- 0:09SPEAKER_01: Hi, and welcome to this episode of Assassin's Sips.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Today we will be talking about the show Good Girls, Season 1, Episode 2, Mo Money Mo Problems.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: I'm Lisa, and I am sipping on the red wine today.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know what kind, just red.
- 0:28unknown: Okay.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: That's what I was waiting for.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I was waiting for the whole like I know it's like Andes something.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: But okay.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: It's red.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: It's wine.
- 0:40unknown: It's good.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: That's all that matters.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: We got the important parts.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: And I'm your co-host, Agnes, and I am drinking a black eye.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: It's your coffee with espresso.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I haven't heard that since my Starbucks days.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Oh!
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: For those who don't not give you no, you know.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: And most because most people always used to offer order a red eye.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Not many people of order a black offer, order a black eye.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: I am yeah, it's it's it's a day.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: I um yeah.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: I didn't go to bed until after three o'clock in the morning, so I don't know how I'm a person right now.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: You're a Lisa, so that kind of covers everything.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: So hot takes?
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Hot takes.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: I don't have any hot takes.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: That was my question for you.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Do you have any hot takes?
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I guess my hot take is that I'm glad that they didn't wait to get into like they they didn't prolong the you owe me money, you owe me money, you owe me money, you owe me money, I don't have the money, you owe me money, kind of thing.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Because I guess they I mean they could have, but for the sake of moving the show along, I'm glad that they didn't.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: They were pretty good, if I remember.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: We're keeping the audience engaged.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: Also, did Beth's boobs get bigger from the last episode?
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: No, she just has big boobs.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Were they higher?
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: I feel like I didn't notice them.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: And then like this episode, I thought I was gonna get hit in the face with them.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Um, spoiler, get used to it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: I think they may have changed the bra.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Maybe, because it was like Yeah, and then she uh she had very good posture on top of the bra.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Not that there's anything wrong with this wrong with it, no.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: I just didn't notice it last episode.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: No, I'm kind of jelly.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Do you remember her from um Mad Men?
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so yeah, she's just blessed.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: The show opens with a two-day single Beth trying to navigate her kids' question about everything from their philandering dad would be allowed back in the house to how to work the remote control.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: I get the whole remote control thing.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I really do.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Well, and I get the whole being the you know, nagging mom and then in walks the fun dad part.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Her son Kenny is in desperate need of homework help.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: He tells her that she can't help him because she can't do math.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Also, side note, in my house, I am the one that helps with the math.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: My daughter is also choosing to study mathematics in her furthering education.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And my youngest one is like the secret member of Mensa we didn't know we had.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: Because, yo, do you watch the floor?
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: The game show?
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: There was a category math.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: And so we were all like, okay, interesting.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: And it was just like uh multiplication equations.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Most of them were like single digit times single digit.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: And that little child, that tiny little savage of mine, man, was she fast.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: She got every single one before any of us, and sometimes before the people on TV.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Like, we were like, did that go?
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Like, I knew you were good at math, but damn, she was just like, what?
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: So what?
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: I am a hundred percent sure it's not that women can't do math, it's that because women can do math, um the story went from men, of course, sorry, men, another way to keep us down and keep us at home was to throw out this narrative.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: But traditionally speaking, women women really weren't not forced, that's not the right word.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Um like there was no motivation to teach women math because it was the women should do the home economics, they should learn how to make pillowcases and cook a meal and stick everything in jello while the men worry about the hard stuff, like math, because they are the ones who are going to be the engineers and in the workforce.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: And and then you have I don't know, have you ever like watched movies like that are older or like more on the parody side where you'll see the women like I don't have to do math, I'm pretty.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Yes, and it just portrays like perpetrates the stereotype more and more.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: And you know, like our junior high school had a heavy focus in math and science.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: I mean I blurred, I kind of blacked out because I mean, granted, it wasn't the best junior high school anyway, but there was a heavy focus in math and science.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: This is before people use the term STEM.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: But women are fucking badass.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Hello, have you ever heard of Jack Black's mom?
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Look her up, Judith Love Cohen.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: Um why do we have Wi-Fi?
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: Right, Bluetooth.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: But anywho.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: Um but yes.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Stereotype.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: But we all know that is bullshit.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: All stereotypes.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: And my and my husband would be the first one, yeah.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And he'll be the first one to admit he's like, yeah, no, I'm not good at math.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: He's like, talk to my wife.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: He's like, she she could do it.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Um like, and I sit there and I'm like, they get that from me.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: He's like, yeah, they do.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: I love that though.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's good for some stuff.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: I just need a man that can teach me something.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: He'll mostly give credit where it's due.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: I love that though.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: That's where's speaking of the men in my life, where's my cat?
