- 0:01Hello, welcome to Heat Hop as something's off with me.
- 0:03Just Joey T y'all, I have a day today, so today's Tuesday that
- 0:09I'm recording this and I decided to run a bunch of chores today.
- 0:16Errands if you will. A lot of people run errands.
- 0:18You have to go to this store or that place or this office or
- 0:23whatever, and it's NBD. But these days a lot of people
- 0:26are working from home, as am I. Even though when I say I'm
- 0:30working from home, that means I'm not.
- 0:32I keep doing that much. But I had a bunch of chores to
- 0:36do and I decided it's the day off gym, A little bit of free
- 0:40time, Let's go do a bunch of chores.
- 0:45So one of the things I wanted to do was actually go to IKEA.
- 0:50Now that I have a car I can go to IKEA and buy things.
- 0:52Going to have a way to bring them home.
- 0:54I wish IKEA would have some way to give you like free shipping,
- 0:57but I guess I furniture is always very heavy and bulky so
- 1:01they can't give you free shipping for that.
- 1:02But in one of my bedrooms I've got these curtains that the rods
- 1:09are starting to fall off from the walls like the wall anchors
- 1:12or whatever the giving way and I wanted different curtains
- 1:16anyways with these were like using they have some stains and
- 1:19from the previous owner or whatnot so I want to get some
- 1:24new curtains. So that was that's been on my
- 1:26list forever and I was going to go apply for a passport and it's
- 1:33the first time you're applying for a passport you have to do it
- 1:35in person and a common place to do this is at a post office.
- 1:39I thought, okay, I go to IKEA and I also go to the post
- 1:43office, do the passport thing. I did a online appointment in
- 1:48advance and apparently some post office locations, you can also
- 1:51have them do your password photo at the same time.
- 1:53So I thought, okay, why not? That's easy.
- 1:55You know, two in one and I every so often I'll clear stuff out
- 2:00from the house. I don't, I'm not a hoarder.
- 2:03I don't have a lot of stuff in the house.
- 2:06Usually I have no problems getting rid of old clothes.
- 2:10Really. The amount of tank tops I have
- 2:12though, I have more tank tops than any other type of shirt
- 2:17combined. T-shirts, V necks, button ups,
- 2:21even long sleeves. Yeah, they're more tank tops
- 2:25than every other type of shirt for some weird reason.
- 2:29But I had a bunch of clothes that actually donated out early
- 2:34this year. And there are every once in a
- 2:38while you see at a gas station or a grocery store in the corner
- 2:41of parking lot. Somewhere there are these like
- 2:42clothes donation bins and that's where I usually just Chuck it
- 2:45was you close it, I get rid of. It's not high quality clothes.
- 2:49You know tshirts that I get rid of.
- 2:52It's I got a new for like $5. It's not worth it to do anything
- 2:57other than to donate it out. So usually, maybe once a year,
- 3:01look at my closet in the spring, spring cleaning.
- 3:04What haven't I worn in like a year or longer?
- 3:08And you know what I don't like anymore?
- 3:09Or are there things that are, I don't know.
- 3:12There's holes in this shirt now you've worn it and washed it so
- 3:15much. So did that early this year.
- 3:17But there were a couple of two things in my closet that I was
- 3:23like, you know what? This is maybe possibly worth
- 3:26some amount of money. So I have this.
- 3:28So there's a sport jacket that I have.
- 3:29I got it, I want to say at least 10 years ago, I think maybe 11,
- 3:37maybe 12 years ago. And I was a lot skinnier back
- 3:42that I was. I was maybe legitimately trinked
- 3:46status 12 years ago. I was a lot skinnier and I got
- 3:53this sport jacket that's kind of sort of like a cocktail attire
- 3:56type of a thing because I had a wedding to go to, and it wasn't
- 4:00the type of wedding where you would dress up like formal.
- 4:05It was like an outdoor wedding, like waterfront outdoor wedding,
- 4:10and it was like a little more casual.
- 4:12The field was more casual. So I needed something that's
- 4:14more that, that wasn't a suit. Which I still have The suit,
- 4:18actually, which I actually recently wore the suit I have.
- 4:22I think I bought it, I don't know, 15 years ago.
- 4:25It still fits. I wore it recently to something.
- 4:27Oh, to I wore to a wedding recently.
