- 2:52let me say I always encourage people to listen to the show obviously, it's
- 2:55kind of my job, and always remind people that if you can't hear it
- 2:59live, go back, can listen to it on demand either on the website,

- 3:07here, or my personal which is Dave Allen Radio on Facebook, or the
- 3:10Dave Allen Show on x Yesterday's show between candidate for Secretary of State Doug scaff
- 3:16and Republican strategist Rob Cornelius was one for the ages. Mister Cornelius stated yesterday
- 3:23that goubernatorial candidate more Capito had yet to say he would vote for Donald Trump.
- 3:29Well, the people for the more Capito camp were listening and we're not
- 3:34happy. I talked to them after the show and told them I would gladly
- 3:37read a statement proclaiming mister Capitol's position until we can get him on the show,
- 3:44which we were able to work out later the day. More Capito,
- 3:46Republican candidate for governor, will be on the show tomorrow to speak for himself.
- 3:52But until that time and the interest of fairness, this is the statement
- 3:55that will send to me from the more Capitol campaign. Headline is more Capitol
- 3:59camp paint statement. Dave alland WCCHS Radio, dated Tuesday, April thirtieth.
- 4:03On your radio show yesterday, you had a paid operative supporting Patrick Morrissey for
- 4:09Governor who tried to deceive your listeners. Here's the truth. More Capitol endorsed
- 4:13President Trump. Back in September twenty twenty three. More Capito restated his support
- 4:17for President Trump during the forum Morrisy's operative cited saying, quote, I think
- 4:21it's critically important Donald Trump wins in November. I support President Trump. I've
- 4:27endorsed him, and we've made that perfectly clear and quote not only the statement
- 4:31goes on to Raad's more Capital endorsed President Trump. He's the only Republican candidate
- 4:35running for governor who is reaching out and courting the very voters President Trump invited
- 4:41into the Republican Party back in twenty sixteen. His efforts have earned him support
- 4:46of mind workers, steel workers, and construction workers across the state. More
- 4:49Capital looks forward to voting for President Trump and ask all voters who are part
- 4:54of President Trump's coalition to join his campaign. With President Trump back in the
- 4:57White House, Governor Jim Justice as part of a great team in the West
- 5:00Senate, and more Capito as governor, West Virginia will become an economic powerhouse.
- 5:03Signed Kent Gates. More Capito for Governor spokesperson. So that is the
- 5:09statement that was released yesterday following the appearance and the comments made by Rob Cornelius
- 5:14on yesterday's show. More Capito again will be on the show to speak for
- 5:17himself tomorrow. Morning. Offered him this morning, but kind of short notice
- 5:21when you're running a campaign for governor, so he couldn't come on this morning,
- 5:25but he is going to come on the show tomorrow. He'll be the
- 5:27first guest top of the show. He'll be in studio with me tomorrow.

- 6:06want to spend a little extra time this morning talking to the people of fresh
- 6:10Air. John Lovejoy is what the company fresh Airity joins us now. John,
- 6:14Good morning, Welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave. How
- 6:16are you? I'm fine. Now, You're not going to provide as many
- 6:18fireworks as we had on yesterday's show, right, I'm going to try to
- 6:23keep it a little bit more reserve. A little bit boring might be good.
- 6:28Not that you're boring, Not that you're boring. I want to start
- 6:30off by making sure that everyone understands fresh Air is a filter company right for
- 6:38HVAC units, but not an HVAC company. You don't do systems, you
- 6:42only do filters. That's exactly right. We are, actually, I like
- 6:45to refer to as kind of like the icing on the cake, the cake
- 6:48being the HVAC company that comes out and installs the units and maintains those and
- 6:55then we come out and we simply change the filters in those units to help
- 7:00provide better air quality inside either the business or the residents. So answer the
- 7:06question, why do I need someone to change the filters? I mean,
- 7:10look, John, I am the least handy guy in the world around my
- 7:13house. Ask my wife. She'll tell you that. But I can change
- 7:16a filter. Why do I need the service to do it for me?
- 7:18Well, I'll tell you there are really some big advantages to join this.
- 7:23First of all, our filters are custom made, so we come in on
- 7:29our first visit and we measure your unit and build a metal frame that is
- 7:35a much tighter fit in the unit. It's also heavier. That means when
- 7:40the unit kicks on and off, there's less movement in the filter. When
- 7:44there's less movement, less is getting around the filter and into your unit.
- 7:47So it helps protect your unit. It's going to allow it to work more
- 7:51efficiently, saving you up to fifteen percent on energy consumption. And then the
- 7:58filter itself that's in there is actually a better quality filter than what you're going
- 8:03to buy at the local box stores. So as a result of that,
- 8:05you get a better air quality inside. And the fitting of it is crucial.
