Transcript
- 0:35None. What's up everybody?
- 0:44Afternoon TV, Thursday afternoon TV with a live stream, 2 live
- 0:49streams today. I don't know if you caught me
- 0:51late last night talking about Metallica at the Sphere.
- 0:54And now, now we're going to do a little deep dive review of the
- 1:01new Rob Zombie album. I thought you guys would
- 1:03appreciate it. I've been just trying to think
- 1:06lately about how to bring value to you guys who watch the
- 1:09channel and new Subs and everything and we're really
- 1:12looking to build a community. You can hear me talk about that
- 1:14more later on. But really and truly, what do we
- 1:20have? Long time journalism, very well
- 1:22respected. We do a lot of interviews with
- 1:25bands and we are lucky rocker stalkers here.
- 1:28What's up agent? We get albums early to review.
- 1:32And so you know, something I can share with all of y'all is my
- 1:37take on an album before it comes out, in case you're curious
- 1:40about it. Think it's going to suck a rule
- 1:42if you want to buy it, all that jazz.
- 1:44So that's what we do. That's kind of a lot of what we
- 1:48do. I made a little deck here to
- 1:50help me out. So we're going to do that and do
- 1:53the damn thing, see if we can get it to work.
- 1:57Hey yo, so Rob Zombie's The Great Satan comes out tomorrow
- 2:02of the do a little housekeeping first, just in case you all are
- 2:06curious. It's a banger, but that's a very
- 2:10two sentence review. But it's it's a lot more than
- 2:14just that. So let's talk a little bit about
- 2:16it. Transmaritos is here.
- 2:18Sky remote has passed by. What up?
- 2:20What up what up? Good to see you again for a
- 2:23little bit of light housekeeping.
- 2:25Today has been a day. Let me tell you.
- 2:30Rubber band man is here. We were just texting.
- 2:31What's up Adam? Anybody else just consider DMS
- 2:37also texts? I don't know, It's kind of all
- 2:40the same. So we're a little bit of
- 2:43housekeeping. Normally we do our live stream
- 2:46every Thursday. Today we're doing 2.
- 2:49I did one late last night also right before it was today, time
- 2:54travel. Still tuning in.
- 2:57Appreciate you, brother, appreciate you.
- 3:00So Yep, we talked about Metallica at the Sphere and if
- 3:05you can afford it, I know Gabe, Gabe is here, Auntie Mazdis on
- 3:09YouTube. I know how much of A Rob fan you
- 3:12are. This is probably something you
- 3:13want to check out, you want to know about these things.
- 3:18So yeah, let's do that. So go to, when you're done, go
- 3:23check out our thing. Can you afford to go see
- 3:25Metallica at the Sphere? I'm going to figure that out
- 3:27this weekend. Thanks for sharing, Torres
- 3:30Muertos. Always appreciated, brother.
- 3:34I'll be back in about two hours or less with my regular show.
- 3:37We're going to talk about all the things.
- 3:39Here's the graphic already made. Pontificating, pondering Kefi.
- 3:47Yeah, absolutely. And then again, if you're
- 3:51feeling tipsy, not our real ones and our everydayers.
- 3:54But, you know, we do have some money and revenue from
- 3:57advertising. But of course, we operate and
- 4:01live on tips. Tips help me buy records.
- 4:03Tips help us pay bills. Honestly, all the Super chats
- 4:07and super likes go back into the company EEE in my head.
- 4:14But here's the tip menu in case you're feeling tipsy.
- 4:18I appreciate it if you do. If not, that's fine.
- 4:21I'll probably share at least one more thing on here.
- 4:23And again, I will be back a little later.
- 4:25This is going to be a short but technically deep review.
- 4:31Again, appreciate you Tres, appreciate you.
- 4:35Much appreciated. Koienes Katsi is here.
- 4:40What's up? What's up?
- 4:42Hope I said that correctly. So there's our tip menu, there's
- 4:45our cash app. Let's talk about Rob Zombie,
- 4:47man, Rob Zombie has been pretty, you know, not maybe the most
- 4:53prolific guy and obviously a lot of people, you know, the
- 4:56Internet is full of memes and you know, Ramba lamb, Dang
- 4:59Godzilla, goddamn Frankenstein, man, I'm a jam Bamba lamb.