- 4:31Still fits, surprisingly. Anyways, the sport jacket, it
- 4:35doesn't fit me anymore, but it wasn't a super nice one.
- 4:37But it's nice to know where. You know what?
- 4:39I shouldn't just, like, donate it into a random metal box in a
- 4:43corner of the grocery store parking lot.
- 4:46Let's see if I can get some money out of it.
- 4:47And then I have this Coach Messenger bag.
- 4:50I don't know why I have this Coach messenger bag.
- 4:52It's at least 20 years old. Coach is not a highend enough
- 4:56brand that you can take it to the rear wheel or you can Hock
- 5:01it on eBay and have any significant amount of money for
- 5:03it. This thing was maybe like 50-60
- 5:07dollars. Like, I think that's like the
- 5:08value I saw maybe 100 at the very most on eBay, something
- 5:12like that. So these two items actually set
- 5:15a sign. I thought, well there's this
- 5:16consignment store kind of semi near my neighborhood that I walk
- 5:23past all the time. Why don't I just try to do that?
- 5:26I never sold anything at a consignment store before.
- 5:29But my understanding is you just go in, you give them what they
- 5:32have, they tell you whether they're willing to buy the and
- 5:36for how much. And you know, you just, it's a
- 5:38good way to, you know, have some get some money for stuff you're
- 5:41going to get rid of. And then finally, I have a bunch
- 5:46of E Ways electronic items that I can't use anymore.
- 5:51Like, I've got this old electric toothbrush that's like 10 years
- 5:54old and it's just like completely dead.
- 5:56I have a new one now, but that's electronics, Electronics in it.
- 5:59It's like an appliance, basically.
- 6:01It's got batteries and stuff in it.
- 6:02So you need to dispose of it. And like a responsible man, you
- 6:05can't just throw it into the trash.
- 6:08So a bunch of stuff like that, just like old electronics that I
- 6:11kind of keep in this little corporal box in the pack in my
- 6:14closet. So all these little things, all
- 6:16these little errands were piling up and all that.
- 6:19Let's just do this as efficiently as possible.
- 6:23Let's just combine it on to one afternoon.
- 6:27Make the appointment for the passport.
- 6:28I put all of the stuff I want to get rid of into the trunk of the
- 6:32car this morning. First thought was IKEA and IKEA.
- 6:37Uneventful. IKEA was IKEA.
- 6:39I got there at 11/11/30 in the morning and it was so uneventful
- 6:46In a good way because no one usually goes to IKEA.
- 6:49Tuesday morning 11 AM, Who's at IKEA?
- 6:53People who are unemployed, people like me.
- 6:55Hands up right there. So I just needed curtain rods
- 7:01and the fixings, the attachments for the curtain rods and then
- 7:03the curtain curtains themselves. So I got all that.
- 7:10No problem, no hassle, no issues.
- 7:13Uneventful in a good way. I always like it when shopping
- 7:16in the store is uneventful because eventful shopping means
- 7:20just like getting annoying and pissed off.
- 7:22So IKEA was great. So after IKEA I came home a
- 7:27little time because I came home, ate a quick lunch and then I
- 7:30went to the post office that I had the appointment at.
- 7:34And this post office is, I think in Hollywood, technically is in
- 7:41Hollywood not that far. And drove there, got there a
- 7:45little early because I knew I need to have some time to find
- 7:48parking. That whole block where this post
- 7:52office was. It's all like homeless people
- 7:57camping out in tents on the sidewalk basically.
- 8:00And I remember I was circling the block just like the once or
- 8:04twice and at some point the smell of homelessness, like got
- 8:11into my car somehow and it's not a pleasant smell.
- 8:17And to be to have that in the car, it was not like I think
- 8:21that sucked in via the A/C or something.
- 8:22I don't know how it happened. So it was like not the nicest
- 8:27block. I talked about visiting not
- 8:31super nice neighborhoods once before when I was in New York in
- 8:35June for world pride. Whichever podcast episode that
- 8:39was from like the end of June, you can go watch that.
- 8:43And I talked about Street View is a great thing to have in
- 8:47modern day technology because you can go on the Street View
- 8:51and check out in that instance in New York whether your hotel
- 8:55is in a nice neighborhood or a not so nice neighborhood.
