- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfak go to roll right, jumpson off from
- 0:07Speaker 1: the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off on
- 0:09Speaker 1: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com, Matt pump
- 0:16Speaker 1: fakes looking at the goal line. He chose it to
- 0:18Speaker 1: the ends. One touchdown Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpers with
- 0:21Speaker 1: a diving catch in the end zone. Ten yard touchdown
- 0:25Speaker 1: reception for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington State
- 0:28Speaker 1: has found himself a place on this team. Now, here's
- 0:31Speaker 1: your host, NASA Chubby. Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the preview edition. Seahawks taking on the Cardinals, riding high
- 0:40Speaker 1: on a three game win streak, coming off a huge
- 0:42Speaker 1: win over the New York Giants, who came into that
- 0:45Speaker 1: game six and one. Things are good over at the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Virginia Mason Athletic Center as a Seahawks prepare for another
- 0:50Speaker 1: battle in the NFC. Wes what's untapped? What's untapped? Those
- 0:58Speaker 1: Cardinals bump obviously, we've just seen them a couple of
- 1:01Speaker 1: weeks ago. They are third and five in the last
- 1:03Speaker 1: place in the NFC West. They had losses to Kansas
- 1:07Speaker 1: City Rams, Philadelphia, the Seahawks, and most recently the Minnesota Vikings.
- 1:12Speaker 1: They're only wins on the season against the Raiders, Panthers,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and Saints, who have combined for a seven and sixteen record,
- 1:18Speaker 1: so they have not beat anyone good at this point.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But man bump this last week they were in the game.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Though they was in this game, playing the Vikings back
- 1:29Speaker 1: and forth, tight game throughout, the Vikings managed to hold
- 1:32Speaker 1: on for the thirty four twenty sixth victory, fifth straight
- 1:34Speaker 1: win for the Vikings, who were playing good football right now,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and man Colin Murray came off probably his best game
- 1:41Speaker 1: of the year statistically thirty one to forty four, three
- 1:45Speaker 1: hundred twenty six yards in a season, had three touchdowns.
- 1:47Speaker 1: He did, however, thir two interceptions, sacked four times. He
- 1:51Speaker 1: did lead the Cardinals in rushing as well with thirty
- 1:53Speaker 1: six yards on six carries. And then the other thing
- 1:56Speaker 1: that came back, d hop He's back. Were talking about
- 2:00Speaker 1: him a lot later, but He's back went off one
- 2:02Speaker 1: hundred fifty nine yards on twelve receptions and a crazy
- 2:05Speaker 1: one handed touchdown. But I mean it's really not that
- 2:08Speaker 1: crazy because it's dhob right, that's what he does. I mean,
- 2:12Speaker 1: so he's blowing out. Rondale Moore had seven or seven
- 2:15Speaker 1: for ninety two yards and a touchdown. Cardinals dreached within
- 2:19Speaker 1: two points early in the fourth quarter, down twenty twenty six,
- 2:22Speaker 1: Cardinals would force a Vikings pup, but unfortunately Greg Dorch
- 2:26Speaker 1: fumbled the return. Vikings would cover boom four plays later,
- 2:29Speaker 1: they're in the end zone kJ osborne from Kirk Cousins
- 2:31Speaker 1: that made it thirty four twenty six. Cardinals did have
- 2:34Speaker 1: three opportunities to tie the game up, getting past the
- 2:38Speaker 1: midfield every time, but we're unable to score in the
- 2:41Speaker 1: loss to those Vikings. So this team was kind of,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I won't say at a crossroads right now, but they
- 2:47Speaker 1: are trending in the opposite direction. Seahawks are. They've lost
- 2:49Speaker 1: three or four and things aren't going as well as
- 2:53Speaker 1: they would hope. They're in the playoffs last year, and
- 2:55Speaker 1: they're kind of this is a big game. This is
- 2:57Speaker 1: a big game for them, big game for the Seahawks.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So it's gonna be an interesting, interesting matchup. As we
- 3:01Speaker 1: had in this weekend especially since these teams just played up.
- 3:04Speaker 1: When you look at the head to head comparison, what
- 3:06Speaker 1: stands out to you? Yeah, first, let me say I
- 3:11Speaker 1: can't sleep on nobody. No, No, they lost three or four.
- 3:14Speaker 1: But we know what this team possesses. And when you
- 3:16Speaker 1: look at these numbers, you look at them on paper
- 3:18Speaker 1: and you're like, this is an average type of team.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Right their fourteenth to ranked overall offense seventeen. When it
- 3:23Speaker 1: comes to running the football, about one hundred and sixteen
- 3:26Speaker 1: yards per game, pass offensive ranked thirteen, they get about
- 3:29Speaker 1: two thirty per game, and when it comes to putting
- 3:31Speaker 1: up points, they put up twenty two points per game.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That is good enough for fifteenth. Now, when we look
- 3:36Speaker 1: at their defense, their defensive twenty second overall thirteenth to
- 3:39Speaker 1: get us to run twenty thirty against the pass, and
- 3:41Speaker 1: their thirtieth. When it comes to giving up points, they
- 3:43Speaker 1: give up the exact amount of points as the Hawks
- 3:48Speaker 1: like to score. So what I'm thinking is we should
- 3:51Speaker 1: be able to drop at least twenty six to thirty
- 3:53Speaker 1: on these guys. Now, offensively, we know that this is
- 3:56Speaker 1: a different team than what we saw last time. They
- 3:58Speaker 1: didn't have the hop with the running back situation looks
- 4:01Speaker 1: like they've been struggling in the backfield. Kyla Murray didn't
- 4:04Speaker 1: really go off. Yes, he had a hundred yards, but
- 4:06Speaker 1: it was a bit tricky. Since the Hawks have seen
- 4:08Speaker 1: these guys, they've improved offensively and defensively tremendously, and the
- 4:12Speaker 1: numbers don't even do a justice. Like the numbers don't
- 4:14Speaker 1: tell you what they've done the last three or four weeks. Offensively,
- 4:17Speaker 1: the Hawks are ring twelve overall against running the football.
