- 0:00You're listening to banter with the boys talking all things sports from bedding and
- 0:08brawls, Superbowl to Stanley Cup finals.
- 0:12Get laced up.
- 0:14It's time for banter with the boys.
- 0:24Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of Rinkside Chirps.
- 0:27I'm your host Kevin.
- 0:28Today with me we've got Kyle and Smelty.
- 0:31Smelty, how are you today buddy?
- 0:33I'm tired.
- 0:35Just got here straight from work and going straight back to work right after but here
- 0:39to talk some wild for a little bit.
- 0:41Kyle, welcome back buddy.
- 0:42How are you?
- 0:43I'm doing good.
- 0:44I can't wait to talk some wild have been on a downward spiral but we're going to take
- 0:52some positives out of it or at least try to find some positives.
- 0:55But yeah, there's plenty to get to here so hope you guys enjoy.
- 0:59Alright, with that we got a few different topics we're going to talk about today.
- 1:03The very first one we're going to talk about Marco Rossi, Kyle's favorite player to talk
- 1:07about.
- 1:09He's got elevated as the last couple of weeks.
- 1:11He's gotten an elevated position with the downturn of some of our offense.
- 1:14I know currently right now he's with his normal lineup but he had a bit of an elevated performance.
- 1:19Kyle, what are you thinking so far about Rossi and his new line?
- 1:23I like it.
- 1:25This team needs a spark and the first line needed a spark and Rossi has provided it.
- 1:31He just looks comfortable to me playing with Corril.
- 1:39I didn't know they were going to move Zuccarello too.
- 1:42You put Boldy with Kaprizov and Rossi, skill on skill on skill.
- 1:48Good things should happen for sure.
- 1:49But recent games, Dean I think broke that lineup.
- 1:55Don't know why but I think, well, Ballysports North has been atrocious lately.
- 2:03I haven't been watching.
- 2:06I think I took like a three game, four game break because Ballysports North was having
- 2:13a hard time connecting and we're paying, you know, whatever and it wasn't just my server,
- 2:18it was everybody's server which is annoying.
- 2:22But now they got it fixed.
- 2:24But I did see that Dean broke up the line again and went back to Zuccarello and Hartman
- 2:29for a bit.
- 2:30Don't know why but hopefully Rossi can stay on that line because that's been one of your
- 2:37bright spots right now.
- 2:38Well, now as of this morning I think he broke everything up even again.
- 2:42I mean, he got injuries and stuff so he's moving shit around.
- 2:45But I mean, I think you got to leave that line together.
- 2:49I mean, it's kind of like the youth movement, right?
- 2:51It's kind of our three top guys, Coril, Rossi.
- 2:55I mean, I know Coril, we were waiting forever for him to get here.
- 2:58Rossi fell right in our lap in the draft which nobody expected.
- 3:03So then we had excitement with him.
- 3:05And then Boldi has just been kind of a nice little, I mean, developed into a nice player.
- 3:10So like I think these guys just need more time to play together.
- 3:14I mean, how are you going to know what you got with them together if you keep changing
- 3:19it up?
- 3:20And I know hockey's, you know, keep changing lines up, getting different combinations,
- 3:24see what's working, see what's not.
- 3:26But you got to give it a little bit more time, I think.
- 3:30So I agree.
- 3:31I think personally looking at the stats right now for those four games where they were paired
- 3:35up, this is some of my crazy notes that I've got.
- 3:37So I've got-
- 3:38Wait, so the four games that it was that line?
- 3:40Correct, yep.
- 3:41Okay.
- 3:42So the four games, it was November 2nd against the Devils, the fourth against the Rangers,
- 3:46seventh against the Islanders, and then the ninth against the Rangers again.
- 3:50We had four games where that lineup was together.
- 3:52It was Rossi centering Boldi and Kaprizov.
- 3:55Again, I agree.
- 3:56I like that elevated role.
- 3:58I think it's a great lineup.
- 3:59Would I have liked to see Zuccarello in there for a touch?
- 4:02Maybe a little bit just to see just Kaprizov and that Zuccarello kind of chemistry come
- 4:06back a little bit, maybe.
- 4:08But I'm not like upset about that not being the case.
- 4:10I like the fact that Boldi got a shot.
- 4:12Kid's been playing well.
- 4:13He's back from the injury.
- 4:14I'm hoping he can stick it out.
- 4:15So personally looking at the stats from those games, I'll go just game by game real quick.
- 4:20First game, November 2nd against the Devils.
- 4:22That lineup combo had two goals, three assists.
- 4:26Second game against the Rangers, one goal, two assists.
- 4:30Third game against the Islanders was one goal and an assist.
- 4:32And then the fourth game, which is I would assume probably why they got disbanded, they
- 4:36were the second line, not the top line.
- 4:38They got zero goals, zero assists, and they had a total of about six shots amongst the
- 4:42three of them all game.
- 4:44So their performance dwindled over those four games.
- 4:47What was the fourth game again?
- 4:48That was that ass Rangers game.
- 4:50That was at.
- 4:51Yes, it was really bad.
- 4:53The whole team, the whole team, the whole team sucks.
- 4:55I'm not surprised they got zero points.
- 4:57So how many points total then in those first three games?
- 5:00First three games, four goals and six assists in the first three games total.
- 5:04I'm not mad about it.
- 5:06You get some performance, you get some production.
- 5:08Obviously you had Kaprizov is the number one guy.
- 5:10He had two goals for himself.
- 5:12Rossi had himself a couple of goals and then Boldy was the assist king there.
- 5:17He had two, three, four assists in total.
- 5:21So I'm not mad about it.
- 5:23Yeah, I'm not mad.
- 5:24I'm shocked after one game.
- 5:26I mean, that was probably all bad.
- 5:29I mean, bad play from everybody.
- 5:30Yes.
- 5:31Dean decides to break up that line and go back to the other line.
- 5:35Yeah, I don't understand that.
- 5:38I mean, yeah, like you said, I'm not too disappointed with that.
- 5:44But I don't get why go back to the, I just, I don't get it after Dean Evison's soul,
- 5:52you know, like especially what we've seen through a year.
- 5:56I mean, Ryan Hartman and Zuccarello, Kaprizov, that line has been together for what?
- 6:04Since Corrella's got here pretty much.
- 6:06So to just completely go away from that after three games when something's clicking.
- 6:13But again, like the last game obviously was a bad performance, but that kind of doesn't
- 6:19really add up to me.
- 6:21Did either of you guys catch the game yesterday?
- 6:23What an ass whooping that was.
- 6:25What was the top?
- 6:26What was the, what was the Corrella line yesterday?
- 6:29Because I can't remember.
- 6:30I know I watched a good chunk of it and then was disgusted.
- 6:32But what are you talking stats for that line or what?
- 6:35I'm just saying like who was on his line yesterday?
- 6:38Like what line did they?
- 6:40Let me pull it up here in two seconds.
- 6:41Pretty sure it was Zuccarello and Hartman.
- 6:43And Corrella, okay.
- 6:44I think they mixed it up.
