- 0:07Speaker 1: It's mediat Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arthan. Today
- 0:17Speaker 2: we're joined by Alyssa Chili Chester, Christine, Corey, Logan, Hansei
- 0:23Speaker 2: and Mackenzie. This is a ten round quiz show with
- 0:26Speaker 2: questions from meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing,
- 0:29Speaker 2: conservation and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater
- 0:32Speaker 2: will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of
- 0:36Speaker 2: the winners choosing and for the stat of the week
- 0:38Speaker 2: this week, we're looking at the number one hundred and
- 0:41Speaker 2: twenty three. That's how many combined games today's players have
- 0:45Speaker 2: been in without ever winning. As because this this is
- 0:49Speaker 2: a special show and one that we're calling the Jabbroni Game.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Let me explain. In professional wrestling, there used to be
- 0:57Speaker 2: wrestlers whose job was to just show up and lose.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Those wrestlers would go city to city each night and
- 1:04Speaker 2: collect a paycheck for getting pinned by these stars like
- 1:07Speaker 2: Haul Cogan and Ultimate Warrior.
- 1:09Speaker 3: They were initially.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Referred to as jobbers, but eventually the industry started calling
- 1:15Speaker 2: them Jabebroni's. The term became so popular that dictionary dot
- 1:18Speaker 2: Com even has a definition for it, which is quote
- 1:21Speaker 2: a wrestler whose purpose is to lose matches in order
- 1:25Speaker 2: to build up the status and fame of the headliners.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So today we're celebrating the jabebronis of meat Eatter Trivia.
- 1:32Speaker 2: A collection of players who show up with a great
- 1:35Speaker 2: attitude even though they know they'll never pin Brody or
- 1:39Speaker 2: Randall or Steve. But after today's game, one of them
- 1:42Speaker 2: will earn their first victory.
- 1:44Speaker 4: If it were wrestling, you would, would you would? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 4: I already pinned Stevens.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Oh okay, he tried wrestling me.
- 1:52Speaker 5: So every time you send the invites out and for
- 1:54Speaker 5: the games before this, did you just go into that
- 1:57Speaker 5: thinking of like, oh, who do I want to lose today?
- 2:00Speaker 2: No?
- 2:00Speaker 6: Yeah, And I haven't gotten my paycheck for yeah, out
- 2:02Speaker 6: of one hundred and twenty three games, I'm wondering where
- 2:05Speaker 6: those one hundred and twenty three paychecks have gone.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I could tell you Chester is responsible for forty of
- 2:12Speaker 2: those one hundred and twenty three games.
- 2:14Speaker 3: So you're the biggest loser, to be.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Fair to Chester, though, the smallest he'd win in wrestling though,
- 2:21Speaker 2: But Chester did win the Billings Live event, which was
- 2:25Speaker 2: four questions. They were all about Montana for the purpose
- 2:28Speaker 2: of today's show, though, Chester, yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 7: I kind of stopped, like, you know, feeling bad. Oh yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 7: good before I just get defeated. But as the list
- 2:39Speaker 7: pointed out, you either know him or you don't because.
- 2:43Speaker 5: You read all those Reddit book pages you can you
- 2:45Speaker 5: can't read the reddit stuff.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I never do that.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Chester not a Jabbroni in wrestling, but is in meat
- 2:52Speaker 2: Eater tribute, So Jabroni's how do you feel about your
- 2:54Speaker 2: chances today? Is it Is it comforting to know that
- 2:57Speaker 2: there's no Brodie or randall Er Steve here? Or is
- 2:59Speaker 2: there like more pre sure?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Now I didn't know we're gonna get insulted the whole time.
- 3:05Speaker 2: It okay, Logan doesn't feel great.
- 3:07Speaker 8: I was more so nervous about coming in if like
- 3:09Speaker 8: if I got the lowest score.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And I well, Phil is usually kind enough to leave
- 3:20Speaker 2: you off the leaderboard near the end of the game.
- 3:22Speaker 3: So yeah, well, now we have a visual leaderboard. So it's.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Now here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment. If you have
- 3:30Speaker 2: a Trivia related question for our crew, send it to
- 3:33Speaker 2: Trivia at the Media dot Com with the subject line,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I f a you Rebecca wants to know. Do the
- 3:38Speaker 2: players have any rituals before games? Is there anything they
- 3:41Speaker 2: do to study? Do they have preferred seats at the table?
- 3:45Speaker 2: The seats at the table thing? There's always people like
- 3:48Speaker 2: tiptoe around what chairs they should take, right, because I
- 3:50Speaker 2: feel like Brody and Randall they kind of have their spots. Alyssa,
- 3:54Speaker 2: you're in I think a new spot for you today, right, Okay,
- 4:01Speaker 2: she's in Seth's chair. Mackenzie has taken Randall's chair. I
- 4:05Speaker 2: think we've got Hansi over here in like Brody or
- 4:09Speaker 2: Steve's chair. Does anybody do anything to study before met
- 4:12Speaker 2: eater trivia?
- 4:12Speaker 5: No?
- 4:13Speaker 8: I have before. I've looked at like maps of the
- 4:17Speaker 8: river okay, waterways?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Uh huh?
- 4:19Speaker 8: Has it helped me out?
- 4:20Speaker 2: What's what's like a weakness in your map? Looking at
- 4:23Speaker 2: geography wise, it's like East coast for sure.