- 9:00I didn't do that for a post office because I thought it's
- 9:02just a post office. It's not going to be a risky
- 9:04neighborhood, but it's just like whatever.
- 9:05I'm not staying there for like 5 days.
- 9:07I'm just going there for like 20 minutes.
- 9:10So whatever. It wasn't a huge problem.
- 9:12I found parking and I walked inside the post office and I
- 9:19don't really know how post offices work.
- 9:21But anyways, I walked it and the first thing I saw was this line
- 9:24of like 12 people. So I thought, oh, like I have an
- 9:27appointment, but like, I guess I have to go into the line.
- 9:30But the whole time ahead I was thinking, do I really need to be
- 9:32in the line when I have an appointment?
- 9:33But I saw no signs anywhere. Like I walked and I looked all
- 9:37around like, is there some sort of, like, sign for people with
- 9:43appointments to do certain things?
- 9:44I didn't see anything. So I just like waited in line.
- 9:47And as I was waiting in line, I looked up and the paint was
- 9:52literally falling off of the ceiling.
- 9:54Like there was like this big stretch, like probably like 4
- 9:59feet across of the paint, just like like a little hammock
- 10:03that's hanging down from like the drywall.
- 10:05It's like it's belly is out, if that makes any sense.
- 10:09Like the this, this dark green paint from the wall is peeling
- 10:14off. And then I looked further up
- 10:15right above me. Oh, it's peeling off there too.
- 10:17It's like, why can't the US get it together For places like the
- 10:24post office, for places like the DMV, they are dilapidated.
- 10:30I think it's the accurate term. You know when like, the paint is
- 10:34peeling off of the ceiling in big hue strips that you measure
- 10:38in feet and not inches, it's it can't help the morale of the
- 10:43people that work there. And it's not a welcoming
- 10:45environment. It's like you can't even have
- 10:48paint, like paint. It's not even that expensive,
- 10:51right? And I just think about I grew up
- 10:54in Vancouver in Canada, and the DMV's, for example, The DMV's
- 10:59are not like bad places to be like in the US every time I've
- 11:03gone to a DMV, it's always like 100 people there sitting on
- 11:07chairs, waiting. But when you walk the DMV in the
- 11:09US, most of the floor space that's not behind the counters.
- 11:13It's just like you get 200 chairs for people to wait,
- 11:17because do you have to wait for that long?
- 11:19They put out a ton of chairs for people just to wait.
- 11:21Around in Vancouver, you go to the DMV equivalent and it's
- 11:27actually a nice space. The paint is not peeling off of
- 11:31the ceiling and about to like potentially collapse onto you
- 11:34and cover you like a spider web. So you know a post office,
- 11:39Canada Post. When you go to a post office
- 11:41there, it's it's not like Britsy, but it's like it's it's
- 11:45not like a scary dilapidated place to be, you know?
- 11:49So like why can't the US get it together to have like just basic
- 11:55maintenance of its facilities, You know, like a DMV, like the
- 11:58wait's always so long, it's never a nice building and
- 12:01apparently it's same for the post office.
- 12:03So anyways, also waiting this line thinking like I was in this
- 12:07line for like 15 minutes and then I probably should have
- 12:10asked someone but like then I hear like someone that's like I
- 12:12don't know, 5-5 people back in line behind me ask some random
- 12:17staff that walked by is like, oh where's the password?
- 12:18And then the guy points oh it's at like the it's in this like
- 12:22far corner that has no signs leading to it.
- 12:25So I hear that and I like bolt and like I go over there along
- 12:28this guy behind me now and then when I get to this window, yeah,
- 12:32there's like a little sign that says passport, but there's no
- 12:35signage leading that tells you, oh, you're here for your
- 12:37password. You need to go to like this
- 12:39other wing of the building. So get up there that there's
- 12:43this woman up there already talking, blah, blah.
- 12:45And I was like right behind her. And I noticed on the it's a
- 12:50plexiglass. There's a plexiglass all above
- 12:52the counter. And then on the plexiglass,
- 12:55there's a bunch of printouts, and one of the printout says no
- 12:59photos available, no film. How hard is it to have in?