- 6:46Like it was, yeah, it was like a mix.
- 6:48So thank you to the, the morning puck.com.
- 6:51I will shout them out later as well for some stats that I have about the defense.
- 6:55But line combinations last night were again, Kaprizov, Zuccarello and Hartman on the same
- 6:59line again.
- 7:00They had a single goal last night with one assist.
- 7:03Total of five shots amongst the three of them, an average of about 15 ish minutes of ice
- 7:08time amongst three of them.
- 7:10Again, thank you.
- 7:11The morning puck.com not sponsored, but their stats are awesome.
- 7:1415, huh?
- 7:16That seems.
- 7:17Yep.
- 7:18So Kaprizov, what the what were the rest of the lines time?
- 7:21Yeah.
- 7:22So Kaprizov on that line was 16 minutes, 49 seconds.
- 7:24Zuccarello was 1627 and Hartman was 1302 bringing the average down a little bit.
- 7:29What's the average of the other lines?
- 7:32So Pat Maroon, Eric Snack and Foligno 1324, 1930, 1533.
- 7:37So about 15 minutes for the Foligno line.
- 7:40Boldy, Johansson, Rossi, probably about a 16 minutes average there.
- 7:45And then Connor Dewar, Vinnie Lettari and Brandon Duhame anywhere from six minutes to
- 7:5014.
- 7:51So you probably call it about 10.
- 7:52I mean, they did take what eight penalties that game.
- 7:54So a lot of it, a lot of it was special teams by the way.
- 7:58Sure.
- 7:59So that's actually going to skew those numbers.
- 8:00Yeah.
- 8:01It was.
- 8:02Yeah, it was.
- 8:03I don't know.
- 8:04Eight penalties or something like that.
- 8:07There was something ridiculous.
- 8:08Stupid.
- 8:09It was bad.
- 8:10But we can we can definitely talk about that game here in a little bit.
- 8:14So thinking back to the Rossi elevated play, I'm happy to see his production there again
- 8:18over those last four games on that line.
- 8:20He had a goal and a couple of assists, which I'm not too upset about.
- 8:23Again, his ice time kind of dwindled towards the end of it.
- 8:26Not the greatest, but I would have liked to personally have seen that lineup stay the
- 8:30same if anything, maybe drop boldly down and put Zuccarello back up there again.
- 8:34But disappointed to see him drop back down in the lineup.
- 8:38Obviously last night with the lineup there, he was on boldly and Johansson's line, which
- 8:42of course they didn't produce anything.
- 8:44Rossi and Boldy did have an assist, though.
- 8:45So that's that's kind of what I've got for the Rossi elevated play.
- 8:49Kyle, you have any final thoughts or smellsy?
- 8:51Anything else?
- 8:52No, you nailed it.
- 8:53I mean, I want to see him like with the top line.
- 8:57I don't want to see him going back and forth here.
- 9:01So it's only been three games since you elevate him to the first line.
- 9:06And then you're I mean, I get that the team's struggling a bit, but man, you just leave
- 9:12your skilled guys with their skilled guys because we we definitely need it right now.
- 9:16Yeah, no doubt.
- 9:17I mean, I think I'm going to these next few games looking forward in general, I think
- 9:21it's just something more for I know me to pay attention to because I played goalie,
- 9:26so I'm more of a goalie guy anyway.
- 9:28Not that I don't pay attention to the game as a whole because you have to.
- 9:33But I just it's just something to keep an eye on, you know, for me personally, like
- 9:38the different line combinations.
- 9:40Let's plug him in there.
- 9:41Let's plug him in there and really see if there's some sort of not rhythm, but I think
- 9:47rhythm is a good way to read them chemistry chemistry or just something as far as like
- 9:51what Dean's trying to do.
- 9:53That's what I'm that's what I'm trying to say is like he keeps changing it up.
- 9:55So I want to try to see if like try to get in the mind of Dean like what is he seeing
- 10:00that he's trying to do?
- 10:01I don't know.
- 10:02Just yeah, I'm just curious, you know, at the line combinations going forward for sure.
- 10:06We'll talk about that in a little bit.
- 10:08So but yeah, I don't understand after him just being so so, you know, what's the word
- 10:20consistent with lines throughout, you know, the years we've had them deciding to change
- 10:27the almost like refusing to change refusing.
- 10:29Yes, exactly.
- 10:30So yeah, we'll see what happens, though.
- 10:35And moving on to our next segment here really quick.
- 10:37I want to just talk about the current state of the wild right now as it sits today is
- 10:40November 13th, Monday.
- 10:43The wild are currently at a record of five wins, eight wonderful losses and two overtime
- 10:48losses currently on a three game losing streak.
- 10:52With that being said, the last week we had a little bit of shuffling going around.
- 10:56Kailin Addison got traded, sent him out to San Jose for pretty much as as smellsy mentioned
- 11:02a second ago, some loose change.
- 11:04We sent him off.
- 11:05We ended up getting a player in return, which didn't produce anything in the A.H.L. and
- 11:10also a sixth round pick.
- 11:12And in turn, we additionally got Zach Bogosian for a seventh round pick, only a twenty five
- 11:16thousand dollar difference in salary cap from Bogosian to Addison, really just being a six
- 11:21man demand to six man demand.
- 11:23Maybe Judd Brackett can nail that fifth round pick.
- 11:27Maybe that can turn on to do another Capri soft, but we'll see.
- 11:30We can only hope so.
- 11:31I'll see what were you going to.
- 11:32Did you want to kick us off here with the Addison trade?
- 11:35Yeah, no, just confirming we gave up or we got back a fifth round in Adam Rasca from
- 11:42the Sharks for Addison and a lot of wild fans freaked the hell out about this situation.
- 11:49I follow a lot of random fan pages on Facebook.
- 11:53It's all Facebook's good for for me.
- 11:55But other than marketplace, buddy, you're my marketplace friend marketplace.
- 11:59Yeah, way too much time.
- 12:01Anyway, I get why people are upset because he's got an offensive potential and we've
- 12:06seen that obviously.
- 12:08But there is absolutely been no sign of any defensive potential for me personally.
- 12:13So like the fact that he was already sitting kind of started giving you ideas that he was
- 12:17probably they're looking to move them.
- 12:20And then the fact that they did also told me that Spurgeon would probably be back either,
- 12:25you know, very, very soon and he was back next game.
- 12:27So and then they go out and get Bogo, who's more of a physical force on the D line, definitely
- 12:33going to be our in our third pairing, but bring some size and a little more physicality
- 12:39to our defense, which I think is needed.
- 12:42Yeah, I guess we'll see how Addison does in San Jose.
- 12:46He'll probably thrive, you know, because anybody the while get rid of thrive typically, although
- 12:51you don't hear too much of Grandlin and Charlie Coyle much anymore.
- 12:54Yeah, there's definitely been a few quote unquote busts, if you will, going elsewhere
- 12:59out of out of Minneapolis here out of the state of hockey.
