- 0:00But hey, Matt, how are you? Oh, we're recording.
- 0:03Oh, yeah. I didn't notice the light.
- 0:06Come on, I'm good. How are you?
- 0:08I'm not bad. Good, good, good.
- 0:10The worst thing this week is that my beard is too short now.
- 0:13I know you did a terrible job. I did.
- 0:16And I was just saying those shells of yours.
- 0:18Yeah, I know, I know. And then it was like, you got a
- 0:21bit longer and I'm like, I'm want to trim it, but I don't
- 0:24want to trim it manually because I'm lazy.
- 0:26And I was did this thing that I always do where I looked at the
- 0:30guards and I was like, I'll just use the longest guard.
- 0:31It's probably fine. It's not fun.
- 0:32It's never fine. How do I forget this every time?
- 0:38Welcome to Multiple Nerdghazen, a comedy show about all things
- 0:45nerdy. It's not.
- 0:50It's this short. This is not normal.
- 0:53They advertise all of these shaver things with like all of
- 0:56these settings. They don't do anything
- 0:59different, they all do the same. They just figures they get.
- 1:02They just remove your fucking beard and then for some reason I
- 1:06keep doing it. So anyway, yeah.
- 1:12We've all made that same mistake.
- 1:14Yeah, Excuse me for you. I've made this mistake 10 times
- 1:19in my life. Like, how?
- 1:20How do I not? And then as soon as I did it, I
- 1:22was like, you know this Matt, you know this you.
- 1:28Know you'll learn one day. And now Larry calls me Shavey
- 1:31beard boy. So she said she knew it was me.
- 1:38She just knew that she didn't, she said.
- 1:42She said it looked different, but I knew it was you.
- 1:43I just knew you didn't want people to think you were old
- 1:46anymore. And I was like, all right, kid.
- 1:51Yeah, I do not Like I look at old photos that I've missed how
- 1:55my bead used to be red, a lot of red.
- 2:02Yeah, actually one of the thumbnail I did the other week,
- 2:06you and I as legally distinct Mando and Grogu, we have, we
- 2:11have pretty good beards in that. And I was like.
- 2:13I did notice that. We have a lot less grey in that
- 2:19for some reason. Thank you very much.
- 2:20Whichever fucking GPT generated that I can't remember.
- 2:29The younger self. Yeah.
- 2:32No, it's, it's appreciated. They're they're designed to make
- 2:34us happy. Yes, our little little LMSLLMS.
- 2:38And that's the thing that why people need to make sure that
- 2:41they pay attention to what they're doing because they are
- 2:43just designed to make you happy. They're ridiculous.
- 2:47I this week I the Formula One starts right.
- 2:52Well now today it's, it's in your country.
- 2:57It's our wow, it's our country, but I'm not there.
- 2:59It's in Melbourne and so I we have a Formula One fantasy
- 3:05league with amongst family and friends as we always do and I
- 3:09was like I wonder what Claude thinks would be some good picks
- 3:12for the F1 fantasy. So I said hey Claude, what
- 3:15drivers and constructors should I pick for the F1 fantasy
- 3:18league? Give me some tips.
- 3:20It is not aware of who's driving for fucking what, I can tell you
- 3:24that, but it will confidently tell you the wrong information.
- 3:31We need to get him specifics. But it was like, oh, you should
- 3:33pick this, maybe this, this, this.
- 3:35I said, oh OK, cool. So this is what I've got so far.
- 3:37And I told her I've got these drivers, these constructors.
- 3:39And it was like, Oh yeah, you've, but you've got 2 drivers
- 3:41for this team involved. And I was like, I'm like mate,
- 3:46like Hulkenberg doesn't drive for Haas anymore for starters.
- 3:49And then and then it goes and then it goes, Oh yeah, I know,
- 3:52sorry, I made a mistake. And it's like, well, how can I
- 3:54trust anything you say when you're so confidently saying the
- 3:59wrong thing? Like I've had them confidently
- 4:02give me the wrong date and when I've called them out on it,
- 4:06they've gone no, this is the date.
- 4:09And then I've called them out again, they go, Oh yeah, sorry,
- 4:12it is the state. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said
- 4:15that. It's like, yeah, man.
- 4:18It's just that it makes you wonder like when, when it's
- 4:22telling you stuff like that and you know it's wrong, that it's
- 4:25very obvious. But then at other times when
- 4:29you're not super not as familiar with the information and you go,
- 4:33OK, that sounds plausible, right?
- 4:35That should make you skeptical because now, now that that's
- 4:37happened, I'm going to go through a period where I don't
- 4:40really trust what it says, but it is very convincing.
- 4:43And then after a while, you kind of go, Oh, yeah, OK.
- 4:45Well, you've heard about those lawyers getting fired for
- 4:48basically writing up motions, but.
- 4:52Shit doesn't exist. Laws and that don't exist, it
- 4:57goes. Yeah, which is a big no no in
- 5:00court. Yes, it should be.
- 5:05Yeah. I don't know.
- 5:06It's just so funny. It's it's like, it's like that
- 5:09the book about the Elon Musk book, when I started reading it
- 5:14and it was telling me all this stuff and I'm like, OK, you got
- 5:17no context for a lot of this stuff.
- 5:18Like, you know, things and things in South Africa, you
- 5:21know, things about manufacturing or whatever, fine, fine.
- 5:23But it gets to something I do know about, like the, you know,
- 5:26the DND and the gaming stuff. And it's, and he's saying the,
- 5:29the book is saying things that I know are incorrect.
- 5:32And I'm like, I cannot trust this book about anything now
- 5:35because it's getting the things I'm familiar with wrong.
- 5:38I can't trust that it's not getting the things I'm
- 5:40unfamiliar with wrong. So I just was like, I can't read
- 5:42this book anymore. Like I I don't, I don't believe
- 5:45anything this book says now. Well, it was coming from Elon
- 5:50Musk. Why would you believe anything?
- 5:51Yeah, and but it's like it's once, as soon as you notice it
- 5:54in something, you do know, It's like, I can't now.
- 5:58Oh, I did. There was one thing that he has
- 6:00said that I've someone did some research into and turned out to
- 6:03be true. But it's true for not the reason
- 6:06you think. He won a Quake tournament or the
- 6:10Quake or Doom tournament back in the day.
- 6:12Sure, that was for money. Oh, OK all.
- 6:16Right at the time it was who have whoever had the best
- 6:20Internet connection one and because of where he's working at
- 6:23AT1 connection and so quite good.
- 6:26Yeah, early PayPal or whatever. Yeah, and they even not even
- 6:29remember Thresh. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:32Yeah, he came out and said, yeah, I remember playing him,
- 6:35but he wasn't good. Yeah.
- 6:38So he did win a his work did win a competition for money, but
- 6:42it's not because he had the best.
- 6:44But. Not because he was the best
- 6:45player. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:49Unlike he's in Diablo. And what's another thing he
- 6:54claims to be good in? Path of Exile.
- 6:57Yeah, Path of Exile. Yeah, Speaking of games, still
- 7:04playing Dune Awakening. Loving it, Casta.
- 7:09Oh yeah. In addition to my my boon the
- 7:11other week I got my little, my little, what do you call it?
- 7:14I came into some some resources and some money thanks to Funcom.
- 7:18And I got all my ship back after I got eaten by a worm thanks to
- 7:21a server issue like thumbs up, which they then apologize for.
- 7:26And no. And and not only that, last
- 7:28weekend as an apology for all of the fuss, it was a quadruple
- 7:33resource weekend. Oh, so I just got out of mind
- 7:37the fuck out of things and I've got a ton of stuff so.
- 7:41You really came out on top with this.
- 7:43I did and this game's great. I'm building a new base up on a
- 7:47Cliff face about top for Cliff. It's great and I've nearly got
- 7:52an ornithopter. I've got there's a particular
- 7:55resource I need to finish it and I haven't haven't gotten that
- 7:59yet. It's in a very a radiated area
- 8:02and I just need to figure out how to do that.
- 8:04I don't like looking up guides for things if if I don't know
- 8:07I'm doing this one without looking up too much stuff.
- 8:11So yeah. Well, I look forward to finally
- 8:13being able to play it with you and I'll build my base next to
- 8:15yours. Not too close to mine.
- 8:19Your base tends to look like a little hovel.
- 8:22You're going to drag down the property prices up on my Cliff.
- 8:25I'll build what the tutorial says and that's it.
- 8:29Yeah, we could do. We could do a private server for
- 8:32that for for it. Well, you really don't.
- 8:36You really don't want me to live next to you do.
