Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Sarah’s Day’s Insensitive Clap-back, Kyree Harvey Soft Launches New Puppy & Sammy Robinson's New Man
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, Sarah's days
- 0:12Speaker 1: in sensitive clapback at women struggling with fertility. Kyrie Harvey
- 0:17Speaker 1: soft launches a new puppy just weeks after revealing she
- 0:20Speaker 1: rehomed her dog. And Olivia Mather's desperate plea to find
- 0:24Speaker 1: her stolen cat. But first, Sammy Robinson has soft launched
- 0:28Speaker 1: her new man during a Mexican mukbang. Now, this mukbang
- 0:32Speaker 1: took place in her new guy's car, but Sammy cleverly
- 0:35Speaker 1: angled the camera so it was only her in the shot.
- 0:39Speaker 1: We did get to see his arm and also a
- 0:41Speaker 1: very fleeting shot of the top of his head. We
- 0:44Speaker 1: also did briefly get to hear his voice and see
- 0:47Speaker 1: them interact as a couple. And it is clear that
- 0:49Speaker 1: they're pretty comfortable with each other because they were dressed
- 0:52Speaker 1: in matching grey tracksuit tops. And Sammy was literally hoeing
- 0:56Speaker 1: into a large burrito. At one stage, she had sauce
- 1:00Speaker 1: dripping from her mouth. And they also shared the burrito
- 1:03Speaker 1: back and forth. So this seems like it's been in
- 1:06Speaker 1: the works for quite some time. There is a level
- 1:08Speaker 1: of comfort that you have when it's a boyfriend and
- 1:11Speaker 1: not just someone you're seeing. That's very intimate to share
- 1:13Speaker 1: a burrito. As much as I love my husband, I
- 1:16Speaker 1: don't think I'd share one with him. I think it
- 1:17Speaker 1: shows how early on they are in this relationship because
- 1:20Speaker 1: once you've been going out with someone for a few years,
- 1:22Speaker 1: you're definitely having separate burritos and you're not sharing. Yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 2: You're like, those are my chips.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Don't touch them. There's that sort of thing going on. Well,
- 1:29Speaker 1: this video has attracted over 81,000 views with her fans
- 1:33Speaker 1: wanting to know more about the mystery man. One follower wrote,
- 1:37Speaker 1: who is this man, sis? Whilst another said, don't hide
- 1:40Speaker 1: the man, girly.
- 1:41Speaker 2: We want to know.
- 1:42Speaker 1: And another said, she's a relationship girly, which I have
- 1:45Speaker 1: to agree with. I mean, if you're Sammy Robinson, I'm
- 1:48Speaker 1: sure it's not hard to get into a relationship. She's
- 1:51Speaker 1: absolutely stunning. I'm sure there is a line of guys
- 1:53Speaker 1: waiting outside her door wanting to ask her on a date.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Soft launches are really changing since TikTok because previously it
- 2:00Speaker 1: was really a soft launch. It was maybe a guy's
- 2:03Speaker 1: arm on a table in a photo of you at
- 2:05Speaker 1: a cafe.
- 2:07Speaker 2: However, this guy is fully in the video. He's talking.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yes, you can't actually see his face, but this is
- 2:12Speaker 1: a clear message from Sammy. I am in a relationship
- 2:15Speaker 1: because you're not putting this type of content out with
- 2:18Speaker 1: just anyone. I do love that when someone soft launches
- 2:21Speaker 1: a relationship, how quickly you can turn into an FBI
- 2:25Speaker 1: agent and analyze someone's content to just try and find
- 2:28Speaker 1: anything out about who this person is. I have probably
- 2:31Speaker 1: watched this video a little too closely because I have
- 2:35Speaker 1: ascertained that this guy's name potentially starts with a W.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So in the video, his hands are shown on the
- 2:42Speaker 1: wheel of the car as he goes through the drive-thru
- 2:44Speaker 1: and he is wearing a friendship bracelet. With the letters
- 2:48Speaker 1: S and W on it. So I'm assuming that this
- 2:51Speaker 1: is a very cute couple bracelet and the S is
- 2:53Speaker 1: for Sammy and potentially the W is for his name.
- 2:57Speaker 1: She clearly likes cute coupley things like that because last
- 3:00Speaker 1: time she hard launched her relationship, she shared that they
- 3:02Speaker 1: had a special personalized key ring made and it was
- 3:05Speaker 1: a photo of them kissing on it. Yeah. That's clearly
- 3:08Speaker 1: been burned by now. I mean, I think she'll probably
- 3:10Speaker 1: drop a few more clues like that on her Instagram story.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I did go and search Sammy Robinson's friend list for
- 3:16Speaker 1: any guy's name, starting with a W. And I have
- 3:19Speaker 1: spied one guy called Will. I won't be saying his
- 3:22Speaker 1: last name because it could be incorrect, but I have
- 3:25Speaker 1: an inkling. I think the top of his head looks
- 3:27Speaker 1: the same as what we saw in the TikTok video.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And are we assuming that Sammy made the bracelet for him?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Oh, I reckon that would be very cute.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Acknowledging that 99.9% of you are not these crazy people,
- 3:39Speaker 3: these crazy obsessed people that actually make me feel uncomfortable.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I'm like, whoa, get a hoppy.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Sarah's Day has issued an insensitive clap back at her
- 3:48Speaker 1: followers struggling with fertility. After announcing her third pregnancy last week,
- 3:52Speaker 1: Sarah says she was inundated with messages accusing her of
- 3:56Speaker 1: baiting a fertility battle. In a four-minute rant on her
- 3:59Speaker 1: Instagram story, she labeled these women as obsessed and fixated
- 4:03Speaker 1: on her, even telling them to get a hobby that
- 4:06Speaker 1: didn't revolve around her.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Kate, can you tell us more?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Well, Sarah took to her Instagram story on Monday to
- 4:13Speaker 1: address the backlash around her pregnancy announcement. And she said
- 4:16Speaker 1: that she needed to shut it down quickly because it
- 4:19Speaker 1: was annoying and made her feel uncomfortable. She then said this.
