Good morning and a warm welcome to your show,
• 0:05
Sunny Mornings in Boston. I'm your host, Melissa,
• 0:09
  and it's Wednesday, December 17th. You'll be
• 0:13
interested to know. 122 years ago, today in 1903,
• 0:20
Wilbur and Orgel Reich made the first controlled,
• 0:23
sustained -powered flight near Kitty Hawk. lifting
• 0:26
their machine into the air and traveling a short
• 0:29
distance under pilot control. That breakthrough
• 0:32
demonstrated that human heavier -than -air flight
• 0:35
was achievable and set the foundation for modern
• 0:38
  aviation, inspiring innovations in transportation,
• 0:42
engineering, and global connectivity. So now
• 0:46
you know. And now, it's time for the weather
• 0:50
report. This morning it's sunny and it feels
• 0:55
like 20 degrees with 12 mile per hour wind. The
• 1:01
sunset will take place at 412 and it will rise
• 1:04
again tomorrow at 707. It looks like we're in
• 1:08
for a mostly sunny day with a high near 44 at
• 1:12
a moderate southwest wind around 12 to 15 miles
• 1:15
per hour, gusting up to 32. Tonight. Expect mostly
• 1:21
clear skies with a low around 30 in light winds.
• 1:26
For all you beach runners out there, the first
• 1:28
high tide Wednesday will be at 915, with a low
• 1:32
tide just after 330. The nearshore buoy at Cape
• 1:36
Cod Bay reads 44 degrees for the water temperature.
• 1:42
Looking ahead in the weather. Thursday will be
• 1:46
mostly sunny with a high near 50 in light southwest
• 1:49
winds, but rain arrives after 8 p .m. with a
• 1:52
low around 40 and south winds gusting as high
• 1:56
as 40 miles per hour. Friday will be a wet and
• 1:59
windy day with highs near 58 and southwest winds
• 2:03
14 to 20 miles per hour, gusting up to 46. Then
• 2:08
cooler Saturday with highs near 39. and a low
• 2:11
Saturday night near 31 with a slight chance of
• 2:14
snow. Bonjour, food enthusiasts. This podcast
• 2:19
is brought to you by Versailles Cafe and Pastries
• 2:22
in Encinitas. Nestled on El Camino Real South,
• 2:26
just north of Encinitas Boulevard, this cafe
• 2:29
is a haven for culinary delights. Indulge in
• 2:33
their amazing Eggs Benedict or their gluten -free
• 2:37
crepes. You can grab a panini for lunch or just
• 2:41
breeze on through to get your morning coffee.
• 2:44
They are open every day from 8 to 5. So stop
• 2:48
on by and don't forget to tell them. Sunny mornings
• 2:51
send you. In local news, nine weeks after Governor
• 2:57
Maura Healey requested a review, the Department
• 3:00
of Public Utilities opened an investigation into
• 3:03
all delivery charges on electric and gas bills
• 3:06
in Massachusetts. This probe will examine the
• 3:09
causes of bill volatility and promote a greater
• 3:12
understanding of rates for customers, enabling
• 3:15
them to take greater control over their energy
• 3:18
bills. The investigation will explore establishing
• 3:21
limits on monthly charge increases and whether
• 3:24
certain charges should be eliminated or redesigned
• 3:27
as fixed charges. As residents and businesses
• 3:31
face rising utility bills, Healy emphasized that
• 3:34
families cannot afford unexpected high costs.
• 3:39
The first phase will investigate delivery -related
• 3:41
charges, while the second phase will focus on
• 3:44
utility bill design and billing practices. Now
• 3:52
on to sports. The NFL playoff bracket is going
• 3:57
to have fewer familiar faces this season. Thanks
• 4:01
to the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the Los Angeles
• 4:03
Chargers, they have been eliminated from playoff
• 4:06
contention. For the first time since the 1998
• 4:10
campaign, the postseason will not feature either
• 4:13
Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Patrick Mahomes.