- 5:04Like that shit's not untrue. I think there is probably like a
- 5:07little bit of, you know, an idea that Rob maybe not mailed it in
- 5:12after White Zombie, but you know, he hasn't done a lot of
- 5:15experimenting. I think Educated Horses is his
- 5:18one record that is really considered the experimental one
- 5:22that's the most like soundtrack music.
- 5:25You know, we're going to talk about his longevity.
- 5:27He's only got 8 full length albums in his 4140 ish year
- 5:31career, but still some of the most bangerfic albums of all
- 5:37time. And again, I know that people
- 5:39kind of associate Rob most closely with the horror genre
- 5:42and his movies, but also his live show and that maybe the
- 5:45records don't hold up. And I'll be honest, I haven't
- 5:48really listened to Rob Zombie record more than twice since
- 5:53Educated Horses are sinister Urge.
- 5:55So that's a long time ago where it like some of them I liked.
- 5:58I like the electric kool-aid acid, whatever the fuck
- 6:01everybody's fucking in the UFO album.
- 6:04But you know, maybe some of his stuff seems one note and
- 6:08repetitive to some of you, but some people love him and you
- 6:11know, we're going to talk about why.
- 6:13And you know, we've been very fortunate to cover Rob Zombie a
- 6:16lot. Never got to interview him.
- 6:17Met him briefly once, which is a pretty quick and fun exchange at
- 6:21an Oz fest. I think it was the Oz Fest for
- 6:25educated horses where he went out with no show just like jeans
- 6:28in a T-shirt and was like we can be a band, which was
- 6:32interesting. And I think he had just had John
- 6:35Five in the band at that time or maybe right before that, which
- 6:39was a super interesting time for him.
- 6:42But yeah, man, you know, he puts on a great show.
- 6:45We've covered him a lot. We know he's got a lot of stuff
- 6:47going on this year, big tour, Marilyn Manson, Universal,
- 6:51probably Halloween Horror Nights again.
- 6:55Let's just talk about the album. This is the first record without
- 6:58John 5 in a long time. And I'm always the person that
- 7:01says John 5 is always the most underutilized guy in any
- 7:04project. That's not his own solo
- 7:07endeavor, right? He was in Manson for a long
- 7:09time. Didn't seem like he did a lot
- 7:11for that music play some great solos, interpreted the
- 7:15historical music well, Texas radio and the big the big yeah
- 7:21man, you know. And so this is the first record
- 7:24without Piggy D, who he released from the band a couple of years
- 7:27ago and now and has Riggs back who's been in the band now for
- 7:31like 3 more years. I actually saw one of Riggs's
- 7:34first shows back with the band when John 5, you know, switched
- 7:38teams basically like a sports trade to go to crew Mötley Crüe.
- 7:42And I don't know how much he's bringing to the table there.
- 7:44Supposedly has written new music with them.
- 7:45I don't remember hearing it, but so the new album features Rob
- 7:50obviously on vocals and usually production and some songwriting.
- 7:54Mike Riggs on guitar. We'll talk about him in a
- 7:56second. Our dude Rob Blasco Nicholson on
- 7:59bass, formerly of Ozzy Osbourne's band.
- 8:02And I think Riggs was at back to the beginning last summer.
- 8:07I don't know if you know, he's also in management.
- 8:09He also Co owns Liquid Death Spring and seltzer waters and
- 8:13energy drinks and stuff. What's the secret word?
- 8:16The secret words is Teetsy fly. It's always the secret word.
- 8:20That's an Entourage reference for you HBO fans and Jeremy
- 8:24Piven fans. But and Ginger Fish, of course.
- 8:27He's been the drummer there probably for about 15 years.
- 8:30So he's the current longest serving unbroken member of the
- 8:33band. I think as long as Ginger and
- 8:35Rob are happy with each other, he will stay in the band.
- 8:37He's, from what I understand, sober, and every time I've seen
- 8:41Rob with Ginger, at least you can guarantee he can rock those
- 8:45drums. But I'm super interested about
- 8:47Rigs being back in particular. We'll talk about why and then as
- 8:50always, I like to do a little Rob Zombie by the numbers or
- 8:53artist by the number. So 40 years in music in 2026.