- 4:21Speaker 1: They average a buck thirty. That's good for twelve. Pass offense,
- 4:24Speaker 1: they average two hundred and twenty one, that's good for eighteenth.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And I mentioned that they scored twenty six points per game.
- 4:30Speaker 1: The Cardinals give up twenty six points per game. Now,
- 4:33Speaker 1: the real lie in the numbers is when you look
- 4:35Speaker 1: at the defense. Like the last three weeks, this defense
- 4:38Speaker 1: is only given up fifteen points a game. But if
- 4:41Speaker 1: you look at this stat right here in the comparisons, overall,
- 4:44Speaker 1: they're given a twenty four points per game. They were
- 4:46Speaker 1: great against the run last week, though they are ringing
- 4:48Speaker 1: twenty eighth. They give up one hundred and forty per game.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And then their past defense has been better too. They
- 4:53Speaker 1: give up two thirty six per game. That's good for
- 4:55Speaker 1: twenty first on average. So on paper, this game like
- 5:00Speaker 1: it should be close, and it's still might be close
- 5:02Speaker 1: because this is the NFL and guys are gonna make plays.
- 5:05Speaker 1: But this doesn't tell you that the Hawks have gotten
- 5:08Speaker 1: better offensively and defensively. And for the Cardinals, it doesn't
- 5:11Speaker 1: tell you that they got a weapon named d Hopkins
- 5:14Speaker 1: back and they will throw the football down the field.
- 5:16Speaker 1: You're exactly right. You can't look too deep into numbers
- 5:18Speaker 1: for everything, because you look at some of these numbers
- 5:20Speaker 1: and you would think, well, man, the Seahawks are five
- 5:22Speaker 1: and three. Those defensive numbers, You're thinking, how in the
- 5:25Speaker 1: world are they five and three? They must have the
- 5:27Speaker 1: number one offense in the NFL, and they don't. But
- 5:29Speaker 1: as you mentioned, they play two of their most complete
- 5:32Speaker 1: games all seasons the last two weeks, so they're playing
- 5:34Speaker 1: really good football right now. And the Cardinals are dangerous too.
- 5:37Speaker 1: We're gonna get into all the matchups. They have guys
- 5:39Speaker 1: that can play. They're just kind of struggling right now.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And when we asked ot a guy, Paul More, he
- 5:43Speaker 1: said he'd always rather play teams that are coming off
- 5:46Speaker 1: a loss because they're they're struggling still than the team
- 5:48Speaker 1: cone off a win. So we'll see what happens on Sunday.
- 5:51Speaker 1: These teams are somewhat evenly matching some statistical categories. But
- 5:55Speaker 1: we'll see what plays out on Sunday. But before we
- 5:58Speaker 1: do that, let's know our history. Your history. It's very
- 6:03Speaker 1: recent history, bump. As we just talked about, Seattle leads
- 6:06Speaker 1: all time series twenty four twenty two and one. Seahawks
- 6:09Speaker 1: have one three the last four meetings and six of
- 6:12Speaker 1: the last nine. The last meeting, Seaws beat the Cardinals
- 6:14Speaker 1: nineteen to nine just three weeks ago at Luhman Field.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And this was the beginning of the turnaround. This is
- 6:19Speaker 1: where we finally got to see something because reminder, this
- 6:21Speaker 1: team had given up a ton of points to the Lions,
- 6:24Speaker 1: a ton of points and yards to the Saints, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: this is kind of where things changed. You know, Kyler Murray,
- 6:30Speaker 1: he had a pretty good game in terms of rush yards.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He ran for one hundred yards, forty two of which
- 6:34Speaker 1: came on one run. Otherwise he was pretty bottled up,
- 6:37Speaker 1: only three for two twenty two, one interception, was sacked
- 6:40Speaker 1: a season high six times, and oh Benjamin was shut down,
- 6:43Speaker 1: only going for thirty seven yards on fifteen carries and
- 6:47Speaker 1: on offense for the Seahawks, ken Walker played really well
- 6:49Speaker 1: in his first NFL start, going for ninety seven yards
- 6:52Speaker 1: on the ground twenty one carries in a game ceiling touchdown.