- 8:11It is because all units are and I believe it or not, I
- 8:15don't do a lot of handyman type stuff. But I did at one point
- 8:18work in the heating and cooling industry in one hundred years ago when I was
- 8:22in college. The fitting and getting them in there properly is very important.
- 8:26And all the units are installed differently because basically all houses in all places of
- 8:35business or whatever, all buildings are built differently, so they're not all going
- 8:37to be the same exactly. And you know, there's some of those that
- 8:41are really unusual sizes that are hard to find. There's some that are in
- 8:46awkward places, you know, cross spaces, addicts, rooftops. It doesn't
- 8:52matter where it's located or what size it is, because it is a custom
- 8:58made frame on site that first visit. Then you know we're going to get
- 9:03that good secure fit for the unit. And how do you calculate how much?
- 9:07Because you threw out a figure there about how much. I mean that's
- 9:09just an average, of course, but I mean, how does one go
- 9:13about calculating how much energy savings and how much how much you want to save
- 9:16on your utility bill? Well, I mean you're actually going to end up
- 9:20seeing the results of that on your energy bill. You know, once that
- 9:24unit performs at its peak and that's that's our goal is to allow that unit
- 9:28to work the way it was created to work. And so you will you
- 9:35will see the results of that because your unit's not having to work harder.
- 9:41Yeah, and it's it's also really crucial to make sure that these are changed
- 9:46on a regular basis. Really you shouldn't go any more than ninety days,
- 9:52because once you pass that ninety day mark, then the unit's having to work
- 9:56harder, and that's going to take away, you know, take away that
- 10:00energy savings. Talking to John Lovejoy again for fresh air now we're talking.
- 10:05The service is available for residential locations, of course our homes, but also
- 10:09for commercial you can do restaurants, you can do churches, you can do
- 10:13any kind of but an again, anywhere where there's a structure, you can
- 10:16do it right. Absolutely, medical facilities, you know, we like being
- 10:22able to provide a medical grade filter to our clients. Do you have if
- 10:26you're a business or even as a residence. I guess question that I'll ask
- 10:31is can you get set up on like some sort of a contract where where
- 10:33you're they're automatically going to come out. I don't have to think about it
- 10:37if I've got my business. I don't have to worry about this. You
- 10:41automatically come out. Ever, would you say, like ninety days or something
- 10:43and do this automatically? We do. There are some different factors that play
- 10:48into whether it's a ninety day or you know, more frequently. But yes,
- 10:52when you sign up for the service, you know, being that it's
- 10:56a metal frame, the filter is a little bit different, and so we
- 11:00come out on this regular scheduled basis to change that filter for you. So
- 11:05you no longer have to remember when it's time to change the filter, and
- 11:09you no longer have to worry about losing that air quality inside. Just show
- 11:13it automatically. Absolutely, you can concentrate on your business at that point.
- 11:16Exactly important. There's far more important things from a business standpoint, and filters
- 11:24are one of those out of sight, out of mind, you know,
- 11:26people don't think about it. We'll think about it till you get your bill
- 11:28exactly look at it and go, okay, what what can I do here?
- 11:31Exactly exactly, So yeah, the service ends up basically paying for itself.
- 11:39But Dave Alan swing five any line bright to you by Morgan to Morgan.
- 11:41If you're injured higher Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
- 11:45Talking with John Lovejoy of fresh Air. Give me some success stories. I
- 11:48mean, I'm sure that you've had plenty out there. Oh, we have
- 11:52the well. I got a customer that reached out to me recently that was
- 11:56just raving about. It was his first visit and he lives in the East
- 12:03end of Charleston in the Historic District and is actually really particular about who he
- 12:09allows in his home. And he said, the workmanship that was done by
- 12:16our technician, he says, I really felt bad that it's behind a door
- 12:20and not being able to be seen. He said it was so nice and
- 12:24such a good fit. And you know, he could already tell a difference
- 12:31in his home. That's good, you know, within the first couple of
- 12:33days. That's what you're going to get when you deal with fresh Air.
- 12:35Where can people learn more about your company, the product services, Well,
- 12:39they can go to our website it's fresh Air Filters dot us, or if
- 12:45they want to give me a call, my office numbers three zero four four

- 12:56talk about the products because I can talk about it all day, but nobody
- 12:58can sell your like you can. And it's not like you've got a great
- 13:01product there. So we urge everybody, whether it's residential again, it's church,
- 13:05it's a restaurant, medical, established, whatever, get get in touch

- 13:35we don't pat ourselves on the back, but we'll let other people do it
- 13:37for us. The WCCHS won the News Talk Station of the Year, and
- 13:41our news team, Carrie and Chris and the whole team won a bunch of

- 17:26Cappado will be on the show tomorrow as well. You've heard No Doubt in
- 17:32the news and other place is about the need of healthcare workers and there are
- 17:36a variety of reasons for that fewer people, fewer people going into the field
- 17:40to start with, and quite frankly, we have an aging population in this
- 17:42country nowhere is more true in West Virginia than that. So there is a
- 17:48demand for healthcare workers and particularly nurses. Ken Wilson is a dean of nursing
- 17:52at Bridge Valley and he joins us. Now, Kim, good morning,
- 17:56welcome to the show. Good morning. Before we get into the pro I'm
- 18:00going to learn something about you. You've never been on the show before.