• 4:17
While Manning and Brady are retired, Mahomes
• 4:20
has kept the streak alive in recent years. However,
• 4:24
this season has been different, with the Chiefs
• 4:26
struggling to a 6 -win and 8 -loss record. Mahomes'
• 4:31
injury adds uncertainty to at least part of his
• 4:34
20 -26 campaign in local sports. Bruins forward
• 4:40
Morgan Gicke scored a pair of goals, and goaltender
• 4:44
Jeremy Swamen stopped 20 shots on Tuesday night,
• 4:47
helping the Bees secure a strong 4 -1 victory
• 4:51
over Utah, marking their fifth win in their last
• 4:55
six games. Casey Middlestad and Michael A. Cement
• 4:59
also scored, while David Pastranak provided a
• 5:02
pair of assists as the Bruins returned from a
• 5:04
three -game road trip to open a five -game home
• 5:07
stand with a win. Defenseman Charlie McEvoy made
• 5:11
his return to the TD Garden ice after surgery,
• 5:15
wearing a face shield. The Bruins will host Edmonton
• 5:18
on Thursday night. In top news, there will be,
• 5:24
no doubt, many occupations that we cannot even
• 5:28
imagine today. But here are four that seem possible.
• 5:33
Artificial intelligence technology is going to
• 5:36
transform how we live and work in ways we cannot
• 5:39
begin to imagine today. While it may make some
• 5:42
jobs obsolete, it will also create whole new
• 5:45
jobs centered on the technology and its advances.
• 5:49
One potential role is the AI explainer, an expert
• 5:52
who translates complex AI concepts into plain
• 5:56
language. Another is the AI chooser who helps
• 6:00
companies select appropriate AI systems for various
• 6:03
tasks. Auditors and cleaners will address bias
• 6:07
in AI decisions while trainers will use AI to
• 6:11
tailor employee education. These jobs are just
• 6:15
the beginning as AI will create countless new
• 6:18
roles and opportunities. In business news, stock
• 6:24
futures slid as traders absorbed shaky U .S.
• 6:28
economic data. The S &P 500 futures decreased
• 6:32
  by 0 .2%. NASDAQ 100 futures fell by 0 .3%, while
• 6:39
futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average
• 6:42
  dropped 79 points, or roughly 0 .2%. The U .S.
• 6:47
Bureau of Labor Statistics released its November
• 6:50
job report. showing the economy shed 105 ,000
• 6:55
jobs in October. The unemployment rate rose to
• 6:58
4 .6 percent, its highest since September 2021.
• 7:04
However, 64 ,000 jobs were added in November,
• 7:08
surpassing the Dow Jones estimate of 45 ,000.
• 7:12
Bob Elliott, CEO of Unlimited Funds, stated,
• 7:16
This is probably not the time to be bulked up
• 7:18
on stocks. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is up
• 7:23
half a percent to just over $87 ,000. Ethereum
• 7:28
is unchanged at about $2 ,900. And SRP is up
• 7:34
  3 % to $1 .92. Moving on to a more local vibe.

and prediction markets, unveiling an AI -powered
• 8:39
investing assistant and sports trading tools.
• 8:43
CEO Vlad Tenev stated, Robinhood is ushering
• 8:47
in a new era in which AI and prediction markets
• 8:50
will come together to change the future of finance
• 8:53
and news. Since the prediction markets feature
• 8:56
launched, more than 1 million customers have
• 8:59
traded 11 billion contracts. Customers asked
• 9:03
for more, prompting an emphasis on prediction

• 10:02
weekly episodes, viewers will have nearly two
• 10:04
months to engage with the evolving narrative.
• 10:08
As the season unfolds, pressing questions surrounding
• 10:11
  corporate conspiracies, and character motivations
• 10:14
emerge. Well, all righty, folks. It's time for
• 10:19
the quote of the day. And today, our quote comes
• 10:23
from the American inventor and aviation pioneer
• 10:25
Wilbur Wright. And he said, is possible to fly
• 10:31
without motors, but not without knowledge and
• 10:34
skill. And that's a wrap for this morning. You
