- 0:05Speaker 1: And now, the mob guys creak for your music. And
- 0:26Speaker 1: when dolce fina are, che si viva.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I'm a mob guy.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I'm Craig Colonnades.
- 0:44Speaker 4: I'm also a mob guy on KSV Radio. I like
- 0:46Speaker 4: that you put headphones on one of our guests who's
- 0:48Speaker 4: coming up in a few minutes.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I was trying so he could hear.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Yeah, so he could hear the mob music that we have.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I wanted to show him that it's like an anthem.
- 0:55Speaker 2: It's not really music. It's an anthem.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's an anthem for the show.
- 0:58Speaker 2: It's like the Star Spangled Banner for us.
- 1:00Speaker 3: My wife said that I was.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Insulting the Italians by linking us to the mob because
- 1:10Speaker 5: that's a stereotype.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Who cares?
- 1:12Speaker 5: You can stereotype me any way you want.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I could care less.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Plus, the reason we call ourselves that is we're both
- 1:18Speaker 4: from the East Coast and we're getting things done.
- 1:20Speaker 3: And sometimes you've got to do certain things to get
- 1:22Speaker 3: some things done.
- 1:22Speaker 2: It's called culture, folks. Get over it.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Someone else who is getting things done is Kim Sussler.
- 1:26Speaker 4: She is on the show with us now. She is
- 1:29Speaker 4: the mother of Brooke, a volleyball player, and she can
- 1:32Speaker 4: probably tell this story better than I can. who wound
- 1:34Speaker 4: up in the same lawsuit as Riley Gaines over trans
- 1:37Speaker 4: athletes and the ridiculousness of actual biological women competing against
- 1:42Speaker 4: men in all kinds of sport.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Kim, welcome to the show.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Thank you. Thanks for having me.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Thrilled to have you on. Tell us what happened first
- 1:49Speaker 4: for anyone that isn't familiar with the story.
- 1:52Speaker 6: So Brooke was initially at the University of Alabama on
- 1:56Speaker 6: a volleyball scholarship, and her coach got fired. Long story short,
- 2:01Speaker 6: that coach pushed everybody out. She kind of waited too
- 2:05Speaker 6: long to get into the portal to really get the
- 2:07Speaker 6: school she really wanted because she loved Alabama, wanted to stay.
- 2:12Speaker 6: Ended up at San Jose State University. Didn't have a
- 2:15Speaker 6: lot of choices by the time she decided to get.
- 2:17Speaker 7: In the portal.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Ended up there, and we didn't realize until after she
- 2:24Speaker 6: was there, moved in, in the same apartment with a
- 2:27Speaker 6: player that was on the team that ended up being
- 2:29Speaker 6: a man.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Well, there you go. Look, I got to tell you something.
- 2:36Speaker 5: I tell my colleagues here that, you know, politically, I
- 2:39Speaker 5: don't like all the trans commercials because I think it's
- 2:41Speaker 5: a little too much. But because it's so obviously wrong
- 2:46Speaker 5: for me for women to have to compete against men
- 2:49Speaker 5: in sports, I'll be honest with you, I don't understand
- 2:53Speaker 5: why moms like you have to even deal with this.
- 2:55Speaker 2: This is ridiculous.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Yeah, it really is. And, you know, I tell people
- 3:00Speaker 6: all the time, It's, I'm not a natural speaker. It's
- 3:04Speaker 6: not really in my forte. I think speech one-on-one in
- 3:07Speaker 6: college was like the hardest.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Thing I've ever done in my life.
- 3:11Speaker 6: But like you said, because it is such an easy
- 3:14Speaker 6: thing to talk about and it is so very black
- 3:16Speaker 6: and white, you know, people try to turn this into
- 3:19Speaker 6: something that it's not, you know, they try to turn
- 3:21Speaker 6: it into your transphobic or your racist, which that has
- 3:26Speaker 6: nothing to do with it. I don't know where that
- 3:27Speaker 6: comes from.
- 3:28Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 3:28Speaker 6: You know, all of the things, and I try to
- 3:31Speaker 6: tell people, it's really very simple. It's very basic. It's just,
- 3:35Speaker 6: we don't want a man on a women's team taking
- 3:38Speaker 6: a women's scholarship and in the locker rooms and living
- 3:41Speaker 6: with my daughter.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Well, it's so funny.
- 3:45Speaker 4: We laugh at that on our side because we don't
- 3:47Speaker 4: understand how this is a discussion. But I want to
- 3:50Speaker 4: ask you something that I've tried to shape as a
- 3:53Speaker 4: way for people to understand this who aren't involved in it.
- 3:55Speaker 4: The first time that your daughter exits an event that
- 3:58Speaker 4: she loses to a biological man, what do you as
- 4:02Speaker 4: a mother say to someone who is so good– at
- 4:04Speaker 4: her sport that she's playing it at a collegiate level.
- 4:07Speaker 4: There's very few humans that get to the level that
- 4:09Speaker 4: Brooke gets to in general athletically, and then you go
- 4:12Speaker 4: out there, you put everything you can to be the
- 4:14Speaker 4: best version of yourself, and you can't win for an
- 4:17Speaker 4: unfair reason.
- 4:18Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 4:20Speaker 6: Well, Brooke never had to compete against him because she
- 4:23Speaker 6: was on the same team with him. But I will
- 4:27Speaker 6: tell you she did call me after she found out
- 4:31Speaker 6: that Blair was a man They had gone back to school.
- 4:34Speaker 6: They had done their preseason testing. Brooke loves working out.
- 4:38Speaker 6: She wants to be a trainer. She's training right now.
- 4:43Speaker 6: She calls me one day, so excited, Mom, I killed
- 4:47Speaker 6: it in my athletic testing.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I won.
- 4:50Speaker 6: And then she paused and she said, except for Blair,
- 4:55Speaker 6: of course. Yeah, so Blair literally blew everybody out of
- 5:00Speaker 6: the water. Brayden is his actual name. And, um, it,
- 5:05Speaker 6: it broke my heart. It literally broke my heart. I was,
- 5:10Speaker 6: it's actually making me kind of tear up a little bit.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Like my voice is shaking thinking about it because she
- 5:16Speaker 6: worked so hard for so many years to be beaten
- 5:19Speaker 6: by a man.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah and as you said like um as a parent
- 5:22Speaker 4: you probably want to protect her in that moment and
- 5:24Speaker 4: it's crazy that we're in a place in society where
- 5:26Speaker 4: there are people pushing for more of this and i
- 5:29Speaker 4: guess you're i didn't mean to say it the way
- 5:31Speaker 4: that i did a second ago she's competing even for
- 5:34Speaker 4: a place on a team with a biological man in
- 5:36Speaker 4: some way so at some point these athletes are losing
- 5:39Speaker 4: spots or losing events to people that it's unfair biologically
- 5:43Speaker 4: do you get frustrated when there are people that tell
- 5:45Speaker 4: you that people like Blair or whatever his name is
- 5:49Speaker 4: are supposed to be competing more in these sports with
- 5:52Speaker 4: biological women?
- 5:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I get very frustrated. I've never had sleeping issues
- 5:59Speaker 6: in my life, and when Brooke was going through this,
- 6:01Speaker 6: I wasn't sleeping. I wasn't eating. I was worried for
- 6:05Speaker 6: her safety. There was so much backlash, of course, because
- 6:09Speaker 6: it's in California, so you have so many more people
- 6:11Speaker 6: than you would here in Texas.
- 6:12Speaker 7: You were just there.
- 6:14Speaker 6: That would even support it to the point that Brooke said,
- 6:18Speaker 6: up to the point that we finally got on a
- 6:20Speaker 6: video call with ICONS, the Independent Council on Women's Sports,
- 6:23Speaker 6: who is backing and funding the lawsuits. She actually said
- 6:26Speaker 6: to Bill, the lawyer, she was like, I felt like
- 6:30Speaker 6: I was going crazy because I was one of the
- 6:33Speaker 6: few at her school, because it is such a very
- 6:37Speaker 6: liberal school, you know, that believed the way that she believed.
- 6:41Speaker 6: But she also believed that she wanted to stay. We
- 6:43Speaker 6: tried to talk her into coming home. But she's like, Mom,
- 6:46Speaker 6: I step off the team and there's no voice. You know,
- 6:49Speaker 6: she really is a strong kid, and she really wanted
- 6:51Speaker 6: to be that voice. And, yeah, so, yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 5: I got to tell you, as a dad, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 5: like whatever, if my daughter went to a school and
- 7:05Speaker 5: no one told me in advance, hey, we should mention
- 7:09Speaker 5: that Sally's actually like Frank If they didn't tell me
- 7:15Speaker 5: in advance and I found out, I would go and
- 7:19Speaker 5: kick someone's butt.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Again, the intimacy of being in some of those shared
- 7:24Speaker 4: spaces together is something that you don't even know how
- 7:26Speaker 4: to protect them against either.
