- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Well, eighteen thirty-five did a little research for us.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: ESPN matchup uh uh the predict a thon.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Although I love the term predictathon now that I just said it.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: The predict a thon.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Let's go to the predict a thon, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And and of course it would be the announcers at the game that would be saying, you know, all right, Chad, let's go to the predict a thon.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: What do they say?
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: The Bills are gonna have ESPN.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Was that a Ched?
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Yes, a Chad.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: There's like a Chad and a Chet.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a Chad.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: That's an announcer's name, Ched.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Ched.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: You're right, it is.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, at any rate, uh it's a 78.1% uh wait, uh Chargers?
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Wait, oh yeah, 71%, 78.1% Bills win, Chargers 21.7.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Which is why my score that I think they're going to get, which is extremely high, makes all the sense in the world.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I I look, we both picked win.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: My win is more practical of we're gonna win by three points.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Your win is like 722 points.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: That's how far we're gonna win.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: We're gonna win.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: That's my confidence, guys.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying, and sometimes, sometimes, and the Bills are notorious for this, these teams that you're supposed to be able to just rip right over, uh-huh, sometimes they get a struggle with that.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And our defense is not a hundred percent the stoppable force that it was, say, three, four years ago.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Our offense is unhinged.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: I'm not let I'm not letting your negativity seep into this wonderful day we call Dolly Day.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Listen, Chad, I am just giving you now you're Chad, the color commentator.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Uh listen, Chad.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: This is just things that I've witnessed over the years.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I'm not being a pooper, I'm not being a downer.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you, if you're a Bills fan, you understand the term uh optimistic pessimism 100%.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Well, you're usually leaning on the pessimism, slight optimism.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Now do me a favor.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Practical go to the Scott and Alley page, and I'll also put this on our stories here in a second.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: But being that it's Dolly Day, 925, I want you to look at a listener sent this.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Oh my god! That's the reaction I was looking for.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know if this is local or not, but I love it.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: It's a 12-foot skeleton dressed like Dolly, which with huge tatas.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Then it says 9 to 5 next to it.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Just go to the page, you'll go see it.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: It's the only time because normally when you're dealing with a dead person, showing a skeleton might not be the most uh, you know, uh heartfelt thing.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Somehow this works.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Right, totally.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, and this is just another way for me to just say, come to Dolly Day tonight, latitude 42, six to nine, bring a book.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: That's your admission.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I know, isn't that great?
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: No, I have to be at full disclosure, I'm feeling a little under the weather.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Well, explain why.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Zach came home from a festival.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: He was at a festival festival last weekend.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Festival.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Festival.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: He was at Fastival last weekend, and he came back and he goes, Oh no, my throat feels like razor blades.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And of course, Allie had to stick her tongue down that throat.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: And uh and then then, you know, she brought all that back into her.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: I even said to Scott, I I think I dodged a bullet.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: No, I didn't.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: No, you didn't not until today.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: No.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: So if I was to call in sick, which obviously I didn't, I'm here.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: If I was to call in sick, do I have to call or text?
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Do you think it's okay to just text in sick?
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: It's 2026.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Everyone's gonna say text.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Can I tell you as a person that has managed people over the years?
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: I've joked about this most recently too, and now it's just you and me.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Really, I just let you handle the management part of this.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I sit here and I'm like, okay.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Let's think about this.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Think about, you know, I think Zach has a crew of oh, probably 30 people.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I think Zach would appreciate this and agree with this.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Assuming he went to work today if he also has razor blades in his throat.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: He did go to work.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: I saw the couple of things.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Because he has he has no choice, does he?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: He burned all his time over at the hippie fest.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Pretty much.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: He's probably everybody gets a free tambourine as you walk in.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Anyway, we're not going down that road of making fun of that festival.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: No, but you can listen to that on the Not For Air podcast.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I'm sure he'd appreciate this.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: I like a call.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And here's why.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Here's why.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Uh just know the reason why.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: You're not BSing me.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: If you call and you're like, oh my God.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Because it's all too easy just to be like, text.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: I don't feel good.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I'm not coming in today.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: As a manager, you don't see this.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: If you're not a manager, you don't know this mindset.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: So hear me.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: It's not a right or wrong.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: It's you don't know it unless you've been in this situation.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: We immediately think, whatever, lazy bastard.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: They're just blowing off the day.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Every time?
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Every time.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Especially if it's not come in the next day about dying.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Especially if it's a Monday or a Friday.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but the whole day, the whole, the whole eight hours that you the day of the text until you come in the next day and look uh look like that.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I'm believing that you're just blowing it off.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And okay, people deserve mental health days.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: This is not part of the debate.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Not at all part of the debate.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: If you're sick, do you require a phone call?
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Or I wouldn't even say require.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: It's preferred.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Preferred a phone call, or do you are you okay with the text?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Now here's where the text would apply.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: If you are in the emergency, hey, I'm in the ER because I fell down the stairs last night tripping over one of Scott's eight pugs.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I understand not calling at that point.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Then you take a picture of your bracelet, your medical bracelet.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: You've got the hospital socks on.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: You're laying there hard as a carp.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Right, your ankles twisted sideways or backwards.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: You know, okay.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: That's there are there's exceptions to the rule of that.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: But I would prefer, I'd even prefer it if you had to call in and say you had a kid that was sick.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: I'd even prefer if you're totally healthy and you're like, hey, Ched is uh sick today, you want to hear it.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: I just want the I want to hear, if I hear your voice, I know two things.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: I know you took the effort to say to me, look, there's a situation legitimately, as opposed to just texting, I'm sick.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: You're not.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And what am I gonna say?
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: But what are you supposed to say on the phone?
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: If I call you and I don't sound sick, like, do I sound sick to you right now?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: No, but you and I have this way of not sounding sick.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: That was a weird statement.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: So I thought I'd be like a little bit of the nasals.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: No, but if you call me and said Scott, I literally have razor blades in the throat.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And I think I know where it came from.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I'm dying.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you don't even have to put on the Ferris Bueller fake out.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: You know, you can just, you know, be like, I'm I got the razor blades, I don't want to get everybody sick today.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I'm just giving you the heads up, I'm gonna skip out.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, you know, that's that one-on-one connection where you're saying to me, I took, because when you text, also you're avoiding me.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: You're losing all the personal contact with that.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: You want to hear the sincerity of the sickness.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Even if you're skipping out for the day for a mental health day.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: I know it doesn't sound like I'm sick, Scott, but really.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: But if you tell me you got razor blades, I'm gonna be like, oh yeah, keep that out of here.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, don't want that.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: It even for a mental health day.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Hey, I am just drained.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I I just need a day.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, now I gotta I gotta muster that up on a mental health day.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, wow, exactly.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, great.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: If not, I'm just gonna look at you like you're lazy.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: You have to think of this in the manager's mindset.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Because you cannot think of it as the employee.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Managers are like cops.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Too many times they've been lied to.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Wait a minute.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You think you think everyone is lied to those tears are gonna get you out of this ticket?
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Saw your ankles sideways.