- 13:02But thinking about I did see an article that was written with Addison making a quote, something
- 13:07about how he didn't really expect it, which to me is kind of sounds weird.
- 13:09I'm pretty sure he did know it was coming.
- 13:11But also he said it was a new opportunity for him.
- 13:13I think a change of pace is good.
- 13:14Change of scenery is good for anybody, regardless of who you are.
- 13:17To your point, I do believe that he was on the way out.
- 13:21There was rumors and there was some some comments written in articles that him and Dean didn't
- 13:26really get along.
- 13:27Dino wasn't very pleased with his performance and just wasn't very happy just in general
- 13:30with him.
- 13:31And then it's just like, who knows how much money Addison will actually garner because
- 13:35he's on a one year deal right now.
- 13:37We signed like a one year prove it deal.
- 13:39So far he has approved it.
- 13:41But like even so, maybe we just knew we probably weren't going to keep him anyway.
- 13:45So you just had to kind of, you know, in a way, get what you can for him.
- 13:48Give him a shot.
- 13:49Yeah, no, I think I'm sorry.
- 13:50No, you're fine.
- 13:51I'm just saying now we got some young guys coming up that can maybe get some playing
- 13:55time.
- 13:56What's the name?
- 13:57Damian Hunt, Damon Hunt.
- 13:58He's helping you right now.
- 13:59The Wilderness, you know, get some get some of these guys some more NHL experience and
- 14:03see what they can do.
- 14:04Yeah, we got Murmus here right now.
- 14:07I know Hunt is on the trip at the moment as well.
- 14:08He's played a couple of games recently.
- 14:10And Kyle, you're kind of our our local.
- 14:14What's the term I'm looking for?
- 14:16Lead hockey mind.
- 14:17Yeah, they got a lead hockey mind.
- 14:18Yeah, I know you're more of our prospect, our prospect guy.
- 14:22What do we got going on in Iowa as far as the defense is concerned?
- 14:24And that'll bring us to our next topic.
- 14:26I will.
- 14:27So, Damon, Damon Hunt's your guy.
- 14:29But like looking, I mean, with Jack Peart's, you know, with St. Cloud Petro, I don't know
- 14:36how to pronounce his name, Petrovosky.
- 14:38He's Czech.
- 14:39He's good.
- 14:40Carson Lambos.
- 14:41I mean, there's a lot of young talent coming up in the Minnesota Wilds prospect pool for
- 14:47defensemen.
- 14:48But yeah, I mean, the trade kind of surprised me a little bit just because, I mean, it's
- 14:53still early on in the season.
- 14:56And it seemed like Bill Guerin and Evison kind of gained Addison's respect going into,
- 15:03you know, like making the team and stuff.
- 15:06As soon as the Wild changed up their power play, I think it was like I think this was
- 15:12multiple or this was probably probably a couple of days before the trade.
- 15:19They they sent out five forwards and Addison wasn't the guy up top on the powerplay on
- 15:24the powerplay.
- 15:25Yeah.
- 15:26And I was like, OK, that's weird.
- 15:28And then not the next day, but I think it was the following day he gets traded.
- 15:32And I was like, oh, that's probably why.
- 15:34Yeah, I I thought he would bring a little bit more power play.
- 15:39I mean, he definitely he shot the puck a lot, but the pucks weren't getting, you know, they
- 15:44were either getting deflected, they weren't scoring goals.
- 15:48I'm kind of surprised they don't have Faber up there, to be honest with you.
- 15:52He brings so much to so much offensive spark.
- 15:57So I hope Faber gets a chance at at P.P. one or I mean, because I think he's so dangerous
- 16:03with the puck and he just he deserves a chance at least.
- 16:06I mean, but no, that trade kind of did take me by surprise just knowing the, you know,
- 16:15the skill he has.
- 16:18But again, I didn't none of these games I was like, oh, wow, Kaylin Addison.
- 16:23Like look at him.
- 16:24Like he he really, you know, played what he was prior best defenseman like.
- 16:31And you know, knowing Garen and Evison, if you're not going to play defense, your your
- 16:36ass is getting shipped.
- 16:40You know, he he got the opportunity and he just didn't produce.
- 16:45And you know, he we said goodbye and he's out of here.
- 16:50And hopefully we get a decent prospect with that fifth round pick.
- 16:54Well, speaking of prospects and picks talking about some of our defensive woes as of late
- 16:58again, we're on a three game losing streak right now.
- 17:01The boys need some frigging help.
- 17:02I got a little bit of numbers here, boys.
- 17:04I'm not quite sure how they'll all kind of stack together, but let me pull these together.
- 17:10So lack of consistency on the defensive pairings for me has been one of the veins of our
- 17:15existence personally.
- 17:17As of again, thank you to the the morning puck dot com again, not sponsored, but these
- 17:20guys have incredible stats.
- 17:21Super cool to work with.
- 17:23They have had 12 different defensive pairings this entire season.
- 17:27Fifteen games in 12 different defensive pairings, most notably Kyle's favorites, the number
- 17:32one defensive pairing in the league.
- 17:34Brodean and Faber paired up 10 games total the season so far as a as a defensive pair
- 17:40and then 10 games for Murmuss and Middleton.
- 17:43They got a total of six together, including last night's game.
- 17:46So the lack of consistency for me is probably part of that.
- 17:49I don't know how many block shots we've got.
- 17:50A lot of the defense is blocking shots, getting in the way.
- 17:54But we need some help.
- 17:55Goal tending hasn't been great either.
- 17:57But similar to what I've always heard in soccer, it's not the goaltender's fault.
- 18:01If the ball gets to him, it's already kind of a lost cause.
- 18:05Similar to hockey.
- 18:06It's not always the goaltender's fault.
- 18:07You got five other guys in front of them.
- 18:09But your goaltender does need to be your best penalty.
- 18:12Great, agreed, absolutely.
- 18:13And last game, I think, was a big proponent of that.
- 18:15You're on the PK eight times last night.
- 18:18But our defense needs some help.
- 18:21But when you're on the penalty, penalty kill, like you said, eight times, that's obviously
- 18:25a lot.
- 18:26Usually it's not that much.
- 18:27Right.
- 18:28But even two, three times, dude, that's kind of unacceptable as a goalie.
- 18:32Like you're now you got to keep an eye on everybody and they're they're going to have
- 18:36a man somewhere that's not covered and you just need to know where he is in your brain
- 18:41at all times.
- 18:42If he moves over here, now he's got to move over there in your brain, too.
- 18:45You just got to know where he is at all times.
- 18:48So I mean, playing from playing on a penalty kill all the time, you're playing from behind
- 18:54already.
- 18:55It just sucks.
- 18:56Like you're losing energy.
- 18:58It's just it's just not it's unacceptable to me.
- 19:02I'm disappointed.
- 19:03And with our defense right now, we're at sixty three goals against this season, which is
- 19:07second frickin highest in the league behind Kellen Addison's new team, the San Jose Sharks
- 19:13with sixty six.
- 19:14So we're really not that far off from being the worst in the league of goals against.
- 19:17Did your what is it called?