- 8:38You no, no, you could have a private server and I'll have a
- 8:41private server. No, although I want a public
- 8:44server and it's fine because it's not heavily PvP.
- 8:49So. Yeah, I think it already depends
- 8:51on the server. Sometimes you get lucky and
- 8:53people just. And it is nice to bump into
- 8:55people like like the other day, like literally last night I was
- 8:59playing for a bit and then I passed somebody coming the other
- 9:02way down a, down a, a road. I.
- 9:04Think someone was looking at Arc Raiders which is one of those
- 9:08extraction looters stuff and he was saying on PC people are a
- 9:12lot nicer than they are on console.
- 9:15They seem to come out shooting whereas PC they tend to go
- 9:18friendly. Friendly and.
- 9:21There are areas that are PvP I should say, but I haven't PvP D
- 9:28anybody in them as far as I know.
- 9:32Anyway, love it. I don't think there's anything
- 9:34else particularly interesting I need to say about it other than
- 9:37I just. I fucking love it.
- 9:38I don't know what it is. More people should play it.
- 9:41Yeah, it's like all the things I liked about Code and Exiles and
- 9:43all the things I liked about Destiny and all the things I
- 9:45like about these other games all smushed together.
- 9:47And it's just, this is a really good comment for me and I really
- 9:49hope it doesn't go away because there's a bad trend lately.
- 9:54We've got an article in here about High Guard that I think
- 9:59got review bombed when it came out and I don't remember why.
- 10:02Do you remember any details about that?
- 10:04I remember at the start, this is what ended The Game Awards.
- 10:09I don't know if it was last year or the year before.
- 10:11This was the big final announcement.
- 10:14Was this game and everyone's gone.
- 10:16It's just another Overwatch or a.
- 10:19OK, so it was just that it wasn't and people weren't
- 10:21interested because it's it's got released in January and they're
- 10:25just shutting the whole fucking thing down like and this.
- 10:28Isn't the first week something like this has happened?
- 10:30No, no. Because yeah, that's because.
- 10:35Excuse me, I think we're even talking about this last week.
- 10:38It's one of these games that people have their game that they
- 10:42go to because you've got to commit to it and, and.
- 10:46It's not this. Apparently it's.
- 10:47Not this. People didn't like this.
- 10:49So what happens is the first week or two, everyone jumps on
- 10:53to go and have a look and see what it is.
- 10:55And then they go, Yep, this isn't for me.
- 10:57And then they go back to what they're familiar with.
- 10:59Yeah, you need to with, with these types of shooters, you
- 11:03need to keep up with all the characters, how to play and all
- 11:08of that, it's thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:10It's got to be your game. It's got to become your game
- 11:13that you play. Yeah, like.
- 11:14And you only play one of them. What was the What was the one by
- 11:18gearbox? That one didn't go very well
- 11:20either. Yeah, I forget and then with
- 11:22that one. Oh, and different lawbreakers.
- 11:24The Cliffy Cliffy beast 1. Yep, I played that at PACs or
- 11:29E3. I think I played that at E3.
- 11:31It came out and then it just went away.
- 11:32Like it's just, yeah, it's tough with these things.
- 11:34It's just so weird to me because this is like such a big, it's
- 11:37like a AAA game, massive fucking budget.
- 11:40And then just two months in, they're just like, Nah, it's
- 11:42like, man, that's fucked. Like yeah they really gave it no
- 11:46time to try and like 3 months is not long I reckon even.
- 11:53Because what they say, they just couldn't get a player base like.
- 11:56This is the most critical they feel saying like they should
- 11:58have come in thinking, right, this is going to be hard for
- 12:01like the first six months. Let's give it time.
- 12:04Let's and try and build on what's there.
- 12:08Yeah, Find their player base, build what people want, and then
- 12:11hopefully we can do what others have done.
- 12:13But no, they just threw their hands off the air straight away.
- 12:18Yeah, it seems weird to me. Yeah.
- 12:20Since launch, more than two million players have played have
- 12:23stepped into high High Guards world.
- 12:26You shared feedback, created content, and many believed in
- 12:29what we're building. For that, we're deeply grateful.
- 12:32Despite the passion, hard work of those who worked on High
- 12:34Guard, the game was unable to build a play a sustainable
- 12:37player base to support it long term.
- 12:40You don't. Do you know that after 2-3
- 12:43months, maybe two months, maybe they do.
- 12:45I just. Well, I think at one stage there
- 12:50was like 350 people playing. Yeah, it's not good, is it?
- 12:54Which is a bit of an idea, but you've got to give it a shot.
- 13:00Like why would you spend millions and millions of dollars
- 13:03and then just. I mean, people stopped playing
- 13:06Dune Awakening. I don't know how bad it got with
- 13:08Dune Awakening, but people stopped playing it and there was
- 13:10a concern that that was also going to suffer this kind of
- 13:13fate. But then this new update that
- 13:16they put out has brought people back.
- 13:19See I know my server, my server went from very quiet to like
- 13:22fucking bases everywhere when this new update came out.
- 13:25See, I knew that June wouldn't disappear as quickly.
- 13:29Because fun comes bigger. Fun comes good and also like
- 13:32with Conan, Conan stayed away and I was still doing updates
- 13:35for quite some time and I didn't think it was that great again.
- 13:39I I like Conan, but I agree, like the amount of content and
- 13:43the the longevity of that game is it is pretty, pretty amazing.
- 13:48Like they pump out content, they pump it like even there's DLC,
- 13:52but there's also free stuff they put out a lot like they, yeah,
- 13:55they do a really good job of like maintenance.
- 13:59Like what's that other that Mutant year 0 game that Funcom
- 14:02also makes that's still going on too.
- 14:04Yeah, people playing that. Yeah, and this.
- 14:07So whoever developed this, they put millions into it and then
- 14:10just, I think there's going to be a tax writer for something to
- 14:14be able to just walk away from. The IT does seem weird.
- 14:17It does seem very strange. Like we gave it, we gave it 40-5
- 14:22days. That's a shock.
- 14:24We'll just write this off on tax or something because it's a
- 14:26loss. Yeah.
- 14:27Well, guys, that's it. We tried.
- 14:29Did we try? How hard did we try?
- 14:33Yeah, yeah, at least you can say it lasted 45 days longer, 31
- 14:38days longer than Concorde's 14 days lifespan, which is the last
- 14:41game like this. That one's wild.
- 14:44That 14 days is wild. Yeah, Like, yeah, Well, very
- 14:52sad, I suppose. I don't care about that kind of
- 14:55game. But.
- 14:56But I don't like, I don't know, it's like hearing this stuff.
- 14:59It just seems like such a waste of time and fucking money to
- 15:03like to make something like this and then be like, well that
- 15:06didn't work. That didn't work.
- 15:08We'll see you. They started firing everyone
- 15:10off, laying off everyone very quickly after launch.
- 15:14Yeah, it's not. Which is never a good sign.
- 15:16That's comedy games though, I think.
- 15:19But I think though it was quite big, the number of people they
- 15:22were laying off. I'm trying to remember when this
- 15:26was announced. The game.
- 15:29Yeah. Was it last year or the year
- 15:31before? I mean, this is not a game that
- 15:33I'm super familiar with, but that makes sense because I don't
- 15:36like Overwatch so. Yeah, or I remember.
- 15:39Playing Overwatch again right? Didn't some update come out for
- 15:41Overwatch and everyone's like Overwatch is back?
- 15:44Oh yeah, Overwatch never really went away.
- 15:47Overwatch is a lot of people's safety place these days.
- 15:51Yeah, OK. But Team Fortress 2 is still
- 15:53going on. That was that was a fun game
- 15:57back in the day. I don't think I would play it
- 15:59now. I don't think I played it very
- 16:01much. Then the other one that just
- 16:03came out that apparently is it's unclear what the future of it
- 16:07is, is Marathon. Marathon just came out and that
- 16:11also apparently people aren't into well.
- 16:14Remember just the Ned. The new bungee.
- 16:16One, I called that out last week that it's not going to do well.
- 16:19Well, apparently it's not doing well or or I'm not yeah, there's
- 16:24people aren't aren't happy with it and then.
- 16:29There's only so much she can do. It's the same formulas.
- 16:33Yeah. Arc Raiders, which has actually
- 16:36just come out recently, which is doing well, which is an
- 16:38extraction looter. Like they're all the.
- 16:44Same people saying is anyone feeling unsure about this game?
- 16:49And then, yeah, yeah, it's an impression.
- 16:52It's good, the bad. It's not going to appeal to a
- 16:56very wide audience. Yeah.
