- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode of Long
- 0:14Speaker 2: Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and today
- 0:18Speaker 2: we're discussing Christmas in Tahoe from Hallmark's Mary Thanksgiving Weekend,
- 0:23Speaker 2: part of their Countdown to Christmas series of forty movies
- 0:27Speaker 2: this year, and we are three movies in to a
- 0:31Speaker 2: four movie series this week alone.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Are you tired yet, well, considering at the time of
- 0:39Speaker 1: this recording it's not even December first yet, and I'm like,
- 0:43Speaker 1: my yeah, I'm tired.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Well, if you like this podcast, we would love it
- 0:49Speaker 2: if you would leave us a five star rating or review.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It's really easy to do, and you can visit Megan

- 1:08Speaker 2: dot com slash podcast and all of our show notes
- 1:11Speaker 2: are there, carefully written by Wendy every week chuck full
- 1:15Speaker 2: of information about what we're talking about and even more.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, even more stuff like that doesn't make the podcast
- 1:22Speaker 1: so you know, if you're looking for information on these movies, hey,
- 1:27Speaker 1: we're your source.
- 1:29Speaker 2: As mentioned today, we're discussing Christmas in Tahoe and Wendy
- 1:32Speaker 2: hit us up with a synopsis.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Ah shit, I know it seems like a bit every time,
- 1:37Speaker 1: but like I honestly forget Okay. To save her family's hotels,
- 1:43Speaker 1: Christmas Show talent booker Claire Musk asks for help from
- 1:47Speaker 1: her ex boyfriend, Ryan, the lead guitarist of a now
- 1:50Speaker 1: famous band that fired her as their manager years ago.
- 1:55Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: That's all it says. You know, these synopses need a
- 1:59Speaker 1: little work because a lot more happens in this movie.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I agree.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Before we get into that, let's talk about some news
- 2:06Speaker 2: and notes, and I have far more than I usually
- 2:08Speaker 2: do for this particular movie.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Hit me with it. This was not shot in Tahoe.
- 2:13Speaker 2: It's rather shot in Vancouver, as were the vast majority
- 2:17Speaker 2: of this year's Countdown to Christmas movies, and it was
- 2:21Speaker 2: written by Nina Weinman, who is a prolific Hallmark movie writer.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And she has not one, but two Holiday movies in
- 2:31Speaker 2: this series.
- 2:33Speaker 1: What's her second Holiday movie this year?
- 2:36Speaker 2: Missus Miracle Christmas and I have not watched that, although
- 2:39Speaker 2: I do have it recorded. There are only so many
- 2:41Speaker 2: hours in the day. And I have heard great things.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I have seen some fellow Hallmark podcasters and Hallmark movie
- 2:50Speaker 2: fans doing their rankings of the movies this year, and
- 2:52Speaker 2: many of them are putting a Missus Miracle Christmas up
- 2:55Speaker 2: toward the top of their list, and its stars Caroline
- 2:59Speaker 2: Ray and I really enjoy her.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So that is going to be my next non reviewing watch.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Just was that enjoyment?
- 3:10Speaker 3: Was that on movies and mysteries? Yes? Oh, interesting and interesting?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Well, if there's so much hype around it, I might
- 3:18Speaker 1: I might set the old recorder for that one too. Yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I mean, even though I'm desperately dying for a Hallmark
- 3:25Speaker 1: Christmas movie break, I don't know. Sometimes when somebody says
- 3:28Speaker 1: something's good, I'm easily influenced. Let me ask you, have
- 3:32Speaker 1: you ever been to Lake Tahoe.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I have.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I've never been there, and I know it's on like
- 3:37Speaker 1: it's it's in California right or on the California Nevada border.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Somewhere there's a California side and the Nevada side.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Uh. Is there usually that much snow?