- 19:18Morning Puck, the morning puck.com.
- 19:20Did they the morning puck dot com?
- 19:22Did they do they do they have any numbers on like odd man rushes or anything like that
- 19:28or breakaways?
- 19:29OK, that's that's the thing I've noticed.
- 19:31The games I have been able to catch at a at a length.
- 19:36You just see the odd man rushes all game or or straight up breakaways like you can expect
- 19:42your goalie to stop them every time.
- 19:43Now I will say there's some there's some shots that are just they're literally floating in.
- 19:49You would think you would you'd be able to save that.
- 19:52I'm no NHL goalie, but you would think you'd be able to get there and they're just not
- 19:55getting there.
- 19:56So I will say the goalie play also is just not good right now, especially from Gus.
- 20:02Flower seems like he was kind of getting it together, played OK in the shootout, but also
- 20:06lost a shootout.
- 20:07So it's.
- 20:10I don't want them to bring up any other goalie right now, but they brought up Wallstead just
- 20:14for that trip that's coming up to Sweden.
- 20:17Obviously we talked before we started recording probably as a an emergency backup situation,
- 20:21but not kind of what it is.
- 20:23But I think I think, you know, if your defense in front of you is not playing well, I mean,
- 20:28you're not going to play well either.
- 20:30You can play out of your mind and still not play, you know, still not put win games.
- 20:34I agree.
- 20:35So but I'm not saying it's all on the defense.
- 20:37I mean, the goalie play is definitely part of it.
- 20:39I mean, as a whole, the team as a whole is just I don't know.
- 20:43We'll get into that when we start talking about some Dean.
- 20:46But we're in the dumps.
- 20:47Don't get it.
- 20:48Yeah.
- 20:49Yes, we are looking at it right now, though, on a little bit of a positive note for the
- 20:51defense.
- 20:52The captain, Jared Spurgeon, has returned from injury.
- 20:55He's been back for a game or two now.
- 20:57Have you guys seen his play at all?
- 20:58How do you think he's feeling?
- 20:59Do you think he's back to full 100 percent?
- 21:01Do you think he's still milking or not milking it, but still kind of recovering?
- 21:06And they're just like, dude, we need you to figure it out.
- 21:08Still kind of getting back used to game speed, I think, because he didn't even play a game
- 21:12yet this season.
- 21:13You mentioned under the day that he had actually been regular season.
- 21:15I think it was the last preseason game is when he got injured.
- 21:18I think I can't remember.
- 21:19But like, I know even if it wasn't, it was the first game of the season then or something.
- 21:23It was dumb early.
- 21:24So I think he's just easing his way back into the rest off.
- 21:29Yeah.
- 21:30Yeah.
- 21:31Spurgeon has been OK, but yeah, he's still still knocking the rust off.
- 21:35But boy, does Middleton need Spurgeon Middleton's a minus seven on the season.
- 21:42He hasn't looked good at all, which kind of surprised me because last year he was just
- 21:47so consistent.
- 21:49But again, he's with Spurgeon.
- 21:51So hopefully that pairing can get it together because we desperately need it right now.
- 21:57We need something.
- 21:59But also it does hurt that Gidgerow is out too.
- 22:02I mean, special teams, you know, he's our penalty killer, you know, with him and Nack
- 22:06out there out front with Spurgeon out there too.
- 22:10So you know, I think the penalty kill will get better when when we're, you know, 100
- 22:16percent.
- 22:17But right now they need to grind out some games very quick because the central division
- 22:23is super competitive.
- 22:25We all know that.
- 22:28So they're just going to have to grind it out and hopefully not get not get any more
- 22:32injuries here.
- 22:34Hopefully we can stay out of the box.
- 22:35Hopefully we can stay out of the injury reserve list.
- 22:38Time will tell as to how things are going to go with our defensive woes.
- 22:44Moving on to our next segment here, we did touch a little bit on the goaltenders here
- 22:48so far this season.
- 22:49Obviously, we have a goaltending tandem of Philip Gustafson and Marc Andre Fleury.
- 22:54Last night's game was was pretty abysmal.
- 22:56Not much there else to say on that one.
- 22:58But Spelciano, you got some thoughts on attending the goaltending this season so far.
- 23:02What do you got, buddy?
- 23:03I mean, just looking at at the tandem as a whole, right?
- 23:08You know, honestly, to me, I thought Gus was going to come into this season and just kill
- 23:11it.
- 23:12To be honest with you, he wrapped up the season pretty well.
- 23:16And I was like, OK, I felt kind of confident with Gus being our number one and then Fleury
- 23:19kind of being our number two, especially after game one.
- 23:22Yeah.
- 23:23Yeah, right.
- 23:24The Panther game.
- 23:25And I thought that Fleury would would be fine.
- 23:27And Fleury's kind of starting to play better now as the games kind of go on as he's starting
- 23:31to get into the season.
- 23:33But all in all, they still look rough.
- 23:35I mean, if you just if you're just looking at a stat line, right, which is nothing special,
- 23:39anybody can do this.
- 23:41But if you take a look, I mean, Fleury's three point four one goals against and Gus's four
- 23:47point six four goals against.
- 23:49I mean, that is just oh, my God.
- 23:53Even Fleury's is bad.
- 23:55But Gus at four point six, dude, are you kidding me?
- 23:58That's bad.
- 23:59You can't.
- 24:00And I know the defense is playing bad.
- 24:01I know that.
- 24:02And I and I do blame the defense for a lot.
- 24:04But like at some point, it's on you as well.
- 24:07And like you were just mentioning, Kyle, before we even started getting going on the pod,
- 24:11how both goalies are under 900, say percentage.
- 24:14Yeah.
- 24:15Yeah.
- 24:16Flowers at Flowers at eight seventy nine with Gus at eight seventy two.
- 24:19It's bad, bro.
- 24:20Yeah.
- 24:21Fleury and Gustafson have allowed four or more goals in 10 of 15 games this season.
- 24:27Holy shit.
- 24:28The Minnesota Wild are one in eight in those games.
- 24:31Well, yeah.
- 24:32One eight.
- 24:33No, one eight and one.
- 24:34Yeah.
- 24:35Yeah.
- 24:36I would imagine if you're going to let up four goals a game, you're losing that shit.
- 24:40Yeah.
- 24:41So I don't there's no answer.
- 24:43There's no there's no answer for this really.
- 24:46No, you don't bring Jesper Walls set up.
- 24:49That is a bad idea.
- 24:51Leave him down there.
- 24:52Now he just got called up again, like we've already mentioned for their little trip to
- 24:55Sweden, which makes sense as an emergency goalie.
- 24:58I would imagine he would practice with the team might as well.
- 25:00What else are you going to do?
- 25:02But I don't think he's going to play.
- 25:05I think you need to wait till next year for him.
- 25:07Now I think if somebody approaches a while, they're like, hey, we want flower on our team
- 25:11so we can make a cup run, which I don't see anybody doing right now.
- 25:16You know, go for it.
- 25:17Probably.
- 25:18Right.
