- 1:19Series 5, Show 29, How to Grow Through
- 1:21Every Season, Building a Life That Creates Lasting
- 1:26Results, How to Create an Environment Where Success
- 1:30Can Grow, Series 5, Show 29, Episode 4.
- 1:33That is today's granular topic.
- 1:36Welcome once again, everyone, to the ever-popular
- 1:40Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 1:44I am John C.
- 1:46Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 1:53podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 2:00Montclair State University, passionate lifelong learner, and so
- 2:05grateful now to be a published author.
- 2:08Welcome, everyone.
- 2:09Thank you so much for joining me for
- 2:10another episode of Inspirations for Your Life, where
- 2:16I help you discover practical principles that help
- 2:18us become stronger, wiser, and more intentional every
- 2:23day in our life.
- 2:24Success doesn't simply happen because we hope for
- 2:29it.
- 2:29It grows where it is intentionally cultivated.
- 2:34And I know that sounds like something that's
- 2:36crazy, but you know, guys, that's absolutely the
- 2:39truth, okay?
- 2:41That absolutely is the truth, and we need
- 2:43to really understand that.
- 2:46So the people we spend time with, the
- 2:51habits we develop, the information we consume, and
- 2:55the environments we create all influence the direction
- 3:00of our lives.
- 3:02Today, I'm exploring how designing the right environment
- 3:06allows success to take root, grow stronger, and
- 3:11produce lasting results.
- 3:14Number one, your environment influences success.
- 3:19The environment around you affects how you think,
- 3:24feel, and perform.
- 3:26Positive surroundings encourage positive habits.
- 3:31Success often begins with changing what's around you.
- 3:36Number two, remove unnecessary distractions.
- 3:41Distractions quietly steal your time and your precious
- 3:46attention.
- 3:47Eliminating what doesn't serve your goals creates more
- 3:51room for meaningful progress.
- 3:55Focus grows when distractions disappear.
- 3:59Number three, protect your focus.
- 4:02Focus is one of your greatest assets.
- 4:06Guard it carefully from interruptions that pull you
- 4:09away from your priorities.
- 4:12What you consistently focus on expands.
- 4:15Number four, build healthy routines.
- 4:19Healthy routines reduce decision fatigue and create consistency.
- 4:25Small daily habits eventually become automatic.
- 4:30Routine creates stability during busy seasons.
- 4:35I think that's another one I think a
- 4:36lot of people, like, they miss that.
- 4:38Number five is surround yourself with growth.
- 4:43Growth is a choice, guys.
- 4:44Absolutely is a choice.
- 4:46Spend time with people who challenge and encourage
- 4:51you to improve positive relationships because they inspire
- 4:57us to think better and have more growth
- 5:00in our life.
- 5:01And that becomes contagious.
- 5:03Number six, eliminate negativity.
- 5:06Just eliminate it.
- 5:07Get rid of it.
- 5:09Constant negativity drains energy and limits possibility.
- 5:15Replace negative influences with encouragement and solutions.
- 5:19See, your mindset becomes healthier when your environment
- 5:23does.
- 5:25Number seven, feed your mind wisely.
- 5:28What you read, watch, and listen to influences
- 5:32your thinking more than you know.
- 5:34Choose information that educates, inspires, and challenges you
- 5:39to improve your life.
- 5:41A healthy mind requires healthy input, right?
- 5:46Garbage in, garbage out.
- 5:47So, we want to make sure that we
- 5:48have the right quality of information, right?
- 5:52And that's something that a lot of people,
- 5:55like, they just, they don't really, they don't
- 5:57really, like, understand that.
- 6:00And I know you're probably saying, John, you
- 6:02know, how do I do that?
- 6:04And it's not hard.
- 6:08I think the thing a lot of people
- 6:10miss is that they have more power than
- 6:12they think.
- 6:13But they frustrate themselves because they're not where
- 6:16they want to be at the current moment
- 6:18in time.
- 6:19I think that's a, I think that's a
- 6:21very important thing.
- 6:23So, let's jump on to number eight.
- 6:25Number eight is choose positive influences.
- 6:28The people closest to you influence your habits,
- 6:33expectations, and beliefs.
- 6:35Choose relationships that encourage integrity, growth, and optimism.
- 6:42Positive influences strengthen your future.
- 6:44And let's remember that.