- 4:26Speaker 8: I know nothing about the East Coast.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I think this room in general, medieater trivia players in
- 4:30Speaker 2: general in our Bozeman office, anything east of the Mississippi River. Yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 2: you don't know much.
- 4:36Speaker 8: Mountain men are also hard, Tom.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Now we have some housekeeping to get to. In a
- 4:40Speaker 2: previous game of trivia, I asked a question about the
- 4:42Speaker 2: genus of plants commonly used in food plots that includes
- 4:46Speaker 2: turnips and radishes. The correct answer was Brassica's, which I
- 4:49Speaker 2: got from the National Deer Association, but about five listeners
- 4:53Speaker 2: wrote in to correct me, saying that those are in
- 4:55Speaker 2: the family Brasica, not in the genus Brasica. There is
- 4:59Speaker 2: a brask genus that includes turnips and radishes that includes turnips,
- 5:04Speaker 2: but radishes are in the genus Rafanis. So it's the
- 5:08Speaker 2: Braska family that includes turnips and radishes, not the Braska genus.
- 5:12Speaker 2: That mistake was a Jabbroni move by me. The Shelby
- 5:17Speaker 2: index for today is a five, so I'm putting us
- 5:19Speaker 2: on perfect score alert. With that, we're onto the game
- 5:23Speaker 2: of trivia. Play the drop phil, Look, I need to
- 5:29Speaker 2: know what I stand and wind everything. How's that? Just
- 5:33Speaker 2: tend to win everything?
- 5:41Speaker 9: Demon Suckers.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Question one.
- 5:45Speaker 2: The topic is public lands, and this will be multiple choice.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Which of these national parks gets the most visitors? Is
- 5:54Speaker 2: it Yosemite Crater, Lake Arches, or Big Bend. Which of
- 6:02Speaker 2: these national parks gets the most visitors? Yosemite Crater, Lake,
- 6:09Speaker 2: Arches or Big Bend. It's not the most visitors of
- 6:13Speaker 2: all the national parks. It's the most visitors of these
- 6:17Speaker 2: four choices, Yosemite, Crater Lake, Arches, and Big Bend.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Spencer.
- 6:23Speaker 10: We were all curious before this round if you were
- 6:26Speaker 10: going to take it easy on us today or if
- 6:28Speaker 10: these are just the same questions.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I tried to get the Shelby index to a five,
- 6:32Speaker 2: and I accomplish that, so I'd say they're may be
- 6:34Speaker 2: slightly easier than normal, but it's still a normal game
- 6:37Speaker 2: of trivia. If players score well, they should still feel
- 6:40Speaker 2: good about that. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead
- 6:45Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Alyssa and Corey and
- 6:48Speaker 2: Christine and Mackenzie. The entire room says Yosemite.
- 6:53Speaker 3: They got it. The correct answer.
- 6:54Speaker 11: Is it was the very popular national park in America,
- 7:03Speaker 11: with four million visitors each year.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Arches is twenty first with one point five million people,
- 7:09Speaker 2: Crater Lake is thirty seventh with six hundred thousand people,
- 7:13Speaker 2: and Big Bend is fortieth with five hundred thousand people.
- 7:16Speaker 2: The National Park System had three hundred and twenty five
- 7:19Speaker 2: million visitors in twenty twenty three. Has anybody beended those
- 7:23Speaker 2: four national parks Yosemite, Crater, Lake Arches, Big Bend.
- 7:28Speaker 8: All of them, think they've been to them all.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yosemite was Yosemite as busy as the sixth busiest national park.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Did it feel like that?
- 7:36Speaker 9: It was really busy. I actually have a story about
- 7:39Speaker 9: Yosemite in college. I always wanted to go there. And
- 7:43Speaker 9: freshman year at college, the professor had like a question
- 7:46Speaker 9: every time you come in. He'd be like, I have
- 7:47Speaker 9: a new question for you. And the question on the
- 7:49Speaker 9: first day of class was what national park do you
- 7:51Speaker 9: want to visit on your bucket list? And I was like, Oh,
- 7:54Speaker 9: I've always wanted to visit Yazamite National Park. And the
- 7:59Speaker 9: next class, the question was what's something you've learned that
- 8:01Speaker 9: you didn't know before? And I learned that Yazamai is
- 8:05Speaker 9: pronounced Yosebody.
- 8:07Speaker 3: And then you went there, and then I went there.
- 8:09Speaker 9: Yeah, and it was very busy to answer your question.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Question two the topic is hunting. This next great question
- 8:14Speaker 2: is via Jordan Simpson. What Shawnee word means white rump
- 8:19Speaker 2: and is often used as a synonym for elk. What
- 8:27Speaker 2: Shawnee word means quote, white rump, and is often used
- 8:32Speaker 2: as a synonym for elk.
- 8:34Speaker 8: Chili must have really known this one.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Chili and Chester and Corey are very confident. All right, Logan,
- 8:40Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 8:42Speaker 6: I think so?
- 8:43Speaker 2: Okay, Logan is confident as well. Hansie and the girls
- 8:48Speaker 2: not so much. What Shawnee word means white rump and
- 8:53Speaker 2: is often used as a synonym for elk.
- 8:57Speaker 6: I should hope Corey gets this one right.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He's got a elk an.
- 9:00Speaker 12: Tattoo on his arm.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I'm working on getting an elk.
- 9:03Speaker 3: But next.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Are you gonna put the elk berr on my stomach?
- 9:09Speaker 5: Oh?