- 16:57Anyway, it's yeah, we'll, we'll talk more about that, I guess,
- 17:00in the weeks to come. There's more to see, but.
- 17:02People who play World of Warcraft, yeah.
- 17:05And they'll always be oh, this is going to come and replace
- 17:07World of Warcraft, and it never does.
- 17:11Were they? Yeah, It's the Wow Classic
- 17:13servers still going. Have you still got both kinds of
- 17:16Wow? Yeah.
- 17:16I think so, yeah. I don't play it so but I'm.
- 17:20Pretty sure. I think if I was going to play
- 17:21it, I would want the classic because my memories of World of
- 17:24Warcraft are from very early on. And then I lost interest.
- 17:28And then when I go into like I did try to get back into it
- 17:32years later and I was like, ah, that's a little different.
- 17:33And I don't, I don't know. I want the the version that I
- 17:37remember. It's a bit janky.
- 17:40You got to travel everywhere by blimp.
- 17:43Yeah, yeah, from Tilde Rassell to to the mainland.
- 17:50Yeah, I think though that's. A good game at the.
- 17:52Time still exist, yeah. I just know I'll never play it
- 17:56because I I'm just too afraid I'd become addicted.
- 18:00I don't think. I don't think I would.
- 18:02Though no, I've whatever it is about wow, I had fun with it.
- 18:06Like Dave and I did this big adventure where we ran across
- 18:09the fucking continent to get to the city, and that was fun.
- 18:13That was a fun evening adventure.
- 18:15But the game itself, what the, you know, the game loop in Wow
- 18:19is just not appealing to me. Like the, the, the way you grind
- 18:23to get loot in that versus sorry to talk about doing Awakening
- 18:26again, but there's just something about the, the game,
- 18:30like the loop of doing Awakening that appeals to me that like I
- 18:35said this about Conan Exiles too, Conan Exiles, when you do
- 18:37combat and you push a button, you go, OK, like you assign on
- 18:42APC, you assign the numbers usually to an action, like a
- 18:45skill, and then you push buttons and you just push the numbers
- 18:48and then you chain things. I don't know that my brain's
- 18:51like, Nah, I'm good. I don't like that shit.
- 18:53In Awakening, you get a gun and you fucking shoot.
- 18:56Yeah, you first person shoot or third person shoot and that's
- 19:00that. I don't know, I like those more.
- 19:03Yeah. It's very like I feel more
- 19:05connected to what my character's doing.
- 19:09Yeah. Oh, it's terrible of combat in
- 19:11that game. In Conan.
- 19:14Conan is clunky as fuck. As far as Conan that's the
- 19:17thing. I'm like how is this game still
- 19:18going on? I feel like the combat is
- 19:20terrible in it. Like I know people must like it,
- 19:23but I think the combat in Conan Exiles is terrible.
- 19:26Yes. But Despite that, I do still
- 19:30really like that game, yes, so. I liked my little house, which
- 19:35is just my bed on the ground. Yeah, I think everything except
- 19:39the combat in Conan Exiles is great.
- 19:40Yeah, I used to try and run past all combat because.
- 19:45But you can't because you need the resources.
- 19:47Yeah, that's no, I used to. I I found a path where I could
- 19:50run and get copper. Oh no, I mean you need like
- 19:54skins of things. Oh yeah.
- 19:55Yeah, and you have to collect. I don't want to use the S word
- 20:01helpers. You hire helpers to work.
- 20:06Wink, wink. Don't pay them a lot.
- 20:09You pay them in gruel and you force them to push the wheel of
- 20:13pain around. But yes.
- 20:17Did you have the version when you could see your Dick?
- 20:22I can't remember, I no, I don't think so, no.
- 20:26It's only me then. No, because I bought it in
- 20:30Australia I think. Yeah, I've got it in Australia
- 20:32and it came with some. Oh, maybe that's the problem.
- 20:35Maybe I didn't buy it in Australia.
- 20:37I can't, I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure I didn't.
- 20:41Which is weird because why no Dicks in that?
- 20:44But then there's Dicks all over the place in Cyberpunk, there's
- 20:49D&V and everything all over the place.
- 20:51Yeah, there's D&V in. Then you can decide what they
- 20:55all look like in Kernan. Yeah, no, I'll sell a punk too.
- 21:00Yeah, opinion. As long as you don't use them.
- 21:08As long as you don't see them being used, you're OK.
- 21:10Used for what? Anything.
- 21:13Anything. Yeah.
- 21:16I could open my beer. No, that's it.
- 21:19You can. Have them, you just can't use
- 21:21them. Yeah, America, you can't have
- 21:26them. Just not.
- 21:28Not at all. No.
- 21:29You can shoot people in the face in a video game, but you can't
- 21:34look at their penis. I don't want to see a Dick, just
- 21:38blood. Yeah.
- 21:42Old games? Well, it's not that old.
- 21:44I guess it is old. How old is Assassin's Creed
- 21:46Black Flag? It's probably older than I want
- 21:48to know at this point. Probably at least a decade.
- 21:52Fuck off. All right, well.
- 21:53Least. It's a it was a Xbox launch
- 22:00title, wasn't it? Xbox One launch title.
- 22:02Now I'm just remembering. Is that right?
- 22:04I don't not sure. It was an early one anyway.
- 22:12Release date was yeah, 13 years ago.
- 22:16Well, 12 years ago, 29th of October 2013.
- 22:21Right, Well, it's getting a remake or a resynced a remaster
- 22:29or whatever. This is what they should have
- 22:31really done for remember, what was the name of that game that
- 22:37they came out with that was basically the pirate ships and
- 22:40stuff? Oh, skull and bones.
- 22:43Skull and bones that this is what they should have done
- 22:46instead of skull and bones. Quadruple a fucking Oh yeah,
- 22:49quad quad a fucking whatever horseshit they came out.
- 22:52Quadruple a first. Quadruple a game that you can't
- 22:56actually even get off the boat. Yeah, no, look, I Black Flag, I
- 23:02played a bit of and it was really good.
- 23:04I don't know why I didn't play more of it.
- 23:06I enjoyed it, I really did. I enjoyed the sailing and the
- 23:10upgrading my boat and. See, Black Flag is just before I
- 23:15feel like my favorite era of Assassin's Creed is like
- 23:19Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, those 3 less so Valhalla
- 23:26actually, I think I really enjoyed Origins.
- 23:29I fucking loved Odyssey and then Valhalla was OK.
- 23:33And so I think this one kind of slightly predates that where
- 23:36it's a bit more like like, you know, collecting things less
- 23:43like. Yes, it is.
- 23:44Open. Worldly.
- 23:45This is this is probably the last one before after this day
- 23:51the games were terrible. After this.
- 23:54After this they went terrible. Oh, Syndicate was after this.
- 23:57Syndicate was after this. Yeah, you're right.
- 23:59You're right. Yes.
- 24:00Syndicate I couldn't get into. Yeah, after this, everything
- 24:02went downhill until they went to Origin and changed a lot.
- 24:06Yeah. Origins I loved.
- 24:10Yeah, running around in Egypt and finding all those.
- 24:14Yeah, it's actually enjoyable to go and find stuff there.
- 24:17Yeah, so I think, I know, I know you can sail around in Black
- 24:20Flag. Maybe it's more open world than
- 24:21I recall, or maybe this version of it will be.
- 24:24That would be good if they could make it more like.
- 24:27Yeah, I know in 3 was there was the sailing part, but it was
- 24:33just missions. So you drained the old mission?
- 24:35There's the one in America, right?
- 24:36Yeah. Yeah, this one was very much
- 24:39you. You're on the boat most of the
- 24:40time. Yeah, OK.
- 24:44Well anyway, I mean this looks interesting. 60FPS update for
- 24:49Unity as well. Oh, OK, interesting.
- 24:52I mean not going to play Unity again.
- 24:54No, that was not good either. That's the French one as unity.
- 24:59That's what that's what I said. Like after Black Flag, that's
- 25:01when they all started to go downhill.
- 25:04Yeah, but Speaking of Ubisoft games, I have been playing more
- 25:10Star Wars Outlaws. Oh, and how are you going with
- 25:13it? I like it, but I don't like it
- 25:17as much as doing awakening. So it's like my but I have been
- 25:23playing it a bit. I've been playing it because I
- 25:24can play it on this. Well I can play Doon awakening
- 25:26on this too, but I don't like to.
- 25:28Yeah, no, you want a big screen for that.
- 25:31Yeah, but there's also because I'm, I've played Doon Awakening
- 25:35exclusively with mouse and keyboard.