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: Beth and Annie reveal to Ruby that they're holding boomer captive in Beth's backyard in the children's tree house.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: My favorite quote of this scene thus far is, what am I looking at?
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: What am I even looking at?
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Beta has the best lines in the whole, I think in the tire series.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but I'm thinking she's the quote queen.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: I like when she comes in and she's like, it's so I pawned this and I did this, and and she gives like the updated total, and it's so sad because it's just like 59,000 or 600 and something, because all she could raise was like 300 and change.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: And they're just sitting there with these looks on their face, and she's like, What?
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: And they're like, There's been a development.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: And she's like, What?
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: And then they're and then you go to the tree house and it's like boom, or he's a development.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: He's like holed up hog tied in a tree house.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: I want to be with that friend.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Um I would have liked to have seen them try to get him up into that tree house.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: Women has mad.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: We have mad skills.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: A guy couldn't have done that.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: They were like, oh no, just leave him on the ground.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I guess it depends on the guy, but Well, yeah.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: Even after Beth and Annie explain what happened, it doesn't negate the fact that there's still a gang they owe money to, and they still have to come up with almost 60,000 to repay them.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: And because they're poor, they tell Annie she needs to hit up the richest person she knows.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Oh ding, ding, ding, baby daddy.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: And I don't know if that's an ex-boyfriend, ex-husband.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: I think it's just an ex-boyfriend.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: I don't think they were married.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: I remember.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: I didn't get that impression.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: So she's driving through the McMansion.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like an older sac kind of McMansion.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: And like, which of these houses?
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: They all look alike.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: They really do.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Um, any subdivision, they all look alike.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: In fairness, where I live now, many of the houses look alike also.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: They're just not McMansions.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: But they're not, they look alike, but they still have different well, they're different colors, there's different laundry.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they look a different, yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: They have their differences so you can tell which house.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: Um like in Arizona, I think every outside of Phoenix, every neighborhood is a subdivision.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: So they're legit all, like every house looks the same.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Some are bigger, some are smaller, some are, you know, they still have it, but it's still the same.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: There's every neighborhood is built like that.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: And it's weird to me.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Annie is stressed the fuck out driving to this house.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: She does not want to do this.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: I don't blame her.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: I rather just died.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Because then it seemed like, do you want to die?
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: She's like, Yes, I take that.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: I was like, I co-signed that.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: She's like, Yeah, if that's the alternative, I take that one.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: I choose that.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: I choose death.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: So they pull up to this house and you see a woman with scrubs, and that's a that's Greg's girlfriend, fiance, whoever.
- 10:36SPEAKER_02: And she's just up on her scrub.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: Is her name right?
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: Nancy.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: Hi, Nance.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: I don't like her already, but I'm okay.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Um she asks them to take off their shoes before they enter.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: I'm kind of bad at that.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Me neither.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Me personally, I'm like, I don't care.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: But like coming to my house, I'm gonna have to clean I clean up every night before I go to bed anyway.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: So come on in.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Well, here's here's not that not that anyone asked for it.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Here's my take, and I think that I'm of course right.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: I if I go to somebody's house and they ask me to take off my shoes, first of all, when I go to somebody's house, I know that that might be an ask.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: If they ask me to take off my shoes, I shall oblige.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: I don't I like being barefoot, it doesn't bother me.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Socks barefoot, it it just doesn't bother me.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: I actually prefer it.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Just call me Dorothy Zvornak.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: But also, if you come to my house, I prefer you take off your shoes.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: But if you don't want to, I'm not going to force you to be uncomfortable as a guest.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: So if you don't want to take off your shoes, don't take off your shoes.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Like it's funny.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: When I'm going okay, not that the size of house matters.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: It's really the size as far as cleaning is concerned.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: So, um, and the type of floors they have.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: Like, I wear heels a lot.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: So depending on the person's floor, the first thing I do, you don't have to ask me, I'm taking my shoes off.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Because I'm like, okay, these shoes plus heels.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: Especially hardwood.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: But here's the other caveat, right?
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Is that if if I if there's a house where it is mandatory, I expect you to take off your shoes when you walk into my house, then number one, that should be known before you arrive.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Before I arrive, right.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: So that I can make sure that I'm wearing I don't have holes in my socks or something.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Right, or or not barefoot if you don't like to be barefoot, or you bring slippers or whatever.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Or you are gonna provide me with something because there are many people who absolutely do not want to be barefoot.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: I have people like that in my family.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: My mom keeps a pair of slippers here because she she just doesn't like to be barefoot.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't matter how clean her socks are or how clean my floor is, she will not walk barefoot.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: And there are people like that.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: So if you want me to absolutely take off my shoes in your house, you better be prepared to offer me slippers or something to put on my feet.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Not me personally, but but but at least A, I have it known.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: And or no surprises.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: But I personally, I'm like, yeah, no, I'm not fucking this person's four.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: I am not.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: No, right.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: And then you know me, I walk down the block barefoot.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: Like, but not everybody's like me.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Or like us, because we're we're respectful.