- 6:56Speaker 1: But this game was a knock him out, drag him
- 6:58Speaker 1: on fight. Took a little bit for the Seahawks to
- 6:59Speaker 1: kind of figure it out down the stretch or hoping.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know, both teams get paid a lot, both teams
- 7:04Speaker 1: have coaching staffs that grind and work really hard, so
- 7:06Speaker 1: there's gonna be some adjustments. But if history will repeat itself,
- 7:10Speaker 1: that should bode well for the Seahawks. But man, I'm
- 7:14Speaker 1: starting to like this segment coming up because it has
- 7:17Speaker 1: one team on the top of the mountain in first
- 7:19Speaker 1: place what's the word? And the Seahawks or the NFC
- 7:27Speaker 1: West champs again, what's the word? In the West? On
- 7:31Speaker 1: hot Talk, there's the only one team in this division
- 7:35Speaker 1: with a winning record, that is your clay are five
- 7:39Speaker 1: and three at top of this team. Right below them,
- 7:41Speaker 1: the Niners are formed four, and then the Rams are
- 7:43Speaker 1: twenty and four and the Cardinals are three and five.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Man Like I said, the Hawks are all by themselves
- 7:50Speaker 1: at top of this division. The beautiful site. But let's
- 7:52Speaker 1: talk about what happened in this division. We had a
- 7:54Speaker 1: good game, well a divisional game. I want to call
- 7:57Speaker 1: it big game, depending on who you root more. You
- 7:59Speaker 1: have the forty nine first, the Rams, and it seems
- 8:02Speaker 1: like the Rams just cannot figure out the forty nine Ers.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Man Rams have won eight consecutive matchups. Now they beat
- 8:10Speaker 1: these guys thirty one to fourteen on Sunday. They took
- 8:13Speaker 1: a seven old lead and then just put the pedal
- 8:15Speaker 1: to the metal and outscore these guys. The Rams tick
- 8:18Speaker 1: a seven oh lead and then the Ninerses bounced back
- 8:20Speaker 1: and did what they do. Christian mccafrey was added to
- 8:23Speaker 1: this roster for the forty nine Ers. Week one, take
- 8:25Speaker 1: it easy, got some carries, a couple of catches. Week two,
- 8:28Speaker 1: they said, unleash the beast, and that's exactly what they did.
- 8:31Speaker 1: This man had a rushing touchdown, he had a receiving
- 8:34Speaker 1: touchdown and a passing touchdown. He is the first player
- 8:38Speaker 1: since Ladanian Thomason in two thousand and five to do that.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It's been a while, you guys listening you're probably some
- 8:43Speaker 1: of y'all was youngster. Some of y'all was a big younger.
- 8:45Speaker 1: The last time dani and Thomason had a game like that, Man,
- 8:49Speaker 1: he finished with ninety four yards rushing, fifty five yards receiving,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and he threw for thirty four. Brandon and Ayuk he's
- 8:54Speaker 1: another receiver who's been steadily improving throughout the year. He
- 8:57Speaker 1: had himself a day eighty one yards on six recessions
- 9:00Speaker 1: and one touchdown, and the Rams continue to struggle. Man,
- 9:04Speaker 1: he didn't have the big turnovers, but he didn't lie
- 9:07Speaker 1: out the box score. He went twenty four or thirty three,
- 9:09Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty seven yards, one touchdown and half
- 9:12Speaker 1: a rushing touchdown. The Rams only rush for fifty six yards.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Cooper Cup continues to be steady, has seventy nine yards,
- 9:20Speaker 1: eight receptions and one touchdown. This Rams team is trying
- 9:24Speaker 1: to figure themselves out. This Niner team has figured themselves
- 9:27Speaker 1: and added a weapon to it. So I think right now,
- 9:30Speaker 1: when you look at this division, you gotta look at
- 9:31Speaker 1: the Niners and the Hawks as the two teams to be.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But you can never sleep on the Rams. They're well coached,
- 9:38Speaker 1: they got some talent over there. We'll see if they
- 9:40Speaker 1: can climb out of this hole. The thing that jumps
- 9:42Speaker 1: out about the Rams is they're not scoring points. This
- 9:45Speaker 1: is the most explosive offense in the league when you
- 9:47Speaker 1: think about, you know, the team that was just in
- 9:49Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, team just won the Super Bowl, and
- 9:51Speaker 1: you have Stafford and Cooper Cup and all these weapons,
- 9:54Speaker 1: but things are not going well. I believe they're thirtieth
- 9:56Speaker 1: in offense right now, which he's insane to see a
- 9:59Speaker 1: Sean mcvagh team not be able to score. And that's
- 10:02Speaker 1: what's going on right now. Yes, they beat the forty
- 10:04Speaker 1: nine ers last year and the NFC Championship games, so
- 10:06Speaker 1: that's still gonna hold weight for Ram fans out there,
- 10:08Speaker 1: of course, but eight in a row that's shocking. For
- 10:11Speaker 1: whatever reason, Kyle Shannahan has figured something out in the
- 10:14Speaker 1: regular season and it is not looking good for the Rams.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I say that with a caveat you mentioned it. The
- 10:21Speaker 1: Rams do well against the Seahawks though, So it's gonna
- 10:24Speaker 1: be two games towards the end of the season against
- 10:27Speaker 1: the Rams, hopefully one in Week seventeen. That's gonna be
- 10:30Speaker 1: hopefully big for the Seahawks to side in something. But
- 10:33Speaker 1: we won't get ahead of ourselves there. It's just something
- 10:35Speaker 1: like you mentioned to watch out for because the Rams
- 10:38Speaker 1: and the Cardinals are going in a different direction than
- 10:40Speaker 1: the Seahawks and the forty nine ers of late. But
- 10:43Speaker 1: let's get a little deeper into those Cardinals. MANA is
- 10:48Speaker 1: this man up on Hawk Talk Kyler Murray enemy number one.
- 11:01Speaker 1: He's a quarterback for these Cardinals and he's, like I
- 11:03Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, coming off one of the best games of
- 11:05Speaker 1: the season, going thirty one to forty four, three twenty
- 11:07Speaker 1: six and three touchdowns. He also completed seventy percent of
- 11:11Speaker 1: his passes for this second time this season. The only
- 11:13Speaker 1: downside was he was intercepted twice and sacked four times.