- 8:56He might have had some attempts at a band before that, 10 years
- 9:00only with White Zombie and 30 as a solo artist.
- 9:04So he had, I think this is the Great Satan is Rob's eighth full
- 9:11length album. I think with White Zombie, he
- 9:13had three full lengths and a bunch of EPS and then he's had,
- 9:17you know, eight. I think this is his eighth solo
- 9:21album on top of those other earlier White Zombie records.
- 9:24And you know, I think most people would say, I think how
- 9:26Billy Deluxe and Sinister Urge have moments that hold up to
- 9:31White Zombie. Personally, I was such a big
- 9:33White Zombie fan and Sex or Sisto and Electric Head to a
- 9:37lesser extent are so baller and they're so great that I think it
- 9:40kind of is, you know, felt less than for Rob's solo career.
- 9:44But you know, a lot easier to be in a band by yourself then have
- 9:48to do deal with other herbs. Michael Treat is here, H Harris
- 9:53is here, Narwhalis is here. Great name.
- 9:56You got a great screen name. I'm going to shout it out, you
- 9:58know, So 21 million records sold combined for White Zombie and
- 10:03Rob Zombie. That's an estimate from the
- 10:05interwebs. And, you know, nothing to sneeze
- 10:09at for a very popular artist. And his touring, you know, has
- 10:13always been pretty successful. Of course, people know Rob also
- 10:17is a visual artist. He's done a lot of shirts and
- 10:21music videos, most notably all the White Zombie videos.
- 10:26He directed videos for Prong and the Stillboard video for Black
- 10:31Label Society. He originally worked as a stage
- 10:34artist on Pee Wee's Playhouse. He also was the original artist
- 10:38of the Ricky Rackman era of the stage for Headbangers Ball on
- 10:42MTV. That's how he came into, you
- 10:44know, That's how he came into, you know, being also, you know,
- 10:51also, I mean, he's been a guest on other shows like Headbangers
- 10:57Bowl, where he was an occasional host.
- 10:59And of course, he could have been the host of that show,
- 11:02would have been pretty seamless. He's also hosted a lot of movies
- 11:06and television things and award shows where he's presented 150
- 11:10million box office on his six feature films, all in the horror
- 11:14genre. I didn't much care for The
- 11:16Munsters redo on Netflix. I understood what he was going
- 11:20for. Did not love it.
- 11:22GAIL Brent is also here. What's up?
- 11:23What's up? And Tres Muertos has now popped
- 11:25over to IG. Hello.
- 11:27Hello. Appreciate it.
- 11:28But yeah, 150 million nothing to sneeze at.
- 11:30He's a very successful money making, you know, film
- 11:36filmographer, director. He's also done a couple of other
- 11:39little guest spots in his own movies and other people's
- 11:41movies. And, you know, he makes money on
- 11:44his films and some of his films were not commercially loved, but
- 11:48they weren't money losers. And of course, in history, his
- 11:52his stuff stands on its own. And of course, you know, he
- 11:55still works with Universal Pictures and Universal Studios
- 11:59as an artist and the director, even though he's not on their
- 12:02label anymore. He was on that label for quite a
- 12:04long time. I think he also had one record
- 12:06on Roadrunner back in the day. Why?
- 12:09Zombie, of course, was originally on Geffen Records
- 12:11when they signed after Carolyn. So the Great Satan, obviously a
- 12:15very, you know, perhaps triggering album title for
- 12:19people in this crazy. I think you better start from
- 12:22the beginning. Exactly.
- 12:23And there's plenty of samples on here.
- 12:26The Great Satan, great album artwork.
- 12:28I like the black and white of it all.
- 12:32You know, Rob kind of face painted and hippie looking on
- 12:35the cover. You know, he's always been a
- 12:37great self promoter and really good at putting himself into
- 12:40things. Right.
- 12:42B66 sis is here. What's up, what's up, what's up?
- 12:44So, you know, just always super interesting that he would, you
- 12:47know, accomplish these things. So the album opens up and and
- 12:52you know, I will say that I wasn't super excited about the
- 12:56singles initially. And then I love the videos and I
- 12:59saw I listen to them a little on repeat.
- 13:01And then our review of the album came across my e-mail for me to
- 13:06edit and post from her own Will Suffer, who writes quite a bit
- 13:10of stuff. And I don't think that he's
- 13:12necessarily a Rob Zombie or White Zombie super fan.
