- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey, guys. Welcome to another episode of the Almost Famous Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Ben and I are doing a fun little one today
- 0:12Speaker 2: where we're doing fan questions. And I just thought of
- 0:16Speaker 2: a question that I have for you, Ben. Since I, quote,
- 0:22Speaker 2: own a coffee shop, even though I have absolutely nothing
- 0:26Speaker 2: to do with the day-to-day or really anything.
- 0:28Speaker 3: You just pushed. You just placed a huge order today,
- 0:31Speaker 3: by the way.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure we did. That's awesome. And you own
- 0:36Speaker 2: a coffee company. I was thinking, what? How do you
- 0:39Speaker 2: make your own coffee at home? Like, what brand do
- 0:42Speaker 2: you use? I mean, I know you use Generous.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 2: But I mean, like, what coffee maker?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yeah, sure. Well, I like a good French press or
- 0:53Speaker 3: pour over. There's a many mornings where I just use
- 0:58Speaker 3: like the old school coffee maker. I mean, like I'm
- 1:01Speaker 3: not against it. I think it makes a great cup
- 1:02Speaker 3: of coffee. Here's the interesting thing. I used to really
- 1:07Speaker 3: love a vanilla latte. Uh, but after being in the
- 1:13Speaker 3: coffee world and traveling to the farms, seeing the work
- 1:17Speaker 3: that is put into each cup of coffee that we consume,
- 1:22Speaker 3: I drink it straight with nothing at it.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Um, Now you just drink black.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Just black. And I love it. It's great.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Why did seeing the effort make you go black.
- 1:36Speaker 3: No cream sugar? Yeah, great question. Well, one, every bean
- 1:43Speaker 3: is picked by hand when it's specialty coffee. So you
- 1:47Speaker 3: have people climbing up and down the side of a mountain,
- 1:49Speaker 3: usually family members or people from the local community. that
- 1:55Speaker 3: get brought in during harvest season, but they're like climbing
- 1:58Speaker 3: up and down these mountains with like a hundred pounds
- 1:59Speaker 3: of coffee on their back, picking each bean by hand.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Then you see the process of them scattering it out,
- 2:05Speaker 3: drying it out, then re packaging it into the bags
- 2:09Speaker 3: that end up showing up to generous or to whatever
- 2:14Speaker 3: roaster you consume. I hope it's generous. And so I
- 2:17Speaker 3: think it was just this, I think when you see
- 2:20Speaker 3: the art behind it and the, time into it. I
- 2:24Speaker 3: don't want to dilute, not that that's bad because I
- 2:27Speaker 3: know like producers who are growing and harvesting the coffee
- 2:31Speaker 3: that will add sugar or milk to their coffee. That's
- 2:34Speaker 3: not like a, a frowned upon thing. But I think
- 2:38Speaker 3: for me, I came back and said, I want to
- 2:40Speaker 3: like taste the coffee in its purest form as like a,
- 2:48Speaker 3: as like a little bit of a like ode to
- 2:51Speaker 3: the work put into it.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That's really sweet. Now, as you've developed that taste, do
- 2:59Speaker 2: you prefer it black or do you just still drink
- 3:02Speaker 2: it for the purity sake?
- 3:04Speaker 3: I don't really like cream or sugar in it. Also,
- 3:08Speaker 3: there's a health side to that. Like it's just extra calories.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Not that I'm counting calories, but it is, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 3: one of the sneaky ways to get out of shape
- 3:17Speaker 3: is to drink a lot of sugar in the course
- 3:19Speaker 3: of a day. And it's really easy to do, right?
- 3:21Speaker 3: Like juices, sodas. adding you know sugar to your coffee
- 3:25Speaker 3: you're just consuming sugar all day long so it's one
- 3:28Speaker 3: easy way for me to cut out that uh i'm
- 3:30Speaker 3: not like goodness i'm not a health nut by any
- 3:33Speaker 3: means but that was it is one idea i don't
- 3:37Speaker 3: love the idea like the idea of waking up in
- 3:40Speaker 3: the morning and having uh sugar i guess uh but
- 3:45Speaker 3: it's also i like bourbon so i like the like
- 3:49Speaker 3: kick like it kind of You know, I like the bitterness.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I like the the the kick in the morning. I
- 3:58Speaker 3: like spicy things like I like things that like wake
- 4:00Speaker 3: up my palate.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 3: What about you? I mean, you obviously are you do
- 4:06Speaker 3: own a coffee shop, one of America's best. But you're
- 4:12Speaker 3: probably in there quite a bit. What is your go to?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Well, what's funny is like one of the questions that
- 4:17Speaker 2: we got sent from one of our listeners via social
- 4:19Speaker 2: media is what kind of coffee do you guys drink? Like,
- 4:23Speaker 2: are you into seasonal drinks? And of course, I love
- 4:27Speaker 2: a pumpkin spice latte. What's funny is that like pumpkin
- 4:30Speaker 2: spice can either taste in like the same sip, taste
- 4:33Speaker 2: absolutely delicious and also taste kind of like throw up.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Interesting to you.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I don't know if this is specific
- 4:42Speaker 2: to me.
- 4:43Speaker 3: No, I get it. I get what you're saying.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Like it can almost taste like white your mouth. Like, yeah, disgusting.
- 4:51Speaker 2: But like, why is it so good? Yet also seems like,
- 4:55Speaker 2: is it so good at the same time? I do
- 4:57Speaker 2: like pumpkin spice in the fall. I do not like fall.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It is the one thing about fall that I like
- 5:04Speaker 2: is just, it's truly a brisk fall morning with a
- 5:09Speaker 2: pumpkin spice flavored coffee. That is the only ounce of
- 5:13Speaker 2: fall that I enjoy. Um, then I, but I'm basic. I,
- 5:19Speaker 2: I asked you the question because we just got an
- 5:22Speaker 2: espresso and I mean like truly, wow, what a basic
- 5:25Speaker 2: biatch I am. But I posted on Instagram a couple
- 5:29Speaker 2: of weeks ago. I was like, Hey, um, there's like
- 5:31Speaker 2: something about my Keurig, which is like grossing me. Like,
- 5:34Speaker 2: I just don't look forward to my morning coffee with
- 5:36Speaker 2: the Keurig anymore. What do you guys suggest? And half
- 5:42Speaker 2: the people. hundreds of people said, get an espresso. And
- 5:45Speaker 2: my sister like called me immediately after seeing the post.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And she was like, you need to get an espresso.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Got an espresso. I know it's basic, but solved my problems.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I enjoy my at-home cup of coffee now again.
