Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey everybody, we are powered up for this edition of
- 0:12Speaker 1: Birds Weekly. It is presented by the inside of the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Birds Network. That man right there, it's former NFL player
- 0:19Speaker 1: and current broadcaster Barrett Brooks.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I'm Derek Gunn and my oh my, forget about the game.
- 0:26Speaker 1: The story that is blowing up across the country is
- 0:30Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is now shut down for the season according
- 0:34Speaker 1: to numerous credible sources. And the blood clot that was
- 0:38Speaker 1: superficial has now spread to his lungs. B. Brooks, your
- 0:43Speaker 1: thoughts when you heard this news, man.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Now, you're saying that the blood clot spread to his
- 0:48Speaker 3: lungs or was it already there?
- 0:49Speaker 2: We don't have the distinction just yet. Good point.
- 0:53Speaker 4: So he might have had blood clots and they didn't
- 0:56Speaker 4: know about it.
- 0:57Speaker 3: So it might have stemmed from something other than what
- 1:00Speaker 3: they said was in his leg. Now, looking at his leg,
- 1:04Speaker 3: he said it was superstitial in his calf muscle.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And it moved in his calf muscle. Then it's like, uh.
- 1:12Speaker 3: But then they take new tests, and now they're saying
- 1:15Speaker 3: he has two that are in his lungs?
- 1:19Speaker 2: To me, something don't sound all the way right. But, hey,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I ain't going to be wrong getting my diagnosis on it.
- 1:24Speaker 4: All I know is if I had a blood clot,
- 1:27Speaker 4: I'm not playing for nobody.
- 1:29Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know management is behind closed doors now
- 1:35Speaker 1: doing damage control. They want to be unified in whatever
- 1:39Speaker 1: they say from this point on.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Scramble.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But somebody's head's got to roll in this case, whether
- 1:45Speaker 1: it's the team doctors, independent doctors. Somebody's head's got to
- 1:48Speaker 1: roll in this case, man, because this is bigger than
- 1:51Speaker 1: just football. This is about life, man. I mean, you
- 1:54Speaker 1: had that man's life on the line, bro.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Like what you say– It's bigger than me, New Jack City.
- 1:59Speaker 2: It's bigger than me.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That's right.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's bigger than me.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And you're absolutely right, man, because when you look at this,
- 2:03Speaker 3: this is something that could have not just hurt him,
- 2:06Speaker 3: but it could have killed him, man.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And this is something that's crazy.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Now, from what I hear, trying to put the timeline together,
- 2:12Speaker 3: saying that he had had pain, but he didn't get
- 2:17Speaker 3: any diagnosis or he didn't get anything officially looked at
- 2:20Speaker 3: until he.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Got to London, right?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 2:24Speaker 3: They saw the superficial blood clot. Now, I'm going to
- 2:27Speaker 3: tell you this. I understand that because I've had something
- 2:33Speaker 3: like that. I thought it was just a bruise in
- 2:36Speaker 3: my leg.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:38Speaker 3: On several occasions, I thought it was a bruise in
- 2:41Speaker 3: my leg.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Yeah. So, I mean, he might have just thought it
- 2:43Speaker 4: was a bruise in his leg.
- 2:44Speaker 3: And it wasn't until they figured it out that they said,
- 2:46Speaker 3: all right, it's a blood clot. Now, they say it
- 2:50Speaker 3: was superficial, meaning it was towards the skin. I get
- 2:54Speaker 3: that also. But then I'm thinking to myself, hmm, they're
- 2:58Speaker 3: telling me not to go to sleep because of my travel.
- 3:04Speaker 3: So what the hell is it going to do when
- 3:06Speaker 3: you're out there running.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Around and playing? And getting hit by 300-pound guys.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Please express to me how the resting and sleeping is
- 3:19Speaker 3: more of an aggressive effect than being out there running around,
- 3:23Speaker 3: getting hit, About 300-pound guys. I mean, to me, it
- 3:27Speaker 3: just didn't make sense. Now, you let me, please help me.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Please help me, because I'm not that smart. Please help me.
- 3:34Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I can't be that smart
- 3:37Speaker 3: if I'm thinking to myself, if I got a blood
- 3:39Speaker 3: clot and they tell me not to sleep, I don't
- 3:41Speaker 3: get any rest. So at least, I'm saying Thursday, but
- 3:45Speaker 3: at least for 24 hours, I haven't been to.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Sleep, but yet I play on Sundays.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Help me make sense of this in my head.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 3:58Speaker 3: Because I think I'm a lot smarter than that, that
- 4:00Speaker 3: I would say, hmm, if I can't go to sleep
- 4:02Speaker 3: and I can't rest for 24 hours, but yet I'm
- 4:03Speaker 3: going to go play an NFL football game, something ain't ciphering.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Something ain't adding up. Something just ain't right. You know
- 4:11Speaker 3: what I'm saying? So you tell me, man. You tell
- 4:13Speaker 3: me where I'm wrong at it, where I am as
- 4:17Speaker 3: far as my mental mentality of thinking.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Maybe you shouldn't have played. Yeah, I'm there with you.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And what baffles me even more so is the fact
- 4:29Speaker 1: that initially the team said they were not going to
- 4:32Speaker 1: put him on IR. Then all of a sudden they
- 4:34Speaker 1: backtrack and they're putting him on IR. And then when
- 4:37Speaker 1: the story starts to blossom, so to speak, we find
- 4:42Speaker 1: out that Jalen got a second opinion. And his second
- 4:46Speaker 1: opinion group are the ones that kind of decided, hey,
- 4:50Speaker 1: we're shutting this thing down. And then on top of that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you get the agent and the team all of a
- 4:58Speaker 1: sudden releasing a unified statement, giving you a timeline of
- 5:03Speaker 1: what is happening and what's in the best interest for
- 5:06Speaker 1: the player. And when you hear blood thinners, man, that's
- 5:09Speaker 1: at least a few months. And then it takes at
- 5:12Speaker 1: least five to eight to 10 days for the blood
- 5:14Speaker 1: thinners to evaporate from your system.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So I'm thinking... this man.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Ain't playing any football this year, nor should he play
- 5:22Speaker 1: any football this year.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I'm just, I'm just, I'm not under the illusion that,
- 5:29Speaker 3: you know, there has to be something, you know, that
- 5:33Speaker 3: it has to be somebody that, that really needs to
- 5:36Speaker 3: explain to everybody what went on, you know what I'm saying?
