- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Red Beret has returned to radio.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Curtis Leewall guest host The Mark Simone Show on sevent ten.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Woo oh yeah, generic music upon my return, you know,
- 0:24Speaker 2: would have been appropriate, Dizzy Izzy if we to come
- 0:27Speaker 2: in with the Donna Summers classic on the radio. Huh.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I mean, the diva of all divas when I was
- 0:36Speaker 2: the whirling dervish on the dance floor at a number
- 0:40Speaker 2: of clubs. But anyway, the fact is, you come in
- 0:43Speaker 2: with generic music.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Ugh.
- 0:46Speaker 2: And by the way, as President of the United States,
- 0:49Speaker 2: announced that today is Donald Trump Day. Yet I'm sure
- 0:52Speaker 2: that's going to come up within the course of his conversation, said, Hey,
- 0:55Speaker 2: why we call it President's Day? Why don't we just
- 0:57Speaker 2: call it Donald Trump? Dey and all of his six
- 1:00Speaker 2: fans todies and lack his brilliant idea, outstanding, you the best.
- 1:06Speaker 2: You're better than George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Come on, yeah,
- 1:09Speaker 2: keep feeding that umongous ego that needs a crane to
- 1:13Speaker 2: get him in and out of the Oval office. See,
- 1:16Speaker 2: and I'm gonna hear that on talk radio. It's like
- 1:19Speaker 2: an echo chamber. I love Trump. Oh, it's sort of
- 1:23Speaker 2: like it's like a Barney song. Yeah, I hated Barney.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I had to watch Barney with my sons growing up.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And it's just I'll get to that momentarily. Yeah, we're
- 1:35Speaker 2: gonna talk about President's Day. We're gonna talk about Epstein.
- 1:40Speaker 2: One thing I do give for President Trump a lot
- 1:43Speaker 2: of credit for is opening up those files. Although Pam
- 1:48Speaker 2: Bondy was, eh, we do all on my desk. No,
- 1:51Speaker 2: they weren't. We'll get to that. Oh yeah, and oh
- 1:55Speaker 2: wait a second, wait a second was starting to open
- 1:58Speaker 2: up the investigation of what was said to be the
- 2:02Speaker 2: suicide of one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And I'm gonna let you think about d I'm just
- 2:13Speaker 2: gonna say, twenty seven, twenty seven, twenty seven, all right,
- 2:17Speaker 2: maybe you can connect the dots. We're gonna touch it all,
- 2:20Speaker 2: Zoran Man Dami. The snow is still out there and
- 2:25Speaker 2: it's turned yellow, you know from what yellow snow and
- 2:30Speaker 2: all the homeless and emotionature. Yeah, we're gonna cover it all.
- 2:35Speaker 2: But whenever I do talk radio and I come in
- 2:39Speaker 2: to studios like here a w Awar, I think of
- 2:43Speaker 2: all those people who are paved the way for so
- 2:47Speaker 2: many of us to just read talking points and get paid.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Because really, that's what talk radio has become. I'm gonna
- 2:55Speaker 2: get into that momentarily. But uh, the one thing I
- 2:59Speaker 2: noticed out of the that I watched with my wife Nancy,
- 3:02Speaker 2: the only thing I really liked. Although I liked Bad Bunny, Yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 2: I did like Bad Bunny saw on first time when
- 3:08Speaker 2: he did that duo with Drake and Puerto Rico. Good stuff.
- 3:13Speaker 2: The rest of you could have watched something else, you see,
- 3:16Speaker 2: that's the beauty of America. If you don't like what
- 3:19Speaker 2: you're watching or listening to, you have a variety of options.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You either turn it off or change the channel. Huh,
- 3:26Speaker 2: let's call variety. That's what America is. Free speech. It's
- 3:32Speaker 2: not one point of view, one way. This is the
- 3:35Speaker 2: only way you challenge authority. You question, you have curiosity,
- 3:42Speaker 2: don't just become a lemming. Unfortunately for many listen to
- 3:47Speaker 2: talk radio, that's what it's becoming. It's chased others away.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But I pay tribute first to Bernard McGirk. Every time
- 3:55Speaker 2: I did talk radio at WABC, the ecroonym stood for
- 3:59Speaker 2: Olwish Broadcasting Curtis thirty five years I would give a
- 4:03Speaker 2: tribute to Bernard McGirk because unfortunately he passed away in
- 4:07Speaker 2: twenty twenty two at sixty four, should never have died.
- 4:11Speaker 2: He didn't take a PSA test, the simple prick of
- 4:13Speaker 2: the finger. So if we're gonna achieve anything in these
- 4:15Speaker 2: two hours, maybe we can save some lives out there.
