- 0:07Speaker 1: Yo, it's your girl Jessica and Smith, and you already
- 0:10Speaker 1: know that you've entered the safe space for influencers to decompress,
- 0:14Speaker 1: have fun and just ask.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Do you already know what it is?
- 0:19Speaker 1: And then you know it's about to get real, So
- 0:22Speaker 1: be sure to show your girl the love and like,
- 0:26Speaker 1: come in and subscribe God.
- 0:27Speaker 3: For another day. Hey, hey, I know we could be
- 0:33Speaker 3: another way, y'all.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I gotta say this. Omar is over here dropping game.
- 0:44Speaker 2: We just shot an entire conversation that you get to see,
- 0:50Speaker 2: all right, and I'll make sure in the description you
- 0:52Speaker 2: know how to see it. But he is dropping so
- 0:56Speaker 2: many gems. If you don't know who Amar is, he
- 0:58Speaker 2: is a phenomenal content strategist, content coach. He just knows
- 1:03Speaker 2: his stuff. And I've said this before, I'm a fan
- 1:07Speaker 2: because of his faith and trust in God. But we're
- 1:09Speaker 2: about to get into this content to cash strategy. I
- 1:13Speaker 2: know you offer this. What is it once a month
- 1:16Speaker 2: for five days?
- 1:17Speaker 4: Is it it kind of like once a quarter.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Once a Oh okay, so was once a quarter? Can
- 1:20Speaker 2: you tell us about the content to cash challenge?
- 1:23Speaker 4: Yeah? This I like to call it like a five
- 1:25Speaker 4: day coaching experience and it's really a environment where you
- 1:30Speaker 4: can experience breakthrough from taking action that you might know
- 1:34Speaker 4: you should be taking, and it creates an environment where
- 1:36Speaker 4: other people are taking action with you and it's just
- 1:39Speaker 4: a beautiful thing. And you'll learn how to you know,
- 1:42Speaker 4: find your voice, know who you're trying to reach, and
- 1:45Speaker 4: then how that actually makes money in the five days.
- 1:48Speaker 4: And it's honestly, I don't know if there's any experience
- 1:51Speaker 4: like it. I don't sell courses. I don't sell pre
- 1:54Speaker 4: recorded courses. It's a live experience happening virtually on Zoom
- 1:59Speaker 4: and so yeah, that's the Content to Cast challenge.
- 2:01Speaker 2: What's been your biggest win from the Content to Cast Challenge.
- 2:05Speaker 4: I think it's being able to coach people at scale.
- 2:09Speaker 4: So as someone who loves coaching and has a heart
- 2:13Speaker 4: to coach as many people as I can, but I
- 2:15Speaker 4: also understand the reality of my limitations of how I
- 2:19Speaker 4: can't do that. The Content to Cash Challenge provides a space,
- 2:24Speaker 4: and I would say in the last year and a half,
- 2:28Speaker 4: I've coached over a thousand people through this five day experience,
- 2:32Speaker 4: and so that's probably been the best thing about it.
- 2:35Speaker 4: And just it's like, as a strategy wise, for my business. Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 4: it's built. It's built trust at super scale. Yeah, I know.
- 2:45Speaker 4: My content does help and it builds a relationship, but
- 2:47Speaker 4: it's one way. But because the challenge is back and
- 2:50Speaker 4: forth and there's Q and A and there's community, it's
- 2:54Speaker 4: like a trust accelerator. And in the game of business,
- 2:58Speaker 4: everything fall down from trucks. So you don't have to
- 3:04Speaker 4: sell hard. When people trust you, they already know who
- 3:08Speaker 4: you are.
- 3:09Speaker 2: You know, so you've used the word several times. Did
- 3:12Speaker 2: the words scale? That's what I've been hearing. How does
- 3:16Speaker 2: someone know what's scalable? Because I know it's like we
- 3:21Speaker 2: just do stuff, We just throw things out there. How
- 3:23Speaker 2: do we know if this thing is scalable and if
- 3:26Speaker 2: it's not, how do we pivot?
- 3:28Speaker 4: I think I think from what I'm based on that question,
- 3:35Speaker 4: I truly believe everything or anything could scale. Sometimes things
- 3:45Speaker 4: don't scale because you're not being intentional with it. And
- 3:52Speaker 4: so if you're being consistent but not intentionally consistent, and
- 3:56Speaker 4: maybe you want to scale your YouTube channel or scale
- 3:59Speaker 4: your business, well there's something in the way of you
- 4:04Speaker 4: not experience that that thing. But if you're just dabbling,
- 4:08Speaker 4: it's kind of hard to see what that thing is. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 4: but when you're showing up consistently and you're testing and
- 4:13Speaker 4: you're improving, you'll start to see like, oh, this is
- 4:16Speaker 4: where we went wrong. Oh nobody showed up to the
- 4:18Speaker 4: web class because we only had them sign up, but
- 4:22Speaker 4: we didn't remind them. Okay, next time, we're going to
- 4:25Speaker 4: remind them. Uh, you know why didn't anybody buy? Oh
- 4:29Speaker 4: no one bought because I was yapp in for an
- 4:33Speaker 4: hour and they left the call. Like you start, you
- 4:37Speaker 4: start getting insight as to why things aren't working. And literally,
- 4:41Speaker 4: at every level, business is a game of problem solving. Yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 4: and we're always just trying to solve problems, right, and
- 4:47Speaker 4: it never ends. So I mean, yeah, my thing is,
- 4:51Speaker 4: I don't know if pivoting is ever the answer now,
- 4:56Speaker 4: and I know pivot has multiple meanings. Yeah, people change
- 5:01Speaker 4: things too soon before even getting awareness of what's not working.