- 5:38Speaker 3: And they sent, they sent, you know, Nick out there
- 5:41Speaker 3: as a sacrificial lamb. You talk about a unified force.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It should have been at least Nick, maybe even, Howie,
- 5:49Speaker 3: maybe even somebody from the medical staff to give us
- 5:53Speaker 3: more than that type of answer. So at this point,
- 5:56Speaker 3: they don't have to. You know what I'm saying? This
- 5:57Speaker 3: is their team. They do what they want to do.
- 5:58Speaker 3: That's their athlete. But Jalen right now, he's got them
- 6:03Speaker 3: like this right now.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 6:05Speaker 3: And there has to be something, you know, something arrived
- 6:08Speaker 3: because at the end of the day, they're saying, all right,
- 6:11Speaker 3: it's up to Jalen to make this decision now.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So somebody messed up.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And saying, all right, we need to let Jalen make
- 6:21Speaker 3: these decisions as opposed, Jalen just can't make decisions as
- 6:24Speaker 3: opposed to the team making those types of decisions.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Okay, you know those pieces in your closet that you

- 9:43Speaker 1: Now, do you think there could be tension between the
- 9:46Speaker 1: two parties? Now, Jalen has his own medical staff and
- 9:49Speaker 1: his second opinion group, and the Eagles have their in-house
- 9:52Speaker 1: doctors and the independent doctors as well. Do you think
- 9:55Speaker 1: moving forward there could be some tension between the two parties?
- 9:58Speaker 1: I think there's already tension. don't mean to cut you off,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but let's face it because more and more professional athletes,
- 10:05Speaker 1: not just in football, but across the board have, have
- 10:08Speaker 1: sought independent consultation to get second opinions because they don't
- 10:13Speaker 1: trust the team doctors and the team trainers and for
- 10:18Speaker 1: their initial opinions in a lot of cases.
- 10:21Speaker 3: And you can see why it's warranted that you do that.
- 10:23Speaker 3: You go get you a second opinion, an outside source.
- 10:26Speaker 3: You know, I mean, that's why, you know, you go
- 10:28Speaker 3: through the concussion, you know, litigation, and they have an
- 10:32Speaker 3: independent representation now, as opposed to just having the NFL stuff.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Because when it was just the NFL.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Giving out the, you know, they used to give out
- 10:41Speaker 3: the number on the diagnoses. And it was just messed
- 10:45Speaker 3: up the way they did it because it was one
- 10:47Speaker 3: of those things where they were just saying, all right, well,
- 10:52Speaker 3: you know, this is something that, you know, we thought
- 10:55Speaker 3: that you graded out of this.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Out of this many people, this is how you grade
- 11:00Speaker 4: it out.
- 11:01Speaker 3: And it was kind of messed up because it was
- 11:02Speaker 3: kind of biased because even, you know, black people, African-Americans
- 11:08Speaker 3: had a hard diagnosis because they didn't think that we
- 11:13Speaker 3: were that smart anyways. So, I mean, there's a lot
- 11:16Speaker 3: of stuff that goes on with that. But then to
- 11:18Speaker 3: turn around with this, I'm like, Jalen, man, you should
- 11:23Speaker 3: have went to get somebody else, you know? And that's
- 11:25Speaker 3: why it's up to him and his camp to see
- 11:28Speaker 3: where he's coming back. To me, I'm not going to lie,
- 11:31Speaker 3: if I'm Jalen, that might have been my last time
- 11:35Speaker 3: I wore Eagle Green in a uniform and played him.
- 11:39Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:39Speaker 4: That may be the last time, you know, because, number one,
- 11:41Speaker 4: he wanted his own.
- 11:42Speaker 3: He wanted a new contract. They didn't give him a
- 11:45Speaker 3: new contract. So we're going to this one. We're going
- 11:47Speaker 3: to say, all right, this is going to let us
- 11:48Speaker 3: know whether we're going to give you a contract or not.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:51Speaker 3: He doesn't have the ability right now to go out
- 11:53Speaker 3: there and play for a contract. So he's like, all right, well, shoot,
- 11:58Speaker 3: you guys going to do me like that? Well, let
- 11:59Speaker 3: me go ahead and give you this. I want to
- 12:01Speaker 3: own the Eagles.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I want to own, you know what I'm saying, the NFL.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You know, you guys put me through this.
- 12:06Speaker 4: And he has enough cachet to really.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Make some decisions and put him in a position. He's
- 12:11Speaker 2: made a whole lot of money.
- 12:13Speaker 3: So since he's made a whole lot of money, he's
- 12:14Speaker 3: not out there just needing it. He can just go
- 12:18Speaker 3: if he wants it. So it's a lot different than
- 12:21Speaker 3: a Kaepernick situation. He has the loot. He has the money.
- 12:24Speaker 3: He has the cachet. So I'm not saying that the
- 12:30Speaker 3: Eagles did something wrong, but I know there wasn't something
- 12:34Speaker 3: right that went on.
- 12:35Speaker 2: That's all I'm going to say.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Well, we know this story still has other pieces and
- 12:42Speaker 1: elements to it that will surface in the days and
- 12:45Speaker 1: weeks to come. I can't wait to hear what else
- 12:47Speaker 1: comes out behind this initial story.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Would you trust them? Would you trust them? No, no, no.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And I've talked to so many players in different sports
- 12:57Speaker 1: through the years that have said they have gotten second
- 13:01Speaker 1: opinions because of their lack of trust for in-house medical
- 13:05Speaker 1: staff and training staffs. And this was another case. What
- 13:09Speaker 1: if he hadn't sought a second opinion and just went
- 13:12Speaker 1: on the team's opinion on this and gone out there
- 13:14Speaker 1: and played another game against Carolina or next Monday night
- 13:17Speaker 1: against Dallas?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Man.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Well, yeah, we haven't talked about that. How about, first
- 13:23Speaker 4: of all, he flew back.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, 30,000 feet for eight hours. Yeah. And he's on
- 13:29Speaker 2: a plane.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And then when he gets back, He actually practices when
- 13:35Speaker 3: he gets back. Before he got the correct diagnosis. Before
- 13:40Speaker 3: they said, all right, it had moved. You know, the
- 13:43Speaker 3: clot had moved. The one that was in his calf moved.