- 13:06In some ways it's not fair. Like, people run out of
- 13:09consumables all the time. Sometimes your printer runs out
- 13:12of ink, you know? Sometimes they're out of a
- 13:17certain menu item at your coffee shop or your restaurant that you
- 13:21go to all the time. But yeah, apparently they're out
- 13:25of film. And by this time I was like just
- 13:29very, like eye roll in my head. So the moment and I and I didn't
- 13:33have a photo with you. But when you make the
- 13:35appointment online on the USPS website, you can specify, oh you
- 13:40want to set a location that also can take your photo.
- 13:42And I selected that. So my expectation was they're
- 13:46gonna be able to take my fucking photo.
- 13:48I get up there and they can't take my fucking photo.
- 13:50So the only thing I said was like, I just want to confirm
- 13:52this sign's correct. You don't have film and you
- 13:54can't take my photo. And he's like, yes.
- 13:55And I just walked out cuz I was like I was over it by then
- 13:59between like the dodgyness of the area, having like having to
- 14:06be in this like dilapidated building.
- 14:08And then them having no clear signage of like where should be
- 14:11where people should be going to do certain things.
- 14:13Like there's no clear signage for like people should be in the
- 14:15passport, people doing the passports that should be in this
- 14:18like way other side, this other wing literally of the of the
- 14:22building. I could have been waiting in
- 14:23that line here for like 30 minutes or something, just for
- 14:26them to tell me you need to be over there, which is poor
- 14:28organization that doesn't take money or anything.
- 14:30Just have a sign to be like passport go over there.
- 14:33Like they should have that sign near the entrance, you know?
- 14:36So all these little things outside.
- 14:39You know what? I'm over it.
- 14:40I will need to go somewhere else for a passport.
- 14:44I'm not gonna come back to this location again.
- 14:47And when I was also waiting behind the lady that was in
- 14:50front of me at the passport window, there's a whole bunch of
- 14:54signs and stuff they put on the Pesi glass.
- 14:56And then there's this. They're advertising these other
- 14:58locations where they you need to make an appointment for a
- 15:02passport application. You just do a walk in.
- 15:05And then one of the two addresses they were advertising,
- 15:10you know, was for a place that's downtown, but they close at
- 15:123:00. And I was it was over like 130
- 15:13by the time I got up to that window.
- 15:15So it's like, OK, I'm, it took, it seems to be an hour to get to
- 15:18this other downtown main office location, and I don't have an
- 15:22appointment for anything else. So I was like, you know what?
- 15:24I just do this another day. But I sure as hell won't go back
- 15:29to this location, this post office in Hollywood, just
- 15:33because I didn't have a good experience there.
- 15:35So that was that. It was lovely.
- 15:38So the next thing I do, I was like, you know what?
- 15:41I want to do The rest of my chores, the password is not so
- 15:44important. I have a Canadian password and I
- 15:45can still go places. I just also want the US passport
- 15:47eventually, but it's not urgent. So I was going to run the rest
- 15:51of my chores and the next place I was going to go to was Best
- 15:54Buy, because there's not that many places in West Hollywood to
- 15:59do your e-waste or E recycling. So even on the city of West
- 16:03Hollywood's website, they advertise a few like private
- 16:07companies, not that many that would take in your e-waste.
- 16:10So there's one Best Buy in West Hollywood that does take
- 16:14e-waste, and I've done this before.
- 16:15I've taken e-waste to them once before and it wasn't a problem.
- 16:19So drove to the Best Buy. And I've been this location a
- 16:24few times and there's actually parking on like the curb right
- 16:28outside where the Best Buy is. And this isn't this like little
- 16:32mini mall type of a thing. So it's like a small little
- 16:35shopping center, if you will. But I pulled it in front on the
- 16:38street where the Best Buy was and I was going a little slow
- 16:41just to like look for a spot. But you know, like if you're
- 16:44going like 40 miles an hour, it's hard to spot a spot.
- 16:46So I was like going a little slow there, run a ton of cars
- 16:48behind me. So it's like looking and I see a
- 16:50spot and right when I see the spot, I pull over and I pulled
- 16:54over like just right in front of the spot.
- 16:57And then I'm signaling. So I kind of pull over and I was
- 17:01waiting for other cars to kind of pass me.
- 17:02And while I was doing that, there's this guy that pulls him
- 17:06right behind me and like takes the spot and I honk and put put
- 17:12in my car, reverse my reversal lighter on and like this guy
- 17:16like looks up in front at my car and it like does nothing.
