Speaker 1: being blasted by lightning in wilderness somewhere in the midst
- 47:02Speaker 1: of like a desert or something, and they are very
- 47:05Speaker 1: still and very black. They're just like in a silhouette.
- 47:10Speaker 1: And when the camera pulls out we see this like
- 47:15Speaker 1: pile of posters of both Loofy and the Princess Shira
- 47:24Speaker 1: Hoshi and Blackbeard. Who I am really curious how you
- 47:30Speaker 1: can hate those guys and hate black Beard because it
- 47:33Speaker 1: feels like they should be on the same side if
- 47:36Speaker 1: they hate black Beard. So I don't know what that means.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Sarah him says, this is also the being we saw
- 47:44Speaker 1: in the freezer with the giant straw hat. Okay, yeah,
- 47:48Speaker 1: I don't think I was getting that actually, so I
- 47:51Speaker 1: appreciate that heads up. But yeah, Shira Hoshi is the
- 47:55Speaker 1: one that actually has a blade actively still through her
- 47:59Speaker 1: face like her her poster or picture. I say poster,
- 48:03Speaker 1: like she's wanted. That is not how it works. And
- 48:05Speaker 1: then this person pulls out a picture of viv and
- 48:13Speaker 1: that is not torn up. It feels like it's suggesting
- 48:20Speaker 1: they want viv for some reason, like they care about
- 48:25Speaker 1: her or see her as a prize or something. Maybe
- 48:33Speaker 1: they think that the people who they've crossed out or
- 48:37Speaker 1: like you know, torn up their photos would somehow get
- 48:41Speaker 1: in their way when it comes to getting viv Or.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I don't see how she ro Ho she would factor
- 48:48Speaker 1: in there, or Blackbeard for that matter. So I don't know.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Let's say, Marshall d teach monkey d loofy Dophy said
- 48:59Speaker 1: the celestial and see those of d as the natural
- 49:02Speaker 1: enemies of God. Yeah, such a weird thing. I don't look,
- 49:08Speaker 1: y'all know that I have a weird hard time with this.
- 49:12Speaker 1: So so it turns out that where all of these
- 49:19Speaker 1: old men are going is that throne room, where allegedly
- 49:25Speaker 1: the entire point is that nobody sits on that throne.
- 49:30Speaker 1: That's supposed to be the way that you know, it
- 49:33Speaker 1: has a symbolism to it. But this shadowy figure fucking
- 49:39Speaker 1: sits down on that throne and then all of these
- 49:43Speaker 1: dudes kneel to him, which anybody that these guys kneel
- 49:50Speaker 1: to has to be pretty fucking terrifying. And one of
- 49:57Speaker 1: them says, basically, who you want us to kill? Who
- 50:01Speaker 1: have you decided is going to be erased from history?
- 50:07Speaker 1: And there's just this really long pause as they all
- 50:12Speaker 1: kneel and wait, and the camera zooms in on this
- 50:16Speaker 1: weird red eyeball, and then it's to be continued, and
- 50:20Speaker 1: we do not hear what this being says to them.
- 50:25Speaker 1: So that's a weird one. So the final episode of
- 50:33Speaker 1: these three deals a lot with white Beard and his
- 50:39Speaker 1: uh like the people that are were affected by him,
- 50:45Speaker 1: and the one that, like we spend the most time
- 50:48Speaker 1: with at the start of this is Marco, who has
- 50:50Speaker 1: some healing abilities related to his phoenix fire somehow. I
- 50:57Speaker 1: don't know exactly how all this works, but uh there's
- 51:03Speaker 1: a creature that is a real weird looking beast that
- 51:08Speaker 1: he is restoring to health that seems to be like
- 51:11Speaker 1: the pet of this little girl, and I just do
- 51:15Speaker 1: not care for the design of this creature and it
- 51:17Speaker 1: makes me, really, it makes me really uncomfortable. It reminds
- 51:21Speaker 1: me a little bit of there is in the story
- 51:29Speaker 1: I'm currently covering Cryoburn by Lois McMaster Boujol that's part
- 51:34Speaker 1: of the verkosaga and saga. There is a sphinx creature
- 51:38Speaker 1: that is like a you know, cat body with the
- 51:40Speaker 1: face of a human. And anytime that there's like an
- 51:43Speaker 1: animal that's got a very human like face, I just
- 51:48Speaker 1: find it so off putting and awful, Like I hate it.