- 3:48Speaker 1: Like they showed in this it's a huge ski destination, okay,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but only isn't similar to what they portrayed in the movie,
- 3:59Speaker 1: is that like people only go there during like the
- 4:02Speaker 1: snowy season and other times it's kind of desolate. Well,
- 4:06Speaker 1: there's a no because it's a lake. So the lake
- 4:08Speaker 1: has a summer season and there are casinos. So I
- 4:14Speaker 1: do think it is probably most popular in the winter.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But it's definitely a year round destination. There's hiking and
- 4:20Speaker 1: there's water sports on the lake. I have only been
- 4:24Speaker 1: in the winter, okay, So the storyline that there is
- 4:28Speaker 1: no need for year round entertainment at this resort is
- 4:31Speaker 1: kind of bogus.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I think it's definitely winter is its high season.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Speaking of Nina Weinman.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yeah, So on Instagram this weekend, I had noticed that
- 4:47Speaker 1: the mom and dad in this movie also where the
- 4:52Speaker 1: mom and dad in the Tyler Hines an Unexpected Christmas movie, Yes,
- 4:58Speaker 1: which is so funny to me, So I had asked
- 5:01Speaker 1: because I needed confirmation obviously, so I asked on Instagram, like, Hey,
- 5:06Speaker 1: are these the same actors? And Nina responded and she said,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I haven't seen an Unexpected Christmas yet. That would be
- 5:15Speaker 1: so funny and so Vancouver. So that's kind of cute, right,
- 5:21Speaker 1: And I told her that, you know, I was liking
- 5:23Speaker 1: the movie. This was like Midwatch. I was like, I
- 5:25Speaker 1: like the movie and I love the music, and she said, well,
- 5:28Speaker 1: some of it is mine. But I had to let
- 5:30Speaker 1: go of this one since the production happened at the
- 5:33Speaker 1: same time as two others. But the new writers did
- 5:37Speaker 1: a great job well.
- 5:40Speaker 2: So we had seen on Instagram that she was working
- 5:43Speaker 2: on a Missus Miracle Christmas. She was on location for that,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and so I could see how she would need to
- 5:48Speaker 2: focus her time. I don't know what the other one was,
- 5:51Speaker 2: perhaps she was January movie. But yeah, I will say
- 5:57Speaker 2: that you made the comment about the parents being the
- 5:59Speaker 2: same from an Unexpected Christmas. The mom is played by
- 6:02Speaker 2: Linda Boyd, but she is not credited on the Christmas
- 6:05Speaker 2: in Tahoe IMDb. And the dad, I do not know
- 6:08Speaker 2: the actor's name because he is not credited on either
- 6:11Speaker 2: the Christmas in Tahoe or the Unexpected Christmas IMDb.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Okay, so I did receive another DM from one of
- 6:21Speaker 1: our followers and she said the dad for sure is
- 6:24Speaker 1: played by Paul mcgillan on Tahoe and Unexpected. The mom
- 6:30Speaker 1: from Unexpected is Linda Boyd, but I can't tell if
- 6:33Speaker 1: that's her in Tahoe. So well, i've either an actress
- 6:39Speaker 1: that is her or someone who looks a lot like her.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Well, yeah, Linda Boyd is not credited, and I don't
- 6:45Speaker 2: believe there's an actress who plays the mom who is
- 6:47Speaker 2: credited on IMDb.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Well, it's why wouldn't they give them like credit for
- 6:51Speaker 1: that they have speaking lines? Like it.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Could have just been because sometimes I go to look
- 6:59Speaker 2: for an I listing a few days before these are
- 7:01Speaker 2: out and there isn't one. So it could be that
- 7:04Speaker 2: these are done down to the wire and they're just
- 7:06Speaker 2: getting the bare bones information and perhaps they will go
- 7:08Speaker 2: back in and add that. But I don't know the
- 7:10Speaker 2: answer to.