- 9:11Speaker 2: Bomer? What Shawnee word means white rump and is often
- 9:20Speaker 2: used as a synonym for elk. Is that your only tattoo?
- 9:24Speaker 3: Corey? It is?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah, You're gonna add a second one? Ever you think
- 9:28Speaker 2: or just sticking with the elk.
- 9:29Speaker 10: I've always thought about it, but I mean, nothing's come
- 9:32Speaker 10: to me. Yeah, you know I want to put on
- 9:34Speaker 10: my body for the rest of my life.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? M Yeah, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 9:41Speaker 3: We have a lessen.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Corey and Christine say Mackenzie's a stag. Chili Logan Chester
- 9:50Speaker 2: and HANSI say wappa t they got it. The correct
- 9:53Speaker 2: answer is wappa Ta. Early settlers often referred to elk
- 9:58Speaker 2: as America's red deer, Canada stag, round horned stag, and
- 10:03Speaker 2: stag of the Americas. They also called them by the
- 10:06Speaker 2: Shawnee word wapati, as well as the name that eventually stuck,
- 10:10Speaker 2: which is elk. Elk was the accepted name by the
- 10:13Speaker 2: time Lewis and Clark set sail, which they referred to
- 10:17Speaker 2: five hundred and seventy times in their journals.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Does anybody know about the elk in Mongolia? Aren't there
- 10:23Speaker 5: the only elk with the name wapaty like in its
- 10:25Speaker 5: official name.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of confusion between North America
- 10:30Speaker 2: and Europe, like I think our elk are their moose
- 10:33Speaker 2: or moose are there? It's something like that's confused, but
- 10:36Speaker 2: both continents have messed each other up in the naming.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Here's question three. The topic is conservation. This next great
- 10:43Speaker 2: question is via John Schlessinger. This conservation group is named
- 10:48Speaker 2: after a wildlife artist who made four hundred and thirty
- 10:52Speaker 2: five life size paintings of North American birds.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Is question three.
- 11:01Speaker 2: The topic is conservation This conservation group is named after
- 11:07Speaker 2: a wildlife artist who made four hundred and thirty five
- 11:11Speaker 2: life size paintings of North American birds, Alyssa. Do you
- 11:16Speaker 2: have this one right? Okay, you have it all right.
- 11:20Speaker 2: We're looking for the name of the conservation group and
- 11:22Speaker 2: it's named after a wildlife artist who made four hundred
- 11:26Speaker 2: and thirty five life size paintings of North American birds, Alyssa.
- 11:32Speaker 2: The only one with an answer so far.
- 11:35Speaker 8: I'm cruising for a bruiser. This is not gonna be good.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Chester and Hansie joining a LISTA now with an answer.
- 11:43Speaker 2: You need to tell me the name of the conservation group.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Was this a fans the middle question? This is via
- 11:52Speaker 2: John Schlessing? Or does that help you? Chick?
- 11:54Speaker 7: John?
- 11:56Speaker 3: No, it does not. I just Hanse, do you have one?
- 12:00Speaker 2: Hansie and Chester are now comparing answers with oh and
- 12:03Speaker 2: Logan saw something? Okays agree with each other?
- 12:10Speaker 3: Could you move that board just like Joe K.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Chester's nodding his head yes, him and him and Hansei
- 12:16Speaker 2: agree on the answer. This conservation group. It's named after
- 12:24Speaker 2: a wildlife artist who made four hundred and thirty five
- 12:27Speaker 2: life size paintings of North American birds. Glad Randall's not
- 12:34Speaker 2: in this room.
- 12:35Speaker 12: You get this.
- 12:36Speaker 2: One's gotta be Bob Ross, Alyssa, Chester and Hansie the
- 12:40Speaker 2: only folks with an answer. Doesn't count right spelling, It
- 12:49Speaker 2: does not count.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I don't even know.
- 12:54Speaker 8: I'm usually corny.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Christine Chili logan, you're run not of time, guys, give up.
- 13:01Speaker 5: I'm a.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Christine is done writing. We will flip over the boards.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 13:10Speaker 2: We have, Alyssa saying Audubon Society. Christine says, Kelsey's Mom Foundation. Okay,
- 13:26Speaker 2: Mackenzie says Audubon Society. Chile without an answer, Logan without
- 13:30Speaker 2: an answer. Chester says autobond, which is is that the
- 13:35Speaker 2: freeway in Germany that doesn't have a speed limit? Is
- 13:37Speaker 2: that what that's called? And Hansi says Audubon Society. They
- 13:42Speaker 2: got it, and we'll give it to Chester for Audubon.
- 13:45Speaker 2: It's the National Audubon Society.
- 13:49Speaker 3: John James Audubon.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Is one of America's first and most prolific wildlife artists.
- 13:55Speaker 2: His seminal work was painting one thousand and sixty five
- 13:58Speaker 2: birds from four hundred and eighty nine species for his
- 14:01Speaker 2: the Birds of America collection, but the group that is
- 14:05Speaker 2: named after him has distanced themselves from Autubon in recent
- 14:08Speaker 2: years due to revelations that he committed academic fraud, plagiarism,
- 14:13Speaker 2: and owned slaves. Question four. The topic is cooking. This
- 14:18Speaker 2: next great question is via Ali Spangler. The spruce Eats
- 14:23Speaker 2: describes this eight letter word as a quote culinary technique
- 14:27Speaker 2: that secures the bird's wings and legs tightly to its
- 14:31Speaker 2: body using twine. The spruce Eats describes this eight letter
- 14:39Speaker 2: word as a culinary technique that secures the bird's wings
- 14:44Speaker 2: and legs tightly to its body using twine. This is
- 14:49Speaker 2: question four. Spelling does not matter that I've told you
- 14:54Speaker 2: you need eight letters, so hopefully your answer also has
- 14:58Speaker 2: eight letters. Hansey is confident, Logan, you have this one
- 15:11Speaker 2: right potentially.
