- 0:34Speaker 4: All right, US Treasury secretary declaring war on the world
- 0:37Speaker 4: in the Financial Times today, Except except it didn't actually show.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Up in the paper.
- 0:42Speaker 5: People who are just listening to this are going to
- 0:44Speaker 5: be so confused.
- 0:46Speaker 4: So Scott Bessen's, the American Treasury Secretary, last night put
- 0:50Speaker 4: out an ophaed basically saying that anybody who doesn't join
- 0:53Speaker 4: the United States in his economic assault on Iran will
- 0:59Speaker 4: be sent it to hell.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Literally, that's what he wrote.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I was hoping to find it in the paper today,
- 1:06Speaker 4: but no, it's just an online edition.
- 1:09Speaker 6: Only Ryan Grim Financial Times subscriber is another delightful surprise.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's a good paper if you're listening to this.
- 1:16Speaker 6: Ryan just opened the show with his head behind a
- 1:19Speaker 6: copy of the Financial Times.
- 1:20Speaker 5: That's what the wrestling was in the background.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Well, it's a good paper because they will basically report
- 1:26Speaker 4: the news directly because it's for people who say, own
- 1:32Speaker 4: a mine in Senegal, and so they actually need to
- 1:36Speaker 4: know what's going on like they don't want to be
- 1:37Speaker 4: lied to like the New York Times audience.
- 1:40Speaker 6: And that's where the Financial Times comes from the picture
- 1:42Speaker 6: and Scott bestn't threatening Economic d Day, which we're going
- 1:45Speaker 6: to break down for everyone, big show. We're also talking
- 1:49Speaker 6: about this meeting that happened between Jared Kushner and Hakim
- 1:52Speaker 6: Jeffries that has everyone on the Democratic Party enmeshed and
- 1:57Speaker 6: yet another major what would we even all this conflagration?
- 2:01Speaker 1: I guess it's just very weird is going on here.
- 2:04Speaker 5: It's very weird.
- 2:05Speaker 6: Flock held the convention and didn't let journalists in, and
- 2:08Speaker 6: we have some funny video about that and more serious
- 2:10Speaker 6: details to get to on that front as well. We're
- 2:13Speaker 6: going to break down a crazy story about former Trump
- 2:16Speaker 6: campaign manager Brad Parscale, Brian, Brian.
- 2:19Speaker 5: I almost called you.
- 2:20Speaker 6: I was saying Brad and Ryan at the same time,
- 2:22Speaker 6: and combined with Brian, combined in to Brian, You're also
- 2:25Speaker 6: known as Eric.
- 2:25Speaker 1: You have many names, That's right.
- 2:26Speaker 4: So Parscale's business partner in South America is now under
- 2:32Speaker 4: arrest in Bolivia for hiring a hitman to kill his
- 2:38Speaker 4: ex girlfriend. And she survived, and she is now unraveling
- 2:43Speaker 4: he and Parscale's entire elaborate scheme that they've been unfolding with.
- 2:50Speaker 4: You know, Brad Parscales is Raeli money. He is a
- 2:53Speaker 4: registered foreign agent for Israel. Utterly incredible story. We're going
- 3:00Speaker 4: to have some footage from you of power Scales partner
- 3:03Speaker 4: sobbing in elevator surrounded by reporters.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Absolutely wild and nobody is talking about it. Ryan.
- 3:10Speaker 6: You also wanted to discuss this James O'Keeffe verdict, which
- 3:13Speaker 6: appears like a pretty significant, honestly.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Win for journalists.
- 3:17Speaker 4: CC's a Circuit Court of Appeals ruling on behalf of O'Keefe.
- 3:22Speaker 4: So O'Keefe versus Democracy Partners Democratic Leaning Parties, an organization
- 3:29Speaker 4: that he basically ran a sting on pretty resounding victory
- 3:33Speaker 4: for him, which creates some what I would say, new
- 3:37Speaker 4: protections for press freedom. So I agree, we don't don't
- 3:41Speaker 4: have to cheer O'Keefe, but we can cheer the O'Keefe ruling.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Yeah, it's I mean, it's always good to be able
- 3:47Speaker 6: to record when you're a journalist.
- 3:49Speaker 5: So we'll have details on.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That, and you've got one.
- 3:52Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, in that block, we'll also talk about this
- 3:55Speaker 6: ridiculous FED plot that they're championing.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Right now. I have the NBC head line open in
- 4:00Speaker 5: front of me.
- 4:01Speaker 6: FBI thwarts and alleged ISIS inspired plot to bomb New
- 4:04Speaker 6: York capital.
- 4:05Speaker 5: The better headline would be FBI thwarts an.
- 4:08Speaker 6: FBI inspired plot to bomb your capital.
- 4:11Speaker 5: But we'll dig into that, and we have a guesst
- 4:13Speaker 5: Gabriel Zickmann.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Right, yes.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Zupman is the probably the foremost scholar on wealth inequality
- 4:19Speaker 4: at this point, a professor in berkeleyn also in France.
- 4:21Speaker 4: In France, he's the father of the eponymous Zupman tax,
- 4:26Speaker 4: which is a two percent annual tax on billionaires, but
- 4:30Speaker 4: actually in France it's one hundred million euros and up
- 4:33Speaker 4: it did not.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Pass in France.
- 4:36Speaker 4: It continues to be a controversy there, but we're going
- 4:39Speaker 4: to talk about the California billionaires tax that is on
- 4:43Speaker 4: the on the ballot there and also just you know
- 4:46Speaker 4: where this movement is going.
- 4:47Speaker 5: And that looks like.