- 4:22Speaker 5: For the past few days, I've received so many DMs, emails, comments,
- 4:28Speaker 5: Like there's two separate people. There's like frustrated people and
- 4:32Speaker 5: then people who I don't know where they're getting this
- 4:34Speaker 5: narrative from. Anyway, I just replied to a bunch of
- 4:37Speaker 5: DMs and I'm like, I'm just going to nip this
- 4:38Speaker 5: in the bud now because people are like, I'm so
- 4:41Speaker 5: triggered that you created content and vlogs saying you're not
- 4:44Speaker 5: pregnant when you were.
- 4:46Speaker 1: The content Sarah is referring to is a vlog that
- 4:49Speaker 1: she uploaded on the 8th of February entitled Life Catch Up,
- 4:53Speaker 1: Being Vulnerable Again and Updating You on Life. Now it
- 4:56Speaker 1: was the last video in a short YouTube series she
- 4:59Speaker 1: shared about her conception journey and in the vlog she
- 5:02Speaker 1: explained that she was in her fourth month of trying
- 5:04Speaker 1: to conceive. This is what she said.
- 5:07Speaker 2: As you know, we have.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Been really casual in trying to conceive. However, it's our
- 5:11Speaker 5: fourth month now trying, which for some people is nothing.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Like I know people have tried for years.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Again, I talk about that and reference that in my
- 5:20Speaker 5: previous vlog.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So just stay with me.
- 5:22Speaker 5: But for us, because we conceived Malachi on the first try,
- 5:25Speaker 5: from going from like first try baby to the fourth month,
- 5:29Speaker 5: it's something we've never experienced before. Feels nice to like
- 5:33Speaker 5: bring you along on this journey and just feel really
- 5:35Speaker 5: open and vulnerable about what we're going through at the moment.
- 5:37Speaker 5: So it's fine. And like, I'm not stressed about it,
- 5:40Speaker 5: but I don't know, like when you decide you want
- 5:42Speaker 5: to have another baby, it's like hard for it not
- 5:45Speaker 5: to consume your.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Thoughts, you know. Sarah then went on to say that
- 5:49Speaker 1: she knew it was a sensitive topic and she tried
- 5:51Speaker 1: to tread carefully so she didn't upset anyone or was insensitive. Now,
- 5:55Speaker 1: later on in the vlog, she discussed how she and
- 5:58Speaker 1: her friends are in this season of trying to fall pregnant.
- 6:01Speaker 1: and are consumed with it. She then said this.
- 6:04Speaker 5: I don't want this to be a stressful experience for
- 6:08Speaker 5: us because I have no reason to think like that
- 6:11Speaker 5: at the moment, you know? Like, who knows how long
- 6:12Speaker 5: it took us to conceive Fox because he was a
- 6:15Speaker 5: love baby. But Malachi, we got him on the first try.
- 6:17Speaker 5: So I'm like, I don't want to overthink it. Like,
- 6:19Speaker 5: it's all in God's plan. I truly believe that. I've
- 6:21Speaker 5: really been praying that God has his hand on this pregnancy.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Anyway, I'm just rambling now and just.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Chatting to you like I would my sister. I just
- 6:29Speaker 5: want to be more vulnerable with you guys, I guess,
- 6:32Speaker 5: and really take you along on what I'm going through
- 6:35Speaker 5: week by week.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So back to Sarah's clapback. She addressed this vlog specifically
- 6:40Speaker 1: and explained that she actually did fall pregnant that cycle.
- 6:43Speaker 1: She said when she filmed the vlog, though, that she
- 6:45Speaker 1: was in the wait period and got her ovulation wrong,
- 6:48Speaker 1: so thought she wouldn't fall pregnant. She then went on
- 6:50Speaker 1: to say this.
- 6:52Speaker 5: So we actually end up, I got a positive pregnancy
- 6:54Speaker 5: test at like the end of Feb or something like
- 6:56Speaker 5: in Feb. So this was actually filmed in January. This
- 6:59Speaker 5: vlog is filmed at the end of Jan and it
- 7:02Speaker 5: goes up on the 8th of Feb.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Now the timing has confused many followers, particularly because she
- 7:07Speaker 1: uploaded the vlog as a life update, but then has
- 7:10Speaker 1: come out and said that the content was pre-recorded. Now
- 7:13Speaker 1: back to Sarah's Instagram stories. She also addressed allegations that
- 7:16Speaker 1: she claimed she was struggling to get pregnant saying this.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Lastly, while we're on this topic, I got this random
- 7:24Speaker 5: DM yesterday saying, I'm really disheartened that you claim to
- 7:28Speaker 5: struggle to get pregnant this time. We've never claimed to...
- 7:32Speaker 5: We didn't struggle to get pregnant. We got pregnant on
- 7:34Speaker 5: the fourth try, which we feel so grateful about. The
- 7:36Speaker 5: only time I've ever used the word struggle is in
- 7:40Speaker 5: relation to some close family members and close friends of
- 7:43Speaker 5: mine who are struggling and have struggled to get pregnant.
