Transcript
- 0:02Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 207, as our Super Bowl 58 coverage continues.
- 0:08Dayna Roselli: It's Dana Roselli along with Sean McAllister, and we just wrapped up the red carpet at the NFL Honors, which took place at Resorts World.
- 0:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, so we are recording here at Resorts World right now.
- 0:23Sean McAllister: And man, uh the we'll get into it in just a minute, but the NFL Honors red carpet was like insane.
- 0:34Dayna Roselli: Insane.
- 0:35Dayna Roselli: I've never seen a more packed red carpet.
- 0:37Dayna Roselli: But like you said, yeah, we'll get to that in a minute.
- 0:39Dayna Roselli: We wanted to start off with kind of some breaking news that happened today, and when we say today, it's Thursday.
- 0:44Dayna Roselli: Uh Tiesto, who was supposed to be the in-game DJ for Super Bowl Sunday, has put out a tweet and said that he has to bow out now because of a family emergency.
- 0:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, he said there was uh an emergency.
- 0:59Sean McAllister: He didn't mention who in his family was having the emergency, but that he had to uh get back home and be with his family, which meant that he could not uh be the house DJ at the Super Bowl, which uh, you know, he said that in coordination with the NFL, he had some really cool things planned that he was really excited about.
- 1:23Sean McAllister: Um, but that's not going to be able to happen now.
- 1:25Sean McAllister: And he's super bummed about it, but said hopefully at some point in the future um we'll be able to see what what he was working on with the NFL.
- 1:33Sean McAllister: However, we did just learn that Cascade, another long time Las Vegas DJ, and really a big DJ um around the world, Cascade is stepping in to be the house DJ now over inside Allegiant Stadium.
- 1:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so I'm glad that they'll keep that going.
- 1:48Dayna Roselli: There's so many DJs and excellent ones that I'm glad that they moved on to another and gave someone else an opportunity.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: Hey, uh, speaking of celebrities and people who are really good at what they do, Bobby Flay is an excellent chef.
- 2:02Dayna Roselli: He has many, many restaurants and a bunch of them in Las Vegas.
- 2:05Dayna Roselli: He just opened a new one called Brassery B over at Caesars Palace.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: We do a segment on KCal, which runs in Los Angeles.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: We do it every other Thursday morning live where we talk about Vegas.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: And we usually work the morning anchor there, uh, unless she's off or on assignment, um, is Jamie Yucis.
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: And she's amazing.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: We have loved working with her.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: However, we've actually never met her in person.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: She's in town for Super Bowl, and she wanted to do, you know, something with us that would be like a little Vegas insider.
- 2:35Dayna Roselli: So we sat there, we thought, we stewed, we're like, what could we do?
- 2:39Sean McAllister: So we knew that uh Bobby Flay just opened up uh his new restaurant, Brasserie B, inside Caesar's Palace, and we've been wanting to check that out.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: So we said, Hey Jamie, come and meet us at Brasserie B.
- 2:52Sean McAllister: We'll grab a cocktail, we'll catch up, we'll finally meet face to face and not look at each other on little TV monitors.
- 3:01Sean McAllister: Um and we had a great time, but we had a surprise for Jamie.
- 3:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we had to make it spicy, right?
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: We thought, what can we do to make it just, you know, like a little bit elevated, you know, something that she'll never forget.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: So we got Bobby Flay there, which was amazing.
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: He's in town for Super Bowl.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: Um we asked Caesars, hey, you think Bobby could surprise Jamie?
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: So that all worked out.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: Loved it.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: She was even saying her mom's a huge Bobby Flay fan.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: So she was so excited to meet him and chat with him.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: He's doing a big tailgate on Sunday, too, for Super Bowl Sunday.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: But um, we loved you and I stayed a little bit later and we had just a little appetizer.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: And let me tell you, the homemade chips with blue cheese dip.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: And the tuna tartare was like bursting with flavor.