- 4:48Speaker 6: We also have an AMA scheduled today, So if you
- 4:50Speaker 6: want to be part of the AMA sessions we do
- 4:54Speaker 6: here live on the show, go ahead, head over to

- 5:16Speaker 6: that free month long trial.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Get on board, all right. So turning to Economic d Day,
- 5:22Speaker 4: let's do it so. Treasury Secretary Scott Besson is holding
- 5:27Speaker 4: a two o'clock pm Eastern Time press conference at the
- 5:31Speaker 4: Treasury Department. Hey, Treasury, I submitted from my press credentials
- 5:34Speaker 4: for this. I have not heard back. Come on, hurry up,
- 5:37Speaker 4: get on that. Last night he published an op ed
- 5:41Speaker 4: in the Financial Times that the Financial Times didn't bother
- 5:44Speaker 4: to put in their print newspaper, which is kind of interesting.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Let's go through some of it. It's commpletely insane. Frankly,
- 5:52Speaker 4: it doesn't look like something he wrote. I don't know
- 5:54Speaker 4: if Ai wrote this. It makes absolutely no sense. I
- 5:58Speaker 4: think the thrust it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think what he's.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Trying to say is that he's going to bring about
- 6:06Speaker 4: economic isolation of Iran this afternoon. And you might say
- 6:10Speaker 4: to yourself, wait a minute, I thought we've been doing
- 6:12Speaker 4: that for forty seven years. I think what he's going
- 6:15Speaker 4: to say is that he's going to then apply secondary
- 6:19Speaker 4: sanctions to countries do business with Iran, which would.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Be China like most particularly now.
- 6:27Speaker 4: If you remember, back in the spring of twenty twenty five,
- 6:31Speaker 4: Trump and Bestent began their economic agenda by trying to
- 6:38Speaker 4: in April and May of twenty twenty five, trying to
- 6:42Speaker 4: economically isolate China. Remember they started out they put tariffs
- 6:46Speaker 4: on everybody, and then they said, actually, we're going to
- 6:49Speaker 4: roll back these tariffs. We're only putting tariffs on China,
- 6:51Speaker 4: and everybody's going to join us in isolating China. And
- 6:55Speaker 4: about two weeks later, he completely capitulated on that because
- 6:58Speaker 4: it was an utterly stupid idea now he's going to
- 7:00Speaker 4: try to do that with the Iran trying to bring
- 7:03Speaker 4: China in.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So he begins this, just like this is one.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Of the scariest op eds I've ever read, because it's
- 7:11Speaker 4: like this, this is a government led by complete and
- 7:16Speaker 4: total maniacs who are divorced from reality. He starts out with,
- 7:22Speaker 4: come on man. In nineteen forty three, the Allied Powers
- 7:25Speaker 4: convened the Tehran Conference to plot the course of an
- 7:29Speaker 4: uncharted act. First of all, bunch of mixed metaphors, terrible writing,
- 7:33Speaker 4: plot the.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Course of an untraded act?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, just what are you doing?
- 7:36Speaker 6: Like?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Who wrote this?
- 7:39Speaker 4: As Roosevelt in Churchill wade a campaign that would culminate
- 7:42Speaker 4: in the Normandy landings. They asked themselves what could be
- 7:45Speaker 4: done quote to bring the greatest pressure to bear on
- 7:47Speaker 4: the enemy. The only connection that this has to anything
- 7:53Speaker 4: is Tehran.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That the conference happened to be in Tehran? Like what
- 7:57Speaker 1: do you like?
- 7:58Speaker 4: So right away I'm embarrassed for them, just from a
- 8:02Speaker 4: literary and journalistic perspective, What kind of an opening is this?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Now?
- 8:07Speaker 4: He goes on to say, Trump has you know, smashed
- 8:10Speaker 4: Iran's military, it weakened its nuclear program, which he spells
- 8:14Speaker 4: in the English way, which is always funny to see
- 8:16Speaker 4: from an American. Now we are entering the end game,
- 8:20Speaker 4: and you've been hearing this metaphor from JD. Vance too right,
- 8:22Speaker 4: that we're in the endgame. Which the thing you could
- 8:26Speaker 4: take away from this is that the US, as far
- 8:29Speaker 4: as it is concerned, is done with its military assault
- 8:34Speaker 4: on Iran, that they've shot everything they've got. Now they
- 8:37Speaker 4: may get dragged into it again, but from their perspective,
- 8:42Speaker 4: they're done with this.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So then he goes on to talk about Pascal.
- 8:48Speaker 4: He sure does, Emily, as our expert on Christian philosophy,
- 8:55Speaker 4: will be able to maybe walk us through this. In
- 8:58Speaker 4: the seventeenth century, philosopher Pascal gave enduring expression to the dilemma.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Beneath this temptation, he understood that uncertainty does not absolve
- 9:07Speaker 4: men or nations of divine judgment. In fact, it demands
- 9:11Speaker 4: a more exacting appraisal of risk and imposes a higher
- 9:15Speaker 4: price for error.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Pascal, he goes on.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Pascal's eponymous wager now applies to Iran's lifelines. Nations that,
- 9:23Speaker 4: in courting reprieve from Tehran continue to replenish the very
- 9:28Speaker 4: regime from which they seek protection and now exceed the
- 9:32Speaker 4: limits of America's tolerance. So Glea's clearly aimed at China, Cutter, Uae, Turkey, Iraq,
- 9:41Speaker 4: all these countries in the region that are cutting deals
- 9:43Speaker 4: with Iran, that do business with Iran.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Can you I have not been.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Able to figure out how on earth Pascal's wager applies here.
- 9:53Speaker 4: So Pascal's wager for like the people who don't know,
- 9:56Speaker 4: is he says, Hey, there may or may not be
- 9:59Speaker 4: a god, right, we don't know, But think about the wager.
- 10:05Speaker 1: If there is a.
- 10:06Speaker 4: God and you don't believe in one, and you're wrong,
- 10:10Speaker 4: you're spending eternity in hell. If there is not a
- 10:14Speaker 4: god and you believe in one, well you led a
- 10:16Speaker 4: religious life and then you die and nothing happens, no harm,
- 10:20Speaker 4: no foul. So from his perspective, given those two rational choices,
- 10:25Speaker 4: you might as well just believe, because what do you
- 10:28Speaker 4: have to lose.
