- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast. And here's Nat with a hit
- 0:04Speaker 1: of celeb news.
- 0:05Speaker 2: So do you guys remember Gypsy Rose Blanchard? She's the
- 0:08Speaker 2: girl that killed her mum.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Why?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Because of the Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So her mum was faking that she was sick.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Basically, if you don't know, Gypsy Rose, a 35-year-old woman
- 0:18Speaker 3: who went to jail after murdering her own mother because
- 0:21Speaker 3: of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which is a mental illness
- 0:24Speaker 3: where a caregiver, normally a parent, exaggerates or induces illness
- 0:29Speaker 3: on you yep so like gypsy rose thought herself that
- 0:33Speaker 3: she had and also her mom convinced everyone around them
- 0:35Speaker 3: including some doctors that gypsy had leukemia muscle dystrophy muscular
- 0:40Speaker 3: dystrophy sorry asthma severe developmental delays like she was in
- 0:45Speaker 3: a wheelchair lost her hair had no teeth from the
- 0:48Speaker 3: medication like they thought they treated her as if she
- 0:50Speaker 3: was like had to be wrapped wrapped in bubble wrap
- 0:52Speaker 3: because she was so unwell and all of it was
- 0:54Speaker 3: fake So how were the doctors giving her all this
- 0:57Speaker 3: medication and stuff without fact-checking?
- 0:59Speaker 1: She fooled them, yeah. And then half the time they weren't.
- 1:03Speaker 1: There's a really good, I can't remember, was it Netflix
- 1:05Speaker 1: or Binge or one of them, there's a whole series.
- 1:07Speaker 2: There's a movie based on it and there's a series.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But there's a movie starring Joey King where she plays
- 1:12Speaker 3: Gypsy Rose. But basically I believe what happens, and the
- 1:16Speaker 3: reason they do it is because they.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Want control over their child.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Like they want to, you know, have them forever.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Never let her go.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Never let them go.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yeah. But I think what happens is there's some medication
- 1:25Speaker 3: that can induce symptoms of said thing. And then obviously
- 1:29Speaker 3: they're going to doctors that aren't doing their proper due
- 1:31Speaker 3: diligence and checking the things that the mother claims the
- 1:34Speaker 3: daughter has.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Symptom-wise, though, if you go to the doctor and claim
- 1:38Speaker 2: you've got X, Y, Z, you know.
- 1:40Speaker 1: They might believe it, yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, a good doctor shouldn't, but in this case it
- 1:44Speaker 2: obviously worked.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So back in 2015, her and her boyfriend at the
- 1:49Speaker 3: time conspired and she actually had him stab her mother. Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 3: And then she went to prison because she was caught.
- 1:56Speaker 3: She served seven of the ten years of her prison
- 1:58Speaker 3: sentence and then was released on parole in 2023. Okay. Now,
- 2:01Speaker 3: since then, she's been a bit of a celebrity because
- 2:04Speaker 3: of just the story itself and how remarkable it was.
- 2:08Speaker 3: And actually, while she was in prison, she got this
- 2:10Speaker 3: pen pal, a guy named Ken. They were writing back
- 2:13Speaker 3: and forth, and he actually proposed to her while she
- 2:14Speaker 3: was still in prison. When she was released, they even
- 2:17Speaker 3: had a child together.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Her name was Aurora.
- 2:20Speaker 3: And anyway, they've been on again, off again, split up
- 2:24Speaker 3: most recently a couple of months ago, and now he's
- 2:26Speaker 3: been found dead. So what's suspicious about this is there's
- 2:32Speaker 3: been text messages that have surfaced showing that Ken was
- 2:35Speaker 3: going to apply for sole custody of their daughter.
- 2:38Speaker 2: And now all of a sudden he's died.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Do we know how he died?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Drug overdose.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 2:44Speaker 3: It's just, yeah, the internet is obviously conspiring that Gypsy
- 2:49Speaker 3: may have done it again.
- 2:51Speaker 2: It could just be an awful coincidence.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 2: He was also found on his 34th birthday, which is crazy.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Could be a coincidence, right?
- 2:58Speaker 2: Could be a coincidence.
- 2:58Speaker 1: She didn't actually kill her mother, by the way, because
- 3:00Speaker 1: she got the boyfriend to do it.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but it shows she's a tricky little thing, isn't she?
- 3:06Speaker 2: So were they together when he died or?
- 3:08Speaker 3: No, so they had split up and he was applying
- 3:09Speaker 3: for sole custody of the daughter.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And now all of a sudden.
- 3:12Speaker 1: He's dead.
- 3:13Speaker 2: He's dead.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Wow.
- 3:14Speaker 2: He brown bread. Very interesting, but you should watch that documentary.
- 3:17Speaker 3: What's it called, the movie with Joey King?
- 3:20Speaker 4: Joey King.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I am going to go and do some deep stalking
- 3:24Speaker 2: on Gypsy Rose. It's a really interesting story.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yes, full on, yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 2: It's called The Act.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The Act. Okay, go and check it out.
- 3:31Speaker 3: All right, and Kelly Clarkson, she's been single for about
- 3:34Speaker 3: six years now. She was married to a guy named
- 3:37Speaker 3: Brandon Blackstock. They broke up in 2020. They had two
- 3:40Speaker 3: kids together, though, but unfortunately, he actually passed away last year.
- 3:43Speaker 3: after they'd separated because he had a private battle with cancer.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But since then, she's now spoken about why she is
- 3:50Speaker 3: taking her time when it comes to dating again, why
- 3:52Speaker 3: in six years she hasn't tried to find um, someone
- 3:55Speaker 3: else in her life.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Let's take a listen.
- 3:57Speaker 4: No, my, my, my kids right now, I think that would,
- 4:01Speaker 4: that would rock their boat a little bit.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And honestly, this is not a bullshit answer. I love
- 4:07Speaker 2: my life right now. Like it just got like to
- 4:09Speaker 2: where I am not exhausted at every point of it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You don't have the anchors.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Well, and I feel like if you're going to be
- 4:16Speaker 3: in a relationship, you have to be willing to give
- 4:19Speaker 3: some of your time up.
- 4:20Speaker 2: And I am unwilling.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I mean, you've said if you broke up with Ryan,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you wouldn't do anything, wouldn't get another guy.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I understand where she's coming from because when you do
- 4:30Speaker 4: have children in your life, like... And they're keeping you
- 4:34Speaker 4: busy and you've got a career. You probably are feeling
- 4:38Speaker 4: quite fulfilled.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And, I mean, I would still date.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I just don't know if I'd move in and get
- 4:44Speaker 4: married and relive with another man.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You'd just have a toy boy, wouldn't you?
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 2: But dating's the worst part.
- 4:50Speaker 4: No, I think dating with the right person is the
- 4:52Speaker 4: funnest part.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but it always turns. Does it?
- 4:56Speaker 3: As in, like, you can't just date without giving them
- 4:59Speaker 3: your time and without it complicating your life. There's no
- 5:02Speaker 3: person that can, like, last on a really chill relationship
- 5:05Speaker 3: where it's just like, oh, on my terms, when I
- 5:07Speaker 3: say I'm free.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I would say, listen, this is what I've got to offer.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Take it or leave it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: What have you got to offer?
- 5:12Speaker 2: Two dates a week. You can wine and dine me
- 5:14Speaker 2: and wild sex. I was going to say wine and
- 5:18Speaker 2: dine and something else. Yeah, and that's it.