- 5:57Speaker 3: But it's not generous. So you don't find that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 6:01Speaker 3: A little bit offensive to me.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Not a little bit because we buy plenty of generous
- 6:05Speaker 2: for the coffee shop. You do that.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you make up for it there. Yeah, I think
- 6:11Speaker 3: Nespresso does a great job.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Ben, I don't like the drip coffee from home anymore.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Like the pot, like a pot of coffee. I don't
- 6:19Speaker 2: know whether it's my maker or not, but Jared and
- 6:21Speaker 2: I used to make delicious just pots of old fashioned coffee.
- 6:25Speaker 2: And I don't know what happened to the maker or whatever.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Or if it's a different one, it's just not yummy
- 6:33Speaker 2: from the pot. It tastes like soap to me or something.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Well, you probably are washing it with soap and not
- 6:38Speaker 3: getting all the soap out. It must be deep in there.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Were you brewing generous at home?
- 6:45Speaker 2: No, because I just want, like, I was doing, we
- 6:49Speaker 2: wouldn't grind the things. We would barely ever make a pot.
- 6:53Speaker 2: This is like years ago.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Well, you do make up for it. We can go, go.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you make up for it in your purchasing for Audrey's,
- 7:02Speaker 3: and I appreciate that. I would say everybody out there,
- 7:07Speaker 3: consider serving generous at your home. That would be a
- 7:11Speaker 3: big win for all of us.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You need to make.
- 7:14Speaker 3: You know what we're supporting right now? No, I don't.
- 7:19Speaker 3: There's this really cool organization in Indiana that's getting beds
- 7:24Speaker 3: for kids that have grown up without a bed. So
- 7:28Speaker 3: they're making sure that they like have a comfy bed
- 7:30Speaker 3: to sleep in with blankets and stuff for the winter, especially.
- 7:35Speaker 3: You'd be amazed at how many kids go without having
- 7:38Speaker 3: a bed to sleep on in their home. And so
- 7:41Speaker 3: this is the organization we're supporting right now. So this
- 7:44Speaker 3: holiday season, if you want to go support something good,
- 7:46Speaker 3: go buy some generous for you and your friends. Ashley,
- 7:49Speaker 3: this is an episode where we're answering listener questions. Um,
- 7:53Speaker 3: if you want to ask us a question for the future, uh,
- 7:57Speaker 3: go to and message us at the almost underscore famous podcast,
- 8:01Speaker 3: or leave us a message at eight, four, four, five. Almost.
- 8:05Speaker 3: We want to answer anything. Uh, this question is from
- 8:09Speaker 3: D guard child. One, two, eight, three.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Ashley, you ready?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Can we talk about the latest unfair dancing with the
- 8:18Speaker 3: stars elimination?
- 8:20Speaker 2: Do you know what she's referring to?
- 8:22Speaker 3: Taylor Hanson has to be. And his partner, Britt, right?
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So Taylor and Britt got higher scores than Guillermo, which is,
- 8:32Speaker 2: you guys know Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel. So this happens
- 8:37Speaker 2: frequently in Dancing with the Stars. Taylor, I mean, obviously
- 8:42Speaker 2: wasn't one of the greatest dancers of that celebrity group,
- 8:46Speaker 2: but people will say that he should have gotten especially Britt, too.
- 8:50Speaker 2: People really love Britt and think that she's been screwed
- 8:52Speaker 2: over the past couple of seasons and like she hasn't
- 8:55Speaker 2: had her shining star moment, but she's considered a leader
- 8:57Speaker 2: amongst a lot of the dancers. So they got eliminated
- 9:02Speaker 2: this week, even though their scores were better than Guillermo's.
- 9:06Speaker 2: And I mean, like, I get it. It's obviously unfair,
- 9:09Speaker 2: but like it's kind of like part reality show, part like,
- 9:13Speaker 2: you know, fan favorite situation. I don't know. Like, remember
- 9:17Speaker 2: when Andy Richter got so far?
- 9:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but fan favorite feels weird because I think Taylor
- 9:22Speaker 3: Hanson would be a fan favorite.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It has more fans than Guillermo. Yeah, I mean, like,
- 9:26Speaker 2: I don't get it. Obviously, you're talking to a fanson
- 9:28Speaker 2: right now. I wish I could. Taylor just, like, seemed
- 9:32Speaker 2: to have gotten so emotionally invested. Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Britt has fans. Like, you would think that. Okay, I
- 9:40Speaker 3: would understand if they didn't win the whole thing.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 9:42Speaker 3: It's just odd that they got eliminated so early when
- 9:45Speaker 3: you're looking at, when you compare everybody side by side.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that Taylor was going to go really
- 9:51Speaker 2: far because fans are really crazy. Like I could see
- 9:56Speaker 2: really hardcore fans that have followed them for the past
- 9:59Speaker 2: 30 years, like actual fans. being on the phones, just insane,
- 10:02Speaker 2: insane amounts. Um, I can't say that I understand it
- 10:07Speaker 2: with the stars. Like the reason that I never got
- 10:09Speaker 2: into it is because I feel like when I watch
- 10:13Speaker 2: people dance, I'm either, I'm impressed by all of it.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I agree.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I am so bad at dancing that if you can
- 10:20Speaker 2: memorize a dance and then perform it in front of
- 10:23Speaker 2: millions of people and look pretty decent doing it, I
- 10:26Speaker 2: am like, wow, eights at least. When they give fives,
- 10:31Speaker 2: I'm like, that was a five? I would have zeros
- 10:36Speaker 2: on the show. I would get zeros. I am so
- 10:39Speaker 2: bad at dancing, and everything that I've ever seen on
- 10:41Speaker 2: Dancing with the Stars looks good to me, looks nice.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I can tell when it's like an, a wowie zowie.
- 10:48Speaker 2: But for the most part, I just think everybody looks
- 10:50Speaker 2: like they're doing a good job. I'm just not a
- 10:51Speaker 2: dance critic. When it comes to music, like American Idol,
- 10:54Speaker 2: I know what sounds good to my ears and what doesn't. Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 2: But dancing, it all looks pretty nice to me.
- 11:01Speaker 3: It's funny. I was on social media this week prepping
- 11:05Speaker 3: for this and reading some of the criticisms. Each person's dance,
- 11:11Speaker 3: like the whole, you know, every time somebody dances, everybody
- 11:13Speaker 3: gets on, especially X and kind of comments on it.