- 25:37Yeah. So I'm not, I don't have the
- 25:38muscle memory yet for console control.
- 25:41Yeah. You can't transfer over
- 25:43something like that just. Once I've been playing, yeah,
- 25:45because I'm so far in the game now I need to be effective.
- 25:49Yeah, I can't just fuck around. Oh, I guess I could go back to
- 25:51an earlier area and learn the controls, but anyway.
- 25:54But yeah, Outlaws is good. It's fine.
- 25:58It's just like. Right now that I don't have to
- 26:02worry as much about stealth. Did you get far in it the first
- 26:05time? I got probably about halfway
- 26:08through like I didn't, I don't. Think I finished way further
- 26:11than me. Though maybe I did finish it, I
- 26:14don't know. It's hard.
- 26:15It's hard to know because it's it's Ubisoft.
- 26:18There's so much happening in those games, sometimes you
- 26:20forget what the story actually is.
- 26:23Yeah, that's the thing. I think I'm enjoying it.
- 26:26There is the there is a lot and I'm my when I play it, I go.
- 26:32I really want to put my game brain power into the other game
- 26:37that I like, which is doing one thing.
- 26:39So I'm kind of like just pottering around in it.
- 26:41It doesn't feel like I'm actually, I'm not all in on it,
- 26:44you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:48That's good. Like, I don't understand.
- 26:53Well, I'm not playing the version that came out originally
- 26:57so I guess I shouldn't say, but I don't.
- 27:00It's not as bad as everyone said it was at launch, so presumably
- 27:03they fixed some stuff because I think I think it's fine.
- 27:06Like I think it was just mainly the stealth thing that I didn't
- 27:08like about the game and it was look, some levels were it would
- 27:11be just not game over. There was actually, it was a bit
- 27:15like that. There was a bit like that, yeah.
- 27:19So. Anyway, there's and I think with
- 27:23a lot of people, with Star Wars, when you're playing a bounty
- 27:25hunter, you're thinking about just running around and shooting
- 27:28people. Yeah, no, it's, it's Assassin's
- 27:31Creed in Star Wars is yeah, basically, yeah.
- 27:34But like I said, I think I said this before last week, I I knew
- 27:37that already. So I wasn't like disappointed or
- 27:41expecting anything else. So maybe that's part of it too.
- 27:44It's just, yeah, no, I knew that's what it was, Yeah.
- 27:48Yeah, you knew what you're getting into.
- 27:49Your hopes weren't particularly high with it.
- 27:52Yeah, Lyra saw me playing it. She likes what's his name?
- 27:56Outlaws. Is it Kiff or is Kiff?
- 27:59Is his name Kiff? Kiff is from.
- 28:03You mean? What's the little guy's name?
- 28:06Outlaws, Kip. But I haven't played it since
- 28:11launch. I have no idea.
- 28:12What is that little creature's name?
- 28:14Outlaws creature. Yeah, what is his name?
- 28:23I've got a fucking picture of him.
- 28:26Nicks, Nicks. Nicks, Nicks.
- 28:28Kip. Kip and Kip is one of those is
- 28:31from fucking Futurama. Nicks yeah, she Lira loves him.
- 28:38She's like pet him, pet him again.
- 28:39I. Think there's an achievement for
- 28:43Pet Him, isn't there? Oh, maybe I got one for
- 28:46something the other day I got, it's actually the first
- 28:48achievement I've gotten in about 6 months.
- 28:49And I was like, oh, Lee could be proud.
- 28:54I'm going to hit 4 million this year.
- 28:56That's my goal. That's crazy.
- 28:58We've got some follow up and we've been, I've been and others
- 29:05offline not on this show have been teasing you about the
- 29:08demise of Xbox and we have been Pooh poohed and you have been
- 29:13vindicated somewhat. I've been right this entire
- 29:16time. I told you they're going to be
- 29:17making another Xbox console and. Tell me about it.
- 29:24This is what this is. I think they left the
- 29:26announcement for fuel to retire and actually come in.
- 29:31So she's got something big to announce when she starts and
- 29:35it's going to be called Project Helix and it'll play your PC
- 29:39game. So it's sounding a lot like.
- 29:43It's just APC. You know, PC.
- 29:46It's a Steam Machine. Yes, I think it's going to be a
- 29:50lot like, yeah, just a Steam box or something.
- 29:54Yeah. Which I'll make.
- 29:56Well, I mean, I mean Xbox is APC.
- 29:59It's just yeah, just with some restrictions.
- 30:02Although I oh anyway. But if they turn into anything
- 30:06like they've got with the handheld, you'll be able to play
- 30:09all your steam and everything on it.
- 30:12As well. Yeah, because you can do that
- 30:13already, right? Yeah, on that thing, whatever
- 30:16that thing is called. The Rogue.
- 30:17The Rogue. I just yeah, Xbox Ally, I call
- 30:21it. Oh, you call it your ally.
- 30:23That's my ally. You little buddy.
- 30:26But yeah, it just, it does complete everything.
- 30:28And that's just natively. I don't have to do anything
- 30:30special. I just hit Steam and my Steam
- 30:32library will come up. Is it, I mean, we probably
- 30:37talked about this at the time, but so you're, you've got this,
- 30:40you've got this device. Is it vision like when you play
- 30:44an Xbox game, is it the Xbox Series X version of the game
- 30:47that you're playing? Or is it like, you know, the
- 30:52equivalent of like a what was the other one, the Series S or
- 30:55whatever? Yeah, there's two, the 2.
- 30:57Xboxes. So I think it depends.
- 31:01If it's plugged in I get 4K. It's not plugged in, I get
- 31:041080P. Yeah, right.
- 31:07I can play. Just the reason I ask is because
- 31:10my Xbox is a big fucking thing. Or not big, but it's pretty big.
- 31:14Like it's a big box, right? And the reason is because it
- 31:16needs cooling and it's got a bunch of stuff going on there.
- 31:19Can your little handheld thing now do that?
- 31:23The same thing as my big black box can do.
- 31:26Oh, not and yeah, OK. Not not not to not to 4K or
- 31:30anything like most of the time I think.
- 31:31And a rundown. The battery, The big.
- 31:34Game you're playing yeah, that's.
- 31:35But I was just playing RoboCop the other day, yeah, and that
- 31:39was running fine. Yeah, OK, 4K we wouldn't need,
- 31:43we don't need 4K on the little screen either like this thing
- 31:45does this doesn't this doesn't do 4K.
- 31:47Is this I think it's a 720P or maybe 1080P and it's.
- 31:50Like 1080P when it's not plugged in, 4K when it is plugged in.
- 31:54Like I can't read text on this, you know if?
- 31:58It was 4. K anyway.
- 31:59I need to start wearing my glasses when I play it.
- 32:03I need to wear my glasses maybe all the time now.
- 32:06I literally got my phone out the other day and I was like what
- 32:10the fuck like. Yeah, I'm actually having that
- 32:13problem as well. So I need to go buy more another
- 32:16pair of glasses. So I just have a pair of glasses
- 32:20like at my desk at work here. I've got some here.
- 32:23Anywhere in the house. I don't know.
- 32:25So listeners, I don't know if you have a solution for this.
- 32:27I don't know if there is a solution for this, but I cannot
- 32:30wear these with these. I cannot.
- 32:34It will it like drives me fucking nuts to have them
- 32:36pressed into my head. So I don't know what the
- 32:38solution for that is. Contacts.
- 32:41Contacts or earbuds but I don't know.
- 32:45I like headphones for. So do I.
- 32:47Headphones sound better. You can hear people walking up
- 32:52behind you, not eating games. Anyway, Well, I can.
- 32:56Oh, in games, yeah, my Airpods are great 90% of the time.
- 32:59I use my Airpods, actually. Yeah, but I don't want to use
- 33:02Airpods for this. I don't like I'm the only use
- 33:04wireless. No, for podcast, there's a
- 33:07delay. No.
- 33:08Yeah. And I know a lot of people don't
- 33:09notice it, but I notice it. But no, she came in and
- 33:13announced that and yeah, she used the next generation.
- 33:19And it does say like Project Helix will lead in performance
- 33:22in and play your Xbox and PC game.
- 33:25So it's interesting to see. What top comments?
- 33:30The top comment on this I agree with.
- 33:32The real question is whether or not this machine will support
- 33:34Steam. If it only supports the Xbox app
- 33:37then it's going to be DOA, and that's potentially true if for
- 33:43the PC side of it. Yeah.
