- 0:00Welcome to Digital Pulse, the podcast tracking
- 0:02the innovations that redefine our daily lives.
- 0:05Karim, let's talk about a process that's usually
- 0:08a... A real test of patience. Getting a security
- 0:12deposit back. Oh, it's a classic waiting game,
- 0:16isn't it? Yeah. You move out, close your account.
- 0:19Yep. And then you just wait for days for the
- 0:22refund. Well, in Dubai, that game has just changed
- 0:26dramatically. It certainly has. The Dubai Electricity
- 0:30and Water Authority, DIWA, has rolled out a new
- 0:33automated system that is a genuine game changer.
- 0:36Wow. Emphatic. For deposit refunds up to AED
- 0:394 ,000, what used to take around four days, now
- 0:43takes just 30 minutes. And that 4 ,000 dirham
- 0:46cap is key. Right. Because it covers a staggering
- 0:5090 % of all refund requests. The system uses
- 0:54a secure verification process. It sends the refund
- 0:57instruction directly to the customer's bank using
- 1:00their IBAN. Okay. It's fast, it's accurate, and
- 1:05it completely removes the need for any manual
- 1:07processing. This initiative is just such a prime
- 1:10example of Dubai's wider digital strategy. Totally.
- 1:13His Excellency Saeed Mohamed El -Tayr, the MD
- 1:17and CEO of Diwa, he framed it perfectly. He said,
- 1:21In line with the vision and directives of the
- 1:23wise leadership to digitize all aspects of life
- 1:26in Dubai and transform the Emirate into a global
- 1:29digital capital, positioning it among the world's
- 1:32best cities in terms of quality of life. We continue
- 1:35to adopt the latest fourth industrial revolution
- 1:38technologies and integrate artificial intelligence
- 1:41across all our operations. This initiative to
- 1:45reduce the security deposit refund time to 30
- 1:47minutes is part of our continuous efforts to
- 1:50provide a pioneering. fully digital customer
- 1:52experience that enhances happiness, meets expectations,
- 1:56and exceeds them. It also supports the Dubai
- 1:59Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to strengthen
- 2:03Dubai's position among the world's leading digital
- 2:06economies. That quote really underscores the
- 2:09ambition, doesn't it? Yeah. This isn't just about
- 2:12one process. It's about building a whole world
- 2:15-class digital economy. And think about the ripple
- 2:18effects, Karim. Okay. Emphatic. Operational efficiency
- 2:21skyrockets. Diwa staff are now freed from all
- 2:24that repetitive admin work and they can focus
- 2:26on, you know, service innovation. And the system's
- 2:29agility is just remarkable. Yeah. It operates
- 2:33around the clock, totally independent of business
- 2:35hours. Impressive. This just reinforces Diwa's
- 2:38reputation as a leader in smart, customer -centric
- 2:42services. It's a... quiet, but really profound
- 2:46revolution in public service. Musing. It makes
- 2:49you wonder what other everyday administrative
- 2:52hurdles are on the verge of just being eliminated
- 2:55by this kind of technology. Now, here's a question
- 2:59we'd like you to think about. Okay. As automation
- 3:01handles more of these essential, but, you know,
- 3:04routine tasks, what new standard of service should
- 3:09we begin to expect from both public and private
- 3:12institutions?