- 11:18Speaker 3: And I found it wild, wild how we're criticizing these
- 11:23Speaker 3: celebrities like they're professional dancers.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:26Speaker 3: And I don't even know what I was looking at.
- 11:28Speaker 3: One of the people's comments were like, look at this dance.
- 11:31Speaker 3: It's pretty much like it was so bad. Look at
- 11:33Speaker 3: the two step or whatever. And I'm watching, I'm like,
- 11:36Speaker 3: I'm with you. I was like, that looked awesome. Like
- 11:38Speaker 3: that was so much better than I could do.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Seriously. Seriously. I can't even express how crappy I
- 11:46Speaker 2: would be.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Do you think there's a collusion on Dancing with the Stars?
- 11:50Speaker 2: That's what people say. There's rumors about this. I don't know.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I guess there's always going to be rumors when it
- 11:57Speaker 2: comes to Dancing with the Stars and American Idol and
- 11:59Speaker 2: Voice and such where it's like how much vote really counts.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I would like to think it's all legit.
- 12:06Speaker 3: It kind of has to be, right? It's a game show.
- 12:08Speaker 3: It's in the game show category so there's There's legislation
- 12:12Speaker 3: that makes it fair that it has to be at least,
- 12:16Speaker 3: you know, the algorithm has to be presented in some way.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I know there is no prize money, so maybe that
- 12:24Speaker 3: is a way to get around it. But in a
- 12:26Speaker 3: lot of ways, you could argue there is prize money
- 12:29Speaker 3: because the longer you're on the season, the more you
- 12:31Speaker 3: get paid.
- 12:33Speaker 2: That's true. With American Idol, not to keep comparing, but
- 12:36Speaker 2: that was all fan votes.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Not any judge votes. there was like no judge votes
- 12:43Speaker 2: and the voting times were a lot longer.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 12:47Speaker 2: How did they make that fair on dancing with the stars?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Like everybody has the same amount. Does everybody have the
- 12:52Speaker 2: same amount of voting time? I guess so.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I would guess so. You know, what's going to
- 12:57Speaker 3: be interesting to me. We're obviously coming up on in
- 12:59Speaker 3: November to the midterm elections. You know, there's probably some
- 13:04Speaker 3: big races going on in your local area. Uh, I'd
- 13:07Speaker 3: be curious to see the numbers side by side on
- 13:10Speaker 3: once the midterms come out, who voted, like who had
- 13:13Speaker 3: received more votes, dance with the stars or like our
- 13:17Speaker 3: political system.
- 13:19Speaker 2: American Idol, again, not to bring it up, used to
- 13:21Speaker 2: definitely bring in more votes, but then again, one person
- 13:24Speaker 2: could vote a bajillion times with American Idol. Like I
- 13:27Speaker 2: used to be on the phone for American Idol for
- 13:30Speaker 2: legitimately two full hours. Cause you were allowed to do
- 13:32Speaker 2: it for two full hours. And I would, I mean,
- 13:34Speaker 2: this is who I am. You know what I mean?
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 2: As an obsessive person. And I would be on the
- 13:40Speaker 2: phone and I would tally how many times I got through. Because, like,
- 13:44Speaker 2: sometimes you wouldn't get through. And it was always concerning
- 13:47Speaker 2: when you got through too many times.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Oh, wait. Did you find this a worthy pursuit?
- 13:52Speaker 2: I loved it. I was fully fulfilled by it.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Two hours just voting. And thank you. Thanks for voting
- 13:59Speaker 2: for me. Blake. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then
- 14:04Speaker 2: again and again and again. I think I got, like,
- 14:06Speaker 2: it was about, like, 100 times. I got about 50
- 14:08Speaker 2: an hour.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Oh, Ashley, just being in the same house as you
- 14:13Speaker 3: for a week would be so funny.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I wish it was like this still. You know, I can't, like,
- 14:17Speaker 2: be fully as obsessive anymore. Nor do I find, like,
- 14:21Speaker 2: I have obsessiveness.
- 14:21Speaker 3: You feel like a piece of your heart is missing?
- 14:24Speaker 2: I just, you know.
- 14:26Speaker 1: No. No.
- 14:27Speaker 2: But it's funny, like, what I used to do. It's
- 14:31Speaker 2: not really funny. I totally get it.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Next question is from Katie Wilk, 16. How did the
- 14:46Speaker 3: two of you end up hosting together? She says, love
- 14:50Speaker 3: your banter. That's sweet.
- 14:52Speaker 2: So sweet. We ended up hosting together because Amy Sugarman,
- 14:57Speaker 2: our wonderful executive producer over here.
- 14:59Speaker 3: She's like the Andy Cohen of. pop culture.
- 15:03Speaker 4: She is the andy cohen of iheart yes except.
- 15:07Speaker 3: She shows up less like we don't ever like you never.
- 15:10Speaker 4: See her that's because she doesn't fly anywhere amy's like
- 15:15Speaker 4: oh you come join us and do these fun things
- 15:17Speaker 4: it's like only in la or san francisco or tahoe
- 15:20Speaker 4: because guys amy doesn't fly she hasn't flown since 1999.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I can't believe that woman hasn't been to new york
- 15:27Speaker 2: since 1999 that's wild um So we love Amy so
- 15:32Speaker 2: much and she put us together. She just thought that
- 15:35Speaker 2: we would have a good silly dynamic where it's like I, Ashley, fangirl,
- 15:40Speaker 2: somehow ended up on her favorite show with Mr. You know,
- 15:45Speaker 2: the perfect Ben and lead of the show. More serious,
- 15:51Speaker 2: very gentlemanly with like this absolute hee hee hee in me.
- 15:56Speaker 3: It was fun. I mean, you know, there is a
- 15:58Speaker 3: backstory to it. So I had gotten off of... What
- 16:03Speaker 3: was the show called? With Lauren and I.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Happily Ever After?
- 16:09Speaker 3: Happily Ever After, question mark. And because of that show,
- 16:15Speaker 3: I couldn't do the Dancing with the Stars. It was
- 16:18Speaker 3: same time, right after the filming of The Bachelor. I
- 16:20Speaker 3: don't really know the behind the scenes of how they
- 16:23Speaker 3: chose what I did and not do. But after Happily
- 16:27Speaker 3: Ever After, it was.