- 7:11Speaker 1: That, because you know, it's like some assistant on there
- 7:14Speaker 1: adding all that information to IMDb. So it's not like
- 7:17Speaker 1: the production company is doing that or whatever. You know,
- 7:21Speaker 1: some low level, unpaid assistant is doing it. And I'll
- 7:26Speaker 1: tell you as someone who adds a lot of stuff
- 7:28Speaker 1: to IMDb, it is not user friendly, so you know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: it takes some time and as a little pain in
- 7:34Speaker 1: the butt to navigate. So I understand if all those
- 7:37Speaker 1: actors aren't added yet.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Pat Monahan of Train Train had a twenty fifteen holiday
- 7:43Speaker 2: album called Christmas in Tahoe, and he said that he
- 7:48Speaker 2: was very happy to see that album come to life
- 7:49Speaker 2: in this movie. Although I don't necessarily believe that the
- 7:52Speaker 2: album was about a hotel events planner who struggles, but
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm sure he loved to see the title of his
- 7:59Speaker 2: album come to life in a movie. And he performs
- 8:03Speaker 2: two songs in this movie, shake Up Christmas and the
- 8:06Speaker 2: new original song Mittens. You love Pat Wanahan.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I love his voice.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I mean, every single one of his songs is made
- 8:16Speaker 1: up of like cliches, you know what I mean? Uh huh,
- 8:20Speaker 1: But I do love his voice. And my quick story
- 8:23Speaker 1: my dad had seen him like live at some point,
- 8:26Speaker 1: like at a very small event, and he was like
- 8:28Speaker 1: the guest singer. It wasn't Train, it was just Pat Monahan,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and my dad said, he is just incredible live.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I don't know if the listeners here know this, but
- 8:40Speaker 2: my husband goes to many concerts a year, and like
- 8:44Speaker 2: typically twenty in a year, and has seen Train perform
- 8:48Speaker 2: and says the same thing that they are fantastic. Pat
- 8:51Speaker 2: Monahan himself is fantastic live so information for you. Kyle
- 8:57Speaker 2: Celeg who plays Ryan in this movie, will also be
- 9:00Speaker 2: string later this year in Real Housewives of North Pole,
- 9:03Speaker 2: a Christmas movie on Peacock, also starring Kyle Richards.
- 9:09Speaker 3: What is this movie?
- 9:11Speaker 1: I have not heard any It's as spoof on Housewives
- 9:14Speaker 1: for christ.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Well, it's a movie that takes place in a town
- 9:19Speaker 2: called north Pole, Vermont, and I do believe it is
- 9:22Speaker 2: a spoof on housewives.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I don't know much, but it will be on Peacock
- 9:26Speaker 1: and Kyle Richards is playing herself or she's playing a housewife.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't the North Pole. I think she's playing a housewife.
- 9:34Speaker 1: There's a yes playing missus Claus.
- 9:39Speaker 2: They're they're in a town called north Pole, Vermont.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I get it. I know this is funny. It's gonna
- 9:47Speaker 1: be on this year. I'm sometimes soon this year. I
- 9:51Speaker 1: will leave showtimes in the show notes because I definitely
- 9:55Speaker 1: want to watch that one.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no showtimes. It's streaming, but release dates.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Okay, fine, call me out for not being a millennial.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Thank you so much.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And finally, we have Laura Astins, who we recently saw
- 10:10Speaker 2: and raise a glass to love. And last year, since
- 10:12Speaker 2: we are in the holiday season, she was in Run
- 10:15Speaker 2: One Royal Holiday, which was a movie that I actually
- 10:18Speaker 2: very much enjoyed last year. It was not when that
- 10:20Speaker 2: we reviewed on the podcast, but that was a Julie
- 10:23Speaker 2: Sherman wolf movie and that was a real heartstring tuggerh
- 10:28Speaker 2: for me.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that one. Don't love Laura.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Ausiness's anti vax dance. But we're letting some things go
- 10:38Speaker 2: today because we are also recording an episode with Candace
- 10:42Speaker 2: Cameron Brat, who has her own vaccine thoughts.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So it's a theme. Yeah, I will tell you watching
- 10:49Speaker 1: this movie was hard to like put that out of
- 10:52Speaker 1: my mind, you know. And it also made me wonder
- 10:57Speaker 1: what Canada's rule are on vaccines. I'm guessing she probably
- 11:02Speaker 1: had to quarantine for how many days or whatever, but
- 11:08Speaker 1: is there a working situation there not required? Vaccines are
- 11:12Speaker 1: not required. I don't know how they.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Must not be at this point, but I do know
- 11:16Speaker 2: that they all do quarantine upon arrival, and I would
- 11:20Speaker 2: imagine they have a pretty extensive testing system in place.
- 11:25Speaker 2: But if she were required to be vaccinated, she wouldn't
- 11:27Speaker 2: be in the movie. So yeah, neither would Queen of
- 11:33Speaker 2: Christmas herself. Candice Cameron Berret.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I know, well, there's a network waiting for them if
- 11:38Speaker 1: they indeed ever make those changes.