- 5:05Speaker 2: So I'm so glad that you're given from people. It's
- 5:07Speaker 2: almost like tee. You also encouraging people to trust what
- 5:11Speaker 2: they've decided on, because it's like sometimes we're indecisive because
- 5:15Speaker 2: we'll watch other content creators do certain things like what's
- 5:19Speaker 2: the biggest mishap or misconception of the content creator.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Well, the word is you have a misconception of who
- 5:29Speaker 4: you're trying to copy. Like you see somebody else doing something,
- 5:35Speaker 4: but you don't know why they do it that way.
- 5:37Speaker 4: You don't know how that's serving their deeper need or
- 5:42Speaker 4: the or you don't know how that thing that they're
- 5:43Speaker 4: doing or why that thing that what they're doing is
- 5:46Speaker 4: serving the thing they decided on. So I'm a firm
- 5:50Speaker 4: believer that whatever you decide on and you work it
- 5:53Speaker 4: will work. It will And does it mean that you
- 5:57Speaker 4: won't tweak it along the way? Of course you will, Yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 4: because you've decided, you know. That's why I think what's
- 6:03Speaker 4: funny is like when you see somebody else, which, by
- 6:05Speaker 4: the way, it's okay to gain inspiration, I think it's
- 6:08Speaker 4: just before you implement what inspires you, you should unpack
- 6:13Speaker 4: why and how this works for your context. Right, So,
- 6:20Speaker 4: and that's why I love teaching principle based stuff as
- 6:22Speaker 4: opposed to like, just do this. I know sometimes people
- 6:25Speaker 4: need to just do this, but for the most part, no,
- 6:27Speaker 4: you just need to know the principles of how to
- 6:29Speaker 4: be successful. But I really started winning when I chose
- 6:34Speaker 4: the one platform to focus on. Yeah, when I chose
- 6:37Speaker 4: the one link to put in the description, and then
- 6:40Speaker 4: when I had the one offer to give, and that's literally,
- 6:45Speaker 4: that's literally all I did.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Man, I'm so glad that you brought that up, because
- 6:49Speaker 2: I think sometimes that people always tell us put it everywhere.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Your audience is different places, and I want to get
- 6:57Speaker 2: let's get into your one platform which is used to
- 6:59Speaker 2: right you, you mainly focus on YouTube. So if I'm
- 7:03Speaker 2: trying to cultivate my YouTube audience as a beginner, a
- 7:08Speaker 2: beginner in long form content, what are the three things,
- 7:11Speaker 2: the three steps that you are just like hit on
- 7:14Speaker 2: about to make sure that meat as a beginner can
- 7:17Speaker 2: be successful as a YouTuber.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Yeah, if you're a beginner at YouTube, I would say
- 7:24Speaker 4: upload your first ten to twenty videos unedited. So if
- 7:31Speaker 4: editing is an obstacle, and it is for everybody, yeah,
- 7:35Speaker 4: especially if you're a beginner, don't edit. And let me
- 7:38Speaker 4: tell you why, because it's gonna make you really good.
- 7:41Speaker 4: When you film a video knowing it's going to be edited,
- 7:45Speaker 4: your delivery is not natural because you know it's going
- 7:51Speaker 4: to be edited. It's right, like when you mess up,
- 7:53Speaker 4: you'll stop and you'll start over. If you know it,
- 7:56Speaker 4: it's not going to be edited. Like a life presentation,
- 7:59Speaker 4: you can start over. In a live presentation, you have
- 8:01Speaker 4: to keep it rolling. Right If I sneeze on stage,
- 8:05Speaker 4: someone's gonna say bless you, and then I'm gonna keep
- 8:07Speaker 4: it rolling. Yeah. I think that is like a big
- 8:12Speaker 4: unlock because everybody's waiting to have the perfect upload or
- 8:15Speaker 4: like the polished edit, when all that doesn't matter, like
- 8:19Speaker 4: the beginning stages of a YouTube journey is more about
- 8:23Speaker 4: your your personal development as a communicator as somebody who
- 8:26Speaker 4: delivers a concept or shares some insight and how you
- 8:31Speaker 4: choose to do that, and discovering your voice, yeah, and
- 8:34Speaker 4: discovering your content preferred content format. Like sometimes not everyone
- 8:38Speaker 4: should have a podcast. Some people should should do vlog style.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Not everyone should do vlog style. Some people should do
- 8:46Speaker 4: live streaming. Not everyone should do live streaming. Some people
- 8:48Speaker 4: should do talking it. So I think that is just
- 8:52Speaker 4: like make your first couple dozen videos unedited and then
- 9:00Speaker 4: look at the at the data. So like if you've
- 9:03Speaker 4: uploaded ten videos, you should you you should get a
- 9:07Speaker 4: sense of like what is kind of working? I think too,
- 9:11Speaker 4: you know, so that so number one is just upload
- 9:13Speaker 4: unedited videos. Number two is just to to look at
- 9:16Speaker 4: the data. You look at your data, but also look
- 9:19Speaker 4: on YouTube's data. I actually think you're making it harder
- 9:24Speaker 4: to grow on YouTube if you yourself are not a
- 9:27Speaker 4: consumer of YouTube, right right, Like, So the more you
- 9:32Speaker 4: understand the platform, the easier it is to be on
- 9:34Speaker 4: it as you're as a contributor. The issue is is
- 9:37Speaker 4: people just want a big YouTube channel, but they don't
- 9:41Speaker 4: even know. They don't even click on videos, right, Like,
- 9:45Speaker 4: I go home, I watch YouTube TV. I don't. I
- 9:47Speaker 4: don't do Hulu. I don't do Netflix. And it's not
- 9:49Speaker 4: because I'm special, It's because I genuinely like YouTube. Yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 4: And then it serves me because as I click on
- 9:55Speaker 4: a video, I get to internalize why did I click
- 9:59Speaker 4: on it video? And I'm and I'm creating cases and
- 10:03Speaker 4: I'm creating insight on why I clicked videos. Yeah, and
- 10:09Speaker 4: and that over time, like my history on YouTube is
- 10:12Speaker 4: its own masterclass on YouTube. If I just go to
- 10:16Speaker 4: my history and I look, it's going to give me
- 10:20Speaker 4: insight on packaging. So so upload unedited videos, be a
- 10:26Speaker 4: consumer of the platform, and then the last thing is
- 10:29Speaker 4: to commit long term. Everyone winning on YouTube. They didn't.