- 13:34unknown: Right.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: And then some people's houses just huge.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: I'm like, that's gonna be a pain in the ass to clean.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: I'm taking my shoes off.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Not that you know what I mean.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Not you know, not that they're better, but I just know I'm like, oh.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: And also, like, and I get some people are, you know, compromised.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: And so there's other reasons, not just I like a clean floor, or I don't want to scuff, or I don't want whatever.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: It's because there are actual health, legitimate, you know, quote, health concerns where you cannot track something into the house.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: You just don't take the chance, and I totally get it.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: And and it doesn't matter right what the reason is.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: But say, regardless of your reason is choose off, bet I got you.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: And I however, you gotta give me an option because not everybody is agreeable to that.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: And when somebody is a guest in your home, I feel like it is important for you to offer them some sort of comfort, you know, make them feel welcome.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: And if I have to go to somebody's house and they're like, listen, just by the way, we have an absolutely no shoes-on policy.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: I appreciate you letting me know beforehand.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Because also, the other thing for me is that while I have absolutely no qualms about being barefoot, I also don't walk around all day on my socks or my dirty feet and then put them in shoes.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: I'll change my socks or I'll wash my feet.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Like I I will walk around, even if I don't shower before bed, I'll fucking wash my feet.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: I don't always shower before bed.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Like, you know.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: No, I thought you could have said even if I don't shower, and I was I was like, Oh no, no, no.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: And then you added the before bed.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh, okay.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm not like I don't want to get into my bed with dirty feet.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: I don't want to put dirty feet into shoes or into socks.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: So I'll bring an extra pair of socks.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Like, just let me fucking know.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: I'm so agreeable.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: I'm so easy.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Easy breezy.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: That's what he said.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: But that's also part of the communication.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: I'm easy too, but no one wants to give me a chance.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Um I'm putting off my soapbox.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: I'm off.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: I'm down.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Hey, I could see the ground from here.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: At this point, Andy wastes no time to ask Greg with the 60,000.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: He's like, what's the matter with you?
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's like, she's like, just like 60.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: He's like, dollars, grand.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Grand.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: He's like, what is the matter with you?
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: And that was just the fact that it's just like it's bananas.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: Most people are like, wait, what?
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: No, he's just he's just, I guess, because he knows her so well.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: He's just like, Yeah.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: She's like, you can afford it.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: There's orchids everywhere.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: And you have an in ground pool.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, you know what?
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: I don't have orchids or an in ground pool.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: So maybe.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: Give me 60.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: Give me 60 grand.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: I and then I can afford orchids in an in-ground pool.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: I had one orchid I bought from BJ's and it died.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: Orchids are very temp, they're very temperamental.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's why I didn't want to buy like one from an expensive store because I knew it was gonna kill it.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: She's like, I know this is gonna die.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was like six dollars when I bought it.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: So it was I was okay with it was on its way out the door for six dollars anyway.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: And like it had it had roots already in the grave, was ready to go.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: It was pretty for for a couple of weeks though.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Um but for six dollars now I have a nice little flower pot.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: So you know, it wasn't a waste.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: I actually have when I cr when she was younger, but her um a plant, a flower, beautiful flower, lasted for a couple of years.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: I don't get much sun in the window.
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: Anyway, and it had like the pot was in like a I don't want to say bag, but like a bag.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: And it was water control, like it Okay, so you could just water it when it kept the water.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: It was just really amazing.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: So the plant at the couple years died.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: I still have the pot with the bag.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, if I get something else, but I don't get sun in my house.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: I don't get so it's hard for me to grow anything inside.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Outside is very limited, but anyway.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: But I love that.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: So the ladies meet up at the diner, at Ruby's Diner.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so Annie didn't get the money, obviously.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: No, no, because that'll be the end of the series.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Um, that'll be the Okay, episode two, one and done.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: And we thought reunion was fast.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: One of their diners.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: They have a group of diners in a booth, corner booth.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: I like corner booths.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's Rio and the gang.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: He lets him know, and on he he's she asked him more time.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: He's like, Okay, not a problem.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: Tomorrow.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: I'll tomorrow at one.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: Tomorrow at one.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: He's like, okay.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: He was very kind.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: I don't know what it is.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: Maybe because I had a crush on him when he was in another show.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: But something about this one, I was like, I would owe you money too.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: It's his calm and his confidence.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: So sexy.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: It's like he just commands the room.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: And that's what it is.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: It's that quiet.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: I am in charge.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: Got sure.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: And some piece I read it just today.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: When someone's in charge and capable, they don't have to yell.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: No.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: And I swear, even if you didn't have that gun sitting on the seat, it still would have been the same.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: Some like sheep, like dogs have to bark at sheep.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: When you like when you're but wolves don't have to.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: It's just like is Yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, my brain is shutting down.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: No, no, but I know, I know.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Trees don't say shit, and look at the redwoods.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Hello.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: We all know they're trees.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: Beth, the next scene, Beth visits a pawn shop.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: This little old lady watches everything she's pulling out the bag.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: And she goes, So what do you do?