- 11:41Speaker 2: You know, was your first impression of this Pat Monahan banger?
- 11:47Speaker 3: I don't know, that's just it. This was a Pet
- 11:50Speaker 3: monta hand banger.
- 11:52Speaker 1: He loved it. It lived I like expectations. I really
- 11:56Speaker 1: liked the music, to be honest, we don't get a
- 11:59Speaker 1: lot of like homework movies with like that have a
- 12:02Speaker 1: you know, contemporary musical flair to it, so I enjoyed
- 12:08Speaker 1: that part of it.
- 12:10Speaker 2: My first impression is this movie was better than I
- 12:13Speaker 2: anticipated that it would be. I went in with very
- 12:17Speaker 2: low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought they might be leaning too hard on
- 12:26Speaker 1: the big name.
- 12:27Speaker 2: For this movie, but I don't think they did. So
- 12:30Speaker 2: let's talk about what we liked.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Who's the big name, Pat Monahan?
- 12:34Speaker 2: That's the draw here, don't you think? Come watch this
- 12:36Speaker 2: movie with megastar Pat Monahan.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I don't know if I would consider him megastar. It's
- 12:44Speaker 1: not like it's Justin Bieber, you know what I mean?
- 12:47Speaker 1: Has Pat wanted to hand ever acted in anything else.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I don't think he is a draw. I think Laura
- 12:54Speaker 1: Onnes or whatever her name is, is a draw.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Onus Train has sold over ten million albums worldwide.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I don't know if he's a draw.
- 13:06Speaker 1: He's not a draw for me. That's not why I
- 13:08Speaker 1: wanted to watch that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Justin Bieber has sold more than seventy million albums worldwide.
- 13:13Speaker 3: What Holy Molly.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Pat Monahannas has forty five acting credits on IMDb.
- 13:20Speaker 3: What did not know?
- 13:22Speaker 1: There's a lot of like music videos. He was on
- 13:26Speaker 1: the comedy show Doctor Ken for an episode Hawaii five oh, nine,
- 13:35Speaker 1: oh two, one oh this series? What that must have
- 13:37Speaker 1: been the like remake the twenty twelve Well, you know whatever,
- 13:45Speaker 1: maybe he was the draw. Okay, what did you like
- 13:51Speaker 1: about this movie? You know, I kind of like the
- 13:56Speaker 1: storyline a little bit. I here's my problem is, I
- 14:01Speaker 1: was having like irrational feelings towards the.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Term variety show for some reason that.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Very dated, like the Very Bunch very seventies. Yeah, so
- 14:18Speaker 1: I was.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Like, why do they keep calling it variety show? This
- 14:22Speaker 3: is a concert, you know.
- 14:23Speaker 1: What I mean? Well, because they had the comedian that
- 14:26Speaker 1: made it a variety show.
- 14:28Speaker 2: But yeah, a holiday extravaganza performance. I don't know, comedy
- 14:35Speaker 2: and concert, I.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Don't know. Yeah, I get you. I just for some reason,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I was like Variety show anyway, I liked that part
- 14:44Speaker 1: of the storyline. Well, I'll save it for what I
- 14:49Speaker 1: wished for. So I liked I liked the that part.