- 11:17Speaker 1: He's a guy that continues to make plays where you're like, wow,
- 11:21Speaker 1: the only couple men on this planet can make that
- 11:23Speaker 1: type of play, because that's the kind of athlete he is.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And you watch him and sometimes just an awe, and
- 11:28Speaker 1: then other times you scratch your head and he go,
- 11:30Speaker 1: what happened there? He's just so he's so talented and
- 11:33Speaker 1: he can do so many things, but the occasionally he'll
- 11:35Speaker 1: still make that big mistake that happened on Sunday, crucial
- 11:38Speaker 1: interception late led to a touchdown for the Vikings, which
- 11:41Speaker 1: ended up being a difference in the game. If you
- 11:43Speaker 1: look at Murray on the season, two hundred and fifteen
- 11:45Speaker 1: and three twenty five one, nine hundred ninety three yards,
- 11:48Speaker 1: ten touchdowns, six interceptions, been sacked nineteen times. Murray's the
- 11:53Speaker 1: Cardinals leading rusher because they've had a lot of issues
- 11:55Speaker 1: that running back. Fifty one carries, two hundred ninety nine yards,
- 11:58Speaker 1: two touchdowns. First matchup again the Seahawks, we talked about
- 12:01Speaker 1: it pedestrian effort in terms of statistically two hundred and
- 12:04Speaker 1: twenty two yards, zero touchdowns, one interception. Did have those
- 12:07Speaker 1: one hundred yards on the ground, we know, you know
- 12:09Speaker 1: forty percent of him came on one carry. But he's explosive.
- 12:13Speaker 1: He's a good football player, and he's someone you need
- 12:15Speaker 1: account for at all times. And he's really difficult because
- 12:18Speaker 1: I remember before the first matchup, they didn't have any
- 12:20Speaker 1: explosive place. They did not have a play over forty
- 12:23Speaker 1: or thirty yards all season long. First drive against the Hawks,
- 12:27Speaker 1: he's a forty two yard run and three other explosive plays.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But after they drive the Seahawks contained him and kind
- 12:32Speaker 1: of shut them down the rest of the way. They
- 12:34Speaker 1: only scored touchdown on a botched you know, punt block thing.
- 12:37Speaker 1: They didn't actually move the ball and score. So it'll
- 12:40Speaker 1: be interesting to see College is a good football player
- 12:43Speaker 1: prone to make occasionally make those mistakes down the stretch.
- 12:46Speaker 1: But we'll see the Cardinals right now fourteenth in total offense,
- 12:49Speaker 1: thirteenth in passing. And you mentioned it earlier how well
- 12:52Speaker 1: the Seahawks were playing defensively. Seahawks are now twenty seventh
- 12:55Speaker 1: in total defense, but in the last three weeks they're
- 12:58Speaker 1: only allowing two hundred and eighty nine yards per game
- 13:01Speaker 1: and the Seahawks forre eighteenth right now against passed two
- 13:03Speaker 1: twenty one. So the Seahawks are playing high. They're playing
- 13:06Speaker 1: with some confidence. So it'll be interesting to see how
- 13:08Speaker 1: they contain Murray because that's probably gonna be one of
- 13:10Speaker 1: the biggest keys to this football game. Container Murray. He
- 13:13Speaker 1: makes his thing go. You win and lose with your quarterback.
- 13:16Speaker 1: So let's put some pressure on this guy. Let's talk
- 13:19Speaker 1: about hour quarterback b MVP candidate quarterback over here, Gino's Smith.
- 13:25Speaker 1: He got guys on NFL Alive talking about this guy
- 13:28Speaker 1: being in that conversation, so you gotta give him some respect. Gino.
- 13:32Speaker 1: It's completed seventy two percent of his passes. That's good
- 13:34Speaker 1: for the best in the NFL. He's eighth in the
- 13:37Speaker 1: NFL when it comes to yards one thousand, nine hundred
- 13:39Speaker 1: and twenty four. He's fifth when it comes to passing touchdowns,
- 13:42Speaker 1: he has thirteen. He's tied for twenty seventh when it
- 13:45Speaker 1: comes to interceptions, only given up three. High numbers better
- 13:48Speaker 1: when it comes to interceptions, and he's fourth in QBR
- 13:51Speaker 1: at six six point six percent. Gino needs one touchdown
- 13:55Speaker 1: pass to set a career high for fourteen passing touchdowns
- 13:58Speaker 1: in a single season. Needless to say, he has turned
- 14:02Speaker 1: his career around and it is fun to watch him. Man.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Last week against the New York Giants, he was twenty
- 14:07Speaker 1: three to thirty four for two to twelve and two
- 14:09Speaker 1: touchdowns should have for two crucial drops, one from Lockett
- 14:14Speaker 1: that he bounces back, one from Good when I'm sure
- 14:16Speaker 1: he's going to bounce back. It's got a q be
- 14:17Speaker 1: ready to one on four and he had six games
- 14:20Speaker 1: with multiple touchdown passes. He's had seven in his whole career.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Nine seasons. Granted he sat for a while, but that
- 14:27Speaker 1: just lets you know how well he is playing. Last
- 14:30Speaker 1: time they played the Cardinals, he had himself a decent
- 14:32Speaker 1: game and wasn't anything crazy. They flied on the special
- 14:37Speaker 1: teams in defense to kind of kickstart the scene getting going.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He was twenty to thirty one, one ninety seven, no
- 14:41Speaker 1: touchdowns and no interceptions so far this year. Like I mentioned,
- 14:46Speaker 1: this guy is on a run. He has thirty five
- 14:48Speaker 1: cards for one hundred and fifty eight yards and one touchdown.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I saw this stat Natz, which was crazy to me.