- 3:46Dayna Roselli: It was delicious.
- 3:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, there was some kind of I mean, it didn't surprise me that something that Bobby Flay does was bursting with flavor because he just puts flavor into everything.
- 3:57Sean McAllister: But um the tuna tartare had kind of a um a smoky flavor to it, and then there was fresh horseradish and um like chopped up uh hard-boiled egg around the outside with capers, and it just everything together was so good.
- 4:19Sean McAllister: Excellent.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: It was really excellent.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: I love the look of the restaurant too.
- 4:23Dayna Roselli: It's very New York.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: Uh the restaurant is French.
- 4:26Dayna Roselli: But anyway, Bobby was really excited to have this open.
- 4:29Dayna Roselli: It's right next to his other restaurant, so you could literally go from Italy to France in two seconds.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: Uh, you have your choice there.
- 4:38Dayna Roselli: And we had um, what was the drink that you had?
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: Because he said that one was his favorite, the New York Sour.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: The New York Sour, which was delicious.
- 4:46Sean McAllister: It's a bourbon drink um with some sour mix put in there and uh bourgeolet uh wine on top.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: So it's like a layered drink, and man, that was good.
- 4:59Sean McAllister: I am not a huge fan of super sweet drinks or even um like even margaritas sometimes.
- 5:07Sean McAllister: Like it's just it just gets really acid-y for me, the mix that they use.
- 5:11Sean McAllister: This was nothing like that.
- 5:12Sean McAllister: Whatever whatever combination of ingredients they use, like it it didn't give me heartburn.
- 5:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's good.
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: And I had the French uh the French martini.
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: French martini.
- 5:24Dayna Roselli: French, it was a number after it.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: French 77.
- 5:29Dayna Roselli: It was lemon and it was delicious because I told them I didn't want something really sweet.
- 5:34Dayna Roselli: But they gave me this lemon, like you said.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: It was a lemon martini called the French something.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: Oh, you're we're gonna look it up now.
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna keep talking.
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: Okay, Sean's looking up the name.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: All these things are important, right?
- 5:46Dayna Roselli: Um, but listen, it was great.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: Jamie had such a blast meeting Bobby.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: It was a French 75, not a 77.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: Okay, French 75.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: Wish I should know that.
- 5:55Dayna Roselli: I was born in 75.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: Oh, look at that.
- 5:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was great.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: Um, and we went to the CBS set this morning.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: Um, that was fun to be with Jamie, actually live and in person on KCal.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: We did two hits with her, and uh the set is over near the Bellagio, and you could see just like a row of different sets.
- 6:13Dayna Roselli: Um, CBS This Morning was over there.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: I know Deborah Norville's over there doing Inside Edition and a lot of other shows.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: So a great time.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: We have kept very, very busy and uh been nonstop.
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: So the NFL honors.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: Okay, this red carpet that we just finished up was I've never seen anything like it.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: First of all, I must say, listen, NFL players, I feel like, are the best dressers just in general when it comes to uh celebrities.
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: I know they're athletes, but celebrity athletes, I was impressed.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: What their suits are tailored, they do a lot of color.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 6:51Sean McAllister: Well, and I loved that a lot of a lot of players were showing up representing their team colors.
- 6:58Sean McAllister: You know, there's Minnesota Viking who showed up in a a purple suit.
- 7:02Sean McAllister: There was uh a player from Cincinnati who had like the orange lining of his uh jacket that was custom made.
- 7:11Dayna Roselli: And I mean there were And his wife was in an orange dress.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: She was pregnant.
- 7:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 7:16Dayna Roselli: And his hat said Cincy in orange.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that was cool.
- 7:19Sean McAllister: So, you know, there was a lot of uh representation of team colors in a very uh fashionable way.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: Well, and it helped us too, because you know, with athletes it is hard.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: You know names, they've got helmets on, we don't see their faces all the time.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: So, you know, trying to figure out who was who, and then you hear the name and you go, oh, okay, but you know what?