- 13:46Speaker 3: They didn't know anything about the stuff that got diagnosed
- 13:49Speaker 3: earlier today with the two clots in his lungs.
- 13:53Speaker 4: They were just talking about the one that was in
- 13:54Speaker 4: his calf that moved.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yes. So I'm like, and he practiced when he got back.
- 14:01Speaker 2: He practiced and flew on a plane.
- 14:04Speaker 3: All I'm saying is, you know what I'm saying, something
- 14:07Speaker 3: ain't adding up, man.
- 14:08Speaker 1: That's all I'm going to say. Something ain't adding up.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And somebody's head has got to roll. Somebody's head has
- 14:13Speaker 1: got to roll in this situation, man.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Well, in a lesser story compared to this story, the
- 14:21Speaker 1: Eagles lose their fourth consecutive game to Carolina. And, Barrett,
- 14:25Speaker 1: let's start here. You played the game at this level.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I've covered the game for over four decades. For the
- 14:33Speaker 1: life of me, as I sit here and we talk
- 14:36Speaker 1: right now, and I keep replaying this game over and
- 14:39Speaker 1: over in my mind, I still can't understand why in
- 14:43Speaker 1: the world you come out throwing the first nine passes
- 14:47Speaker 1: of the game, the first one ends in a 12-yard sack,
- 14:51Speaker 1: against a defense that is the second worst run defense
- 14:54Speaker 1: in the National Football League, giving up 156 yards a game.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Who in their right mind decided to come out throwing
- 15:02Speaker 1: because one of the few strengths of the Carolina defense
- 15:06Speaker 1: is their ability to put pressure on a quarterback when
- 15:09Speaker 1: he steps back to pass.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Explain this to me, please. Sean, you said who in
- 15:15Speaker 2: their right mind would do it? Sean Manion. And I
- 15:21Speaker 2: get it, man.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Sean does not have the people that he needs to
- 15:24Speaker 3: run the offense that he's desiring to run.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I get it. You got to make sure the offense aligns.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You got guys in there that, I mean, I think
- 15:31Speaker 3: they will be pretty good guys that come in and
- 15:33Speaker 3: be backups, you know, spell you every once in a while,
- 15:35Speaker 3: you know, until you get it together.
- 15:38Speaker 2: So I get that.
- 15:39Speaker 3: But I don't get the fact that we're still trying
- 15:42Speaker 3: to do things for people that don't equal what their
- 15:48Speaker 3: talent is. You know, you don't put a guy underneath
- 15:51Speaker 3: center when he's played his entire career in shotgun position.
- 15:56Speaker 3: And then knowing exactly what somebody, when they get on
- 16:00Speaker 3: a shotgun, they know that they're going to blitz. And
- 16:03Speaker 3: they're thinking those blitzes are not just for pass. Those
- 16:04Speaker 3: blitzes are run blitzes also because you have a number
- 16:07Speaker 3: count that's just not conducive to blocking run or pass.
- 16:11Speaker 4: They have blitzed that.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Right side, number one, because they got a young rookie
- 16:16Speaker 3: tackle there. And he doesn't understand really or comprehend what
- 16:20Speaker 3: it is to have a dual read.
- 16:22Speaker 2: He'd understand that.
- 16:23Speaker 3: He'd understand MDMs the way it should be that a
- 16:26Speaker 3: guy with more experience. Like Lane would understand, all right,
- 16:29Speaker 3: I get to the line. We're running play action. Sometimes
- 16:32Speaker 3: you got to abort play action and block it regularly
- 16:35Speaker 3: like a pass play because you got more than blockers
- 16:39Speaker 3: than you have.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Then you have a.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Young center and majors who doesn't know, all right, All
- 16:45Speaker 3: these guys on this side, you got two guys to
- 16:47Speaker 3: block three or four guys over here.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Over here, we got enough, but we need.
- 16:52Speaker 3: To push the protection this way because they're coming from
- 16:55Speaker 3: this side over there and we don't do it. So
- 16:58Speaker 3: that's number one. That's because of, you know, young tackle
- 17:01Speaker 3: and you got a young center. Nobody there to really say,
- 17:05Speaker 3: all right, we got to, you know, adjust to this.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Let's slide the protection. Let's do something else. Or, to say,
- 17:12Speaker 3: you know what? And I know Jalen didn't do it either,
- 17:14Speaker 3: but you know what? This ain't looking good. Let's change
- 17:18Speaker 3: what we're about to do. We're going to get out
- 17:20Speaker 3: of that, hit the center, bam. Oh, shotgun, shotgun, come back. Okay,
- 17:24Speaker 3: we got 322. Why stick not? Or 363. Why stick not?
- 17:30Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? Instead of just running the
- 17:33Speaker 3: same play. Something has to change, man. He has to
- 17:38Speaker 3: give this offense... more of an outlet on these blitzes.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Or we will continue to get beat up like this
- 17:46Speaker 3: entire time. We have so much, you know, we have
- 17:51Speaker 3: so much that we're trying to do that we're not
- 17:53Speaker 3: doing one thing right.
- 17:55Speaker 4: We're trying to run schemes in which don't make sense.
- 17:58Speaker 3: We can't make adjustments because we just don't have the
- 18:02Speaker 3: adjustments to counter what these guys are doing. Although I
- 18:05Speaker 3: did see in the second half, I saw Tanner Checked
- 18:09Speaker 3: to a pass play.
- 18:10Speaker 2: It was a run play.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Checked to a pass play and was able to beat
- 18:13Speaker 3: the blitz with it. And I was pretty proud that
- 18:15Speaker 3: he did that. Ended up, you know, completing the pass,
- 18:18Speaker 3: getting the first down. But do we have that time
- 18:21Speaker 3: to do that anytime he sees that blitz?
- 18:23Speaker 4: Because they're going to run it again. Three weeks in
- 18:25Speaker 4: a row, they've run the same overload blitz.