- 13:15I think he's just a good metal head.
- 13:20So, you know, I think, you know, I think the original White
- 13:27Zombie records came out originally on Rob's own record
- 13:30label and then Caroline Records, which event, you know, doesn't
- 13:34exist anymore, but a lot of helmet and prong were on those
- 13:38labels. I'll just tell a little story
- 13:40really quick before I jump into this is that, you know, my I go
- 13:44back with White Zombie before they were popular.
- 13:47I'm from New York City. Did you know?
- 13:49And I saw White Zombie open for the Lunatics and the Cramps and
- 13:54White Zombie was not good. They were pretty bad.
- 13:57They were kind of a Cramps light type of band where they were
- 14:00like noise rock and punk and a little metal, but not really.
- 14:05And they weren't necessarily great as a band.
- 14:10And then I remember when Make Them Die slowly came out, they
- 14:14started kind of gravitating toward metal and obviously less
- 14:16Exorcisto. Is this like horror scenes,
- 14:20heavy metal and thrash metal? It's much more thrash and groove
- 14:23metal than other records at the time.
- 14:26I know it didn't really come out till 93 and some of those songs
- 14:29are on the EP that got them signed to Geffen.
- 14:31And some of those songs were on Soul Crusher and Make Them Die
- 14:35Slowly, which came out before, but you know, the bones of White
- 14:40Zombie. And then they kind of morphed
- 14:41into industrial metal like, well, if we can't do that, we'll
- 14:44never be able to replicate what sex or Sisto again, which was
- 14:48like Slayer, very slayery and metal.
- 14:50But let's take it the dancy stuff up a notch.
- 14:53And obviously we got Electric Head and then that that went on
- 14:56for a couple of years where they toured with Pantera and did
- 14:59arenas together. And originally White Zombie was
- 15:03headlining over Pantera and then it flipped and Pantera was
- 15:06headlining over White Zombie, which, you know, kind of tells
- 15:09you a little bit of what you need to know.
- 15:11But White Zombie was untouchable back then, especially with my
- 15:16and Ivan De Prune and a couple of other drummers, and then
- 15:19Johnson, Pesta, formerly Testament, Exodus and Forbidden
- 15:25and Cult and a bunch of other bands.
- 15:28So talk About the Great Satan opens up with FTW 84.
- 15:33And it kind of has, it's a longer track.
- 15:35It's got kind of a a very soundtracky intro.
- 15:39I guess they could have made it a separate track.
- 15:41I personally don't like when the opening track is a separate
- 15:44track. I want one song to start the
- 15:47record. I don't want a multitude, But
- 15:50not all of us contain multitudes.
- 15:51If you've been watching industry, maybe you get that
- 15:54reference. I don't know, but once the song
- 15:58proper kicks in, it's an absolute banger to start the
- 16:02record. An absolute hint of what's to
- 16:04come. It's about 4 minutes.
- 16:06I think that's the sweet spot for every Rob Zombie song.
- 16:09Super spooky intro and then just an absolute groove metal banger
- 16:13similar to Astro Creep 2000 or Electric Head as Gabe dropped in
- 16:19the sample. There's tons of samples.
- 16:21It's all the things you love about Rob Zombie right off the
- 16:23the bat. It's groovy.
- 16:25You can head bang to it. It's got a fancy beat, pretty
- 16:28great. The second track of the album's
- 16:30a little shorter, and that is Tarantula, which I have to say,
- 16:36sorry, Itchy trigger finger there.
- 16:37Tarantula is one of the best songs on the record.
- 16:40The whole record's excellent, but Tarantula stands out.
- 16:44It's very Pantera, far beyond driven and Vulgar Display of
- 16:50Power. Very groovy, heavy, phenomenal
- 16:53riffs, great vocal by Rob, which like, you know, Rob is not a
- 16:58traditionally great singer. I know he started out just kind
- 17:00of rapping and shouting in T like all metal singers did.