- 7:47Speaker 5: So I mentioned that in a vlog that I... wanna
- 7:50Speaker 5: be as open, well I wanted to be as open
- 7:52Speaker 5: as I could during our trying to conceive journey, but
- 7:55Speaker 5: while being respectful because now that I am really close
- 7:59Speaker 5: with people who are on that journey, I'm just so
- 8:01Speaker 5: much more sensitive that like, we are in such a great, well,
- 8:05Speaker 5: we're in such a blessed position to be able to
- 8:07Speaker 5: fall pregnant naturally. But yeah, we've never struggled to fall
- 8:10Speaker 5: pregnant with this baby, like it took us four times,
- 8:12Speaker 5: but yeah, the only time I've used the word struggle
- 8:15Speaker 5: is in relation to some of my friends and family
- 8:17Speaker 5: who have struggled.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Just wrapping, nipping that in.
- 8:21Speaker 5: The bud now because it's like making me angry.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Guys, relax.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Everybody just relax.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Now, I was pretty taken aback by that because Sarah's
- 8:32Speaker 1: YouTube channel back in 2016 and 17 revolved around her
- 8:36Speaker 1: bid to balance her hormones, her PCOS diagnosis, and trying
- 8:40Speaker 1: to get her period back. So for those who aren't
- 8:43Speaker 1: familiar with PCOS, it stands for polycystic ovary syndrome and
- 8:47Speaker 1: And it's a complex hormonal condition that affects about one
- 8:49Speaker 1: in 10 women. And there are a range of symptoms
- 8:52Speaker 1: associated with PCOS, including irregular menstrual cycles, acne, and reduced fertility.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And I think what is most interesting about that is
- 9:00Speaker 1: that Sarah really attracted a large audience by being vulnerable
- 9:04Speaker 1: and sharing about her journey with PCOS, which included giving
- 9:08Speaker 1: a ton of holistic tips to resolve symptoms. And so
- 9:11Speaker 1: she still has that loyal audience of women who were
- 9:15Speaker 1: also struggling with their fertility and have gone on this
- 9:18Speaker 1: journey with her. So that is why there are so
- 9:20Speaker 1: many people up in arms over this. And at that time,
- 9:23Speaker 1: she shared with her audience that it would be hard
- 9:25Speaker 1: for her to conceive. And when the time came to
- 9:28Speaker 1: have children, it was likely she would have to go
- 9:30Speaker 1: down the IVF path. So it's likely a lot of
- 9:32Speaker 1: her followers from that time struggled with the same issues
- 9:36Speaker 1: as her. Yeah, I do find it wild. She would
- 9:38Speaker 1: make such a claim when her YouTube channel literally holds
- 9:42Speaker 1: all of the receipts. So just five months ago during
- 9:45Speaker 1: a vlog about her latest conception journey, she said this.
- 9:48Speaker 5: If you've been here since like 2018, 2019, you may
- 9:52Speaker 5: know that Fox was a love baby.
- 9:53Speaker 3: First of all, I got told by a gynecologist and
- 9:56Speaker 3: multiple doctors that I would probably never fall pregnant naturally.
- 9:59Speaker 5: And even IVF for me wouldn't be a sure thing
- 10:02Speaker 5: because I had polycystic ovarian syndrome.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I was pretty affected by that.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Obviously thinking that I would never conceive naturally, maybe never
- 10:09Speaker 3: have kids.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Like I had no idea. And then when Sarah announced
- 10:12Speaker 1: her second pregnancy in 2021, she said this.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Although I had been pregnant three years earlier, Our son
- 10:20Speaker 5: Fox was a complete surprise as I had been told
- 10:23Speaker 5: by our doctors that due to my hormonal imbalances and PCOS,
- 10:27Speaker 5: that falling pregnant naturally was highly unlikely.
- 10:30Speaker 2: So with this being the last fertility related news I.
- 10:32Speaker 5: Had been given, I tried not to get my hopes
- 10:35Speaker 5: up too much and just be prepared that it may
- 10:37Speaker 5: take us a while to conceive again.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And even when she announced her most recent pregnancy, she
- 10:43Speaker 1: tried to set this tone that the journey wasn't easy
- 10:46Speaker 1: for her. Let's throw to what she said. I don't
- 10:50Speaker 1: think there's a line, but the fact that I'm filming.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Means that like every other month I have subconscious hope,
- 10:59Speaker 5: hope deep down that maybe, maybe this is a month
- 11:03Speaker 5: that I get a.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Positive pregnancy test.
- 11:07Speaker 1: If things couldn't get worse, Sarah then took aim at
- 11:09Speaker 1: the women who were triggered by her content. She labeled
- 11:13Speaker 1: the women as obsessive.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Let's throw to what she said.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Also, acknowledging that 99.9% of you are not these crazy people,
- 11:21Speaker 3: these crazy obsessed people that actually.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Make me feel uncomfortable. I'm like, well, get a hobby.