- 25:19I think he'll play a flurry jersey someday because I still think it's crazy that he's
- 25:22playing for my Minnesota Wild.
- 25:24I never would have guessed he's still a Hall of Fame tendy, but it's it's the end of the
- 25:29road for him.
- 25:30Gus, this is not a good look for Gus either.
- 25:35I think you do expect to see Jesper up next season, however.
- 25:39Yeah.
- 25:40Oh, for sure.
- 25:41But yeah, they it's one game at a time.
- 25:43That's the only way I see any light at the end of the tunnel here for the Minnesota Wild.
- 25:49Just grind out a game, win one game, you know, use that momentum in the next game.
- 25:55Kind of like what the Vikings are doing right now.
- 25:57Just stacking up wins.
- 25:58But yeah, they just got to grind it out.
- 26:00They can't bring anybody up.
- 26:02So it's it's going to be it's going to be a challenge for them.
- 26:06But if you hey, if you if you win one and you know, you got some momentum on you, you
- 26:11can go on a roll.
- 26:12You can go on a roll.
- 26:13You tons of teams have done it.
- 26:15So yeah.
- 26:16Well, like I said before, we're in a three game losing streak right now.
- 26:18If somebody were to get hot, get a couple of goals under our belts, I feel like the
- 26:21big thing for the Wilds who is we're always playing from behind.
- 26:24It's not very often where you come out into a game and we're playing with a two or three
- 26:27goal lead.
- 26:28It's hey, we've got a single goal lead in 30 seconds to five minutes later.
- 26:32Good luck.
- 26:33Or we're just getting shit on and we're we're losing.
- 26:35That's like we go.
- 26:36It's like we go on the penalty power play goal, you know, especially the teams that
- 26:41we played.
- 26:42I mean, I don't know what the star I know the stars, the the Rangers, the Islanders,
- 26:48the Sabres, I think all of them are in the top 10 for power play percentage.
- 26:52And so they're only what did the stars go five or five or five or five and then two
- 26:58short handed goals.
- 26:59I mean, it was it was crazy.
- 27:02Yeah, I saw the article that Russo had written.
- 27:04I think it was Joe Smith because we're supposed to have something.
- 27:07He mentioned is a tweet from or is a mention a quote from the head coach of Dallas saying,
- 27:13if you're going to give us those, we're going to make you pay for it.
- 27:16And it's the exact same thing that we saw last year in the playoffs and in Vegas when
- 27:21the board was in Vegas.
- 27:22Hundred percent.
- 27:23The board is always the same thing.
- 27:24Yeah.
- 27:25Yeah.
- 27:26He's got a number and there's not much we can do about it.
- 27:27And especially if you play like hot garbage like we did yesterday, you get an eight to
- 27:31two or eight to three just ass whooping and it ends up taking Marc Andre Flurry's goals
- 27:36against average before last night's game.
- 27:39He was a two point seven five after last night's game.
- 27:41He's up to sponsor's point of three point four one.
- 27:44OK.
- 27:45So we're still at two point seven five point seven five.
- 27:47That makes sense.
- 27:48Yep.
- 27:49That makes sense, because like I said, he was playing better as of late.
- 27:53Like I said, I read the stats for since we last recorded the last pod, which also was
- 27:58not including last night.
- 28:01Holy crap.
- 28:02Sorry.
- 28:03Which I don't know if somebody wants to do some quick math here.
- 28:05I didn't I didn't get the actual percentage, but we got on one hundred and eighty six shots
- 28:12against flower gave up 19 goals.
- 28:16So I don't know what that percentage is.
- 28:18I'm not a mathematician off the top of my noggin.
- 28:21I got to ask you something about 10.10 percent roughly.
- 28:24It's about 10 percent.
- 28:26Sorry.
- 28:27So you're saying it was one hundred eighty six shots.
- 28:30He led in how many goals?
- 28:31Nineteen.
- 28:32Nineteen.
- 28:33So we 19 divided by the one eighty six would be sorry.
- 28:35The way around.
- 28:36No.
- 28:37Yeah.
- 28:38Nine point seven eight nine point seven nine, so almost 10 percent nine point seven nine.
- 28:44That's not bad.
- 28:45It's not great.
- 28:46But wait, did you say nine points?
- 28:48We're doing our math wrong, bro.
- 28:49That's the number.
- 28:50But I can't you guys.
- 28:53Anyways, that was fun.
- 28:59Let me ask you, Tyler, are you surprised?
- 29:02Are you guys surprised?
- 29:04You know, I know last night's game was just so bad in all aspects of the game.
- 29:10But if you were the coach, would you would you pull flower when he's when it's the fifth
- 29:18or sixth goal or or or or, you know, I know, like, let's say, you know, why wouldn't you
- 29:27try to spark anything?
- 29:28I get that, you know, the game's pretty much almost over, but just I feel like it doesn't
- 29:35do the team any good, leaving flower in that for the entire game.
- 29:42But yeah, like even after the fourth or fifth.
- 29:46I mean, change up something.
- 29:48Right.
- 29:49Like, I know Dean Evison has been one of those type of guys where he hates to pull folks.
- 29:53I figured it out.
- 29:54We didn't move a decimal point over.
- 29:56No, you got to divide the number of saves by the number of shots.
- 30:00So it comes out to be an eight, nine, seven save percentage.
- 30:04That makes sense.
- 30:05Yeah.
- 30:06So I work really not mathematicians around here here at Bennett with the boys.
- 30:09So good save.
- 30:10Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:11But yeah, so so not horrible.
- 30:14Right.
- 30:15And that in that blank in those games, which would have been 12 games that I accounted
- 30:21for again, 13 being last night, which I didn't add to this.
- 30:26Flower was three, three and one.
- 30:28And that that one is a shootout loss loss.
- 30:32And then he also had a shootout win in that.
- 30:34So trending in the right direction.
- 30:37But we always we talked about it in the very first episode this year to that flower tends
- 30:41to play well in the beginning of the season and then taper off towards the end of the
- 30:44year as well.
- 30:45So do you say Kyle's point?
- 30:48Do you think it would have been worth pulling him in that case there?
- 30:51I'm not mad about Dean Ebison leaving him in there.
- 30:53To be quite frank, we didn't play well regardless as a team.
- 30:57Let the boys fight back.
- 30:58Let them try to find something because I heard also in the postgame interview with Ebison
- 31:02that he was telling me that he was saying players on the bench were saying, go out there.
- 31:07Don't turn pucks over.
- 31:08Don't turn pucks over.
- 31:09And that exact same person would go out there, turn a puck over and then they would just
- 31:12kind of get all in their heads as well.
- 31:14So I'm not mad about him leaving him in there, letting him all try to fight back and fight
- 31:18for something.
- 31:19No, I'm just worried about like confidence wise.
- 31:22I mean, eight's a huge number, right?
- 31:24Eight's a huge number, but he was passed out for two.
- 31:26Yeah.
- 31:27I know Flurry is, you know, he probably just doesn't give a shit.