- 17:04And obviously he was very inspired by Public Enemy and
- 17:07stuff to rap. I was at the bar the other night
- 17:09here where I do karaoke and one of my friends said like anytime
- 17:13I see a white guy rapping, I'm immediately disappointed and and
- 17:16unhappy about it. And I was like, you know what,
- 17:19That's completely fucking fair. But Rob is actually solid at
- 17:24rapping tarantula rules. I'll just leave it at that.
- 17:29Then the next track is one of the singles, I'm a Rock and
- 17:31Roller, kind of a generic song. I think one of the things Rob
- 17:34Zombie does really well is get people like he writes with the
- 17:39live show in mind. So it's a lot of sing alongs.
- 17:42It's a lot of stuff people want to chant back to a band.
- 17:46And I'm a Rock and roller. I think he name checks Jimmy
- 17:49Page. You know, the video is pretty
- 17:51interesting. It's got a little fun stuff
- 17:53there, but it's also like a rehearsal room, like a cramped
- 17:56little rehearsal room. And again, man, just riffs.
- 18:00And I don't know, I'm not going to say that like the previous
- 18:02Rob Zombie records didn't have good riffs because of course
- 18:04they did with John 5. But I just feel like he didn't
- 18:07ever let John 5 like do his thing as much.
- 18:11And Riggs is just a perfect match for, you know, going out
- 18:14and playing the hits with Rob and then coming in to put a
- 18:17record together. I don't know how much of it he
- 18:18actually got to write, but it does sound like he's a big
- 18:22contributor here. Great guitar, crunchy guitar
- 18:24sound. Just what you want, you know,
- 18:27from a modern metal record. Typical Rob Zombie song.
- 18:32Another single is Heathen Days. Pretty short, super fast, almost
- 18:36a thrash metal. There's a few of these on here
- 18:38that could be thrash metal, like a super fast quick track that I
- 18:43really like. A kind of reminded me a little
- 18:45bit of Supercharger Heaven from Astro Creep, which there's also
- 18:49a few more on here that sound like that.
- 18:51Then there's a little interlude Who Am I didn't do much for me
- 18:55but OK, there's a few, quite a few.
- 18:57So it's like a long record, If you count the intro as one track
- 19:00and not 2, it would be like 16 tracks, but there's like at
- 19:04least three interludes and the intro is long and therefore and
- 19:08the outro. So we'll get to it.
- 19:10Then next is Black Rat Cough Coffin, which is awesome metal
- 19:15as fuck and maybe the Best Song on the whole record.
- 19:19That and Tarantula, just absolute Ripper.
- 19:22There's an ear peeler. I want to hear quite a few of
- 19:26these songs live. Then, in typical Rob Zombie
- 19:31fashion, Sir Lord Acid Wolfman, I don't know what the fuck this
- 19:34song is about. If you know, drop a comment and
- 19:37tell me. I don't know what the fuck this
- 19:39song is about. The lyrics make even less sense
- 19:41than usual for a Rob Zombie song.
- 19:44But that being said, I actually enjoyed the song.
- 19:49It's not it's neither great, but it's you know, it's certainly
- 19:54not horrible, but I I don't understand, like I don't need to
- 19:57understand what it's about. Do you need to understand what
- 19:59any Rob Zombie song is about? I don't think so, but it's
- 20:04pretty obtuse even for Rob. Then the next track is another
- 20:08Ranger punks and demons, another short one, possibly the title
- 20:12track, because it does repeat Satan a lot in the lyrics and
- 20:19it's pretty fun. Another Shorty.
- 20:22So this record kind of whips by, even though it's got a lot of
- 20:24tracks and this is probably, I would make this a single if it's
- 20:28not already planned to be, I would do it.
- 20:30I think it kind of works for that.
- 20:34Next is the devil man with a devil man, Devil man Devil man
- 20:39lyrics, which will remind you again of Super Charter Heaven.
- 20:43Very slow, though not fast. This is more like a White Zombie
- 20:48jaws of the soul crusher, you know, like one of those songs,
- 20:54you know, really similar to the earth.
- 20:57Like sex is just a White Zombie Thunder kiss.
- 21:01You know, there's a lot of call outs across his career here.
- 21:04Almost like, hey, remember that thing you really love for me 30
- 21:07years ago? We'll check this out.
- 21:11Then the next song is I believe out of sight, which is a lot
- 21:16like an industrial metal super beast type of song and really a
- 21:22lot of ministry on this record ministry from recent KMFDM
- 21:27record that came out like really like even a little 9 inch nails
- 21:35on out of sight. Pretty cool.