- 33:45And with people, I do worry, like there's been so much talk
- 33:50about Xbox being dead, yes, that are people now going to get it
- 33:55into their heads? Well, I'm not going to buy
- 33:56another Xbox, even if it wasn't true.
- 33:59But it's been because there's just been so much talk about it.
- 34:02Well, no, I think it will have, I think it will have Steam on
- 34:06there. Because it does now, yeah.
- 34:09Oh, your one has Steam. Stupid games.
- 34:10Yeah, yeah, OK. I don't see why it would be any
- 34:13different at battle.net. Yeah, because most of my games
- 34:16are in Steam. Yeah.
- 34:17Is it run? For GOG as well, Project Helix
- 34:20will be the same. Yeah.
- 34:22All right. Yeah, I didn't know I could get
- 34:24GOG on here. I I thought I've seen it, but
- 34:26didn't tick my mind. Yeah, there's events on there I
- 34:29want to play. That's better than the Xbox, to
- 34:31be honest. The fact that it can do the Xbox
- 34:33and all that other stuff, yeah, yeah, that's good.
- 34:35Yeah. Because with what I was saying
- 34:37before GeForce Now, I know it sounds stupid to want to be able
- 34:40to play like an old Sierra adventure game, but I can't play
- 34:43those easily on anything else. And some of them, GOG has no Mac
- 34:51support, so I have to have this. I got a Parallels, which is like
- 34:56a virtualisation thing. I have a Windows VM, yeah, that
- 34:59I use for that stuff. And it's just be nice to not
- 35:01have to do that. And even that can be a bit
- 35:02clunky sometimes and not. Oh, it is, yeah.
- 35:05Yeah, but I understand why GOG don't always have Mac support
- 35:09because it takes them a lot of work sometimes to get these
- 35:11games up and running just on PC. Yeah.
- 35:16And Macs don't have Intel processors anymore, so it's
- 35:20yeah, refusing. Yeah, I can play Wing Commander.
- 35:26The OG Wing Commander or Wing Commander 3.
- 35:31Wing Commander 3 the. One with Mike Hamill.
- 35:34Yep. And others, Speaking of the
- 35:38Steam Machine, which you mentioned briefly before, there
- 35:41were a lot of rumours about the fact that he was supposed to
- 35:45come out this year and people were saying there's a RAM
- 35:47shortage because, you know, AI and all that jazz, so it's not
- 35:53going to come out this year. And then Valve just yesterday I
- 35:56think came out and said no, no, it is.
- 36:00It's going to be a lot more expensive.
- 36:03Yes, it is still shipping the Steam Machine, Steam Frame and
- 36:06Steam Controller in 2026. Yes, it's going to be more
- 36:11expensive than it would have been otherwise.
- 36:12Project Helix is meant to come out in 2027, which is scarily
- 36:18it's only next year. But I don't know this RAM
- 36:22shortage, something's got to happen because this since I've
- 36:30got it, it's got up to $100. Yeah.
- 36:34Like that's a huge jump. I know, I know.
- 36:37And then like there's just, they announced a bunch, they've just
- 36:40announced a bunch of new Macs and everything and the prices
- 36:45haven't gone up technically. They've kind of equivalently
- 36:47shifted or whatever, but Apple has these like long term
- 36:51contracts in theory, like they, they pay a lot of money to have
- 36:55long term contracts. And so people are like, oh, the
- 36:59Apple's rent prices didn't go up and it's like, well, hang on.
- 37:01First of all, they fucking inflate them through the roof so
- 37:03they can probably just eat the easily eat the fucking cost
- 37:07because you're already paying twice as much.
- 37:09And second, they have these long contracts.
- 37:11So maybe they're not even feeling this yet.
- 37:13So yeah, might be might be a good time to buy a Mac now
- 37:18before you have to pay. Or I have to negotiate the next
- 37:21contract? Exactly.
- 37:24Yeah, But the Steam Machine is interesting.
- 37:27I don't because the problem with that now is though, yeah, now
- 37:32that you've told me the Helix can do all that, can the Steam
- 37:34Machine play Xbox? Probably not.
- 37:36Probably not So. So maybe the Helix is the better
- 37:38option for me. Yeah.
- 37:42The non existent yet. Helix non existent yeah the only
- 37:45thing we know is the name and yeah it'll play Xbox and PC
- 37:48games that's. It I mean, I don't need to buy
- 37:50anything anytime soon I don't think, so I can wait.
- 37:53No, you're going to be playing June for the next year.
- 37:57Yeah, and I play that on GeForce cloud, so don't even need a
- 38:00machine for that. And yeah, hopefully is.
- 38:04Does anyone have any ideas when the RAM crisis might stop?
- 38:08I certainly don't. I think it's going to get worse.
- 38:11Yeah, yeah. We're not using less AI.
- 38:15No, we just every single day there seems like a new AI that's
- 38:19coming out. It's not.
- 38:20Just a RAM either it's just like fucking water and and just
- 38:24resources in general. This thing's just.
- 38:26Chewing up it's also like floating onto even just plain
- 38:29old memory, not memory like just plain old hard drives.
- 38:32And now I'm more expensive because SD you can't get SSD
- 38:35drives, so they actually get hard drives.
- 38:38So everything's sort of inflating because everyone just
- 38:42needs that memory. Yeah, everyone needs to ask it
- 38:45damn fucking questions. Yeah.
- 38:47Everyone needs to ask what Formula One drivers that should
- 38:50pick for their. They should pick for their.
- 38:52See, I actually use it for work. No, I did too.
- 38:56Told them to. Write write this e-mail for me,
- 38:59then I delete. I've been encouraged to use it
- 39:00more at work, but I'm not going to.
- 39:03We'd have to pick a bit of details, but yeah, I ask you
- 39:08questions. I don't let it do things.
- 39:10You can, you can. They have like if you've seen
- 39:13Claude code and all those things, I've used those on my
- 39:16personal computer to play. I I so I wrote a little, I
- 39:21wrote, sorry, I shouldn't even say I wrote it.
- 39:23I vibe coded a little command LINE app to transcribe podcasts
- 39:30using service and it works. But then I went and looked at
- 39:37the code and I was like, the fuck did you do that for?
- 39:40Like it works but like did some weird stuff and I'm like well.
- 39:45What if it's a lot simpler? And I guess if you're not a
- 39:49developer, you wouldn't know. And so I thought that was very
- 39:53strange. And then there's all these cases
- 39:55where someone the other day do you know Stripe Stripes payment
- 39:59processor? Online like yeah, so somebody
- 40:02vibe coded their whole app and got a bunch they have a bunch of
- 40:05customers and stuff like that and then it put the API keys in
- 40:10the front end code right So you could go in and you know view
- 40:13the code on the front end and the API keys for striper in
- 40:15there and then somebody duh, somebody got them and then like
- 40:22charged them a bunch of money charged all they cut got all the
- 40:24the the tokens for all their customers charged all their
- 40:27customers a bunch of money like a it yeah, you got to be very
- 40:30careful yes don't trust these things to like do the right.
- 40:34None of them are a replacement for anything.
- 40:37It's like I said with the Formula One thing, they will
- 40:39confidently do the wrong thing. And then when you go, is that
- 40:43all right? They'll go, yeah, it's fine.
- 40:44And if you don't know, right, if you can't specifically say to
- 40:47it, no, no, you put the fucking API keys on the front end, mate.
- 40:50And then it goes, you're right, I did do that and I shouldn't
- 40:53have done that. Like, But if you don't know,
- 40:56it's going to just tell you no, no, it's fine mate.
- 41:01And even say don't do that. If people making games just
- 41:04solely using that, it's going to be so bloated and runs so
- 41:08poorly. It's not going to be.
- 41:09Yeah, yeah. It yeah, it does weird stuff.
- 41:13Yeah. And it's destroying the world,
- 41:18yes. So who knows.
- 41:19And I mean, it's not going away, obviously.
- 41:21It's not going away, but yeah, like, like, what?
- 41:24I've heard, like one question uses like 6 liters of water,
- 41:27which is insane. Yeah.
- 41:32And that's just asking questions, let alone giving
- 41:34Natalie Portman big tits. Yeah, one of them's worth it and
- 41:42one of them's not. Depends on what the question is.
- 41:46Unless the question is can you please give Natalie Portman big
- 41:49tits. In which case worth it?
- 41:526 liters of water worth it? Worth it?
- 41:56Yeah, right. So you've.
- 41:58Brought up the F1 a fair bit. Should we maybe talk about this,
- 42:02about how you may have to readjust your viewing schedule?
