  Speaker 2: But you know, my family just went through the fire. Really,

  Speaker 2: you know, we just went through a major attack by
• 5:05
  Speaker 2: the enemy. You know, I want to be transparent. I

  Speaker 2: don't pull any punches. Yes, sometimes we get it in
• 5:13
  Speaker 2: our marriage and sometimes it comes to our children. Well,
• 5:17
  Speaker 2: you know, one of our our daughters, she was going
• 5:23
  Speaker 2: through a test and going through the fire for the
• 5:29
  Speaker 2: last couple of months of last year. And so what
• 5:34
  Speaker 2: I did was I created a comic strip based on
• 5:41
  Speaker 2: the experience. Now you know, I've changed the names and
• 5:44
  Speaker 2: changed all the circumstances and everything. You wouldn't really know,
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: you know what I mean, exactly who everyone was. But
• 5:52
  Speaker 2: there was you know, one of the families involved, they
• 5:56
  Speaker 2: you know, they got offended, and I want to apollo
• 5:59
  Speaker 2: up apologize. There was nothing intended at all to offend

  Speaker 2: any other families on this platform. You know, if you

  Speaker 2: know my heart, my heart is to minister and my

  Speaker 2: heart is to share real life experiences, and if you

  Speaker 2: especially if you may be experiencing a situation similar to ours.

  Speaker 2: get to the scripture. We are in Acts. Chapter nine
• 8:28
  Speaker 2: is where we left off, and we are in verse
• 8:31
  Speaker 2: thirty six. The Book of Acts is amazing. The Book
• 8:35
  Speaker 2: of Acts is where we see the acts of the
• 8:38
  Speaker 2: Holy Spirit, where men like Stefan and men like Philip
• 8:46
  Speaker 2: did great exploits in the name of the Lord because
• 8:49
  Speaker 2: they were filled, directed and guided by the Holy Spirit.

  Speaker 2: And this book inspires me and has changed me, and
• 9:00
  Speaker 2: it's given me the desire to see the same power
• 9:03
  Speaker 2: working in and through my life, and working in and
• 9:06
  Speaker 2: through my church and through my fellowship and the believers
• 9:11
  Speaker 2: around me. As I'm reading this book, I completely put
• 9:14
  Speaker 2: my faith. I believe one hundred percent that this same
• 9:18
  Speaker 2: power can be manifested in our own lives. Amen. And
• 9:23
  Speaker 2: so in verse thirty six, I'm coming at you from
• 9:26
  Speaker 2: the new King, James. And this is where well we
• 9:31
  Speaker 2: saw Stephan was martyred. He was he gave his life
• 9:36
  Speaker 2: for his faith, his testimony. And then Philip was taken
• 9:41
  Speaker 2: away by the Holy Spirit after he ministered to an
• 9:45
  Speaker 2: Ethiopian and baptized him. And there's great revival going on
• 9:51
  Speaker 2: in the desert, going on in the city of Samaria,
• 9:54
  Speaker 2: as just a whole bunch of explosions popping up everywhere
• 10:01
  Speaker 2: by the Holy Spirit. And so now the focus is
• 10:05
  Speaker 2: back on Peter. Which Jesus said to Peter that the
• 10:11
  Speaker 2: keys of the kingdom would be handed to him. And
• 10:14
  Speaker 2: as we know, Peter was the first of the disciples
• 10:19
  Speaker 2: to open up the keys to the gentiles. And let's
• 10:24
  Speaker 2: take a look and see the great work that Peter
• 10:29
  Speaker 2: did in the name of the Lord. In verse thirty six,
• 10:33
  Speaker 2: so to Djappa, there was a certain disciple named Tabitha,
• 10:39
  Speaker 2: which is translated darkest. Now this woman was full of
• 10:45
  Speaker 2: good works and charitable, charitable deeds, which she did. Amen.
• 10:52
  Speaker 2: Let's get my tongue working this morning. Amen. Okay, so
• 10:57
  Speaker 2: let's break that down. Now. Narcas is remembered not for
• 11:07
  Speaker 2: preaching sermons, but she is remembered for the love that
• 11:13
  Speaker 2: she demonstrated to the body of Christ. Now, her life
• 11:20
  Speaker 2: showed that practical service is a powerful witness of Christ.
• 11:26
  Speaker 2: Just practical service, even some of the smallest things that
• 11:29
  Speaker 2: we do for the Lord can be huge. Amen. Now,
• 11:34
  Speaker 2: I notice the Bible calls her a disciple. She wasn't
• 11:40
  Speaker 2: an apostle, nor was she a preacher. Yet Heaven recorded
• 11:45
  Speaker 2: her name. She was recorded in heaven. She was recorded
• 11:50
  Speaker 2: in the Word of God for us to read about
• 11:52
  Speaker 2: it today. And we got to ask ourselves why why
• 11:56
  Speaker 2: was she recorded? Why is she a part of the story. Well,
• 12:00
  Speaker 2: because she was full of good works. Amen, hallelujah. Do
• 12:09
  Speaker 2: not take it lightly. If you give somebody a cup
• 12:13
  Speaker 2: of water, or somebody a sandwich, or someone a blanket
• 12:17
  Speaker 2: or a towel or a shirt or clothing, that is
• 12:21
  Speaker 2: something that is going to impact someone more than anyone else.
• 12:26
  Speaker 2: Love is an action word. Now, and said that she
• 12:30
  Speaker 2: was full of good works, not occasional good works. She
• 12:35
  Speaker 2: didn't do good works when it was convenient to do
• 12:38
  Speaker 2: good works. She was full of good works. This tells
• 12:42
  Speaker 2: us that ministry isn't only done behind the microphone, right
• 12:48
  Speaker 2: behind the DJ booth or behind the podcast Mike, you
• 12:52
  Speaker 2: know what I mean. It's not always always done behind.
• 12:56
  Speaker 2: This is done through compassion. And if you know anything
• 13:00
  Speaker 2: about us about his Hoigh Nation, we're always pouring into