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Beth just looks at her like uh then she pulls out the photo out, the photo, her wedding photo with the beautiful silver frame.
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: He goes, Oh, it must have been bad.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: She's like, Yeah, but you can keep the picture.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: Um, obviously, what she was offering was not enough.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: She's like, I need to walk out of here with$2,000.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: And she looks at the ring, she goes, How much do you hate him?
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: I was uh Yeah.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: Which because she says it was like his great-grandmothers, and I'm like, uh, like that's I don't know, I was so torn.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Because like the rational part of me is like That's a family heir.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: You can't do that.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Like, no matter how fucked up, like it belongs to your kids.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: Like, that's the way I, you know what I mean?
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I'm like, but you have to break it down a little bit.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: We're like, yeah, sell that bitch.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: You're gonna lose the house where the kids live.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Like, it's not about the divorce, it's about you three mortgages of my house.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: It's it's about making sure that your kids still have a home to live in because they can't live and eat that ring.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: They exactly so yeah, it's just tough.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: It was a double bugger.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: Dean is feeling it.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: He's going through the emotions, and I'm like, Oh, that's his name, Dean.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: I wrote Mr.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: Boland.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, I can't remember his name.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Dean is going through all the emotions.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Why is Amber still working there?
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: Side note.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Like, why the fuck is that happening?
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I thought she took$5,000 to go be a porn star.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: Maybe her maybe her her well, I guess it's only like the next day.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: Two days later.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, two days later.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: So maybe her plane, uh, her her plane hasn't left yet.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, he was so fucked up.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Like the guy is in there like begging to buy this car.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: He doesn't have to do anything.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: All he has to do is have the paperwork.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: The buy the guy wants the car.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: All he had to do was be like, just give me your money.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: And then he would have sold the car.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: And he takes it, he makes it as a metaphor for his relationship.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: And the guy was like, Yeah, I want the car, please.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: Like, do you want anything new?
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: But oh, just better.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: And I you I really just would have.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's like my son who's having almost a hundred thousand miles.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Yeah, but you gotta think about the memories with the old car and exactly what I needed.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Ugh.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: And this is like Yeah, you're thinking of a shiny new model, but think about the good, the good thing that you have already.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, you you don't like the find out part.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Got it.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Sell the damn car.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Sell the damn car.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: Because you have to make because you have to make money, so sell the car.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: Sarah is thriving with this new medication that they got the samples from last week.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: And it's they were at a soccer game.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: And that's how that's how behind you can see her playing.
- 22:59SPEAKER_02: Never had a child to be in that position, but to watch my sick child to be able to now play soccer, to play and my heart swelled at that scene.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: And I will say that Retta as Ruby did such an amazing job conveying that because I'm sure that you know and and have felt like when you're so used to things being a certain way and like a struggle, and like you you kind of don't know when the other shoe is gonna drop, so to speak.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: Because it does drop.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And then and so she's sitting there on the edge of her seat, like, okay, she needs water.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: And and then her husband is like, no, wait, like this, stop.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Like she is okay.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: But I know that feeling where you can't just be in the moment.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: And as much as you want to just enjoy and be, you can't because you're so worried about what's gonna happen next, and how do I prevent it, how do I catch it, how do I correct it?
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: And it's like I can see everything that I have felt at times in her acting.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: And I was like, damn, that hit too close to home.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: Not that my kid is sick, but but I know it's always being on guard and ready to go at a moment's notice.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: On guard.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: That's a good way.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: So emotionally draining.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: Um she's a phenomenal actress.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: She is, she really I mean, and she's playing.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: All three of them are, but this scene, and even in the last episode, the scene with her and the doctor, like, she's already getting me like in my feels, and I'm like, I don't know about how I feel about that.
- 24:55unknown: Yeah.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know how I feel about having feelings.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: I love, is his name Stan?
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Her husband's name Stan?
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: It's Stan for the purpose of this um conversation.