- 10:30Speaker 1: How does this apply here?
- 10:31Speaker 5: It doesn't, It doesn't.
- 10:33Speaker 4: It has to There has to be somewhere in his
- 10:36Speaker 4: mind to be honest.
- 10:38Speaker 6: If we bring this back to the opening graph, the
- 10:41Speaker 6: lead of the saab Ed, it seems to me like
- 10:44Speaker 6: what they know. They're really saying is they've exhausted their
- 10:48Speaker 6: military options to your point, and they're now trying to
- 10:51Speaker 6: very flamboyantly declare some speech writer was trying to make
- 10:57Speaker 6: a very poetic rendering.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Is this because the Iranians are constantly citing poets.
- 11:02Speaker 5: And probably that's probably exactly what it is.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Like we know one Pascal that can had a wager.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They say it.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Then, so Besin or whoever wrote this says, at the end,
- 11:12Speaker 4: the world should understand that our objective is to sever
- 11:15Speaker 4: every economic lifeline that sustains the tyrannical regime until Tehran
- 11:20Speaker 4: stands alone. Pascal considered salvation to be a choice. As
- 11:24Speaker 4: a great wave of American resolve comes ashore, are Irans
- 11:29Speaker 4: and nablers willing to wager their future against it?
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is what I think.
- 11:36Speaker 6: This is an important graph in this it's probably on
- 11:38Speaker 6: a thousand words. The alternative for those who tended themselves
- 11:41Speaker 6: to Tehran is the foreclosure of any path to lasting prosperity.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Elicit financi will flourish, as it so often does where
- 11:46Speaker 6: confidence has collapsed, and any nation that serves as the
- 11:49Speaker 6: financial artery of a withering regime should expect to share
- 11:51Speaker 6: in its isolation, to become a sanctuary for terrorists, to become,
- 11:54Speaker 6: in the eyes of the United States, a global pariah.
- 11:56Speaker 6: He goes on to say, the President has created the
- 11:59Speaker 6: conditions to leverage every agency authority action many in every
- 12:02Speaker 6: action that many assumed we would never summon. This is
- 12:05Speaker 6: I think why they felt confident, stretching to Pascal's wager, saying, well,
- 12:11Speaker 6: if if there's a United States God in the geopolitical stage,
- 12:16Speaker 6: wouldn't you be smarter to just act as though wouldn't
- 12:20Speaker 6: it be more rational to act as though the United
- 12:22Speaker 6: States is God? Yeah, is going to use its godlike
- 12:25Speaker 6: powers over the economic well being of the globe.
- 12:29Speaker 4: That's so, that was what I thought they meant. But
- 12:34Speaker 4: the problem with that is it's a hell of a stretch.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Let's say a raq take a Rack for example, is
- 12:40Speaker 4: presented with this Pascal's wager. You either believe that America
- 12:43Speaker 4: is God or America is not God. So you believe
- 12:46Speaker 4: America's God, and then you several ties with Iran. That
- 12:51Speaker 4: is completely different than Pascal's wager, which is you go
- 12:56Speaker 4: to church and you believe in God like. There's not
- 12:57Speaker 4: a whole lot of cost, he's saying, and in fact
- 13:00Speaker 4: actually a benefit because you live a.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Better, more fulfilling life.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Iraq, by cutting itself off from Iran, would be devastating
- 13:09Speaker 4: its own economy. Pascal never said it, You should devastate
- 13:12Speaker 4: your own economy. He has, just in the off chance
- 13:15Speaker 4: that the United States is God.
- 13:16Speaker 6: So right right, He says, any remaining tie to Turan
- 13:21Speaker 6: will hasten the economic ostracism of countries and entities, whether
- 13:24Speaker 6: that tie be purposefully constructed.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Or willfully ignored.
- 13:27Speaker 6: And if as the regimes grasp on power crumbles alongside
- 13:30Speaker 6: its economy, Iran resorts to military action against US forces
- 13:34Speaker 6: or its golf neighbors make the mistake, President Trump will
- 13:36Speaker 6: respond swiftly and decisively. So pulled up Iran's biggest import
- 13:41Speaker 6: partners at least, says of twenty twenty four, by far
- 13:43Speaker 6: and away, the biggest was China for Turkey, and then
- 13:46Speaker 6: Brazil almost tied with Turkey and Brazil, then after that
- 13:49Speaker 6: Germany and India.
- 13:51Speaker 4: If you, if you're Trump and you actually could do this,
- 13:54Speaker 4: wouldn't you have done this before going to war?
- 13:56Speaker 6: Well? Indeed, the same map ed talks about how Trump
- 13:59Speaker 6: has crippled the Irani and economy. So this is an
- 14:03Speaker 6: not beed that again, I think is some speech writer,
- 14:08Speaker 6: very or some obed writer, very flamboyantly is trying to
- 14:12Speaker 6: cover up for the factor, is trying to stretch this
- 14:15Speaker 6: into an active power to say, we've exhausted all of
- 14:19Speaker 6: our military options. We don't want to lose more American
- 14:22Speaker 6: troops on the ground, and now what we're going to
- 14:24Speaker 6: do is make a really serious threat of economic d day.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Well, there is one entity, however, who is abiding by
- 14:31Speaker 4: the boycott of the entire region, and that is the
- 14:35Speaker 4: American military.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Let's put up a two.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Here's that one of these generals appears on MSNBC Barry McCaffrey.
