Silver Lake Fish Crisis Deepens | Green Bay News
Silver Lake’s fish population is in trouble after a brutal winter that caused dangerously low oxygen levels, decimating bass and walleye numbers—with just one largemouth bass caught in the entire survey. While smaller panfish like perch and bluegill may recover in 3-5 years, northern pike and crappie are holding strong. To fix it, the DNR plans to stock walleyes every other year starting next year and is seeking a private fish farm partner to help replenish bass, since state hatcheries don’t raise them.