- 7:27Speaker 6: Then come to find out, before we found out that
- 7:32Speaker 6: he was a man, Brooke, we were told by the
- 7:35Speaker 6: assistant coach, which I don't know if you guys know
- 7:37Speaker 6: the whole story, but Melissa was the only one on
- 7:39Speaker 6: the team that was really kind of Brooke and standing
- 7:43Speaker 6: up for Brooke and she ended up getting fired she
- 7:47Speaker 6: actually told us that Blair was requesting Brooke as a
- 7:52Speaker 6: roommate on road trips because Brooke kept telling us because
- 7:56Speaker 6: she was in Alabama she played on the top level
- 7:58Speaker 6: club her whole entire life she said I don't know
- 8:02Speaker 6: what's going on here but I always end up with
- 8:04Speaker 6: Blair because what they usually do in college volleyball at
- 8:08Speaker 6: least my other daughter played college volleyball too They put
- 8:11Speaker 6: the girls with different people so they can get to
- 8:13Speaker 6: know each other.
- 8:13Speaker 8: You know, people they.
- 8:14Speaker 6: May not necessarily know very well. So they can all
- 8:17Speaker 6: kind of get to know each other. Well, she kept
- 8:19Speaker 6: getting with Blair. She kept getting with Blair. Well, come
- 8:21Speaker 6: to find out, Melissa said Blair was requesting Brooke.
- 8:25Speaker 2: All right.
- 8:26Speaker 6: And there's just so much to it. It's kind of insane.
- 8:31Speaker 9: Well, yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 4: No, I can't even fathom the idea that then it's
- 8:35Speaker 4: that close to her where there's so many different reasons
- 8:38Speaker 4: for her to be as upset as she is or
- 8:39Speaker 4: as uncomfortable as she is And there are people that
- 8:41Speaker 4: are attacking her for standing up.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I just don't get any of this anymore. It's sort
- 8:47Speaker 3: of being amazed.
- 8:48Speaker 4: I will say one other thing to you, Kim, and
- 8:50Speaker 4: then I think we've got to let you go because
- 8:51Speaker 4: we have another guest that we're going to get on to.
- 8:54Speaker 4: You've done a remarkable job of raising a young woman
- 8:56Speaker 4: to be the person that stands up in that moment.
- 8:59Speaker 4: And not many people, I think, are able to instill
- 9:02Speaker 4: those kind of values in the kids that are growing
- 9:05Speaker 4: up today. And I imagine that it must be frustrating
- 9:08Speaker 4: for you and her. You're both doing the right thing.
- 9:10Speaker 4: And there's a lot of people out there looking at
- 9:12Speaker 4: you as if you're not.
- 9:13Speaker 9: Right.
- 9:14Speaker 6: And it is very frustrating. But I always go back
- 9:17Speaker 6: ultimately to our faith, to my faith. And, again, it's
- 9:22Speaker 6: very black and white in God's eyes. It's very right
- 9:24Speaker 6: and wrong in God's eyes. And it's really just standing
- 9:27Speaker 6: up for biblical truth in our.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Opinion, you know, for our family.
- 9:32Speaker 6: And in general. And so it does make it a
- 9:34Speaker 6: little easier when you do have those frustrating moments. And
- 9:38Speaker 6: you have those how can this be happening moments. And
- 9:40Speaker 6: you feel like everybody else is hoodwinked and your eyes
- 9:43Speaker 6: are wide open. So, you know, I just have to
- 9:46Speaker 6: lean on our faith.
- 9:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 10: No.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Well, and faith teaches us that the hardest things are
- 9:51Speaker 4: probably the most rewarding things, too.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Anything else?
- 9:54Speaker 2: No. I was going to say, God bless you. I
- 9:57Speaker 2: just don't. This is one for me.
- 10:00Speaker 5: This is one of those things that I don't even
- 10:02Speaker 5: get why we're having a war over something that is
- 10:05Speaker 5: just so obviously like, It is what it is.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I don't understand it.
- 10:11Speaker 4: And I would say that I really praise you for
- 10:13Speaker 4: being willing to be out there, too. You said at
- 10:14Speaker 4: the start of this that you're not really much of
- 10:16Speaker 4: a public speaker. We need voices like yours.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But you did good.
- 10:19Speaker 6: You did great.
- 10:20Speaker 2: She did better than you. In fact, you're gone. Do
- 10:22Speaker 2: you have an Italian last name?
- 10:24Speaker 3: He wants you to co-host the show. But I was
- 10:26Speaker 3: going to say that we need voices like yours.
- 10:28Speaker 4: We need voices like your daughter's to humanize this discussion
- 10:31Speaker 4: on the side that disagrees with the crazies.
- 10:33Speaker 3: So thank you so much.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Thank you so much. I got to tell you something.
- 10:36Speaker 2: We live in a world where, like— Yes. All right.
- 10:38Speaker 3: We'll see you soon, Kim.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Bye, Kim.
- 10:40Speaker 10: Bye.
- 10:40Speaker 7: See you later.
- 10:41Speaker 5: We live in a world now where the liberals— are
- 10:44Speaker 5: supporting the countries where gay people would be killed almost instantly.
- 10:48Speaker 2: And they're going, yeah, where were those guys? What is
- 10:52Speaker 2: wrong with these people?
- 10:53Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 10:54Speaker 4: We want to bring in one more guest. He's a
- 10:55Speaker 4: younger person, too. And actually, he's the exact opposite.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Like me.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Well, he's young, like Wayne Del Trofino. But he's the
- 11:01Speaker 3: exact opposite, intellectually or logically. Wait, Russell, we can't take
- 11:06Speaker 3: the break yet. We've got one more guest we've got
- 11:07Speaker 3: to get to.
- 11:08Speaker 4: So we've got to stop that music for now because
- 11:10Speaker 4: we want to get to our other guest in the studio.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Sir, introduce yourself. Oh, that's very loud. But tell us
- 11:16Speaker 3: a little bit more about you. Go ahead.
- 11:18Speaker 7: Well, hello, my friends.
- 11:19Speaker 12: My name is Benjamin Schrader. I'm the chairman and president
- 11:21Speaker 12: of the Austin Young Republicans. And I have to say,
- 11:24Speaker 12: myself as a man, I would never play in women's sports.
- 11:28Speaker 7: So it's kind of crazy.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Well, I would. They'd still kick my butt. But that's
- 11:31Speaker 2: another story.
- 11:32Speaker 13: Same here, actually.
- 11:33Speaker 7: And I know I'm northern Italian. So I don't know
- 11:35Speaker 7: if I'm allowed to hear.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Hey, look, another mob guy.
- 11:38Speaker 7: You know, you know, but hopefully.
- 11:40Speaker 5: But talk to me in Austin right now. What's the
- 11:44Speaker 5: state of Young Republicans?
- 11:47Speaker 7: It's actually quite strong.
- 11:48Speaker 12: We are the second largest Young Republican club in the country.
- 11:52Speaker 12: We have 725 members, a couple thousand auxiliaries. We're the
- 11:55Speaker 12: largest Young Republican club in Texas. We put on a
- 11:58Speaker 12: ton of summits, a ton of events. In the next
- 12:01Speaker 12: three days, we literally have an event every single day.
- 12:06Speaker 2: What do you attribute that to?
- 12:08Speaker 12: They long for community. People long for community. They long
- 12:11Speaker 12: for friends. I mean, I originally joined to find a wife.
- 12:15Speaker 13: I met her.
- 12:15Speaker 7: I mean, I met my one.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we heard about you. We heard about him.
- 12:19Speaker 7: Originally why I joined. There you go. But no, they
- 12:21Speaker 7: long for community.
- 12:22Speaker 12: They long for friends, for the ability to contribute to
- 12:25Speaker 12: the movement and for opportunity.
- 12:27Speaker 7: And we do our absolute best.
- 12:29Speaker 4: What do you think when you hear of a mother
- 12:31Speaker 4: like him dealing with some of the younger people that
- 12:34Speaker 4: think so differently than you do?
- 12:36Speaker 3: What do you think as someone who represents a Gen Z?
- 12:39Speaker 6: It is an.
- 12:39Speaker 7: Immense tragedy, and it is utter madness. The left will
- 12:43Speaker 7: ask us not to believe reality. It is crazy.