- 11:26Speaker 6: Get a hobby. Make your hobby not me. And anyway, yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 6: obviously I know this is not majority of you. It's
- 11:34Speaker 6: like the smallest group of people, but we know the.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Smallest voices in the room make the loudest noise. If
- 11:40Speaker 5: my children are anything to.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Go by, the smallest voices in the room make the
- 11:45Speaker 3: loudest noise.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So for some.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Context, this outburst was off the back of a comment
- 11:50Speaker 1: Sarah received on a recent Instagram reel. So the follower
- 11:54Speaker 1: was upset that Sarah said she was struggling to conceive
- 11:57Speaker 1: after three months and said it was tone deaf to
- 12:00Speaker 1: women like her who were actually struggling with fertility. The
- 12:03Speaker 1: woman wrote, and the audacity to put struggling while already
- 12:07Speaker 1: being pregnant when posting that. The woman went on to
- 12:10Speaker 1: say she was a longtime fan who had watched Sarah's
- 12:12Speaker 1: videos from day dot. Now, Sarah hit back saying she
- 12:16Speaker 1: never once said they were struggling to conceive and confirmed
- 12:19Speaker 1: they got pregnant the fourth month of trying. She went
- 12:22Speaker 1: on to explain that she had mixed up her ovulation
- 12:25Speaker 1: date in the vlog but confirmed she did end up
- 12:27Speaker 1: conceiving that month. Sarah finished up by writing, It is
- 12:31Speaker 1: clear the timeline of Sarah's posting has confused a lot
- 12:33Speaker 1: of people as a follower responded, The videos say they
- 12:43Speaker 1: were posted two months ago, which would be March, and
- 12:46Speaker 1: touched on struggling with TTC, whether that has been emotionally
- 12:50Speaker 1: or physically. And the comment section is full of women
- 12:52Speaker 1: with infertility. So I felt uncomfortable that we all felt
- 12:56Speaker 1: we related to and felt sorry for something that was
- 12:58Speaker 1: actually fine behind the scenes. Perhaps YouTube is displaying the
- 13:02Speaker 1: posting timeframe wrong. Happy to send a screenshot of it
- 13:05Speaker 1: if you need it. Genuinely not trying to spread misinformation,
- 13:08Speaker 1: just found it upsetting the way it unfolded with no
- 13:11Speaker 1: trigger warnings.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Et cetera, for such a huge topic.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Now, Sarah responded, respectfully, Hannah, if you're clearly as fixated
- 13:17Speaker 1: and obsessed with this as you appear to be, check
- 13:20Speaker 1: the date of the vlog and maybe get a hobby
- 13:22Speaker 1: that allows you not to have the mental time for
- 13:25Speaker 1: fixations and false narratives like this. Not once did I
- 13:28Speaker 1: say we struggled. We got pregnant on our fourth month
- 13:31Speaker 1: of trying and are so grateful. I was open about
- 13:33Speaker 1: feeling hopeful certain months after having pregnancy symptoms, but my
- 13:37Speaker 1: tests were negative. It's okay for me to be disappointed
- 13:40Speaker 1: with negative tests. However, not once did I say we
- 13:42Speaker 1: were struggling to conceive because we didn't. I cannot believe
- 13:47Speaker 1: that Sarah would label a woman who has struggled with
- 13:50Speaker 1: fertility as fixated and obsessed. The lack of empathy is
- 13:54Speaker 1: truly disturbing. particularly when Sarah shared so openly how consuming
- 13:59Speaker 1: her own pregnancy journey was. You think that she would
- 14:03Speaker 1: relate to this woman in a sense? I really felt
- 14:05Speaker 1: for this woman because she outlined to Sarah that she's
- 14:08Speaker 1: been a longtime fan of her. She's been following her
- 14:10Speaker 1: journey for about 10 years and she was pretty considered
- 14:14Speaker 1: in what she wrote to Sarah. I think she was
- 14:16Speaker 1: trying to explain to her why she her community of
- 14:19Speaker 1: followers is hurting so much by her announcement. I'd hate
- 14:22Speaker 1: to see what she'd actually write to someone who is
- 14:24Speaker 1: considered a troll. Well, I saw a lot of people
- 14:26Speaker 1: alleging that Sarah has been sending out a lot of
- 14:29Speaker 1: very rude DMs and that the tone is even worse
- 14:32Speaker 1: than this one that she publicly left to this woman. Well,
- 14:34Speaker 1: this comment did end up getting deleted. But what really
- 14:37Speaker 1: blows my mind about this whole thing is that instead
- 14:40Speaker 1: of taking the feedback on board from her followers and
- 14:43Speaker 1: women who were struggling with their fertility and she's instead
- 14:47Speaker 1: decided to attack them publicly. Like, I don't understand.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Why didn't she.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Acknowledge these women's feelings and just apologize? It just shows
- 14:54Speaker 1: all her disclaimers that she added in about not wanting
- 14:57Speaker 1: to upset anyone and being sensitive were just virtue signaling
- 15:01Speaker 1: because it's quite clear by her reaction that she doesn't
- 15:04Speaker 1: care who she upsets. I just don't understand because if
- 15:07Speaker 1: she had jumped on her Instagram stories and just said,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I am so sorry if I offended anyone, that was
- 15:14Speaker 1: not my intention at all. I feel so much for
- 15:17Speaker 1: women out there who are struggling. I have been there
- 15:20Speaker 1: in a situation where I thought I may have difficulty.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Conceiving, but I've been so lucky.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I think a lot of people would have been like,
- 15:27Speaker 1: fair enough. Well, particularly because she opened up about the
- 15:29Speaker 1: fact that her sister and also friends were struggling with fertility.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I wonder how they feel after seeing that outburst on Instagram.
- 15:37Speaker 1: She's kind of acting like a stroppy teenager. Like it's
- 15:41Speaker 1: as if she doesn't realize she has a huge following
- 15:44Speaker 1: and a massive brand. And The followers are actually the
- 15:47Speaker 1: people who are giving her this amazing life. Like obviously
- 15:50Speaker 1: she's worked hard to put this content out there, but
- 15:52Speaker 1: her followers who have paid for her courses and have
- 15:56Speaker 1: paid for her clothes, they are allowing her to have
- 15:59Speaker 1: this amazing lifestyle. And all she's doing is constantly attacking
- 16:02Speaker 1: them and saying, you're obsessed with me.