- 10:35Speaker 4: They're not no one's winning on YouTube trying to launch
- 10:38Speaker 4: their YouTube channel. People who are winning on YouTube don't
- 10:43Speaker 4: have an end in mind. So it's actually the reverse.
- 10:48Speaker 4: People I know that are later older who started a
- 10:51Speaker 4: YouTube channel because they see the power of it. They
- 10:56Speaker 4: don't have an outcome goal. It's a tie for the
- 11:01Speaker 4: next ten years. I'm going to be consistent on this platform, boom.
- 11:06Speaker 4: So even my strategy is I'm going to upload a
- 11:10Speaker 4: podcast a week until Jesus comes back. Yes, Like, that's
- 11:13Speaker 4: literally my YouTube strategy. So from that standpoint, those are
- 11:20Speaker 4: the three things I would have you focus on.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I love that. I want to kind of go back
- 11:24Speaker 2: to the data part because I seen you post something
- 11:26Speaker 2: the other day regarding like and I think it was
- 11:30Speaker 2: somebody about somebody for people not doing like masterminds all
- 11:35Speaker 2: these webinars because hundreds of people are not coming you
- 11:38Speaker 2: only have five or whatever. But you spoke towards the data.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I think data because number wise, it's kind of intimidating
- 11:47Speaker 2: for people because everybody doesn't understand numbers. So how would
- 11:49Speaker 2: you simplify YouTube's data specifically and what we should look.
- 11:53Speaker 4: For, oh, we should be looking for on YouTube? I
- 11:55Speaker 4: think you should be looking for when you go in
- 12:00Speaker 4: the back end of YouTube studio, you could see the
- 12:03Speaker 4: click through rate and the average view duration. If you
- 12:08Speaker 4: upload a thirty minute video on YouTube and you get
- 12:12Speaker 4: forty views, that's great because right now there's not even
- 12:19Speaker 4: forty people here, so if there was, it would be
- 12:21Speaker 4: a whole nother dynamic. But if I got forty views
- 12:25Speaker 4: on a YouTube video, YouTube is going to give me
- 12:28Speaker 4: the click through rate, which means out of everyone who
- 12:30Speaker 4: sees this video, the percentage of people that click on it.
- 12:34Speaker 4: If that percentage is one percent or two percent, that
- 12:38Speaker 4: just means no one's clicking on your videos. So how
- 12:41Speaker 4: do you get people to click on your videos? The
- 12:43Speaker 4: titles and the thumbnail. This is why I think the
- 12:46Speaker 4: skill of packaging is the most underrated skill of creators
- 12:51Speaker 4: because they're focusing on making really good videos. When YouTube
- 12:55Speaker 4: isn't a video platform, it's a packaging platform. So when
- 12:59Speaker 4: we're making all putting all our energy and effort into
- 13:01Speaker 4: the video, we actually should be putting most of our
- 13:04Speaker 4: energy into the title, the thumbnail in the first thirty seconds,
- 13:08Speaker 4: so that's clip through rate and then average uturation. So
- 13:12Speaker 4: you're telling me you're telling me YouTube that forty people
- 13:15Speaker 4: clicked on this video and people are only watching a
- 13:18Speaker 4: minute on average. Okay, that means that whatever you're doing
- 13:23Speaker 4: in the beginning of your video is not giving people
- 13:26Speaker 4: a reason to stay and watch more of it. Now,
- 13:28Speaker 4: your average duration will always be shorter than the video itself. Right,
- 13:34Speaker 4: most people, majority of people that watch your YouTube videos
- 13:38Speaker 4: aren't watching all of the video. Right, That's fine. That's
- 13:41Speaker 4: why I love uploading very long videos. Yeah, because if
- 13:43Speaker 4: I upload very long videos, that number is more like
- 13:47Speaker 4: fifteen twenty five minutes. If I upload a twenty five
- 13:50Speaker 4: minute video, that number is more like three to seven minutes.
- 13:53Speaker 4: So it's just you know, ratio. So those are the
- 13:57Speaker 4: two things. Clip through rate and average uderation. Those are
- 14:00Speaker 4: things that should tell you. So if you have good ones,
- 14:03Speaker 4: like if they're green, that's telling you that, like the
- 14:07Speaker 4: topic is pretty good, the way you package it's pretty good,
- 14:10Speaker 4: and then also the way you started it is pretty good.