- 14:53Speaker 1: He's also only off target nine percent of the time,
- 14:57Speaker 1: nine percent of the time. He has a high third
- 14:59Speaker 1: highest que Be reading when it comes to throws over
- 15:02Speaker 1: forty yards. So everyone who thought that he was just
- 15:04Speaker 1: gonna dink and dunk and move and run the offense,
- 15:06Speaker 1: yes he's duel that, but he's pushing it down the
- 15:09Speaker 1: field as well. Man. The Cardinals are the twenty second
- 15:12Speaker 1: ranked defense. They give up three to sixty two yards
- 15:15Speaker 1: per game. There's money out there, there's yards to be had,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and there are twenty third against the past given up
- 15:20Speaker 1: two fifty two. It's time for Gino to have a
- 15:24Speaker 1: better showing this matchup, and he's a better quarterback this matchup,
- 15:27Speaker 1: even though that only happened a few weeks back. But
- 15:29Speaker 1: that's the great thing about this team and Ginos that
- 15:31Speaker 1: every week they're improving, no question about it. The one
- 15:34Speaker 1: big thing to improve on offensively for the Seahawks is
- 15:38Speaker 1: and the first matchup, Gino was sacked five times, and
- 15:41Speaker 1: on the season, the Cardinals only have fourteen sacks, which
- 15:44Speaker 1: is twenty six in the NFL. You'll move the Seahawks game,
- 15:46Speaker 1: they would be tied for dead last, so they're not
- 15:49Speaker 1: getting after the quarterback. They do have some exotic looks
- 15:52Speaker 1: where they'll line up, you know, sometimes eight or nine
- 15:54Speaker 1: guys on the line of scrimmage, drop three or four
- 15:56Speaker 1: back in the coverage. They'll have different blitz is, different
- 15:58Speaker 1: schemes to try to ski him up the young rookie
- 16:00Speaker 1: tackles and things like that, to trying to make sure
- 16:02Speaker 1: everyone's protections on point. So that'll definitely be something to
- 16:05Speaker 1: watch for. But I know between Shane Waldron and Gino Smith,
- 16:09Speaker 1: they're gonna have something for him this week. But something
- 16:11Speaker 1: to keep your eye out on. But Gino Gino MVP.
- 16:15Speaker 1: We've been saying, I mean the crowd change gene, no gene.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It's got to be so for that man. Love to
- 16:20Speaker 1: see it, Love to see it for Gino. The other
- 16:23Speaker 1: matchup on and take a look at is I'm just
- 16:25Speaker 1: gonna say the Cardinals running game for the Seahawks front seven.
- 16:28Speaker 1: The Seahawks have done really well the last couple of weeks,
- 16:31Speaker 1: shutting down Austin Ekeler to nine carries for thirty one
- 16:34Speaker 1: yards in a touchdown. And then see Quon Barkley the
- 16:36Speaker 1: most impressive you know thing I think they've done all
- 16:39Speaker 1: seasons holding him the fifty three yards on twenty carries,
- 16:41Speaker 1: so he was getting the football consistently. To hold him
- 16:44Speaker 1: a guy like that to two point seven yards carry,
- 16:46Speaker 1: that's nuts. So the last couple of weeks, James Connor
- 16:50Speaker 1: has been hurt. He's been out with a rib injury.
- 16:52Speaker 1: He looks like he's still gonna be out. We'll kind
- 16:54Speaker 1: of wait and see. Eno Benjamin has stepped in as
- 16:56Speaker 1: a starting running back the last couple of weeks with
- 16:58Speaker 1: him out, thirty carries, one hundred and fifty one yards
- 17:01Speaker 1: and one touchdown in those three games that Connor has
- 17:04Speaker 1: been out. And this Cardinal's rushing attack is kind of
- 17:07Speaker 1: in the middle of the pack, seventeenth overall in the
- 17:09Speaker 1: NFL one hundred and seventeen yards per game, large part
- 17:12Speaker 1: because Kylin Murray's also helping with the legs. So if
- 17:14Speaker 1: you take away Kyler Murray, this rushing attack is a
- 17:17Speaker 1: lot lower than it is. Benjamin on the season sixty
- 17:21Speaker 1: six carries, two hundred and seven yards and two touchdowns.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So right now, I mean, you just gotta keep doing
- 17:26Speaker 1: what you didn't. You figured out what happened last week.
- 17:28Speaker 1: If you can take away their running game and make
- 17:30Speaker 1: and make Kyler you know he's their best player, but
- 17:33Speaker 1: you want to eliminate something to make them one dimensional,
- 17:35Speaker 1: that's always gonna be a big thing. And I think
- 17:37Speaker 1: it starts with the running game and the way the
- 17:39Speaker 1: Seahawks are playing up front. Right now, I'm very confident
- 17:41Speaker 1: in that. Yeah, I feel good about it. Get Kyler
- 17:44Speaker 1: Murray running up the gut, not towards the sidelines. He's
- 17:47Speaker 1: dangerous on the sidelines. You haven't run up the middle.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You can corral this guy. Next matchup, we're looking at
- 17:53Speaker 1: the receivers verse Torik Wollen and Mike Jackson. I got
- 17:57Speaker 1: to hop Over, there got Rundel, Mora got tight end
- 18:00Speaker 1: zach Ertz. Now the biggest difference between match up and
- 18:03Speaker 1: this when we mentioned it. DeAndre Hopkins is back in
- 18:06Speaker 1: two games. He's been targeted twenty seven times and gone
- 18:08Speaker 1: over one hundred in both these games. Against ten for
- 18:11Speaker 1: one h three Against the Vikings, he had twelve for
- 18:13Speaker 1: one fifty nine and a touchdown. He accounted for four
- 18:17Speaker 1: out of six explosive plays through the air against the Vikings.