- 4:19Speaker 2: There was this one commercial as amazed, I saw Glankowski
- 4:24Speaker 2: tight end and so another guy think was George Kittle
- 4:28Speaker 2: sitting there actual tight ends who played in the NFL.
- 4:33Speaker 2: And it said a PSA test will allow a man
- 4:37Speaker 2: to relax his tight end. And I said, man, this
- 4:41Speaker 2: is good because one in eight men will be diagnosed
- 4:45Speaker 2: with prostate cancer. And unfortunately, even though there are a
- 4:48Speaker 2: lot of remedies now, that didn't exist when I had
- 4:51Speaker 2: stage four prostate cancer and unfortunately I had my prostate
- 4:55Speaker 2: out there weren't other remedies. I'm still paying the price today.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Bernard McGirk lost his life because he didn't get a
- 5:05Speaker 2: simple prick of the finger of blood test. Please, wherever
- 5:09Speaker 2: you are listening to this show today, there's nothing more
- 5:12Speaker 2: important than saving lives. We're going to talk about that
- 5:14Speaker 2: later on when we talk about Jeron Mondomi. His inability
- 5:17Speaker 2: to save the lives of homeless and emotionally disturbed persons
- 5:20Speaker 2: that froze to death. I know I was personally out
- 5:23Speaker 2: there with the Guardian Angels. You can check all of
- 5:25Speaker 2: that out on my social networking. Well, we paid tribute
- 5:29Speaker 2: to him because I remember the day he died. WABC
- 5:33Speaker 2: was never the same, never the same as he is.
- 5:34Speaker 2: He You were there, you remember that guy Knew talk radio.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Unfortunately for the others who remain, it's like a repetition
- 5:44Speaker 2: over and over, the same show, over and over and over.
- 5:49Speaker 2: The other one, naturally, I have to pay tribute to
- 5:51Speaker 2: is the king of all talk radio, Bob Grant. Nobody
- 5:54Speaker 2: was better. Not only was he enlightening and toltless things
- 5:58Speaker 2: we didn't know, but most important, he was entertaining. He
- 6:03Speaker 2: would give you a good belly laugh. When's the last
- 6:05Speaker 2: time you had a really good belly laugh listening to
- 6:07Speaker 2: Talk Creative, I'll tell you I get migraines. I got
- 6:11Speaker 2: a flip to EDM electronic dance music with my wife. Oh,
- 6:16Speaker 2: host of DM song starting with Chainsmokers. Don't let me down.
- 6:20Speaker 2: A lot of you did in the election. I don't
- 6:22Speaker 2: want to hear that tizzy issy people come up to me.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I vote a few. If all the people came up
- 6:26Speaker 2: to me voted for me, I would have been mayor
- 6:28Speaker 2: of the City of New York and we would have
- 6:29Speaker 2: been in better shape at this point. No, we'll get
- 6:31Speaker 2: to that later on. And then, of course this thing
- 6:36Speaker 2: of ours, talk radio was created by and when I
- 6:40Speaker 2: say talk radio, I mean taking calls from people you
- 6:46Speaker 2: never heard before in the radio, not the same old callers.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Oh my Dona, my door. I got to listen to
- 6:52Speaker 2: that guy a gala again. It's like since one day
- 6:56Speaker 2: a part of the show. How about allowing new peace
- 7:00Speaker 2: people will call in? Do you know that less than
- 7:02Speaker 2: one percent of people listen to talk radio in their
- 7:05Speaker 2: whole lives? Less than one percent of called in. And
- 7:08Speaker 2: it's the same people over and over again. And dizzy Isy,
- 7:12Speaker 2: when we open up the phones today, you better not
- 7:14Speaker 2: be taking the same old callers. Or let me just say,
- 7:19Speaker 2: you will feel vibrations from me that will rock you
- 7:23Speaker 2: from your toes to your nose. Good talk radio. A
- 7:29Speaker 2: lot of callers different who disagree with you. Not just
- 7:35Speaker 2: a love fast. Remember how I said, Parney, You know,
- 7:38Speaker 2: listening to the echo chamberon Oh I Love You, I
- 7:40Speaker 2: Love you, I remember I used to look at that
- 7:43Speaker 2: purple monster up there. I love you, you love me.
- 7:47Speaker 2: We're a happy family with a great big hug. And
- 7:50Speaker 2: it kissed from me to you. Won't you say you
- 7:53Speaker 2: love me too? If I had a forty four magnum,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I would have shot him right there and at our caa.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I think it was in ours a TV. Remember Elvis
- 8:01Speaker 2: did that, Yeah, that's right, Elvis did that in Memphis.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And then Talk told Red, hey go out and get
- 8:06Speaker 2: me a new TV. He didn't like something on TV.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Took out. I think it was twenty two or thirty eight.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Bam, that's what I felt like. It's like an echo chamber.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Where's the different thoughts we are, the different people challenging
- 8:22Speaker 3: what you just said. That's that's what must change.