- 14:53Speaker 3: What did you like?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Well, I've got lots of little things that I enjoyed.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I thought, there's a moment where they're dining out side
- 15:00Speaker 2: and there's like these cool snow globes blown up behind them.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Did you catch those, like life size snow globes? Anyway,
- 15:08Speaker 2: I thought those were cool. I really loved the random
- 15:12Speaker 2: George Lopez cameos, and I love that he never seemed
- 15:15Speaker 2: to move. He was standing in the exact same place
- 15:16Speaker 2: every single time they failed him. I think he's security,
- 15:20Speaker 2: so he just always happens to be in the same spot.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But yes, go ahead. I wondered why he was in
- 15:25Speaker 1: this movie. I mean, he used to have his own
- 15:28Speaker 1: TV show, right, uh huh, Like, why is he playing
- 15:32Speaker 1: such a small little cameo part in this movie? Well,
- 15:35Speaker 1: Ny Camon his dad.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Hallmark's bringing the big names this year, and
- 15:41Speaker 2: I wish they'd used him more, but every time he
- 15:43Speaker 2: came on screen, I was like, Oh, it's George. I
- 15:45Speaker 2: just enjoyed. I was like, that's that's nice. George is
- 15:48Speaker 2: the streity part. I enjoyed him. There's a moment where
- 15:52Speaker 2: they go to Ricky Page's room as the room service interlopers,
- 15:57Speaker 2: and they pour her a glass of champagne and then
- 16:00Speaker 2: Ryan pours one for himself and drinks it.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I didn't didn't notice that he takes too much and
- 16:07Speaker 1: then he just totally drinks him. I just thought it
- 16:08Speaker 1: was very funny. Can't let her drink alone. I loved
- 16:12Speaker 1: that whole scene. I thought it was so funny and
- 16:14Speaker 1: I was like, I'm really feeling this Ricky Page vibe here.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Like yes, totally relate to her.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yes, And I thought she was quite funny when she
- 16:23Speaker 1: did her set too.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I was very impressed that they actually made like, you know,
- 16:29Speaker 2: that full ninety second joke. It totally worked. It had
- 16:32Speaker 2: to be very Hallmark appropriate. But then she like calls
- 16:35Speaker 2: out the audience member. I love that scene.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I gotta tell you.
- 16:39Speaker 3: It made me Miss Hacks. Yes.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yes, I was like, when are we gonna get our
- 16:46Speaker 1: favorite Geene smart?
- 16:49Speaker 3: What are we gonna get Jean Smart back in Hacks.
- 16:52Speaker 1: That's what I need to know. I get to work
- 16:54Speaker 1: on season two. Yeah, I laughed out when they did
- 17:00Speaker 1: the white Elephant gift and it was the botox talk.
- 17:03Speaker 3: All of them are like.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I dig it.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Oh, oh my god. It was so funny.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I was like, that's very relatable, just you know, maybe
- 17:13Speaker 1: relatable to this forty six year old who was dying
- 17:15Speaker 1: for botox. So yeah, there'd be fisticuffs for me to
- 17:19Speaker 1: get that gift.
- 17:20Speaker 2: There was something about Pat Monahan as Jackson in a
- 17:24Speaker 2: hotel name tag singing on stage that just set me
- 17:28Speaker 2: over the edge every time I saw it, even just
- 17:30Speaker 2: seeing him walking around in their hotel name tags.
- 17:32Speaker 1: They didn't need to have the name tags.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Mm hmmm.
- 17:36Speaker 1: He was constantly wearing a name tag, and then to
- 17:38Speaker 1: see him on stage in the name tag, honestly, it
- 17:41Speaker 1: killed me. It was it was like random low budge
- 17:46Speaker 1: holiday inn worker in.
- 17:48Speaker 2: His little little hotel name tag singing on stage.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like he's like, I'm gonna take a break
- 17:55Speaker 1: and then you can find me on stage working on
- 17:58Speaker 1: my music. Come on, dude.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Yeah, oh my goodness.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Less than I liked was the Star resort points. Lady like,
- 18:06Speaker 1: oh that was going bit, that was awesome, especially when
- 18:10Speaker 1: she was flirting with Ryan.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I thought that was very one hundred thousand star resorts point.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Get me a free ticket to your next concert.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Oh did you just hear that? I don't know, hold on,
- 18:22Speaker 3: hang on all right, Sorry about that.
- 18:27Speaker 1: What did you wish for? The main thing I wished
- 18:30Speaker 1: for is that I am so tired of this like
- 18:33Speaker 1: BS Hallmark trope that women don't pursue their dreams because
- 18:39Speaker 1: they feel tied to a location. You know, so she
- 18:43Speaker 1: wants to you know, she gets like a potential job
- 18:48Speaker 1: opportunity in Las Vegas, and she's very excited about it,
- 18:51Speaker 1: but you know, it's her family resort, and then at
- 18:54Speaker 1: the end.
- 18:54Speaker 3: She decides to stay.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And I'm like, really, like, boo, go pursue your dreams.
- 19:01Speaker 3: The family resort will be there.