- 18:27Speaker 2: That's right. Whether it's run or pass.
- 18:29Speaker 3: You go on the center, they're going to run this blitz.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Every single time. You think I'm lying?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Go ahead and look it up.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Sit down and watch film. Hell, I'll sit down and
- 18:39Speaker 3: watch film with you. They're doing the same thing. We're
- 18:42Speaker 3: just not picking it up. And you just.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I mean, come on.
- 18:46Speaker 3: We can't stop bumping our head against the wall, man.
- 18:48Speaker 3: This is going to be a long season. It's already
- 18:49Speaker 3: going to be a long season. We only got QB1.
- 18:53Speaker 3: We don't have our starting running back. We did get
- 18:55Speaker 3: Smitty back. We had Dallas Goddard two weeks before. So
- 18:59Speaker 3: we're starting to get those guys back. But it doesn't
- 19:01Speaker 3: matter when you got an offensive line. It's a patchwork
- 19:03Speaker 3: offensive line. I don't understand.
- 19:05Speaker 2: And I don't understand for the life of me also.
- 19:08Speaker 3: If Kendall was up, why wouldn't he start?
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 3: That didn't make sense to me because, number one, the
- 19:17Speaker 3: Aaron snaps. Every time there was trouble, I mean, Majors,
- 19:21Speaker 3: he fought brilliantly, man. I mean, he tried to go
- 19:24Speaker 3: out there and do his thing, but, I mean, come on, man.
- 19:27Speaker 3: That snap, that last snap was a killer, man. It
- 19:30Speaker 3: was the nail in the coffin, man. So we just
- 19:32Speaker 3: can't have that, man. We're not good enough to get
- 19:35Speaker 3: away With, you know, these adverse situations, we're just not
- 19:38Speaker 3: good enough.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Who does the fault lie with then? Is it the
- 19:42Speaker 1: offensive line coach? Is it the coordinator on offense? Is
- 19:47Speaker 1: it the head coach?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:50Speaker 1: They've all been in this league long enough to know
- 19:54Speaker 1: the basic rules. If one side's overloaded, you slide line
- 19:57Speaker 1: protection to that side and you burn them the opposite way.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And we continue to do it butt backwards every single week. Now,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you got the Dallas Cowboys coming up Monday night. You
- 20:08Speaker 1: don't think as bad as Dallas' defense is, they're not
- 20:11Speaker 1: going to do the same thing because we know the
- 20:13Speaker 1: NFL is a copycat league. You don't think Dallas is
- 20:16Speaker 1: going to do the same thing, and we're going to
- 20:17Speaker 1: sit here for four quarters and watch the Eagles do
- 20:20Speaker 1: the exact same thing again in terms of not sliding
- 20:23Speaker 1: protection and the quarterback getting his brains beat out again?
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yes, it's going to happen. I'm going to tell you this.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Right now, they're sitting in, going over film, And Kristen Parker,
- 20:35Speaker 3: the defense coordinator, like, yeah, this is our get-back game.
- 20:38Speaker 2: This is our get-back game. This is what we're going
- 20:41Speaker 2: to blitz the heck out of them. We're going to
- 20:42Speaker 2: blitz them. This is our get-back game. Fellas, fellas, we
- 20:45Speaker 2: finally got one. We got us one right here. We're
- 20:48Speaker 2: going to get them.
- 20:49Speaker 3: We're going to send these same two blitz because we
- 20:50Speaker 3: know they ain't going to pick them up. That's exactly
- 20:53Speaker 3: what's going to happen, man. We're going to go for.
- 20:54Speaker 2: The same thing.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I'm going to be right here on not Monday, but Tuesday,
- 21:00Speaker 3: sitting back talking to you about, man, why didn't we
- 21:03Speaker 3: pick that blitz up?
- 21:06Speaker 1: The physical liabilities are one thing. Now, Carolina set a
- 21:12Speaker 1: franchise record with 13 penalties. So what do the Eagles do?
- 21:16Speaker 1: They help them out. They get 11 penalties of their own.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'm tired of seeing this team with double-digit penalties. Mental
- 21:22Speaker 1: mistakes are costing them as much as the physical insufficiencies. Barrett?
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 3: I mean, and it all stems from our lack of
- 21:32Speaker 3: production on the offensive side of the ball. We just
- 21:34Speaker 3: don't play well on first and second down. We're always
- 21:37Speaker 3: third and long. And we just don't have an offense
- 21:39Speaker 3: that can pick up third and long. We're not good enough.
- 21:43Speaker 3: We've got to be more efficient on first down especially.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I mean, to start the game off the first play
- 21:49Speaker 3: of the game, the first play of the game.
- 21:52Speaker 2: First play of the game, D-Gun.
- 21:55Speaker 1: That man got hit 11 times. He was sacked three times.
- 21:58Speaker 1: and was beat up basically in target. He was seeing
- 22:01Speaker 1: ghosts for a while. He was getting rid of the
- 22:03Speaker 1: ball so fast he was seeing ghosts. And for the
- 22:05Speaker 1: life of me, Barrett, I don't understand how when you
- 22:08Speaker 1: see a blitz coming, and I watch enough college football
- 22:11Speaker 1: and pro football, you see it all the time with
- 22:13Speaker 1: other teams. They see a blitz coming. They have hot reads.
- 22:16Speaker 2: What do we do?
- 22:17Speaker 1: We throw out routes every time. Basically, you're giving a
- 22:20Speaker 1: defender a shorter field to cover a receiver. Why do
- 22:24Speaker 1: you not have somebody coming over the middle on a
- 22:27Speaker 1: hot read so you can burn them? The field's wide
- 22:29Speaker 1: open in the middle of the field. We don't do
- 22:30Speaker 1: this at all hardly, you know, in terms of burning
- 22:33Speaker 1: the opposition across the middle of the field.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Because you're talking about big gainers.
- 22:38Speaker 1: If you hit that pass over the middle, the way
- 22:39Speaker 1: teams are blitzing us now, sending six, seven guys against
- 22:43Speaker 1: the Eagles offensive line, what do you expect the result
- 22:47Speaker 1: to be?