- 18:21Speaker 1: You know that he is going to be targeting a
- 18:23Speaker 1: lot man. Since his return in the league, he's had
- 18:26Speaker 1: twenty two receptions, twenty six three yards and thirteen first downs.
- 18:31Speaker 1: He's leading the league. This will be the biggest tess
- 18:33Speaker 1: for Terik and Mike Jackson. These guys have been playing well.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I think they've They've stepped into the test every single week,
- 18:39Speaker 1: but it's a little different tests. Man. This is arguably
- 18:41Speaker 1: the best receiver in the league. I was talking to
- 18:43Speaker 1: somebody today, I go, he can do what Decay can do.
- 18:46Speaker 1: He can do what Cooper Cup can do. He can
- 18:48Speaker 1: do what Justin Jefferson can do. He can do what
- 18:50Speaker 1: DeVante can do. Like you just mash all those guys together.
- 18:53Speaker 1: And you get d hops. You have to respect him
- 18:56Speaker 1: with that question. Yeah, like he his tra record is ridiculous.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So we don't fear nobody, but you gotta respect this
- 19:06Speaker 1: is the NFL. They also got Mark Marquis Brown, Hollywood Brown,
- 19:10Speaker 1: as a lot of people call him. He's got forty
- 19:12Speaker 1: three receptions for forty five and three touchdowns. Now, Zach
- 19:16Speaker 1: Ernst is a I would say he's one of the
- 19:18Speaker 1: elite tight ends in this league. Narrow down, it's about
- 19:22Speaker 1: three or four guys. He's only gonna be mentioned in
- 19:24Speaker 1: one of the elite tight ends. He has forty one
- 19:26Speaker 1: receptions for three fifty four and three touchdowns. He's the
- 19:29Speaker 1: team's second leading receiver. And Rondel Moore is an interesting one.
- 19:33Speaker 1: His numbers aren't gonna volume, but he has big playability
- 19:37Speaker 1: in him. He just hasn't really been unleased. YAF and
- 19:39Speaker 1: let's not make it this week that we see this
- 19:42Speaker 1: guy go nuts. He's got twenty four for two fifty
- 19:45Speaker 1: one and one touchdown. Tell me about these corners though
- 19:48Speaker 1: they already ran down these receivers and what they bring
- 19:51Speaker 1: to the table. W you're the defensive guy. What you
- 19:54Speaker 1: see in in t Woo in the in the gang. Well,
- 19:59Speaker 1: he's been shining. That's all he's done. That's all to
- 20:01Speaker 1: Arrigo and has done since he's been in this league.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And the last couple weeks are exception. He didn't have
- 20:06Speaker 1: any picks, and that's a large part because people aren't
- 20:08Speaker 1: throwing in the football. Woland was targeted four times against
- 20:11Speaker 1: the Giants and allowed two receptions for forty eight yards.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Almost had Honestly, he couldn't have played the ball better
- 20:16Speaker 1: than he did in that game. I couldn't believe down
- 20:18Speaker 1: with a pick, ran the route for the guy. Just
- 20:20Speaker 1: a great play made by I think it was Slayton
- 20:23Speaker 1: for the Giants. And then when he was matched up
- 20:25Speaker 1: against Mike Williams a week before, he's only targeted four
- 20:28Speaker 1: times and gave up three catches for thirty seven yards.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So the few opportunities that he's having is still having success.
- 20:33Speaker 1: As you mentioned, it's gonna be his biggest test of
- 20:36Speaker 1: the season, without question. And then Mike Jackson coming off
- 20:39Speaker 1: his best game of the year in my opinion against
- 20:41Speaker 1: New York seven tackles, three passes defended and was just
- 20:44Speaker 1: playing physical, was just hitting people all over the field.
- 20:47Speaker 1: So these two are gonna have to bring it, like
- 20:48Speaker 1: you said, because DeAndre Hopkins is that dude. You can
- 20:52Speaker 1: talk about his resume for hours. He's very much established.
- 20:56Speaker 1: You mentioned Hollywood Brown. He's gonna be out on Sunday,
- 20:59Speaker 1: so you so More is the guy that I'm really
- 21:03Speaker 1: kind of also concerned about because you said it. Every
- 21:05Speaker 1: time I feel like he plays the Seahawks. He doesn't
- 21:07Speaker 1: get a ton of stats, but he's always open, he's
- 21:10Speaker 1: always making plays. He makes his money in the middle
- 21:12Speaker 1: of the field. I think he's a guy that is
- 21:14Speaker 1: going to really have to step up in Hollywood Brown's absence.
- 21:17Speaker 1: So I'm excited. I'm gonna get my popcorn ready for
- 21:20Speaker 1: this matchup because sometimes you know, when you're watching the
- 21:22Speaker 1: game throughout the game, he was just hone in on
- 21:24Speaker 1: a couple. He's just watching a couple of guys. Those
- 21:26Speaker 1: are that's the matchup I'm definitely gonna hone in on
- 21:28Speaker 1: because Tarik Willin. If you weren't getting all the respect
- 21:32Speaker 1: you've been getting already, you lock up Hopkins or Container.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know what else you can put
- 21:38Speaker 1: on your resume, because that's that's that. Yeah, I got
- 21:41Speaker 1: no words for it, because it's gonna be fun matchups.