- 7:37Dayna Roselli: Okay, well, we know he plays for the Vikings because he's wearing purple.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: So yeah, so we can match the name card to the player's uh wardrobe.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: Right.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: So that worked out.
- 7:49Sean McAllister: Um, but it was that this red carpet was packed.
- 7:52Sean McAllister: It was like a sea of people, it was like floodgates opened and a sea of people just rushed down the red carpet.
- 8:01Sean McAllister: So much so, in fact, the red carpet had to get fixed a couple times.
- 8:04Sean McAllister: There were like the carpet installers who had to come and keep adjusting the carpet because it was getting a little bunchy.
- 8:13Sean McAllister: I know.
- 8:14Sean McAllister: But they they were on top of it though.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they were, and that was a beautiful red carpet.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: You know, it was it was really long, and then they had an outside part um where it started, and everyone was separated.
- 8:25Dayna Roselli: Oh, so it's crazy how much media there are there are at everything that we're doing.
- 8:30Dayna Roselli: There are so many media members in town.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: I think I was talking to Steve Hill from the LVC VA, and he told me six thousand media were planning to come in and applied for press passes for game day, and they were only able to even give out one thousand.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, people are here from all over.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: We were on the red carpet next to a a station from Mexico, and we were listening to them do the reports, and it was great.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: I loved it.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: Just everyone is represented here.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: It's so cool.
- 8:59Sean McAllister: Well, and even uh, you know, the NFL is obviously trying to boost its international appeal with games each season, whether exhibition or regular season being played overseas, whether it's in England or Mexico.
- 9:13Sean McAllister: Um, you know, there was they were just announced more international games uh just this week.
- 9:19Sean McAllister: So that is a major uh effort that the NFL is making to make football, American football, more of a a global uh sport.
- 9:29Sean McAllister: And as a matter of fact, a lot of the events that the NFL has put on uh this week here in Las Vegas um have uh tied in elements of the Lunar New Year because there are so many uh Las Vegas visitors who celebrate uh Lunar New Year from uh Asian countries who come here and you know make Las Vegas uh uh it's one of their favorite destinations.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: So they're here, and the NFL is doing a lot of outreach to bring some Asian fans into the mix too, and familiarize you know, people from different countries with the game.
- 10:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and familiarize.
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: I think that was one of the words that somebody we were talking to exactly used.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: We're trying to get them to know the game a little better so that they take it on, enjoy it, embrace it, and then start to become fans.
- 10:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, so it's not like uh what is this thing that is happening in front of me?
- 10:21unknown: Right.
- 10:21Dayna Roselli: And then I think they announced, and did you say this?
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: Because I was reading something, um, that what Philadelphia is gonna play in Brazil this year, I think.
- 10:27Dayna Roselli: Now they're going to Brazil.
- 10:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, so that's uh that's an international game um that was just announced.
- 10:34Sean McAllister: It's exciting that they're going to Brazil.
- 10:35Sean McAllister: I believe it's the first time playing in Brazil.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: I would think so, yeah.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: So yeah, you're right.
- 10:39Dayna Roselli: It's really expanding.
- 10:40Dayna Roselli: It's just become such an international thing.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: We've we've learned a lot, and it's been fun talking to some of those media members.
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: While we were on the red carpet, we talked to a lot of players about you know how they're feeling about Sunday's matchup.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: I'm looking for a great defensive game, and I was uh teammates with Christian McCaffrey in college, so I hope he has a great one too.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: And so are you looking who are you looking for a win?
- 10:59Dayna Roselli: Or do you not gonna pick size?
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: Patrick Mahomes ended my season like three years in a row when I was with the Bills, so I'll probably maybe hope the Niners get one.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: I think those are the two best teams, obviously, that made it to the final in the league.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Um we got a matchup of two pretty unique styles and and programs that have been good since the onset of the league.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: So we got a classic matchup in the Super Bowl, and hopefully it'll be a great game.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: Um I'm pulling for the 49ers.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: I have a couple buddies on that team, so I gotta pull for them, but uh but no, it's gonna be a great game.