- 17:19I see him in the rearview mirror and then I honk and I like wave
- 17:21my arms and stuff and he's like he he clearly see he's looking
- 17:26at my car. He knows I honk, he knows my
- 17:28reverse lights on, but like he's parked in the spot so like the
- 17:31next day he just gets out and just walks away.
- 17:33So like, that pisses me off. Like if someone is signaling and
- 17:37pulled over like on the spot, like like the back of my car was
- 17:41like on the lines, like I was gonna back into that spot.
- 17:44So that pissed me off. So I pull out and that luckily
- 17:47they have an underground parking and there's a ton of spaces
- 17:49there. I just wanted to park on the
- 17:50curb because the Best Buy is like right there on the curves.
- 17:54I just walk in and walk over all this stuff to carry.
- 17:57But that pissed me off as well. So I was like, OK, fine, I just
- 18:02like park underground, whatever, haul, all the stuff they took,
- 18:06everything. There's just like one giant
- 18:07battery that I have that didn't take.
- 18:09But like that part was fine. But by this point I was like, I
- 18:12was like, this is like turning into like a not so great day.
- 18:16So the last thing I had to do was drop by this consignment
- 18:19store, also in West Hollywood to try to sell this messenger bag
- 18:24and this Sport coat that I have. And I've never been in any sort
- 18:28of consignment store before. I don't really know how it
- 18:29works. So I walked in there that this
- 18:32iPad where you, like, checked in if you want to sell something
- 18:36and also shows you who else is in front of you.
- 18:37And there's like 10 names in front of me.
- 18:39And I was like, you know what? I just want to get this done.
- 18:42Like, whatever, let's just do it.
- 18:45So put my name on and I think I probably waited like, I don't
- 18:50know, 30 minutes before they Call My Name.
- 18:53The other people that were there, they look like they go
- 18:55there all the time. There are a lot of people with
- 18:58those IKEA bags, you know, those blue IKEA bags made of like tarp
- 19:05or whatever that material is that sometimes people have.
- 19:08There are multiple people at the selling section of the
- 19:13consignment store with these blue IKEA tarp bags that were
- 19:18like completely filled with, I assume it's clothes.
- 19:21So waited like 30 minutes and I was just like hanging out, not
- 19:25doing anything. They Call My Name and then they
- 19:29like, look at my stuff and then they're like, oh, like this
- 19:33blazer. We're we're not going to take
- 19:36it. But it's like we don't usually
- 19:38really sell those. I'm like, okay, fine, whatever.
- 19:40And then this messenger bag and then she says, yeah, we, we'll,
- 19:43we'll take it. And how it works is we'll give
- 19:46you 50% of the cost of the bag or what we think we can sell it
- 19:52for. We give you 50% in store credit
- 19:55or $30 in cash. And I was thinking I'm not going
- 19:57to shop here again in my head I'm thinking I'll take the cash,
- 20:00but I said okay, so you should price it is $55 and 30% of that
- 20:04is $16.50. So by the time everything was
- 20:08said and done, I spent like an hour, just like 30 something
- 20:14minutes in the store driving there and driving back.
- 20:18I spent an hour for $16.50 and I'm thinking and and I try to be
- 20:25and I haven't had like the best time with like the passport
- 20:28stuff and then like this guy stealing my parking spot and
- 20:31just like obviously didn't care. I've I've I've seen this happen.
- 20:35LA, like LA drivers, I've learned like are just crappy for
- 20:38like stealing other people's parking spots on the street.
- 20:42But but this is like the last tour I was going to run and I
- 20:45was trying a little bit to make sure I didn't look pissed off.
- 20:51I wasn't that pissed off, but I was like, it's very easy for me
- 20:55to just, like show my emotions about saying anything.
- 20:57Like I wear the emotions, my emotions on my sleeve like a
- 21:00lot. But I'm not happy.
- 21:02Everyone around me can tell. Like all my friends can tell
- 21:04even without me saying anything. And that's the keys.
- 21:06Like if I'm if I'm suddenly silent, then I'm pissed off.
- 21:09But anyways, I was like in my head.
- 21:11I was thinking I spent an hour and drove all the way here for
- 21:15$16.50, took some deep breaths and then and then I I I got my
- 21:23$16.00 in cash. By the way, I had to go over to
- 21:26cashier and then they rung me up literally in like in cash money,
- 21:33paper money, cash money and coins 1650.