- 42:07Yeah, so people may have heard there's a conflict happening
- 42:14currently in the Middle East of of.
- 42:17Yeah, it's a question of when the fuck that's going to end.
- 42:22And there's a lot of F1 races in the Middle East, and in
- 42:25particular, there's a lot of Formula One races in places that
- 42:29are currently being bombed. So yeah.
- 42:33So the first three races we've got Australia is this weekend,
- 42:39and then I think it's Japan is coming up.
- 42:41And there's another one that's not, I can't remember the first
- 42:46three races. Oh, Australia, China, Australia,
- 42:49China and Japan. So that'll be fine.
- 42:50Australia should be fine, yeah. But then so that's, you know,
- 42:55that gets buzzes a month. Yeah.
- 42:57So and then and then they're off into the Middle East for a for a
- 43:01stretch. And it's just some questions to
- 43:03whether they'll be able to do it.
- 43:04Yeah. Because they literally, it's
- 43:08happened once before in I forget, I forget where, but like
- 43:13something literally a missile strike was on.
- 43:17Like you could see it from the track.
- 43:19There was a missile strike on something and it was like, OK,
- 43:23and they would. Do do we drive or do we pit?
- 43:26Exactly. Yeah, red flag.
- 43:33Yeah. So they they're talking about
- 43:34where they reschedule or I mean, and then depending on how long,
- 43:40Yeah, no one knows. Like it reschedules only works
- 43:43if it's eventually going to be cleared up by the end of the
- 43:47year, you know what I mean? Yeah, and it's a big thing.
- 43:50Like do you research or do you try and bring some races
- 43:53forward? Is that even possible or?
- 43:56Well, it's, yeah, it's a big, it's a big enterprise.
- 43:58Like a Formula One race is a big fucking enterprise.
- 44:03Australia. We race through the streets in
- 44:04Australia, don't we? In Albert Park in I think it's
- 44:09it's a track, isn't? It I think it would used to be
- 44:12up in Brisbane. Yeah, that.
- 44:14Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was that was on the road.
- 44:16Albert Park Circuit. Let's see.
- 44:20Albert Park Circuit is a street circuit.
- 44:22Oh, OK. No, you're right.
- 44:24You're right. You're right.
- 44:27Albert Park is the suburb. Yep, and there'll be a few
- 44:31others that are St. circuits and so yeah, move to.
- 44:34There. Is a big thing.
- 44:36It's not just. Yes, if it's not at a racetrack,
- 44:39it's a problem because it's like literally the.
- 44:41Roads. It's at a racetrack.
- 44:42Formula One's not the only. No, that's.
- 44:45Right, those tracks. It's like you can't just move a
- 44:47convention because you booked a time.
- 44:51Like, Yeah. And Speaking of conventions,
- 44:54packs coming up. Is coming up, I've got my leave
- 44:57all booked from PAX Australia. PAX Australia 9th.
- 44:59Oh yeah, the 11th of October. I can say, yeah, we should, we
- 45:02should announce that that's happened.
- 45:03If you want to go to PAX Australia, can you buy passes
- 45:06yet? Not yet.
- 45:07They go on sale on the 24th of this month, Yeah.
- 45:09See. You've got all the details.
- 45:10You've got all the details 24th. All right, ready to go.
- 45:13I would love to go to Pax Oz this year, but I don't think
- 45:16that's feasible. Maybe next year.
- 45:19Yeah. I want to get back to PAX East.
- 45:22We should be going to very shortly.
- 45:24Yep, 2 weeks. So if any watchers or listeners
- 45:29are going to be the witnesses we call, we call our audience
- 45:32witnesses. I keep forgetting.
- 45:33Any witnesses going to be at PAX East?
- 45:35Let us know. Matt will buy you a drink.
- 45:39Sure, Yeah, Jenna and I will be there, probably at the whatever.
- 45:46It's usually Voodoo. Ranger has a booth.
- 45:48Probably be at the Ranger booth drinking beer.
- 45:52And you're and pax is 4 days isn't it?
- 45:55Yep. Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 45:56Sunday. Yep.
- 45:57Yep. Yeah, it looks Morgan.
- 45:59They announced the exhibitors, you know, the show floor.
- 46:02And I was confused at first because I looked through it and
- 46:06I was like, I don't really see any.
- 46:07I didn't really see anybody. It's all indie, indie stuff,
- 46:09which is fine, actually quite like that.
- 46:11It's all indie stuff now. It's smaller and it's more like,
- 46:14you know, I know what the big it.
- 46:15It was nice back when it was like the the first packs I went
- 46:20to was like BioShock Infinite. Yeah.
- 46:23Fucking Aliens. What's that Aliens game?
- 46:26Randy Pitchford Coloured lot. Marines, Colonial Marines,
- 46:30Colonial Marines. It was a bunch of big stuff.
- 46:33And then I went Firefall. Remember that game?
- 46:36Yep, Yep. It was all it used to be.
- 46:39There used to be tons of big stuff there.
- 46:40And then when we did PAX East it was the same, right?
- 46:42There was tons of big games. I can't remember what was it?
- 46:44PAX East the first time we came now.
- 46:46Now there was Borderlands. That was the big.
- 46:48Thing. Oh, right.
- 46:49Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. Fuck, yeah.
- 46:52And so, well, so there's none of that now.
- 46:54The big, the big games aren't there, not usually.
- 46:57And so it's very small indie games a lot, but lots of them,
- 47:02which is it's kind of cool. Things happened in Australia
- 47:05like Nintendo are still there in a big way.
- 47:08So the announcement said I was looking through the list and I
- 47:10didn't see Nintendo. And I was like, oh, even
- 47:12Nintendo's not there anymore. But then they sent out an e-mail
- 47:14that said no, no, no, Nintendo returns.
- 47:16So the Nintendo is going to be there but but I didn't see them
- 47:19on the the the list so maybe the list was out of date or
- 47:22something or not up to date. Yeah, yeah, because, yeah,
- 47:26Nintendo's been the only one that's been consistently like
- 47:29having a big presence there. Yeah, Xbox did this year, but
- 47:34that was just because of the new handheld, because that sort of
- 47:37tidy. OK, Xbox did.
- 47:39Very nicely. Last year.
- 47:41It was released in October and packaged in October, so it was
- 47:44just perfect advertising for it. Yeah.
- 47:48But yeah, Sony wasn't Sony. I don't think it's been there
- 47:50for a while. No, it was Sony held out the
- 47:54longest I think when COVID happened.
- 47:57So there was whatever the PAX East the year, the year that
- 48:00COVID showed up, all of them started pulling out.
- 48:05Yeah. And and we went still that year
- 48:08and it was very strange that year.
- 48:11It was very, very, I mean, because they lost a bunch of big
- 48:15booths, I guess. So it all just got kind of got
- 48:17got weird. And then from then on the next
- 48:23few years because of COVID and everything, they all just were
- 48:25like, oh, we'll just do like online community events or
- 48:27whatever. And then I guess that was so
- 48:28successful that now they just don't bother.
- 48:31Doing yeah, no, the big story. Yeah, We'll just do a big show
- 48:34online. Everyone watches it.
- 48:35Everyone on the trailers anyway. We don't have to spend the money
- 48:39on packs, basically. Yeah, it's like that sucks.
- 48:43But it's good that we got the replacement with the indie
- 48:46stuff, which is the stuff that quite like, because that's what
- 48:49killed. Well, there are people who need
- 48:50it, that's they need their game put in front of people like I
- 48:52don't Xbox and you know, the big AAA games.
- 48:57We know about them. Yeah, like it's nice to go see
- 48:59them early or whatever, but we know about them, like the indie
- 49:02games. I wouldn't see them otherwise.
- 49:03So, so many games I've yeah would never have come across if
- 49:07it wasn't for seeing them and watch.
- 49:08And sometimes it's nice watching them grow over years.
- 49:11Yes, they'll bring it once and it'll be, oh, OK, Then the next
- 49:14year it's coming. They've sort of taken feedback
- 49:17from shows they've been to. And it's.
- 49:18Yeah. And often when you go to beat,
- 49:21often when you see a game and you go, oh, that looks like a
- 49:23cool game, and you go up and you go tell me about the game.
- 49:25You're talking to the developer. You're not.
- 49:27It's not like some PR person. It's just, it's the fucking guy
- 49:30who made it like, Yep, oh girl, I should say yes.
- 49:34And I'll give them feedback. OK, whether they whether they
- 49:40want them or not, we'll get to them.