- 11:28Sean McAllister: That was Harrison Phillips from the Minnesota Vikings, Ted Karras from the Bengals, and Bradley Bozeman from the Carolina Panthers with their thoughts on Sunday's matchup.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: Um listen, we had someone write us on Instagram, and you know, we take every comment serious um saying that we have not covered the 49ers enough.
- 11:46Dayna Roselli: And listen, Sean mentioned last podcast, here's the deal.
- 11:49Dayna Roselli: They have had uh their press conferences, they had uh opening night, but everything is leading off with Kansas City.
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: And we're packed, or we've got to get out of a parking garage before the crowd, and it's like so we're like, we've got to head out a little earlier, we're somewhere for five hours, and we're like, oh my gosh, we'd have to wait another two hours for San Fran to come out.
- 12:08Dayna Roselli: They keep like putting them second.
- 12:09Sean McAllister: Well, and and here's the thing like our major uh goal and purpose in our Super Bowl coverage is to cover what Las Vegas and the Super Bowl are are doing.
- 12:22Sean McAllister: We're not necessarily like we're not sports reporters, so we're not there, you know, talking talking game with the players.
- 12:31Sean McAllister: Obviously, Travis Kelsey is a topic of conversation because of Taylor Swift.
- 12:35Sean McAllister: We get it, that's pop culture, so it is what it is.
- 12:39Sean McAllister: Um the 49ers aren't dating Taylor Swift.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: So they're they're not getting that same kind of coverage.
- 12:47Sean McAllister: However, we do realize that here in Las Vegas there is a massive 49ers fan base, which we mentioned uh when we were talking about Super Bowl opening night.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: That Allegiance Stadium was overwhelmingly representing the 49ers over Kansas City.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there were cheers and boos, right?
- 13:09Dayna Roselli: Boos when Kansas City came out, and um, I'm sure Kansas City's gonna show up here as we get closer to the weekend.
- 13:15Dayna Roselli: So let's give the 49ers some airtime.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: Brock Purdy, the quarterback, has been at all the press conferences we notice this week.
- 13:23Dayna Roselli: So, you know, a lot of people talking to him about I mean, listen, he went up the ranks and he went up the ranks quick.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: People kept getting hurt, and then all of a sudden he's starting quarterback and he's going to a Super Bowl.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: And, you know, it's funny because I was doing a little research on him, and uh, it's interesting how they called him Mr.
- 13:40Dayna Roselli: Irrelevant because he was, you know, a draft a draft pick, but like what third third string, would you call it?
- 13:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, he was actually the very last pick in the last round of the draft the year that he was brought into the NFL.
- 13:55Sean McAllister: And actually, I heard one reporter asking him the other day if he can name any of the players who were drafted before him.
- 14:02Sean McAllister: So that gives you an idea of where he ranked at the time and how far he's come.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's like the first Mr.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: Irrelevant quarterback to start in a Super Bowl.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: So good for him.
- 14:12Dayna Roselli: Here's some sound from Brock this week.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, for me, I I feel like I have to continue to prove that, you know, to myself, to my teammates.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously, we did that last two games in the playoffs, which is is obviously not easy, but um for me, you know, I still feel like I have a lot to prove.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: And so um obviously we'll see you know how my career goes and everything, and and then at the end of the day we'll be able to make a judgment on that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: But for me, um it's a Super Bowl.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: I want to do uh as best as I can for this team and this organization to you know to win at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: And so, but down the road we'll we'll find out.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, this is that's that's the sport, man.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: That's the nature of it.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Um you're in the NFL, everybody's gonna be watching you, you're in a you're in a spotlight.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Um people are gonna, you know, obviously want to see you success, have success, and some people are gonna want to see your downfall.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Like that's just the nature of it.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: And so um honestly, it makes it entertaining, it makes it sort of fun.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Um, do I get wrapped up in it?