- 15:12Speaker 13: You know, when like a word comes in your head
- 15:14Speaker 13: and you use it and you're like, I don't really
- 15:15Speaker 13: know where that word came from, but.
- 15:17Speaker 3: It's like in my head.
- 15:18Speaker 2: You think you've used this one.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Hopefully, hopefully this is the right word.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Okay. Hansei said that he has it right, right, Hans,
- 15:24Speaker 2: I think so, okay, Hans. He was saying before the
- 15:27Speaker 2: game of trivia that if there's ever a topic of wine,
- 15:30Speaker 2: he will win. He is a what is a small ya? No?
- 15:34Speaker 6: No, I know I'd like to pursue that someday, but okay, no,
- 15:37Speaker 6: I'm amateur.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I'm just an amateur. Yeah, you know, A.
- 15:41Speaker 8: What we should host a meet or wine tasting with
- 15:44Speaker 8: wild game?
- 15:47Speaker 2: I won't say no. The spruce eat describes this eight
- 15:52Speaker 2: letter word an ordinary technique that secures the bird's wings
- 15:57Speaker 2: and legs tightly to its body using twine.
- 16:01Speaker 8: I feel like this is so obvious and I'm gonna
- 16:04Speaker 8: be so frustrated when we all turn over our boards.
- 16:08Speaker 8: Can you tell me if over time the Shelby index
- 16:11Speaker 8: as in, like, I guess your wife's skills have gotten better?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Do you think gotten better? Question? I don't know. I
- 16:20Speaker 2: feel like it's still accurate gotten better. She has the
- 16:23Speaker 2: most exposure to my brain, so she'll know, like when
- 16:25Speaker 2: I've just watched a documentary on whales, like some dish
- 16:30Speaker 2: that I just made, you know, two weeks ago at home,
- 16:33Speaker 2: so that gives her a big advantage. I don't know
- 16:36Speaker 2: that she's gotten better. I would say she's still just
- 16:39Speaker 2: as good, and the Shelby index is still just as accurate.
- 16:42Speaker 6: Do you have the same amount of leniency with her
- 16:44Speaker 6: answers as you do like Randall's or Brodie's.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Oh more, Yeah, I mean she gets half points. No
- 16:50Speaker 2: one in the podcast studio has ever received half point
- 16:54Speaker 2: So yes, she she has more leniency do you give her?
- 17:00Speaker 2: She takes her time, but oftentimes she like knows that
- 17:04Speaker 2: she's not going to know it, and so we move
- 17:05Speaker 2: on very quickly. So she'll just give a frustrated answer
- 17:09Speaker 2: in that sense. Is everybody right now, go ahead and
- 17:17Speaker 2: reveal your answers. We have Alyssa saying smatchcock, straight jacket,
- 17:25Speaker 2: Christine and Mackenzie and Chile without an answer, Logan says trusting,
- 17:30Speaker 2: Chester without an answer. Hansie says trusting. The correct answer
- 17:37Speaker 2: is trusting Logan and Hansie got it right.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Can we give a half point to Corey for straight jacket?
- 17:49Speaker 2: The purpose of trusting a piece of meat is to
- 17:52Speaker 2: help it cook more evenly. It's a commonly used technique
- 17:55Speaker 2: when cooking turkeys, ducks, geese, and roast. For a venicson
- 17:59Speaker 2: recipe that needs trusting, watch Col's video on the medeater
- 18:03Speaker 2: dot com called how to make a French Cut Venison
- 18:06Speaker 2: rib Roast. Question five. The topic is fishing. A backlash
- 18:12Speaker 2: of tangled line in a bait caster reel is often
- 18:16Speaker 2: referred to by this two word nickname. Okay. Alyssa is
- 18:23Speaker 2: familiar with the nickname for a backlash of tangled line
- 18:29Speaker 2: in a bait caster reel that's referred to by this
- 18:33Speaker 2: two word nickname. Chester. Do you have this one right?
- 18:36Speaker 3: Yes?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Okay. Chester and Alyssa are confident. Hansey, you have this
- 18:40Speaker 2: one right. Corey looks like he has it right.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Jillie, you got this one. I believe a big fish
- 18:46Speaker 3: you have this one?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Who refers to you by that Oka?
- 18:54Speaker 10: I feel like it's not limited to just a bait casting, don't.
- 18:57Speaker 2: That's where it's maybe the most prolific, though big casters
- 19:01Speaker 2: are tough.
- 19:02Speaker 6: Man up.
- 19:04Speaker 2: A backlash of tangled line and a baked caster reel
- 19:07Speaker 2: is often referred to by this two word nickname. This
- 19:13Speaker 2: is question five. We'll get a scoreboard update from filled
- 19:15Speaker 2: the engineers.
- 19:18Speaker 8: Am I really before I should know this?
- 19:27Speaker 6: Everyone's you've picked up a fly.
- 19:29Speaker 10: That's when it usually happens.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Chester and Corey are applying some pressure to.