- 49:44This game is shit. No, but it's sort of nice
- 49:49because remember E3? What killed E3 was actually all
- 49:53the big like Xbox, Sony, Nintendo or not going to E3 but
- 49:59having their events on at E3. Yeah, the one I Jenna and I've
- 50:04been to E3 once and it was right before it went Alpha Cliff
- 50:10because it was, I think it was the year that Microsoft said
- 50:13we're not going to be at E3, We're going to be next door.
- 50:17Yeah, yeah, exactly. Around the corner.
- 50:19And if you have an E3 badge, you can come, but we're not going to
- 50:24be at E3. And it's like, oh, OK.
- 50:26Oh, that and, and Devolver also wasn't at E3.
- 50:29They were across the road for some reason.
- 50:31There was a reason for that. I can't remember what it was.
- 50:34But anyway, it was, it was the beginning of that was.
- 50:37Like they were still getting, like all the big shooters were
- 50:39still getting all the excitement from E3 and everything, but
- 50:44weren't giving us any money. Yeah, exactly.
- 50:47Yes. And Nintendo and Sony were still
- 50:48inside like in E3. And then there was a bunch of
- 50:53that that was that was actually, that was good.
- 50:56I liked E3. I'm glad I got to experience it
- 51:00sort of as it. Well, I know it would have been
- 51:02different had everything been in the one building, but but it was
- 51:05it was similar. I think that was that was fun.
- 51:10But yes, that was also the beginning of the the end of.
- 51:14The end. Of all that.
- 51:16Yep. Yeah, because yeah, why?
- 51:18Why would even continue if you're not getting paid for it?
- 51:21Bethesda's not doing the Bethesda Game Days thing at PAX.
- 51:24See, they they actually got early on the train of not doing
- 51:27PAX. They just rented out the the bar
- 51:30next door. Bethesda actually do do come to
- 51:34PAX Australia, but not in the way you expect.
- 51:39They're there, they're putting on like the bar, they're putting
- 51:42on little things around, but there's no like big Bethesda's.
- 51:46So they're inside packs, but they're not OK interesting
- 51:50they've. Got little things going around
- 51:52like they do a lot of, like they'll give a lot of prizes to
- 51:56some of the charities to give away for when they're like money
- 51:59and stuff. They're running the.
- 52:01Yeah, running the bar, Yeah. They'll set up like another
- 52:04cafe, which should be like Red Rocket, but there's no Oh yeah,
- 52:08but there's the booth. Like he's Elder Scrolls.
- 52:11He's. Yeah, he's the new fallout.
- 52:13Whatever. Well, they don't have any any
- 52:16new coming out No in the short term anyway, but they used to do
- 52:20the Bethesda game days at the you you would probably remember.
- 52:23You know, PAX is at the Convention Center and then right
- 52:25next to it is a hotel and in the hotel is a comedy club like a
- 52:28bar. Yep.
- 52:29And they would just rent out that whole bar.
- 52:31Yep and and invite everybody to come over and and.
- 52:35Because they. Do that instead.
- 52:36I did that and I ended up because they they spread it out
- 52:39into like you've got an hour in here and then the next people
- 52:43grew coming. I wasn't there for about 3 hours
- 52:45just talking to people. Yeah.
- 52:46Yeah, and you get free drinks and they have free food and like
- 52:50they had like retro consoles set up, everything like that.
- 52:52It was fucking great they had. But like they don't do it
- 52:55anymore. No, which is a shame.
- 52:58Not since COVID. Yeah.
- 53:02Last year Red Bull did an event in that bar, but it wasn't as
- 53:07good because it was just, well, I just had, like a DJ and then
- 53:11they gave out prizes and stuff and I was like, well, I don't
- 53:14care. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:17I have no interest in this. Yeah, I don't.
- 53:20Red Bull's fine. Yeah.
- 53:23Yeah, you know. What?
- 53:24I'm not going to get invited again this year?
- 53:26Now, I shouldn't be saying this. I'm not going to get invited
- 53:27this year, but we'll see. I need to start keeping an eye
- 53:32on my e-mail, see what's coming up.
- 53:35Be prepared. Something that's coming up.
- 53:39This is a, a pivot away from games briefly.
- 53:43There is a podcast called I think once we were spacemen and
- 53:48it's Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudic talking about Firefly and
- 53:53stuff. And they've had people who were
- 53:55on Firefly on the show and they talk about stuff and you know,
- 53:59it's I it's been pretty successful, I think.
- 54:02And they haven't they, they over the last week or two, they've
- 54:07been posting these videos on like Instagram and everywhere.
- 54:10It's Nathan Fillion going around to all the people from fire, all
- 54:15the actors and actresses from Firefly's house knocking on the
- 54:18door. And then it's a, it's the theme
- 54:21of it basically is there's a little comedy skit or whatever,
- 54:23but they're in it. They all open the door and then
- 54:27something funny happens or whatever.
- 54:28And then they go, is it finally time?
- 54:31And he goes, yes, it's finally time.
- 54:34And then it ends and it's like, what the fuck?
- 54:38And so and and not only that, like so hype is building what
- 54:43it's time for what? And and they said on one of
- 54:46them, in the caption of one of them, he said people are
- 54:48guessing podcast convention, like blah, blah.
- 54:54And he's like, it's none of those things.
- 54:56It's like, what is it? And so now obviously people are
- 55:01like, it's a fucking reboot or continuation of Firefly I.
- 55:05Heard that? Yeah.
- 55:07It's probably not, but they're certainly leading us in that
- 55:11direction. See what happens and this
- 55:13happened to me today. I was something popped up as an
- 55:17article and it was sequel to Starship.
- 55:24What was the stash game where the kid plays a video game and
- 55:27goes to space? Last star fighter.
- 55:30Last star fighter sequence, last star fighters coming and I've
- 55:33got excited. I click on it.
- 55:34No, there's a comic coming on that's a.
- 55:36Continuation of the story, right?
- 55:38Maybe it's an animated thing? Maybe it's an animated thing?
- 55:41Which would still be good, but like, but, and so far, Adam
- 55:46Baldwin is not one of the people he's been knocking on the door.
- 55:50And I really hope if they do do that one he opens the door and
- 55:52tells him to scram. Well, well, The thing is, Alan
- 55:57Tudyk can't come back. Of course he can't.
- 56:02Yeah, good point. Well, who knows?
- 56:05Science fiction. He's a leaf on the wind.
- 56:08He's a leaf on the wind. But yeah, I mean, but this is
- 56:13like they're hyping this up, whatever this is.
- 56:16And then people are like, Oh yeah, because the Buffy thing is
- 56:19happening and it's, it's like, yeah, but that's not even out
- 56:21yet. Like, and that doesn't matter
- 56:25because Firefly and Buffy are very different in like level of
- 56:29success and, and like how known they are.
- 56:33And also the Buffy was huge. Also, the amount of, if it was
- 56:36live action, the amount of money per episode would be very
- 56:39different as well. Yeah.
- 56:42But it it anyway. So there's an announcement
- 56:43coming like they said. Is it the 16th?
- 56:46I think like they've clarified here we go once with Spaceman
- 56:5415th. Some of you have guessed, some
- 56:58of you have guessed convention, podcast or crossover.
- 57:00You are wrong. That is what Nathan Fillion
- 57:03said. It's not a podcast convention or
- 57:06a crossover. Well, I could very easily
- 57:10understand that not being a convention because they've done
- 57:12plenty of them already, so that wouldn't be a big thing.
- 57:18Crossover with what? Yeah, I I mean, I mean they know
- 57:25what they're doing, right? Like they are getting everybody
- 57:29thinking that this is either a new movie.
- 57:32That's how I think there's ATV show.
- 57:33So if you don't know about Firefly is it was ATV series.
- 57:35It was like what like? It was 13 episodes that Fox
- 57:40ruined. Yeah, so they started shooting
- 57:44it, got approved, the pilot got approved, they started shooting
- 57:47it. For some reason, Fox decided to
- 57:50air them in the wrong order. Yeah, somebody made a decision.
- 57:55I can't remember why. There was some weird.
- 57:56Justification for it because the first one was.
- 57:59Was downer. It was.
- 58:00Dark. Yeah, yeah.
- 58:02And so they went, but start with this one, which is a bit
- 58:04lighter. And then they play and it's just
- 58:06everyone was what? People were confused by it
- 58:08because they're like, who are these people?
- 58:09Like, yeah, what's going on? Because the first one was dark,
- 58:14but it also explained what the fucking story was.
- 58:16Yes. And it got cancelled.
- 58:21Oh, yeah. Because then that happened.