- 14:42Speaker 1: In my judgment, the US armed forces have.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Probably permanently lost access to fifteen Persian golf bases around
- 14:51Speaker 4: now poised to control access to the Gulf States, US
- 14:55Speaker 4: will have to negotiate new access in western Saudi Arabia, Israel,
- 14:59Speaker 4: Southern Europe. So the US at least is taking the
- 15:04Speaker 4: best wager, well, saying, you know what, fine, the best
- 15:08Speaker 4: we will we will be nowhere near Iran.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Lady clear at the Pentagon, Yes, we got your boss.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Well, A one points.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Out this is scary muchI of all people pointing out
- 15:17Speaker 6: us is Abraham Lincoln's resupply problems were in a mystery
- 15:20Speaker 6: Iran hit NSA, Bahrain, that's the fifth Fleet's main logistics
- 15:24Speaker 6: hub hard in February, and then the Navy had to
- 15:26Speaker 6: shift to Diego, Garcia, twenty two hundred miles away instead
- 15:29Speaker 6: of eight hundred. Transit times roughly tripled, et cetera, et cetera.
- 15:32Speaker 5: We've been covering this for a while, but that's a
- 15:35Speaker 5: pretty fair point.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Yeah, he's making a solid point.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Now, is there some who are okay with this Iranian analyst?
- 15:45Speaker 4: I guess we can call it an analyst on Fox News. Here,
- 15:48Speaker 4: let's roll a three.
- 15:50Speaker 7: What is the American appetite for increased prices on those goods?
- 15:55Speaker 7: And you know, for me as an Iranian, a person
- 15:59Speaker 7: of Iranian descent, and my appetite is quite high for
- 16:02Speaker 7: high gas prices and for higher prices of goods because
- 16:07Speaker 7: for me it's a humanitarian issue.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Okay, Well, she's good with higher gas prices. I hope
- 16:12Speaker 1: you are too. So.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Neil Kashkari, who's the one of the was Minneapolis fed
- 16:18Speaker 4: so he recently voted against the feds dishes and decision
- 16:24Speaker 4: to keep interest rates flat, saying that because of what's
- 16:28Speaker 4: going on with this Iran war, it's driving so much
- 16:32Speaker 4: inflation that they should actually be increasing in interest rates.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Let's listen to Keshkari here.
- 16:39Speaker 8: More data is yet to come between now and our
- 16:41Speaker 8: next FMC meeting, So I don't want to prejudge things,
- 16:44Speaker 8: but what's happening in the Middle East, the conflict with
- 16:46Speaker 8: Iran is now a big driver of what's happening on inflation, because,
- 16:50Speaker 8: as you know, energy goes into every facet of the
- 16:53Speaker 8: US economy, and the longer that conflict, the more turmoil area,
- 16:57Speaker 8: the longer it goes on, the bigger effected edgepath on
- 17:00Speaker 8: the US economy and on inflation. And even if it's
- 17:04Speaker 8: driven by geopolitical factors like that, ultimately it does affect inflation. Ultimately,
- 17:08Speaker 8: it does have a bearing on the federal reserves mandate.
- 17:11Speaker 1: And so the longer that goes on, the less.
- 17:13Speaker 8: Confident I am that inflation is going to return to target.
- 17:17Speaker 8: For five years, we've been saying inflation is going to
- 17:19Speaker 8: return to target in the next year or two. It
- 17:22Speaker 8: just keeps getting pushed out eventually we're going.
- 17:25Speaker 1: To have to do more.
- 17:26Speaker 4: So now he's saying that just as the FED is
- 17:29Speaker 4: having its annual gathering in Jackson Hole this week. This
- 17:32Speaker 4: is you know, it's supposed to be a sleepy summer week.
- 17:36Speaker 4: That's often that's why they choose Jackson Halls. I guess
- 17:39Speaker 4: it's beautiful at this time of year. Probably can't be
- 17:41Speaker 4: in there too. Sure, it's not going to be sleepy
- 17:44Speaker 4: for them. This is not going to be a sleapy
- 17:45Speaker 4: week at all. I think we're going to see the
- 17:47Speaker 4: extraordinary amount of economic jitters, as the Financial Times like
- 17:52Speaker 4: to call it. People are people are absolutely panicking. Trump
- 17:56Speaker 4: has he put wash Kevin Warsh into the FED because
- 17:59Speaker 4: he wants interest.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Rates to be cut.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Yes, but his own policies, whether it's the trade war
- 18:06Speaker 4: that he launched with Canada over the weekend for some reason,
- 18:10Speaker 4: or whether it's this Iran war, keeps driving inflation up,
- 18:13Speaker 4: which then puts pressure on the FED to raise interest
- 18:18Speaker 4: rates to get to get prices back down, but at
- 18:23Speaker 4: the same time increases borrowing costs and screws off the
- 18:27Speaker 4: housing market and you know, pulls the thread on this
- 18:31Speaker 4: fragile economy.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Trump was on this worst kick before he started the
- 18:35Speaker 6: Iran war. That tells you what kind of a mess
- 18:39Speaker 6: Trump has gotten himself into. Here, By the way, that
- 18:42Speaker 6: Iranian American analyst was on Mark Lebn's show, I cannot
- 18:47Speaker 6: even convey what a disaster it is for the supporters
- 18:51Speaker 6: of this war to have people going on television and
- 18:53Speaker 6: saying they have an appetite for higher gas prices for
- 18:58Speaker 6: humanitarian reasons thousands.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Of miles away.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Also humanitarian reasons, we're going to starve ninety million people.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Is what is saying today?
- 19:07Speaker 4: Like that, today we're going to completely strangle the entire
- 19:11Speaker 4: country for humanitarian reasons.
- 19:15Speaker 5: We're just too good, too damn good.
- 19:18Speaker 4: So Mike Johnson was asked whether or not they're still
- 19:23Speaker 4: going to win the House if this war is still
- 19:25Speaker 4: going on. He's been saying it's time to wrap this
- 19:30Speaker 4: up for a very long time.
- 19:31Speaker 5: He has.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Actually that's probably been undercovered as an aspect of this
- 19:35Speaker 6: is that Mike Johnson.
- 19:37Speaker 1: He's like, Okay, we could let's wrap this.