- 8:28Speaker 2: And you know where talk radio, real talk radio was
- 8:30Speaker 2: created right here? Wor Did you know that this he
- 8:35Speaker 2: is he? Most people don't know that. They have no
- 8:38Speaker 2: idea how talk radio got started. Well, it was very
- 8:40Speaker 2: gray right here, WI. This was the DJ at night.
- 8:44Speaker 2: All of a sudden, Woody Herman called in after he
- 8:47Speaker 2: played a Woody Herman song and the suits were listening
- 8:49Speaker 2: and say, hey, that's pretty good. And then he started
- 8:54Speaker 2: letting callers, normal average everyday people call. Oh that's even better,
- 9:01Speaker 2: that's our talk radio started. If you're not taking calls,
- 9:05Speaker 2: then it's a mini podcast. Guests oo far with these guests,
- 9:11Speaker 2: you hear them, you know, I sample talk radio at night.
- 9:14Speaker 2: You can get in on the podcast when I finish
- 9:16Speaker 2: a long workday. My wife says to me, are you
- 9:19Speaker 2: a masochist?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I mean you really you must loathe yourself to have
- 9:24Speaker 1: to listen to the same discussions with the same guests
- 9:29Speaker 1: on four or five different formats.
- 9:31Speaker 2: You see him on Fox News and see it, and
- 9:34Speaker 2: then you hear them on the radio. It's the same.
- 9:36Speaker 2: They never break stride. Guess so far, any guests you
- 9:41Speaker 2: got callers and obviously the host the hostess gotta do
- 9:46Speaker 2: preparation show prep. Yeah, two hours of prep for one
- 9:50Speaker 2: every one hour on the air. That means I have
- 9:53Speaker 2: to relate to you the listeners, things that maybe you
- 9:56Speaker 2: didn't know. So even if you don't like my opinion,
- 9:59Speaker 2: you know, likewise, maybe if you learn something. We just
- 10:03Speaker 2: did that announcement, the PSA test is gonna save people's lives.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And you didn't have to hear it at PSA format.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You heard it from your truly critics who had stage
- 10:12Speaker 2: four prostate cancer. So a lot of people who have
- 10:15Speaker 2: said to me, well, what are you gonna do? What
- 10:18Speaker 2: are you gonna do? Now? It's three months after the election,
- 10:22Speaker 2: November fourth, little more than three months, and I gotta
- 10:26Speaker 2: tell you a lot of people would tell me, forget,
- 10:28Speaker 2: don't go back to talk radio. You've done it thirty
- 10:30Speaker 2: five years. Nobody did it better in New York City
- 10:32Speaker 2: other than the king of talk radio, Bob Grant. Come on,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I don't even come close. But it turns a longevity.
- 10:40Speaker 2: And of course the great Mark Simone, no doubt about it. Man,
- 10:42Speaker 2: that guy's a smooth operator. Every time I hear Mark
- 10:45Speaker 2: on the air, I think of that shad Ay song classic.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I first heard it in the eighties and London outside
- 10:50Speaker 2: of Array when I was patrolling with the Cardian Angels
- 10:53Speaker 2: said smooth operator by Shade Man. He is the smoothest.
- 10:59Speaker 2: But I have determined, after consulting with the best thing
- 11:03Speaker 2: that ever happened in my life, and I have restated
- 11:06Speaker 2: that a number of times. On Valentine's Day, you may
- 11:09Speaker 2: have seen my post and Nancy's post. We did it
- 11:13Speaker 2: with Tiny, who was a cat and Nancy rescued from
- 11:18Speaker 2: a hoarding situation who would not socialize. We took pictures.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Boy Tiny has assimilated with so many other cats that
- 11:26Speaker 2: my wife and others out there have rescued over the
- 11:28Speaker 2: years and then either forced them out or adopted them out.
- 11:33Speaker 2: The best thing that ever happened in my life. You know,
- 11:36Speaker 2: people have wanted me to do videos podcasting, a lot
- 11:39Speaker 2: of gen z's and millennials now following me. They invited
- 11:43Speaker 2: me to Yale University right for debate seven different groups
- 11:47Speaker 2: that went from conservatives to progressives to DSSA. And I
- 11:52Speaker 2: came out of there after two and a half hours
- 11:54Speaker 2: and they were saying, well, you're the uniter, and now
- 11:56Speaker 2: who's lining up? We got Harvard, we got Princeton lining up,
- 11:59Speaker 2: we got corn Now, we got Queen's College, we got Hopshow,
- 12:02Speaker 2: we got others. And so the millennials in gend esze
- 12:06Speaker 2: is to say, yeah, well where can we find you
- 12:08Speaker 2: wick it? They don't listen to talk radio. Come on,
- 12:10Speaker 2: let's be honest, right, come on, dizzy is he they
- 12:12Speaker 2: don't listen to talk right? If it's people fifty five plus?