- 19:36Speaker 8: I feel like that's what my dad called it growing up.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Is everybody ready?
- 19:42Speaker 3: Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 19:44Speaker 2: We have a listen. Listen saying rats nest, Christine saying
- 19:53Speaker 2: bad snag, Mackenzie says ship show, Chili says birds nest,
- 20:00Speaker 2: Logan says rats nest, shird's nest, hans the bird's nest.
- 20:05Speaker 2: The correct answers are birds nest or rats nest. Will
- 20:08Speaker 2: give as either one.
- 20:10Speaker 8: I'd like to thank my dad for never calling it
- 20:12Speaker 8: the correct name and just cussing.
- 20:15Speaker 2: A bird came from a bird's nest. Occurs while casting
- 20:20Speaker 2: when your lure slows down but the spool keeps spinning.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Usually it's the result of user air, but can sometimes
- 20:27Speaker 2: be a mechanical issue due to a faulty drag or break.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Although some birds nest can be fixed by pulling the
- 20:33Speaker 2: line or reeling the line, they often require some nifty
- 20:37Speaker 2: knife work. Phil, we're halfway through the game of trivia.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Give us a scoreboard update.
- 20:41Speaker 8: I don't want to know.
- 20:44Speaker 6: There.
- 20:44Speaker 2: We are.
- 20:46Speaker 13: All right, Hey, everyone's doing pretty well. You got Christine
- 20:51Speaker 13: and Mackenzie at two points apiece unlessa Corey and Chili
- 20:54Speaker 13: have three, Logan and Chester have four and in first
- 20:57Speaker 13: place with a perfect game.
- 20:58Speaker 4: It's all right, one of us is going to win here.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Question six the topic is cooking. What's the Greek yogurt
- 21:18Speaker 2: based dip that's made with cucumber, garlic, lemon, dill, and mint.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Spelling does not count this question six. The topic is cooking,
- 21:30Speaker 2: what's the Greek yogurt based dip that's made with cucumber, garlic, lemon, dill,
- 21:36Speaker 2: and mint. Cory in your guiding days, did you see
- 21:40Speaker 2: some bad rats nests on your boat? For sure?
- 21:43Speaker 10: Yeah, but I was just a fly fishing guide, so
- 21:46Speaker 10: that's where I meant.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I mean it happens in.
- 21:48Speaker 6: All Sure, happens a lot at the end of the
- 21:50Speaker 6: rod on a fly rod.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I feel like.
- 21:55Speaker 6: I got one on Sunday.
- 21:59Speaker 3: How that end?
- 22:00Speaker 4: Uh?
- 22:01Speaker 6: You know, like all birds nest and with some clipping?
- 22:05Speaker 2: Okay, yeah rats?
- 22:07Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 8: I'd like to know the average amount of time that
- 22:10Speaker 8: everyone spends on it before they just clip it, or
- 22:12Speaker 8: if anyone's gotten to the point where they're just smart
- 22:15Speaker 8: enough to clip it before even trying.
- 22:17Speaker 6: Sometimes you just like you're just like locked into trying
- 22:20Speaker 6: before even though you know the answer, you just like
- 22:24Speaker 6: are frustrated, like.
- 22:25Speaker 8: Maybe this is gonna be the time that I get
- 22:26Speaker 8: it right.
- 22:26Speaker 12: Yeah, I think we saw a few rats nests in
- 22:33Speaker 12: here and birds nests, so uh yeah, maybe there's some
- 22:36Speaker 12: geography involved.
- 22:40Speaker 6: I've never heard rats nest either.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 2: What's the Greek yogurt based dip that's made with cucumber, garlic, lemon,
- 22:48Speaker 2: dill and mint. Looks like, HANSI will keep the perfect
- 22:51Speaker 2: game going, Chili and Chest. You're not as confident, you boys,
- 22:56Speaker 2: give up.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I feel like I'm gonna be kicking myself.
- 22:59Speaker 6: Yes, it's a cucumber, garlic, lemon, dill, and mint sauce.
- 23:03Speaker 2: That is everybody read, Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 23:09Speaker 2: We have Melissa with her board upside down in our

- 23:20Speaker 2: without an answer. Logan says to Heiny. Hansie says to
- 23:25Speaker 2: Zeke the correct answer to Zeke, we're not going to
- 23:29Speaker 2: give it to Logan to Heine is very different. Isn't
- 23:33Speaker 2: that like a spice that you like?
- 23:36Speaker 13: It's like like.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Clarify the spelling is and you guys watch your board
- 23:45Speaker 2: to tell me if you got it right.
- 23:46Speaker 4: T z A t.
- 23:50Speaker 8: Z I K I do I get an extra point for.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Don't get an extra point, but will give you a
- 23:59Speaker 2: give special points and Hans spell did you spell it right?
- 24:04Speaker 2: As well?
- 24:06Speaker 5: Okay, Nikolsa is five for five on her board being
- 24:09Speaker 5: upside down.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Yeah once, come on.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Tzeke was invented by the Ottoman Empire hundreds of years ago.
- 24:18Speaker 2: According to one Greek chef, more garlic in Greece is
- 24:21Speaker 2: used to make to zeke than any other dish in
- 24:24Speaker 2: the nation's cuisine. For a recipe that used it, check
- 24:28Speaker 2: out Danielle Preuitt's article on the medeater dot com called
- 24:31Speaker 2: Venison Smash Euros. Question seven, the topic is hunting. This
- 24:35Speaker 2: next great question is via Nick Dobrick. What state requires
- 24:40Speaker 2: non residents to have a guide when hunting big game
- 24:44Speaker 2: in designated wilderness areas?