- 22:48Speaker 3: We'd be bumping our head up. We'd be bumping our
- 22:50Speaker 3: head against the goalposts, man, because all we have to
- 22:52Speaker 3: do is have a side adjustment. You look at it,
- 22:54Speaker 3: and this is what I mean by side adjustment. As
- 22:56Speaker 3: a receiver, it should be built in the offense. All right, yes,
- 23:00Speaker 3: I have my routes. I have my responsibility. But if
- 23:03Speaker 3: I look over, on this play. And I know there's
- 23:07Speaker 3: too many people for the offensive line to block. If
- 23:11Speaker 3: they have, we have, if they got six people up there,
- 23:15Speaker 3: we can only block five. So that means it will
- 23:17Speaker 3: be one extra guy. And it's built in like a
- 23:20Speaker 3: receiver's taught that, all right, he's looking inside. And if
- 23:24Speaker 3: he sees that linebacker disappear, then he's got to side
- 23:27Speaker 3: adjust to it. He's got to make himself available to
- 23:29Speaker 3: the quarterback. I mean, you can just run a little
- 23:31Speaker 3: stop route, turn around and make yourself available for the ball.
- 23:35Speaker 3: But we just don't do that. And it's simple, man.
- 23:38Speaker 2: It's simple.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Somebody disappears. This guy disappears. Your linebacker disappears. Then you
- 23:43Speaker 3: got to make yourself available. And then you got to
- 23:46Speaker 3: make that. That's more brush to you. And if you
- 23:48Speaker 3: get past that first initial tackle with these zero blitzes,
- 23:52Speaker 3: there's nobody back there.
- 23:53Speaker 4: There's nobody to help out. There's nobody to.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Come get you.
- 23:56Speaker 4: You could just go roll. And we just don't take
- 23:59Speaker 4: advantage of it, man.
- 24:00Speaker 2: We don't, man. You know what I'm saying?
- 24:01Speaker 4: You got to have sight adjustments. Or you got to
- 24:03Speaker 4: have a quarterback.
- 24:04Speaker 3: That sees that the blitz is coming and we don't
- 24:07Speaker 3: have enough blockers to change the play.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Or you see those guys coming, don't.
- 24:13Speaker 4: Let it shock you.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I mean, a couple of times, even with Jalen in there,
- 24:17Speaker 3: they run this blitz, more people we can block, and
- 24:21Speaker 3: it'd be a surprise to shock, oh, where did this
- 24:23Speaker 3: guy come from?
- 24:24Speaker 2: Come on, man. I mean, everybody in their moment saw
- 24:27Speaker 2: him sitting there.
- 24:28Speaker 3: So, I mean, it's frustrating to me. Frustrating because I
- 24:34Speaker 3: know that there are things that you can counter this.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I know, because I've been playing the league 12 years,
- 24:40Speaker 3: and especially my last four. I understood that in order
- 24:43Speaker 3: for me to stay in the NFL as a backup,
- 24:47Speaker 3: and there's cheaper backups out there, I had to make
- 24:50Speaker 3: myself valuable. I had to make myself a commodity that
- 24:54Speaker 3: they just couldn't be without. And the way I did
- 24:58Speaker 3: that was I learned both tackles, both guards, and play
- 25:01Speaker 3: the center position.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I could play center, both guards.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Both tackles.
- 25:04Speaker 3: In order for me to do that, I had to
- 25:06Speaker 3: know what everybody was doing. So I'd have to go up.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I'd call the mic out. I'd call the protection out.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I'd get us out. I mean, I'd do all that
- 25:14Speaker 3: stuff making sure that I'd be able to play every
- 25:16Speaker 3: single position.
- 25:18Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 25:19Speaker 3: So if it came to a time where, all right,
- 25:22Speaker 3: we down a receiver and a linebacker, we can only
- 25:25Speaker 3: address one offensive lineman, they could address me. And just
- 25:29Speaker 3: as long as we don't have two guys go out
- 25:30Speaker 3: the game, we'd be fine.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 4: You know what you got to do. You got to
- 25:36Speaker 4: call the blitz. You see the blitz.
- 25:38Speaker 3: All you got to do is hit it once or twice,
- 25:40Speaker 3: and they'll stop blitzing because it'll be a big play.
- 25:42Speaker 2: That's right. It'll be a big play.
- 25:44Speaker 3: But until we do that, it'll be a long season.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It's not really a long season, but.
- 25:48Speaker 3: It'll be a real long season because if we can't
- 25:50Speaker 3: stop the bleeding, they're going to keep jabbing us.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Well, coming out of training camp, we had heard that
- 25:56Speaker 1: Tanner McKee did not have a great training camp this summer. And,
- 26:00Speaker 1: of course, he's thrown in the fire. with a short
- 26:04Speaker 1: amount of time to work with the ones to get
- 26:07Speaker 1: ready for a game. When you look at his skill set, Barrett,
- 26:11Speaker 1: does he have the attributes to be successful in the
- 26:16Speaker 1: National Football League? Yes.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yes, he does.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Is he a big-time starter? I believe he could be
- 26:24Speaker 3: a patchwork starter. He could be a bridge starter. A
- 26:27Speaker 3: starter can come in and play a year, two years
- 26:29Speaker 3: for your squad, win you a couple games. until you
- 26:33Speaker 3: get you a franchise quarterback. I think Tanner McKee can
- 26:38Speaker 3: play this game. I know he can play this game.
- 26:41Speaker 3: But you got to put him in a better situation
- 26:43Speaker 3: than you put him in this last game. Sean Mayen
- 26:46Speaker 3: did him no favors, putting him under the center and
- 26:49Speaker 3: thinking that, you know, we were going to run play
- 26:51Speaker 3: action when we don't even run the ball. It doesn't
- 26:55Speaker 3: make sense to me. So what you do is you
- 26:58Speaker 3: make him a technical player. You make him go in shotgun.
- 27:02Speaker 3: read the defense, see where the ball should go, and
- 27:05Speaker 3: let him go out there and ball out. He has
- 27:07Speaker 3: that capability. He can get guys out of, you know,
- 27:10Speaker 3: he can get you out of a blitzing situation by
- 27:13Speaker 3: hitting a couple plays where, you know, we're beating the blitz.