- 19:39Speaker 6: He's heard from the members who have to go home
- 19:41Speaker 6: and defend this in the middle of the midterm cycle,
- 19:44Speaker 6: and they're not happy about it.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Mike Johnson not happy about it.
- 19:47Speaker 6: I mean some of them, to be fair, are happy
- 19:48Speaker 6: about it, but not exactly happy about how it's going
- 19:52Speaker 6: to say the least. Now, he was at the Fox
- 19:55Speaker 6: News set outside the F one race yesterday, which I
- 19:59Speaker 6: have to say was awesome.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I heard it was actually well run.
- 20:02Speaker 5: It was beautiful.
- 20:04Speaker 6: My understanding is that it wasn't really run by America
- 20:06Speaker 6: two fifty, but it was run by Penske and that whole.
- 20:09Speaker 6: They kind of took over all the logistics. But it
- 20:11Speaker 6: looked like when you're at like a Dave and Busters
- 20:13Speaker 6: and you're in one of those cars, you're like driving
- 20:15Speaker 6: through the pyramids on an arcade. Gave.
- 20:17Speaker 5: It looked like that.
- 20:18Speaker 6: It was absolutely that looks kind of fun. Yeah, it
- 20:22Speaker 6: was pretty cool now. I mean I just watched it
- 20:24Speaker 6: on TV, but it was pretty cool.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:25Speaker 6: In the middle of all of this, Mike Johnson gets
- 20:27Speaker 6: asked about Fox on Fox News about Iran.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Here is his answer.
- 20:31Speaker 1: A five.
- 20:32Speaker 9: Can Republicans do win and hold control of the House
- 20:36Speaker 9: if the Iran War is still going on in November.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Absolutely, it would be helpful to get that thing resolved
- 20:42Speaker 4: in the.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Next seventy three days. But if it's not, we're still.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Going to win that thing. It would be helpful to
- 20:48Speaker 5: get that thing resolved. And in the meantime, the.
- 20:51Speaker 6: Treasury Secretary is threatening economic d day crippling. By the way,
- 20:56Speaker 6: some like NATO allies if Turkey is a massive trading
- 21:00Speaker 6: partner with Iran, If that's actually going to happen, we're
- 21:05Speaker 6: going to start strangling other people's economies as well, because
- 21:08Speaker 6: we've run out of military options and have already sanctioned
- 21:12Speaker 6: Iran to the hilt.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Mike Johnson, I don't think that thing is going.
- 21:15Speaker 1: To be wrapped up. No, it's not looking good.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Not looking good.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Meanwhile, one of the sailors on the who is still
- 21:24Speaker 4: suffering with this two hundred and fifty plus days on
- 21:27Speaker 4: the Lincoln, his father was detained by ice can put
- 21:29Speaker 4: up a six and the Department of Hollam Security responded
- 21:35Speaker 4: to this.
- 21:36Speaker 1: There were a couple of ways they could respond to this.
- 21:39Speaker 4: They could say nothing at all, out of respect for
- 21:41Speaker 4: the sailor who's out serving his country right now. They
- 21:48Speaker 4: could even say, you know what, we're going to release
- 21:50Speaker 4: this guy because he has a valid work permit, he's
- 21:53Speaker 4: been following all the rules, he has an active asylum
- 21:56Speaker 4: clamor or whatever his particular situation is. Instead, they put
- 22:00Speaker 4: on a statement saying, basically, fu, the fact that you're
- 22:04Speaker 4: serving the country doesn't give your father the right to
- 22:06Speaker 4: break our laws. Like that was That was their That
- 22:09Speaker 4: was their statement. So the father is going to just
- 22:13Speaker 4: continue to fight for his freedom in court while his
- 22:17Speaker 4: son is fighting for everybody else's freedom from whatever threat
- 22:21Speaker 4: Iron is allegedly.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Casting our way.
- 22:25Speaker 5: We'll keep an eye on that one.
- 22:27Speaker 6: In the meantime, let's go to another fight, the one
- 22:29Speaker 6: now between Hakim Jefferies and every other Democrat all help
- 22:36Speaker 6: broke loose after The New York Times reported we can
- 22:39Speaker 6: toss this up on the screen. Exclusive New York Times
- 22:41Speaker 6: report here from Maggie Haberman double byline Meggie Haroman and
- 22:44Speaker 6: Andy Karney. Jeffries and Kushner met privately as midterm attacks fly.
- 22:50Speaker 6: The lead of the story, it says Representative Hakim Jeffries
- 22:53Speaker 6: met privately in recent weeks with Jared Kushner and discussed
- 22:57Speaker 6: potential areas of common ground. To five people with knowledge
- 23:01Speaker 6: of the meeting, the rare engagement was held in a
- 23:03Speaker 6: private space in New York City, offered up by a
- 23:05Speaker 6: mutual friend of the two men. According to two people
- 23:08Speaker 6: with knowledge of the meeting and a third who has
- 23:09Speaker 6: brief done it. By the way, we shouldn't mention Jared Kushner.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Before Donald Trump ran as a Republican, Kushner and Evanka
- 23:15Speaker 6: Trump were dem donors who were hosting fundraisers for the
- 23:17Speaker 6: likes of Corey.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Booker in their own home, so.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Not entirely surprising that there would be a mutual friend
- 23:24Speaker 6: brokering this session through aids the time supports. Neither man
- 23:29Speaker 6: would comment on it, which was described by one person.
- 23:32Speaker 6: The session was described by one person with knowledge of
- 23:33Speaker 6: it as a broad conversation on a range of topics.