- 58:23Yeah. So they, they, I think they
- 58:25played them out of order. People were confused, didn't
- 58:27really watch. And then they then they were
- 58:29like, OK, we'll put it on a different late time slot.
- 58:31And then even less people watched it because of that.
- 58:34And then it basically it was never really given a chance.
- 58:37And then they made a movie. Of course, people finally got to
- 58:42see it in order and went, oh, this show is amazing.
- 58:45Yes, and everyone. And it developed a huge fan base
- 58:47and then they got given the money to make a movie, Serenity,
- 58:50which I think was successful and it was a good movie.
- 58:55And so now as we said, Nathan Fillion, who was the star of the
- 58:57show, played Mel Reynolds. He is going around posting these
- 59:02videos of him tell telling all the previous stars of the show
- 59:07except I think one of them died. The Shepherd, the doctor, I
- 59:10think he's dead so he's not going to be in it either.
- 59:13He. Did dignity?
- 59:14Yeah, telling him it's time. Yep.
- 59:18But time for what? Don't know.
- 59:19But not time for any of those things he listed.
- 59:21It's something we find out in the 15th.
- 59:26If they if he was hyping up any of those things like a
- 59:28conventional podcast from Crossover, I would be so annoyed
- 59:32if that was the announcement. Well, that's the thing.
- 59:35He knows what he's doing. Like, he, he, he's going to piss
- 59:38a lot of people off if it's not something good at this point,
- 59:41right? If they're like, like, oh, it's
- 59:43just, yeah, it's just a photo of us all together.
- 59:46Here's a photo of us standing together like we're fucking.
- 59:49We're doing a reunion show, like we're going to talk about it.
- 59:54Yeah. What's?
- 59:54That a rewatch? Yeah.
- 59:56Like no, no, no, no. We want something big.
- 1:00:01We want, yeah, another season or another movie.
- 1:00:06I'd prefer another season actually.
- 1:00:08I would love that, but is that feasible?
- 1:00:13Oh, wait, he said. Adam Baldwin is.
- 1:00:17Oh, hang on, sorry, Help the careers off because I'm sure
- 1:00:19that he said. I mean, I haven't seen them go
- 1:00:21to Adam Baldwin's house. What is Adam Baldwin even doing
- 1:00:24these days? Waiting for who?
- 1:00:26Wait, he's here? They just did.
- 1:00:29Oh, they just did. And he's dressed as Jane.
- 1:00:34Come on. What the fuck is what?
- 1:00:37What is this? Come on guys, what is this?
- 1:00:41Oh my God, does he seem in? Yeah.
- 1:00:44He's got they got the hat on and everything.
- 1:00:47Yeah. So I don't know.
- 1:00:49Yeah, OK, we don't know what this is, but they are certainly
- 1:00:53teasing us. Yes.
- 1:00:59Anyway, come on 15th. So when is the 15th?
- 1:01:03Will we know? Next week?
- 1:01:04No. We won't.
- 1:01:06We won't know by the time this episode.
- 1:01:07We film this episode, unfortunately.
- 1:01:09We'll know. Nothing on a Sunday.
- 1:01:13Yeah, that's a bit weird. We'll know during the Chinese
- 1:01:17Grand Prix. Yeah.
- 1:01:20After the Chinese grand. Prix.
- 1:01:23Yeah, there's Jane. Yeah.
- 1:01:26So, OK, I mean that that's even more because I was thinking they
- 1:01:32won't go to Adam Baldwin's house because there was, you know, he
- 1:01:35he became controversial because he went very, very extremely
- 1:01:38right wing and got controversial.
- 1:01:40The fact that he's there too. Come on, What is this?
- 1:01:44Well, actually, he's been a bit quiet lately.
- 1:01:46That's what I mean, but I and I thought, oh, they won't go to
- 1:01:48him because he's a kind of a pop.
- 1:01:51He might be a bit of a live wire to to touch.
- 1:01:55It I think maybe he maybe is not as much anymore because I
- 1:01:59haven't seen anything controversial from him in a long
- 1:02:01time. Haven't heard anything from him
- 1:02:04in a long time. I don't know what this is, but
- 1:02:08it's certainly enticing. I can't believe they've got all
- 1:02:12these people to do whatever this is.
- 1:02:16I just what is this? Screw What is this?
- 1:02:20Screw us over, Yeah. Anyway, we'll see.
- 1:02:25Very exciting. You know what else is exciting?
- 1:02:31No. What else is exciting?
- 1:02:33The after party. Well, we're already there.
- 1:02:37I think so, yeah. Wow.
- 1:02:40The After Party is where we keep talking, and if you want to hear
- 1:02:44us talk more you have to go to patreon.com/multiple Nerdgasm

- 1:03:11you get the show slightly early as a as a reward for that too.
- 1:03:14We really appreciate it. We really do.
- 1:03:18Yeah, helps make this doable because it does cost money to do
- 1:03:23this. It does cost a little bit of
- 1:03:25money to do this. So yeah, join us in the after
- 1:03:31party. After party.
- 1:03:32Patreon.com/multiple nergismpatreon.com/multiple
- 1:03:37Nergism You have to do it three times.
- 1:03:38Even as they do that in ads. It's fucking annoying.
- 1:03:41Really. Yeah, in, in, we used to do a
- 1:03:43podcast ad. They always say the URL that you
- 1:03:46go to three times in a different voice.
- 1:03:49And sometimes it's really obvious that it's what they're
- 1:03:50doing. And it drives me nuts because,
- 1:03:54OK, we don't do ads, right? We do the Patreon.
- 1:03:56Yeah, because we, I don't like ads and I don't, I prefer not to
- 1:04:01do ads, to be honest. We've never had to.
- 1:04:03We've been very lucky. And actually something I don't
- 1:04:06know if you've noticed, might get Google Premium and Google
- 1:04:09Premium, they don't like you doing ads either.
- 1:04:11Oh, OK. And they will actually have a
- 1:04:13little option button come up to go jump ahead and it'll let you
- 1:04:17jump past the ad. That's pretty good.
- 1:04:20So that even though no, because they're not getting any money
- 1:04:23from that ad read, so they just go, hey, you want to skip ahead
- 1:04:26of this one? There's some podcasts, pardon
- 1:04:29me, like ATP accidental tech podcast.
- 1:04:31I listen to that they do ads, but they do live reads, which I
- 1:04:35kind of prefer rather than the automated ones.
- 1:04:37And they also have chapters so you can skip them if you want
- 1:04:39to. And I like, I like that, but it
- 1:04:41does make me wonder like, do they get paid less because they
- 1:04:45do that? I want sometimes I wonder, but
- 1:04:48the ads are so annoying. And when I listen to a podcast
- 1:04:52and it has the automated ones, which is very common, where
- 1:04:55basically the ads get inserted automatically.
- 1:04:57Like we could have done that with one of the hosts we were
- 1:04:59on, but we we never did because like I find it fucking annoying.
- 1:05:02I didn't want to do that to our audience because I just get the
- 1:05:08same fucking ads over and over and over again.
- 1:05:10Sometimes literally, I'll be listening to a podcast and it'll
- 1:05:13go to an ad break and I just get the same ad three times in a row
- 1:05:16and it's just like, I don't know, it's just annoying.
- 1:05:19And I know you can skip ahead but.
- 1:05:21But yeah, it's still. Like if I'm doing something, if
- 1:05:23I'm out shoveling snow, I don't want to stop, put the shovel
- 1:05:26down, take my gloves off, get the thing.
- 1:05:28I mean, there's a first world problem, but like.
- 1:05:31No, no, I pay to not have ads, Yeah.
- 1:05:34I every year, right when my sorry, we're going to get to the
- 1:05:37after party soon. Sorry, you, you get this for
- 1:05:40nothing. Every year when my YouTube
- 1:05:43premium subscription comes up for renewal, I'm like, do I need
- 1:05:46it? And then I let it lapse for one
- 1:05:49day. And then as soon as that first
- 1:05:50fucking video shows up and there's an ad, I'm like, oh God,
- 1:05:53no, like. Yeah.
- 1:05:57Renew. Renew.
- 1:05:59No, I cannot live without Google Premium, YouTube preview,
- 1:06:03whatever it's called because those ads are horrible.
- 1:06:08Now that I've said all that coming next week, ads.
- 1:06:11Ads. If you don't want ads,
- 1:06:13patreon.com we'll. See you then.
- 1:06:19That's all for this week. Thank you for listening and we
- 1:06:23hope you enjoyed the show. If you enjoyed it then please
- 1:06:27subscribe an item to receive episodes automatically.
- 1:06:32We'll see you next time.