- 24:48Speaker 8: Hopeful?
- 24:50Speaker 2: What state requires non residents to have a guide when
- 24:53Speaker 2: hunting big game in designated wilderness areas?
- 24:59Speaker 3: Many of our players.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Look confident, but not Hansei, who has a perfect game
- 25:03Speaker 2: through six questions?
- 25:08Speaker 3: Do you know this one or you're just going to
- 25:10Speaker 3: be making a guess?
- 25:11Speaker 2: I'm guessing what state requires non residents to have a
- 25:16Speaker 2: guide when hunting big game in designated wilderness? Areas a
- 25:23Speaker 2: fairly confident room. Mackenzie said she knows this one. Chili,
- 25:27Speaker 2: you know this one in the book. Okay, Chester, Corey,
- 25:31Speaker 2: I'm also confident.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Christine.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Do you have this one?
- 25:33Speaker 7: Right?
- 25:34Speaker 13: Right?
- 25:35Speaker 2: Do you have this? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and
- 25:40Speaker 2: reveal your answers. We have Alissa saying Alaska. Corey says Wyoming,
- 25:46Speaker 2: Christine Alaska, Mackenzie Wyoming, Chili Alaska, Logan Alaska, Chester Alaska,
- 25:54Speaker 2: Hansi Alaska. The correct answer is Ioming. Mackenzie and Corey
- 26:03Speaker 2: get that one right. Hansi's perfect game is gone focus
- 26:08Speaker 2: fullshit areas totaling more than three million acres of public land.
- 26:15Speaker 2: A non resident can hike, camp, and fish these areas
- 26:18Speaker 2: on their own, but if they're hunting, they're required to
- 26:21Speaker 2: be with a guide or resident companion. Brody Henderson declared
- 26:25Speaker 2: it one of America's worst game laws, and a twenty
- 26:28Speaker 2: nineteen article titled the West's Worst hunting Law, which you
- 26:32Speaker 2: can read on the meadeater dot com.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Question eight.
- 26:35Speaker 2: The topic is fishing. This is our listener question of
- 26:38Speaker 2: the Week, which was won by Derek Antosh for setting
- 26:41Speaker 2: this great question. Derek is going to get a board
- 26:43Speaker 2: game signed by the crew. If you want a chance
- 26:46Speaker 2: to win the listener Question of the Week, then send
- 26:48Speaker 2: your question to Trivia at the meadeater dot com. What's
- 26:52Speaker 2: the common name for decompression sickness which can happen to
- 26:56Speaker 2: spear fishermen who rise from deep water too quickly? This
- 27:03Speaker 2: is question eight. The topic is fishing, and it's our
- 27:06Speaker 2: listener question of the week. What's the common name for
- 27:10Speaker 2: decompression sickness which can happen to spearfishermen who rise from
- 27:15Speaker 2: deep water too quickly?
- 27:17Speaker 8: Has anyone in here ever had that?
- 27:21Speaker 2: I don't think we have a lot of spear fishermen
- 27:22Speaker 2: in this room.
- 27:26Speaker 14: We got the Old South to Wah a couple of
- 27:29Speaker 14: weeks ago.
- 27:29Speaker 5: For those of you who don't know, that's the barracuda
- 27:33Speaker 5: we've done.
- 27:33Speaker 9: That was your first time spearfishing? Was that your first
- 27:36Speaker 9: time spearfishing?
- 27:38Speaker 2: Okay, you've witnessed somebody have decompression sickness? And how did
- 27:47Speaker 2: that go?
- 27:49Speaker 4: Cal?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Okay, you just lightheaded.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Basically not there just a little bit, but it wasn't
- 27:58Speaker 7: It wasn't bad.
- 27:59Speaker 8: How long did take from like come back to normal?
- 28:01Speaker 13: Not long?
- 28:02Speaker 10: Like?

- 28:18Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Oh, Chili, the the only certified spear
- 28:23Speaker 2: fisherman may not have this.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Okay, I don't know names, I don't know.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Go ahead, you reveal your answers.
- 28:34Speaker 2: We have Alyssa saying death, Corey and Mackenzie say the benz,
- 28:43Speaker 2: Chili without an answer, Logan and Chester and Hansie saying
- 28:48Speaker 2: the bends.
- 28:48Speaker 3: They got it.
- 28:49Speaker 2: The correct answer is the benz or barrow trauma?
- 28:52Speaker 3: And how do you spell it?
- 28:54Speaker 14: B E D b E N D S because I
- 28:59Speaker 14: know myself pretty well and that's not something that so
- 29:03Speaker 14: don't see myself ever having to retain that.
- 29:05Speaker 2: The benz is a potentially life threatening condition that occurs
- 29:09Speaker 2: when dissolved gases form bubbles in your bloodstream during rapid decompression.
- 29:15Speaker 2: It happens when someone moves quickly from an area of
- 29:18Speaker 2: high pressure to low pressure, such as a diver coming
- 29:21Speaker 2: to the surface too fast, or when flying in an
- 29:24Speaker 2: unpressurized aircraft. It's estimated that about a dozen people die
- 29:29Speaker 2: each year from Barrow trauma. Phil, we have two questions left.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Give us a leader board update.
- 29:34Speaker 13: I should have been prepared for this.