- 21:43Speaker 1: So I can't wait to see that. The other receivers
- 21:46Speaker 1: on the Seahawks side, DK Tyler taking on buyer Murphrey
- 21:49Speaker 1: Marco Wilson. I'll throw Bouddha bake in there. From the
- 21:51Speaker 1: secondary standpoint you mentioned it earlier, were talked about on
- 21:54Speaker 1: the last podcast. Tyler Lockett had an interesting game, made
- 21:57Speaker 1: some uncharacteristic plays, but came back for the game. You know,
- 22:01Speaker 1: go ahead touchdown, five receptions sixty three yards. Metcalf also
- 22:05Speaker 1: made some big time contributions five receptions fifty five yards
- 22:08Speaker 1: in a touchdown. And if you guys remember, these guys
- 22:10Speaker 1: were game time decisions, didn't practice all week, got through it,
- 22:13Speaker 1: made it to game time, and still did some good
- 22:15Speaker 1: things there. But I would expect Tyler and those guys
- 22:20Speaker 1: to go off this week. Tyler, notoriously, he's a good
- 22:22Speaker 1: games against the Cardinals. We remember that one game on
- 22:25Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football, we had two hundred and twenty yards.
- 22:27Speaker 1: He's got multiple games over one hundred yards and coming
- 22:31Speaker 1: off the game where he didn't play his best danger
- 22:33Speaker 1: watch out because the motivated Tyler Hockey's trying to get
- 22:36Speaker 1: after you. That's a problem. And the last time they
- 22:38Speaker 1: played these guys, they only combined for four receptions and
- 22:41Speaker 1: fifty one yards. So it's gonna be it'll be a
- 22:44Speaker 1: test that Cardinals do have some good defensive bats. Bodha, Baker, Buyer, Murphy,
- 22:48Speaker 1: Mark Wilson are all good players. But I am predicting
- 22:52Speaker 1: at least between them, Bump, I'm predicting over a Buck
- 22:57Speaker 1: seventy five, at least Bucks setting five. And with that,
- 23:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Buck setting five and three Teddies. Come on, now,
- 23:07Speaker 1: come on now, Yeah, you gotta respect Boodhin, Buyer, Murphy, Marco.
- 23:10Speaker 1: These all professionals. They've shown that they can make plays.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But we got professionals on our side in DK and Tyler.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Let's get her going, all right. Next matchup is Ken
- 23:20Speaker 1: Walker versus the Cardinals front seven. Ken didn't do a
- 23:24Speaker 1: lot the last game, right, fifty one yards on eighteen carries,
- 23:27Speaker 1: but he had the game seiling touchdown. And again this
- 23:30Speaker 1: is where stats can fool you. I say he didn't
- 23:32Speaker 1: do a lot, but you know that the Giants accounted
- 23:36Speaker 1: for him, Like there are a couple runs where he
- 23:38Speaker 1: was one block away, one miss tackle away for breaking
- 23:41Speaker 1: one of those signature thirty forty yard runs. So far
- 23:44Speaker 1: this year, he's got four hundred and sixty one yards
- 23:46Speaker 1: and five touchdowns, and the Hawks have the twelfth best
- 23:48Speaker 1: rushing attack, getting about a buck thirty per game. This
- 23:53Speaker 1: week will not be easy. The Cardinals have a talented
- 23:56Speaker 1: front seven, but I feel really good about it. Man.
- 23:59Speaker 1: They have the fifth as rush defense in the NFL
- 24:01Speaker 1: as well. Now. In the last three weeks, they gave
- 24:04Speaker 1: a one seventy three to Minnesota, eighty five to New Orleans,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and one thirty six to the Seahawks. I need them
- 24:12Speaker 1: to repeat the performance that we saw in New Orleans Saints. Right,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but we're gonna we're gonna take advantage of the scene.
- 24:19Speaker 1: We're gonna be in the driver's seat and hand they
- 24:21Speaker 1: had ball to Kim Walker. You know what, I'm gonna
- 24:22Speaker 1: throw d DJ Dallas in this too, because he's good
- 24:26Speaker 1: for one or two runs a game. That's gonna break
- 24:28Speaker 1: for about ten to twelve yards, right Ken Walker's gonna
- 24:31Speaker 1: tap the hamlet. He's gonna need a break. They'll be
- 24:33Speaker 1: good to go. So U with all that being said,
- 24:35Speaker 1: what they did against Minnesota and New Orleans and the Seahawks,
- 24:38Speaker 1: they dropped them to the seventeenth rush defense in the league.
- 24:42Speaker 1: So if they played good at times, they've given up
- 24:44Speaker 1: a bunch of yards. Again, they've been going up and
- 24:46Speaker 1: down with the numbers. But I think it's more what
- 24:48Speaker 1: the Seahawks can do than what the Cardinals are gonna
- 24:50Speaker 1: do to the Hawks. I think with that offensive line,
- 24:53Speaker 1: with ken Walker beating in the zone and with a
- 24:55Speaker 1: sprinkle of DJ Dallas, I'm feeling good about the run game.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I love what you mentioned there, because you're right, he
- 25:00Speaker 1: did only have fifty three yards or fifty one yards.
- 25:02Speaker 1: They're looking at box score. That's not gonna electrify anybody,
- 25:06Speaker 1: but you're right. There's a couple of shoe string tackles,
- 25:08Speaker 1: a couple of ones that was like, oh my god.