- 14:12Speaker 2: That's so good. I love. I love that we're on
- 14:15Speaker 2: this YouTube thing because one so I was talking to
- 14:18Speaker 2: Dave in the morning meet up one day and I
- 14:21Speaker 2: was like, I don't know, I said, I don't know
- 14:24Speaker 2: if I should do shorts anymore. I was leaning on
- 14:26Speaker 2: Omar because he said he didn't do shorts because he
- 14:28Speaker 2: wants people's duration, like to train people that he does
- 14:32Speaker 2: long form content. So I was going with what you said,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and I was like, I don't think this is working.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I don't know. So I started trying the shorts and
- 14:39Speaker 2: it seems like I'm having better conversion. So how do
- 14:42Speaker 2: you know, like with your tactic, like why is it
- 14:44Speaker 2: working for you? Like I just want to know, like
- 14:48Speaker 2: cause it wasn't working for me just not doing shorts.
- 14:50Speaker 2: But I feel like I agree with what you said,
- 14:53Speaker 2: like shorts almost hurt a little bit because I don't
- 14:56Speaker 2: want think people to think that they're gonna get anything
- 14:58Speaker 2: short form from me because I'm along with it. Hm.
- 15:01Speaker 4: No, yeah, I think the reason it works for me
- 15:04Speaker 4: is because I'm obsessed with the viewer experience, and I
- 15:07Speaker 4: don't think people are willing to be as obsessed as
- 15:09Speaker 4: I am.
- 15:09Speaker 2: What does it look like?
- 15:10Speaker 4: That looks like if you clicked on this video or
- 15:14Speaker 4: podcast that you're getting, you're gonna get what you clicked for.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Like that's what I mean. Now everyone thinks they're giving
- 15:21Speaker 4: what people what they right, right, But to the first podcast.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna let you in on exactly what
- 15:28Speaker 4: my brain was doing when you started the last podcast. Like,
- 15:33Speaker 4: if I clicked on this video based on how you
- 15:35Speaker 4: title it, what would you think. You'd probably titled the
- 15:37Speaker 4: last episode two of.
- 15:39Speaker 2: This something in dealing with faith or grace.
- 15:45Speaker 4: So let's just let's just say that episode could be
- 15:48Speaker 4: called something like advice for Christian CEOs or advice for
- 15:53Speaker 4: believers in business or something like that. And you started
- 15:57Speaker 4: your podcast and you guys, your little show thing, and
- 16:02Speaker 4: like it took a few minutes to start getting into
- 16:06Speaker 4: that conversation, and so that what was happening in my
- 16:10Speaker 4: brain was people already it clicked off. And that's only
- 16:17Speaker 4: that's me. I mean, the reason why it works for
- 16:21Speaker 4: me is because maybe I have an intuition to know that.
- 16:25Speaker 4: And it's also just thinking about the viewer, Like I'm
- 16:28Speaker 4: I'm obsessed with the viewers experience. If you clicked on
- 16:30Speaker 4: this video because it was advice for CEO entrepreneurs that
- 16:36Speaker 4: are believers, and like, if that's the packaging and that's
- 16:38Speaker 4: who it's for, then we need to go right into
- 16:43Speaker 4: so it would be, hey, are you in business? And
- 16:47Speaker 4: a believer. And that's why I like to I like
- 16:50Speaker 4: to start YouTube videos with enrolling questions because then it
- 16:53Speaker 4: affirms the right person. Are you a bit a believer
- 16:56Speaker 4: who's in business and you're wondering if you know you're
- 16:59Speaker 4: doing at God's way? While I'm so excited because I
- 17:02Speaker 4: have somebody I know that does it really well. But
- 17:04Speaker 4: why do believers get it wrong in business? Like like
- 17:09Speaker 4: let's give let's eat lady immediately. Yeah, and I think
- 17:12Speaker 4: we did it. I mean, you did it better this,
- 17:14Speaker 4: this one, this one's this one's awesome. And but that's why.
- 17:18Speaker 4: So I actually think back to your short You know,
- 17:20Speaker 4: situation is most of the time for most people short
- 17:25Speaker 4: you're doing long form so you can get short form
- 17:29Speaker 4: and and that's why short form is working. But this this,
- 17:33Speaker 4: the system is fine. Though, the system is fine. To that,
- 17:36Speaker 4: do a long form with minimal strategy and just make
- 17:40Speaker 4: sure your short form is super potent. Yeah right, Like
- 17:44Speaker 4: those clips make sense. Those clips aren't random. However, I
- 17:49Speaker 4: as a as a as a business minded person, my
- 17:53Speaker 4: goal is time spent on brand.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 4: I want people to know this face, I want people
- 17:58Speaker 4: to know my voice. I want people to feel like
- 17:59Speaker 4: they know me, right, And that's that's hard. It's not
- 18:02Speaker 4: that it's not it's impossible. It's just harder to do
- 18:06Speaker 4: with short, firm content.
- 18:07Speaker 2: So this is this is a question based upon your
- 18:10Speaker 2: your feedback, and I appreciate it didn't offend me at all, because.