- 29:35Speaker 9: Here we go.
- 29:36Speaker 13: Whoop, all right, shit, Jilly here in last place three points,
- 29:44Speaker 13: so sorry, Alyssa. Christine you have four, Mackenzie and Logan
- 29:48Speaker 13: and Chester all have five points apiece. Corey has six
- 29:51Speaker 13: and still in first place seven points.
- 29:53Speaker 3: It's HANSI questions.
- 29:57Speaker 2: HANSI to slip up. We have a few players is
- 30:00Speaker 2: left in the game. This question on the topic is conservation.
- 30:03Speaker 2: The Natural History Museum describes the one hundred and sixty
- 30:07Speaker 2: mile demilitarized zone between these two countries as a quote
- 30:13Speaker 2: haven for rare animals. Huh, your answer will be two countries.
- 30:21Speaker 2: The Natural History Museum describes the one hundred and sixty
- 30:25Speaker 2: mile demilitarized zone between these two countries as a haven
- 30:31Speaker 2: for rare animals. So your answer will be two countries.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Chili looks very confident.
- 30:38Speaker 5: Yeah, most confident I've ever been cotton.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Okay, the History Museum.
- 30:46Speaker 3: There's a hit from Chili.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 30:51Speaker 2: The Natural History Museum describes the one hundred and sixty
- 30:55Speaker 2: mile demilitarized zone between these two countries as quote a
- 31:01Speaker 2: haven for rare animals. Chili is confident, and he's the
- 31:06Speaker 2: only one. Corey has joined in with an answer, Corey,
- 31:08Speaker 2: do you think you have this one right?
- 31:10Speaker 3: That's a really good guess.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Okay, we need Corey to have a really good guess
- 31:13Speaker 2: and get this one right. We need Hansey to get
- 31:15Speaker 2: it wrong to tie them up going into our final question,
- 31:21Speaker 2: or we gonna have Hansey get the last two wrong
- 31:23Speaker 2: and we have a handful of players with five points
- 31:25Speaker 2: who could come back and catch him as well.
- 31:27Speaker 3: That would be fun.
- 31:28Speaker 5: There's definitely different ways you could phrase this question.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Chili, you don't need to help out your players anymore here, No,
- 31:36Speaker 2: let him go on, please.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Well, okay, I'll cover it out.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Okay. This is the Natural History Museum describes the one
- 31:46Speaker 2: hundred and sixty mile demilitarized zone between these two countries
- 31:51Speaker 2: as a haven for rare animals. The topic is conservation.
- 31:55Speaker 2: This is question nine, and Chili's been there. Chile Is
- 32:00Speaker 2: says he's been one of these places.
- 32:03Speaker 8: Everybody, I don't even know these two countries each other.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Alyssa
- 32:12Speaker 2: saying Russia. I don't even want to say North and
- 32:18Speaker 2: South Korea.
- 32:19Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Christine says North and South Korea says and Usbekistan. Chile
- 32:28Speaker 2: says North Korea, South Korea. Logan north Korea, South Korea.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Chester says Russia and the USA. Kanzi says North and
- 32:41Speaker 2: South Korea. The two countries are North Korea and South Korea.
- 32:47Speaker 2: It's our players did pretty well. The Korean DMZ was
- 32:52Speaker 2: established in nineteen fifty three as a buffer between the
- 32:56Speaker 2: two feuding countries. The area that's one hundred and sixty
- 32:59Speaker 2: miles long and two and a half miles wide is
- 33:02Speaker 2: largely void of humans, which has in turn made it
- 33:05Speaker 2: a wildlife sanctuary. It's estimated that over one hundred endangered
- 33:09Speaker 2: species live in this strip of land, including musk deer,
- 33:13Speaker 2: Manchurian trout, red crowned red crowned cranes, Korean fox, and,
- 33:18Speaker 2: according to some reports, the Siberian tiger and a moor leopard.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Chile.
- 33:23Speaker 2: What do you have to tell us about South Korea
- 33:26Speaker 2: and North Korea their border?
- 33:27Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I think if well, a lot of people
- 33:30Speaker 5: got the question right. But if you would have said DMZ,
- 33:32Speaker 5: I think more people would have got the question right.
- 33:34Speaker 5: But you also could refer to the DMZ as a
- 33:36Speaker 5: thirty eighth parallel, which is it's the same spot, that's
- 33:39Speaker 5: the same line, but there for the thirtieth parallel.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I think we had five players get it right.
- 33:45Speaker 5: But for all you losers at home, they're gonna get
- 33:46Speaker 5: that wrong.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Now here's an answer. Here's an answer review for our
- 33:51Speaker 2: listeners at home. One was Yosemite, two Wapati three, National
- 33:56Speaker 2: Audubon Society, four, Trusting, five Birds nest Or Rats Nest
- 34:02Speaker 2: six to Zeke seven, Wyoming, eight, the Bens, and nine
- 34:07Speaker 2: North and South Korea. Question ten, we have Hansey leading
- 34:12Speaker 2: Cory by one. They are the only players left in
- 34:16Speaker 2: the game.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Question ten, the topic is gear.
- 34:20Speaker 15: What does m o A stand for as in a
- 34:24Speaker 15: scopes m o A. Oh no, again, we need Corey
- 34:31Speaker 15: to get this right, Hansey to get this wrong to
- 34:35Speaker 15: face to force overtime. Hansey with eight correct answers Cory
- 34:40Speaker 15: with seven. The topic is gear what does m o
- 34:45Speaker 15: A shot.