- 12:46Speaker 12: But we can just say it is insane that we
- 12:48Speaker 12: are even arguing about it, and we must do everything,
- 12:53Speaker 12: absolutely everything, to stop that and to stop this madness.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Well, what's the challenge for you as a person that's
- 12:58Speaker 4: probably talking to a lot of young people who think
- 13:00Speaker 4: that Kim and Brooke are mean, or Kim and Brooke
- 13:03Speaker 4: are something else?
- 13:04Speaker 7: I have to say, when it comes to Gen Z,
- 13:05Speaker 7: I have a lot of hope. I really have a
- 13:07Speaker 7: lot of hope.
- 13:08Speaker 12: I mean, we are looking at the most conservative, most
- 13:10Speaker 12: religious generation in 100 years. I often joke when speaking
- 13:14Speaker 12: to groups of boomers that boomers in Gen Z, we
- 13:18Speaker 12: can agree that the millennials are the lost generation.
- 13:22Speaker 7: And, you know, it's the truth.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I'm a millennial, so it's fine. I can
- 13:27Speaker 3: represent the– that's okay. I can represent the generation okay.
- 13:30Speaker 7: There are a lot of good ones there.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I'm really excited about.
- 13:33Speaker 4: You saying that, though, to be entirely honest, that there's
- 13:35Speaker 4: a lot of hope because my nephew, who was falling
- 13:37Speaker 4: in your generation, 20-year-old guy, he would make fun of
- 13:41Speaker 4: a lot of the wokest, craziest things that become such
- 13:45Speaker 4: a part of the hallmark of the messaging on that side.
- 13:48Speaker 4: And so what do you think are some other challenges
- 13:50Speaker 4: that you might face with the generation to maybe get
- 13:53Speaker 4: them out and vote? Because I will say this, Gen
- 13:55Speaker 4: Z's willingness to vote for Trump is one of the
- 13:58Speaker 4: biggest reasons he won all the swing states. So your
- 14:01Speaker 4: group needs to be mobilized to actually make their opinion heard.
- 14:05Speaker 10: Amen.
- 14:06Speaker 7: It is important that people do not lose heart or
- 14:08Speaker 7: lose hope.
- 14:09Speaker 12: Sometimes people call it the black pill, where people say, boy,
- 14:14Speaker 12: it seems hopeless.
- 14:16Speaker 7: It seems like everything's lost. Let's just throw in the towel.
- 14:18Speaker 12: And that's never an option because there is literally nowhere
- 14:21Speaker 12: to flee to.
- 14:22Speaker 7: There is nowhere. This is all we got.
- 14:25Speaker 12: We got one last shot, and we got to use
- 14:28Speaker 12: all the ammo that we got.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Do you think it is a challenge to get Gen
- 14:32Speaker 4: Z out to the actual voting booths?
- 14:35Speaker 12: It is definitely something that we dedicate time and resources to.
- 14:38Speaker 7: A challenge, sometimes it can be. But if there are
- 14:41Speaker 7: candidates that are willing to empower.
- 14:43Speaker 6: And give hope to young people.
- 14:44Speaker 4: You hear a politician in him, right? Like as he's talking. Okay,
- 14:47Speaker 4: you hear it. No, I already hear it, dude. I'm
- 14:50Speaker 4: already hearing it.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Okay, yeah. Yeah, because I'm like, it's really hard, right?
- 14:52Speaker 3: And you're like, no, it's not. It's a challenge I'm
- 14:54Speaker 3: ready for.
- 14:54Speaker 2: It's doable.
- 14:55Speaker 7: It's doable.
- 14:56Speaker 14: Great. Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 5: It's doable, and the reality is if we don't do it,
- 15:00Speaker 5: and we don't do it now, and we don't hold
- 15:02Speaker 5: the line, as they say, it's going to slip away.
- 15:07Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 7: And they have to be stopped in nonviolent ways. The
- 15:21Speaker 7: truth of our message is strong enough to do that.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Well, and you mentioned Hasan Piker, and a lot of
- 15:25Speaker 4: conversations on the left right now involve him. And it's
- 15:27Speaker 4: crazy to watch people like Abdul Al-Said campaign with him
- 15:31Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden call him the Twitch
- 15:33Speaker 4: streamer out of California when he's asked questions about it.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Like the proximity to him and then distance from him
- 15:38Speaker 4: are so confusing and odd. Is that one of the
- 15:41Speaker 4: best ways, though, to break through with some of that
- 15:44Speaker 4: attempt to brainwash people in younger generations?
- 15:47Speaker 12: He is speaking at the University of Texas at Austin
- 15:50Speaker 12: on the 30th, and we have a massive protest at
- 15:52Speaker 12: him where we're going.
- 15:53Speaker 7: To have about 300 young Republicans, college Republicans. Nice!
- 15:56Speaker 12: And this is something that, when I heard about it,
- 15:58Speaker 12: I immediately hopped on the phone with the college Republican president,
- 16:01Speaker 12: and I said, hey guys, we've got to start organizing.
- 16:03Speaker 12: And so, and we have not pushed for.
- 16:06Speaker 7: The cancellation of that speech. We've said, We can go
- 16:08Speaker 7: and talk and let him say his crazy stuff.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Sure.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Apparently, he shocks his dog on the stream.
- 16:14Speaker 7: Like, he has a shotgun.
- 16:15Speaker 14: Why?
- 16:15Speaker 7: Because he's a terrible character.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Because he's a freak show.
- 16:19Speaker 7: Who does that? So I just learned that last night.
- 16:22Speaker 13: Wow.
- 16:23Speaker 12: And so that has been the talking point where I'm like, hey,
- 16:26Speaker 12: let's go protest this guy that shocks his dog.
- 16:28Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 12: So that's going to be great. That'll be on the 30th.
- 16:31Speaker 12: And we'll meet at the Washington statue, march over, and
- 16:35Speaker 12: very peaceful.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Yeah, no, amen.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Are you going to wear masks? Oh, no, no, no.
- 16:45Speaker 2: We don't wear masks.
- 16:45Speaker 7: Oh, no, we're loud and proud. We'll show our faces.
- 16:47Speaker 7: We'll sing patriotic songs. And no, we're the good guys.
- 16:50Speaker 3: We don't need masks.
- 16:51Speaker 2: That's right. We're the good guys who don't need masks.
- 16:53Speaker 2: All the left-wing freaks that wear masks.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Well, we really appreciate a few minutes of your time.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Thank you for jumping in. I know I got another
- 16:58Speaker 4: guest that we're going to. But one more time, Benjamin Schrader,
- 17:01Speaker 4: tell us a little bit about... how people can get
- 17:03Speaker 4: involved in your organization.
- 17:04Speaker 7: Well, we would love to have you involved.
- 17:06Speaker 12: ATXYoungRepublicans.com. You can see the tons of events that we
- 17:09Speaker 12: have coming up. Of course, we're members of the Texas
- 17:12Speaker 12: Young Republican Federation. So wherever you are in the state
- 17:15Speaker 12: and wherever you are in the nation, we're under YRNF,
- 17:17Speaker 12: the Young Republican National Federation. There is a way to
- 17:20Speaker 12: join us and to get involved.
- 17:21Speaker 7: And we'd love to have you.
- 17:22Speaker 3: You just gave me a whole bunch of hope for
- 17:24Speaker 3: like all of Gen Z. Oh, you should be hopeful. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 3: there's two people I've met.
- 17:27Speaker 4: You're one of two that makes me think that things
- 17:29Speaker 4: are going to go well.
- 17:30Speaker 3: We're not going to take a break. We're just going
- 17:32Speaker 3: to keep barreling through. But thank you, man.
- 17:34Speaker 4: We have yet another guest sitting by. Linda Ruff is
- 17:37Speaker 4: jumping into Studio 2 now.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Linda, welcome to the show.
- 17:41Speaker 15: Hey, thank you.
- 17:42Speaker 16: And I'm going to follow up with I have a
- 17:45Speaker 16: lot of hope for the younger generation. We're seeing these
- 17:49Speaker 16: people that are saying, hey, the millennials didn't.
- 17:52Speaker 7: Get it right.
- 17:52Speaker 15: We want to get it right.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Now we suck.
- 17:54Speaker 15: Family and life and conservative American values.
- 17:59Speaker 3: My generation sucks. He just put that out there and
- 18:01Speaker 3: everybody put that. It's fine.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Mine didn't. The boomers were fine.
- 18:06Speaker 5: My father, Pasquale Giovanni Dolcefino, heard that some college girl
- 18:13Speaker 5: lived with.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Someone and found out that they were a guy, that
- 18:16Speaker 2: volleyball thing.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Pasquale would be down with the stick.