- 6:46The more positive we can be, the brighter
- 6:48our future is going to be.
- 6:49I think that's a, I think that's a
- 6:51real, a real special one to acknowledge and
- 6:54be part of.
- 6:55Number nine, build productive systems.
- 6:59Systems reduce stress by creating structure.
- 7:04Organized processes help you accomplish more with less
- 7:08effort.
- 7:09Great systems support lasting success.
- 7:12Number 10, your habits shape your outcomes.
- 7:18Daily habits determine long-term results.
- 7:22Positive routines consistently move you toward your goals.
- 7:27Your future is built through repeated actions.
- 7:32Repeat actions.
- 7:34Number 11, organization creates clarity.
- 7:38A well-organized environment reduces unnecessary stress.
- 7:44Clarity makes it easier to prioritize what truly
- 7:48matters.
- 7:49Organized spaces often produce organized thinking.
- 7:54And that's not just something people have made
- 7:56up.
- 7:57That's something that science can actually back.
- 8:00And science, in case you guys didn't know,
- 8:02science means to know.
- 8:04That's what science is all about.
- 8:06Science means to know.
- 8:09All right.
- 8:10Number 12, simplicity improves focus.
- 8:13Time for another water break here.
- 8:15Mm, really delicious.
- 8:21Complexity just creates confusion.
- 8:24Simplifying your environment helps you concentrate on what
- 8:28deserves your attention at the moment.
- 8:31Less clutter often leads to better decisions.
- 8:34Pretty simple.
- 8:36Number 13, learn how to protect your energy.
- 8:40Energy is one of your most valuable resources,
- 8:43and it's fluid.
- 8:44Spend it on people, projects, and activities that
- 8:48align with your purpose.
- 8:50Most importantly, spend it on yourself, right?
- 8:54Enjoy it with yourself.
- 8:55I think a lot of times people feel,
- 8:57well, I don't want to do this because
- 8:58if I do this, then, you know, I
- 9:01can't do something.
- 9:03No, it doesn't work like that, guys.
- 9:05It's you need to do stuff for yourself.
- 9:08That is just like a given.
- 9:10But a lot of people feel, oh, I
- 9:11don't want to do stuff for myself.
- 9:13But I'm here to tell you that you
- 9:14can do things for yourself.
- 9:16And the more that you do that, the
- 9:18more that you can make changes in your
- 9:22life, the more that you can make changes
- 9:25in your life.
- 9:25But it starts by you making the choice
- 9:29that you can do it, okay?
- 9:31That comes down to choices, comes down to
- 9:34choices.
- 9:37So protect your energy, all right, because it
- 9:41protects your future.
- 9:42Number 14, healthy boundaries matter.
- 9:45Boundaries allow you to protect your priorities without
- 9:50guilt.
- 9:51They create space for what matters to you
- 9:54most.
- 9:55Healthy boundaries build healthy lives.
- 9:59Number 15, your circle influences your future.
- 10:04The attitudes, habits, and expectations of the people
- 10:08around you often become your own.
- 10:12Choose relationships that encourage excellence.
- 10:18Integrity and continuous growth are key.
- 10:22Your environment is shaped by the company you
- 10:26keep.
- 10:27I think that's another important one.
- 10:29Number 16, create momentum daily, okay?
- 10:33Momentum is built through consistent action, not occasional
- 10:37bursts of motivation.
- 10:39Every positive step makes the next one just
- 10:44a little bit easier.
- 10:45Small victories eventually become significant milestones and achievements.
- 10:52Number 17, build a growth culture.
- 10:56I think that's one that a lot of
- 10:58people, I think they stumble on that, to
- 11:00say like, what does it mean to build
- 11:02a growth culture?
- 11:07Well, when you think about building a growth
- 11:09culture, we're thinking about how we're going to
- 11:13move forward, right?
- 11:14How are we going to move forward?
- 11:16And if we know how we're going to
- 11:17move forward, then I think life can be
- 11:22really good for us.
- 11:23But it does not happen overnight, guys.
- 11:26It does not happen overnight.
- 11:28And that's probably the biggest thing that drives
- 11:31most people crazy, is that it does not
- 11:33happen overnight.
- 11:35It takes time for it to actually happen,
- 11:38all right?
- 11:39So let's move on to the next point,
- 11:41all right?