- 25:07SPEAKER_02: I think Mr.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Ruby.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Ruby, his positive can-do, you bet your attitude.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: Because he's doing it, because he does it in a way that's not unrealistic.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: Like he still is, you know, he's his feet are firmly planted on the ground.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: He's a grown-up, he's realistic, but he's still like, hey, we're okay.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: And then that is what propels her to like, okay, it looks like fire.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Like the fire.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: And that's what a part of a partnership is.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: And I think I said this before like a real partnership is not 50-50, it's a hundred-a hundred.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: In that you are all each person's giving their hundred.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: Different times of relationship, that hundred looks different.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: So that way the other person needs to pick up a little bit to make up for it.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: So you so your hundred always looks different, but you're always giving all that you have.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: And they just work really well together.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: And this is why I'm single because I have unrealistic um expectations for relationships.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: And this is one of those couples.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: So here, he unknowingly gave her the wherewithal to catch up their plan.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: Oh Lord.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: And the plan, the plan is to like go back to Boomer and This is what we're gonna do.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: We've already done kidnapping.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: Let's do Rashom.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Because Boomer's grandma apparently doesn't trust the banks and has a shit ton of cash in her apartment.
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: And they're like, okay, so they call to do it.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Well, I love that they're like, they're messing with the different voices, and they're like, is that Sean Connery?
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: And it's like, I don't know, just some Scottish guy.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: It's just a Scott, Scott, Scottish guy or something like that.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: I think we should record one of our episodes with one of these voices.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: The look Lisa gave me.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: That's scary.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: I think we'll lose every last one of our 14 listeners.
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: We'll do it, we'll do a disclaimer in the beginning of the episode.
- 27:20unknown: Yeah.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: Um, so they're calling, goes to voice, goes to the answering machine.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Six years later, they're still trying to get through to grandma.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: And it's and the time progression is denoted by like um Annie's different positions.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Positions.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: She's just like, I'm done.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: I give up.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: So they take bats into their own hands.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: So they escalate.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: And they escalated.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: So went from ransom to breaking and entering.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, breaking and visiting.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: Um well, it right, right.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: The goal was entering, the outcome was visiting.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, my favorite.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: So they all head to grandma's house.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: What's her name?
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: Marion?
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: I'd rather call her grandma.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's she's from like Shameless, and uh I've seen her in a bunch of different places.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: A bunch of different things.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: She's so cute.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Beth is holding up YouTube so Annie can pick up.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: So they go back to that part.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Because grandma's not home.
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: With a YouTube video.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: Thank God for you.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: How would we break in and enter if without YouTube?
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: Thank you, YouTube.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: And of course, as she's clicky, clicky, clicky, clicking, grandma opens the door.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: Grandma's one tough little old bitch, because, like, can I help you?
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: Uh whoops.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: Grandma got some.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: Okay, so Annie, who's like an exceptional liar.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: We love that.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: With a home visiting aide, however.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, I thought it was Beth who did that.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: I meant Beth.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: In my head, I saw Beth.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: I said Annie.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, okay.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: I did mean Beth.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: Did I screw up?
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: No, I did.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: Because in my mind's eye, I saw it was Beth.
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: She's like, oh, come on in.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: And she's loving three strangers in her home.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: Medicare, this is um, this is a division of Medicare where we check in and and we like come and help you do stuff.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Now they do have that, um, but it's a pain in the fucking ass to get it.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: It's like all the red tape.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: So she's showing them pictures, and it's a picture of boomer with his fiance.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: Um I'm gonna say boomer like that, though.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Lisa's like, I hate you, Agnes.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: You started it with Jessica Alba.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Annie's just like she's doing it a lot.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Papa doesn't know that it's Jessica Alba.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Like, um she's like, and then they see her, their faces when they're looking at the picture, and she's like, I know what you're thinking, but she's only half she's only half.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: This bitch.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: Um, so little old lady's racist.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: Personally, I would have no problems um robbing her.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah?
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Okay, now I'm tying your ass up with them robbing.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: Right, and so then they're like cleaning, but mind you, uh, Beth is in the Beth bedroom, or she was doing something, she was dusting or something.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Annie is laying on the couch, eating cookies, looking at a photo album, and Ruby is vacuuming.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Am I the only one who has to clean?
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: Like, does the white lady is the white girl about a clean too?
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Is the white or just eat cookies?
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so Beth goes in the room and she's looking for the money and then sees all the pictures, and then she finds the literal plastic bag full of cash.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: But in the meantime, because mind you, back at the house, when she went out, she left like the babysitter and she was like, Okay, don't go outside.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: We sprayed for toxic bugs, but then the husband comes to mow the lawn, and Boomer can hear the lawnmower, and he's trying to yell, but he's got his headphones and he's listening to Toto.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: And so he doesn't hear anything.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: But when they call, um I guess the babysitter calls because the remote's not working again, and she could hear the lawnmower, so she's like, Oh shit, I gotta go.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Like, I gotta go.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: So she doesn't rob the racist lady.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: And um Ruby is like, you fucking choked?