- 21:38Not like Tron areas 9 inch Nails, but like the broken EP 9
- 21:43inch nails, like Wish, like yeah, he sticks to his roots.
- 21:46He knows man. He like he's not going to
- 21:48overthink this thing. I think we got the one
- 21:50experimental record out of the way from him early, the 4th
- 21:53record or fifth record, and I don't think he's going to make
- 21:55another one. Welcome to the Electric Age is
- 21:59another interlude. Doesn't do much for me and
- 22:02doesn't seem like it either. Oh, sorry, I think I skipped
- 22:04one. Did I skip one?
- 22:07OK, I got them out of order. Revolution mother fuckers is the
- 22:09next one. And he's doing like a Carney
- 22:12Barker thing like again, Rob not super great at his voice wise,
- 22:16but like he has a lot of voices. He's using effects on his voice.
- 22:20He's giving you like a lot of different flavors.
- 22:23Now I don't know how all of this would translate to a show, but
- 22:26some of this stuff is, you know, listicles and stream of
- 22:30consciousness gibberish and madness.
- 22:32But you know, people want to chant along to a song called
- 22:35Revolution Mother fuckers. You know, they just want to.
- 22:39Then the next track is the is the Welcome to the Electric Age,
- 22:44which I didn't quite like too much.
- 22:46Again, didn't do much for me. Then the song ends with a a
- 22:51super bang. OK, here we go.
- 22:54Black Scorpion is an absolute banger.
- 22:57Kind of sounds like thrash metal but with a typo.
- 22:59Negative monsters keyboard part again.
- 23:02Rob knows what he's doing. This is who he is.
- 23:05He's not going to change the formula now.
- 23:09Another one of the best songs on here and the shortest.
- 23:13I would say it kind of reminded me of, you know, I think this is
- 23:17probably the first time ever, you know, that spider, his
- 23:20brother Spider one from what's his band?
- 23:27I just had it before they started out as like spider one.
- 23:32They started out as like, you know, like sort of like incubus,
- 23:38groovy folk stuff. And then they changed to kind of
- 23:43industrial metal after Rob did, which is weird.
- 23:49Of course. I couldn't remember what his
- 23:51band is because you know, not that great.
- 23:53Power Man 5000 Oh my God, I'm so tired.
- 23:56Power Man 5000 So it kind of when Power Man 5000 they ran out
- 24:02of ideas to do kind of industrial metal and especially
- 24:08dancy stuff. They went back and did like punk
- 24:10records and now they're back again doing the industrial hits.
- 24:14So to me, the Black Scorpion kind of feels a lot like, not
- 24:18that Rob Zombie is listening to the brother because I'm sure
- 24:20this is the first time anyone has ever did this.
- 24:22This is like Rob Zombie doing like a Power Man 5000 punk kind
- 24:27of step back. I don't know that they're close.
- 24:31I don't think they've toured together much.
- 24:34My favorite band is in as much of A metal head as I am.
- 24:37It's probably Pink fluid. How about you Ghost gaming on
- 24:41TikTok? What's your favorite band?
- 24:45So yeah, like a very fast, punky metal power man, but also very
- 24:49thrashy, very thrashy. So this record's got some heavy
- 24:53shit on it, man. I'm going to tell you, I was
- 24:54pleasantly surprised. And then finally, it's not the
- 24:59last. It's the last full song proper
- 25:01on the album Unclean Animals, which is like a very slow pre
- 25:07life sex or Sisto White Zombie groove metal song that kind of
- 25:10also reminds me of Blood, Milk and Sky a little bit.
- 25:14The closing track on Astro Creep 2000.
- 25:17Yeah, Metallica. I've seen them the most of any
- 25:19band like 45-6 times. I'm hoping to go to the sphere.
- 25:22We shall see. But Unclean Animals, really
- 25:26strong, really strong. And then the album ends again
- 25:31with another little outro called Grave Discontent.
- 25:34But again, didn't do much for me.
- 25:37You know, before I talk more about the merch and other
- 25:42things, I want to read this quote.
- 25:44So we'll suffer a ghost cult and I will link this.