- 16:30Speaker 3: The week that we announced our breakup, it actually might
- 16:35Speaker 3: have been day of.
- 16:36Speaker 2: It was so awkward, Ben. Yeah.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Amy calls me because she had originally set up this
- 16:40Speaker 3: show for Chris Harrison. It was Chris was going to
- 16:44Speaker 3: host it and they had it all planned out. But
- 16:48Speaker 3: then he was still hosting The Bachelor at the time.
- 16:51Speaker 3: The Bachelor came and said, hey, you can't be like
- 16:54Speaker 3: the behind the scenes guy when you know everything behind
- 16:56Speaker 3: the scenes. This doesn't make sense. And I think it
- 16:59Speaker 3: was one of those mutually agreed upon, yeah, it doesn't
- 17:01Speaker 3: make sense for you to host this show. So Amy
- 17:04Speaker 3: was looking for a host. Now, flashback a little bit
- 17:10Speaker 3: to how I know I got the role. I was
- 17:13Speaker 3: in Vegas right after I was The Bachelor. JoJo's Season
- 17:17Speaker 3: was airing on television. iHeart was doing a big panel
- 17:23Speaker 3: with a lot of the contestants from JoJo's Season. They
- 17:26Speaker 3: got clearance to do these interviews. While the season was airing,
- 17:30Speaker 3: it was going to be a lot of fun. And
- 17:31Speaker 3: a friend of mine was going to host that panel
- 17:35Speaker 3: for iHeart. The friend ended up not feeling well and
- 17:40Speaker 3: not being able to get out of bed. And so
- 17:42Speaker 3: everybody shows up to the panel. He has to bow
- 17:44Speaker 3: out last minute. Everybody's sitting in the green room to
- 17:47Speaker 3: walk out to the audience. And I'm in there and
- 17:52Speaker 3: Amy looks at me and she says, we need a host. Ben,
- 17:54Speaker 3: can you host this?
- 17:56Speaker 2: A friend of yours, part of the show?
- 17:58Speaker 3: Part of the show I'm not gonna out him on this.
- 18:03Speaker 2: I feel like I may have an idea who it is.
- 18:05Speaker 3: And so I said yeah I can host this I
- 18:07Speaker 3: don't know what we're hosting but yes I can ask
- 18:10Speaker 3: the questions to these guys because I was just there
- 18:11Speaker 3: kind of to hang out I wasn't even on the
- 18:13Speaker 3: panel I was just it was going to be a
- 18:15Speaker 3: JoJo season panel I said that's great I'll do that
- 18:18Speaker 3: we step up we have a great time I walk
- 18:20Speaker 3: off stage and Amy tells me hey I had this
- 18:23Speaker 3: show for Chris Harrison we still want to do it
- 18:26Speaker 3: would you want to co-host this with Ashley. And I said,
- 18:30Speaker 3: I would love to host with Ashley. I didn't know
- 18:34Speaker 3: you very well at the time.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I still fangirled over Ben. I was like, what?
- 18:38Speaker 1: Me?
- 18:39Speaker 3: I was nervous to talk to Ashley.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Why?
- 18:42Speaker 3: Because you're a big deal.
- 18:43Speaker 2: The least nerve-wracking person to ever be around.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Well, I think after 11 years, I would agree.
- 18:47Speaker 2: He's like, maybe after 11 minutes, I would have agreed.
- 18:53Speaker 3: But our first episode was us talking about the breakup.
- 18:57Speaker 3: And it was a very like sensitive, emotional time for me.
- 19:00Speaker 3: There was still a lot that I was processing. I
- 19:02Speaker 3: just need, I wanted this job. And so Amy was like,
- 19:06Speaker 3: you need to talk about it. And I'm like, I
- 19:08Speaker 3: don't want to talk about it. Like, it doesn't make
- 19:09Speaker 3: sense if you don't, I don't know if it was
- 19:11Speaker 3: a good decision or bad. I look back and like,
- 19:13Speaker 3: that was such a brutal couple of weeks. But the
- 19:17Speaker 3: funny part to finish this thought is Ashley and myself
- 19:22Speaker 3: we used to do this whole show by calling each
- 19:25Speaker 3: other and three-waying in iHeart. We used to do this
- 19:28Speaker 3: whole thing over the phone. It was a big step
- 19:31Speaker 3: for us to end up, one, getting in person in LA.
- 19:34Speaker 2: You used to. I used to be in the audience.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, because you were in LA at the time.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And you would call in. And then I would three-way in. Yeah.
- 19:41Speaker 3: And then every once in a while, I could show
- 19:43Speaker 3: up to LA and do it in person. Those are
- 19:46Speaker 3: always some of my favorite times. They still are my favorite, really.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Yeah, they're so fun. I miss the studio.
- 19:50Speaker 3: But then COVID happened and Zoom obviously took over. But
- 19:56Speaker 3: a lot of things have changed. I will say this.
- 19:58Speaker 3: I'm proud of this, Ashley. We are the first podcast
- 20:05Speaker 3: to really take off underneath the iHeart umbrella. They obviously
- 20:09Speaker 3: acquired some other companies along the way.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I feel cool about that, too.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we were the, like, pioneers.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I know. We were the pioneers under Amy's, like, pop
- 20:17Speaker 2: culture umbrella. Well, I mean, I guess there's a zillion
- 20:19Speaker 2: pop culture umbrellas, but there's a lot under Amy's that
- 20:22Speaker 2: you know. And now the Jonas podcast is, so I
- 20:25Speaker 2: just feel pretty cool about that.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yes, so we were paired up by Amy, and we
- 20:32Speaker 2: are forever grateful for.
- 20:34Speaker 3: And if you love our banter, I do think it's
- 20:36Speaker 3: because I really love Ashley. It is fun for me
- 20:39Speaker 3: to talk to her.
- 20:40Speaker 2: It is so fun. I noticed a couple years in,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I was like, wait a second. Ben is one of
- 20:45Speaker 2: my best friends.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yeah. I would call Ashley about a lot of things
- 20:50Speaker 3: that I needed to talk to her about.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Same. Really. It's like me, when I need some advice,
- 20:58Speaker 2: it's like I go to my dad and Jared and
- 21:01Speaker 2: my sister and then Ben.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 2: And my mom, of course, but my mom is mostly like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: she's so gentle.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Like if I needed.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Somebody to like, be like, you need to take action
- 21:10Speaker 2: in this way.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you'd be the right. It's, it's the same thing.