- 16:04Speaker 2: But you put out a vlog every week. You're on
- 16:06Speaker 2: your stories every week. You want people to buy into
- 16:08Speaker 2: your life. She's also not.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Understanding the power of social relationship that people have developed
- 16:14Speaker 1: with her over 10 years. So for a follower who,
- 16:17Speaker 1: as you said, Amy, feels like they've supported her and
- 16:19Speaker 1: bought into her life, for them to receive a rude
- 16:22Speaker 1: DM or a rude public message would actually be very
- 16:26Speaker 1: crushing because they feel like Sarah is their friend and
- 16:30Speaker 1: they're just bringing up with their friend, hey, I don't
- 16:32Speaker 1: think you've handled this right.
- 16:33Speaker 2: And she wasn't even rude.
- 16:34Speaker 1: That follower was not rude at all. The whole friend thing,
- 16:38Speaker 1: Sarah has built this brand on calling her followers her sissies.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And in one of her vlogs where she spoke about
- 16:45Speaker 1: her conception journey recently, she said, oh, you know, I
- 16:47Speaker 1: just love opening up on my vlog because I feel
- 16:49Speaker 1: like I'm talking to my sisters. So you can't then
- 16:52Speaker 1: hit back at followers when they feel like they are
- 16:54Speaker 1: your sister and complain when they feel like their sister
- 16:57Speaker 1: hasn't treated them properly. And this whole commentary around get
- 17:01Speaker 1: a better hobby rather than obsessing over me, really rubbed
- 17:05Speaker 1: me up the wrong way. It's like, do you realize
- 17:06Speaker 1: that people watching your content as their hobby is paying
- 17:10Speaker 1: for your bills? It does seem to be Sarah's new
- 17:12Speaker 1: thing to label people as obsessed because we recently discussed
- 17:16Speaker 1: how problematic it was for her to return to the
- 17:18Speaker 1: trend of sharing what she eats in a day. And
- 17:21Speaker 1: we posted a TikTok video about it. And she hit
- 17:23Speaker 1: out at us in the comments saying, your obsession with
- 17:26Speaker 1: commenting and scrutinizing my life is honestly getting uncomfortable, girls. Now,
- 17:31Speaker 1: I think this comment proves she doesn't have a comeback
- 17:34Speaker 1: for her behavior. Why doesn't she ever acknowledge what the.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Video is about? It's always like, you're obsessed with me.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we did follow up writing, hi, Sarah, you're one
- 17:42Speaker 1: of many influencers who we discuss on our pop culture podcast.
- 17:46Speaker 1: As one of Australia's biggest YouTubers, the content you put
- 17:48Speaker 1: out to your millions of followers sparks conversations around the world.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Sometimes we agree with you and sometimes we don't. In
- 17:54Speaker 1: this instance, you discussed how your previous What I Eat
- 17:56Speaker 1: In A Day videos reflected a time in your life
- 17:59Speaker 1: when you were practicing disordered eating. What concerns us is
- 18:02Speaker 1: those videos are still up online for vulnerable people to
- 18:04Speaker 1: see and are monetized. While you might not be in
- 18:07Speaker 1: that mindset anymore, your old content is still being served
- 18:10Speaker 1: up to vulnerable women who will copy what you used
- 18:12Speaker 1: to eat in the hope of obtaining your body. Just
- 18:15Speaker 1: wondering if you've thought about taking those videos down. Now, Sarah,
- 18:18Speaker 1: of course, did not respond to that question. Her comment
- 18:21Speaker 1: had very mean girl vibes and I would have respected
- 18:24Speaker 1: it more if she came back to us explaining why
- 18:27Speaker 1: she feels a day on the plate still has a
- 18:29Speaker 1: place in society, not just said that we're obsessed with
- 18:32Speaker 1: her and how dare we talk about her life when
- 18:34Speaker 1: she literally puts it out to millions of people. It
- 18:36Speaker 1: would be nice for her to take accountability for once.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And it does concern me that she was clearly filming
- 18:40Speaker 1: this what I eat in a day video while she
- 18:42Speaker 1: was pregnant. So no doubt it's going to be what
- 18:45Speaker 1: I eat in a day as a pregnant woman, which
- 18:47Speaker 1: I think is even more unhelpful. And I think what
- 18:51Speaker 1: added to the grossness of this whole thing is the
- 18:53Speaker 1: fact that she literally timed the promotion of her pregnancy
- 18:56Speaker 1: workout guide with her pregnancy announcement. I think Sarah really
- 19:00Speaker 1: needs to reflect on the fact that she has millions
- 19:03Speaker 1: of followers on Instagram and YouTube, and she should be
- 19:06Speaker 1: using her platform to be empathetic and considerate of women,
- 19:09Speaker 1: particularly those who are struggling with their fertility.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Put a finger down if someone stole your cat, you
- 19:15Speaker 4: found out who it was and confronted them. They denied everything,
- 19:19Speaker 4: have so many inconsistencies in their story, and it's all
- 19:24Speaker 4: still ongoing.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Gold Coast influencer Olivia Mathis has issued a desperate plea
- 19:29Speaker 1: to anyone with information about her beloved Bengal cat, Hawkey,
- 19:33Speaker 1: who was reportedly stolen over a week ago. This story
- 19:37Speaker 1: is so sad.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Sophie, can you tell us how it's all unfolded?