- 25:47It's in the description but here you go for y'all watching if you
- 25:50want to check it out. And I'll try to link it for
- 25:53y'all over on the TikTok also. So here's the quote from our
- 26:05review because it was a very high praise.
- 26:07Overall, this album is fucking fantastic and shows that just
- 26:12because you came out in the 90s, it does not mean you have to
- 26:14forsake your sound. If you were good enough artists
- 26:16to perfect it. This most likely works better
- 26:20than if he tried to get the old band back together, which you
- 26:22know that Rob has zero interest in putting White Zombie back
- 26:25together as we have heard, and certainly more inspired and
- 26:29stands tall against his best work.
- 26:31And it doesn't matter if you were hung up on digging through
- 26:33the ditches or kissing Thunder in 1965, all the elements that
- 26:37sparked interest in your ears when you first heard those
- 26:40sounds are in play. So really, really great.
- 26:45Really great review. I got to say, for me personally,
- 26:48I don't think it's a perfect Rob Zombie album, but it surely is a
- 26:52lot better than I thought and Bella Kiss Music is here.
- 26:56What's up? I absolutely have listened to
- 26:59this thing 3 or 4 times to do this review and I think it's a
- 27:04pretty excellent record and a surprisingly excellent record
- 27:08among a month of banger records in in 2026 so far.
- 27:14Puscifer came out early in the month.
- 27:15Can be really hard to pin down what the number one record of
- 27:18the month is, but this is pretty incredible.
- 27:21I have to say surprise me. There are deluxe packages for
- 27:26the great Satan, you know, a nuclear blast and Rob have
- 27:28collaborated. There's like a poster and
- 27:31illustrated book set that comes with a splatter vinyl.
- 27:35There's the regular vinyl variance and bundles and
- 27:37splatter vinyls and merch bundles.
- 27:40I do like the black and white cover.
- 27:41I think educated horses also has a black and white cover.
- 27:44So you know, after doing such vibrant blur, the Technicolor
- 27:49pun intended type of stuff, I think it's kind of fun that Rob
- 27:53has this kind of very monochrome but still cool looking album
- 27:57artwork and that is the Great Satan.
- 28:01Personally, I would give this A8 or even a low nine.
- 28:04I'm not Anthony Fantano, it is low twos, but you know, this is
- 28:09about the best I could have hoped for for Rob Zombie record.
- 28:12There are tracks that are exceptional and not a lot of
- 28:16stuff that sounds like filler except for the sort of
- 28:19interludes that are meant to be filler.
- 28:21So like, I understood the assignment and so did Rob.
- 28:25All right, we're getting to the top of the hour.
- 28:27Volbeat rocker here. Been a long time since we've
- 28:29seen you. I will be back in about an hour
- 28:32or so with an with the regular weekly show, but I wanted to get
- 28:36in. We had the opportunity to listen
- 28:37to the record a lot before it dropped, and I felt like you
- 28:41guys deserved, you know, a little bit of hearing from me
- 28:45about it. So I hope you enjoyed it.
- 28:47Drop a comment if you've heard some of this stuff, if you are
- 28:50excited about it or not, if you've got thoughts about it, if
- 28:53you don't like Rob Zombie, if you prefer White Zombie, that's
- 28:57also totally OK because a lot of people do.
- 29:00I still listen to White Zombie every week and for me
- 29:05personally, it's a lot better than, you know, most of his solo
- 29:09stuff. But that's just me and you know,
- 29:12maybe I'm wrong because I'm wrong.
- 29:15Sometimes I get it wrong even though I, you know, I am an
- 29:17expert at these things. Sometimes I get it wrong.
- 29:20I just get it wrong. Anyway, that's our show.
- 29:22I'll be back in a little while with the regular show.
- 29:24Feel free to tune back in. If this is your first time here
- 29:26and you enjoyed it, please like and subscribe.
- 29:29If you didn't like it or you disagree with me, please comment
- 29:32because I appreciate it and I take all the feedback and I
- 29:36listen. Thanks for being here.
- 29:37Thanks to our regular ones, Rubber band man Gabe, you know
- 29:41anybody that tuned in on the on the gram that we that are, you
- 29:45know, our regular fans here. I appreciate you all and I'll be
- 29:49back in a little while. Peace out, Metalon.