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: Like you couldn't rob the nice little racist lady.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Like, what the fuck is the matter with you?
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Like, what's wrong?
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: But no, we're robbing a lonely old person.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Is this what we are?
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, this is who we are.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: Like, she I was like, yes, it's exactly who you are.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: Or die with the from the mob from the gang, but that's okay.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: I'm okay with that.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: They they go back to their respective lives and they start to make what seems to be arrangements for their impending departure.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: And yeah, and it's picking out the different places.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: This is my also one of my other favorite red lines, Ruby lines, red lines.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: I call them the same.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: And they're picking out these random countries.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: And Ruby's like, Well, no China.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: Well, I can't get Indian food there.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: What can I get Indian food?
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: And he's like, Well, what about India?
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: She's like, Oh god, no.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're like, Oh, what about this earthquakes?
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: What about this bugs?
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Like, okay.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Well, she's not wrong, though.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: She's so she goes home and she makes like a shit ton of lasagna.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: They all have their moments that they're that they're cleaning up moments.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Annie is like, okay, do this and don't do this, and don't make her take off her shoes in the house.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: And um, I forgot what Beth does.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: Beth, it's that conversation.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: Um, her daughter wakes up.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, and she goes, you know, mommies go away, but they always come back.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: So, yeah.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: But come to find out that Annie stole one of those little like Hummel Himmel figurines.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: I forgot what you call them.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: And they're worth a lot of money.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: So it's like up to like$8,000 on eBay, and they're like, okay, you got more?
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: And it's like, maybe, maybe there's a way to get close.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: But before they could get the money, no.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: Rio comes, and they are like, it's like they're sitting at a fucking office presentation, and they're like, so listen, here's how we're gonna get you your money.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Did you know?
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: And they're like, and these figurines, and and this one is only one of however many made, and and in this folder is we did most of the legwork for you.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Here is our eBay usernames, our passwords, and tips to maximize, and he's like, No.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: And everything goes fucking flying, and shit breaks.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: And they're like, oh, so you're gonna make it look like a home invasion to kill us?
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: And he has like a gun to her head, to Beth's head.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: She makes an impassioned speech and about how, you know, basically like, you don't want to kill like the white uh housewife.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: It's like it'll draw too much attention.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: Shit, I close my notes up.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, I'm gonna No, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: It's you know what?
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: It's in five fucking years of this.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: I it's like habit.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: This is like the end of the episode, towards the end.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Um, doing all this drama, Bloomberg breaks out the treehouse.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: Girls celebrating a toy truck up there.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: It's always the toy trucks.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: Toy trucks and Legos, always the ones that kill you at the end.
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: So they're celebrating the fact that they get to live at least one more day.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: He gets out, they're going to, they're driving around looking for this dump to dump.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: They're looking for a boomer.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: Um they see him in the street, and he's not maneuvering too well.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: He falls into a culvert.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Well, his hands are still tied behind his back.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: But it's still hysterical.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: Like he's just like hobbling along and just Yeah, because he got his legs free, but that was it.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: Um, but he should have been able to, if he was a woman, or smart, he could have got his arms around his legs.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: Right, it was more flexible.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: No, but he's not smart or flexible.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: Women have to be both.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but it works out good because Annie is a devious genius, takes his pants down.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: They're like, oh my god, what the fuck is she gonna do?
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: She goes, she goes Lorena Bob at him.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, his dick.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, they didn't say dick, but yeah.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: She takes a picture of his member.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: I have a feeling it's not that impressive though.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: Um, she's like, I just sent this to my daughter.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Actually, no.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: You sent it to my 11-year-old daughter.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: You tell, and I'm telling everyone you're a pedophile.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's like, You go to the police, so will I.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: So she sent it to actors.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: But isn't that a thing, right?
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Like guys who try to SA woman, they're probably not that impressive, otherwise they wouldn't have to.
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: I love the fact that you said SA.
- 36:39SPEAKER_02: Like, I like the generally like the fact that oh.
- 36:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, generally like that.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: I know I'm sarcastic nine and a half times out of ten.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, so the point five percent that I'm genuine.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: I have to like make sure she knows that I'm being genuine.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: This is like dick pic for the save.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Ruby is like hostage peen.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, never knew a dick pic could actually save the day.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: Because that's how.
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: Um, so I gotta backtrack a little bit because I know I have problems.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: After leaving grandma's house, and she's telling Dean, Beth tells Dean, you know, I don't need you.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: This is my house.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: You know, I have moles, you don't.
- 37:26SPEAKER_02: I have moles in my house.
- 37:29SPEAKER_02: Um, he's like, okay.