- 27:16Speaker 2: But until we, you know, stop.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Doing what we're doing, man, and playing mediocre football, man,
- 27:21Speaker 3: it's going to be a rough season, a long season, man.
- 27:23Speaker 4: And man, you're sitting here, you know, talking about this
- 27:26Speaker 4: every single week.
- 27:28Speaker 1: How do you not attempt to run the ball? Now,
- 27:30Speaker 1: we know they can't run the ball. They're averaging... with
- 27:32Speaker 1: like 30-something yards a game rushing. How do you not
- 27:35Speaker 1: run the ball? Anyway, just, hey, Damian Pierce, hey, he's
- 27:41Speaker 1: got to develop pedigree. He didn't show me anything, bro.
- 27:44Speaker 2: How can he?
- 27:45Speaker 1: He didn't get an opportunity. He didn't get a chance.
- 27:47Speaker 1: He only ran the ball 12 times. You had that man,
- 27:49Speaker 1: Tanner McKee, throw the ball 45 times against that defense.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Look, D-Gon, when you're given an opportunity.
- 27:59Speaker 3: You got to take hold of that opportunity. Grab the
- 28:01Speaker 3: opportunity and run with it, man. You can't let them
- 28:04Speaker 3: or anybody else give you an excuse of why you're
- 28:07Speaker 3: not doing it. Sometimes you got to make a person miss.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Saquon did it last year. You got to make somebody
- 28:12Speaker 3: miss and go make a big play. They're giving them
- 28:14Speaker 3: ample opportunity to be great, man. I mean, I don't
- 28:17Speaker 3: care what's going on. You got to be great when
- 28:19Speaker 3: given an opportunity. And he just hasn't shown it. They
- 28:23Speaker 3: put Carson Steele in. You did all that stuff in
- 28:26Speaker 3: the preseason. But, A, understand, those were guys that were
- 28:29Speaker 3: trying to make the squad. These guys you just got
- 28:32Speaker 3: through playing against have made squads. These guys are, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 3: you're no longer playing with guys that are just going
- 28:37Speaker 3: to let you go and run them over. They're not
- 28:39Speaker 3: going to let you do that. They're going to come
- 28:41Speaker 3: up and pop you, and that's exactly what happened, you know.
- 28:45Speaker 3: We just don't have it, man. I mean, we have
- 28:47Speaker 3: Jalen Blue now. I want to see what he can do.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Track speed. See if he can break something away, you
- 28:53Speaker 3: know what I'm saying? If he can break a play.
- 28:54Speaker 3: We just need something, man. I mean, if we got
- 28:56Speaker 3: to put, you know, Whatever it takes to run the rock,
- 29:00Speaker 3: we got to figure out a way to run the rock.
- 29:02Speaker 2: We got to, you know, run pin-pull plays, you know
- 29:05Speaker 2: what I'm saying?
- 29:05Speaker 3: Block down, pull the guard around, get to the outside
- 29:08Speaker 3: where there are less people at because they're blitzing everything
- 29:11Speaker 3: in the middle.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Let's get to the outside, man. All these things, you know?
- 29:14Speaker 3: I mean, if it takes, you know, running a gadget play,
- 29:19Speaker 3: put the rookie quarterback in there.
- 29:20Speaker 2: What's his name? Carson, Carson, not Carson. Oh, Clayton, what
- 29:27Speaker 2: the heck is his name?
- 29:28Speaker 3: The rookie quarterback. Well, what is the rookie quarterback? Peyton,
- 29:32Speaker 3: I forget his name, man.
- 29:36Speaker 2: You got me. Now I got to look it up, man.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I got to look it up now. You got to
- 29:39Speaker 2: look it up.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It up?
- 29:41Speaker 2: I got to look it up now. Now I'm mad, man.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I'm mad. I don't know what his name is. I
- 29:44Speaker 2: did not know his name. Come on, man.
- 29:46Speaker 3: I even called a game. I called a game. I
- 29:48Speaker 3: called one or two of his games when he was
- 29:50Speaker 3: in college.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. Are you serious? Cole Peyton. Cole, okay. Okay.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Well, they also– Like Taysom Hill.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Do them like Taysom Hill.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Play like Taysom Hill, you know. Put them out there wherever.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Make them play.
- 30:06Speaker 1: What about Joe Milton that just picked up off the
- 30:08Speaker 1: Cowboys roster? This dude is what, 6'5?
- 30:11Speaker 3: He got one of the strongest arms I've ever seen, man.
- 30:14Speaker 3: He's got a Michael Vick arm. He can run, man.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Got speed.
- 30:19Speaker 3: He just don't know how to read defenses now. He
- 30:22Speaker 3: hasn't been developed in reading defenses, man. He just hasn't
- 30:25Speaker 3: had– had the opportunity to. So, I mean, until he
- 30:28Speaker 3: learns how to do that stuff, you know, he'll just
- 30:30Speaker 3: be running around freestyling. But that might work. Because what
- 30:34Speaker 3: we're doing now is not working.
- 30:36Speaker 2: It's not working.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Man, this team, even when they got a bit of
- 30:41Speaker 1: momentum going, they shoot themselves in the foot. Look, Tanner
- 30:48Speaker 1: throws a beautiful touchdown pass to Devonta Smith, right? They
- 30:54Speaker 1: come back. The defense comes back. They get Carolina on
- 30:57Speaker 1: a three and out. The Eagles get the ball at
- 31:00Speaker 1: the 48-yard line. First play, bad snap. Last play of
- 31:04Speaker 1: the drive, block punt. Sets up Carolina for another touchdown
- 31:08Speaker 1: and puts the game out of reach. You know that
- 31:10Speaker 1: old saying, if it weren't for bad luck, you'd have
- 31:13Speaker 1: no luck at all? This team right now, they had 26,
- 31:17Speaker 1: 26 players on the injury report last Friday, okay? During
- 31:23Speaker 1: the game, Nolan Smith got knocked out. I mean, went
- 31:27Speaker 1: straight down like Mike Tyson hit him. That was a
- 31:29Speaker 1: nice chip, man. That was a chip block. That was
- 31:31Speaker 1: a chip block, man. I'm praying for you, Nolan. I'm
- 31:33Speaker 1: praying for you, man. You know, you saw Jordan Davis
- 31:36Speaker 1: grab his ankle. Carson Steele gets– It's his high school spring.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Oh, geez. High school spring, that's at least two, three weeks.