- 18:22Speaker 3: The mob guys would show up and do some things. Linda,
- 18:24Speaker 3: tell us what you'll be talking about at FaithFest.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Okay.
- 18:28Speaker 16: Well, I'm the CEO of the John Paul II Life
- 18:31Speaker 16: Center and Vitae Clinic in Austin, Texas. We are kind
- 18:36Speaker 16: of a unique model of pregnancy care that we're trying
- 18:40Speaker 16: to find a financially sustainable way to provide a quality
- 18:45Speaker 16: OBGYN care, prenatal, deliver the babies, postnatal care, and then
- 18:52Speaker 16: be there for moms and families living in poverty and
- 18:56Speaker 16: for up to three years to help them find stability.
- 18:59Speaker 15: And we're doing good things. We're growing quickly.
- 19:04Speaker 16: And we believe that there are two ways to end
- 19:08Speaker 16: abortion in Texas. One, obviously, is the wonderful lawmakers that
- 19:15Speaker 16: have said no abortion in Texas to people. And Planned
- 19:19Speaker 16: Parenthood has closed a lot of surgical abortion clinics.
- 19:23Speaker 15: But we know abortion is still happening in Texas.
- 19:27Speaker 16: There's over 90 websites that make it easy for a
- 19:32Speaker 16: frightened woman who's experiencing unexpected pregnancy to go online late
- 19:37Speaker 16: at night when she's freaking out and get pills. And
- 19:41Speaker 16: we've had those women come to our center with the
- 19:44Speaker 16: pills in their hands and say, I don't have any options.
- 19:49Speaker 15: I don't know what I'm going to do. to do.
- 19:50Speaker 16: My boyfriend's going to hit the road. I don't know
- 19:54Speaker 16: what I'm going to do.
- 19:55Speaker 11: And we.
- 19:57Speaker 16: Get her to slow down, to pause. We have a
- 20:00Speaker 16: brand new abortion pill education campaign going on at Metta
- 20:08Speaker 16: and Google Ads. Let young women know, don't get these
- 20:11Speaker 16: pills without seeing a doctor. Your health, you could really
- 20:15Speaker 16: end up in the emergency room. You might not even
- 20:18Speaker 16: be pregnant. It might be an ectopic pregnancy. If you
- 20:21Speaker 16: take an abortion pill when you have an ectopic pregnancy,
- 20:26Speaker 16: your life really is in danger.
- 20:28Speaker 15: And so we're trying to tell young.
- 20:30Speaker 16: Women that are fooled by the misinformation they see online
- 20:35Speaker 16: that these are as safe as aspirin to know, come in.
- 20:39Speaker 15: Get tested.
- 20:40Speaker 16: And what we find is when the woman takes the time,
- 20:43Speaker 16: comes in, has an ultrasound, sees a doctor, talks to
- 20:48Speaker 16: a client advocate, sees, hey, you know what? I really
- 20:52Speaker 16: do have choices. And that and I'm not going to
- 20:56Speaker 16: be alone in this. I have a whole community that's
- 20:58Speaker 16: going to surround me with care. They choose life. And
- 21:03Speaker 16: I used to live in Chicago.
- 21:04Speaker 14: So me, too.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Actually, for a long time. I lived in Chicago for
- 21:07Speaker 4: like 20 years, so I totally understand. Let me ask
- 21:09Speaker 4: you this, because I think it's a big theme that
- 21:11Speaker 4: Wayne and I talk about all the time. Your organization
- 21:14Speaker 4: on the left will be shaped somehow as hateful, somehow
- 21:18Speaker 4: as angry or mean, because you're not allowing women to
- 21:22Speaker 4: kill children, to kill babies. That's the only way that
- 21:25Speaker 4: I think they can try to fight the argument that
- 21:27Speaker 4: you're making, because it's very common sense. It's very easy
- 21:30Speaker 4: for us to understand. You want to give young women
- 21:34Speaker 4: the opportunity to to keep a child. And you want
- 21:36Speaker 4: to do that by giving them answers to any of
- 21:39Speaker 4: the questions they have.
- 21:40Speaker 3: You know, the road, the roadmap.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not a choice, but you're giving them the
- 21:45Speaker 4: roadmap to how this isn't something that maybe other places
- 21:48Speaker 4: have convinced them is too hard for them to do.
- 21:50Speaker 4: And one of the biggest reactions to it is how
- 21:53Speaker 4: dare you, I guess. And I wonder how you respond
- 21:56Speaker 4: to to that, to the people that criticize our position,
- 21:59Speaker 4: your position on an issue like this, by somehow saying
- 22:02Speaker 4: it's mean? Because a lot of things we're accused of
- 22:04Speaker 4: are just being bad people.
- 22:07Speaker 16: Well, I believe women are intelligent and deserve to make
- 22:13Speaker 16: informed choices.
- 22:14Speaker 14: Yes.
- 22:15Speaker 15: And if you believe in choice, you have to believe
- 22:17Speaker 15: in education.
- 22:19Speaker 11: And so.
- 22:20Speaker 16: We don't judge people. We serve every woman that walks
- 22:24Speaker 16: in the door. We don't ask them what they believe in.
- 22:27Speaker 16: We don't ask them anything. We ask them if they
- 22:29Speaker 16: need help. And if they say yes, we march them
- 22:33Speaker 16: down the hall. We give them an ultrasound. We explain
- 22:37Speaker 16: what their choices are. And some of them walk out
- 22:40Speaker 16: the door. We had one young woman that walked in
- 22:44Speaker 16: with abortion pills. She had seen one of our ads
- 22:48Speaker 16: about get yourself tested first. Don't just do this through
- 22:53Speaker 16: telehealth or through the mail. And she had an ultrasound
- 22:57Speaker 16: and it turned out she was almost 10 weeks pregnant.
- 23:00Speaker 16: She saw her baby's heart beating on the ultrasound and
- 23:04Speaker 16: she walked out the door with us uncertain what her choice.
- 23:11Speaker 15: Was going to be. But she knew.
- 23:14Speaker 16: How pregnant she was, that the that it was a
- 23:17Speaker 16: viable pregnancy, that she had people here to help her.
- 23:20Speaker 15: And that if.
- 23:22Speaker 16: She wanted an appointment at a world-class OBGYN clinic, delivering
- 23:28Speaker 16: her babies at Ascension Seaton's new woman's hospital down the street,
- 23:33Speaker 16: she could. And we prayed for her, you know, like
- 23:37Speaker 16: we didn't know what her choices were going to be.
- 23:38Speaker 15: We weren't pressuring her.
- 23:41Speaker 16: And she chose, she, the next morning she called and said,
- 23:45Speaker 16: I threw the pills.
- 23:46Speaker 15: Away and made an appointment at our Vitae clinic.
- 23:50Speaker 5: I want to say that the way you're framing this
- 23:56Speaker 5: is exactly the way I believe the way forward for
- 24:00Speaker 5: those of us who believe in life is to talk
- 24:05Speaker 5: to people. We believe in freedom, but we also believe,
- 24:11Speaker 5: and I think we have a responsibility to help women make,
- 24:15Speaker 5: the right choice. And I think, you know, calling someone,
- 24:19Speaker 5: you know, shouting, standing outside an abortion clinic shouting, baby killer,
- 24:23Speaker 5: baby killer, baby killer. I understand why some people do it.
- 24:26Speaker 5: I think that's not the right play.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah. Is there anything you want to say in reaction
- 24:32Speaker 3: to Wayne's comments?
- 24:34Speaker 15: Well, we kind of say we lead with love.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yep.
- 24:38Speaker 15: And if you lead with love, like, we care about you.
- 24:42Speaker 16: You're not alone. We understand that. why you're feeling anxiety
- 24:46Speaker 16: and fear.
- 24:47Speaker 15: It's scary.
- 24:48Speaker 16: Being a mom, being pregnant, you're feeling alone is very scary.
- 24:53Speaker 16: And there's a lot of challenges. And we don't try
- 24:56Speaker 16: to say this is going to be easy. We just
- 24:59Speaker 16: say you have people that care about you that will
- 25:02Speaker 16: walk with you and help you find a path forward.
- 25:05Speaker 16: And we say we want to give you a hand up,
- 25:09Speaker 16: not a hand out. You know, we want you to
- 25:11Speaker 16: take control of your life. We want you to make
- 25:14Speaker 16: good decisions because when you make good, virtuous, value-based decisions
- 25:21Speaker 16: in your life, you're going to be happier.
- 25:22Speaker 15: You're going to find joy.