- 37:31SPEAKER_02: He's like, you know, just put some chewed up bubble gum and they're it'll choke and die.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, damn, I wish I had some mole holes to throw some people in and give them some gum.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: But I just people I wish were moles, but I'm just like, get some gum.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: Just throw gum at them.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: I was a little like with this scene because I don't know how long they've been married, but judging by the age of their kids, right, it's gotta be at least over a decade.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: And it seems as if she has been a housewife for most, if not all, of that time.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: But then now she was like, it's my house, I paid the mortgage.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: But what about all those years?
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm not listening I don't I'm not saying that he's right for what he did.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: He fucked up royally.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: Not only did he cheat, but he put them in a giant financial hole without her knowledge, without even telling her, right?
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: She found out all on her own, and that was very wrong.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: But I think about it like if it was the reverse, if I had paid a a mortgage on a house for 10 years and I got into trouble, even if I put my own self in that trouble, and somebody else was like, Well, I just paid the mortgage now and it's my house, like you have to go, I'd be like, the fuck I do.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: So I I was like really like, yeah, um, I get it, but like that's not the right answer.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: You know, I think in this situation, and I don't th I I think it was more um symbolic.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: It's more like, I got, yeah, I paid the mortgage.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: I think she really was saying, I fixed your shit.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: But I saved the house.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: I think that's what it really meant.
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: I think any any other situation, if it wasn't that he fucked up, if it was just like, oh shit, we got in bad times, and then she would have said that, that would have been that would have been a fucked up thing to say.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: Favorite um, so at the end, she comes.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: So Miss Badass.
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: All of them have their nightly reprieve that night after Dick picked for the save.
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: Um, Ruby gets home and all the lasagna was eaten.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_02: So you can't leave us.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you now you have to stay.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, and Annie also realizes that one of the figures wasn't broken.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: So they're like, okay, so we still have one.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_01: So it's like, and and um Beth is sitting there drinking her, she's like reading the remote instructions and drinking her bourbon in a sippy cup.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: But she gets it.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: She gets the TV to work.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: And then the next day.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: It because it's the next day, like in the morning or whatever.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: She shows off her new skills with with the kids, and she got the TV to work.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: Everyone's happy.
- 41:06SPEAKER_02: But where's Kenny?
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm so glad you remember these kids' names because I haven't I haven't remembered anyone's name except them and Boomer.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: Boomer.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: Um And I still keep going to call him Cricket, so um he can't get a show with a normal name, I guess.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: No, he's been typecast.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:28SPEAKER_02: He so she goes outside, she finds um Kenny, and Rio's teaching him math.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: Because you know, he needs a tutor.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: He needs a tutor.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: And obviously, you need him you need a man, so you know.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: And so, yeah, right?
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: Honestly, who's better to teach math but a drug dealer?
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: They know math.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Come on, like they're you know, ruthless, but probably good businessmen.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: So like that um Facebook reel, the the the the voice, the audio.
- 41:56SPEAKER_02: Like, hey, mom, how much is the eighth?
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: Oh, about a f about 40 bucks.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: She's like, well, I'm doing fractions.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: She's like, Oh, oh, sorry, my bad.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: So um he goes, yeah.
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: Rio has a conversation with um Beth.
- 42:16SPEAKER_02: She's like, you know what?
- 42:17SPEAKER_02: Your talk had a lot, you know, had me thinking, you guys got passports?
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: And you already know, off fuck.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: You already know.
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: No good could come of that when a drug dealer asks if you have a passport.
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: And that's the end of this of episode two.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: More money, more problems.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: I um, the scene when they were at when Ruby and her husband were at the soccer game, when she, you know, she was sitting there worrying, and he's trying to reassure her and everything, and he was like, 'She was like, you know, we can't afford that drug.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: And he was like, 'Yeah, but he's like, I'm gonna be a cop, and cops have good insurance.' She's like, 'But you're not a cop yet.' And like, it's gonna be at least six months.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: And it just, you know, it just goes back to this whole fucking bullshit system.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Like, this poor kid is gonna have to suffer for at least six months.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: And just because you have good insurance doesn't mean that that's true.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: Doesn't mean the shirt's gonna cover it.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: And it's like this poor kid's life is on the line.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: Now he has to do a job where it puts his life on the line so that you can maybe save your kid's life.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: How fucked up are we?
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: Anywho, I don't know what the next name of the next episode is because I didn't look.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but we will both find out on next week's episode.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: I'm okay with the show so far.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: I think she likes it, she likes it, she doesn't want to say it, she likes it.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: No, I like it.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: I'm fine with it.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: I um I hope that it gets a little bit more um you know me.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: I like the red strings and I like the this is not that this is not lost.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: No, no, I know I know that.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: I know that.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: But even reunion was like, ooh.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: You know, like that's a clue.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: So there's there's things where I assume That might become like callbacks and things to pay attention to for later, but I think it's just gonna be more of story without having to think too much.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: That's my guess I don't know.
