- 0:00Speaker 1: We're talking Olympics here with you, and I brought that
- 0:02Speaker 1: up because he's watching them. We're talking about Franz Klamber
- 0:04Speaker 1: in the downhill and now we're getting in the skeleton.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Helton is just the one you jump on and you're like,
- 0:08Speaker 2: guess you know, and bob sled and they hold like this.
- 0:11Speaker 2: They don't go like that because the winds cher would
- 0:13Speaker 2: be will slow you down. So they're down there like that.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And isn't there like a two man lose? Yes? How
- 0:19Speaker 2: does that work? I don't know? Can you imagine that?
- 0:23Speaker 1: I didn't even know they had a way.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm going down in the sledge jump on me.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I didn't even realize they had a one person bob
- 0:27Speaker 1: sled competition.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I didn't American one. I he wanted to go back
- 0:31Speaker 2: to the American one today. Yeah, I think about that.
- 0:34Speaker 2: How about that? Yeah? I love it.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Speaking of the Americans, the women's hockey team, they're really good.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I heard they'll play Canada on Thursday for the gold. Uh,
- 0:42Speaker 1: Villanova's coming up, and you said block is coming back.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Villanova since playing Yukon is seven and one. They've won
- 0:48Speaker 1: six straight. Beat crating on Sunday with a big second half.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Bosco's good, Curry's good. The freshman Henry, she's really good.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Denise has another good club. And look, you know, you
- 1:01Speaker 1: don't know what's gonna happen around. Philly is a tough other,
- 1:03Speaker 1: tough place to play, but seemingly as long as they
- 1:06Speaker 1: take care of their business, they're gonna be the other
- 1:08Speaker 1: NCAA team.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah, right now, I checked one. I think they have
- 1:13Speaker 2: them as like a ten seed probably, yeah, yeah, like
- 1:16Speaker 2: a ten seed. And now, you know, we need more
- 1:19Speaker 2: good teams in the Big East. I mean, this is
- 1:22Speaker 2: the worst Big East League in the history of the
- 1:25Speaker 2: Big East men and women. The men are slightly better,
- 1:31Speaker 2: not much. They have two teams in the top twenty five.
- 1:35Speaker 2: We have one. You know, so it's never been this
- 1:41Speaker 2: tragic in the league. And you know, you you remember
- 1:52Speaker 2: what it used to be like. You remember how it's
- 1:58Speaker 2: just incredibly difful goal it was to get wins. And
- 2:07Speaker 2: I'm always trying to talk to our coaches about how
- 2:12Speaker 2: do we you know, how do we do this, how
- 2:14Speaker 2: do we get better? How do we get more teams
- 2:16Speaker 2: in the NCAA tournament? You know, how can we attract
- 2:20Speaker 2: more good players? And it's a it's a it's a
- 2:24Speaker 2: little bit of an uphill battle, especially in the world
- 2:26Speaker 2: now revenue sharing and stuff like that. You know, you
- 2:31Speaker 2: get you get a kid like Basco who was a
- 2:33Speaker 2: freshman last year Freshman of the Year. No Sarah was.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think if we weren't in the league, she's the
- 2:40Speaker 2: best player. She's the best player in the league. I
- 2:42Speaker 2: think without us in the league, she's the best player
- 2:45Speaker 2: in the league. A lot of times those kids would
- 2:49Speaker 2: leave for more money, something just like Lucy Olsen did, right.
- 2:52Speaker 2: The kid have going over. You know, somebody comes along
- 2:55Speaker 2: offers them a lot of money, or they think, oh,
- 2:57Speaker 2: I can go play in a better league, I can
- 2:58Speaker 2: be on national television more so. You know, recruiting really
- 3:03Speaker 2: good players is hard in the Big East. Keeping them
- 3:06Speaker 2: as hard, you know, and you're starting to see that,
- 3:12Speaker 2: you know. I looked at even on the men's side.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I looked at the top twenty five on the men's side,
- 3:18Speaker 2: and I think last time I checked, there were either
- 3:20Speaker 2: four or five of the twenty five that were not
- 3:29Speaker 2: those power for football schools. So it's kind of like
- 3:35Speaker 2: little by little, you know, they're doing everything they can
- 3:38Speaker 2: to kind of push us, you know, aside, and you know,
- 3:43Speaker 2: we've got to you know, I was like at Yukon,
- 3:46Speaker 2: we've been able to do it, you know, the men
- 3:47Speaker 2: have we have. Everybody else is kind of like, you know,
- 3:52Speaker 2: up and down. Yeah, I think going over men will
- 3:54Speaker 2: be back.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they're probably the third best team.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Kevin Kevin Willard's terrific. I mean, they were, they
- 4:01Speaker 2: would probably get in, you know, if they keep playing
- 4:03Speaker 2: the way they're playing. But right now, on the men's side,
- 4:05Speaker 2: they only have two. If the season ended right now,
- 4:08Speaker 2: they would have Yukon and Saint John's and we would
- 4:12Speaker 2: have you kind of billing o. So hopefully, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: some of these teams keep winning and maybe we each
- 4:19Speaker 2: get you know, a couple more in or women.
- 4:21Speaker 1: You know, are they scheduling out of conference as well
- 4:25Speaker 1: as you do? I mean, I know Tony Bazilla has
- 4:27Speaker 1: tried to up in a little bit at Seaton Hall.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think they they're trying to. It's
- 4:34Speaker 2: just it's hard for them to get games, you know,
- 4:38Speaker 2: so a lot of times they have to win on
- 4:40Speaker 2: the road. And Saint John's beat Oklahoma State, it was ranked.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Then they lose to De Paul who has six wins.
- 4:53Speaker 2: So you know, I think you you get caught in
- 4:58Speaker 2: a situation where you might not be able to beat
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yu Khon or you can't be Villanova. But at the
- 5:04Speaker 2: same time, it's a tough spot. You can't lose to
- 5:07Speaker 2: the teams below you because the games you lose. I
- 5:12Speaker 2: don't know if you know how the NCAA tournament works.
- 5:14Speaker 2: The games you win are okay, that's great, but the teams,
- 5:18Speaker 2: the games you lose, is what knocks you out of
- 5:20Speaker 2: the tournament. So you could say, hey, look what we
- 5:23Speaker 2: beat We beat them then then then yeah, but you
- 5:25Speaker 2: lost to these guys, these guys, and these guys like
- 5:28Speaker 2: you're not going to make the tournament.
- 5:29Speaker 1: That's kind of what happened to the baseball team this
- 5:31Speaker 1: last spring.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You cannot lose to teams that are down the road,
- 5:35Speaker 2: down the bracket, or down the standings from you. You cannot, right,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you cannot. You don't have to beat the top guys,
- 5:42Speaker 2: but you can't lose to those guys, right, And that's
- 5:45Speaker 2: what happens in our league. They all kind of beat
- 5:47Speaker 2: each other all the time. Some people just need to
- 5:50Speaker 2: lose on purpose so we can get more people in
- 5:52Speaker 2: the tournament.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Back with Geno in a minute. We're live at the
- 5:55Speaker 1: Hollywood Manchester Country Club. We're listening on Learfield. Stay with
- 5:58Speaker 1: us on this Monday night.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Thanks for jo Mis