- 18:03Where are you from, your background? And how the world had gin up
- 18:06a Bridge Valley. I became a nurse in nineteen ninety one and it was
- 18:11after the fact that my mom was diagnosed with cancer and while she was hospitals,
- 18:17there was a nurse there and her name was one to call, and
- 18:19she was such an inspiration to me for the care that she gave my mom
- 18:22that I thought, man, I like everything about her. I like what
- 18:26the nursing profession says. So I went to school at the University of Charleston,
- 18:32got an associate degree, later went on to WU and got my bachelor's
- 18:36and then subsequently did the state thing and went to Marshall and got my master's
- 18:40degree. So I've actually been a nurse since nineteen ninety one in higher education
- 18:45for more than twenty years. And I've been a nurses i said, for
- 18:48more than thirty years. So what some of the highlights of being a nurse
- 18:52for you? I mean, what is it that I mean you talked about
- 18:53why you got into it, but once you were actually there, what were
- 18:56some of the things that you personally gathered from the nursing profession. You know,
- 19:00I love the nursing profession. I love the fact that you can care
- 19:03for people and you see them at their weakest moments and you're able to help
- 19:07them, you know, get to a better state, or in some cases
- 19:11when people are at the end of life cycle, you're there with them at
- 19:14that time, you know, to demonstrate compassion and caring for not any of
- 19:18the patient, but their family as well. So it's a very rewarding career
- 19:22in that aspect. Talking again with Ken Wilson, who's the nursing in a
- 19:26Bridge Valley, I want to talk about the school of nursing a Bridge Valley
- 19:30as a whole. Many people may not even realize Bridge Valley has a nursing
- 19:33program, but it's very very successful. Just talk about it as a whole.
- 19:36Okay, So a little bit about the history of the nursing program.
- 19:41It first started on the campus of West Virginia State University way back in two
- 19:45thousand and seven. Subsequently, the legislatures got the legislature got involved and separated
- 19:51four year schools and two year schools, and that's when the school became Canall
- 19:56Valley Community and Technical College. And then just two years after that, the
- 20:00legislature got involved again and saw a need that you know, the Montgomery campus
- 20:06and the South Charleston campus, both those schools need to be merged, and
- 20:10that's how we end up being Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. So the
- 20:14nursing program started way back in two thousand and seven, it's not really that
- 20:18old, but since then we've actually graduated thirty six cohorts in eighteen hundred total
- 20:23graduates. So it's very important and when people are thinking about nursing school,
- 20:26obviously it's a rewarding career. And I want to talk a little bit about
- 20:30later on about how many jobs are currently projected to be moving forward. But
- 20:36people need to pay particularly attention to certain things when you're looking for a nursing
- 20:40school. One of those things is you want to make sure that the school
- 20:42is accredited, because if it is not accredited, then people can't continue on
- 20:47and get a bachelor's degree, master's degree, et cetera. I also want
- 20:51to make sure that you look at the program and make sure it's a quality
- 20:53program. Accreditation helps does that. So you know, Bridge Valley has been
- 20:56fully accredited since two thousand and seven by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing
- 21:03and the West Virginia are in board. And part of that quality says,
- 21:07you know, are they graduating students that are passing their boards on the first
- 21:11time. So Bridge Valley has been fortunate that we graduate, you know,
- 21:17a tremendous workforce, that students are very knowledgeable, and we've been above the
- 21:21national average for first time incleex pass rates since twenty fifteen. Part of the
- 21:26reason it makes Bridge values programs such as success is the fact that we have
- 21:30qualified faculty. We have like sixteen faculty members that have like over four hundred
- 21:36years of professional nursing experience in two hundred years combined of undergraduate nursing education.
- 21:44In that we're also fortunate that we have technology and simulation and resources that will
- 21:48probably get to it a little bit. But the other thing that makes us
- 21:52so good is the fact that we have good partners in our area. You
- 21:53know, we're lucky that we have to the state's largest healthcare systems in w
- 22:00Edison and Charleston Area Medical Center. That helps us when we're preparing students for
- 22:03the workforce, that we have those two clinical entities right whore in our backyard.