- 31:31Like, he's like, oh, well, okay, not my fault, but like, that sucks.
- 31:35But at the same time, I feel like if I were to let up five or six, like by the sixth goal,
- 31:41I think I would lose a little bit of confidence.
- 31:44And I don't know if, I don't know.
- 31:46Like I've never been a goalie, but like.
- 31:48Yeah.
- 31:49And you're honest.
- 31:50Like I've played in a couple of leagues at Mariucci and stuff and, you know, I'm kind
- 31:53of a civ.
- 31:54So like, you know, after like that fifth one or whatever, I'm just kind of like, it is
- 31:58what it is.
- 31:59Like it's not going to get better than five, right?
- 32:02I just don't want that number to hit six now.
- 32:04And that's kind of the mentality that you got to get in when you're having a rough game
- 32:07like that.
- 32:09You know, it's almost, it's, that's almost harder for me than like, if I have five minutes
- 32:16left in the third and I'm borderline shut out, which of course now I get nervous because
- 32:20I like getting shut outs.
- 32:21But like, it's almost harder to not let up that six goal than the one for the shut out.
- 32:27You know what I mean?
- 32:28Like.
- 32:29Right.
- 32:30Mentality wise, right?
- 32:31That's what I mean.
- 32:32Yeah.
- 32:33Okay.
- 32:34But yeah, I was just like, so six goes in, seven goes in.
- 32:35Now you're at eight and I feel like that would just, I don't know.
- 32:41He's also been in the league forever.
- 32:42I know.
- 32:43Right.
- 32:44And he's professional so like today he probably woke up and was like, new day.
- 32:47Well, that sucked, but let's fly.
- 32:49I gotta go get it.
- 32:50You know, you just have to go get it again.
- 32:52Yeah.
- 32:53If you love it, you have to go get it.
- 32:55And I think I, again, I'm not mad that ever let flurry sit there and marinate in that
- 33:00one because everybody marinated in it.
- 33:02It wasn't like flurry got to take the easy way out after two goals and then Gus came
- 33:06in and gave up six.
- 33:07It's no flurry gave up all eight and the guys in front of him played like dog shit.
- 33:10I'm not mad that he left him in there.
- 33:12I think it was kind of an awakening, which he also talked about this morning as well
- 33:16was today's practice was going to be a whooping.
- 33:19And from what it sounds like, it was.
- 33:21And I don't even think Dean Evison has ever really pulled any, any of our goalies if they
- 33:26even had a bad game.
- 33:28Like he definitely has.
- 33:29Well, not a lot.
- 33:30He does not often.
- 33:31No, no, no.
- 33:32He just let him in there.
- 33:33He likes to, he likes to let the guys fight for it and then try to pull it back together
- 33:39for the team and for the group.
- 33:40Well, I mean, if we're done with goalies.
- 33:42Yeah, we might as well talk about Dean at this point.
- 33:45Let's talk about him.
- 33:46What, what does he have to do at this point to get to light a fire?
- 33:49I mean, who knows what happened at practice today other than more new line combinations?
- 33:53No, I don't know.
- 33:55Maybe maybe new line combinations.
- 33:57There was, there was a skate, I'm guessing a lot of skating, a lot of a lot of Herbie's
- 34:03lightning drills.
- 34:04It's going to be an ass.
- 34:05My assumption from my understanding, it was an ass whooping.
- 34:08I mean, you can't go eight and two or three against the stars.
- 34:11It's the team that that took you out last year in the postseason and let them just walk
- 34:15you like that, especially against all the penalties that they took, all the undisciplined
- 34:20penalties as well.
- 34:22Like don't freak.
- 34:23You know, obviously don't get me wrong.
- 34:24They went down a guy because of a five minute major in a game misconduct for, for the cross
- 34:28checking or whatever call against, I think it was Duhaime.
- 34:31But still, I mean, there's been so many slow starts this year, like first period alone.
- 34:36I think I don't know how many I've seen yet, but there's been at least a few games that
- 34:40they've had three or four shots.
- 34:43They just come completely like come out flat and it's like, like, here we go again.
- 34:49Like why this is like Mike, yo era right now.
- 34:53Like is it right now?
- 34:54I mean, like Dean or not, you know, if stuff isn't working and they continue to not work,
- 35:03I really think Dean's on the hot seat.
- 35:06I mean, we saw it with what's his name?
- 35:08Woodcraft or from the oilers.
- 35:10He just got canned.
- 35:11He go to, I think the oilers were like two and eight, like worst team in the NHL and
- 35:15they won the next night and tender.
- 35:17Yeah.
- 35:18And they saw the next game.
- 35:19Yeah.
- 35:20I, I don't know if he lost his, if he's lost the room or not or,
- 35:23Well, that's, I think that's a question you have to ask at this point because he could
- 35:30have that.
- 35:31I was literally thinking of that to myself on the way over here.
- 35:33Like I don't think he has, but it's really starting to trend that direction.
- 35:37Like our guys just not, not taking what he's saying.
- 35:41And there's a lot of, yeah, there's been so many games where they're just off to a slow,
- 35:46slow start.
- 35:48Like first period is just a dumpster fire.
- 35:51And then they come back in the second play better.
- 35:53And then you're playing catch up at that point.
- 35:56So it's really hard.
- 35:57That was to catch up.
- 35:58It's hard to win games when you're down, down a goal or two.
- 36:01But yeah, like it's, it just seems like he may have lost the room or something.
- 36:08So,
- 36:09So I, I think to that point, who just came back two games ago, your captain, if your
- 36:14captain's not in there with you guys every day playing in those games, you're left within
- 36:19three assistant captains, which was Eric Sinek, Kaprizov and Folino.
- 36:23Kaprizov obviously is learning English.
- 36:25He's way better with English and he's been speaking up a bit more.
- 36:27Eric Sinek, we know him as a little bit more of a timid player, but he will stand up for
- 36:31everybody and Folino, I think as I'm going to, I'm going to throw him in here to go over
- 36:36a Dumba spot as well, where he was very vocal.
- 36:38Every article that I read about the assistant captains when Dumba got traded out and Kaprizov
- 36:43got the A was Dumba was very, very vocal.
- 36:46Kaprizov had to fill those shoes.
- 36:47You lose Spurgeon, who was your captain, who obviously is kind of like a squeamish mouse
- 36:52at some points is not very vocal.
- 36:54We don't know what happens behind those closed doors.
- 36:56After the whooping last night was a very long closed door meeting.
- 36:59I'd love to know what happened in that meeting because right now your captains need to step
- 37:03up.
- 37:04I will give Spurgeon credit.
- 37:05Your team just gets shit on eight to three or eight to two at home on hockey fights cancer
- 37:10night and what happens after that long closed door meeting?
- 37:13Spurgeon goes out there, talks to Kevin Gorg and takes on the chin.
- 37:16He's your captain answering those hard questions.
- 37:19Wes Walls as much as everyone hates him.
- 37:21He said the exact same thing I just said and I appreciated him saying it because he's true.
- 37:25It's a hundred percent right.