- 18:13Speaker 4: I know everyone does that. Like even even sometimes when
- 18:17Speaker 4: I have a guest, they project they project it because
- 18:20Speaker 4: because I'll be like, hey, so why, why how did
- 18:23Speaker 4: you do this or what's what got you into this? Yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 4: and they'll be like, let me let me let you
- 18:28Speaker 4: in on a little bit about my backstory. I'm like, no,
- 18:30Speaker 4: that's something I asked. Yeah, I asked you give me
- 18:33Speaker 4: some insight real quick, because I strategically, as the interviewer,
- 18:36Speaker 4: I want this to go as I want this, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 4: to go out there right and and so literally i'll
- 18:42Speaker 4: have to edit it. I'm going to edit it out
- 18:43Speaker 4: because I care about it that much. People don't click
- 18:46Speaker 4: on the videos because of my story. People click on
- 18:50Speaker 4: the videos because of their problems.
- 18:52Speaker 2: But go ahead, No, no, that's that's good. So my
- 18:55Speaker 2: question is how do I bounce rhythms?
- 18:59Speaker 4: Find the rhythm I balance in this case, Yeah, so.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Balance out being the energetic me and having it because
- 19:08Speaker 2: they love the Desertray song, they love the community highlight.
- 19:13Speaker 2: How do I construct that still finding my balance but
- 19:17Speaker 2: also being like, Okay, let me get straight to the
- 19:19Speaker 2: to the point.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Is you move that moment either to in the middle
- 19:24Speaker 4: or the end. Okay, That's how I would do it. Okay,
- 19:27Speaker 4: because I would even argue that although the people that
- 19:31Speaker 4: love you love that, it's almost like this, I'm grateful
- 19:36Speaker 4: that you're a part of the department family, but we're
- 19:39Speaker 4: always out to get more people in the department family.
- 19:42Speaker 2: So so I don't need to think about the people
- 19:45Speaker 2: that are in I need didn't think about it, oh
- 19:46Speaker 2: with that or not. And they're not there for the
- 19:48Speaker 2: Desiree song.
- 19:50Speaker 4: They're there because of who you are. They're they're there
- 19:54Speaker 4: because because they love you and they love what you
- 19:56Speaker 4: guys are doing. Yeah, So like I also want to
- 19:58Speaker 4: let you know, like they're not there because of the song. Yeah,
- 20:01Speaker 4: they're not gonna be like, where's the song at? And
- 20:02Speaker 4: even if they were, that's a very small group of
- 20:04Speaker 4: people because you're going to be growing the podcast. So
- 20:07Speaker 4: I was on a podcast a little bit ago, and
- 20:10Speaker 4: these guys they like starting their podcast opening up a
- 20:13Speaker 4: can like a soda can, yeah, by like like a drink,
- 20:17Speaker 4: and their thing is like opening it one handed and
- 20:21Speaker 4: then that you don't dent the can. Yeah, so it's
- 20:24Speaker 4: like click clack and then if you like show like, hey,
- 20:27Speaker 4: is there any debts and dents and then they'll like
- 20:30Speaker 4: rate it. That's literally how they started their podcasts, which
- 20:33Speaker 4: is fine. But what's funny is I saw because I
- 20:36Speaker 4: you know, I followed them after the fact and the
- 20:38Speaker 4: podcast did really well that we did together. However, he
- 20:42Speaker 4: was like, hey, guys, we're moving that portion of the
- 20:47Speaker 4: podcast toward the middle of the podcast because we don't
- 20:51Speaker 4: want people coming for a certain reason. And then they
- 20:54Speaker 4: just see a bunch of guys turn.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Open up a you know, a Lacroix and then drink
- 21:00Speaker 5: like yeah, so so I mean and that I mean
- 21:03Speaker 5: that that clipped for them, I don't know, eighty episodes in,
- 21:07Speaker 5: you know, they realize like, oh, we don't need to
- 21:10Speaker 5: do that segment rightning, let's just move it, and you
- 21:14Speaker 5: know it could be a good like icebreaker too, or
- 21:16Speaker 5: a re engagement thing.
- 21:18Speaker 4: You know, hey, this is the portion of the show
- 21:20Speaker 4: and if it then you know, like it would actually
- 21:22Speaker 4: re engage people to put it later. And then yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 4: and then something I've been doing recently just testing is
- 21:28Speaker 4: at the end of my podcasts, I'll say, hey, if
- 21:31Speaker 4: you're still watching, if you're still listening, I appreciate you.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Can you DM me on Instagram and just say I
- 21:37Speaker 4: watched the whole thing, or I listened to the whole thing.
- 21:39Speaker 4: I just want to and then people are doing it.
- 21:41Speaker 4: It's so cool. So I like that.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I like that we don't desire you won't get your
- 21:45Speaker 2: song in the beginning. He but it No, this is
- 21:51Speaker 2: this is really good and strategic and I think that also.
- 21:54Speaker 2: All right, So this was something I wanted to ask
- 21:56Speaker 2: you on our pot too. But so with me being
- 22:01Speaker 2: faith based and very vocal about being faith based, and
- 22:06Speaker 2: she mentioned that the Holy you know, I use Holy
- 22:09Speaker 2: Spirit like for my answer my questions and stuff like
- 22:11Speaker 2: that in the beginning, your advice about okay, starting with
- 22:14Speaker 2: the questions. Sometimes I'm not the the conversation goes somewhere else.