- 22:08The other thing about Bridge Valley is the fact that going to nursing school
- 22:11there it costs about fifteen thousand dollars, which is pretty economical, especially when
- 22:15people can essentially go to nursing school free these days because there are so many
- 22:21scholarships and grants and things that are out there. West Virginia invests and you
- 22:25know, Bridge Valley about a year ago signed an agreement with w Medicine called
- 22:30Aspiring Nurse Program where they pay students five thousand dollars a semester and another five
- 22:34thousand dollars upon on completion. So es since twenty five thousand dollars just to
- 22:38go to nursing school, which is a tremendous assset for people to be able
- 22:41to go pretty free it is. Again we're talking to Kent Wilson, who's
- 22:45deemed of nursing the Bridge Valley. And you know, one of the things
- 22:48I like about Bridge Valley is and I talked with doctor Sacks about this a
- 22:51lot when she's on the show too, is that we hear these stories about
- 22:56people going away. And I'm not hating on major universities manus strategy imagination,
- 23:00but you hear these stories about people going away and then not being able to
- 23:03find jobs with Bridge Valley, whether it's nursing or any of the other programs
- 23:07that they offer there. It seems like the employers are tripping all over themselves
- 23:10to say, we want these people, we want them you. I mean,
- 23:12you graduate from the nursing program, and there are some variables in that
- 23:15you graduate from the nursing program or any of these programs from Bridge Valley,
- 23:19you're pretty much going to have your choice of jobs at that point. Is
- 23:22that right? That's true? I mean, which is amazing because again,
- 23:26you hear these stories about people that have this degree in something and they're like,
- 23:30oh, what the heck am I going to do with it? Not
- 23:32an issue especially in the nursing field right now, talk about and I mentioned
- 23:34this in the in the intro, talk about the need as a whole for
- 23:38healthcare workers. You know, America is getting older, the baby boomers are
- 23:45are booming, if you will, and in West Virginia we have the oldest
- 23:48population in the nation. Talk about the need for qualified folks in the nursing
- 23:56program. Yeah, I still work. When the whole COVID thing happened,
- 24:00I thought, Man, I have Arian behind my name who used to work
- 24:03at CAMC, So I thought, I reached out to the folks at CAMC
- 24:07and I went back working in special part time when the COVID thinks started because
- 24:11there was just such a need for people at the bedside because so many people
- 24:15were taken out due to COVID. But it surprises me even to this day
- 24:18how many healthcare workers across all the disciplines are so short. Pharmacists, social
- 24:25workers, physicians. I mean, if you've ever recently tried to get an
- 24:29appointment with a physicians, it takes a lot of time, a lot of
- 24:33time, a lot of time, and a lot of searching. And are
- 24:36you taking new patients are you not? I mean, it's it can be
- 24:38difficult, it's very difficult, but as far as the nursing profession, back
- 24:42in twenty and twenty two, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing did
- 24:47some research and in their research they found, as a result of the COVID
- 24:51epidemic, that there was one hundred thousand restaurant nurses and thirty four thousand LPNs
- 24:56that I actually left the workforce, so that's pretty recent. They surveyed all
- 25:02the restaurant nurses in the US and they found that there's another eight hundred thousand
- 25:07nurses and are registered nurses and one hundred and thirty four thousand LPs that planned
- 25:11to leave the workforce by twenty twenty seven. That's almost a million nurses.
- 25:17And that research they also found why is it let me jump in here,
- 25:19why are they leaving? Is it really I mean some of us probably retirement
- 25:22in things of that nature, which is understandable, But what are some of
- 25:25the reasons why they're leaving? You know? Sixty four percent of those people
- 25:29that were surveyed said that it's due to I can increase workload, salaries,
- 25:33but stress, it's very stress. Imagine job, yeah, I can imagine.
- 25:40So we're trying, you know, to get people involved in these programs.
- 25:44And one of the great things about nursing too, you know you talked
- 25:47about it, you didn't, I mean from when I gathered from your story,
- 25:49you know, you didn't go directly into nursing. I got a high
- 25:52school or anything. Nursing is a profession that you can go into at pretty
- 25:56much any age if you wanted a career change or whatever. Yeah, I
- 26:00was actually thirty and in that research and National Council did at the average age
- 26:03of our restauran nurses forty six. So yeah, and also in that research
- 26:10that found that there's only like twenty four percent of the workforce as I show
- 26:12younger folks. So that's a big challenge moving forward. Just know that there's
- 26:17already a shortage. There's a prospective you know, need for nurses that exceeds
- 26:22like over a million, and then we're going to add another million on top
- 26:25of that. So you know, it's concerning. It is, indeed.
