- 4:30we pray, Dear Heavenly Father and the President matchless name of your son,
- 4:36Jesus. We thank you on tonight, God, we thank you on tonight
- 4:42for the life of my late great son. I thank you for the time
- 4:48that you lent me. I thank you for the memories that I have.
- 4:58God continue to hold me in your arms and comfort me like no one else
- 5:06can in the precious name of Jesus. And tonight we're gonna be a little
- 5:15different. We usually start with a quote, but tonight we're gonna start with
- 5:24a poem that I dedicated. I didn't write it, but it penetrated my
- 5:32heart, and it's called longing. I miss the sound of your voice filling
- 5:43the silence of this house, the fill of your hug chilling me from life's
- 5:51worries. I miss watching you grow, learning and laughing, reaching milestones I
- 6:02learned to be there for again. I miss your smiles and silly jokes,
- 6:12the chatter of your day, the casual kids as goodbye that I took for
- 6:18granted. Then now the regret floods in with every mile between us, the
- 6:28burden of longing heavy on my heart. Yet I take Sally's knowing you are
- 6:35forging your own path, chasing dreams that call you a far to find your
- 6:45place in this world. So I smiled through my tears. My son proud
- 6:51beyond measure, and I know that every step you take leads you closer to
- 6:59home. My longing will endure, my boy, and tell you that we're
- 7:05re reunited once more. For now I hold you close and memory and love,
- 7:15missing you always, yet grateful you are mine and man, and another
- 7:23one is called forever in our hearts. Our journey together was briefed, yet
- 7:32your fruit footprints remains forever stamped upon our hearts. Through now your pair flights
- 7:43elsewhere, Your spirit lives on, and memories we treasure, always filling the
- 7:51silence of your absence with the echoes of your sweet laughter. The light you
- 8:00will guide us on, reminding us of life's brevity and the power of love
- 8:07songs which outlights even death's dark curtain. So we share your memory with joy
- 8:18and my son ho in the gift you were in your short time among us,
- 8:26holding you clothes forever in our hearts. And this is the last tribute.
- 8:33It's called my guidance Star, my sun, my shining guiding star.
- 8:41Your light now beams from heaven above. The sky seems darker where you are,
- 8:50yet filled with more of your spirits. Love. You lit my world
- 8:56when you were here for laughed and joy with every smile. Now from heaven,
- 9:03you send good cheer to light my way the last mile. Your love
- 9:11remains, though we're apart, living on in my weary heart, shining so
- 9:20bright from the very star, my guiding star that will never part. When
- 9:28skies are dark and I lose my way, I look up and see your
- 9:35light shining down to show me the way, chase away the lonely nights,
- 9:43My guiding star that set so soon unit You now light Heaven's eternal noon.
- 9:52Yet your spirit shines within my heart, My guidance star, We'll never part.
- 10:03And then on tonight I played tribute to the legacy of the late Great
- 10:13Tides Seawan Thomas. Today is his heavenly birthday. He would have been thirty
- 10:22four years old, and I can't believe that sixteen years has passed so quickly.
- 10:31But it all seems to me like it was just yesterday. But his
- 10:37memories I hold close, his laughter and his sarcasm and his sassiness will remain
- 10:48in my heart forever. Let's just have a moment of silence and his honor.