- 31:43Speaker 3: No, that's usually three weeks to a month.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness. Then you had Carson Steele get in.
- 31:49Speaker 1: He gets one play. He's walking off the field with
- 31:51Speaker 1: his arm dragging on the ground. I'm like, what else
- 31:54Speaker 1: could go wrong with this team?
- 31:56Speaker 2: Don't ask that, man.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Because last time you asked that, we had a QB
- 32:00Speaker 3: number one. You asked it, and what happens? We don't
- 32:03Speaker 3: have QB number one anymore. Please don't say that anymore, man.
- 32:06Speaker 3: We can't afford to let anybody else go.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Are you blaming me for this? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I expect that out of you anyway. So how much
- 32:16Speaker 1: do you have to worry about now team morale and
- 32:20Speaker 1: finger pointing? If there's one of the few things that
- 32:24Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni did well, except for A.J. Brown, of course,
- 32:29Speaker 1: is rally the troops in adverse situations. And you don't
- 32:32Speaker 1: see a lot of players. You don't see players bickering
- 32:34Speaker 1: on the sidelines. You don't hear them giving subliminal messages
- 32:38Speaker 1: when they stand in front of the cameras in a
- 32:40Speaker 1: locker room after a practice or after a game. But
- 32:45Speaker 1: this is about as demoralizing as it gets. Your franchise
- 32:48Speaker 1: quarterback gone. Your one, two, and three running backs gone.
- 32:52Speaker 1: your wide receiver, top wide receiver in and out. You
- 32:55Speaker 1: don't know when the next time your number one tight
- 32:57Speaker 1: end is going to have another injury because he has
- 32:58Speaker 1: injuries every year.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Your offensive line is a mess.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Your defense cannot survive playing 75 snaps a game. I
- 33:06Speaker 1: don't care how good your defense is. You cannot survive
- 33:09Speaker 1: playing 75 snaps a game. How much do you have
- 33:13Speaker 1: to be worried about morale and finger pointing at this
- 33:16Speaker 1: stage moving forward?
- 33:18Speaker 3: That's what he gets paid for. He's a He's a
- 33:21Speaker 3: CEO coach. And, I mean, that's what he's good at.
- 33:23Speaker 3: He's good at rallying the troops, man. And that's exactly
- 33:26Speaker 3: what he's going to have to do, man. Like I
- 33:28Speaker 3: said last week, they're in a foxhole, man. And they've
- 33:30Speaker 3: got to fight to get out this foxhole. I don't
- 33:34Speaker 3: doubt that Nick Sirianni can do it.
- 33:36Speaker 2: But, man, they just did him wrong, man.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Why would they parade him out there and have him
- 33:40Speaker 3: answer questions by himself like that? You know, he had
- 33:43Speaker 3: really no knowledge of what he needed to say. And
- 33:45Speaker 3: he didn't want to say the wrong thing. And he
- 33:47Speaker 3: didn't say the wrong thing. I think he held his
- 33:49Speaker 3: own out there and understanding that, you know, hey, he
- 33:52Speaker 3: was sacrificial, man. So I believe he can get these
- 33:56Speaker 3: guys going. Now, when I say they can get these
- 33:59Speaker 3: guys going, it doesn't necessarily they're going to be winning.
- 34:02Speaker 2: They'll be competitive.
- 34:03Speaker 3: They were competitive these last couple games, even with, you know,
- 34:05Speaker 3: playing with the practice squad. But it's not necessarily that, man.
- 34:09Speaker 3: It's just, you know, it's eventually players are going to
- 34:12Speaker 3: be like.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Man, come on, man. We just ain't good enough, man.
- 34:16Speaker 2: And they see that.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And The thing what happens with that, and this is
- 34:20Speaker 3: what Nick has to worry about, is guys will start freestyling.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Guys will start doing their own thing. That's my point.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I went 3-13 because guys started freestyling.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Man, I'm going out there getting mine.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Man, I'm interviewing for 31 other teams, and that's when
- 34:35Speaker 3: things really go bad, man, when guys start doing their
- 34:37Speaker 3: own thing, man. So hopefully Nick will get it going.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Nick is, you know, I trust Nick. I think Nick
- 34:42Speaker 3: can go out there and make it happen. But I
- 34:44Speaker 3: just didn't like the way they held him. out there
- 34:46Speaker 3: and held him accountable for, you know, doing all that.
- 34:48Speaker 2: And, yes, he did.
- 34:50Speaker 3: He has his fair share of the reason why they're
- 34:52Speaker 3: not as good as they should be.
- 34:53Speaker 2: But still, man, to.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Be able to go out there and fill the team,
- 34:57Speaker 3: a healthy enough team to win a game, you know,
- 34:59Speaker 3: he just hadn't had that the past couple weeks.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but B.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Brooks, come on, man. I mean, look at how the
- 35:04Speaker 1: team is losing. You had Jacksonville where you wanted them.
- 35:10Speaker 1: You let them off the hook, okay?
- 35:11Speaker 2: All right? We let them off the hook.
- 35:15Speaker 1: That's demoralizing in itself. You had the Rams where you
- 35:18Speaker 1: wanted them. You let them off the hook. You got
- 35:21Speaker 1: within striking distance of Carolina. You let them off the hook.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I mean, players don't put on a uniform just to
- 35:29Speaker 1: play the game. Players put on a uniform to succeed, okay?
- 35:34Speaker 1: And everything that this team is trying over the last
- 35:37Speaker 1: several weeks has backfired on them. And after a while,
- 35:41Speaker 1: it gets demoralizing. You know, you go to practice with
- 35:45Speaker 1: a different mindset. You're not as enthusiastic. You know, and
- 35:48Speaker 1: like you said, you get out there on the field
- 35:50Speaker 1: game time. Well, you know what? I'm playing for me.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Forget all this mess, man. I'm going for mine. Ain't
- 35:55Speaker 1: nobody protecting me but me, you know. And so it
- 35:59Speaker 1: gets to a point where you have somebody jaw jacking
- 36:03Speaker 1: with each other before it's all said and done.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yep. Yep.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Nobody loves grilling more than me. Could be 30 degrees
- 36:09Speaker 5: and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks. But
- 36:12Speaker 5: the one thing, that I really can't stand is losing
- 36:15Speaker 5: my fish and my veggies because they just can't grill
- 36:19Speaker 5: without falling through. That's why I've been using Hexclad's BBQ Collection.