- 21:14Speaker 3: 11 years in, we're having a blast doing it. Uh,
- 21:18Speaker 3: and only better things to come. Goodness. It's been a blast. Uh, okay.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Siyab Han 26. What's your dream guest to have on? Ooh, Ashley.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I feel like you have answered. I mean, we haven't
- 21:37Speaker 3: had all the dream guests of yours, but we probably could.
- 21:40Speaker 3: If we wanted a Jonas brother on, we could probably
- 21:42Speaker 3: have him on next week if we really wanted. We've
- 21:44Speaker 3: had so many. I remember when Lance Bass came on
- 21:48Speaker 3: in Vegas.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Lance was so cool.
- 21:50Speaker 3: You were so excited. It was unreal. I think Peyton
- 21:54Speaker 3: Manning might be mine.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Okay. So, like, this is outside of the Bachelor world.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Well, yeah, but I think Peyton could come on and
- 22:03Speaker 3: talk about reality television.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Okay. Well, then, yeah, I guess my dream guest would
- 22:12Speaker 2: be having a Jonas Brother on. And then, I mean,
- 22:18Speaker 2: that's definitely the answer. If I'm going to go into
- 22:21Speaker 2: the Bachelor realm.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I would say that we've had all of the dream
- 22:23Speaker 3: guests on.
- 22:29Speaker 2: But I love to have, like, the ones that I
- 22:32Speaker 2: feel like are always great gets. Chris Harrison, who will
- 22:37Speaker 2: be coming on in a couple weeks.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Talk about the vow.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I think it's great when Hannah Brown's on. Tyler will
- 22:46Speaker 2: probably be on soon. Those are good ones. Who has, like,
- 22:52Speaker 2: not been on enough? Like, I don't think Sean Lowe's
- 22:54Speaker 2: been on enough.
- 22:56Speaker 3: He hasn't. No, that, yeah, Sean Lowe would be a
- 22:58Speaker 3: good one. I mean, some of those like iconic people.
- 23:01Speaker 3: I mean, I know right now Tyler's name's huge because
- 23:04Speaker 3: he's on Dance with the Stars.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Emily Maynard, I always say she doesn't really do podcasts.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Would love to have her on. She's never been on.
- 23:11Speaker 2: It's probably the answer. JoJo and Jordan together. Never had them.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I mean, we've had JoJo once.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I was actually going to say, I think I'm
- 23:19Speaker 3: in a really, and this goes for everybody.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I find it.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Exhilarating, like a little nerve wracking. I get a little
- 23:29Speaker 3: bit tense, not with Jojo as much. Cause I just
- 23:32Speaker 3: think I've always thought Jojo is great. And I think
- 23:34Speaker 3: her and Jordan together are the coolest two people to
- 23:37Speaker 3: talk to. And I know they're fun to talk to. Um,
- 23:41Speaker 3: I do get excited, nervous less often now than I
- 23:46Speaker 3: did 11 years ago doing this with whoever comes on,
- 23:49Speaker 3: but I do find it fun to have past contestants
- 23:53Speaker 3: from the season of the bachelor that I was on
- 23:57Speaker 3: coming on the show. Like, I think it's fun to
- 23:59Speaker 3: catch up with these girls again. I don't get to
- 24:02Speaker 3: in my everyday life often. This is a good platform
- 24:06Speaker 3: to do it. And whatever they believe or not, and
- 24:11Speaker 3: I think they probably, for the most part, do believe it,
- 24:14Speaker 3: I get really pumped up to see where they're at
- 24:16Speaker 3: in their life now. It's exciting to know what they
- 24:19Speaker 3: were doing 10 years ago and what they were looking for.
- 24:23Speaker 3: And then to see so many of them now crushing
- 24:26Speaker 3: it in their careers or as parents or in their
- 24:30Speaker 3: love life. It's just fun for me. And so I
- 24:34Speaker 3: think those would be my dream guests. If at some
- 24:36Speaker 3: point we could just keep like a weekly funnel of
- 24:39Speaker 3: here's a new person leading up to, you know, that
- 24:42Speaker 3: would be fun for me.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Oh, guess what? We're having Chris soul's bachelor girls reunion
- 24:48Speaker 2: part two. If we're making an annual thing, it's been
- 24:51Speaker 2: two weeks. Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 3: That's so good. Um, okay. Will we be breaking down
- 24:57Speaker 3: the vow is the final question here. Um, before we
- 25:01Speaker 3: break down what's happening with the vow and Warner brothers. Yes,
- 25:06Speaker 3: of course we break down the vow. We're very excited
- 25:08Speaker 3: for the vow, but let's not dismiss the fact that
- 25:11Speaker 3: we still want to see the bachelor be successful. We're
- 25:13Speaker 3: not seeing this as pick a side. Uh, I just
- 25:18Speaker 3: don't know what the bachelor is doing. So it's impossible
- 25:20Speaker 3: for us to be like, yeah, rally behind the bachelor
- 25:22Speaker 3: and the vow. Um, When The Bachelor has no content
- 25:25Speaker 3: that they're promoting.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Like, let's talk about this for a second. It's October 5th.
- 25:30Speaker 2: There has been no Bachelor chosen. Normally, we'd be weeks
- 25:34Speaker 2: into filming.
- 25:35Speaker 3: How hard is it to pick a guy? They found me. Like,
- 25:39Speaker 3: I was selling software. How hard is it?
- 25:41Speaker 2: I know you were selling software and writing instructions in
- 25:43Speaker 2: tiny manuals, but they found you, and you were a diamond,
- 25:48Speaker 2: and they found Jared, and I don't even know how
- 25:50Speaker 2: I'm married to this man. This morning, I woke up.
- 25:52Speaker 2: He woke up Dawson. He wakes up Dawson and gets
- 25:56Speaker 2: him ready all the time. He had packed his lunch.
- 25:57Speaker 2: He cleaned up the entire kitchen, did all the dishes,
- 26:00Speaker 2: cleaned the entire family room. I'm like, who are you?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Stop making me look bad every day of my life.
- 26:08Speaker 3: And he probably would look so good doing it.
- 26:10Speaker 2: And he looks so good doing it. And I come
- 26:12Speaker 2: out in my disgusting Halloween pajamas looking an absolute wreck.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Being like, oh, hey, I guess I'll brush Dawson's teeth
- 26:21Speaker 2: since you've gotten him ready. And he's like, nope, I
- 26:24Speaker 2: already brushed his teeth. Okay. All right. I'll just go
- 26:28Speaker 2: retreat now.