- 11:07Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jesus. I thank you
- 11:11Jesus for letting him kill me. Uh huh, Angela, can you play
- 11:18a commercial? Can we go to commercial break for a minute? Have you
- 11:33ever lost a brother or somebody you love? Wait that I'll get your tumor
- 11:37getting summer bo. I do preach you on these beats, but I swear
- 11:41the saying no, I ain't preaching on these bees. But I just speen
- 11:43your home. I got too much paining me. Swirl like I feel,
- 11:46I'll be looking at your face. I get this ship really go to show
- 11:50you know you're funding out When I got the Lord, I was just that
- 11:54day day my love with Suka sus. Gotta tell my family that I love
- 11:58fun and get a chance to share my testimony with you and the reason why
- 12:33I do what I do. I know there's some people who see me on
- 12:41different podcasts than my podcast, and they're wondering why I why I still continue
- 12:48to do this while I'm in my bed. Why do I continue to show
- 12:54up even though I'm in mobile at the at the moment. Why do I
- 13:01continue to show up? The reason why I continue to show up, it's
- 13:11because of the legacy of my son. Even on tonight, I could have
- 13:24called Queen Angela and said, I don't feel good because my body is racking
- 13:31in pain right now. But I made a commitment to empower and motivate people
- 13:41despite of the obstacles I've faced, despite of the challenges, despite of the
- 13:48things that come my way, I made a commitment to show up to show
- 13:58people that sometimes we make excuses. We stubby told it's raining outside, and
- 14:05we won't. We don't give excuses for not doing what God has caused us
- 14:11to do. But after all I've been through, You'll see when I tell
- 14:18my story why I continue to show up in spite of and I might get
- 14:31a little teary eyed, but I'm not sad. These are tears of joy
- 14:41that I made it that despite all that I have been through, I have
- 14:50managed to soar like an ego above my circumstances. My son passed away on
- 15:03February thirteenth, two thousand and nine, and on April seventeenth, two thousand
- 15:15and nine, I consider it it was the day that my son was born,
- 15:22but it was the day of my rebirth because on April seventeenth, two
- 15:31thousand and nine, the year and my son passed away on his first birthday
- 15:37in heaven, I wanted to unlive myself. Not because I wanted to be
- 15:43unlive, but because I wanted to be with my son on his first birthday,
- 15:54I wondered, I said, I wonder if my grandma is bacon tie
- 16:02a cake today on his birthday. I wonder if my uncle and the angels
- 16:08are singing Happy birthday to him. And then I said to myself, nobody
- 16:17can celebrate your child's birthday like you can. So I took all of my
- 16:26high brow high blood pressure pills and I poured him into my hand. And
- 16:33I was gonna end it all and be with my son, because what mother
- 16:40doesn't want to be with their son. And I poured all the pills in
- 16:47my hand, and I heard a still voice say, if you do it,
- 16:53you'll never see him again. And I put the pills back into the
- 17:02bottle, and I remember crying and saying, God, if I'm gonna make
- 17:11it, you're gonna have to help me. I said, because everybody is
- 17:18saying, oh, you're so strong. I wouldn't be that strong if it
- 17:22was my son. He's in a better place, And and my mind was
- 17:27saying, if it's such a better place, why won't you just trade places?
- 17:37Send little Johnny to the better place and send Tie home to mommy.
- 17:47And I said, God, you gotta help me. And you know,
- 17:52in the African American communities and churches, they feel there's a tap against mental
- 18:00health. You can say you have to take blood pressure pills with your blood
- 18:04preacher, you have to take diabetes medicine. But when you say that you
- 18:11gotta take anxiety medicine, you gotta take panic medication, you have to take
- 18:21depression medication, when you have to take schizophrenia, whatever mental health issue you
- 18:26have, and you have to take medication. They feel that if you just
- 18:33love God and believe God, that everything is gonna be all right. But
- 18:41everything wasn't all right for me. Sunday after Sunday, I came in with
- 18:48the same problems and I left out the door just a little oilier, but
- 18:56with those same problems, and I realized I had to get some help.
- 19:06I had to talk to somebody. I realized on that day that is okay
- 19:11not to be okay. I don't care what titles you hold in the church,
- 19:17that your first instinct is to be human and you have to talk to
- 19:22somebody who is prepared and equit to deal with mental INSes. So I called
- 19:32the EAP from my job and we talked about the stages of grief and that
- 19:41you don't go through the stages of grief like I'm in stage one, now
- 19:48I'm going to stage two. I'm angry now getting ready to bargain. Now
- 19:52I'm depressed. Now oops, I got to acceptance. It doesn't work like
- 19:57that. You fuck wait between the stages until you finally get to the point
- 20:06where you accepted. And being in the church all my life, I knew
- 20:11that being absent from the body is to be present with the lords. But
- 20:18you can't accept that at the moment your heart can't accept it. Yes,
- 20:23I'm a minister, but before that I was a minister, I was a
- 20:30mother. And so things went all right for a couple of years, and
- 20:37then the apartment building that I lived in corner on fire. My apartment didn't
- 20:45burn, but all my stuff got word damaged and smoke damaged, and they
- 20:52condemned that whole section of the apartment building. So now I find myself homeless
- 21:00and going through the system, having worked all my life, and now I
- 21:08needed some help. So I went through the system, and the way that
- 21:14you were treated, they wanted to make you give up, even if you
- 21:18are eligible for help. They wanted to make it so hard that you give
- 21:23up. The first night they after being there all day long and having to
- 21:29bring my daughter and all our stuff down there, they put this in a
- 21:37bed bug hotel and we were there for about an hour and we had already
- 21:45got bitten four times. So I called my sister and I went back to
- 21:51my mom's and my mom has a one bedroom senior citizen apartment and we all
- 21:59had pile up in there until I was able to find a place. And
- 22:07then I made a permanent decision. While I was in a temporary place,
- 22:15I got married to a man that I thought was one way and I found
- 22:22out after I said I do, I said who did I get married to?