- 44:46SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:49SPEAKER_02: Fine.
- 44:50SPEAKER_02: Oh, oh, the tables have turned.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:57SPEAKER_02: What do you think is gonna happen in the next episode, Lisa?
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: I'm guessing that he'll explain the new mission to them.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: The new mission.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Should they choose to accept?
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess they have no choice.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: They have no choice.
- 45:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it's odd to be ever in your favor.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: It's gonna every episode is just gonna be like, okay, what's the mission?
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: How are they gonna pull it off?
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: But they will.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: But okay.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: And how are they gonna keep it a secret from like their loved ones?
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: But then you've got the variable, which is boomer.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: Because I'm sure that he'll come back into play somehow, but I don't know.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: I still don't understand, because like I said, I don't I really don't remember a lot of the show.
- 45:50SPEAKER_02: I don't understand how he can still think he's a threat.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: He had to know where the money came from.
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: He may not know, he may not know no, but he had some idea that it was it was unsavory characters.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: His best bet would keep his mouth shut.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: Because whose money belongs to, don't they don't want him to go to the cops anymore?
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Well, let's play devil's advocate.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: Boomer was like the general manager, but he's not the owner.
- 46:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 46:27SPEAKER_02: So But the safe would they keep their money in anyway?
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: Like, you know what I mean?
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: So he's like, why are there$500,000 in here?
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: He's seen it.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: But but I would guess that he's not smart.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: Well, he's not, he's not smart, and that's probably why he got the job.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: Because the owners know, like they're probably laundering the money or you know, whatever, working with Rio and his group.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: And the fact that Boomer is such a fucking moron is easy because it could say, no, that's the cash we keep on hand.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: And Boomer would have no fucking clue that it doesn't belong to the store because could he be trusted to keep the secret?
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: So I feel like well, I'm thinking of like Ozark, right?
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: Like they they did this whole thing, and the like the higher-ups knew, but the other people didn't know because you can't involve too many people in your shit because that's how you that's how you get burned.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: That's how you get caught.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: So I feel like as far as Boomer knows, it would make it more sense if he didn't know that that money was dirty.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 47:53SPEAKER_01: That all he knows is that it's the store's money so that there's less chance of the dirty business getting out.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: That's my guess.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: If I was gonna launder money, I would put some fucking idiot like Boomer in charge.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: Who's not gonna question, who's not, you know, who's who's just not smart enough to understand, like, why does this supermarket need$500,000 on hand?
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: Somebody like you would be like, why do we have so much money?
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: And how could I get away with you know what I mean?
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: Like you would qu you would question it.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: Most of us would be like, that's a lot of fucking money to keep on hand because you would know how much money the how much business the store does in a day, in a week, in a month.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: You know what kind of change you need.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: And and there would be so much more risk in having that much money on hand versus in the bank.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: Plus, you're not doing business in cash, like with your suppliers, with your um, you know, with your with your goods.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: There's no need to have that money on hand.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: So you and I would be asking questions.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: So Boomer would have been, and we would have been either A, not hired or B killed.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: No, we would have been smart enough not to ask any questions.
- 49:26SPEAKER_02: But listen, Lisa, right?
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: I got it.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: But we we would realize that there's something else and kept our mouth shut.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: Right, which is why I think Boomer got the job because he's a fucking moron.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: Moron.
- 49:39SPEAKER_01: Like, and the security guard is another fucking idiot.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: He's like, she walks into the store and there's all these cops, and they're like, Oh, have you seen Boomer?
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: He's not here, and and he's like, What's with the fuzz?
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: He's like, hello, there's a robbery, get woke.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: She was like, that was days ago.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: But like, and he's like, Yeah, it was scary.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: I threw out my neck.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: But yeah, so I feel like those two were there simply because they're idiots.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: Because that was the point.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: But all right.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Any other questions?
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: Next question?
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't need questions.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: No.
- 50:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you don't know who David S.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Pumpkin is.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: No, nope, no questions.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: I don't know, David S.
- 50:30SPEAKER_02: Pumpkin.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: Do you have anything else before we wrap up?
- 50:34SPEAKER_02: I have nothing else because I don't want to give you any spoilers.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: I'm on board with that.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: She's on board with shutting me up.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: No, I'm on board with no spoilers.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: I don't like spoilers.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: I know what you meant, Lisa.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: She's like, now I want to shut you up.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Visit us at sassinsips.com.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: You can find all the ways to get in touch with us, all the ways to support this show.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: And don't drink and drive, drink responsibly.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: And until next time, I'm Lisa.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm Agnes.
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: And we're out of here.
- 51:11SPEAKER_02: See you later.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: Bye.