- 26:29Speaker 3: I'm just so sorry. I'm just going to go talk
- 26:31Speaker 3: to Ben about coffee. Jesus Christ. Yeah, we'll be breaking
- 26:36Speaker 3: down the vow. We want to see The Bachelor successful.
- 26:39Speaker 3: We obviously are excited for the vow. I think it's
- 26:41Speaker 3: going to be fantastic. And it is going to be
- 26:44Speaker 3: great to see Chris Harrison on our screens. Again, this
- 26:47Speaker 3: brings us into our final topic to discuss here, Ashley.
- 26:52Speaker 3: In a letter obtained by Variety, sent September 18th, WBTV,
- 26:58Speaker 3: the studio that produces The Bachelor, sent a cease and
- 27:03Speaker 3: desist letter to Fox Nation claiming the new series appears
- 27:06Speaker 3: to be, through promos, only through promos, a plain attempt
- 27:10Speaker 3: to capitalize on and ride the coattails of WB's instantly
- 27:17Speaker 3: recognizable intellectual property and the franchise's goodwill in violation, state
- 27:23Speaker 3: and federal trademark, copyright, and unfair competition laws. Without having
- 27:27Speaker 3: seen the series itself, they cannot comment on it and
- 27:30Speaker 3: reserve all right and connection therewith. To be clear, though,
- 27:35Speaker 3: we have no objection, WBTV says, to Fox and Lionsgate
- 27:39Speaker 3: releasing a dating show hosted by Chris Harrison in and
- 27:42Speaker 3: of itself. But thus far, Fox and Lionsgate have promoted
- 27:46Speaker 3: the series entirely on the back of the franchise, not
- 27:49Speaker 3: on its own merits. So, in short, WBTV is suing
- 27:56Speaker 3: Not suing. Cease and desisting. Cease and desisting.
- 28:01Speaker 2: They're asking for them to stop. That's what that means.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Promoting the show in such a fashion.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Because they think it is riding the coattails of
- 28:12Speaker 3: The Bachelor. I would say this. 100% there is innuendo
- 28:18Speaker 3: to The Bachelor in those promos. you know, stepping on roses.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Do I think WBTV or The Bachelor owns the rights
- 28:27Speaker 3: to roses? I don't know how they would get the
- 28:29Speaker 3: trademark to a rose.
- 28:33Speaker 2: In Fox's response, they said, you guys, basically in layman's terms,
- 28:38Speaker 2: you guys don't own roses. You don't own falling roses.
- 28:41Speaker 2: In fact, Beauty and the Beast, American Beauty said, And
- 28:46Speaker 2: Moulin Rouge also use falling roses in their promotional materials.
- 28:51Speaker 2: It symbolizes those movies as well as your show, you know,
- 28:56Speaker 2: You Can't Really Own a Flower. I'll give you a
- 29:00Speaker 2: little secret here. I've received one cease and desist. Actually,
- 29:04Speaker 2: it wasn't to me personally. It was to a production company.
- 29:07Speaker 2: And it was very similar to this. It was a
- 29:11Speaker 2: YouTube show that we wanted to... It basically was like a...
- 29:14Speaker 2: A public sizzle reel. Where we were going to follow
- 29:19Speaker 2: the lives of... You know this.
- 29:21Speaker 3: This is years ago.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Me, Jade, Tanner, Jared, and Nick. And we were going to...
- 29:28Speaker 2: It was called Rosebuds. Which I came up with the
- 29:31Speaker 2: title Rosebuds. And, well, they said that altogether that there
- 29:36Speaker 2: was too much likeliness to their cast. So it was...
- 29:40Speaker 2: they owned us in the fact that we were all together.
- 29:43Speaker 2: And the name Rosebuds had to be definitely swashed. They
- 29:49Speaker 2: said it would let it go forward if we changed
- 29:51Speaker 2: the name. So again, they said cease and desist Rosebuds. Again,
- 29:57Speaker 2: saying that they owned roses. I'm like, okay. I don't
- 30:03Speaker 2: want to upset you guys.
- 30:04Speaker 3: We don't have Fox money to fight this.
- 30:06Speaker 2: No, I appreciate you guys so much. Of course, we'll
- 30:09Speaker 2: change the name, right? And we all know so many
- 30:14Speaker 2: of our castmates from Bachelor have gotten cease and desist
- 30:17Speaker 2: for various reasons.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:21Speaker 2: But I would think that you and I both saw
- 30:23Speaker 2: this promo for The Vow and we thought, oh, here
- 30:26Speaker 2: comes the cease and desist. It is being crafted right now.
- 30:31Speaker 2: But the thing is, we didn't really want... We don't
- 30:36Speaker 2: want to do anything. We'll cease and desist. Yeah, I'm good. Again,
- 30:39Speaker 2: we don't have Fox money. Okay, we're good. But with Chris,
- 30:44Speaker 2: in this case, this is Fox. This is their decision.
- 30:48Speaker 2: They knew that it was spicy.
- 30:51Speaker 3: They're not scared.
- 30:52Speaker 2: They're not scared. And so if.
- 30:55Speaker 2: If Warner Brothers really wanted to bring them to court
- 30:57Speaker 2: and said like, oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. We actually do.