- 37:26Your captain's got to be the one being vocal, stepping up there for you guys.
- 37:29And did Dean lose the room?
- 37:31Has he lost the room?
- 37:32I think he might have.
- 37:33But also who is the leadership in the group?
- 37:35You just your captain hasn't been in there for two, three weeks.
- 37:40Who do you got?
- 37:41You got Kaprizov.
- 37:42Maybe he's up there screaming.
- 37:43Which is really weird because Spurgeon isn't he's not vocal.
- 37:47And honestly, I think Maroon is pretty vocal.
- 37:50I think Folino is vocal.
- 37:51I think when Zuccarello is pissed, he's vocal and he has been kind of pissed lately, rightfully
- 37:58so.
- 37:59But yeah, like I'm just I'm disappointed with with the play that we've had so far.
- 38:03I don't think Dean's lost the room yet, but I agree.
- 38:07But it's trending.
- 38:08It's yeah, it's yeah.
- 38:10It's not looking good.
- 38:11I'll predict it here.
- 38:12This is now the second losing streak we've had this season.
- 38:15The first one was four games.
- 38:16We came back with a win.
- 38:17Now we're on three games.
- 38:19We have a few days off until was it like, I think Thursday or Friday, maybe Saturday
- 38:22when we play in Sweden, which is great.
- 38:25If we if we lose that game and come back here, maybe lose another one.
- 38:30I think Dean's gone.
- 38:31Oh, you think he's gone this early?
- 38:33I think he's gone.
- 38:34Oh, wow.
- 38:35Don't get me wrong.
- 38:36Bill Guerin has a lot of things to take on a lot of things that he has to look into.
- 38:40But right now we've got two years until our cap space is taken care of and we have a shot
- 38:44of the cup potentially because we get that money back.
- 38:47Oh, you're saying in two years.
- 38:48I was like, we have no shot at a cup.
- 38:50No, no, no.
- 38:51In two years when we get our money back for the Parisian suitor contract.
- 38:53I think in this right now, it's a lot of just make it through, make it through, make it
- 38:58through.
- 38:59Well, and that's the thing that frustrates me about all these wild pages and all this
- 39:04crap talking on BG.
- 39:06Like first off, he didn't sign suitor and Parisi to those freaking deals.
- 39:10Second off, the suitor and Parisi deals are tied for seven for the biggest NHL contracts
- 39:14of all time, of all time.
- 39:17You know who else freaking did some shit like that?
- 39:19The Chicago Blackhawks.
- 39:20They signed Patty Kane and Jonathan Tay to big deals the same year they won the cup.
- 39:26They did not win another cup after they signed both those guys to such massive deals because
- 39:30you can't build the rest of the team around them.
- 39:33You can't.
- 39:34Pittsburgh went out and won a cup after signing Crosby and Malkin to two massive deals a few
- 39:40years after they signed him.
- 39:41Crosby signed his in 13 and Malkin signed his in 14.
- 39:45But like, and they won in like 16 and 17 or 15 and 16.
- 39:48I can't, no, no, 15.
- 39:49I'm sorry.
- 39:50It was Blackhawks then Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, 16 and 17.
- 39:53But my point is, is like, it's so hard to build a team unless you have a crap ton of
- 39:58young guys.
- 39:59That's why people are so frustrated with BG signing Zucks Hartman and Fulino to such
- 40:08three, four year deals.
- 40:10Kind of bigger deals for those types of guys.
- 40:12Those are bridge deals, people.
- 40:14That's to get us through these two years and to stay competitive.
- 40:17If the Wild weren't competitive, the state would start on fire.
- 40:21It already is.
- 40:22And they're upset that we're losing.
- 40:23What do you expect?
- 40:24You can't do anything about it.
- 40:25That's where I'm at.
- 40:26What do you expect?
- 40:27And people getting mad at BG for something.
- 40:28He really had, he's trying, he was handed a mess and he's trying to clean it up.
- 40:33That's what he's trying to do with no money.
- 40:35Yeah.
- 40:36So I don't think you can do anything until those two years.
- 40:38Also building a pretty good prospect pool.
- 40:40That's what I mean.
- 40:41Him and Judd Brackett, yes.
- 40:42Like 100%.
- 40:43As much, I mean, we all want the Wild or any Minnesota sport team to win a championship
- 40:51someday.
- 40:52State of hockey.
- 40:53Allegedly.
- 40:54Now we are.
- 40:55As I was going to say, but yeah, it hurts to say it, but you guys just need patience.
- 41:06Give these younger guys to develop.
- 41:09Wait till Souter and Parisi's deal go out the door.
- 41:13And then you got the, you know, the free agent class after that looks pretty, pretty nice.
- 41:19You got Leon Dreisaitl right up there.
- 41:22Offer him the bag.
- 41:25But you can't really judge, you can't really judge Garen too much yet.
- 41:31Just because there's, you can't do a lot right now, but it'll be really interesting and fun.
- 41:39I'm going to predict the most fun when he has all this money to play with.
- 41:46No, and I 100% agree with you.
- 41:47But yes, we just have to stay patient.
- 41:50I know it hurts.
- 41:51We've been patient for 23 damn years, but there is light at the end of the tunnel here.
- 41:57And what you said, like we have a good prospect pool.
- 41:59That pool keeps gaining experience and growing.
- 42:02And then we hit the free agent market?
- 42:04Dude.
- 42:05The market has been on fire for the most part with his picks.
- 42:09Last year was a little bit weird.
- 42:11Still don't know about Straml, but we'll see how he does at Wisconsin this year.
- 42:17But yeah, other than that, he's, I mean.
- 42:20It's the fairweathers, sorry.
- 42:21But it's the fairweather fans that don't pay attention to prospects.
- 42:24They don't understand.
- 42:26They just see Minnesota wild and they live here and they're like, oh, we should be amazing
- 42:29because we're the state of hockey.
- 42:30No, we're the state of hockey because a lot of people grow up with damn skates on their
- 42:34feet.
- 42:35So I think first round picks.
- 42:36That's what I was just going to say.
- 42:37Fletcher's era.
- 42:38We traded everything.
- 42:39Right.
- 42:40Yeah.
- 42:41I think those fairweather fans are surprised because at this point they don't know what
- 42:44the hell to do with the prospects that we've got now because they're always been traded.
- 42:48To your point, it's the Fletcher era of trading everything we've got for something in the
- 42:52moment for a bridge one year, two year deal for some whatever that does nothing for us.
- 42:57And we got nothing in return.
- 42:59They go off somewhere else and they're successful elsewhere, but not here.
- 43:02So I love the fact that Garen is keeping the young bucks here trading in for more and more
- 43:06players.
- 43:07I want to see the prospect pool and Judd and those guys really be successful because then
- 43:11you get players like Kaprizov, you get players like a boldy or Rossi that maybe get looked
- 43:16over or overlooked by somebody else or maybe you can play.
- 43:18Yeah.
- 43:19I mean, you got two Russians, Russian studs coming up with Marek Kuzma, Dinov, Yurov.