- 36:23Speaker 5: It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with products specifically designed to

- 36:57Speaker 5: surf and turf my style, which is salmon and ribs,
- 37:01Speaker 5: and lost none of it because I used Hexclad's BBQ Collection.

- 38:45Speaker 3: Up so i mean in a It has a lot
- 38:49Speaker 3: to do, man. I mean, giving nobody any excuses, man.
- 38:52Speaker 3: But it has a lot to do with the players
- 38:53Speaker 3: that they have out there, man. They just don't have enough.
- 38:56Speaker 3: You know, when you have that many starters go down
- 38:58Speaker 3: in that little time, man, of course it's going to
- 39:00Speaker 3: be hard to go out there and play competitive, man. So,
- 39:04Speaker 3: you know, he's stuck between a rock and a hard spot.
- 39:08Speaker 3: You know, he just doesn't have the horses to run
- 39:11Speaker 3: the race.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Right now he's got to put out ponies, man.
- 39:14Speaker 3: And, you know, this is not a place where, you know,
- 39:16Speaker 3: you can put out ponies and have You know, children's rise.
- 39:19Speaker 3: You got thoroughbreds out there trying to make it happen.
- 39:22Speaker 3: And right now we're trying to field ponies. It's just not,
- 39:25Speaker 3: you know, it's not conducive.
- 39:26Speaker 2: To win, man.
- 39:27Speaker 4: So they'll try. They'll do whatever it takes.
- 39:30Speaker 3: And right now they're just not good enough to put
- 39:33Speaker 3: themselves in a position where they can make the mistakes
- 39:36Speaker 3: they're making and still win a game. They got to
- 39:39Speaker 3: cut down on mistakes, get first and second down in
- 39:43Speaker 3: the positive. Hell, we still haven't scored in the first
- 39:46Speaker 3: quarter yet. How have you not scored in the first quarter?
- 39:49Speaker 3: You played five games. Please explain that to me.
- 39:53Speaker 1: And I wish they could leapfrog past the third quarter.
- 39:55Speaker 1: They can't score in the third quarter. And then you
- 39:57Speaker 1: look at it, man. It's funny, man, because usually your
- 40:02Speaker 1: best plays are the scripted. The first 15, some people
- 40:06Speaker 1: got the first 15 plays. Some people got the first
- 40:08Speaker 1: 20 plays. But those are usually where you get the gumption.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Those are usually the best plays that you have ready
- 40:14Speaker 1: to go. Our best plays ain't been going.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Anywhere, bro. So we'll, you know, we'll, we'll work it out, man.
- 40:21Speaker 2: We'll work it out.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Well, up next, a team is just as bad as
- 40:25Speaker 1: the Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys who just got manhandled by
- 40:29Speaker 1: the green Bay Packers on Sunday night. Now, of course
- 40:32Speaker 1: the Cowboys are coming here for a national audience to
- 40:37Speaker 1: see this Eagles team, to see what kind of Eagles
- 40:39Speaker 1: team will be on the field. And Jeffrey Lurie is
- 40:42Speaker 1: being honored at halftime. Um, Can you imagine if they
- 40:47Speaker 1: get embarrassed by the lowly Dallas Cowboys on a special
- 40:51Speaker 1: night honoring Jeffrey Lurie? Can you imagine what kind of
- 40:54Speaker 1: shockwave that will send through this fan base?
- 41:01Speaker 2: Your facial expression says it all. I tell no lies, man.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I just try to tell the truth, man. The truth
- 41:09Speaker 2: is we just don't have enough.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I mean, I believe our defense will be very competitive,
- 41:13Speaker 3: you know, going out and playing against, the guys that
- 41:16Speaker 3: they have that are going to be lining up, you
- 41:17Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, C.B.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Lamb and those guys. And George Pickens.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Tight ends are balling right now. You know, we'll be
- 41:23Speaker 3: competitive for the first half. And then we get into
- 41:27Speaker 3: the second half, and then the war with Trisha takes over.
- 41:30Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 41:31Speaker 3: And the offense, if they don't do their thing and
- 41:33Speaker 3: they don't come out and participate, man, Dallas can run.
- 41:36Speaker 2: The score up in the second half. You know what
- 41:38Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 41:38Speaker 3: I mean, you can go out there and play a
- 41:40Speaker 3: dominant style of football and And eventually, you know, the
- 41:44Speaker 3: defense played over.
- 41:45Speaker 2: 70 plays last week, man.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Yes. So you can't ask them to play great for
- 41:51Speaker 3: 70 plays. So, you know, I just think that, you know,
- 41:55Speaker 3: until the offense goes out and does their due diligence
- 41:59Speaker 3: and plays to a level in which they're competitive, at
- 42:02Speaker 3: least trying to score some points and not just in
- 42:05Speaker 3: the second quarter.
- 42:07Speaker 2: It'll be the same thing, man. Eventually, that defense.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Will be tired, man, from taking all those reps and
- 42:12Speaker 3: being on the field all those three and outs. And then,
- 42:14Speaker 3: you know, eventually, you're going to do something. You know
- 42:17Speaker 3: what I'm saying? You're going to be successful. I mean,
- 42:20Speaker 3: it's just the law of averages. You know, you're going
- 42:22Speaker 3: to be good at something. You know, the more plays
- 42:25Speaker 3: you have, the more of an opportunity you have to
- 42:29Speaker 3: at least break something. And that's what's going on with
- 42:31Speaker 3: this defense. You know, the law of averages just haven't
- 42:33Speaker 3: been in their favor. Until the offense goes out and
- 42:36Speaker 3: plays well, It'll be all for nine.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Well, win, lose, or draw, we will be here for
- 42:42Speaker 1: all of it next week. So until next week, for
- 42:45Speaker 1: my man Barrett Brooks, I'm Derrick Gunn. This has been
- 42:48Speaker 1: Birds Weekly. So long, everybody.