- 31:01Speaker 2: We own roses. They know that that's not going to
- 31:03Speaker 2: stand up in court, that they don't own roses.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it goes back to the bigger conversation
- 31:10Speaker 3: of what is, I'll just say the Bachelor franchises. What
- 31:15Speaker 3: is their plan and strategy in the modern area to
- 31:20Speaker 3: uplift and support They're cast members who have gone on
- 31:24Speaker 3: to do great things. We tied this conversation a few
- 31:28Speaker 3: weeks ago when it came to like you on The
- 31:30Speaker 3: Real Housewives of Rhode Island. And then obviously we've been
- 31:34Speaker 3: breaking down all these other shows that former cast members
- 31:37Speaker 3: of The Bachelor have gone on. And for me, I
- 31:41Speaker 3: hear the idea of Rosebuds as an example and think
- 31:44Speaker 3: that is only good for the show. It only promotes
- 31:47Speaker 3: this Bachelor world in another way that they're not paying
- 31:50Speaker 3: for nor producing nor involved in. I don't know why
- 31:54Speaker 3: they put the stop to this stuff. That has yet
- 31:56Speaker 3: to be clear to me because instead they have all
- 31:58Speaker 3: these other shows that are competing against The Bachelor and
- 32:02Speaker 3: those cast members going off to do crazy good things. Um,
- 32:05Speaker 3: Bravo is a great example and they, you know, for
- 32:08Speaker 3: the most part, get behind those people and try to
- 32:10Speaker 3: uplift them and get them more opportunities, more, you know, publicity,
- 32:15Speaker 3: more exposure where the bachelor feels like they kind of
- 32:18Speaker 3: put this like umbrella over you for a long period
- 32:22Speaker 3: of your life and say, you can't do anything outside
- 32:27Speaker 3: of this franchise, which makes it really hard when the
- 32:30Speaker 3: franchise is doing nothing right now for themselves.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 2: So we should read what they said. So Fox basically
- 32:41Speaker 2: said there's a there's the there's the roses. There's a
- 32:44Speaker 2: mansion in the background. And then they're like, well, not
- 32:49Speaker 2: Harrison himself, but Harrison himself along the side of roses
- 32:54Speaker 2: and a mansion that just feels very much of an
- 32:58Speaker 2: infringement on our. What is it like brainchild? And this
- 33:04Speaker 2: is what Fox responded with. Your letter also focuses myopically.
- 33:09Speaker 2: This is to convey that The Vow offers a different
- 33:12Speaker 2: approach from other dating shows. By placing the focus on
- 33:16Speaker 2: meaningful relationships, commitment, and building a life together, your letter
- 33:20Speaker 2: appears designed to vindicate legitimate copyright and trademark interests, not
- 33:26Speaker 2: to vindicate legitimate copyright and trademark interests, but to restrict
- 33:30Speaker 2: Fox Nation and Chris Harrison from promoting a competing dating show.
- 33:35Speaker 2: It's unfortunate that Warner Brothers is targeting Mr. Harrison in
- 33:39Speaker 2: this malicious and vindictive manner. And then they final, they
- 33:44Speaker 2: close it by saying, the vow exhorts its participants and
- 33:50Speaker 2: viewers to choose love. And we trust that Warner Brothers
- 33:52Speaker 2: will do the same and drop its pursuits in these
- 33:56Speaker 2: meritless claims. Basically, they just want Warner to choose love.
- 34:07Speaker 2: So corny, but also amazing.
- 34:09Speaker 3: I just want to be behind the scenes. There's so
- 34:12Speaker 3: much happening right now. I don't quite... I get it.
- 34:16Speaker 3: I understand why Warner's upset. I get it.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Let's just say it. Let's just say it honestly.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I understand why Warner is upset because... Somehow, someway,
- 34:26Speaker 3: Chris Harrison, his timing is so good. He literally is
- 34:30Speaker 3: stepping in with this show in the midst of a
- 34:34Speaker 3: down season. And that was not strategically planned, I don't believe.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I think it was good timing for him to have
- 34:42Speaker 3: this idea for a show that he found the differentiator
- 34:47Speaker 3: in what was out there in the market and what
- 34:48Speaker 3: could be possible is to do a show that promoted...
- 34:52Speaker 3: what he's and the show is calling traditional values, which
- 34:56Speaker 3: The Bachelor would be the closest thing on television to
- 34:59Speaker 3: that back in the day.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 3: So he is coming out with a show, though, that
- 35:03Speaker 3: is focused on that. And it just happens to be
- 35:06Speaker 3: already filmed in production in the midst of a downtime
- 35:12Speaker 3: for The Bachelor. And this trailer was definitely stepping on
- 35:20Speaker 3: The idea that The Bachelor is nowhere to be found
- 35:22Speaker 3: right now, even though we do still want it to
- 35:25Speaker 3: be found.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I know.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Don't want you to hear us wrong. We don't want
- 35:28Speaker 3: The Bachelor to go away. It is not something that
- 35:31Speaker 3: I think is fun. It's a great part of our
- 35:33Speaker 3: life when it's good and it's done well. It's a
- 35:36Speaker 3: fun watch. However, my honest thought is this was not
- 35:41Speaker 3: a battle Warner needed to pick because all it does
- 35:45Speaker 3: is bring free promotion to Chris's show and And I
- 35:49Speaker 3: don't think it's a battle they win. I don't know
- 35:53Speaker 3: how they win it.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It looks like they're jealous.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Yes, that's how it looks to me.
- 35:58Speaker 2: It looks like they're like, he's got interest. He got
- 36:04Speaker 2: people's interest. And we don't want that. And it's like, guys,
- 36:09Speaker 2: so sorry. You fired him. You fired him. So now
- 36:13Speaker 2: you have to accept.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I think the public opinion is he did not get fired.
- 36:17Speaker 3: It was a mutual departure.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Oh, please now. That's the public opinion? Or is that
- 36:24Speaker 2: the contractual verbiage?
- 36:26Speaker 3: I think it's the verbiage that we use. I think they,
- 36:31Speaker 3: if we look back, I think it was a, it was...
- 36:34Speaker 3: a forced departure on both sides to say, this is
- 36:38Speaker 3: no longer a good, healthy relationship. We need to divorce
- 36:43Speaker 3: in some way.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Oh, well, I think they regret it and they want
- 36:46Speaker 2: to get remarried and they can't do it anymore because
- 36:49Speaker 2: Chris doesn't want to get remarried.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Okay, so as we wrap here, Ashley, there's a lot
- 37:06Speaker 3: of more questions that we have, but we'll answer those
- 37:09Speaker 3: at a later date because it's always fun to hear
- 37:11Speaker 3: from you and hear what's going on in your mind
- 37:13Speaker 3: and what you're curious about. It's fun to then, maybe
- 37:16Speaker 3: the next time we can do this, Ashley, we can
- 37:18Speaker 3: start talking about family dynamics. I know there's a lot
- 37:20Speaker 3: of questions on here of what's your family planning look like?
- 37:25Speaker 3: What are you and Jared up to today?
- 37:26Speaker 2: I see that. I'm like, guys, please.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Also, questions about my family planning and what Jess and
- 37:31Speaker 3: I are up to today. I want to talk about
- 37:32Speaker 3: all that. It's fun to let you guys in, especially
- 37:36Speaker 3: because I'm not as good as Ashley on social media.
- 37:39Speaker 3: And so there's a little bit of dark area in
- 37:42Speaker 3: my life that you don't know about. And it would
- 37:44Speaker 3: be fun to sit down and talk about. In fact,
- 37:46Speaker 3: last night, Ashley, I got a self-promote. I Do In
- 37:50Speaker 3: Destination aired on television. It premiered. Ben, where was my text? Well,
- 37:57Speaker 3: I'm not going to ask my friends.