- 43:25I mean, those two are the future is bright.
- 43:28Yeah, they just got to get there.
- 43:31Get out of your tunnel vision.
- 43:32We just yeah, we just got to see the bigger picture.
- 43:35You see the bigger picture and it's tough right now.
- 43:38I mean, again, around a three game losing.
- 43:39This is a second three plus game losing streak so far this season.
- 43:43So I wanted to touch on that.
- 43:44I finally found those lines that I was talking about.
- 43:47Oh, for practice, they changed it up on practice today.
- 43:49Talk to us.
- 43:50This is from your boy Russo.
- 43:51Hey, shout out, Mike Russo.
- 43:53The big he says, I'm just going to quote all of this because it's good and it's on Twitter
- 44:00X whatever.
- 44:02Russo says no, Coril Caprice off in today's wild practice.
- 44:05Nick Patan is it Patan or Patan?
- 44:07I can't remember.
- 44:08That's what I thought.
- 44:09Patan a placeholder on Coril's line.
- 44:12So the big change in practice is a reunion of last March's dominant, Yon Hanson, Ericsson
- 44:16Act, Boldy line.
- 44:17Rossi was a Corrello and Patan, Coril and then Hartman between Maroon and Foligno.
- 44:24That's a beefy line.
- 44:25I was just about to say, honestly, that's why.
- 44:28Like just leave that line.
- 44:30Yeah, Hartman.
- 44:31That's a perfect third line right there.
- 44:34Don't change that.
- 44:35That's a that's a that's a big line.
- 44:36Boy, yeah, that's a big line.
- 44:38Yeah, don't mess with that line.
- 44:40I'm not mad about that.
- 44:41Thanks, yourself for the insight.
- 44:42Yeah, as always, I know Russo is a huge fan of the Bandit with the Boys podcast.
- 44:45So great to have him contributing.
- 44:47We'll have him on here in the future.
- 44:49Hopefully.
- 44:50Funny enough, he did.
- 44:51He did shit on Kyle once.
- 44:53I did ask him what are your thoughts about Russo or what was it?
- 44:56Brodean and Faber about I said, yeah, the best the best tandem.
- 45:00Yeah, best tandem in the NHL for the defensive pairing was Brodean and Faber.
- 45:03One of the LOL.
- 45:04You wait.
- 45:05So you messaged her.
- 45:06So I said, did you?
- 45:07I didn't see it.
- 45:08And he said, I said, I said one of the best.
- 45:12Yes, not the best, but one of the best, if not potential to be the damn got an LOL from
- 45:18Russo.
- 45:19I think it's a good take.
- 45:20I love Russo.
- 45:21I mean, Russo is great.
- 45:22I like people hate on him.
- 45:23He'll just say I'll just have to wait.
- 45:24Like, I have to come on the banner and if we're so come on, step up, you know, for finally
- 45:30healthy and Brodean and Faber together, just watch out.
- 45:34Watch.
- 45:35Just watch them and we'll see.
- 45:36I mean, they're plus minus seven plus seven for Brodean plus three for Faber.
- 45:42But yeah, they've been split up through this whole mess because the defense have been struggling.
- 45:47So 10, 10 total games with those guys paired up this season in 15 games so far.
- 45:51So two thirds of the season, they've been paired up together.
- 45:53I'm not surprised to see those numbers plus seven plus three for those two guys.
- 45:57Obviously, Faber is a young buck.
- 45:59I'm not upset to see that.
- 46:00So no, and he did make that one mistake.
- 46:02I forgot what game it was.
- 46:04But it was it was that pinch.
- 46:05Yeah.
- 46:06Yeah.
- 46:07After that, though, he was like, yeah, I shouldn't have done that.
- 46:09100 percent.
- 46:10He's like, yeah, that's that's an adult.
- 46:12That's a mature hockey player as an adult decision.
- 46:15That is that is a man's taking that ass chewing for your mistake.
- 46:19And I love it.
- 46:20Own up to it.
- 46:21Tell everybody what it is.
- 46:22And that's just how it goes.
- 46:23I love it.
- 46:24So rookies make or yeah, rookies make mistakes.
- 46:26So I agree.
- 46:27I'll just learn from it.
- 46:29I agree.
- 46:30Well, boys, this has been a fun one.
- 46:32This is a good a good little stopping point here.
- 46:35Coming up next, you have the Sweden game.
- 46:37Guys are traveling playing this weekend in Sweden, bright and early 10 a.m.
- 46:41Central time.
- 46:42So make sure you got your coffee ready to go.
- 46:43Watch the boys play in Sweden.
- 46:45It's kind of a fun, fun little thing at the NHL is doing this year.
- 46:48Some overseas games.
- 46:49Well, any parting thoughts for this episode?
- 46:51No, I I'm hoping for a wild six, six, one, six, nothing win for the for the wild.
- 47:00This this next game here in Sweden.
- 47:02You got the you got Brodean in his hometown.
- 47:05You got Wallstead in his hometown, even though he's not playing.
- 47:08And then I think who was the other Swede?
- 47:10Oh, Eric's neck, Eric's neck.
- 47:12So they're nice, nice little house party in Sweden for them.
- 47:17So hopefully, hopefully a six, one win.
- 47:20That's that's my prediction.
- 47:21It'll be a fun trip.
- 47:22Smelsey, what do you think, buddy?
- 47:23Oh, I don't know.
- 47:28I was pretty bold.
- 47:29It's probably gonna be a close game.
- 47:31But I think I think I think they win.
- 47:32I think they win.
- 47:33If it's not six, one, it's it's going to be a three to four to game.
- 47:37We win.
- 47:38I just want to see improvement from the team as a whole, whether we win or lose.
- 47:44Yes, a win would obviously be an improvement.
- 47:46But depending on how we lose, it could potentially be an improvement as well.
- 47:50I just want to see our play be better.
- 47:52And stay out of the damn box and stay out of the damn box.
- 47:55I think I just saw that's another one.
- 47:56What was it?
- 47:57I put my computer away now, but I think do I do has do I my bad?
- 48:02Yeah, has 34 penalty minutes.
- 48:04Yeah, leads the team.
- 48:05He took leads the team.
- 48:06I think one last game.
- 48:08I think Akwas second at 24.
- 48:10So that's that's quite a I mean, that's come on, man.
- 48:13Get your shit together.
- 48:15Yeah.
- 48:16And if you don't take penalties, I think they're in majority of these games.
- 48:19I mean, they probably win a couple.
- 48:21Who knows?
- 48:22But yeah, they just need to stay out of the box and power play needs to be a lot better
- 48:27too.
- 48:28We can talk talk about that on next episode if it doesn't improve next game.
- 48:32But they got a score on the on the power play.
- 48:35My gosh.
- 48:36And stop giving shit up on the penalty kill at the same time.
- 48:38That's pretty much the special team.
- 48:40The game is a whole the wild need to improve on right now.
- 48:44Who would have thought, right?
- 48:46Well on that note, boys, this has been a great episode.
- 48:48Thank you guys so much for your time tonight.