- 19:40Speaker 1: This story does have quite a few twists and turns,
- 19:42Speaker 1: and it all started when Olivia received information from a
- 19:45Speaker 1: neighbor that her cat, Hawky had been dropped at the pound.
- 19:49Speaker 1: So the neighbor's dad had allegedly found Hawky wandering and
- 19:53Speaker 1: decided to drop the pedigree cat at the pound. Now,
- 19:57Speaker 1: here's what Olivia said about the exchange with her neighbor.
- 20:01Speaker 7: The chick said, I made sure my dad went there.
- 20:06Speaker 7: I watched his location. I watched his location leave their
- 20:11Speaker 7: house and followed his location to the pound. Because, like,
- 20:15Speaker 7: why would you say that? That's so dodgy.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Alright, I reckon they're trying to sell.
- 20:19Speaker 7: This is getting sus as fuck. So, the lady who
- 20:23Speaker 7: said that her dad's dropped Hawkey to the pound said
- 20:27Speaker 7: that she was dropped off on Saturday at lunchtime. The
- 20:30Speaker 7: lady that works here at the pound said that no
- 20:32Speaker 7: one dropped off a cat on Saturday. These people who
- 20:36Speaker 7: have taken Hawkey.
- 20:39Speaker 7: Three days ago, four days ago, are lying.
- 20:44Speaker 1: As you can hear from that grab, Olivia and her
- 20:47Speaker 1: mum raced down to the pound to be told by
- 20:50Speaker 1: staff that no Bengal cat had been dropped there. This
- 20:54Speaker 1: led Olivia to confront her neighbour via text. She explained
- 20:58Speaker 1: to her neighbour that the pound had no information on
- 21:00Speaker 1: a Bengal cat and to confirm what day Hawkey was
- 21:04Speaker 1: dropped there and also to confirm.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That she was at the right pound.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Now, the neighbor replied confirming the details, but when Olivia
- 21:12Speaker 1: asked for her to send through her dad's contact details,
- 21:15Speaker 1: her story suddenly changed. The neighbor wrote, hi, I've talked
- 21:18Speaker 1: to my father and he didn't tell me, but as
- 21:21Speaker 1: he went to take the cat out the car, it
- 21:23Speaker 1: escaped and he freaked out and didn't tell me. Now,
- 21:27Speaker 1: this message came through four days after Hawkey had allegedly
- 21:31Speaker 1: been dropped at the pound.
- 21:33Speaker 2: It's very sus that the dad would have only just
- 21:35Speaker 2: mentioned this news now.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Whoops.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 21:38Speaker 1: This pisses me off so much. It's clear something more
- 21:41Speaker 1: is going on. I feel so heartbroken for poor Olivia.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Hawky is such a beautiful cat and she keeps posting
- 21:48Speaker 1: these really sad videos of her and the cat together.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, he has.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Been by her side since she moved out of her
- 21:53Speaker 1: family home and into her new place.
- 21:56Speaker 2: And he is a very striking cat.
- 21:58Speaker 1: As people know, Bengal cats, they have that sort of
- 22:00Speaker 1: tiger print and purebred Bengal cats are in very high demand.
- 22:04Speaker 1: So they can fetch upwards of $ 2, 000. So that is
- 22:08Speaker 1: what makes this disappearance so fishy. I do like that
- 22:11Speaker 1: Olivia is using her very large following to her advantage.
- 22:15Speaker 1: So she has over 760,000 followers and a lot of
- 22:19Speaker 1: influencer friends. So she's essentially been sharing this lost cat
- 22:23Speaker 1: post that has gone everywhere. It's been popping up on
- 22:26Speaker 1: all of these influencers I follow's Instagram stories. Well, it's
- 22:29Speaker 1: not just a lost cat post. She says that this
- 22:31Speaker 1: cat has been stolen. So in the post, it says,
- 22:34Speaker 1: My cat has been stolen and we believe the thieves
- 22:37Speaker 1: are trying to sell her. She also urged her followers
- 22:40Speaker 1: to keep an eye out on Marketplace or just in general,
- 22:43Speaker 1: if anyone is trying to sell this cat online. Surely
- 22:46Speaker 1: one of the big news stations is going to pick
- 22:48Speaker 1: up on this.
- 22:48Speaker 2: This is such a good story.
- 22:50Speaker 1: The Daily Mail has so far and also the Gold
- 22:52Speaker 1: Coast Bulletin. So hopefully it will lead to some information.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It did lead to a number of blue ticks reaching
- 22:59Speaker 1: out in the comment section. So fitness influencer, Ashy Bynes,
- 23:02Speaker 1: shared that she had gone through something similar.
- 23:04Speaker 2: She wrote, I'm so sorry you're going through this. We'll
- 23:07Speaker 2: continue to share. My heart breaks for you.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Someone stole my cat years ago and I never got
- 23:12Speaker 1: him back. So I know the feeling and it's gut-wrenching.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Sending you strength. When I saw this unfolding online, I
- 23:17Speaker 1: was wondering if this was targeted because Olivia does share
- 23:21Speaker 1: about her cat openly online. And as you've touched on,
- 23:23Speaker 1: it is an expensive cat. However, Olivia has actually pointed
- 23:27Speaker 1: the blame at her neighbors saying this.
- 23:30Speaker 8: All right, I'm gonna share with you guys as much
- 23:32Speaker 8: as I can about this whole situation without getting myself
- 23:35Speaker 8: in trouble, but just know it is completely effed up.
- 23:38Speaker 8: There is no doubt in my mind that my neighbors
- 23:40Speaker 8: have stolen my cat and are withholding information of.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Her current whereabouts.