- 51:53Speaker 1: So I think that's part of what my deal is
- 51:55Speaker 1: with this Seraphim says, we now know there's a single
- 52:01Speaker 1: asshole in charge of the whole world government. Now how
- 52:03Speaker 1: long till Lufy gets to punch him. Marco has the
- 52:07Speaker 1: Phoenix mythical zone, and phoenixes are linked to healing and rebirth. Yeah,
- 52:14Speaker 1: this I know. I'm just not really sure exactly how
- 52:19Speaker 1: Like does he just cover it in flames and it
- 52:21Speaker 1: just magically heals them or you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 52:25Speaker 1: I'm not sure of the mechanic of how this works.
- 52:29Speaker 1: We saw one of those creatures and impel down as
- 52:31Speaker 1: one of the monsters in the beast level. Okay, so
- 52:40Speaker 1: let's see. Oh right, we have a bunch of I
- 52:48Speaker 1: am so sorry, guys. The fucking animal people. I have
- 52:54Speaker 1: such a hard time with remembering what they as a
- 52:57Speaker 1: group are called, and I don't know why minks. Thank you,
- 53:01Speaker 1: Sarah him it's such a weird I think the reason
- 53:04Speaker 1: that I have trouble with that is because a mink
- 53:07Speaker 1: is the name of like a specific animal, and so
- 53:11Speaker 1: all of them being called minks is just really strange
- 53:15Speaker 1: to me, because you know what I mean, it's like
- 53:20Speaker 1: having all of them be called cats. It just but
- 53:25Speaker 1: that is that's a specific thing, though, so I think
- 53:27Speaker 1: it's just my brain refuses to hold on to it.
- 53:32Speaker 1: But they are looking around this village that has been
- 53:37Speaker 1: ransacked and abandoned, and I don't think we're told specifically
- 53:42Speaker 1: exactly where they are. Later on, when Marco is talking
- 53:47Speaker 1: to them about white Beard, I believe that this is
- 53:51Speaker 1: maybe supposed to be white Beard's home island, but I
- 53:59Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I'm right about that, because the
- 54:01Speaker 1: way he talked about it was like saying that white
- 54:04Speaker 1: Beard sent them resources a lot anonymously, and I don't
- 54:10Speaker 1: know why it would have been ransacked at this point,
- 54:17Speaker 1: but yeah, so, uh, there's also a mention here because
- 54:22Speaker 1: one of these guys who's like a gorilla man ah,
- 54:28Speaker 1: he tried. He's trying to like walk out there and
- 54:31Speaker 1: find out what's happening, and the Minotaur is like telling
- 54:35Speaker 1: him that, you know, you were told to stay here
- 54:40Speaker 1: because that quaint little village is full of people who
- 54:45Speaker 1: have never seen the likes of us before, and if
- 54:48Speaker 1: we go out there, they will be terrified. And he's like,
- 54:54Speaker 1: I think, correctly, I don't get why I'm scarier than
- 54:59Speaker 1: Master Cap because he's really freaky looking and he's bigger,
- 55:04Speaker 1: and the two of them, one of them says, like
- 55:09Speaker 1: when he gets mad, and the other says, yeah, but
- 55:13Speaker 1: he does have a cute smile, and I was like
- 55:16Speaker 1: a word okay, So it's like that anyway, so we get.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Like I said, a lot of flashback here regarding who
- 55:27Speaker 1: Marco is, the role that he played in the War
- 55:33Speaker 1: of the Best, and overall, who white Beard is and
- 55:39Speaker 1: the values that he tried to instill in his crew.
- 55:44Speaker 1: I still remember this one dude who had betrayed him
- 55:47Speaker 1: and the way that he managed to talk him down,
- 55:50Speaker 1: which I just really appreciated because it was the sort
- 55:54Speaker 1: of thing that I was wondering if it was just
- 55:56Speaker 1: going to be this guy is so far gone that
- 55:59Speaker 1: he won't hear anything anybody says to him anymore. But
- 56:03Speaker 1: white Beard got through to him, and it was like
- 56:06Speaker 1: the dude was mad at Ace. I think it was
- 56:10Speaker 1: related to gold Roger. It was something regarding Ace being
- 56:14Speaker 1: gold Roger's son and this guy just being like, oh, well,
- 56:17Speaker 1: he clearly has to die then, And white Beard managed
- 56:22Speaker 1: to convince this guy like that's not that's not fair,
- 56:27Speaker 1: Like why would that solve anything? What does that do?
- 56:31Speaker 1: And the dude manages to talk his son down. I
- 56:36Speaker 1: put son in quotes because the whole thing with white
- 56:39Speaker 1: Beard is that he sees his entire crew as his
- 56:44Speaker 1: son's except for black Beard, who evidently had been a crewmate.
- 56:49Speaker 1: But after he killed a friend, as far as white
- 56:54Speaker 1: Beard was concerned, like, that's a wrap on that. And
- 56:58Speaker 1: white Beard, once he was killed, I can't remember what
- 57:02Speaker 1: his fruit was because he had a devil fruit power,
- 57:07Speaker 1: but I do remember that teach absorbs that power somehow.