- 23:39Speaker 6: This set off a predictable firestorm from people who are
- 23:44Speaker 6: already deeply frustrated with Hakim Jeffries among Democrats, Ryan and
- 23:48Speaker 6: not surprising, but also not surprising that Hakim Jeffries met
- 23:52Speaker 6: with Jared Kushner, to be honest.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Right, And that's why people are so frustrated with Kikiem
- 23:56Speaker 4: Jeffries that they would like to be surprised by this,
- 23:59Speaker 4: but they're not. And the fact that they're not surprised
- 24:01Speaker 4: by it is just another reminder that like, what's what's
- 24:04Speaker 4: going on here? Like this is this should be one
- 24:06Speaker 4: of the prime people you're going to investigate if you
- 24:09Speaker 4: take power. In fact, we put up B three Yeah, Tom,
- 24:12Speaker 4: Tommy Veeder the pod Save the World, Pod Save Jared
- 24:16Speaker 4: Kushner has no actual government job. He just uses his
- 24:20Speaker 4: family connections to get money from golf autocrats and fund
- 24:24Speaker 4: corrupt deals.
- 24:25Speaker 1: The only way Rep.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Jefferies should work with him is with demands for documents
- 24:30Speaker 4: and subpoenas.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I mean, that seems pretty clear.
- 24:34Speaker 4: That this is one of the most corrupt administration. This
- 24:39Speaker 4: is the most corrupt administration in American history, and he is,
- 24:42Speaker 4: even though he's not a part of it, is a
- 24:47Speaker 4: central node of that corruption. As soon as he left
- 24:51Speaker 4: Trump one, you know, he just cashed two billion dollars
- 24:54Speaker 4: check from Saudi Arabia to launch him.
- 24:56Speaker 6: That he's still rocket as he's negotiating deals that involve
- 24:59Speaker 6: Saudi Arabia.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, he's.
- 25:00Speaker 4: And the reason he's not an official part of the
- 25:02Speaker 4: administration is so that he doesn't have to have any
- 25:06Speaker 4: remote kind of.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Obligations to the public.
- 25:11Speaker 4: And for Jeffries to still treat him like a member
- 25:14Speaker 4: of the administration shows that what shows that that scheme
- 25:18Speaker 4: on his part has worked, has effectively worked. Meanwhile, young
- 25:22Speaker 4: Doosey over at Fox.
- 25:25Speaker 5: Do you see the younger do Sy.
- 25:26Speaker 4: The younger uh to talk to Mike Johnson, Speaker Mike
- 25:30Speaker 4: Johnson about this.
- 25:31Speaker 9: Let's roll a little that President Trump's son and law
- 25:34Speaker 9: and the man in line to be speaker of a
- 25:36Speaker 9: Democratic led House if you guys lose the majority, they
- 25:39Speaker 9: were together.
- 25:40Speaker 1: What did you think when you saw that? I heard
- 25:42Speaker 1: about it the first time this morning.
- 25:44Speaker 6: I know Jared is marka.
- 25:45Speaker 9: And he catches bets, but I'm telling you what, you
- 25:48Speaker 9: better not bet against the House Republican. Does any part
- 25:51Speaker 9: of you think that the White House might be trying
- 25:55Speaker 9: to figure out which Democrats they can work with if
- 25:58Speaker 9: Democrats make when the House, and that is why they
- 26:01Speaker 9: would send Jared Kushner to meet with Jeffries.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't know what that's about.
- 26:04Speaker 5: I know Jared has interests and lots of other things
- 26:06Speaker 5: going on. He's not really directly involved in the admin.
- 26:09Speaker 1: At least in the day to day in the White House.
- 26:11Speaker 9: Maybe Donald Trump just uses Jared Kushner to talk to
- 26:13Speaker 9: the really hard people to deal with, the Supreme Leader
- 26:17Speaker 9: of Iran or the minority leader of the House.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Assuming how Kim can still be the minority leader.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Here's the problem. The DSA is now in charge.
- 26:25Speaker 4: The Democrat Party, the radical Leftist, the insurgent left, the Communists,
- 26:29Speaker 4: the marxistm you heard it from there speaking of Mike
- 26:32Speaker 4: John's DSA is now in charge.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Great news for you step aside.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Yeah, well you can.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Here Peter Deucey is basically saying to Mike Johnson, seems
- 26:43Speaker 6: like the whole White House isn't actually sharing your confidence.
- 26:46Speaker 8: Right.
- 26:46Speaker 1: What does he say?
- 26:47Speaker 6: Don't underestimate House Republicans. Maybe they're trying to figure out
- 26:51Speaker 6: what could happen come fall. Apparently they talked about Kushner
- 26:53Speaker 6: and Jeffries talked about housing, immigration, and the high cost
- 26:57Speaker 6: of living as potential areas of common ground. That's according
- 27:00Speaker 6: to the Times report, Kushner suggested that Hakim Jeffreyes should
- 27:03Speaker 6: meet with Susie Wiles Ryan to your point, and actually
- 27:07Speaker 6: Tommy Veeters point as well. It does seem like there
- 27:11Speaker 6: might be an effort on Kushner's behalf to soften the
- 27:14Speaker 6: ground a little bit for or make it at just
- 27:17Speaker 6: all that much more difficult for Hakim Jeffries to trend
- 27:21Speaker 6: screws on Kushner and that entire wit cough Kushner operation
- 27:25Speaker 6: Fire Kushner.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I certainly wouldn't be worried.
- 27:28Speaker 4: The Democrats had four years in between Trump one and
- 27:31Speaker 4: Trump two, Kushner's corruption was wide open for everybody to see.
- 27:37Speaker 4: They did absolutely nothing about it. According to Times they
- 27:39Speaker 4: talked about. You know, they had worked together on the
- 27:41Speaker 4: First Step Act, which is this the Criminal Justice reform
- 27:44Speaker 4: that kind of Van Jones and Kushner came together to pass,
- 27:49Speaker 4: and so they knew each other from that. So maybe
- 27:52Speaker 4: they'll get the band back together do a little bit
- 27:55Speaker 4: of that.