- 26:27And one of the things too that I think is really cool that's been going
- 26:32on for several years in the public school system is that they have many of
- 26:37the high schools around the south of West Virginia and other areas have medical programs
- 26:41where students can start in high school and start their training in high school.
- 26:47Because nursing is one of those professions I've always said that you have a calling
- 26:51to do. There are several that are teaching is another one, maybe emergency
- 26:53services is another one, police, fire or whatever. You got to really
- 26:57want to do it. And most people that are nurses that my sister's and
- 27:00nurse, most people that I know knew from an early age. But that's
- 27:04what they wanted to do. So why not get them in those programs early
- 27:07maybe in some cases when they're still in the high school. Yeah, that
- 27:11brings us to WIE. I mean, Bridge Valley has several opportunities, and
- 27:15one of them is the Win Academy, which I'm pretty sure that doctor Sichs
- 27:19has probably talked about on the air. But we had What the Wind Academy
- 27:23does is it allows high school students to complete their high school graduation requirements but
- 27:29also complete some of the general education requirements that's needed for the nursing program,
- 27:33but en role as a senior even either in the fall semester or the spring
- 27:38semester in the first year of nursing courses. And we actually had two students
- 27:44that started doing that this past January. They're extremely bright. We're proud of
- 27:48them when I actually got Student of the Month for April out of all Bridge
- 27:51and Valley's students. And then this coming file we have a total of nine
- 27:56students that are doing that new win academy. So some people think that,
- 28:00you know, high school students might not have the mentality or be able to
- 28:06handle the stress of going to nursing school and subsequently later on being in the
- 28:10clinical setting. What I have found now after these students is that they're very
- 28:15well prepared and what it is up doing is getting people in the workforce a
- 28:18year earlier than they would have been. So it is a good opportunity.
- 28:22Talking with Cant Wilson, I have a question here for you with the tax
- 28:25line. Somebody says, does Bridge Valley have any programs to hel LPNs transition
- 28:30to rin We most certainly do we have currently. When the program was started
- 28:36way back in two thousand and five, we added an LPN to rin Bridge,
- 28:40and we also added the first in the state of West Virginia paramedic to
- 28:44arian Bridge. But when most recently, when the government expanded nursing programs and
- 28:52gave legislative money to nursing programs to expand. We added a votech to RIN
- 28:56option. This is people that go to a vocational school such as an LP
- 29:00school. We don't want to take their boards, but I want to continue
- 29:03to go straight into undergraduate nursing education and become a rest of nurse that can
- 29:07transition right into the nursing program. So we have two options for LPNs.
- 29:12One is the option that for LPNs that have been in practice for more than
- 29:17two years and that places them in the later semester of the second year of
- 29:22the nursing program, or the votech option that they can just merge into with
- 29:26second semester nursing students. All right, well, good stuff here, and
- 29:30I got to let you go, but we'll have you back on again at
- 29:33another time to talk about this because this is definitely a need to get nurses
- 29:37all trained up and ready to go in into the workforce. Kent Wilson be
- 29:41in the Nursing to Bridge Valley. I appreciate you being here, man,
- 29:42Thanks, thank you so much for having me. Where can people learn more?
- 29:45I talk about the website every day, but go ahead, Yeah,
- 29:48most certainly we have nursing program information sessions at Bridge Value, which are welcome
- 29:52for people to come. I'd love for people to come and see our new
- 29:55nursing wing, the Booker t Washington Nursing Wing that's a simulated hospital, and
- 30:00you know, just contact me, contact anybody at the school and we'll be
- 30:03happy to do a tour and talk about the nursing program and auset's opportunities that
- 30:07we have at Bridge Valley. Bridge Valley dot needus the website. I appreciate

- 34:09Democratic Party Chair Michael Ari Pushkin, Good morning, sir. Hey, what's
- 34:15your middle name? Alan? We've talked about this, that's right, I
- 34:17thought, well, you know, I think a lot of your listeners might
- 34:21think that's your last name. Nobody in radio uses the real name, you
- 34:23know that, like Ryan or producer Ryan Nicholson. Yes, Irving Schneider is
- 34:30his real name? Really, I just made that up. I couldn't.
- 34:31I couldn't think of anything else, but not right, Ryan, As far
- 34:35as I know, Ryan is his real name. So as far as we
- 34:37know, as far as we know, right, Ryan's kind of sketchy at
- 34:42times. He may have maybe wanted in another state for some but I don't
- 34:45know. So, man, how are you, man? I'm doing great,
- 34:50of course, you know we're There have been talks of a special session
- 34:52in May, and now we're starting to hear different dates, which is troubling.