- 37:58Speaker 2: You need to tape it.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Well, come on. I'm not going to ask my friends to.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 38:03Speaker 3: You have a lot going on in your life.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I didn't watch the screener yet because I'm the worst.
- 38:06Speaker 3: It's on YouTube starting on the 6th, Ashley. So it's
- 38:10Speaker 3: easier to, you know, to find if you just go
- 38:13Speaker 3: to YouTube. Okay, that's tomorrow.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Okay, thank you.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Type in I do in destination. You'll get episode one.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 38:18Speaker 3: We're full in. So go watch it. Let me know
- 38:19Speaker 3: what you think. Okay, I'm excited. And I also got
- 38:23Speaker 3: to interview the first two couples here on the podcast.
- 38:27Speaker 3: So you can go back and listen to that if
- 38:28Speaker 3: you're interested in kind of their stories and what their
- 38:31Speaker 3: experiences were like on that show. So there's my point
- 38:34Speaker 3: to all this was there's a lot happening in our
- 38:36Speaker 3: lives that we don't talk about on Almost Famous because
- 38:39Speaker 3: it's not the place nor the platform, but question and
- 38:41Speaker 3: answers like this allow us to open up a bit
- 38:43Speaker 3: and it's fun to do that. So please write us
- 38:46Speaker 3: in with your questions. But in closing, Ashley, your final
- 38:51Speaker 3: thoughts on The Vow and this issue with Warner. You
- 38:57Speaker 3: and I both love Warner. We've said it five times.
- 38:59Speaker 2: I want to say it again. I love Warner. I
- 39:03Speaker 2: am in debt to them for what they've created with
- 39:06Speaker 2: my life. You know, I just have to say that professionally,
- 39:12Speaker 2: this feels like a move that only somebody. I don't
- 39:19Speaker 2: jealous or just unhappy about this. Something that could be,
- 39:27Speaker 2: which could be that this show could be a hit.
- 39:30Speaker 2: If this show is a hit and it has Chris
- 39:33Speaker 2: involved with it, I think it's just going to make
- 39:35Speaker 2: them regret their decision to part ways with Chris even more.
- 39:40Speaker 2: And I think that this is a regret that they
- 39:41Speaker 2: have often. I think that they had decreased interest viewers
- 39:47Speaker 2: after his departure I think that the majority of the
- 39:51Speaker 2: audience like whenever they see Chris on something or it's
- 39:55Speaker 2: like oh my gosh we miss you so much and
- 39:58Speaker 2: I just feel like they don't need a reminder of
- 40:01Speaker 2: what they decided to depart with.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Here is my final thought if the vow and I'm
- 40:09Speaker 3: not saying it can't if the vow can come in
- 40:12Speaker 3: in season one and take a that big of a
- 40:15Speaker 3: dent out of Bachelor viewership, then The Bachelor needs to
- 40:20Speaker 3: look internally at themselves more than they need to look
- 40:23Speaker 3: at The Vow. The Vow is on Fox Nation. It's
- 40:26Speaker 3: a streaming service. It is a brand new show. It
- 40:30Speaker 3: has a great host. It has some great promotion right now.
- 40:35Speaker 3: But if The Bachelor is threatened by a season one
- 40:41Speaker 3: show that has never been on TV before, then I
- 40:46Speaker 3: think they need to look internally and go, where did
- 40:47Speaker 3: we go wrong? What are we doing wrong? Who's pulling
- 40:50Speaker 3: the strings over here and making decisions? Because it's not
- 40:53Speaker 3: pushing us in a direction forward and upward for consistently
- 40:57Speaker 3: for the last few years. It feels like we're fumbling
- 40:59Speaker 3: around trying to figure out how to make sense of
- 41:01Speaker 3: this show and what it is. Why did that ever happen?
- 41:05Speaker 3: What went wrong? How can a show die so fast? That's,
- 41:10Speaker 3: I think, the question. Let's not pick on the new show.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Let's instead go, How do we get better with the
- 41:17Speaker 3: millions of dollars and millions of viewers that we have
- 41:19Speaker 3: built in and the franchise name and all the trademarking
- 41:22Speaker 3: that they have? How do we grow instead of how
- 41:25Speaker 3: do we protect?
- 41:27Speaker 2: And Ben, my question to you is, what do you
- 41:31Speaker 2: think about it being on Fox Nation? So Fox Nation,
- 41:34Speaker 2: Fox doesn't have its own. When it comes to the biggies,
- 41:39Speaker 2: we have, you know, ABC with Hulu. We have NBC
- 41:44Speaker 2: with Peacock. We have CBS and Paramount. Fox doesn't have
- 41:50Speaker 2: its own streaming service outside of what I've always thought
- 41:53Speaker 2: Fox Nation is more of Fox News's streaming network with
- 41:58Speaker 2: bonus political content and bonus historical content. There's stuff like that.
- 42:03Speaker 2: But they've never had. a dating show. This is 1000%
- 42:09Speaker 2: first of its kind for the streaming network. Do you
- 42:11Speaker 2: think this is Fox trying to be like, no Fox
- 42:14Speaker 2: nation is our streaming network or is this a Fox news?
- 42:20Speaker 3: It's a, I think it's a, I think it's Fox
- 42:23Speaker 3: nation is a low risk entry point for a new
- 42:28Speaker 3: idea and a new show that Fox has never done,
- 42:30Speaker 3: which is in the dating category. I I've said it
- 42:34Speaker 3: once and I'll say it again. I don't think it
- 42:36Speaker 3: exists on Fox nation next year. I think it goes
- 42:38Speaker 3: to cable. I think Fox says it goes to Fox.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I think it goes to Fox. Why not? Get the
- 42:44Speaker 3: money behind it in the production. Hey, Ash, we got
- 42:46Speaker 3: to wrap. We got a lot to talk about today.
- 42:48Speaker 3: A lot more to break down, continue to stay listening
- 42:53Speaker 3: to the almost famous podcast. As we move forward, we'll
- 42:55Speaker 3: be back with more question and answers. So please continue
- 42:58Speaker 3: to write us in or leave a message. We love
- 43:00Speaker 3: hearing from you. So until next time, I've been Ben.
- 43:03Speaker 2: I've been Ashley. See ya.