- 19:05Speaker 2: You don't think that there's something very real about feeling
- 19:08Speaker 2: some sort of family obligation to not leaving your family
- 19:12Speaker 2: and the family business and there's not some guilt. I
- 19:15Speaker 2: think that's I mean, homework definitely plays on that, and
- 19:18Speaker 2: I think men would be like peace, I'm out of here.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I'm going to get this job that I want better.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I kind of think maybe that's real, Like women are
- 19:24Speaker 2: more inclined to be like I'll stay, I'll be the helper.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Well, I do think it's real, but I hate that
- 19:33Speaker 1: they continue to like perpetuate that storyline like I something else, please.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just bothered by it.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I needed someone to take a hand and ruffle Ryan's
- 19:49Speaker 2: hair a little bit. He was a little too much
- 19:50Speaker 2: like that thing you do then he was rock star
- 19:54Speaker 2: for me, Like.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He was not too rock star in fact, like I
- 19:58Speaker 1: kept going like, are they a rock band?
- 20:00Speaker 3: What kind of band are they?
- 20:01Speaker 1: Because he seems pretty clean cut, you know.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Yeah, he was so buttoned up. I was like, could
- 20:05Speaker 2: somebody like shake him up? Because at least the lead
- 20:08Speaker 2: singer had long hair, so it's like, oh, you're a
- 20:10Speaker 2: rock star. But I didn't believe Ryan as this like
- 20:14Speaker 2: even a boy bander. He was just a little too
- 20:17Speaker 2: a little too buttoned up for me. I needed some
- 20:19Speaker 2: toussled hair or a scruff or something.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I hear you, like he needed to be like taking
- 20:28Speaker 1: shots or smoking a sig or something right to be
- 20:31Speaker 1: a rock star. I don't know, I just feel like
- 20:35Speaker 1: I wasn't really into these two as a reconnecting couple. No,
- 20:41Speaker 1: Like I feel like they had like completely moved on
- 20:44Speaker 1: into different You know, he was a rock star, she
- 20:49Speaker 1: was like a hotel manager. Like there was never coming
- 20:52Speaker 1: back to that, right, So I just was like, I
- 20:58Speaker 1: would I would have her with like Pat Monahan to
- 21:02Speaker 1: be honest, Yeah, you.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Know what I mean.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Kyle see like felt I don't know if he is,
- 21:08Speaker 2: but he felt much younger than Laura austiness to me
- 21:11Speaker 2: in this movie one.
- 21:12Speaker 1: It was a real mm hmm agree agree. I'm gonna
- 21:17Speaker 1: have to look and see what their age difference is.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Not that it matters if you know a older woman
- 21:22Speaker 1: younger guy, but they had grown up together or some
- 21:25Speaker 1: not sens like that, right, am I getting this mix up?
- 21:29Speaker 1: They went to like a show, right, like a kid's
- 21:33Speaker 1: a kid's uh Christmas play? Yes they did? Yeah, yeah
- 21:38Speaker 1: that was too much for me with the girl who
- 21:40Speaker 1: was real showy on the stage and was like, no,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you can't do it like does like the sprinkler and
- 21:45Speaker 1: the air guitar and the yeah, isn't that his little
- 21:48Speaker 1: sister his niece? I think I think it's his niece anyway.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Maybe it's because I've sat through so many like elementary
- 21:56Speaker 1: school shows that I have a real like you know,
- 22:01Speaker 1: chip on my shoulder about continuing to watch them.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I don't know, not for me.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Sorry, So are you ready for did you see that?
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:10Speaker 1: So at one point Ryan and Claire go, see this
- 22:13Speaker 1: like a cappella show, right, She's trying to get them
- 22:16Speaker 1: as she's got this high side ponytail. That is a
- 22:23Speaker 1: real choice because it looks like she's going to watch
- 22:27Speaker 1: an eighties you know, Debbie gibbson. They come.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I was like, what who did that?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. It was like, is
- 22:38Speaker 1: this her trying to like look cool so they can
- 22:40Speaker 1: get backstage? Look? Yeah, I don't know, it was it was.
- 22:45Speaker 1: It was a lot. Well, speaking of that band, Infinitis,
- 22:48Speaker 1: they had a real low budget Pentatonics vibe. For me,
- 22:51Speaker 1: there was just three of them too, Like I was like, really,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and I do think that their second performance at the
- 22:58Speaker 1: resort was better when they sing Silent Night, but their
- 23:01Speaker 1: first performance I was like, yikes, yikes. Acapella is not
- 23:07Speaker 1: for everybody.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I mean, you might need more than three people to
- 23:11Speaker 2: be an a cappella group to have like that real
- 23:14Speaker 2: rich down.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah, did you notice like there were several scenes where
- 23:21Speaker 1: they would hook a cookie onto that cocoa cup. I did.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Do you know they sell it was a Trader Joe's.