- 27:56Speaker 6: But I mean he should actually be worried because the
- 27:58Speaker 6: Johnson point about DS members coming into Congress, they will
- 28:02Speaker 6: make it much harder for Hakim Jeffries to skate without
- 28:04Speaker 6: if he chooses to go easy on Jared Kushner, that
- 28:07Speaker 6: genuinely will make his life a living hell.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I would imagine we'll see not optimistic.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I don't know, well strength the numbers.
- 28:15Speaker 6: I mean, it's kind of what happened with Freedom Caucus
- 28:18Speaker 6: as they grew and then they grew out of control.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Obviously, Well they're kind of always out of control.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Yeah, And those kinds of investigations could be the kind
- 28:26Speaker 4: of aggressive but non controversial thing you give the left
- 28:29Speaker 4: because absolutely everyone in the party is supportive of investigating corruption.
- 28:35Speaker 1: It's like, what why they didn't do it last time?
- 28:37Speaker 1: I don't know, they just.
- 28:38Speaker 5: Padded HFC in the head and said, you guys go
- 28:40Speaker 5: after Benghazi.
- 28:41Speaker 1: You guys have like you guys do have fun with that.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Yeah, so we'll see.
- 28:46Speaker 6: But it, I mean, Hakim Jeffries, this is a pretty
- 28:50Speaker 6: if he's trying to keep his job, this is the
- 28:52Speaker 6: exact kind of headlines he does not.
- 28:53Speaker 5: Want to be generating.
- 28:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it seems to me like that could be a
- 28:57Speaker 6: legitimate threat to his job when people are innaugry in
- 29:00Speaker 6: the winter.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he's going to have a he's going to have
- 29:03Speaker 1: a tough time. Yeah.
- 29:04Speaker 4: I mean, I think so far the path is clear
- 29:07Speaker 4: for him to take the title. There's no opposition to him,
- 29:13Speaker 4: but opposition could rise up if he doesn't govern effectively
- 29:17Speaker 4: or it doesn't kind of you know, run things effectively.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Yeah. Well, let's turn now to this Flock convention in Atlanta.
- 29:27Speaker 6: Flock recently hosted a conference in Atlanta was billed as
- 29:31Speaker 6: the Atlanta Public Safety Conference, and it turns out the
- 29:35Speaker 6: public wasn't really invited.
- 29:38Speaker 5: So this is a video.
- 29:41Speaker 6: Posted by Ben Jordan on x with the caption Flock
- 29:44Speaker 6: takes their privacy very seriously, but the ethical gray area
- 29:47Speaker 6: in surveillance technology works both ways. Under no circumstances should
- 29:51Speaker 6: elected officials or public servants enjoy an expectation of privacy
- 29:55Speaker 6: when spending tax dollars to attend a surveillance lobbying event.
- 30:00Speaker 5: Let's roll the tape.
- 30:01Speaker 10: I was excited to go to Flock's big police convention
- 30:03Speaker 10: Flocked Forward. I bought a three hundred and fifty dollars
- 30:06Speaker 10: ticket and booked a hotel room at the Hilton in Atlanta.
- 30:09Speaker 10: But then Flock said no journalists allowed, which is really
- 30:13Speaker 10: kind of weird considering that your tax dollars are usually
- 30:16Speaker 10: paying for the tickets your public servants. By then, a
- 30:18Speaker 10: Flock employee contacted the hotel on my behalf and canceled
- 30:21Speaker 10: my room without notifying me, so I couldn't even be
- 30:24Speaker 10: in the building.
- 30:27Speaker 7: Shannon Joan.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Be canceled Flock.
- 30:31Speaker 10: Could keep our bodies out of the convention, but they
- 30:34Speaker 10: couldn't block our electromagnetic frequencies. Then I flew my drone
- 30:37Speaker 10: with a zoom lens over the convention as it was
- 30:40Speaker 10: letting out cool looks like lots of police and politicians
- 30:44Speaker 10: got tons of free swag. Do you recognize these attendees?
- 30:48Speaker 10: If not, that's okay, we can just use facial recognition.
- 30:52Speaker 10: Oh my god, I can't believe I was only a
- 30:55Speaker 10: drone flight away from Minnesota Senator Julian Ortman. This little
- 31:00Speaker 10: their own flight allowed us to find out that Senator
- 31:02Speaker 10: Ortman is a managing partner of Public Safety Strategies Group,
- 31:05Speaker 10: which is led by Rich Stanek, the former sheriff of
- 31:08Speaker 10: Hennepin County covering Minneapolis. And guess what FLOCK pays them
- 31:12Speaker 10: as consultants to find confidential leads to new police contracts
- 31:16Speaker 10: around the country. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
- 31:20Speaker 6: Absolutely delicious, well done, Well done using facial recognition when
- 31:24Speaker 6: they blocked the media from a FLOCK convention, getting at
- 31:27Speaker 6: your drone flying it in there, and then.
- 31:29Speaker 5: Of course assuming they followed all drone regulations in the
- 31:33Speaker 5: Atlanta area. But beautiful to see that.
- 31:37Speaker 8: Ryan.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure that they did. Yeah, I'm sure they did. Now.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Flock, on the other hand, they're a little bit it
- 31:45Speaker 4: seems less interested in following some of the thornier regulations
- 31:50Speaker 4: and constitutional protections that we have, we have in place.
- 31:54Speaker 4: The flock CEO I didn't realize was a child was
- 31:59Speaker 4: on cable defending.
- 32:02Speaker 5: I was like, oh, wow, child, we have to refer
- 32:04Speaker 5: to him as the child CEO.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Now incredible, So let's roll this. The most shocking thing
- 32:09Speaker 4: I mean it was this that this is the CEO.
- 32:11Speaker 4: After that we'll discuss what he actually says.