- 34:59I hope that the governor and the legislature, my friends on the other
- 35:01side of the aisle, can get it together soon for the sake of a
- 35:04lot of people who are going through a lot of uncertainty right now, especially
- 35:08those who are in the IDD waiver program. We need to get it together,
- 35:13a legislature and the governor's office and get in there during the interims and
- 35:16fix this mess that was created at the end of the session. Now,
- 35:20why would there be different dates? What do you referring to there? I
- 35:22mean what I saw some correspondence with some of my colleagues talking about possibly June.
- 35:30Of course, we don't have interims scheduled in June, so that would
- 35:31be all on the taxpayer's dime. So I'm hoping that we can get it
- 35:35together in a one day session in May, and that means to have just
- 35:38address the budget issues now. Also, one thing that you know, we
- 35:43would like to see is you know, we think it's going to happen,
- 35:47No, but we need to talk about it is putting on the ballot constitutional
- 35:52amendment to protect women's reproductive freedom. We would like to see that like other
- 35:57states have done. But also what we really need to address as some of
- 36:00these holes in the budget that were created at the last on the last night
- 36:04of the session. But now you and you kind of said this, I
- 36:07mean you you don't, I know what you'd want, but you don't actually
- 36:10think it's going to be put on the on a ballot of discuss in the
- 36:14special session. Right as far as the abortion thing, the constitutional amendment to
- 36:20allow you know, women's right to choose and a reproductive freedom, do I
- 36:23think a Republican governor, Republican supermajority or are willing to let the people vote
- 36:29on that. They they've shown no interest in that. I'd say, what
- 36:31are they afraid of are they afraid of that that the people, like just
- 36:36like every other state that's been able to vote on it, the people are
- 36:37going to choose freedom. I mean a great number of people think that.
- 36:42Regardless of whether you consider yourself a pro life, pro choice or whatever,
- 36:45there are great number of people that think that the West Virginia law went too
- 36:49far. Even even some of those on the pro life movement think that it's
- 36:53more severe than what what you're hearing in the news about Florida six week band.
- 36:57We have a zero week band. It is a complete and here in
- 37:00West Virginia except for a couple of very rare exceptions that don't really exist in
- 37:06reality. So yeah, it's a very dangerous law. Let's put the health
- 37:08of women at risk, and we think at very least we should let the
- 37:13people vote on it. Do you think I stand with our gubernatorial candidate Steve
- 37:16Williams, who was calling for that amendment to be put on the ballot.
- 37:21You feel pretty confident that if it were to go on the ballot that the
- 37:27people of West Virginia would would would would vote Like the other states have the
- 37:31EU Yes, like every other state, whether it's red states like Montana,
- 37:37Ohio. Yeah, like every other state that where the people have been allowed
- 37:40to vote on it, I think that we would go the same way,
- 37:43and I think that's what the Republicans are afraid of. Talking with Mike Pushkin
- 37:46again, State Democratic Party Chair in delegate. All right, so we're one
- 37:51week away from well actually one day away from early voting, two weeks away
- 37:55from election day. Your thoughts that voting starts tomorrow. It is a primary
- 38:00election, but for you know a lot of folks, it is the election
- 38:04was on for the nonpartisan races like the judiciary and the school boards, very
- 38:08important races on the ballot. We have municipal elections, some municipal elections here
- 38:13in Kanall County as well. So I'd encourage everybody, regardless of your political
- 38:19affiliation or ideology, get out and vote. It is our duty and a
- 38:22democracy to cast our vote. As State Democratic Party chair, are there any
- 38:29big rallies planned for one of your Democratic candidates, Don blanket him? We've
- 38:34made it very clear, Look, we're not getting involved in primaries. However,
- 38:38we made an exception for mister Blankenship. The Democratic Party West Virginia made
- 38:43it very clear how we feel about Don blankenship. We don't care what letter
- 38:45he has after his name. This week, everybody knows he's not a Democrat.
- 38:51Have you seen the TV ads that he's running. Incredibly bizarre. They're
- 38:54a little Don's actually going to be on the show later this week. But
- 38:59they're different. I'll say that they're different. Somebody upstairs, one of our
- 39:04sales guys. I have to give Larry credit because he said it looked like
- 39:07a hostage video. He was very oddly shot. From a cinematic standpoint,
- 39:16I'll just say that was very very he did. It looked like he did.
- 39:19He was rather frugal with the production expenditure on that on that video.
- 39:23But no, it's not ours. So, as I mentioned, I've got
- 39:29the TV on here in the studio and we're seeing what's going on at some
- 39:31of these universities across America. I mean, you know Columbia, and I
- 39:36mean, protests are one thing. I fully fully support anybody's right to protest.
