- 0:17possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring some
- 0:20joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Last night I was able to hang out and just chill out and
- 0:34relax. My family wanted to go see a
- 0:37horror movie, and that's not me. So I love to watch movies I've
- 0:41already seen a lot of the times just because I want to go back
- 0:44and see if my perspective has changed.
- 0:47So I was flicking through HBO and all of a sudden the movie
- 0:51He's Just Not That Into You popped up.
- 0:53Now that when this came out, I probably watched it not all at
- 0:57once. It's like just in little chunks
- 0:59here and there and never sat down and just watched the whole
- 1:02thing. So I was like, OK, I'm going to
- 1:03sit down and watch this movie. And lo and behold, I love when
- 1:08little things pop out and are just like, wow, that was a
- 1:11statement. And in the very, very first
- 1:15scenes of this movie, which would be very easy to miss and
- 1:18to take forward with you, there's a whole explanation
- 1:21about how little boys who are mean to girls are doing that
- 1:26because they like them and they just come and they're mean.
- 1:30And then an older girl says to them or their mom or their
- 1:33grandma or their friends say, oh, he's not doing that because
- 1:37of that. He's doing it because he likes
- 1:40you. He told me I smelled like poop.
- 1:42Like that was the whole thing in the beginning.
- 1:44He told her she smelled like poop and be along with another
- 1:48litany of awful things he said. But he said she smelled like
- 1:52poop. And she's crying and she's, you
- 1:54know, her front teeth are out and she's sitting on the ground
- 1:57because he, I think he shoved her actually.
- 2:00And he's, he's saying all these horrible things and she goes to
- 2:05her mom and starts talking to her mom.
- 2:06And her mom is like, oh, sweetie, he's doing that because
- 2:09he likes you. And then all of a sudden her
- 2:11whole demeanor changes and she's like, what?
- 2:14And then she like feels better. And because of that statement,
- 2:20this whole little girl's world, meaning most girls walking the
- 2:25planet believe that when we were little, boys did mean things to
- 2:28us. And it was because they liked us
- 2:30and they didn't know how to express themselves.
- 2:32And I'm going to call bullshit on this because here's the
- 2:37thing. And it's so incredibly important
- 2:41to remember this, that moment that someone did that and said
- 2:45that is the moment in order to make someone feel better, that
- 2:49you and you put something in someone's head and it's and it
- 2:51shapes how they're going to make choices moving forward.
- 2:54Now, I never did those things to my daughter or to my son.
- 2:58If something happened, I was like, that tells you a lot about
- 3:01the person, where they are. I didn't make it about them
- 3:04being bad people. I just said it shows you where
- 3:06they are. It doesn't mean that they're bad
- 3:08people or whatever. It's just not what you want in
- 3:11your world. I never made excuses for it.
- 3:14And I'm very proud of that. Now.
- 3:16I'm sure in my world that was done to me.
- 3:20And I think back and I'm like, I don't have memories, hard
- 3:24memories of it, but I do have that belief that, oh, they can
- 3:30get over it and you can fix everything.
- 3:32And I think it's really important, really important to
- 3:36remember when we use our words and when we give people ideas,
- 3:40they are taking those ideas into themselves and they're making
- 3:44that a neuro pathway that's going to lead them in a
- 3:48direction someday. So if you followed the movie and
- 3:51you ever went through it and you've never seen it, it's a
- 3:53good movie. But if if you follow the
- 3:55pathway, she has to relearn what's really being told to her
- 3:58and believe what's being put in front of her in order for her to
- 4:01move forward in her world. And it, it's so ironic about how
- 4:07many times this shows up and not just in personal relationships,
- 4:11but across the board at work and all these other things that show
- 4:16up. I mean, I coached somebody
- 4:18recently who and this happens all the time.
- 4:21This was just the one that happened on Friday about
- 4:24somebody being a bully at work and how to handle it.
- 4:27And it's like, no, you don't take it.
- 4:30You've you find a graceful way to handle it that makes you feel
- 4:36comfortable. And are there myriads of ways to
- 4:38handle things like this? Yes, But you have to find the
- 4:41way that's right for you from the honest perspective of yeah,
- 4:44this person's just a Jackass and this is what they want to be
- 4:48right now. And if that's what they're going
- 4:49to be, this is what you have to do.
- 4:51And it doesn't mean you compromise yourself.
- 4:54I will never compromise myself on kindness.
- 4:56I will never compromise myself on how I show up.
- 4:59But I can put my foot down and I can change the approach of
- 5:03things. And I think it's so important to
- 5:06remember when you are talking to yourself, when you are talking
- 5:09to others, you must make sure your jumping off point is the
- 5:13correct one and that you have the correct information to start
- 5:15with. Otherwise you will be doing the
- 5:17same thing that this poor girl in the movie did and trying to
- 5:21believe something that will never take place.
- 5:24So make sure that your jumping off point is correct.
- 5:27All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:29will see you tomorrow. Bye.