- 22:21Speaker 2: But how would you still knowing Holy Spirit balanced that
- 22:25Speaker 2: with strategic conversation.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Yeah, no, that's great. I don't I mean one is like,
- 22:33Speaker 4: I don't think I don't think the Holy spirit's ever random,
- 22:36Speaker 4: So like, yeah, I don't want to. I don't want
- 22:38Speaker 4: that to be a I don't want to let that
- 22:40Speaker 4: be a permission to be random and confuse someone like man,
- 22:44Speaker 4: I thought I was here for this, Like, so, so
- 22:49Speaker 4: my thing is you as the host, right, you have
- 22:53Speaker 4: to hold the line, so like and like you know,
- 22:59Speaker 4: you may that like something about Grace, like you know,
- 23:02Speaker 4: like that maybe the second episode something about Grace. In
- 23:04Speaker 4: my in my mind, I think Grace is the answer
- 23:07Speaker 4: to being a potential, you know, to being an entrepreneur.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Who's the CEO. Yeah, that's a believer. And so I
- 23:14Speaker 4: wouldn't make it about Grace because Grace could be misleading Grace.
- 23:18Speaker 4: No one knows Grace, like I mean, most people don't.
- 23:20Speaker 4: We're CHURCHI you know, we talk differently. Yeah, but but
- 23:26Speaker 4: I I still hold the line and then I get
- 23:29Speaker 4: loose at the end.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Okay, so hold the line at the beginning. So mortion
- 23:33Speaker 2: structure more. Let's get to it. Let's go at least
- 23:37Speaker 2: have my first one or two questions, like I like,
- 23:41Speaker 2: I like it, and I'm gonna do that and I'm
- 23:43Speaker 2: gonna try it, and then I'm gonna tell you, Yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 2: how it.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Is well, it's and I because I like to think
- 23:48Speaker 4: of my my conversations like a course, so based on
- 23:52Speaker 4: the overarching thing that when you click on this conversation,
- 23:55Speaker 4: it's as if you were watching a course, because I'm
- 23:58Speaker 4: trying to get the who, what, where, when, why out
- 24:01Speaker 4: of the way. And so, yeah, somebody I interviewed yesterday
- 24:04Speaker 4: was Lee Jenkins, who has a following on Instagram and
- 24:09Speaker 4: TikTok and stuff called the Stewardship Stewardship Coach, and most
- 24:14Speaker 4: of the time people are going to want to interview
- 24:16Speaker 4: him for financial literacy. Yeah, but for me, I saw
- 24:20Speaker 4: a sixty year old blow up on Instagram in eighteen
- 24:24Speaker 4: months and I wanted to interview him on that. So
- 24:28Speaker 4: my packaging was content advice for people over forty And
- 24:33Speaker 4: now I'm sticking with that. Hey, how are you creating?
- 24:36Speaker 4: Are you you know?
- 24:36Speaker 2: The tech that's good?
- 24:38Speaker 4: You know, Okay, how are you coming up with the content?
- 24:41Speaker 4: Like you're posting one a week on Instagram? Everybody says
- 24:43Speaker 4: post every week or every day, multiple times a day,
- 24:46Speaker 4: and like he's just he's answering and breaking all those things.
- 24:49Speaker 4: And yes, there's looseness because it is a conversation yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 4: his answers are his answers, but I'm keeping it tight.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Then it got to a point in the conversation I
- 24:59Speaker 4: was like, all right, what do I do with my money?
- 25:04Speaker 4: Because at that point we would have won. I mean, people,
- 25:08Speaker 4: if you're still here, you're obviously bought in, right, So
- 25:11Speaker 4: now we can go loose. Yeah. Yeah, And that's that's
- 25:13Speaker 4: a principle in every area. Be very strict to your
- 25:18Speaker 4: format and to delivering the value, and then when your
- 25:22Speaker 4: audience gets to a certain point, you could you could
- 25:25Speaker 4: intuitively loosen up a little bit. And I've gotten there, okay,
- 25:31Speaker 4: but not completely. I've gotten there from a standpoint of like,
- 25:34Speaker 4: I don't put too much pressure on the way we
- 25:37Speaker 4: start a YouTube video as much as I used to,
- 25:39Speaker 4: because there's a base foundation of people that click on
- 25:43Speaker 4: the video because they know we dropped it, you know. Yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 4: but that's that's everyone's different. But that's why it's so
- 25:49Speaker 4: important to not copy, because if you if you copy
- 25:52Speaker 4: me me, if you copy me at one hundred and
- 25:54Speaker 4: fifty thousand subscribers, right, you're you're neglecting the fact that
- 25:58Speaker 4: I did certain things to get here. Does that make sense?
- 26:02Speaker 2: No, that makes complete sense. Yeah, right now in my mind,
- 26:05Speaker 2: like how your mind was going, My mind is like
- 26:09Speaker 2: I've gotten one comment before, just to be transparent, one
- 26:12Speaker 2: comment and I can't remember the exact comment it was,
- 26:17Speaker 2: but it did talk about like my long windedness. And
- 26:22Speaker 2: I think that I'm so focused on creating a vibe
- 26:27Speaker 2: in my mind that I'm missing the opportunity for you
- 26:30Speaker 2: to stay for the because our conversation got good, Like
- 26:34Speaker 2: it got really good. But if that was cut out,
- 26:37Speaker 2: people will get directly to the fruit and the richness
- 26:41Speaker 2: of the conversation versus the fun, and maybe I should
- 26:44Speaker 2: put the fun somewhere else. That's what I'm hearing.