  Speaker 2: the community. We do back to school events, we do
• 13:09
  Speaker 2: events during Christmas. We pass out toys and gifts during
• 13:14
  Speaker 2: that time. We've been in places where we have passed

  Speaker 2: out food and clothing. We're always trying to as an organization,

  Speaker 2: to make a difference in our community. Right now, I

  Speaker 2: an impact die abruptly? I believe that the enemy goes

  Speaker 2: after the leaders. He doesn't really try to go for
• 16:10
  Speaker 2: the small the small fries, right, which I mean he
• 16:15
  Speaker 2: wants to destroy everyone, But he goes for the person
• 16:20
  Speaker 2: who can make the largest impact. Right. He goes for Okay,
• 16:26
  Speaker 2: who can If I take this person down, I can
• 16:28
  Speaker 2: take a thousand people with him. And so that's why
• 16:32
  Speaker 2: it's really important. I had to repent the other day
• 16:34
  Speaker 2: because I have not been consistently praying for my pastors
• 16:38
  Speaker 2: and my leaders like I should be, because they have
• 16:42
  Speaker 2: such a dangerous position. Think about it. As a pastor
• 16:47
  Speaker 2: or a leader, you are the target. The enemy is
• 16:50
  Speaker 2: targeting you right, the target is on your back, and
• 16:56
  Speaker 2: not only that, you are held to a higher standard
• 16:59
  Speaker 2: before God. If you don't preach and teach the word
• 17:03
  Speaker 2: and say what God has said the way God said it,
• 17:07
  Speaker 2: blood could be on your hands. If people end up
• 17:10
  Speaker 2: going to hell because you did not teach them the truth,
• 17:14
  Speaker 2: you can be accountable for that. So it's not something
• 17:19
  Speaker 2: just to jump up there just because you want to
• 17:22
  Speaker 2: be a leader. You don't want to work, and you
• 17:23
  Speaker 2: want people to give you money. You think it's a
• 17:26
  Speaker 2: career change. I would not play with it. You have
• 17:29
  Speaker 2: to be called, and even being called, it's still a
• 17:34
  Speaker 2: difficult occupation. So yeah, if you're not called to do it,
• 17:39
  Speaker 2: you'd be crazy to step in that place. And I
• 17:44
  Speaker 2: believe that I do have a calling, and trust me,
• 17:46
  Speaker 2: I've had a taste of it running the club, and yeah,
• 17:51
  Speaker 2: it's not fun. It's no joke out there. You got
• 17:53
  Speaker 2: to be ready, trained up, and prepared to do this work. Amen.
• 17:58
  Speaker 2: And so I believe this is probably why she ends
• 18:00
  Speaker 2: up dying like this after making a huge impact, because
• 18:05
  Speaker 2: look at how many people she affected. Her death brought
• 18:10
  Speaker 2: grief to the Believing community because Darkest had become so
• 18:17
  Speaker 2: valuable to them. Her absence was deeply felt. Now, when
• 18:22
  Speaker 2: someone who lives for others dies, the whole community feels it.
• 18:28
  Speaker 2: This first verse reminds us that how we live now
• 18:33
  Speaker 2: determines how we are remembered later. Amen, examine ourselves. You know,
• 18:39
  Speaker 2: have you been living for yourself or have you been
• 18:42
  Speaker 2: trying to make your community a little better? Have you
• 18:46
  Speaker 2: been trying to make a difference? Have you been living
• 18:49
  Speaker 2: for others? A Bible tells us to consider others above ourselves.
• 18:54
  Speaker 2: We are to consider God first and others, and then
• 19:00
  Speaker 2: God promises to take care of our stuff. Right Amen.
• 19:05
  Speaker 2: Verse thirty eight. And since Leida was near Joppa and
• 19:10
  Speaker 2: the Disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent
• 19:14
  Speaker 2: two men to him, imploring him not to delay in
• 19:18
  Speaker 2: coming to them. Now, I think this is amazing. Now
• 19:24
  Speaker 2: faith moved the disciples to action. They believed God could
• 19:29
  Speaker 2: intervene even though she had passed away. You know, death
• 19:33
  Speaker 2: to us seems so permanent. But do we have the
• 19:37
  Speaker 2: faith to call someone back from the dead. This is
• 19:44
  Speaker 2: how much faith these believers had in the first century.
• 19:49
  Speaker 2: Now they sent for Peter. Now, faith, it doesn't panic,
• 19:54
  Speaker 2: it pursues help. They didn't resign themselves till loss. At
• 20:01
  Speaker 2: this point they reached out for hope. Now the question
• 20:07
  Speaker 2: is who are you willing to call when things fall apart?
• 20:13
  Speaker 2: Who do you call on? Where do you go when
• 20:17
  Speaker 2: stress becomes overwhelming, when you find yourself in situations and circumstances,
• 20:24
  Speaker 2: where do you go to? Do you go to the bottle,
• 20:28
  Speaker 2: do you take that next hit, do you go to drugs,
• 20:32
  Speaker 2: you go to those relationships that you shouldn't be in,
• 20:38
  Speaker 2: or do you call on the name of the Lord
• 20:40
  Speaker 2: Hallelujah Verse thirty nine. Then Peter arose and went with them.