- 25:24Speaker 16: And, you know, I've been in this business for a
- 25:27Speaker 16: really long time and have helped thousands of women make what,
- 25:34Speaker 16: in my opinion, is the correct decision to move forward
- 25:37Speaker 16: with their pregnancy. I haven't had one woman come back
- 25:42Speaker 16: and say, You were wrong, Linda.
- 25:44Speaker 15: I should have had an abortion.
- 25:45Speaker 7: I bet.
- 25:46Speaker 3: This kid is horrible. I was wondering that, actually.
- 25:49Speaker 16: Do you know how many hundreds of women I've talked
- 25:52Speaker 16: to that have had abortions?
- 25:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that regret it.
- 25:55Speaker 15: And, you know, just really regret it and wish they hadn't?
- 26:00Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 15: I wonder how life would be if they hadn't had it.
- 26:03Speaker 4: We have a lot of guests set up, so I
- 26:04Speaker 4: think we are pretty much out of time. But I
- 26:06Speaker 4: do want to say that. I want to kind of
- 26:07Speaker 4: end with that with so much thanks to you, Linda,
- 26:10Speaker 4: for coming.
- 26:10Speaker 3: On and talking about this.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Good job, Linda.
- 26:12Speaker 4: But I wanted to say that I imagine so many
- 26:15Speaker 4: women that were so close to making a different decision
- 26:18Speaker 4: that your organization pushes to make a better decision have
- 26:22Speaker 4: told you that other thing, too.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Like, thank you so much for.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Keeping, like, the exact opposite of what you just said.
- 26:26Speaker 3: I bet you hear that constantly.
- 26:29Speaker 15: All the time. So make an educated choice. Know your body.
- 26:33Speaker 15: Know yourself.
- 26:34Speaker 16: And you have a lot of people in the community
- 26:36Speaker 16: that want to support you. And Governor Abbott cares about family.
- 26:41Speaker 16: Mays Middleton cares about family.
- 26:43Speaker 15: These are the people we've got to keep in office.
- 26:45Speaker 11: Cool.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Mays will be here.
- 26:46Speaker 15: God bless you.
- 26:46Speaker 3: God bless you. See you later. Thank you so much.
- 26:48Speaker 3: A quick break. A lot coming up. What did you
- 26:50Speaker 3: want to say? You're looking at me.
- 26:51Speaker 2: No, I just want to say this is a great
- 26:53Speaker 2: show today.
- 26:53Speaker 3: It is a great show today.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Look, I really appreciate it.
- 26:55Speaker 3: People like Linda are making it awesome.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Groups like Linda's, because that.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Is exactly the.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Right way to do it. Yes, amen.
- 27:04Speaker 3: All right, cool. We're going to take another break.
- 27:06Speaker 4: After this break, we'll be back in just a bit
- 27:08Speaker 4: on The Voice of Texas, KSEV Radio.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Mob guys.
- 27:11Speaker 3: The mob guys. Here we go.
- 27:26Speaker 11: What do we really know about James Tallarico?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Tallarico said.
- 27:30Speaker 8: Defending trans Texans is something we have to do every day.
- 27:34Speaker 11: Tallarico supported using taxpayer dollars for sex change surgeries on
- 27:38Speaker 11: young children, claimed denying your child's gender identity is abusive,
- 27:42Speaker 11: said the trans community needs abortion care too, and even
- 27:46Speaker 11: called Jesus a radical feminist and said God is non-binary.
- 27:51Speaker 8: Defending trans Texas is something we have to do every day.
- 27:54Speaker 2: But it gets worse.
- 27:56Speaker 11: James Tallarico voted to allow biological men access to women's
- 28:00Speaker 11: bathrooms in schools and for biological boys to play in
- 28:03Speaker 11: girls' sports, saying some things are more important than fair
- 28:07Speaker 11: competition in sports.
- 28:09Speaker 8: Defending trans Texas is something we have to do every day.

- 31:19Speaker 3: Welcome to the show, Cheryl.
- 31:21Speaker 13: Thank you. I'm really glad to be here.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Thrilled to have you on.
- 31:24Speaker 4: So tell us some of the challenges that you've been
- 31:26Speaker 4: hearing about from constituents that you think you will help
- 31:30Speaker 4: answer these questions. Like just a very basic, very overarching,
- 31:34Speaker 4: what is some of the stuff you've been hearing that
- 31:35Speaker 4: people are complaining about the most?
- 31:38Speaker 13: Affordability, affordability, affordability.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Sure.
- 31:41Speaker 13: People are not happy with the cost of living. Let's
- 31:43Speaker 13: just be blunt about it. And the good news is,
- 31:46Speaker 13: as a builder.
- 31:47Speaker 10: Housing is the biggest issue associated with that, so I
- 31:50Speaker 10: certainly know how to go and attack it.
- 31:52Speaker 13: And property tax. It's all kind of tied together there.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Yeah, with mortgage rates now over 7%, and with our
- 32:02Speaker 5: mortgage rules, people having to put down 20%, having to
- 32:05Speaker 5: have hundreds of thousands of dollars to potentially buy a
- 32:08Speaker 5: house these days, houses getting more expensive. What do you
- 32:11Speaker 5: tell folks about how we fix this?
- 32:15Speaker 11: Well.
- 32:17Speaker 10: You know, there's a lot of regulations coming at it
- 32:20Speaker 10: at housing that are doing nothing more than driving the
- 32:22Speaker 10: cost up.
- 32:23Speaker 13: But we have a basic reality here.
- 32:25Speaker 10: We have 1,800 people a day moving to Texas, and
- 32:27Speaker 10: a large portion of those are in my area, the
- 32:30Speaker 10: Dallas DFW area. And when you have that many people coming,
- 32:33Speaker 10: you go through your entire supply every year. We can't
- 32:36Speaker 10: build apartments and housing fast enough, and we're running out
- 32:40Speaker 10: of lots. Supply and demand, guys, there's part of that
- 32:42Speaker 10: we're not going to fix. But the things we can fix,
- 32:45Speaker 10: we need to take on very boldly and very strongly.
- 32:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I do worry this time that people are getting
- 32:52Speaker 5: so frustrated and that, quite honestly, Republicans, my fellow Republicans,
- 32:59Speaker 5: have not done a good enough job messaging what we
- 33:03Speaker 5: are fixing and what is coming down the pike and
- 33:07Speaker 5: how difficult it was. I think sometimes we need to
- 33:10Speaker 5: level with people more than we do. I think they
- 33:13Speaker 5: appreciate that authenticity, but, but there are a lot, I mean,
- 33:18Speaker 5: there are a lot of good.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Things that is going on with the economy.
- 33:23Speaker 5: And I personally, I'm very frustrated about the way we
- 33:26Speaker 5: message it. I, I agree with you.
- 33:30Speaker 13: We just need to be more, like you say, more transparent.
- 33:34Speaker 10: And the reality is even the issue of the demand
- 33:37Speaker 10: and the people coming here, we create more jobs than
- 33:39Speaker 10: any place else in America.
- 33:40Speaker 13: I mean, Do we want to stop that in order
- 33:43Speaker 13: to revert back?
- 33:44Speaker 7: No.
- 33:44Speaker 13: I mean, you kind of have a choice, guys. I mean,
- 33:47Speaker 13: that's kind of where it is.
- 33:49Speaker 3: You know, it's interesting.
- 33:50Speaker 4: You mentioned property taxes real quick, and I can't fathom
- 33:54Speaker 4: an issue that is going to impact a lot of people.
- 33:56Speaker 4: We have a state senator that's one of the hosts
- 33:59Speaker 4: of the Amigos at KSCV Radio, Senator Paul Betancourt, who's
- 34:02Speaker 4: been fighting this like crazy, all of the insane property
- 34:05Speaker 4: tax hikes and how much of an impact it does have.
- 34:08Speaker 4: on our day-to-day lives, on our ability to enjoy that
- 34:12Speaker 4: good economy that does exist. And I imagine you're someone
- 34:15Speaker 4: that would also very much fight that fight.
- 34:17Speaker 13: Oh, absolutely.
- 34:19Speaker 10: And I'm absolutely– in DFW or in Tarrant County, we
- 34:22Speaker 10: have a county judge that has really put– he's put
- 34:26Speaker 10: a lot of pressure on bringing property taxes down. In fact,
- 34:29Speaker 10: we are actually enhancing for the last four years real
- 34:32Speaker 10: property tax savings despite the appraisals going up.
- 34:35Speaker 9: Yes.
- 34:35Speaker 20: Yes.
- 34:36Speaker 13: In fact, so much so.