- 11:41The next point, when we think about this,
- 11:44we build a growth culture, whether it's at
- 11:47home or at work or among friends, creating
- 11:51an environment where learning and improvement are encouraged.
- 11:57That's what it's about.
- 11:59Celebrate effort as much as achievement.
- 12:01Growth becomes stronger when it's shared with others.
- 12:06Number 18, consistency creates results.
- 12:10Success is rarely produced by one extraordinary day.
- 12:14It's built through ordinary days, repeated with extraordinary
- 12:20commitment.
- 12:22Consistency always outlasts intensity.
- 12:25That's the key.
- 12:27Number 19, choose progress daily, okay?
- 12:30Every day presents a choice between staying comfortable
- 12:35or becoming better.
- 12:39Even small improvements move you closer to your
- 12:43goals.
- 12:45Progress compounds over time.
- 12:47That's no surprise, just like interest in your
- 12:50bank account.
- 12:50Support your goals.
- 12:52Make your environment work for you instead of
- 12:56against you, all right?
- 12:58You can set your environment up the way
- 12:59you want.
- 13:00Keep reminders of your goals where you'll see
- 13:03them often.
- 13:04I think that's another one, I think, that
- 13:05trips up a lot of people.
- 13:07They don't realize that they can actually do
- 13:09this, but I'm here to tell you that
- 13:10you can do this, okay?
- 13:13It just might take you, it may take
- 13:15you some time, all right?
- 13:17It might take you some time, and hopefully
- 13:19that time will be something that really means
- 13:23something to you, that's going to be like
- 13:24a very, very big thing for you.
- 13:27But I want to tell you that it's
- 13:29not something that you're just going to suddenly
- 13:32just get overnight.
- 13:33You're just not going to get it overnight,
- 13:36okay?
- 13:36It's just not going to happen overnight.
- 13:38So, let's get out of our head that
- 13:41it's going to happen overnight because it's not.
- 13:43It's going to take you some time to
- 13:45realize how it works, okay?
- 13:50Surround yourself with things that reinforce the future,
- 13:56the one you're creating.
- 13:58Number 21, build intentional routines.
- 14:01Intentional routines remove unnecessary decisions and increase productivity.
- 14:08When positive actions become automatic, success becomes more
- 14:13attainable, sustainable.
- 14:16Structure creates freedom.
- 14:18Remember I said consistency and structure are the
- 14:21keys to success in life.
- 14:22I've said this so many times.
- 14:26We need consistency.
- 14:27We need structure, okay?
- 14:28We need to have that.
- 14:30If we don't have that, then for whatever
- 14:32reason, we're going to be like, oh my
- 14:34gosh, how do I handle this?
- 14:36How do I deal with this?
- 14:38And I think that's a very important thing
- 14:41to really understand is that it's about that
- 14:44concept.
- 14:45It's about what we can do and how
- 14:47we can expand our life, all right?
- 14:50So, let's move on to number 22.
- 14:51Number 22 says success leaves clues.
- 14:54Learn from people who have already achieved what
- 14:58you hope to accomplish.
- 15:00Study their habits, mindset, and discipline.
- 15:04Don't copy them, but learn from what they
- 15:06do.
- 15:07Success often leaves a blueprint for others to
- 15:11follow.
- 15:12But you may want to tailor it a
- 15:13little bit to make a little more your
- 15:14own style, but see what they're doing.
- 15:16Number 23, focus on solutions.
- 15:19Problems deserve attention, okay?
- 15:21But solutions deserve your energy.
- 15:28Problems deserve attention, but solutions deserve your energy.
- 15:32A solution-focused mindset creates confidence and forward
- 15:37movement.
- 15:38Every challenge becomes easier when you ask, what's
- 15:43my next step, right?
- 15:47Number 24, minimize distractions.
- 15:50Every distraction steals valuable time and attention from
- 15:55your purpose.
- 15:57And I think that's something that a lot
- 15:58of people, again, I think they get confused
- 16:01on that because they don't realize that your
- 16:05energy is what's causing this to work or
- 16:07not work.
- 16:08And I think that's a thing we all
- 16:09need to learn.
- 16:10We need to eliminate what constantly interrupts our
- 16:15progress.
- 16:16Protect our focus as that's one of your
- 16:21greatest resources, guys.
- 16:22We have to know how to protect our
- 16:24focus.