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: No, but obviously, you know, you hear things every so often, and and uh I think at the end of the day, after all this is said and done, it'll be something sort of fun for everybody to look back at.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: All right, best of luck to Brock Purdy and the 49ers.
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: I must say, Brock is easy on the eyes.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: That's my perspective.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: I never knew that until I saw him on opening night.
- 15:30Dayna Roselli: I was like, oh, hmm, kind of cute.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: Um he's young, with 23, I think.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: So I mean they're all young, right?
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: We saw Tommy DeVito, the quarterback for the Giants on the red carpet today at the NFL Honors, and he like stopped out of pressure because someone wouldn't let him out to do a quick soundbite with one of the stations.
- 15:50Dayna Roselli: But I'm talking there were how many how much media do you think was there?
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: Like hundreds of cameras.
- 15:56Dayna Roselli: Well, there had to be about a hundred.
- 15:59Dayna Roselli: At least.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: There were at least a hundred cameras.
- 16:02Dayna Roselli: Well, Tommy DeVito did not stop, so he rubbed me the wrong way.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: I like his name.
- 16:07Dayna Roselli: My dad loves the Giants, but that's okay.
- 16:09Dayna Roselli: We interviewed the other Giants quarterback anyway.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: Couple things we got going on.
- 16:14Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna try and make it to Shaq's fun house over at XS at Wynn on Friday night.
- 16:20Dayna Roselli: Want to remind everyone the NFL experience is still going on.
- 16:25Dayna Roselli: Young children are free.
- 16:27Dayna Roselli: Take the kids.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: It's open Friday and Saturday, and not on game day.
- 16:32Sean McAllister: And I'm headed over to I'm gonna be going to that uh Paramount experience that has been built out in front of the Mirage.
- 16:41Sean McAllister: Um, you know, that features a whole bunch of shows under the CBS Paramount umbrella.
- 16:48Sean McAllister: Um that looks fun.
- 16:50Sean McAllister: And also heading to see uh Kelly Clarkson, which will be good.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: As we mentioned, she's in town performing over at Planet Hollywood for the weekend.
- 17:00Sean McAllister: Um and we're also hearing there could be a surprise performance inside Blake Shelton's Old Red honky tonk this weekend as well.
- 17:11Sean McAllister: We'll follow up on that when we chat with you next.
- 17:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because he didn't show up to the opening, which wasn't, you know, people thought he might, but it was kind of more of a soft opening.
- 17:19Dayna Roselli: But I mean it's Super Bowl weekend, he's throwing a big party at Old Red.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: I have a feeling Blake will show up.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: So um actually I'm gonna go 99% in that he's showing up.
- 17:29Sean McAllister: 99.
- 17:30Sean McAllister: That's pretty, pretty definite.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: It is pretty definite.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: Um, but that listen, we love that we've gotten some great feedback from some of these Super Bowl podcasts that people have enjoyed kind of hearing every other day of what's going on here in Las Vegas.
- 17:43Dayna Roselli: We've really enjoyed being part of the week, the lead up to the big game.
- 17:48Dayna Roselli: You know, we'll leave it to the the sports people to handle the game part of it on Super Bowl Sunday.
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: We're looking forward to seeing Usher.
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: He had a press conference today with Post Malone and with Reba, who they're all gonna be doing performances during the Super Bowl, and I think it'll all be fabulous, but we'll we'll keep our eye on it.
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: You know, it's always interesting watching, even you know, the national anthem.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:11Sean McAllister: Uh thanks for coming along with us all week as uh the countdown to Super Bowl 58 has ticked on, and now there's just one thing left to do get the tailgate ready and watch some football.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: Eat up, everyone.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: Thanks for joining us.