- 23:46Speaker 8: The two interactions that I had with them, their stories
- 23:48Speaker 8: were so inconsistent. They also kept making mention of how
- 23:51Speaker 8: much she was worth. They're deflecting hard, being defensive, Apparently
- 23:57Speaker 8: the last time they saw her was on their driveway,
- 24:00Speaker 8: yet they don't want to prove this with the camera
- 24:04Speaker 8: that faces their driveway.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Well, as she outlined, the most frustrating thing is that
- 24:09Speaker 1: these neighbors actually have CCTV outside the front of their house.
- 24:13Speaker 1: So they could clearly try and prove their so-called story
- 24:17Speaker 1: about discovering this cat and taking him to the pound.
- 24:20Speaker 2: But obviously they have something to hide.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It's so frustrating because what are you supposed to do
- 24:24Speaker 1: in this situation? I mean, I'd be wanting to call
- 24:26Speaker 1: the police, but there's not really that much they can do.
- 24:29Speaker 2: This has set me off.
- 24:30Speaker 1: The thought of someone stealing your pet, it's one of
- 24:33Speaker 1: the most distressing things I can think of.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I'd go around and kick the door open. I'd be like, look,
- 24:38Speaker 2: I'm here for Hawkey. Well, the sad thing is she's
- 24:40Speaker 2: such a young girl.
- 24:41Speaker 1: She probably doesn't feel comfortable getting herself into a situation
- 24:45Speaker 1: like that. I think there's three to four people living
- 24:47Speaker 1: in this house and it's just her living on her own.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And the thing is, the cat might not be there anymore.
- 24:51Speaker 2: They may have already sold it.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's just disgusting. She is currently offering a cash reward
- 24:57Speaker 1: for anyone with verified information about Hawkey's disappearance or for
- 25:00Speaker 1: his return. She's been putting up all of these posters
- 25:04Speaker 1: in her area with the heading stolen. And on the poster,
- 25:08Speaker 1: she did actually list her email address.
- 25:09Speaker 2: And phone number.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And some followers were concerned thinking, oh my God, so
- 25:13Speaker 1: many people are going to be hitting up Olivia, just
- 25:15Speaker 1: trying to talk to her.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It is not her real number. It is someone else's number,
- 25:20Speaker 2: putting it out there.
- 25:21Speaker 1: But I mean, even I hope from us talking about it,
- 25:23Speaker 1: maybe someone has information about this cat because I really
- 25:26Speaker 1: hope that they get reunited. And hopefully someone just drops
- 25:29Speaker 1: it off in a box on her doorstep, no questions asked,
- 25:32Speaker 1: because the last thing you want is someone to panic
- 25:35Speaker 1: and to do any sort of harm towards this cat.
- 25:37Speaker 1: They just need to return it.
- 25:38Speaker 7: You got a pet.
- 25:40Speaker 6: You got a responsibility. If your dog is lost, you
- 25:43Speaker 6: don't look for an hour and then call it quits.
- 25:46Speaker 6: You get your ass out there and you find that
- 25:48Speaker 6: fucking dog.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Kyrie Harvey has soft-launched her new puppy less than two
- 25:53Speaker 1: weeks after confirming the news that she rehomed her Aussie
- 25:56Speaker 1: Doodle socks. The latest update in the saga has upset
- 26:00Speaker 1: a lot of people, Kate. Yeah, people are not happy,
- 26:03Speaker 1: especially considering the murkiness of the timeline. So it is
- 26:07Speaker 1: unclear when Kyrie rehomed her original dog socks and when
- 26:11Speaker 1: this new puppy arrived. What we do know is Kyrie
- 26:14Speaker 1: confirmed the news of the rehoming on the 24th of
- 26:17Speaker 1: April after being bombarded with messages from her followers after
- 26:21Speaker 1: the dog suddenly disappeared from her account. Now Soph, can
- 26:25Speaker 1: you refresh people's memories on the reason why Kyrie rehomed
- 26:28Speaker 1: the dog? Well in the statement she cited the dog's
- 26:31Speaker 1: size as one of the main reasons that she decided
- 26:34Speaker 1: to rehome him. She also said that the dog's safety
- 26:37Speaker 1: was a concern and cited that they couldn't stop him
- 26:40Speaker 1: from climbing over their fence and getting onto the road.
- 26:43Speaker 1: And she finished up writing, we plan to adopt a
- 26:46Speaker 1: much smaller breed that will fit into our family's lifestyle.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I hope that you respect that as a family, we
- 26:51Speaker 1: did what's right for us and also ensured Socks was
- 26:54Speaker 1: safe and loved too. Now, last week, we did discuss
- 26:57Speaker 1: how there were conspiracy theories floating around that the family
- 27:01Speaker 1: had already adopted a Cocker Spaniel. At the time, Super
- 27:05Speaker 1: Sleuth had spotted that Kyrie had started following Cocker Spaniel
- 27:08Speaker 1: breeders pages. And it appears those theories were 100% correct
- 27:12Speaker 1: because on Tuesday, Kyrie uploaded an Instagram story promoting eye
- 27:17Speaker 1: patches with a new Cocker Spaniel puppy in the frame.
- 27:19Speaker 1: She was soft launching that dog a little bit like
- 27:21Speaker 1: how Sammy Robinson was soft launching.