- 39:43But when you there's a difference between protests and occupation, and when you
- 39:46take over buildings and you are destroying stuff, that's like January sixth, doesn't
- 39:52it what you're seeing on the campuses here? I mean that that's a little
- 39:55far, little well, I think we're gonna you're gonna find that I agree
- 39:59with you this, Dave, and like, just like I was quick to
- 40:01come out and say what I thought about January sixth, I believe on your
- 40:06show the very next day. Yeah, we all have our First Amendment right
- 40:10to free speech. We have a right to peaceful assembly. But when that
- 40:15assembly is no longer peaceful and you're keeping other students from getting their education,
- 40:21that's a problem. Also have a big problem with with the you know,
- 40:24anti Semitic chants, with the universities telling Jewish students that they can't provide to
- 40:30make sure that they're safe on campus. You know, they deserve a right
- 40:34to an education, and just like every other student on that campus, that
- 40:37they paid for product they're not getting. Yeah, at some of those universities,
- 40:39they paid a heck of a lot for that product. So yeah,
- 40:43I think that that I would, you know, condemn anti semitism in every
- 40:49form. I would condemn racism in every form. I do think it's a
- 40:52bit hypocritical, And we have some of our local Republican leaders who are very
- 40:57quick to speak out about unrest on our college campuses, but don't say a
- 41:01word about real Nazis marching down Capitol Street on Saturday now the Republican Party.
- 41:07Yeah, And I'll give credit to herriage fishing his statement having heard a lot
- 41:13from other elected officials. I mean, I was listening to I believe on
- 41:17Hoppy yesterday. I believe Senator Capito was on, and she made it a
- 41:22point to go on and on about what was going on on college campuses.
- 41:25I agree with much of what she said, but she was silent, silent
- 41:30about what happened in her hometown. But I mean when she asked that question,
- 41:34by happy though, I mean nobody asked me, Well, you and
- 41:37I may have a difference of opinion on this, and I said this on
- 41:40the show yesterday. I think we can probably agree that it's very easy to
- 41:45condemn real Nazis marching right street right. But I also think, Mike,
- 41:49I think there is something to be said for when you see garbage like we
- 41:52saw like that, ignoring it, just totally ignored it. Don't give them
- 41:57credibility. And there were people down there and and and people I'm friends with
- 42:00that were down there, you know, filming it, and you know Facebook
- 42:05live in it. And whatever. Don't give them the freaking light of day.
- 42:07That's what they want. All they want is legitimacy. And you fell
- 42:12not you specifically, but people fell right into their hands by by giving them
- 42:16a different way to look at it. I think it's a speak up.
- 42:19Be able to speak up and call it what it is also take some courage
- 42:22as well. I think that the you know, there's also possibly the reason
- 42:25that a lot of folks on the other side of the aisle are are very
- 42:30slow to speak up about it. Because when I posted something, there was
- 42:34immediately a lot of stuff on on on social media from a segment of the
- 42:38Republican Party where they have this conspiracy theory that those aren't that's not a real
- 42:44group, that they're actually uh, well, that's that's that's that's on Fox
- 42:49News. Well that's on Joe Rogan, that's who's putting this stuff out and
- 42:54Fox News. But there's a lot of that's out there, and maybe that's
- 42:58why, Uh, folks on the other side of the aisle are so slow.
- 43:02That's not representative of the aver of most Republicans. Mike, and you
- 43:07can't, you can't, honestly, thanks. But the difference is when you're
- 43:10looking at the unrest on college campus. Those aren't Democrats, those aren't Those
- 43:15are people who are protesting President Biden's policies. But would you look at January
- 43:20sixth, they were wearing Trump hats and waving Trump flags. So while there
- 43:23are extremes on both sides, the extremes on the left aren't in charge of
- 43:28the Democratic Party, but the extreme on the right are gaining more of a
- 43:31foothold than the Republican Party. They become more extreme. I agree, but
- 43:37some of what you said. Wait a second, Dave agree. You didn't
- 43:42say you don't disagree, say you agree with Mike. You and I agree
- 43:45on a lot of things. We agree on a lot of things. All
- 43:49right, this is more about we'll cover this stuff. I'm trying to get
- 43:52this stuff from Mike. Texas, Jews and Muslims have been killing each other
- 43:54for thousands of years over that patch of desert. No amount of college campus
- 43:59protests will and the animosity Muslims and Jews have for each other. I think
- 44:04that a Patrick debt Well, I support a two state solution. I think
- 44:09that was the original un plan. I think that most people who strive for
- 44:15peace do support a two state solution or who doesn't support a two state solution
- 44:22will be the extremes on either side, whether that's the extreme right or the
- 44:25extreme left, often don't support a two state solution, but that is the
- 44:30only pathway to peace there. Do you think that this is problematic for Joe

- 48:20might push in this here, Texas, good job, Mike. Have we
- 48:22gone from sleepy Joe to Trump at his New York trial now known as Long
- 48:27Gone Dawn as he sleeps away the evidence against him? Texas says, there's
- 48:34been a lot of footage of Trump asleep at is Trump snap naptime? Texas?