  Speaker 2: Now when he had come, he brought him. They brought
• 20:56
  Speaker 2: him to the upper room, and all the widows good
• 21:00
  Speaker 2: by him, weeping, showing the two nicks in garments which
• 21:04
  Speaker 2: Darkas had made while she was with them. Amen. Now
• 21:10
  Speaker 2: the garments were evidence of Darkas's love, and her works
• 21:16
  Speaker 2: spoke louder than any words could speak for her. So
• 21:21
  Speaker 2: they just showed them. They just showed them, like, look
• 21:23
  Speaker 2: what she did. You know her legacy wasn't money, it
• 21:26
  Speaker 2: was mercy. Now the widows didn't quote her sermons, right,
• 21:36
  Speaker 2: they showed her stitches. They showed him her garments. Now,
• 21:43
  Speaker 2: what evidence would people hold up from your life when
• 21:48
  Speaker 2: that time comes, Where are they gonna hold up? What
• 21:52
  Speaker 2: are they gonna say about us, about you? About me? Amen?

  Speaker 2: Verse four? Peter put them out and knelt down and prayed. Now,
• 22:06
  Speaker 2: this reminds me of when Jesus came into the young
• 22:11
  Speaker 2: girl when she was twelve years old and she had
• 22:14
  Speaker 2: passed away, and Jesus put the people out. I mean, like,
• 22:19
  Speaker 2: why would Peter do that when they're weeping and showing
• 22:22
  Speaker 2: their garments. And now Peter's like, okay, get out, I've
• 22:26
  Speaker 2: seen enough, right, But he did it so that he
• 22:30
  Speaker 2: could pray, because these people loved her dearly and he
• 22:35
  Speaker 2: needed to get a hold of God. And turning to
• 22:40
  Speaker 2: the body, he said, Tabitha, arise and she opened her eyes,
• 22:45
  Speaker 2: and when she saw Peter she sat up. Now, Peter
• 22:52
  Speaker 2: followed the example of Jesus seeking the Father in prayer
• 22:57
  Speaker 2: before action and power, and that is a great pattern
• 23:03
  Speaker 2: that we need to follow. There's a lot of decisions
• 23:07
  Speaker 2: that need to be made. There's a lot of decisions
• 23:09
  Speaker 2: that need to be made in my family, in my
• 23:13
  Speaker 2: personal life, financial life, ministry, our organization. I need to
• 23:20
  Speaker 2: turn to the Father first before I take action. And
• 23:27
  Speaker 2: I need to be more consistent in that, to be honest. Like,
• 23:29
  Speaker 2: this is a great example. Now, power it flows from prayer.
• 23:36
  Speaker 2: Power does not flow from our performance. Prayer gives us
• 23:42
  Speaker 2: power to perform. Peter didn't hype the room. He didn't
• 23:48
  Speaker 2: try to get people worked up. No, he humbled himself. Right,
• 23:55
  Speaker 2: Resurrection power responds to submission. He didn't tell them to
• 24:02
  Speaker 2: start praising God and start hooping and hollering. No, he
• 24:05
  Speaker 2: put them out, and he kneeled down before the Father,
• 24:15
  Speaker 2: verse forty one. Then he gave her his hand and
• 24:20
  Speaker 2: lifted her up. And when he had called the saints
• 24:25