- 27:23Speaker 2: A new man. Minus the Mexican. I mean, both adorable,
- 27:26Speaker 2: it sounds like.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah. It is interesting that she hasn't hard launched the dog.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Do you guys think that she will? Probably not after
- 27:34Speaker 1: what she's copped for doing the soft launch. I mean,
- 27:36Speaker 1: I can't.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Feel for her.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Because she did outline that they were still had the
- 27:41Speaker 1: intention of getting another dog. She does have three kids
- 27:44Speaker 1: who are most likely heartbroken that their other dog has
- 27:47Speaker 1: had to be rehomed. The kids didn't make the decision
- 27:49Speaker 1: that it was too difficult for him. The kids wouldn't
- 27:51Speaker 1: have been doing anything.
- 27:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 1: But a lot of people have been saying, why is
- 27:54Speaker 1: this Cocker Spaniel any different? Well, as someone who has
- 27:58Speaker 1: a Cocker Spaniel, they are very difficult as puppies. Like
- 28:02Speaker 1: the first six weeks with my dog Archie, he was
- 28:05Speaker 1: a complete handful. So I wonder if they're like, oh
- 28:07Speaker 1: my God, I didn't realize that it would be like this.
- 28:09Speaker 2: This is why people are upset.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Because the inference is that this woman has such a
- 28:13Speaker 1: perfect life on Instagram.
- 28:15Speaker 2: She shares all about.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Her perfect table settings and her perfect children and her
- 28:19Speaker 1: perfect home. And this Aussie doodle obviously didn't seem to
- 28:23Speaker 1: fit into her life. So there is the concern that, well,
- 28:26Speaker 1: when this puppy starts acting up and starts chewing the couch,
- 28:29Speaker 1: you know, is.
- 28:30Speaker 2: She going to get rid of that?
- 28:31Speaker 1: I think where she's got herself in hot water is
- 28:33Speaker 1: this wording around adopting a new dog. Because when I
- 28:38Speaker 1: saw that, I was like, oh, okay, so she's going
- 28:39Speaker 1: to make good. She's going to go down to the
- 28:41Speaker 1: pound and give a dog that needs a new home, a.
- 28:45Speaker 2: New lease on life.
- 28:46Speaker 1: It's going to be a very positive story. However, She's
- 28:48Speaker 1: gone out and purchased a new pedigree dog. And it
- 28:51Speaker 1: also plays into this narrative online that she just cares
- 28:53Speaker 1: about image. Yeah, but in her defense, I feel like
- 28:56Speaker 1: I'm the only one defending her, that I obviously think
- 29:00Speaker 1: that people should be adopting from pounds where that they
- 29:02Speaker 1: can or animal welfare leagues.
- 29:04Speaker 2: However, she has literally.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Said that they've had to rehome this dog due to
- 29:08Speaker 1: the fact that it was too big and potentially could
- 29:10Speaker 1: get out of their yard. So if you're adopting a
- 29:14Speaker 1: a dog where you don't necessarily know what the breed is.
- 29:16Speaker 2: You don't know what the characteristics are.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Maybe a dog that has been abandoned for, you know,
- 29:21Speaker 1: behavioral issues.
- 29:22Speaker 2: For getting too big and ruining your house.
- 29:24Speaker 1: No, but for behavioral issues and you've got young kids,
- 29:27Speaker 1: sometimes it can be difficult. Sometimes you want to go
- 29:29Speaker 1: a purebred dog that you know what the characteristics of
- 29:32Speaker 1: that dog are going to be. And a cocker spaniel
- 29:34Speaker 1: is a real family dog. Yeah, but a cocker spaniel
- 29:37Speaker 1: is not a small little lap dog. It is still
- 29:39Speaker 1: a medium-sized dog. And she hasn't addressed whether she has
- 29:43Speaker 1: fixed any of the issues that she flagged as reasons
- 29:45Speaker 1: to rehome Socks. So she said that a big reason
- 29:48Speaker 1: was the dog's safety because it could get out because
- 29:51Speaker 1: they didn't have adequate fencing. So why is it not
- 29:53Speaker 1: suddenly a problem for this dog? And she also spoke
- 29:55Speaker 1: about behavioral issues. But Anyone who has had a puppy
- 29:58Speaker 1: will know that you need to put a lot of
- 30:00Speaker 1: time and effort into training that dog. So has she
- 30:03Speaker 1: changed up her schedule to allow for that time?
- 30:05Speaker 2: I have to disagree with you, Kate.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I think that a Cocker Spaniel is a lap dog.
- 30:09Speaker 1: They are the sort of dog that follows.
- 30:10Speaker 2: You around the house. They're very chill and calm.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but that might be your dog, but that doesn't
- 30:15Speaker 1: mean every Cocker Spaniel is the same. And I just
- 30:18Speaker 1: think she needed to leave a bit of time in
- 30:20Speaker 1: between announcing that she rehomed one dog to getting another dog.
- 30:24Speaker 1: It seems quite likely that she had this cocker spaniel
- 30:27Speaker 1: when she put the announcement out.
- 30:28Speaker 2: So I just think it is not a good look
- 30:30Speaker 2: for her.
- 30:31Speaker 1: And I'm really interested to see how she navigates this
- 30:34Speaker 1: moving forward.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Is she going to hard launch the dog?
- 30:36Speaker 1: And if she does, I would like her to address,
- 30:39Speaker 1: you know, what she's changed in her lifestyle to have
- 30:41Speaker 1: a new dog. I love that we're talking about hard
- 30:42Speaker 1: launching a dog, but I think that is where we
- 30:45Speaker 1: are going to leave things today. Thank you so much
- 30:46Speaker 1: for joining us for today's episode. We all hope you
- 30:49Speaker 1: have an amazing weekend. This podcast was recorded on the
- 30:52Speaker 1: traditional land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains.