- 16:24If we don't protect our focus, who else
- 16:26will, right?
- 16:30I think these are very viable things that
- 16:33we need to understand in life.
- 16:36But they're also the building blocks.
- 16:40Number 25, encourage others.
- 16:43Helping someone else succeed doesn't reduce your own
- 16:48success.
- 16:50Encouragement creates stronger relationships and a healthier environment
- 16:57for everyone.
- 16:59Positive influence always multiplies.
- 17:03So when something's positive, people want to be
- 17:07part of it, okay?
- 17:11People want to be part of it like,
- 17:12oh my gosh, I get this, I understand
- 17:13this, right?
- 17:15I think that's the real kicker, right?
- 17:19That's the real kicker, right?
- 17:22That's what it's about, guys.
- 17:25Number 26, build positive momentum every day.
- 17:30One positive decision naturally leads to another one.
- 17:36Momentum grows every time you choose discipline over
- 17:39excuses.
- 17:41Keep moving forward even when the steps seem
- 17:43small.
- 17:46Number 27, celebrate progress.
- 17:48I know so many people that are like,
- 17:49well, you know, I don't want to celebrate
- 17:50that because it doesn't mean anything to me
- 17:52yet.
- 17:53Well, that's kind of crazy because every step
- 17:57means something.
- 17:58Every step in your life means something, all
- 18:01right?
- 18:03I think that's something that a lot of
- 18:05people don't understand.
- 18:08But we need to understand it, okay?
- 18:13We need to understand like what that means
- 18:16and why that means that, okay?
- 18:19But I can tell you that it's important,
- 18:23very, very, very important, all right?
- 18:28Number 27, when we talk about celebrating progress,
- 18:31don't wait until the finish line to recognize
- 18:33your growth and your accomplishment.
- 18:35That little step you took was enough.
- 18:39Celebrate milestones along the journey because they remind
- 18:43you how far you've already come.
- 18:46Now, I can tell you when I started
- 18:47writing my book a little while ago, I
- 18:50can tell you that, you know, I was
- 18:51like, oh, my gosh, the book's not written.
- 18:52I'm like, well, wait a minute.
- 18:53Why don't I just celebrate that I already
- 18:54got a page down or I've got two
- 18:56pages or I've got three and celebrate that
- 18:59and see that momentum actually pushes it.
- 19:01You know what?
- 19:02This is actually going somewhere and I'm really
- 19:04enjoying this, all right?
- 19:06I'm really enjoying how this is going, all
- 19:11right?
- 19:11That's an important piece that many people, they
- 19:15just don't understand it.
- 19:17But that's what hinders them from basically moving
- 19:21forward.
- 19:22Gratitude fuels motivation.
- 19:24Let's remember that, okay?
- 19:25Number 28, keep improving your environment all the
- 19:29time.
- 19:30Your environment should grow as you grow, all
- 19:34right?
- 19:35Continue removing obstacles, strengthen routines, and create spaces
- 19:40that inspire your best thinking self.
- 19:43Improvement is an ongoing process, so don't think
- 19:47that you're finished once you started, okay?
- 19:50You need to keep making changes so that
- 19:54you can be better, okay?
- 19:59I think that's one that a lot of
- 20:00people get lost on.
- 20:06And the reason I say that to you
- 20:09is that that whole concept dictates whether you're
- 20:15going to be a success or not.
- 20:17See, your mind, your image is actually what
- 20:20does it.
- 20:25Your mind is what does it.
- 20:30And your mind creates the, okay, this is
- 20:32working the way I want or this is
- 20:34not working the way I want.
- 20:39That's important, guys, really, really important.
- 20:43Number 29, growth requires space.
- 20:47Now, a lot of people I talk to
- 20:50about this, they're like, well, I can't do
- 20:53this.
- 20:54Because they don't give people the space they
- 20:56need to grow.
- 20:57What do they do, guys?
- 20:59They micromanage them.
- 21:02And that's just terrible when people get micromanaged.
- 21:06It's like, it really demeans somebody.
- 21:11It's like, hey, you hired me, but yet
- 21:13you don't think I'm good enough to do
- 21:15what you want.
- 21:17So we'll just micromanage you, right?
- 21:23That's the problem, guys.
- 21:25You can't micromanage.
- 21:28People have feelings.