- 34:37Speaker 10: That the cities are now screaming that they can hardly
- 34:40Speaker 10: fund their first responders and things. I mean it's that
- 34:44Speaker 10: much of an impact. So that's a really good thing,
- 34:46Speaker 10: and at some point you have to do a little
- 34:48Speaker 10: of that pressure. It's not going to just dynamically happen
- 34:51Speaker 10: bottom up.
- 34:51Speaker 13: Do you know what I'm saying?
- 34:52Speaker 4: I do, and I also think it's crazy the amount
- 34:54Speaker 4: of times that they blame the Republicans for then wanting
- 34:57Speaker 4: to raise the property taxes in the liberal places.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Okay, go ahead.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 35:02Speaker 13: I mean absolutely. Who votes consistently to lower it? and
- 35:05Speaker 13: who votes consistently to raise. And by the way, while
- 35:08Speaker 13: we're at it, let's add income tax too, right?
- 35:10Speaker 3: It's not the Republicans.
- 35:12Speaker 13: Never has been.
- 35:13Speaker 10: In fact, to be perfectly blunt, I don't think we're
- 35:16Speaker 10: in this affordability situation because of what our policies have done.
- 35:20Speaker 10: I think look at the previous administration, and that's where
- 35:23Speaker 10: a lot of that started right there.
- 35:25Speaker 11: Amen.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Where does faith intersect?
- 35:28Speaker 5: How important do you think the message about faith resonates
- 35:33Speaker 5: with folks? I'm not a big believer in saying everything
- 35:39Speaker 5: should be a certain way, but I do believe that
- 35:43Speaker 5: faith and our politics in Texas are sort of intersecting in.
- 35:47Speaker 2: A really big way.
- 35:49Speaker 13: Faith and politics?
- 35:50Speaker 2: Is that your question?
- 35:53Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 2: I didn't mean to be deep. I really didn't.
- 35:57Speaker 5: I just think that we are facing a political battle
- 36:01Speaker 5: that in many ways intersects with the way we believe.
- 36:04Speaker 3: 100%.
- 36:06Speaker 13: I will take that a step forward.
- 36:08Speaker 10: I get the question all the time, particularly at the doors,
- 36:11Speaker 10: is why is government getting involved in all these.
- 36:14Speaker 13: Social issues, right?
- 36:16Speaker 18: Yes.
- 36:16Speaker 13: And people are upset about that.
- 36:18Speaker 10: And my response to that is because the churches are not.
- 36:22Speaker 10: If you aren't hearing it in the pulpit and you're
- 36:25Speaker 10: not hearing it You know, where you go to talk
- 36:27Speaker 10: about those issues, it leaves us no choice but for
- 36:30Speaker 10: the government to step in and say, you know, we've
- 36:33Speaker 10: got to establish boundaries that have historically been established there
- 36:37Speaker 10: at the church. So I am very grateful that I
- 36:39Speaker 10: go to a very bold church, and they are very
- 36:42Speaker 10: clear on what the Ten Commandments are and a lot
- 36:45Speaker 10: of other things.
- 36:46Speaker 13: Call you out on it. But, you know, I think
- 36:48Speaker 13: that's part of our failure, and that's why you see
- 36:50Speaker 13: this clash.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Well, and I would also wonder, kind of piggybacking on
- 36:53Speaker 4: what Wayne's saying there, because we're at this event that
- 36:56Speaker 4: you'll be coming to, Texas Faith Fest here in Austin
- 37:00Speaker 4: for the next couple of days.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I think there's still some tickets available.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Brandon Gill, a big name speaking there, but demonstrating to
- 37:08Speaker 4: the people within, you know, all of Texas that faith
- 37:12Speaker 4: has an absolute place in how we, you know, live
- 37:15Speaker 4: our lives and how we govern certain things. I'm not
- 37:18Speaker 4: saying that we're connecting church and state. They can stay separate.
- 37:20Speaker 4: But at the same time, the existence of faith within
- 37:23Speaker 4: our political leaders is vitally important. Do you want to
- 37:27Speaker 4: say a little bit about your own faith and how
- 37:28Speaker 4: it pushes you to make some of the decisions you
- 37:31Speaker 4: might make if you get elected?
- 37:33Speaker 13: Oh, man, my faith and.
- 37:35Speaker 10: My biblical worldview is absolutely the foundation of why I'm running. OK, and,
- 37:40Speaker 10: you know, I believe strongly that that is the basis.
- 37:44Speaker 10: That's how our country was even founded. Right.
- 37:46Speaker 13: And I'm just going to be very– tell you something.
- 37:49Speaker 10: I was given a couple of days ago 8,000 copies
- 37:53Speaker 10: of a constitution designed for school kids aged 6 through 12.
- 37:58Speaker 10: Charlie Kirk actually designed it, and it was given to
- 38:00Speaker 10: me free to hand out to the schools. To tell
- 38:03Speaker 10: you how crazy we are now, particularly in the education world,
- 38:08Speaker 10: half the schools will not take them. And you know
- 38:10Speaker 10: what their response is? Oh, our constitution is too right-winged.
- 38:15Speaker 10: It's too– We don't want to allude to faith. So,
- 38:19Speaker 10: you know, you look at it, and what has been
- 38:21Speaker 10: absolutely stunning to me, we had this wave of socialism,
- 38:24Speaker 10: and I never think God wanted us to be slaves.
- 38:26Speaker 13: He freed the Jews, you know?
- 38:28Speaker 10: And here we are running a portion of our society
- 38:33Speaker 10: is running full steam into slavery again under socialism because
- 38:38Speaker 10: we're afraid to admit that our Constitution is biblically based.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Do you mind?
- 38:42Speaker 4: Because we had a representative for young Republicans here in
- 38:46Speaker 4: Austin pop into the show for a little bit talking
- 38:48Speaker 4: about Gen Z and their approach to some of these conversations.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Do you mind giving me your opinion as you've been
- 38:53Speaker 4: campaigning of maybe some younger people who might be more
- 38:57Speaker 4: supportive than I would have expected?
- 38:59Speaker 3: Maybe you would have expected them to be.
- 39:00Speaker 4: But as you're going out and speaking to people, it
- 39:02Speaker 4: seems like some of the youngest generation are really embracing
- 39:05Speaker 4: some of this message.
- 39:06Speaker 13: You are absolutely correct. I mean, 100% correct.
- 39:09Speaker 10: When we knock doors, and I've knocked 20,000 in the
- 39:12Speaker 10: last few weeks, months.
- 39:13Speaker 9: Wow.
- 39:15Speaker 3: How are your shoes, by the way? Just real quick.
- 39:16Speaker 3: How are your shoes? Okay, continue.
- 39:19Speaker 13: Well, my shoes are fine. My feet are terrible.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Sure, sure.
- 39:23Speaker 10: But I want to be very honest. The bulk of
- 39:27Speaker 10: the people who will answer the door are 60s.
- 39:30Speaker 13: And above.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:32Speaker 10: That's where your Republicans and your solid faith believers are.
- 39:36Speaker 10: There is a huge gap in the 30s, 40s and 50s.
- 39:40Speaker 10: Very few people even register as these are people are
- 39:44Speaker 10: Republicans to begin with. But you hit the 20s, And, oh,
- 39:48Speaker 10: my gosh, that's the next group that people are knocking.
- 39:51Speaker 10: And I have several young men in their 20s right now,
- 39:53Speaker 10: and they are awesome. They want biblical values. They want family.
- 39:58Speaker 10: They want children. They want God-centered lives. And, oh, by
- 40:02Speaker 10: the way, they don't want to have to wait until
- 40:03Speaker 10: 42 to buy a house either. And they feel like
- 40:06Speaker 10: they're being deprived of the American dream because we've gone.
- 40:09Speaker 13: So far straight in a lot of this stuff. They're inspiring.
- 40:12Speaker 13: They're absolutely inspiring.
- 40:14Speaker 3: We're almost out of time.
- 40:15Speaker 4: This has been a lightning quick show for us because
- 40:16Speaker 4: we keep interviewing people that are going to be here
- 40:18Speaker 4: at the Faith Fest.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Before we let you go, Cheryl, is there anything else
- 40:21Speaker 3: you want to say? The floor is yours.
- 40:24Speaker 14: Okay.
- 40:25Speaker 13: Well, I will be speaking tomorrow on predatory gambling.
- 40:28Speaker 10: I got in the middle of this fight in the
- 40:29Speaker 10: 2025 session, and I'll be honest, I got my attention.
- 40:34Speaker 10: I've never been for gambling, but I wasn't extremely against
- 40:38Speaker 10: gambling until I started watching out-of-state billionaires from China, basically.
- 40:43Speaker 10: come in and try to buy state elections. And mine
- 40:46Speaker 10: was one of them. You probably have heard that story.