- 23:28Speaker 2: No, I didn't, not those exact but they have like
- 23:31Speaker 2: a gingerbread cookie that will like straddle the edge of
- 23:35Speaker 2: your mug. I'm sure Trader Joe's isn't the only one
- 23:41Speaker 2: that sells them, but they are available there.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I did notice them. I should probably get them from
- 23:45Speaker 1: my daughter. She'd love that they had him like backstage
- 23:49Speaker 1: after like the big Variety Show. I was like, they
- 23:52Speaker 1: would not be drinking that at in backstage in that
- 23:56Speaker 1: green room or whatever. But I have never seen a
- 23:59Speaker 1: cookie a mug like that before ever. There are some
- 24:04Speaker 1: major green screen moments in this movie.
- 24:06Speaker 2: The first is early in the movie when the hotel
- 24:09Speaker 2: big wig is calling to.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Recruit Claire for her variety show organization skills, and there's
- 24:15Speaker 1: like Vegas skyline outside his window. And then another one
- 24:20Speaker 1: is Ryan and Claire walk outside during the gala and
- 24:26Speaker 1: there's like this big mountain skyline. And even my husband,
- 24:29Speaker 1: who as I've mentioned.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Gets very upset when we speak badlyods movies was like
- 24:33Speaker 2: nice mountain, real, real heavy on the green screen.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So I didn't I didn't notice that. I did notice
- 24:41Speaker 1: at one point Claire's is it?
- 24:45Speaker 3: It might have been Claire's mom, I don't know, somebody's mom.
- 24:49Speaker 3: It might have been Ryan's mom. I don't know.
- 24:52Speaker 1: She had this drink that looked like a frappucino, like
- 24:57Speaker 1: you know, a plastic cup with like the mound top,
- 25:00Speaker 1: you know.
- 25:01Speaker 3: And literally it is filled with.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Like tissue paper, like a bright pink tissue paper to
- 25:08Speaker 1: look like a drink. And I was like, God, kid,
- 25:11Speaker 1: you be any more obvious. It's so bad.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Set designers so bad.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I thought the Christmas party at the hotel had a
- 25:20Speaker 1: real office party vibe. Do it? Definitely like everybody's kind
- 25:26Speaker 1: of dancing and they're in the lobby of the hotel
- 25:29Speaker 1: and it's all the normal lighting. It was rough. It
- 25:34Speaker 1: was rough. Is there anything else that you want to
- 25:38Speaker 1: point out?
- 25:40Speaker 2: Nope, just my rating, which you gave it a I gave.
- 25:44Speaker 1: It a two and a half star. Yeah, that's it.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I gave it too. Yeah, like I wanted to love it.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I liked it. I think it's it was good for
- 25:59Speaker 3: you because.
- 25:59Speaker 1: You went in with like super low expectations, and I
- 26:02Speaker 1: kind of went in with like a little bit of
- 26:03Speaker 1: a higher expectation for this one. And I don't know why,
- 26:06Speaker 1: just because the story was so different than you know,
- 26:10Speaker 1: most of the other stories we've been getting. So I
- 26:13Speaker 1: was a little disappointed. Yeah, I did like the music,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and I would download those songs, those Christmas songs. I
- 26:20Speaker 1: need some rock and roll Christmas songs I liked.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I would also listen to those songs. I would download
- 26:26Speaker 2: the entire Train Christmas and Tahoe album.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Probably. I thought it was fine. I liked it. Two
- 26:33Speaker 1: point five was a pleasant surprise for me.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Okay, good deal. We will be.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Back tomorrow with the final Girls Gone Homework movie.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Of this week, which will be the Christmas Contest. Sorrying Candice,
- 26:48Speaker 2: Cameron Bray and John Brotherton, so make sure you come
- 26:51Speaker 2: back for that. Thanks for listening. Have a great week, everybody.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Goodbye bye
- 27:03Speaker 1: You