- 26:46Speaker 4: You said. Yeah, I guess so. But like something you
- 26:47Speaker 4: said was in your mind, Yeah, I mean that's most
- 26:50Speaker 4: of the creators are in our minds, and we think
- 26:52Speaker 4: so when people come up to me at the podcast
- 26:54Speaker 4: I'm out, they're like, Yo, I'm working on a podcast
- 26:59Speaker 4: or I have a podcast. How many episodes you have? Four? Oh,
- 27:04Speaker 4: you've had a podcast in your mind for six months,
- 27:06Speaker 4: but you only have four episodes. You don't have a podcast.
- 27:09Speaker 4: You don't have a podcast. So I think I think
- 27:12Speaker 4: it's just very important to get out of our mind
- 27:13Speaker 4: and get into the mind of the viewer.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Now, I'm so glad that you brought that up, because
- 27:19Speaker 4: not all comments do. We need to pay attention to it. Yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 4: but if a comment critically challenges you to be better,
- 27:27Speaker 4: I mean that person might have a point. Yeah, you know,
- 27:30Speaker 4: And so I mean, I'm open, I'm humble. Yeah, so
- 27:34Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm looking and some people are like some
- 27:37Speaker 4: people say, hey, you don't let the guests. Let the
- 27:40Speaker 4: guests talk, you know, or there's been times where people
- 27:45Speaker 4: would say, hey, I or even feedback like hey, I
- 27:48Speaker 4: like it when it's just you and art more than
- 27:50Speaker 4: when you have guests. Yeah, and you know, like that's
- 27:52Speaker 4: just good. That's that's good feedback. Yeah, and maybe we should.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Maybe we should upload more podcasts just us as opposed
- 27:58Speaker 4: to doing guest conversations. And I love the tension of both.
- 28:02Speaker 4: But all that to say, I think I think listening
- 28:05Speaker 4: to those comments and you get it where it's coming from.
- 28:08Speaker 4: You know, I'm sure they did it in a way
- 28:10Speaker 4: that was tactful, you know, but yeah, no.
- 28:12Speaker 2: It was it was I think I've just that was like,
- 28:14Speaker 2: well that was the only comment I saying. But now
- 28:16Speaker 2: that you say it holds more weight. But I want
- 28:20Speaker 2: to get to the because I know we gotta go.
- 28:22Speaker 2: But but speaking of podcasts, and since we're at the podcast,
- 28:25Speaker 2: i'm what's the biggest miss in monetization on YouTube? Like, well,
- 28:32Speaker 2: what is our biggest miss as creators with monetize.
- 28:35Speaker 4: It on YouTube? Yeah, the biggest misconception about monetizing on
- 28:39Speaker 4: YouTube is thinking that someone else has to pay you,
- 28:42Speaker 4: like a brand or Google ad Sense or the YouTube
- 28:47Speaker 4: store or whatever. When you pay you and when I
- 28:51Speaker 4: say that, I mean sponsor your own videos with your business.
- 28:57Speaker 4: If you're doing creative stuff, it might be harder. If
- 28:59Speaker 4: you're doing entertainment stuff, it might be harder. But this
- 29:02Speaker 4: is why, if you're very strategic at helping and solving
- 29:05Speaker 4: a specific problem, then just invite people and let them
- 29:09Speaker 4: know this. This this episode is brought to you by
- 29:11Speaker 4: the Content to Cast Challenge. If you want a five
- 29:13Speaker 4: day live coaching experience with me because you're you're you
- 29:16Speaker 4: want to take your content and make money with it,
- 29:18Speaker 4: or you're in a you're in your business and you
- 29:20Speaker 4: know building your personal brand is the next step. I
- 29:22Speaker 4: would encourage you to take the next challenge. If if
- 29:24Speaker 4: we don't have a date, get on the wait list,
- 29:27Speaker 4: but art anyway. So I mean, I'm just sponsoring now,
- 29:33Speaker 4: you know, I will monetize that podcast episode myself with
- 29:37Speaker 4: my business. And I've actually tried. I tried to brand
- 29:41Speaker 4: you this last year and I actually cut it short
- 29:45Speaker 4: and rewired them back the money because oh wow, because
- 29:49Speaker 4: it wasn't worth it. So I made it worth it well,
- 29:53Speaker 4: made it not worth it was just creative, not create
- 29:55Speaker 4: giving giving me creative freedom, especially with the fact that
- 30:01Speaker 4: the reason you're paying me is because you like how
- 30:04Speaker 4: I do it, so don't pay me and tell me
- 30:07Speaker 4: how to do it right. But but it's fine, And
- 30:11Speaker 4: so I was just like, it's not working, here's the
- 30:13Speaker 4: money back, and still love the products.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah, And so what you do differently next time? If
- 30:19Speaker 2: somebody was approaching about the deal, how what what would
- 30:23Speaker 2: be the thing that makes you like, okay, I'll do that.
- 30:26Speaker 4: It would be building a relationship first, like back and forth,
- 30:30Speaker 4: getting a vibe. So it was I was working with
- 30:33Speaker 4: a company that is from China, so there was already
- 30:35Speaker 4: a time thing and then you're on WhatsApp and like
- 30:39Speaker 4: it was I think on a relational standpoint, you should love,
- 30:44Speaker 4: you should know and get to know the person that
- 30:46Speaker 4: is representing that that company, and that there's a like
- 30:50Speaker 4: a good dialogue and like wanting to do something great together.