- 40:49Speaker 10: And that caused me to really dig into it and
- 40:52Speaker 10: how much harm predatory.
- 40:53Speaker 13: Gambling does to the citizens.
- 40:56Speaker 10: And it's harm that's heavily funded with lies. And the
- 41:01Speaker 10: lies are we're going to get a whole lot more jobs.
- 41:03Speaker 10: We're going to create government revenue. It's all false, guys.
- 41:07Speaker 10: So tune in tomorrow. You'll get to hear us talk
- 41:09Speaker 10: about that. That will be really great.
- 41:11Speaker 13: We'll expose it for what it is.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Awesome. Thank you very much for the time, Cheryl Bean.
- 41:15Speaker 4: She is the 94th district candidate for state representative. Thank
- 41:20Speaker 4: you for joining us so much on the show.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Quick break. A lot more. What were you.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Going to say?
- 41:25Speaker 5: I'm not so sure we should even separate church and
- 41:28Speaker 5: state anymore.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Seems like it's okay if they're together.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Do we have to do that?
- 41:32Speaker 3: Well, because we don't.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Like the people who govern, like Cheryl, she is going
- 41:36Speaker 4: to use her faith as part of her decision making.
- 41:38Speaker 3: And that's a good thing.
- 41:39Speaker 2: And I think we should embrace it.
- 41:41Speaker 14: Sure.
- 41:41Speaker 2: And stop trying to say, well, we're not really saying that.
- 41:43Speaker 2: We are. We're saying that you people are crazy.
- 41:46Speaker 4: How terribly appropriate of you to say that at the
- 41:48Speaker 4: event we're at right now, man.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I'm sorry. That's awesome.
- 41:50Speaker 9: All right.
- 41:51Speaker 3: We've got to take a break. Thank you, Cheryl, again.
- 41:52Speaker 3: A quick break. A lot more. Thank you. KSEV Radio,
- 41:54Speaker 3: The Voice of Texas.
- 41:55Speaker 13: Thank you.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Great job.

- 44:24Speaker 20: the difference between practicing medicine and leading it. Houston Methodist.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Leading Medicine.
- 44:42Speaker 4: KSEV, 700 AM, The Voice of Texas. I am Craig Colonese. He,
- 44:49Speaker 4: Wayne Dolcefino. And our next guest is Brandon Hall. I'm
- 44:52Speaker 4: Brandon Hall. Welcome to the program. Tell us a little
- 44:54Speaker 4: bit about you.
- 44:55Speaker 5: Brandon is the youngest member of the State Board of Education.
- 44:58Speaker 11: Yes.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Or Wayne, tell us a little bit about Brandon.
- 45:01Speaker 5: We don't even need Brandon. Youngest member of the State
- 45:05Speaker 5: Board of Education. And my first question is, the biggest
- 45:10Speaker 5: failure of conservatives in this country was education. Taking our
- 45:16Speaker 5: eyes off the prize.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I'm a boomer. I saw it that the Pilgrims and
- 45:21Speaker 2: the Indians kind of got along pretty well. Now I'm like,
- 45:23Speaker 2: I hear.
- 45:24Speaker 5: About like how we psychologically tortured them and had sex
- 45:27Speaker 5: with their women.
- 45:28Speaker 2: I mean, we've gone so off the rails in education.
- 45:33Speaker 14: Yes.
- 45:34Speaker 4: So how could you answer that question about taking our
- 45:36Speaker 4: eyes off and how we get our eyes back focused
- 45:38Speaker 4: on education?
- 45:39Speaker 14: Yeah, well, you're absolutely right. I appreciate you having me
- 45:41Speaker 14: on today. And, you know, for a long time, conservatives
- 45:44Speaker 14: did neglect education. And liberals have been at this, you know,
- 45:47Speaker 14: really since the progressive era in the early 1900s, they've
- 45:52Speaker 14: really been focusing on education. And, you know, they understand
- 45:55Speaker 14: if you can get the minds of the next generation,
- 45:58Speaker 14: you can take this country. And of course, they don't
- 46:00Speaker 14: want our students to know the exceptionalism of America, you know,
- 46:03Speaker 14: our great history as Americans, because if they don't know
- 46:06Speaker 14: how special our country is, then, you know, students won't
- 46:09Speaker 14: see any reason why not to allow us to become
- 46:12Speaker 14: a socialist country. And so, That's something that we've really
- 46:15Speaker 14: been tackling at the State Board of Education. That's the
- 46:17Speaker 14: reason why I ran for the SPUE. I didn't come from.
- 46:21Speaker 3: The public education world.
- 46:22Speaker 14: I'm in full-time ministry. But I felt like it was
- 46:25Speaker 14: really important for conservatives to once again start caring about
- 46:28Speaker 14: public education and our next generations.
- 46:30Speaker 5: What are the big fights right now that you think
- 46:32Speaker 5: are coming up for the State Board?
- 46:34Speaker 2: What's big on the agenda?
- 46:41Speaker 14: Well, we just came through two really big fights this year,
- 46:44Speaker 14: which was our social studies standards rewrite. And we wrote,
- 46:48Speaker 14: we redid the social studies standards, the history standards for
- 46:51Speaker 14: the first time in 16 years. And so that was
- 46:55Speaker 14: a huge, you know, more than a year long battle
- 46:57Speaker 14: really where we were, you know, had the battle of
- 47:00Speaker 14: ideas between the exceptionalism of America, you know, the fact
- 47:03Speaker 14: that our founding fathers are Titans of history, that there
- 47:06Speaker 14: are heroes and not villains. And so we, we're able
- 47:10Speaker 14: to roll back really decades worth of historical revisionism. And
- 47:14Speaker 14: I think we have the best set coming out of
- 47:15Speaker 14: that battle. We have the best set of social studies
- 47:17Speaker 14: standards in the entire country, very pro America, America focused standards.
- 47:24Speaker 14: And so that was a big deal. And then also
- 47:27Speaker 14: we packed a literary works list this year of required reading.
- 47:30Speaker 14: So we can get back to a lot of our
- 47:32Speaker 14: great classics that we all grew up on, but have
- 47:35Speaker 14: really made their way out of our classrooms now for more,
- 47:37Speaker 14: you know, shallow, modern works. We're able to say, okay,
- 47:42Speaker 14: we're going to require that you teach the classics. And
- 47:44Speaker 14: also for the first time in the state of Texas
- 47:46Speaker 14: in over 60 years, requiring that you teach foundational passages
- 47:51Speaker 14: of the bestselling book of all time, which is the Bible,
- 47:54Speaker 14: which if you don't understand the Bible, key passages from
- 47:56Speaker 14: the Bible, you can't know our history, our laws, our
- 48:00Speaker 14: culture as Texans.
- 48:01Speaker 3: And so we're able to bring those two things back.
- 48:03Speaker 14: Those were huge battles. And I think in Texas, we're
- 48:06Speaker 14: really now leading the whole country and what we're doing
- 48:08Speaker 14: in public education.
- 48:10Speaker 4: You said that you come from a faith-based career before
- 48:13Speaker 4: getting into politics, and we're at Texas Faith Fest. And
- 48:17Speaker 4: so I wanted to ask you how important it is
- 48:19Speaker 4: that you're connected. We're literally just talking in our last
- 48:22Speaker 4: break and with our last guest about the importance of
- 48:24Speaker 4: faith within a government, within policy decision-making. Why don't you
- 48:29Speaker 4: tell us how one has helped guide you with the
- 48:33Speaker 4: other of your work?
- 48:35Speaker 14: Well, I think there was, for a long time, especially
- 48:38Speaker 14: in public education, there was this idea that we could have,
- 48:41Speaker 14: you know, a secular space, sort of a vacuum where
- 48:44Speaker 14: there's no morals, no values, you know, nobody's religious principles
- 48:48Speaker 14: at all. And, you know, what we found is something
- 48:51Speaker 14: is always going to fill that vacuum. And so, you know,
- 48:55Speaker 14: first it was, we kind of had the woke values
- 48:58Speaker 14: coming in. Now we even see the influence of Islam
- 49:01Speaker 14: starting to creep into our curriculum, our schools. And so
- 49:04Speaker 14: like somebody's values are always going to be in place.
- 49:08Speaker 14: And what we need to do in United States of
- 49:10Speaker 14: America and in Texas is not apologize for our Christian heritage,
- 49:15Speaker 14: the Christian roots of America, because really our laws.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Our constitution.