- 48:38How does Pushkin feel about these Democrats running as Republicans? Why can't they
- 48:43run as what they philosophically are, which is Democrats? Well, I can't
- 48:47speak for them. I know that I'm a Democrat because of what I stand
- 48:51for. Basic, basic values and ideals that are never going to change.
- 48:55You know, people deserve a livable wage, they go to work every day.
- 49:00People deserve a reasonable expectation to be safe at the workplace. We deserve
- 49:06good schools for our kids. We get sick, we should be able to
- 49:08see a doctor. Basic values and principles that make me a Democrat that are
- 49:14never going to change. Tex says, you don't see Biden flags of Biden
- 49:17hats because literally no one would buy them. Well, I mean, you
- 49:22know, there's something to be set. I mean I think it's I think
- 49:23it's kind of weird when people you know, around sporting stuff from politicians like
- 49:29their rock stars or something. You know, I might wear a Rolling Stones
- 49:32or a Grateful Dead shirt, but I don't. I don't go around with
- 49:35politicians faces on our jets stuff or yeah, or your jets stuff. But
- 49:38yeah, I think it's kind of a weird cultish type thing. When we're
- 49:42out there, that's what you see. And you know, in totalitarian countries
- 49:45carrying big pictures of their leaders. I hope America never gets like that.
- 49:51Texas's push cannot realize that a Republican could walk around saying anti Semitism stuff while
- 49:54wearing an I Love Biden hat just to mess with Democrats. I don't.
- 50:00I don't know what they I guess they're assuming that that that that was some
- 50:01sort of a deep fake that we saw on Saturday. But somebody you said
- 50:06that, we're kind of stuck with me saying it's you know, and I
- 50:07guess it's a different philosophy saying it's best just left ignored. I am really
- 50:14I probably share this with you. I'm pretty much a free speech absolutist,
- 50:17all right. I would fight to defend your right to say things, or
- 50:22anybody's right to even unpopular speech, and that's usually we're talking about. We're
- 50:27talking about free speech, is fighting to defend the right to even say something
- 50:30it's unpopular, all right, But the answer, the answer to speech is
- 50:35always more speech. I have a right to say what I think about it.
- 50:39And I think when good people stay silent, often in history, bad
- 50:44things tend to happen. I think if you had a thousand people want to
- 50:46speak up, if you'd had a thousand people on the boulevard, yeah,
- 50:50well you know what to that. But they had a lot more people at
- 50:53the race to end racism down the street. But they came in in the
- 50:57back of the U haul truck like they were like a Calvinator or something,
- 51:00you know. I mean, nobody really took these people seiuly that part.
- 51:02You know. They have a right to walk down the sidewalk and they have
- 51:06a right to speak. What they don't have a right to do is ride
- 51:08in the back of a box truck without seat belts. Person, I would
- 51:10have liked to have seen them get seat belt tickets, every one of them.
- 51:15Texas Pushkin for governor. Thanks. You know, I don't think my
- 51:19mom's listening, So I don't know who that could have been Texas Biden supporters
- 51:22don't wear Biden gear because they're not dupes ready to be conned. There you
- 51:25go, thanks, sir, I go texays. Palestinians do not want and
- 51:30have not wanted, a two state solution. To stop trying to push that
- 51:32lie. From the Washington Institute for Near East Policy of July twenty twenty one,
- 51:37less than forty percent of Palestinian public in the West Bank, Gaza and
- 51:39East Jerusalem supports a one state alternative. Support for a two state solution has
- 51:44declined steadily since twenty eighteen. Most Palestinians want all or nothing. Well,
- 51:49I'm saying what I The only pathway to peace is a two state solution.
- 51:53And there's still many many factions within Israel that still support a two state solution.
- 51:59Who does supported extremists on the left and extremist on the right. That's
- 52:04who benefit from the violence. Final text says there are both. There are
- 52:07not both sides genocide. There are not both sides of political extremism. Tell
- 52:12me the party that actually tries to steal an election and has ratified political violence
- 52:15by calling those who attack the capital patriots, hostages and political prisoners get a
- 52:20grip gop you get the final twenty seconds. I'll go back to what I
- 52:24originally was talking about, hope that the legislature is able to get it together
- 52:28for the sake of the people who are facing a whole lot of uncertainty,
- 52:31needless uncertainty of their lives because the legislature and the governor have been playing games
- 52:37with this budget and it's gonna it's affecting a lot of people. We need
- 52:38to get in there at very very least restore the money to the idd Waiver
- 52:43program. Mike Push can say the Democratic Party chair dell Oga, thanks man