- 21:30They have emotions.
- 21:31And if they're doing a good job, first
- 21:36of all, you should never belittle them.
- 21:37You should always try to pick them up
- 21:39by giving them encouragement, like, hey, you know,
- 21:42you do a great job stacking the boxes.
- 21:45And we just got to tweak maybe how
- 21:50you open them or something like that, right,
- 21:52whatever it is.
- 21:54Always start with something positive so people feel
- 21:57good about themselves.
- 22:00Personal growth requires time to think, learn, reflect,
- 22:06and even recharge.
- 22:07A constantly busy life leaves little room for
- 22:10meaningful development.
- 22:12Make space for what truly matters.
- 22:17And God will say to me, oh, John,
- 22:19I don't have time to do that.
- 22:21OK, you don't have time to do that,
- 22:23but yet you have time to complain about
- 22:26your life.
- 22:28That's like an oxymoron, right?
- 22:37Why?
- 22:45I think a lot of people don't realize
- 22:47it.
- 22:47They're not aware of it.
- 22:51And they're not aware of it because they
- 22:58don't really care.
- 23:03Not saying they don't want to grow, but
- 23:06they miss the little things.
- 23:09And what I've learned in life is that
- 23:11when you miss the little things, you're going
- 23:14to miss the big things.
- 23:16So you've got to pay attention to not
- 23:18only the entire forest, but the trees, the
- 23:21animals, right, the birds, the water, the other
- 23:27people in the forest.
- 23:28You've got to pay attention to that.
- 23:30Number 30, success grows where it's nurtured.
- 23:34Success doesn't appear by accident.
- 23:37It grows where positive habits, intentional choices, meaningful
- 23:45relationships, and consistent effort are cultivated every day.
- 23:52The environment you create today shapes the life
- 23:58you'll live tomorrow.
- 24:01But why don't people pay attention to it?
- 24:04Maybe they feel, well, I could just change
- 24:05it later.
- 24:06See, once you get stuck in a rut,
- 24:08it's hard to change that, guys.
- 24:11It's so hard to change that.
- 24:14I'm not saying you can't, but it would
- 24:17be much easier to do it from the
- 24:19beginning, right?
- 24:24As I wrap up today and close this
- 24:26show out and conclude, I want you to
- 24:31remember something.
- 24:33Success is rarely determined by one big moment.
- 24:37Many people think it is.
- 24:39These grand gestures, they're nice, but that's not
- 24:44what determines success.
- 24:45It's not the one big moment.
- 24:47It's all the things you've done, the little
- 24:50things along the way that add up to
- 24:54success.
- 24:55It's influenced by the environment you intentionally build
- 25:02every single day.
- 25:04The people you spend time with, the habits
- 25:09you practice, the information you consume, and the
- 25:15routines you follow are quietly shaping your future,
- 25:21whether you realize it or not, guys.
- 25:25And I know that's hard for a lot
- 25:27of people to fathom and to be like,
- 25:30wait a minute, I never knew this was
- 25:33this important.
- 25:35I never realized how important this was.
- 25:39It's very, very important, guys.
- 25:44It's that important.
- 25:48Because when you become aware of your life,
- 25:52you can see what's working and what's not
- 25:55working.
- 25:56And don't take what's not working as something
- 26:00to beat yourself up with.
- 26:01Use it as data, okay?
- 26:05Figure out what you can change, what you
- 26:07can tweak.
- 26:08Take a few moments today or tomorrow to
- 26:13evaluate just your surroundings.
- 26:17And then I want you to ask yourself
- 26:20if your environment is helping you become the
- 26:24person you want to be or is it
- 26:26holding you back from reaching your full potential?
- 26:32That's not an easy thing to think about,
- 26:33I know.
- 26:35But we gotta be honest with ourselves and
- 26:38figure out what tweaks we can make.
- 26:42We have to be humble and we have
- 26:43to be willing to grow.
- 26:45You see, ladies and gentlemen, small adjustments made
- 26:49consistently can produce extraordinary changes over time.
- 27:02It's a gradual effect.
- 27:05It's a compounding effect.
- 27:09You can make this difference, guys.
- 27:11But the key is you've gotta start becoming
- 27:15aware.
- 27:22You gotta start becoming aware.
- 27:29Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you very much
- 27:38for joining me tonight for another episode of
