- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another episode? Lucas: Absolutely. Today we're going to talk about something fun — going to the cinema in Spanish. Luna: Oh, I love the cinema! Okay, so what's the first thing I need to say when I get to the ticket counter? Lucas: Great question. You'll want to say: Quiero una entrada. That means 'I want one ticket.' Let's break it down. Quiero — 'I want.' Una entrada — 'one ticket.' Luna: Quiero una entrada. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you need two tickets, you say: Dos entradas, por favor. 'Two tickets, please.' Luna: Dos entradas, por favor. Lucas: Exactly. And after you ask for the tickets, you might want to know what time the movie starts. So you ask: ¿A qué hora empieza la película? Luna: ¿A qué hora empieza la película? That's a mouthful. Lucas: It is, but you'll get it. ¿A qué hora — 'at what time'. Empieza — 'starts'. La película — 'the movie'. Luna: Okay. ¿A qué hora empieza la película? Lucas: Almost perfect. Just a tiny tweak on the pronunciation of empieza — em pyeh sa. Luna: em pyeh sa. ¿A qué hora empieza la película? Lucas: There you go. And the answer might be: La película empieza a las siete. 'The movie starts at seven.' Luna: La película empieza a las siete. Lucas: Yes. You can change the time. For example, at five — a las cinco. At eight thirty — a las ocho y media. Luna: Got it. And what about asking how much the tickets cost? Lucas: You can say: ¿Cuánto cuestan las entradas? 'How much do the tickets cost?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuestan las entradas? Lucas: Perfect. Let's put it all together in a mini scene. Imagine you walk up to the counter. What do you say? Luna: Umm... Dos entradas, por favor. ¿A qué hora empieza la película? Lucas: Great! And the cashier says: La película empieza a las ocho. Then you ask: ¿Cuánto cuestan las entradas? Luna: Ah, so the cashier might say: Son diez euros. 'They are ten euros.' Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice those key phrases once more. Quiero una entrada. Luna: Quiero una entrada. Lucas: Dos entradas, por favor. Luna: Dos entradas, por favor. Lucas: ¿A qué hora empieza la película? Luna: ¿A qué hora empieza la película? Lucas: La película empieza a las... Luna: La película empieza a las... Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuestan las entradas? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuestan las entradas? Lucas: You're doing fantastic, Luna. By the way, this reminds me of when we learned about time expressions in episode 46. Remember how to say 'at three o'clock'? Luna: Yes! A las tres en punto. Lucas: Exactly. So now you can combine that with today's phrases. Luna: So I could say: La película empieza a las tres en punto. Lucas: Perfect. And you could ask: ¿A qué hora empieza la película? to which they might answer: A las tres en punto. Luna: This is so useful. I'm going to practice these before I go to the movies this weekend. Lucas: Great idea. And remember, you can always listen to this episode again on Fexingo. We'll have the transcript on the app too. Luna: Perfect. Thanks, Lucas. I think I'm ready for my movie outing. Lucas: You are. Until next time, keep practicing. See you on the next episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: ¡Hasta luego!