- 34:49Speaker 12: M o A?
- 34:51Speaker 3: Corey, do you have this one right?
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 34:53Speaker 3: I oh, Corey has it right.
- 34:55Speaker 8: Hansei.
- 34:56Speaker 2: We're gonna need have a good guess for what m
- 35:00Speaker 2: oh a stands for. Chili is also confident as well
- 35:05Speaker 2: as Chester and Logan Alsten, do you have this one
- 35:07Speaker 2: right as well? Okay, what's that board saying the suck
- 35:16Speaker 2: at Chili? HANSI m o a Logan? You just naturally
- 35:25Speaker 2: like that?
- 35:25Speaker 13: Or you just I spent a lot of time in
- 35:27Speaker 13: the sun jealous.
- 35:29Speaker 9: I was wondering how hard I gotta try? Right now?
- 35:34Speaker 2: Hansie, how are we doing?
- 35:36Speaker 6: Not great spencer?
- 35:38Speaker 3: Not great hand? Have you been to overtime before?
- 35:42Speaker 9: Uh?
- 35:43Speaker 2: Kind of it was in that to qualify for the
- 35:46Speaker 2: med Eater Trivia champion That was kind of Corey. Have
- 35:49Speaker 2: you been to overtime? Yes?
- 35:51Speaker 3: You have?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Okay, do you remember the question? Do you remember where
- 35:55Speaker 2: you came up at?
- 35:56Speaker 10: I don't remember the question at all, but I got
- 35:58Speaker 10: it right? Oh you got yeah the championship round.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Oh okay, So you've both been to overtime. I just
- 36:04Speaker 2: qualify for the Media Trivia Championship in twenty twenty three.
- 36:10Speaker 2: What does A stand for? Do you give out? Honsey? Yeah,
- 36:17Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have ALYSSA saying
- 36:21Speaker 2: measure of accuracy Corey, minute of angle, Christine Miles, over
- 36:27Speaker 2: accuracy Mackenzie, median ocular adjustment Chili minutes of angle Logan
- 36:35Speaker 2: and Chester minutes of angle, Hansey says, Mills over angle,
- 36:42Speaker 2: the correct answer is minute of angle. That means we're
- 36:46Speaker 2: going to overtime, play the drop film.
- 36:52Speaker 13: Last.
- 36:54Speaker 10: I think just cut it at if you ain't first
- 36:56Speaker 10: your last and then like going to other stuff.
- 36:58Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 36:59Speaker 3: I never liked a Phil cough Man.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Hansei and Corey going into overtime with eight correct answers.
- 37:06Speaker 2: This will be a numerical question. Whoever's closest between the
- 37:09Speaker 2: two of you will be declared the winner, but the
- 37:11Speaker 2: other six players will still come up with an answer.
- 37:13Speaker 2: In case somebody gets it right on the nose, then
- 37:15Speaker 2: meat Eater will add an extra one hundred dollars donation
- 37:18Speaker 2: at the end of the game. The tie breaking topic
- 37:21Speaker 2: is hunting. What's the most beards on a turkey that's
- 37:25Speaker 2: entered in the National Wild Turkey Federation record books? What's
- 37:33Speaker 2: the most beards on a turkey that's entered in the
- 37:37Speaker 2: NWTF record books? Down to Corey and hanseific.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Corey, how.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Many turkeys have you killed in your day?
- 37:54Speaker 6: Two?
- 37:54Speaker 2: Okay, Hansei, how many of you killed?
- 37:57Speaker 9: Four?
- 37:58Speaker 2: All right?
- 37:58Speaker 3: Advantage? Hansey.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Then for for this question, just how many beards the
- 38:04Speaker 2: most beards on a turkey that's entered in the n
- 38:07Speaker 2: w t F record books. The closest between Corey and
- 38:11Speaker 2: Hansey will be declared. The Winner's rethinking his answer. He
- 38:17Speaker 2: raised the entire.
- 38:18Speaker 6: Answer, what's the most.

- 39:19Speaker 2: is thirteen.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Making winner.
- 39:26Speaker 2: I don't have a picture of them, but I think
- 39:28Speaker 2: you can see it on the NWTF website that Gobbler
- 39:31Speaker 2: was killed by an eleven year old in Pennsylvania in
- 39:35Speaker 2: twenty seventeen. The longest beard was ten inches.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Of course it was a child, even year old.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Thirteen bears Hansie is our winner, Hansei. You get to
- 39:47Speaker 2: choose with the five hundred dollars donation from me. Eater goes.
- 39:51Speaker 2: What's it going to be?
- 39:53Speaker 6: No, can you remind me what the options are?
- 39:57Speaker 2: Any conservation group you think, you know folks, podcast hunters, fishers,
- 40:04Speaker 2: and anglers would enjoy be anything that supports public lands,
- 40:09Speaker 2: that is pro hunting, that likes to give fishermen access.
- 40:13Speaker 2: You got lots of choices out there, Hansey. And if
- 40:16Speaker 2: you don't come up with anything by the fault, you
- 40:18Speaker 2: can just give it to the Meat Eater Land Access Initiative,
- 40:22Speaker 2: which does all of the above. No, I got I
- 40:24Speaker 2: got this.
- 40:26Speaker 6: I just started drafting my duck camp email for the

- 40:33Speaker 6: go duck hunting, and so I'm gonna go.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Delta Waterfowl, Delta waterfle.