- 25:10Speaker 1: He was almost out the gate for that. So against
- 25:12Speaker 1: the Giants last week. So now going against the Cardinals
- 25:14Speaker 1: we had success against last time they played a couple
- 25:17Speaker 1: of weeks ago. I'd expect him to do a lot
- 25:19Speaker 1: of the same because ken Walker is special and I'm
- 25:21Speaker 1: hoping he's one of those games with Seawks get up
- 25:23Speaker 1: early and ken Walker can do his thing in second half,
- 25:26Speaker 1: get up to twenty carries, can grind these guys down,
- 25:29Speaker 1: possessed the ball, control the clock, and that'll help them
- 25:32Speaker 1: get a dub and stay in the first place. But
- 25:34Speaker 1: all we're talking about a victory, Let's find out how
- 25:37Speaker 1: we get there path to victory. At the forty five
- 25:41Speaker 1: waits for the staff, Michael Dickson puts it down. That
- 25:44Speaker 1: kick is away and that kick gone. It's gun. It's
- 25:50Speaker 1: a pass to victory. On Hawk Talk, keep riding that momentum,
- 25:54Speaker 1: Ray Roberts, if you're listening, I know you hate that word,
- 25:56Speaker 1: but it's true to the seas got that momentum right now,
- 25:59Speaker 1: and to keep riding that thing. They played two consecutive
- 26:01Speaker 1: incredibly complete games all three phases the game, offense, defense,
- 26:04Speaker 1: special teams. This week can't be any different. I think
- 26:07Speaker 1: they'll need that and if they continue that, this could
- 26:09Speaker 1: be a good win for the Seahawks. Right bad wave
- 26:13Speaker 1: and contain Coy. Murray had one big run of forty
- 26:16Speaker 1: two yards the last time they hooked up. No big ones,
- 26:19Speaker 1: get five, you get ten every now and then. But
- 26:21Speaker 1: making him work for it. I want to see him sliding.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I want to see him trying to get down because
- 26:25Speaker 1: they got eleven helmets going to that dude, and then,
- 26:28Speaker 1: of course you gotta contain DeAndre Hopkins. He's been targeted
- 26:32Speaker 1: with over twenty five times of legals twenty seven times
- 26:34Speaker 1: in the last two games, over one hundred both games.
- 26:38Speaker 1: You gotta make sure that guy doesn't go crazy, no
- 26:40Speaker 1: question about it. He's scary when he does. And then offensively, man,
- 26:43Speaker 1: come on, Geno's doing it, MVP. We've been saying it,
- 26:47Speaker 1: We've been talking him up all season long. Continue to
- 26:50Speaker 1: do him and Shane Waldron have been there bad the
- 26:51Speaker 1: last couple of weeks. It's straight up. They're doing everything
- 26:54Speaker 1: to keep this offense on time. There's no delay of
- 26:58Speaker 1: game penalties, there's there's a lot of fall starts. They're efficient.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Everything that's going on with is efficient. If they continue
- 27:04Speaker 1: to do that, continue to plant a high level, that
- 27:06Speaker 1: will help them continue to score points. We know that
- 27:08Speaker 1: Cardinals give up a lot of points. Seahawks score a
- 27:10Speaker 1: lot of points, so that should be good. And the
- 27:12Speaker 1: other thing I want to see bump project Gino. I
- 27:15Speaker 1: think the Cardinals ran some different things that Charles Cross
- 27:18Speaker 1: and a Luke and some of these guys had not
- 27:20Speaker 1: seen before. And I expect the Seahawks to be much
- 27:22Speaker 1: more prepared for that in this game. And as long
- 27:25Speaker 1: as you keep Gino Smith upright and control that line
- 27:27Speaker 1: of scrimmage, I think things will be good for the Seahawks. Yeah,
- 27:31Speaker 1: you got to protect that man, the Arizona Cardinals. But
- 27:34Speaker 1: its thirty seven percent of the time, that's the second
- 27:36Speaker 1: most in the NFL. So you know you're gonna get
- 27:39Speaker 1: some looks. You know you're gonna be tested office online.
- 27:41Speaker 1: You know you have to communicate. If you can do
- 27:44Speaker 1: all the things we just mentioned, then I think these
- 27:46Speaker 1: guys walk out of here six and three getting ready
- 27:49Speaker 1: to go to Germany on the W and then I'm
- 27:52Speaker 1: all four depp, oh, I can't wait. They're six and
- 27:55Speaker 1: three going in with an opportunity to be seven three
- 27:57Speaker 1: heading into the buy. Don't want to get ahead of myself,
- 28:00Speaker 1: but no one saw that coming and that completely changes
- 28:03Speaker 1: the outlook for the Seahawks on the second half of
- 28:05Speaker 1: the season. And Pump, we're about to be in Germany. Dog,
- 28:09Speaker 1: come on now, about to be alright? You know what
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'm saying. We'll be back here next week for hopefully
- 28:14Speaker 1: to discussing a Seahawks victory over the Cardinals on Monday.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Then will we chat with you guys from Munich, Germany.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Guten tags to all the German listeners out there. We
- 28:23Speaker 1: cannot wait to be down there in Germany. Reminder, you
- 28:26Speaker 1: can hear us everywhere seahawks dot Com, Apple Podcast, Spotify,
- 28:29Speaker 1: sit Your Serious, XM and more. He's my uncle, bumpas
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm NASA Chovie. This has been Hawk Talk the preview.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Hopefully Seahawks and take down the Cardinals on Sunday. We'll
- 28:38Speaker 1: be there and we will talk to you soon