- 12:17Speaker 2: And some people say, well, do the podcast for the
- 12:20Speaker 2: millennials in gend zee Is. They have an insatiable appetite
- 12:23Speaker 2: to find out more about what you do, Curtis and
- 12:27Speaker 2: all the things you've been through, which y'all a lot.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I said, yeah, yeah, I can't do that. But the
- 12:36Speaker 2: other day my wife said, Valentine, say, he said, you
- 12:39Speaker 2: got a mission. You know, everywhere we go, people who
- 12:43Speaker 2: are your age, Curtis, because she's millennial, your age, say hey,
- 12:47Speaker 2: would you come back and save talk radio? That's what
- 12:50Speaker 2: they say. This he is he because I gotta tell you,
- 12:54Speaker 2: especially those who used to listen to WABC, they'll tell me, hey,
- 12:58Speaker 2: I missed listening to you you on seventy seven WABC.
- 13:01Speaker 2: You will never hear my voice on there again, because
- 13:04Speaker 2: they're always backstabbing me, blaming me for Mondami's win, bashing me.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I listen less and less to WABC and turn into
- 13:14Speaker 2: other stations. But I listened less and less to talk
- 13:18Speaker 2: radio in general, and I understand it. And speaking of WABC,
- 13:23Speaker 2: they seem to have gone out of their way to
- 13:25Speaker 2: find anybody who loves to bash or blame Curtis to
- 13:29Speaker 2: bring on the radio. Andrew evilized Cuomo Wright. Hey, Andrew,
- 13:33Speaker 2: I said, Tom, he too, so you prove your know
- 13:35Speaker 2: spatci man, you are boring radio. But he loves to
- 13:39Speaker 2: bash me. Now they're bringing on Frnando Matel, who I
- 13:43Speaker 2: beat in the Republican primary for mayor in twenty twenty one. Yeah,
- 13:46Speaker 2: this he is because he's promised for two hours he's
- 13:49Speaker 2: gonna do nothing but bash Curtis and blame Curtis for
- 13:52Speaker 2: zorn Mondamis. And no doubt soon they'll bring the crypto
- 13:58Speaker 2: criminal himself, the blockchain man best known for crime Coin
- 14:03Speaker 2: aka bitcoin, Eric Adams Swagerman with no plan. By the way,
- 14:07Speaker 2: where did that million dollars go? Eric? First? Out of
- 14:11Speaker 2: the box? You know, the token token New York City.
- 14:13Speaker 2: That nonsense, A million dollars disappeared. But they'll probably give
- 14:16Speaker 2: me a job too, and it'll be one big echo chamber.
- 14:21Speaker 2: So stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen. It's time for me
- 14:26Speaker 2: to get back into the mix of talk radio in
- 14:30Speaker 2: addition to all the other things that I'm doing. Because
- 14:33Speaker 2: it's twenty hours out of a twenty four hour day,
- 14:36Speaker 2: I don't stop. I'm in the subways and I'm in
- 14:40Speaker 2: the streets, and none of the rest of them are.
- 14:43Speaker 2: So now, as a tribute to real talk radio. You
- 14:48Speaker 2: have a chance to be heard. I don't want to
- 14:50Speaker 2: hear the same old voices, the same old names for
- 14:54Speaker 2: some of you. I've seen you out there. I can
- 14:56Speaker 2: put a face to the name. Don't want to hear
- 14:58Speaker 2: that new new, new, new, because I know you're out there.
- 15:02Speaker 2: One eight hundred three two one zero seven ten acts
- 15:07Speaker 2: one eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. And
- 15:10Speaker 2: please don't thank me for taking your call. I'm giving
- 15:13Speaker 2: you numbers out hey, er, could he thank you for
- 15:16Speaker 2: taking my call? You think I even know who you are? Oh?
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah it is Joe. I know Joe. Come on your call.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You're in a queue. We take you by the queue.
- 15:27Speaker 2: There's no favoritism. It's not like other talk shows. You know.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Oh I know this guy. Yeah, he gave me a
- 15:33Speaker 2: free meal. I better put him on. Oh yeah. The
- 15:35Speaker 2: schnorer is in this business. They shnore everything anything you
- 15:38Speaker 2: put in front of them. They snore one eight hundred
- 15:41Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. Up next, did they
- 15:44Speaker 2: call it Donald Trump Day yet? Is he demanding that
- 15:48Speaker 2: in the oval office? And we'll talk about President stay
- 15:52Speaker 2: should have stayed. George Washington and then Abraham Lincoln day
- 15:57Speaker 2: and eliminate the other wh