- 21:38And I was like thank you. And then I very calmly, nicely
- 21:42gently walked out and then I was like talking to myself on the
- 21:46street. I was like I spent an hour for
- 21:49$16.50. It's it's it's more than like
- 21:54the minimum wage these days I guess.
- 21:57But I was thinking, could I have just sold that bag for like
- 22:01$50.00 on eBay, even have to spend like, I don't know, 10 or
- 22:06$15 shipping it but then not have to waste an hour of my
- 22:09life. I was at that level.
- 22:11If any of you guys can relate like it it this is not the end
- 22:16of the world, obviously, but like it it it was rearing on me.
- 22:20The little things have happened throughout the day.
- 22:22On my day of errands. They're running errands.
- 22:25So this is where it went up to a climax.
- 22:28So last week's episode, I told you guys on Santa Monica Blvd.
- 22:32They're like repaving a whole hue stretch of it and that
- 22:35they've repaved it, but they haven't painted any of the lane
- 22:38markings. And I specifically mentioned
- 22:42these two cars that ran red lights right in front of me last
- 22:47week's episode. And I was, and this consignment
- 22:51store is along the stretch of Santa Monica Blvd.
- 22:54In West Hollywood where they still haven't painted the line.
- 22:58So, like, people don't always know where they are, but I'm
- 23:02always thinking that the lines are not there, but the lights
- 23:05are there. So like, you see a red light,
- 23:07you see a green light and you you need to stop.
- 23:09You've been not exactly where to stop, but like, it shouldn't be.
- 23:13You should be slowing down. If you're coming to red light
- 23:16and you don't know where the stop line is but it's not
- 23:18painted, you should at least not be caught off guard that you
- 23:21need to stop because there's a red light in front of you.
- 23:23You might be a little confused where are you gonna stop?
- 23:26So it only makes sense. Like you should probably be
- 23:28extra cautious where you stop stop a little shorter than you
- 23:31where you think you might need to be, but like, you know, don't
- 23:33whatever. But I needed to cross to get to
- 23:37the car after this consignment store that I went to and I was
- 23:41waiting and then the light turns red and like this one car on the
- 23:46curb stops and then I start crossing and then this other car
- 23:51comes in and she's, I think she saw the red light but she
- 23:56breaked a little late like she it wasn't like she saw the red
- 24:00light fully and was slowing down.
- 24:03It was like, I don't know if she saw the red light or not.
- 24:06She wasn't going super fast, but the car and the curb coming from
- 24:10my left on the curbside lane stopped normal.
- 24:14This like Honda CRV that she was driving in the next night over
- 24:17that I wasn't sure where she saw the red light like barrels over
- 24:23to where the crosswalk is. I wasn't close to it, so I
- 24:26wasn't in any danger. I saw it coming.
- 24:27I always looked both ways now when I crossed that road because
- 24:31the cars don't know when to stop, but with the emotional
- 24:35state that I was in, I don't know.
- 24:37I mentioned this last time, every time a car runs a red
- 24:39light in front of me, I get the urge to yell at them.
- 24:43Like you are running a red light bitch And and this is what
- 24:49happened. So this car like it, it kind of
- 24:53looks like she didn't run it. But anyways like she stopped
- 24:56like on top of where the sidewalk would be because I've
- 24:58been to the area before and I know where it is.
- 25:00But like she clearly didn't know where to stop and it was like
- 25:02there's a red light right there. Honestly, like, I know that
- 25:04intersection. I know there's a red light right
- 25:06there. So she's like stopping finally
- 25:10and I'm and basically I have to like walk around her, the front
- 25:13of her car. But she stops so late.
- 25:15And I and I and I said I don't remember exactly what I said,
- 25:18but I yelled at her basically I was like, hey, there's a red
- 25:22light, use your eyes look something like that.
- 25:25The first thing I said was like, it's a red light, something like
- 25:28that. And I point at the light, the
- 25:30red light above, that's like right there that's red.
- 25:33And the second thing I said was like look with your eyes or
- 25:36something like like use your eyes and look.
- 25:38So I literally yelled at this car and it's like you cannot run
- 25:43red lights. Especially when peditions are
- 25:45going to cross. You need to look for red lights
- 25:47and stop. If you don't know where to stop
- 25:49you need to slow down issue and be cautious.
