- 0:00Extracts from the 18th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, the
- 0:04supreme Secret, The message of the Gita, the secret of action.
- 0:12So might we summarize the message of the Gita.
- 0:15The word of its divine teacher is one with the secret of all
- 0:19life and existence. Existence is not merely a
- 0:24machinery of nature, a wheel of law in which the soul is
- 0:28entangled for a moment or for ages.
- 0:31It is a constant manifestation of the Spirit.
- 0:35Life is not for the sake of life alone, but for God.
- 0:40And the living soul of man is an eternal portion of the Godhead.
- 0:45Action is for self finding, for self fulfillment, for self
- 0:50realization, and not only for its own external and apparent
- 0:54fruits of the moment or the future.
- 0:57There is an inner law and meaning of all things, dependent
- 1:01on the supreme as well as the manifested nature of the Self.
- 1:06But the true truth of works lies there, and can be represented
- 1:11only incidentally, imperfectly, and disguised by ignorance in
- 1:16the outer appearances of the mind and its action.
- 1:20The Supreme, the faultless largest law of action is
- 1:24therefore to find out the truth of your own highest and inmost
- 1:27existence, and live in it, and not to follow any outer standard
- 1:32in Dharma. All life and action must be till
- 1:36then an imperfection, A difficulty, A struggle, and a
- 1:40problem. It is only by discovering your
- 1:44true self and living according to its true truth.
- 1:48It's real reality that the problem can be finally solved.
- 1:53The difficulty and struggle over past and your doings perfected
- 1:58in the security of the discovered self and spirit
- 2:02turned into a divinely authentic action.
- 2:06Know then yourself. Know your true self to be God
- 2:10and one with the self of all others.
- 2:13Know yourself to be a portion of God.
- 2:17Live in what you know. Live in the Self.
- 2:21Live in your supreme spiritual nature.
- 2:24Be united with God and God like. Offer first all your actions as
- 2:30a sacrifice to the highest and the one in you, and to the
- 2:34highest and the one in the world.
- 2:38Deliver last all you are and do into His hands for the supreme
- 2:43and universal Spirit to do through you His own will and
- 2:47works in the world. This is the solution that I
- 2:51present to you, and in the end you will find that there is no
- 2:55other Slocas. 45 to 66th of the 18th
- 7:57Chapter, the Supreme Secret. A man who is intent on his own
- 8:05natural work attains perfection. Listen thou how perfection is
- 8:10wooden by him who is intent on his own natural work, he from
- 8:16whom all beings originate, by whom all this universe is
- 8:20pervaded. By worshipping him by his own
- 8:24work, a man reacheth perfection. Better is one's own law of
- 8:30works, though in itself faulty, than an alien law well wrought
- 8:35out. One does not incur sin when one
- 8:39acts in agreement with the law of one's own nature.
- 8:43The inborn work, O son of Kunti, though defective, ought not to
- 8:48be abandoned. All actions in the three gunas
- 8:52indeed are clouded by defects, as fire, by smoke and
- 8:58understanding, without attachment in all things A soul
- 9:03self conquered and empty of desire, man attains by
- 9:07renunciation a supreme perfection of Naishkarimya.
- 9:12How having attained this perfection, 1 Thus attains to
- 9:17the Brahman. Hear from me, O son of Kunti,
- 9:21that which is the supreme concentrated direction of the
- 9:24knowledge, Uniting the purified intelligence with the pure
- 9:29spiritual substance in US, controlling the whole being by
- 9:34firm and steady will, having renounced sound and the other
- 9:39objects of the senses, withdrawing from all liking and
- 9:43disliking, resorting to impersonal solitude of stamius,
- 9:50speech, body and mind controlled, constantly united
- 9:55with the inmost self by meditation, completely giving up
- 9:59desire and attachment, having put away egoism, violence,
- 10:04arrogance, desire, wrath, the sense and instinctive
- 10:09possession, free from all I Ness and minus, calm and luminously
- 10:15impassive, One is fit to become the Brahman when one has become
- 10:21the Brahman. When one serene in the Self,
- 10:26neither grieves nor desires, When one is equal to all beings,
- 10:32then one gets the supreme love and devotion to Me.
- 10:37By devotion he comes to know Me, who and how much I am, and in
- 10:44all the reality and principles of my being.
- 10:48Having thus known Me, he entereth into that Purushotam.
- 10:53And by doing also all actions always lodged in Me, He attains
- 10:59by my grace the eternal and imperishable status, devoting
- 11:06all thyself to Me, giving up in thy conscious mind all thy
- 11:11actions into Me, resorting to yoga of the will and
- 11:15intelligence, be always wanted, heart and consciousness with me.
- 11:22If thou art one in heart, and consciousness with me at all
- 11:26times, then by my grace thou shalt pass safe through all
- 11:30difficult and perilous passages. But if from egoism thou hear
- 11:36not, thou shalt fall into perdition.
- 11:41Vain is this thy resolve, that in thy egoism thou thinkest
- 11:45saying, I will not fight. Thy nature shall appoint thee to
- 11:50the work. What from delusion thou desirest
- 11:54not to do, O Kantaya, that helplessly thou shalt do bound
- 12:00by thy own work. Born of thy swabhava, the Lord,
- 12:04O Arjuna, is seated in the heart of all beings, turning all
- 12:08beings mounted upon a machine by his Maya.
- 12:12In him take refuge in every way of thy being, and by his grace
- 12:19thou shalt come to the supreme peace and the eternal status.
- 12:25So have I expounded to thee, And knowledge more secret than that
- 12:30which is hidden, having reflected on it fully, do as
- 12:35thou wouldst further hear from me the most secret, the supreme
- 12:41word that I shall speak to thee. Beloved, art thou intimately of
- 12:45me? Therefore will I speak for thy
- 12:48good. Become my minded my lover, and
- 12:53adorer A sacrificer to me. Bow thyself to me.
- 12:59To me Thou shalt come. This is my pledge and promise to
- 13:04thee, For dear art thou to me? Abandon all dharmas, and take
- 13:10refuge in me alone. I will deliver thee from all sin
- 13:15and evil. Do not grieve home.
- 13:20Peace, peace, peace.