- 22:30He turned from Doctor Jekyll to Miss the Hide overnight. I found out
- 22:36that he was a substance abuser. He was a functional crackhead. He was
- 22:41still in our stock. And finally had to say, you don't want any
- 22:47help. He was denying that he was on drugs, and I was like,
- 22:52you don't want any help it as well as you're denying it, I
- 22:56can't help you. So we got a so I saying, then life was
- 23:03going on great until or April twenty four, two thy and twenty one.
- 23:14That's when I suffered a massive stroke and my whole right side was affected.
- 23:22My right side is the hand that I use. So after being in a
- 23:30rehab and being abused and neglected for two years, I came home still not
- 23:38able to use my hand, and I'm still not able to use it.
- 23:45But I haven't given up that I'm holding on to. I know that God
- 23:56has a plan and a purpose for my life. That this stroke wasn't for
- 24:02me, but for me to inspire and motivate someone else that might be going
- 24:08through some bad chapters in their life not to give up. See. I
- 24:17compare myself to that clown in the carnival that you take the ball and you
- 24:26throw it real hard, and that clown goes all the way down. So
- 24:33in my life I had some hard ballstone at me and I went all the
- 24:37way back, and just when you ready to claim your grand pride, that
- 24:45clown bounces back up again. Well, they put something in that clown that
- 24:51makes it bounce back. Well, God plays something in me that I call
- 24:56the bounce back spirit. Every time I am hit hard with a curved ball.
- 25:04I go all the way back like I'm about to fall, and just
- 25:15when the devil thinks he had me, I bounce back up again. So
- 25:25on tonight I found it fitting to share my testimony of why I do what
- 25:34I do, not for me, not for nobody to feel sorry for me,
- 25:41but to motivate somebody else that might have given up. I'm reminded of
- 25:52Peter in the Bible, and you know the story. Excuse me, you
- 26:03know the story. Peter had fished all night and in the morning, Jesus
- 26:08said, can I use your boats? See when God gets into your circumstances,
- 26:15your life has to be transformed. You have to change your situation can't
- 26:22stay the same. So Peter went from an empty net, he told Jesus.
- 26:29He said, Jesus, I've been fishing all night and I didn't catch
- 26:33anything in. In other words, she was saying, I'm an avid frisherman.
- 26:37Jesus, you're a caverner. I know when it comes that you might
- 26:41know what it is to build things, but I know what it is to
- 26:45fish. And I know it's not time right now to throw my net in.
- 26:51And I've been fishing all night and I'm just ready to go to bed.
- 26:55I'm sure him and the boys were ready to call it a night and
- 27:00go to bed and try again in the morning. And Jesus, after he
- 27:03had used Peter's boat, he said, Peter, launch out in the deep,
- 27:10throw your net out. And Peter said what I said, He'd been
- 27:15fishing all night. And Jesus said, at my word, do it again.
- 27:25So I came by tonight. And if you're listening to this on the
- 27:32replay, and you started that business and it just didn't work out. You
- 27:40tried to write a book and it just didn't work out. You tried to
- 27:48go back to school and it just didn't work out. And now you feel
- 27:55like you failed, You feel rejected, overlooked. I came by tonight to
- 28:06tell you to dream again, one more time, one more time, dream
- 28:14again, because this time is gonna be different. This time, that business
- 28:22is gonna flourish. This time, that book is gonna be a best seller.
- 28:26This time, your marriage is gonna be great. This time, your
- 28:32children are gonna be great. Just do it again, at my word,
- 28:37don't give in, don't give out, and don't give up. In my
- 28:45clothing, I want to say, do you know when we were children and
- 28:52we used to dare each other to do things like I'll hit you and say
- 28:56I dare you to hit her. I dare you to whatever it is that
- 29:02we used to dare you to do, and you would take that dare because
- 29:07you didn't want anybody to think that you were a scaredy cat. So on
- 29:12tonight, I double dog dare you to dream again. Whatever dream you have
- 29:22rocked the sleep, whatever God has promised you dream again. This time is
- 29:33gonna be different. Join me now in a word of prayer. Dear heavenly
- 29:45Father, in your precious son Jesus' name, we thank you for our gifts
- 29:53and talent. So on tonight, God, we ask that you stir up
- 29:56our gifts and talent, but you open up our creative portals in the name
- 30:03of Jesus. Anything that we touch, God, Ah, make it shine
- 30:08like gold. In the name of Jesus. We believe you God, because
- 30:14you are not men that you should lie, or the son of men that
- 30:18you shall repent. But every word that preceded out of your mouth will accomplish
- 30:25what it was sent to do. We love you and we adore you.
- 30:30In Jesus' name, I pray a man and a man and a man.