- 25:51Stop short. Don't like, just tiptoe into the
- 25:54intersection. Is that like, crazy to like use
- 25:57that level of common sense. If you are approaching a red
- 25:59light and you don't see like, the stop line, stop short of the
- 26:03instance stop. It's just short.
- 26:04Don't roll into the intersection.
- 26:06This was you don't know where the stop line is.
- 26:08People are so stupid. I don't get it.
- 26:10So I said those two things or two, those effects of the two
- 26:13things. And as I was finishing crossing
- 26:16the street, I was like, I was just on a rolls.
- 26:19I also just let out loudly like why don't you just run over me
- 26:22and, like, there were people around, but I just like, didn't
- 26:24care. It's like there's a red light,
- 26:27use your eyes and look and like, don't Burrow into the
- 26:29intersection. So I was worked out.
- 26:32So that was my adventurous day of running errands.
- 26:39It's one of the reasons I like staying home so much.
- 26:41And I'm so glad we have the Internet because so many things
- 26:45can be done online now. And the things I did today were
- 26:49things that you couldn't do online.
- 26:52I couldn't order curtains and stuff online.
- 26:54But I thought I should kind of like going to IKEA to, like,
- 26:57browse and look at stuff. Sometimes that doesn't bother me
- 27:00to go to IKEA usually. And for the curtains that I
- 27:04wanted to get, you know, they're like tech Staffs, They're
- 27:07fabrics. And I want to check out the
- 27:08different ones in person to see which ones I may or may not
- 27:11like. I want to, like, touch and feel
- 27:13and see them in person, you know?
- 27:14So that's why I went to IKEA. Yeah.
- 27:16But I'm not even sorry for yelling in that car is like.
- 27:19I think if I was in like a nicer mood I wouldn't have.
- 27:22But every time a car runs a red light in front of me or don't
- 27:25see a red light until it's too late in front of me, I'm always
- 27:28thinking people like you cause accidents.
- 27:31Like people is people like you that run into pedestrians when
- 27:34you don't see a red light. Unfortunately I've seen way too
- 27:38many people run red lights. Just actually just earlier this
- 27:42week near near around that area I was walking to the gym.
- 27:47I was I was walking by for some reason for something and from a
- 27:53distance I saw a fire truck coming and then apparently two
- 27:59cars had had a T-bone accident at the intersection.
- 28:04And just by looking at where the cars were parked after, I was
- 28:06like, I can guarantee you one of those cars ran the red light and
- 28:10T boned the other one. And I one time this was
- 28:14fifteenish years ago, maybe a little bit more back in
- 28:18Vancouver, and I was driving my mom and were stopped at a light.
- 28:21And then I literally watched this Mini Cooper run a red
- 28:25light. Like the Mini Cooper literally
- 28:27did not see the red light. But there's no breaking at all.
- 28:30And just T boned this minivan that had like a family and like
- 28:34a baby. And I can still hear that baby
- 28:36crying out of that car because what happened was the Mini ran
- 28:40the red light, did not see the red light at all.
- 28:43The minivan had a green light. I was going through it.
- 28:47The Mini T bones this minivan and basically shoved this
- 28:51minivan to have a head on collision with a light pole.
- 28:56Like, it's horrific to watch. Like there's this family and a
- 29:00baby in a minivan gets T-bone and then crashes into like a
- 29:04light pole, like a solid steel light pole.
- 29:06It's like, that's horrific. I was like 15 or 16 years ago
- 29:10and I was stopped at the light right at the front.
- 29:12So, like, I got like the front row seat to that accident.
- 29:16Yeah. So it's pretty crazy sometimes
- 29:18it's it's I'm very defensive. When I drive, I'm always
- 29:22thinking like the car behind me, does he see me break like the
- 29:26the car beside me? Like, does he know I'm about to
- 29:28pass him? Like, I don't expect people to
- 29:30check their blind spots. I don't expect you to pay
- 29:32attention to anything. So people are always on their
- 29:35phones. Yeah.
- 29:38So I'm always very, very, like, I just assume everyone on the
- 29:42road doesn't know how to drive. And I honk a lot, actually.
- 29:46I honked like three times today. Honked like three times today
- 29:49because of all the driving I was doing.