- 30:55Speaker 4: The reason why they wanted to control the the way
- 30:58Speaker 4: we work together or the deal and how I produced
- 31:01Speaker 4: what I produced for them is because they in their
- 31:04Speaker 4: mind had a way in their mind, they had a
- 31:08Speaker 4: way of how they perceived me. Yeah, And I think, yeah,
- 31:12Speaker 4: So I don't know. I think I think I just
- 31:14Speaker 4: was a little bit at the time, like I wanted
- 31:16Speaker 4: to prove a point that I could like monetize my
- 31:19Speaker 4: YouTube channel with my business and then also get a
- 31:21Speaker 4: brand deal, and I can't. I can't get a brand deal.
- 31:23Speaker 4: But because of how smart the YouTube channel is for
- 31:27Speaker 4: my business, I don't need it just cool. So that's
- 31:30Speaker 4: why I say sponsor your own videos. That's the fastest
- 31:33Speaker 4: way to monetize your business. And you could sponsor your
- 31:35Speaker 4: own video with a discovery call. You can get one
- 31:38Speaker 4: hundred views on a video and have a three K offer,
- 31:43Speaker 4: and one person could buy that three K offer off
- 31:45Speaker 4: one hundred views, and that YouTube video is responsible for
- 31:50Speaker 4: three thousand dollars. To get three thousand dollars on views,
- 31:53Speaker 4: is you need a lot of views to make college
- 31:55Speaker 4: from Google, so not making that the goal, but also
- 31:58Speaker 4: giving so much more than you're asking, you know, like
- 32:01Speaker 4: I'm able to make those asks. So I didn't know
- 32:04Speaker 4: for the longest time when our next content to cast
- 32:06Speaker 4: challenge was yeah, but are waitless for it grew to
- 32:09Speaker 4: fifteen hundred contexts because they're just sponsoring the video and
- 32:14Speaker 4: like most people would probably be like, man, but it's
- 32:17Speaker 4: not happening right now, and I want to make money now,
- 32:18Speaker 4: It's like I don't. It's okay. I'm always okay to
- 32:21Speaker 4: build trust and do no asks.
- 32:24Speaker 2: No, you just you just hit a bar right there,
- 32:26Speaker 2: like being willing to build trust and to serve where
- 32:30Speaker 2: you want to grow and monetize. That's what I just
- 32:32Speaker 2: heard you say.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it's more. It's actually more deposits from my end
- 32:37Speaker 4: than their end. So, I mean, the reason why I
- 32:42Speaker 4: get mobbed that podcast sum it is because they've made deposits.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Right, that's so good. And you've been phenomenal a podcasts.
- 32:52Speaker 2: I mean, like I say, I met you my first
- 32:54Speaker 2: year at podcasts. I mean didn't know where you were
- 32:57Speaker 2: and I waited in line just to tell you thank you.
- 32:59Speaker 2: I have no question. I didn't have anything of any
- 33:02Speaker 2: other thing else to say, but thank you. So I'm
- 33:04Speaker 2: going to land the plane with a thank you and
- 33:07Speaker 2: thank you for just being authentically you. Thank you for
- 33:10Speaker 2: putting Christ first, thank you for giving us an opportunity
- 33:14Speaker 2: as creators to go beyond what we thought we saw.
- 33:18Speaker 2: And so as a tradition on just as the podcast,
- 33:21Speaker 2: we allow the guests to have their final words. So
- 33:24Speaker 2: if you came in with anything on your heart, if
- 33:26Speaker 2: you want, if you have something burning in you, a
- 33:28Speaker 2: frustration with the creation, I want to give you the
- 33:32Speaker 2: floor to say.
- 33:32Speaker 4: That, Yeah, well, thank you for having me. And I
- 33:36Speaker 4: want everyone to make sure you watch next week's episode
- 33:38Speaker 4: or the part two because it's rich. But I would say,
- 33:44Speaker 4: you don't need anyone's permission to do it, and if
- 33:47Speaker 4: you do feel like you do, I'm going to look
- 33:50Speaker 4: you into the eye and say, you have my permission
- 33:54Speaker 4: to build the thing that is in your heart. Stop
- 33:56Speaker 4: waiting for somebody else's permission. You got it.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I love that. Stop waiting on somebody's permission. Oh mar,
- 34:03Speaker 2: thank you so much. This has been a dream come true.
- 34:07Speaker 2: It's all my bucket list, y'all. Now, y'all, blame omar. Well,
- 34:11Speaker 2: y'all start seeing content. Chance, I was just playing, but
- 34:14Speaker 2: it's gonna be great. We are here to grow, We're
- 34:15Speaker 2: here to learn together. I love you, guys, Desiree, thank you,
- 34:19Speaker 2: Art shout out to you. You're so phenomenal, and listen
- 34:22Speaker 2: guys until next week. Until next time, remember life could
- 34:27Speaker 2: be much more simple if you just.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Ask thank you for tuning in to this week's episode.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Since you've made it this far, you might as well
- 34:40Speaker 1: connect with us on all social media platforms at the
- 34:43Speaker 1: Jessica S.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Smith.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I know I won't see you back until next week,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but until then, remember to.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Love always yourself and always thank.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Thank God for one another day. I know we could
- 35:01Speaker 3: be another way. Hey, pray thank God for another day.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Hey Hey, I'm just thankful another day. Hey hey another day?
- 35:17Speaker 3: Oh another day wise, another day to get it right,
- 35:20Speaker 3: another day to rise up, another day living another day.
- 35:23Speaker 3: We loved ones. I always remember hold it down for
- 35:26Speaker 3: a ball one ye