- 49:20Speaker 14: They're based off of these christian principles that come out
- 49:22Speaker 14: of the bible and if you try to separate you
- 49:24Speaker 14: know our society from those principles that really ground us
- 49:28Speaker 14: that's where you get all of the you know insanity
- 49:31Speaker 14: that we see today kind of happening in our culture
- 49:33Speaker 14: and especially in our public schools and so i think
- 49:36Speaker 14: we've gotten to the point in texas where it's like
- 49:37Speaker 14: hey it's it's literally you You know, that experiment of
- 49:40Speaker 14: trying to say that there's going to be no values,
- 49:43Speaker 14: it didn't work, it's impossible. And so we're going to
- 49:45Speaker 14: kind of get back to what this nation was founded
- 49:47Speaker 14: on and those principles.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Lord, that's what I've been saying.
- 49:52Speaker 5: I think we're like sort of dancing around the reality
- 49:55Speaker 5: that our culture is very faith-based and you can't separate it.
- 50:02Speaker 5: And we can't pretend, we shouldn't pretend that it's not
- 50:06Speaker 5: part of who we are and how we think it
- 50:10Speaker 5: affects everything. We're trying to hide kids from bad things,
- 50:16Speaker 5: but I think I'm going to run for office.
- 50:19Speaker 2: I'm announcing it now. It's going to be called MASA.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Make America Sane Again.
- 50:26Speaker 14: Oh, nice.
- 50:27Speaker 2: I like that.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Because that's really what I think is happening. I think
- 50:30Speaker 5: we've strayed so far from the faith principles, from the
- 50:35Speaker 5: cultural principles of this country, And we need to fight
- 50:38Speaker 5: it every step of the way.
- 50:40Speaker 2: It's not a sort of sideline time.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Well, and Brandon, you're fighting in one of the most
- 50:45Speaker 4: important spaces, I think, as far as the thing that
- 50:48Speaker 4: Wayne's saying is what you're doing is one of the
- 50:50Speaker 4: things that, as Wayne said to start the interview, we
- 50:53Speaker 4: neglected on the conservative side of the aisle a lot
- 50:55Speaker 4: more than we should have. And you're seeing the results
- 50:58Speaker 4: of that and also seeing the right ways to change it.
- 51:02Speaker 14: Yeah, well, and I think what we're seeing is that
- 51:04Speaker 14: when you're willing to take a stand on these issues
- 51:06Speaker 14: for a long time, conservatives just, you know, left the
- 51:09Speaker 14: chat and really didn't even try in public education or
- 51:12Speaker 14: didn't try for reform. What we're seeing is when you're
- 51:14Speaker 14: actually willing to take a stand, boldly speak the truth
- 51:18Speaker 14: that we actually can win these battles. And so we
- 51:21Speaker 14: are turning the tide in the state of Texas. We're
- 51:23Speaker 14: not just playing defense anymore. We're actually going on the
- 51:26Speaker 14: offense to roll back a lot of the influence of
- 51:29Speaker 14: You know, the woke values that have made their way
- 51:31Speaker 14: into our education system. And that's actually, you know, it's
- 51:35Speaker 14: been amazing so far.
- 51:36Speaker 4: How hard is it to silence the wokest of the
- 51:38Speaker 4: teachers out there from from still infusing their thoughts in
- 51:42Speaker 4: the classroom?
- 51:43Speaker 3: Like how?
- 51:43Speaker 4: And I don't mean silence per se, but how hard
- 51:45Speaker 4: is it to actually force them to just educate children
- 51:48Speaker 4: and not try to force their own ideological values on it?
- 51:52Speaker 14: Well, you know, that's always a problem. We have lots
- 51:54Speaker 14: of great teachers in the state of Texas, of course.
- 51:57Speaker 14: But the education we all know that the educational field
- 52:01Speaker 14: attracts tons of leftists. And I don't think that's a coincidence.
- 52:05Speaker 14: I think that kind of goes back to what we
- 52:06Speaker 14: were talking about earlier. They understand how important education is.
- 52:09Speaker 14: They're drawn to this kind of like moths to a
- 52:11Speaker 14: to a flame. And so, you know, no matter what
- 52:14Speaker 14: the standards we're setting at the state level, we still
- 52:16Speaker 14: really have to make sure at the local level that
- 52:19Speaker 14: we're hiring the right teachers. And, you know, part of
- 52:21Speaker 14: that is parents just staying really locked in and engaged.
- 52:24Speaker 14: They need to know their child's teacher. They need to
- 52:27Speaker 14: know what's going on in the classroom.
- 52:28Speaker 3: Is there anything else you want to add?
- 52:30Speaker 5: No, I was just thinking about a big fight I
- 52:33Speaker 5: had with HISD when they were changing the names of
- 52:36Speaker 5: the schools a couple years ago, like wasting money on
- 52:38Speaker 5: that instead of just teaching the kids. Like, you know,
- 52:41Speaker 5: I went to, Johnson Junior High School, right? Albert Sidney
- 52:44Speaker 5: Johnson had no idea he was even in the Confederacy.
- 52:48Speaker 5: It wasn't like we went around with rubble flags in
- 52:50Speaker 5: school and they spent millions changing the name of that stuff.
- 52:53Speaker 3: And not teaching children.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I think that stuff is so ridiculous. It's just a
- 52:56Speaker 2: waste of time.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Yeah, well, actually, we only have about two minutes left, Brandon.
- 53:00Speaker 4: We can close with that.
- 53:01Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 53:01Speaker 3: I'm going to ask the question you're at.
- 53:03Speaker 2: I've had it.
- 53:03Speaker 3: I'm going to say it.
- 53:04Speaker 2: I've had it.
- 53:05Speaker 3: I'm going to say it. How do you deal with
- 53:07Speaker 3: all the waste that exists, too?
- 53:08Speaker 4: Like, how do you fight all the financial waste in
- 53:11Speaker 4: places that is spent on things other than just teaching
- 53:13Speaker 4: children math and science?
- 53:17Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, there's a ton of it in public education,
- 53:19Speaker 14: and I think that's, you know, a lot of the
- 53:21Speaker 14: battle is where are our priorities? Are we focused on
- 53:24Speaker 14: the core... subjects that we're teaching our students to read, write,
- 53:28Speaker 14: do math competently, or are we, you know, overly emphasizing sport.
- 53:33Speaker 14: And of course we all love sports and the extracurriculars.
- 53:35Speaker 14: Sometimes that's sort of the tail that's wagging the dog
- 53:38Speaker 14: in Texas public education and far too much money goes
- 53:41Speaker 14: to those things. So we're really looking for ways in
- 53:43Speaker 14: the state of Texas to get the money directly into
- 53:46Speaker 14: the classroom and you know, cutting down on bloated administration
- 53:52Speaker 14: all of the wasteful spending, all of those things are
- 53:54Speaker 14: a part of it for sure.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Cool. Well, thank you very much. We have one minute left.
- 53:57Speaker 4: Like I said, Brandon, you are our last guest on
- 53:59Speaker 4: today's show. Our show is done. We're all going to
- 54:02Speaker 4: do whatever. You'll be here at Faith Fest. When are
- 54:04Speaker 4: you speaking here at the Faith Fest in Austin?
- 54:08Speaker 14: I'm speaking tomorrow afternoon. I'll be there with some of
- 54:10Speaker 14: my State Board of Education colleagues.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Awesome. Thanks. Good luck. Good luck.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Thank you so much. We look forward to talking again soon, dude.
- 54:16Speaker 2: Make America sane again.
- 54:18Speaker 5: I grew up playing with toy soldiers. Japanese soldiers were yellow.
- 54:23Speaker 5: The German soldiers were gray.
- 54:25Speaker 9: All right.
- 54:26Speaker 2: And who cares?
- 54:27Speaker 3: Yeah, who cares?
- 54:28Speaker 2: What is wrong with this country? Make America sane, please.
- 54:32Speaker 4: Make America sane again. That is Wayne Dolcefino's political campaign.
- 54:35Speaker 3: He's going. I can't wait. What are you running for,
- 54:37Speaker 3: by the way? You said you're running.
- 54:39Speaker 2: I'm going to run for something that pays a lot
- 54:40Speaker 2: of money that I can.
- 54:42Speaker 3: The big paying job.
- 54:43Speaker 2: I could finally steal some money like everybody else.
- 54:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's got to be something at the
- 54:48Speaker 4: federal level.
- 54:48Speaker 2: I want to run for waste, fraud, and abuse.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Okay, cool. We're here. We're the Mob Guys.
- 54:53Speaker 4: We'll see you back in Houston tomorrow or on Monday.
- 54:57Speaker 4: We're not working tomorrow.
- 54:58Speaker 3: On KSV Radio, The Voice of Texas.
- 55:00Speaker 2: All right, guys.
- 55:02Speaker 10: Bye.