- 32:14Speaker 11: I value my privacy, my family values their privacy, my
- 32:17Speaker 11: employees value their privacy. But what we're talking about is
- 32:20Speaker 11: safety as well. And so I think when people talk
- 32:22Speaker 11: about just one of these privacy or safety, they're prioritizing
- 32:26Speaker 11: the wrong thing. And we have to prioritize as a
- 32:28Speaker 11: country is compromise. How do we have our safety and
- 32:31Speaker 11: how do we balance privacy? And so when I think
- 32:33Speaker 11: about legislation that calls for an outright ban, that's like
- 32:36Speaker 11: banning vehicles that would never have made sense. Instead, what
- 32:39Speaker 11: we did is we introduced laws against trunk driving, We
- 32:42Speaker 11: introduced laws around seatbelts.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Reminds me of Sean Duffy's son in law. Sean Duffy
- 32:48Speaker 4: sat next to his son in law who's running for
- 32:50Speaker 4: Congress and the guy talked about the job he had
- 32:54Speaker 4: when he was fourteen.
- 32:55Speaker 1: It's like a fast food restaurant or something.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Okay, no comment on this.
- 32:58Speaker 1: He's a friend.
- 33:00Speaker 6: It's a person I know who's actually running for congress.
- 33:03Speaker 6: But yeah, that was a pretty funny It was a
- 33:05Speaker 6: pretty funny video.
- 33:06Speaker 1: You know, you win the primary where my family's from.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I think he probably will win. He won the primary.
- 33:10Speaker 1: But Congressman Jean Duffy's son in.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Law, law, Yeah, that video was definitely not ideal. But
- 33:19Speaker 5: you're right, it's it's giving a little bit of that.
- 33:21Speaker 5: This guy is thirty eight.
- 33:23Speaker 1: By the way I looked it up, there's no chance
- 33:24Speaker 1: that guy's.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Thirty's apparently thirty eight.
- 33:26Speaker 1: He's doing the.
- 33:29Speaker 4: What's his name, Brian Armstrong, He's found the fountain of youth.
- 33:34Speaker 4: In any Brian Brian Johnson, Yes, in any event, it
- 33:42Speaker 4: would be like banning cars. I don't know, man, like
- 33:44Speaker 4: we actually did ban a bunch of unsaved cars.
- 33:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he should talk to Ralph Nader.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Yeah, we did that, and then the cars that were
- 33:53Speaker 4: deemed to be safe then went through a regulatory process
- 33:57Speaker 4: and those were allowed to be sold, and as a result,
- 34:00Speaker 4: the number of people dying in car accidents went down substantially.
- 34:04Speaker 6: I was thinking the d of the day actually that we
- 34:05Speaker 6: need to get stoler on the Flock case, because what
- 34:07Speaker 6: they're doing right now seemingly is trying to create a
- 34:10Speaker 6: monopoly of one system. It's actually kind of similar to
- 34:14Speaker 6: what I think polunteers done in certain cases, where you
- 34:16Speaker 6: have one system that you become totally dependent on, and
- 34:19Speaker 6: it sweeps up so much data that it's hard to
- 34:22Speaker 6: change products because they make it impossible to switch to
- 34:26Speaker 6: a different massive surveillance system. And so as soon as
- 34:29Speaker 6: Flock monopolizes this market all of the data, they say
- 34:33Speaker 6: that it's decentralized. I don't think anybody believes that, but
- 34:35Speaker 6: it's all in the hands of one company, and that
- 34:38Speaker 6: company has no competition, so they can choose to behave
- 34:41Speaker 6: as awfully as they want to.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and there's the you can manipulate the video now
- 34:48Speaker 4: like it's we're.
- 34:51Speaker 1: In an utterly dystopian environment at this point.
- 34:55Speaker 4: It feels like the pushback against it is moving as
- 35:00Speaker 4: quickly as it did kind of against data centers, And
- 35:03Speaker 4: I think there's some overlap between the two.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Kind of public the backlashes.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Are you seeing this on the right, you're seeing politicians
- 35:15Speaker 4: start to develop some hostility or some least some skepticism
- 35:20Speaker 4: to this.
- 35:20Speaker 6: You know, the first time I actually started to see
- 35:23Speaker 6: pushback to Flock, it was on the right, and it
- 35:26Speaker 6: was from Tim Burchett and I forget who like Eli Crane,
- 35:29Speaker 6: I think. So it was on the kind of you knowbitarian, Yeah, yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 6: libertarian populist.
- 35:35Speaker 5: Right.
- 35:36Speaker 6: So that's still there, but I think it's what we're
- 35:39Speaker 6: seeing right now is going to be a lot like
- 35:42Speaker 6: that fascinating Axios story related to the Mike Rogers campaign
- 35:47Speaker 6: and APAK that I'm sure across from Radar last week,
- 35:50Speaker 6: where they said Mike Rodgers has a strategy right now
- 35:53Speaker 6: to not affiliate with APAK because he doesn't want.
- 35:55Speaker 4: A right he said, he wants their money, he wants
- 35:58Speaker 4: their staff, right, wants their support, but just be quiet
- 36:01Speaker 4: about it.
- 36:01Speaker 6: Yeah, he doesn't want to have any public affiliation with
- 36:04Speaker 6: a pack And so right now, I think it's the
- 36:06Speaker 6: same thing with data centers, right, hasn't. Mike Rogers also
- 36:08Speaker 6: said he wants we should pause right data centers, and
- 36:12Speaker 6: some Republicans are doing that as well, like, well, let's
- 36:14Speaker 6: just pause for a year and it's the talking point
- 36:17Speaker 6: on the campaign trail. It's the way of reckoning at
- 36:20Speaker 6: least to get through this campaign with the populist backlash
- 36:23Speaker 6: to data centers to flock to a pack.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Now you can choose whether or not to believe it
- 36:28Speaker 6: Which I would say don't obviously, But they're at least
- 36:32Speaker 6: starting to realize the first step to solving problems of
- 36:35Speaker 6: meaning you have a problem, I suppose, but I don't
- 36:37Speaker 6: have much confidence they're going to go past that first part.