- 57:13Speaker 1: I cannot remember what that power was, but he teaches
- 57:17Speaker 1: like It's very interesting how he was made into such
- 57:21Speaker 1: a scary villain and then really like back Bernard for
- 57:26Speaker 1: so long. You know, the implications of him being able
- 57:31Speaker 1: to take on all of these powers and just the
- 57:38Speaker 1: acceleration of his assault on everything. I really thought that's
- 57:44Speaker 1: who we were going to be up against sooner rather
- 57:47Speaker 1: than later, and instead we're getting him kind of like
- 57:52Speaker 1: put to the side. And obviously where we're going here
- 57:57Speaker 1: were I believe he's going to be back in the
- 58:00Speaker 1: mix fairly soon based on the context clues of all
- 58:04Speaker 1: of this. But it just surprises me at like, it's
- 58:09Speaker 1: just been so long and I don't know what I
- 58:12Speaker 1: was expecting, but I've kind of lost track of a
- 58:17Speaker 1: lot of what's going on with him by now. I
- 58:20Speaker 1: feel like I might need a bit more of a refresh.
- 58:22Speaker 1: Even Sarahim says, yeah, Roger killed a lot of the
- 58:28Speaker 1: guy's crew in a fight in the past. Tremor tremor
- 58:32Speaker 1: fruit the power to cause earthquakes. Okay, Okay, So let's
- 58:40Speaker 1: say I'm trying to see it make sure that there's
- 58:42Speaker 1: nothing in this particular bit that I'm forgetting, because, like
- 58:46Speaker 1: I said, a lot of flashbacks, and when you're scrubbing
- 58:50Speaker 1: through the episode fast, it's like they're mixed in in
- 58:55Speaker 1: such a way that it can be really hard to know.
- 59:00Speaker 1: We have a mention from Marco as well, because there's
- 59:03Speaker 1: that guy who is being sort of carted around by
- 59:09Speaker 1: his mom and being told to claim that he's Whitebeard's son,
- 59:15Speaker 1: and I appreciated that. When one of the guys is
- 59:19Speaker 1: asking Marco, like, do you think that's true? Marco is
- 59:24Speaker 1: fully like, I don't know, you know, Like he isn't
- 59:31Speaker 1: trying to be like, oh no, he never hook up
- 59:33Speaker 1: with her. He says something like, I never learned about
- 59:36Speaker 1: what his taste in women even was, so I couldn't
- 59:40Speaker 1: even say, based on like what she looks like or
- 59:42Speaker 1: who she was, whether he'd be interested or not, and
- 59:48Speaker 1: just sort of cops to the fact like she might
- 59:51Speaker 1: be telling the truth. But even if she is, what
- 59:55Speaker 1: they are clearly after is money and there isn't And
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I do not see a bitch like that believing us
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: when we tell her there's no money. So whether or
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: not they're telling the truth is sort of irrelevant to
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: whether they're going to be a pain in our asses,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: which I can guarantee they will be. And I'll just
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: say that I really appreciated him, like not denying any
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: of this due to some weird feeling of like defending
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: his mentor or anything like that. And sy I'm trying
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: to find this bit here where he's let's see, he
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: says that Whitebeard was kind of a cheap skate, but
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: nobody said anything to him because we all knew what
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: he was doing with the money he saved, because he
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: was sending it to the village, which is really cute.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Everybody is just aware, like he's not exactly a cheap skate,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: he's just got really specific priorities really, And then this
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: is when he brings up Weavil right right right this
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: broad I hope that, I hope that it's true and
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: that Weavil really is his son. It would be so strange,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and she, like the whole thing would have to be
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: whether or not Weavil breaks free of his mother's control,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: because obviously he seems like a better dude than she
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: is allowing him to be. So I am hoping that
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: he manages to become his own man at some point.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: We shall see. But yeah, that's uh, that's pretty much
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: it I'm going through. And yeah, I think that's most
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: of it. Marco just says to uh, cat Viper, Hey,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: if you see Lufier, are you going to will you
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: pass on a message for me? And I know y'all
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: are heading to Wanna what is it that you are
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: planning to do there? And this is when kat Viper
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: says Kaido and Marco is just like oh, he gets
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: a look on his face like uh yeah, that's just
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: not what And that's the end of the episode. It's
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: just him being like, oh, dear, so we shall see,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: we shall see. Floren says next time will be a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: wanna be looking forward to it me too. All Right, kids,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna wrap up. Thank you again so much for
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: hanging out with me. Appreciate you all, and until next
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: time to lou motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