- 29:52So yeah, there's a car that pulled in front of me, pulled in
- 29:55front of me, turn in right, turn onto the street right in front
- 29:59of me. And I was going like 10 miles an
- 30:01hour after he they pulled out. Like, you can't do that.
- 30:03So anyways, I'm not going to join on and on about driving
- 30:08because that's a whole other can of worms and we don't have time
- 30:11for that on today's podcast anymore.
- 30:15For those of you watching the video version of this podcast
- 30:18again available on Spotify and also on my YouTube channel, just
- 30:21Joey T you know, I'm actually dressed up as I dressed up to go
- 30:24do the errands and I got a haircut.
- 30:27I had long hair for a long time and I cut it to be pretty short.
- 30:33It's only like, I don't know, and a couple inches long now on
- 30:37top. Yeah, and actually, you know,
- 30:39wanted to look presentable for this password photo, which
- 30:42didn't happen today. Yeah.
- 30:45Then the other thing I was that it wasn't on my list to do
- 30:48today, but it's something I'll need to get used to doing.
- 30:52But the new car is an electric car, so that means I have to
- 30:54charge it. I find a charger for it every so
- 30:57often. So I see drove by one of the
- 31:00charging spots on my way to IKEA at the Walmart that was nearby
- 31:04and apparently is a very popular one because I wasn't going to go
- 31:08charge, but I just wanted to like, scope it out because it's
- 31:11one of like the main isn't, it's a it's one of the spaces with 10
- 31:17different chargers. So there's a lot of capacity
- 31:19there and they're fast chargers to get charge our electric car
- 31:21really quickly. There aren't that many near my
- 31:24house. And I was like, oh, OK, I'm
- 31:25going up to Burbank the IKEA and Burbank the the Walmart with all
- 31:29these like, fast chargers is only like a mile away from the
- 31:33IKEA. So it's like, why don't I swing
- 31:35by just to see what it's like so I can get like the lay of the
- 31:38land when I if I ever need to come back here.
- 31:41And I've heard stories that there were a long lineups for
- 31:45the charges at this Walmart in Burbank and it turns out to be
- 31:48true. They're a line of at least like
- 31:5010 cars. I couldn't see the front of the
- 31:53queue, but I saw it. I was like, I noticed all these
- 31:56cars were electric cars. Because I can.
- 31:57I'm into cars like, I can like look at the car and know exactly
- 32:00what making model is right away. And I was like, oh, okay.
- 32:04So 11:00 AM on a Tuesday, It's busy.
- 32:08I've heard that on weekends is very, very busy.
- 32:10Right. Some people who are usually in
- 32:12the office at work on a during the day on a weekday.
- 32:14I thought, well, those people won't be here.
- 32:17But, I mean, everyone else is. So yeah, I can't charge in my
- 32:21apartment because we don't have that in our apartment.
- 32:24Yeah, but that's interesting. Oh my God.
- 32:27Imagine I get into a fight or get pissed off at one of these
- 32:29charging stations. I really don't want that to
- 32:31happen. But anyways, this coming weekend
- 32:36I'm going to go to Vancouver again to visit some family.
- 32:39So maybe I have some Vancouver stories for you and I come back
- 32:43and I'm also excited, excited ish to go to a Taipei for pride.
- 32:47It's a little bit of anxiety mixed in with the excitement
- 32:52because it always makes me a little nervous when I don't know
- 32:57what the language there. I know Cantonese because I'm
- 33:00from Hong Kong, but Cantonese is not Mandarin, just with they're
- 33:05both Chinese is not the same language.
- 33:07They're like effectively different verbal languages.
- 33:13On paper they are similar. Ish can be the same, but verbal
- 33:20Mandarin and verbal Cantonese is not the same.
- 33:24So. But I know some people that are
- 33:26going, so that would make it a little bit more fun to hang out
- 33:31with some friends there. Yeah.
- 33:33So that's another trip to look forward to at the end of this
- 33:36month. But otherwise, hope you
- 33:39subscribe to the podcast. Let's see how angry or not angry
- 33:44I get for these podcast. I don't know where I'm going to
- 33:46go get this passport thing done, but I'm not going to go to any
- 33:52post office. It's it.
- 33:54Yeah, I did. There's some probably libraries
- 33:56in City Hall places I think go to one of those.
- 33:58But I will report back next time, but until then, bye.
